Field trips and excursions provide hands-on, experiential learning opportunities for students outside the classroom. They allow students to directly observe and experience phenomena that may be difficult to learn about from textbooks alone. Field trips stimulate students' interests, increase appreciation of topics, and help bridge the gap between education and real-world experience. While field trips require planning and coordination, they can be highly motivating for students and support both learning and development when integrated thoughtfully into the curriculum. The document discusses the need for field trips, their educational benefits, how to plan them effectively, and concludes that field trips are an important and beneficial part of education.
Field trips are commonly the most memorable scholastic experience of children (and young students) in their formative years. Despite their brevity, they offer fertile grounds for affective learning because they inspire situated learning in integrated and interacting personal, social, and physical contexts. Generic learning outcomes ensue in the areas of knowledge and understanding; skills; attitudes and values; enjoyment, inspiration, and creativity; and activity, behavior, and progression.

Field trips boost observation skills by engaging children in sensory activities, enhancing and expanding the curriculum, enriching children's knowledge in a particular subject area, and expanding children's awareness of their community.
Field trips are most often done in 3 steps: preparation, activities and follow-up activity. Preparation applies to both the student and the teacher. Teachers often take the time to learn about the destination and the subject before the trip. Activities that happen on the field trips often include: lectures, tours, worksheets, videos and demonstrations. Follow-up activities are generally discussions that occur in the classroom once the field trip is completed.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.
This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

3. INTRODUCTION
The purpose of education is to develop the knowledge, skill or character
of students. Thus the education is the process of learning, which is not
restricted to our school or text books. Education is very important for
individual life.
Field trips and excursion are interchangeably used in educational
literature. But in strict sense they are different .the activity of educational field
trips which are commonly conducted for the students are one of the major
source of providing knowledge to the students by giving opportunity for self
experiences and observation and self long lasting learning. Field trip or
excursions is a journey by a group of people to a place away from their normal
environment. The purpose of the trip is usually observation for education, non
experimental research or to provide students with experience outside their
everyday activities. Field trips give them a chance to get out of the classroom
and experience something new which is necessary for this level. They allow
students to have a real world experiences. An excursion is a school journey
involving any organized travel made by teachers and primarily with an
educational motive in mind.
4. CONTENT
Field trips are organized visits of and teachers to immediate or distant
place to enrich learning experience and to further instructional purpose of
regular classroom activities. The field trip is distinguished by its concentration
of learning particular aspects. Hence its success is judged by the fulfillment of
pre determined goals. The chief purpose of field trips is to give student
firsthand experience that cannot be had in the classroom. Students can see, hear
and handle things and can examine them minutely. Hence field trip is an
outdoor lesson in action. Many object and phenomena can be studied best in
their natural setting. Field trips provide opportunities for learning through the
use of many techniques other than reading and speaking. Field trips stimulate
interest and increase appreciation.
Field trips and excursions are important to help bridge the gap between
education and hands on experience. These are a highlight of the school year for
most children. Whatever the purpose, field trips and excursions are learning
experience. They require significant planning and co ordination for teachers
and administrators, but students often see a field trip as a free day out of the
classroom. Children have to learn to interact with people their classmates and
others. Many field trips and excursions involve children having to talk to adults
and children from other schools or classes.
Field trips provide entertainment for students. They often serve as a
powerful motivator for students, stirring up excitement as the trip nears.
5. Breaking away from the routine provides kids with a refresher that might make
them more focused back in the classroom. Learning and fun make a great
combination. Field trips are considered fun, but the children learn as well,
whether they realize it or not .field trips make the book learning from the
classroom and extent it to life. Students often question the importance of topics
they study in the class field trips, particularly for older students, can answer the
questions of how learning can be applied in life.

center
3. Listing out specific objectives
4. Planning and preparation
5. Conducting the actual field trip or excursion
6. Consolidating the results and talking up follow up activities. The trip
must be followed by discussion, or even a written test.
