This presentation discusses fibers, yarns, and fabrics. It begins by classifying fibers into natural, synthetic, and semisynthetic. For yarns, it describes the manufacturing process and classifications including staple, filament, single, ply and cord/cable yarns. For fabrics, it discusses production methods of weaving, knitting and braiding/plaiting and classifications of woven, knit and non-woven fabrics. Examples of fabric uses include curtains, sofas, tablecloths, clothes, bedsheets and medical suits. The presentation was created by four students from the Department of Fashion Design and Technology.
