McDonalds Business Proposal Paper
ECO/561
February 3, 2012
McDonalds Business Proposal McDonalds has always been a company that shares in the happiness of
a child. Recently after taking my own children to McDonalds, I have found that there is not a
breakfast option for children. McDonalds should add a happy meal option to the breakfast menu.
Current demands by consumers are to add a happy meal option allowing parents to purchase child
sized portions of breakfast items. This option could help McDonalds to increase profits by attracting
more consumers. Shareholder reports show a quarterly cash dividend per share increase of 15% and
annual dividend of $2.80 per share. Comparable sales grew 5.6%. Cash by operations increased $808

Essay about Anorexia
According to the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders, there are over
24 Million people that suffer from eating disorders. What is an eating disorder though? The simple
definition of this disease is that a person exhibits abnormal eating behaviors. There are many different
variations to these disorders but they share many of the same characteristics such as: fear of becoming
obese, obsession with thinness, food, weight, and even calorie counting. Of the many cases though
what is the main cause of this disease? Can it be psychological, an environmental, or a biological
factor? In this paper I will explore some of the reasons why people develop eating disorders and how
it all factors into a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The three main symptoms are an excessive amount of intake of food accompanied by self induced
vomiting, fasting and/or obsessive or compulsive exercise, and extreme concern with body weight and
shape. The recurrent binge and purge cycles can damage the entire digestive system and can lead to
electrolyte and chemical imbalances in the body that affect the heart and other major organ functions.
Some health consequences of bulimia nervosa are irregular heartbeats, possibly heart failure and
death, inflammation and possible rupture of the esophagus from frequent vomiting, tooth decay and
staining from stomach acids released, irregular bowel movements and constipation. People struggling
with bulimia nervosa usually appear to be of average body weight (National). Physical appearance is
not the only issue that this disease faces in people. They also face problems with psychological,
environmental and biological issues in life. Since there is no clear way to tell which of these factors is
the culprit of causing eating disorders, each factor needs to be looked at. Environmental factors is
plays one of the biggest roles in eating disorders. As a society, we are taught that looks matter. So
what makes a person associate thinness with beauty? Many people are believing that the media has
much to do with how people view themselves. The media has promoted the image of thinness through
magazines, advertisement, and television

How Has The Industrial Revolution Changed The World
It would be hard for some to believe there was a time that taking a train ride was the best way to get
around the country. Or even a time when mass production meant your mother made a enough cookies
to last more then one night. The Industrial Revolution changed the world and even though we are in a
time where trains are only used for local transportation and it is unusual for a household to not have a
car. There was time when that was not the case. The Industrial Revolution brought about a higher
volume and variety of factory produced goods and elevated the standard of living for many people,
mostly for the middle and upper classes. The life for the poor and working classes was unrelenting and
continued to be filled with obstacles. Income ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This manufacturing process attains at high rates of output with a low per unit, with lower costs
expected as volume rises. Mass production methods are centered around two general principles: (1)
the division and specialization of human labor; and (2) the use of tools, machinery, and other
equipment, usually automated, in the production of interchangeable parts and Countless factors came
into play in the early 20th century to make mass production happen. Henry Ford s decided to create an
economical automobile that everyday people could afford was a risk. He prospered in persuading his
business partners to back his idea through sheer fortitude. The history of machine driven innovation
also played vital role. The rich talent much like California s Silicon Valley in the late 20th century
permitted Henry Ford to employ talented workers. The migration growth in Michigan provided the
Ford with uneducated workers for the assembly lines. But Ford s resolve to make Model T s and only
Model T s helped in the progress of mass production methods based on the moving belt assembly line.
The process was broken down into its simplest parts. As each component moved down the line, the
pieces were fitted to form the whole. Henry Ford stressed precision; experts took note to the reliability
of his automobiles. The assembly line gave Ford factories a fluid appearance and radically increased
productivity. Without the assembly line Henry Ford would not have been able to keep up with

Essay On What Makes A Video Game Popular
What makes a video Game popular?
There are several video games on the market today, and while all can be fun in their own right, there
are those games that rise above in terms of popularity, or success. While it may be hard to determine
all of what makes a game fun to consumers, there are certain qualities of popular games that surface
more commonly than others. There are companies that attempt to scientifically determine a game s
overall goodness, based on these qualities as well as individual qualities that set it apart from other
games.

legends. While both have vastly different stories, both have strong RPG (role playing game) elements,
do not allow multiplayer interaction, and have many other distinctive qualities lead them to often be

The Omaha Platform
The Omaha Platform was established because Southern and Midwestern farmers believed they were
treated unfairly by the Democrats and the Republicans. The populists proposed a national currency,
coinage of silver to gold at a ratio of sixteen to one, federal loans to farmers, graduated income tax,
abolish national banks, government ownership of railroads, telephone and telegraph systems,
prohibition of alien land ownership, a secret ballot system, civil service reform, immigration
restriction, an eight hour day, abolition of the Pinkerton system, the right of initiative and referendum,
one term for the office of the President and Vice President, and direct election of Senators. I view most
of their proposals reasonable, except their demands on restricting immigration and prohibition of alien
land ownership. American Exceptionalism says that it is our destiny to dominate this continent, but we
have specific characteristics that differentiates us from Europeans. One is American freedom. At this
time, the populists excluded immigrants or aliens, so I find these demands unreasonable. Their beliefs
of that the power of government in other words, of the people should be expanded, ... Show more

Nike Debate
Case: Nike: The Sweatshop Debate 1. Should Nike be held responsible for working conditions in
foreign factories that it does not own, but where subcontractors make products for Nike? Yes, Nike is
not only responsible but also accountable for the working conditions of foreign countries that it does
not own. Nike should realize that it is a Global Organization and working globally does not only mean
that taking advantage of low cost destination but also taking responsibility of the
contractors/employees working in other countries. For example: Pepsi was recently in the news for
allegations of having pesticides in the cold drink in India. Pepsi ensured that it has same standard of

If so what? Should Nike make changes even if they hinder the ability of the company to compete?
Nike needs to ensure that all the contractors comply with the wages and local working conditions in
respective countries. Nike can do this either by appointing a labor inspector in each of the factories for
all the contractors and asking them to report the details of all the workers working in their respective
factories and this report need to be reviewed by legal experts at the country level and worldwide level
to ensure that all the laws are in compliance by contractors of Nike. Any non compliance should be
considered seriously and serious actions should be taken against all such contractors, which might
result in termination of contracts with such factories. In fact, Nike should go ahead and open schools
for children of workers working in their factories across different countries to take care of the
developments of its workers across the globe. Nike should make such changes even if this means
termination of contracts with non compliance factories or more expenses for development of workers
in factories. This is because all organizations in today s world affect the society and hence they need to
be sensitive towards the conditions of the employees and the society. Thus, Nike should engage in
Cause Related Marketing (CRM) by ensuring that working conditions are made better in all the
factories and also ensuring

Literature Review Theoretical Framework
An Overview:
The literature that I have been gathering and going through since last few weeks, have just mounted
the evidence that Positionality is interpreted uniquely by the diverse group of people.
Positionality always existed; it s only that people have become more responsive to it now.
Every person is unknowingly or knowingly positioning himself in the mind of the other. This can
occur when a person is in the company of his colleagues, his friends, relatives, or even in his own
house! This impact or the impression as we call it casually can be through very subtle signs of the
person s expressions and responses to some particular views, ideas or opinions. Even a person s
appearance through the way he presents himself, contributes enormously in constructing an image or a
position of that particular person in the mind of the other.
Looking at a wider perspective, ones own positionality can prove to be a big hurdle in his/her life.
Positionality stops a person from being creative or thinking outside the box. It makes a person very
rigid very confound. And this in itself is a barrier to your success.
Corporates today are constantly under pressure. The pressure of giving the right

Police Enforcement And Criminal Investigation Essay
Law enforcement, in some form, has existed for centuries and since its creation there has been
numerous improvements. Improvements have come about because of community changes and the
need for more effective ways of policing the people. As crimes became more fierce and complex so
did the need for the investigation and solving of these crimes. Criminal investigative techniques were
not just born from thin air, some thought and planning had to go into figuring out the proper ways to
go about doing things. Pioneers of the criminal justice and criminal investigation field such as August
Vollmer, Alphonse Bertillon, Edward Henry, and Edmond Locard have made superior contributions to
the development of criminal investigative techniques. These techniques have impacted the way police
operate today and set a substantial base for law enforcement to build on. Alphonse Bertillon devised a
system simply called, The Bertillon System. This was a first attempt at criminal identification and was
thought to be reliable and accurate. Bertillon developed an anthropometric system of physical
measurements of body parts, especially components of the head and face. This system was used
primarily to determine if a person in custody had committed a previous crime. Archives of these
records began to be compiled. A form of this system is still used today, but we now call them
mugshots . (Bertillon System of Criminal Identification, 2011). Although mugshots are still used
today, anthropometry was

Most Dangerous Game Symbolism Essay
The Most Dangerous Game, centered around Sanger Rainsford, an American hunter, separates
characters through distinct views and symbolism. Richard Connell inscribes the mind and thoughts of
Rainsford as he fights against a seemingly invincible opponent. While illustrating Rainsford s feelings,
Connell describes the characteristics of various personalities such as Whitney, Rainsford s hunting
friend, and General Zaroff, the antagonist. The remainder of this essay will outline the differences
between the characters Connell introduces in a short story,
Whitney s and Rainsford s hunting views show their differences in personalities. Rainsford believes
that animals do not have feelings when men are hunting, while Whitney thinks they understand ...

However, Rainsford grows comfortable with the island after feeding the general to his hounds, as he
decides that he had never slept in a better bed (Connell 46). This is because of the giant bed Zaroff and
Ivan had in their island, big enough for six men (Connell 31). Also, seeming how Rainsford had been
stressed from battling Zaroff and Ivan, it is clear that Rainsford could sleep well without a worry in his
mind. The United States and Russia were known for the Cold War, so Rainsford represented America
as Zaroff and Ivan stood up for the Soviet Union. I believe Rainsford did not turn into the evil Zaroff,
but rather seemed happy to take down Russia and return home to tell stories about Zaroff s
wrongdoings. Connell writes and crunches symbolism into the short story to give deeper input on
character s traits. He shows Whitney s and Rainsford s views on hunting, and how Zaroff and Ivan
hunt on their secret island designated for hunting humans. Connell quickly disguises Zaroff as a
passive aggressive villain, delivering more insight by how he speaks. He does the opposite with
Rainsford, allowing the exposition to introduce him and speak his views on hunting later in the story.
The Most Dangerous Game shows how opposites can compare and contrast to create breath taking
conflict throughout the short

The Contribution Of Social Marketing
Definition To lay the basis of critically assessing and outlining the contribution of social marketing to
contemporary marketing thinking, I should first define the possibly obscure meaning of the particular
type of commerce. The initial definition depicts social marketing as the design, implementation and
control of programs calculated to influence the acceptability of social ideas and involving
considerations of product planning, pricing, communication, distribution and marketing research
(Kotler and Zaltman, 1971, p. 5). In Marketing Social Marketing in the Social Change Marketplace
Alan R. Andreasen argues that the given definition does not outline the essence social behavioural
change. In his words, the acceptance of an idea alone does not guarantee the success of influencing
behaviour. The latest interpretation of ISMA solves that problem by stating the outcome explicitly.
(2013). Furthermore, the whole discipline is currently defined as a process that analyses a problem and
gives a solution that answers to the customer s requirements profitably (CIM definition). Companies
use it for raising their income, organisations popularise an activity, etc. It follows that what makes
social marketing unique is its purpose. While any other branch of marketing aims personal benefit, the
ultimate purpose of social marketing is the welfare of the society. Normally the change is either to 1)
accept a new behaviour, 2) reject unwanted potential behaviour, 3) modify

Women s Athletics were introduced in 1980, when Divisions II and III established 10 championships
for 1981 82. A year later, the historic 75th Convention adopted an extensive governance plan to
include women s athletics programs, services and representation. (Crowley, 2006)
Discussion
What has happened to the idea of attending college for the sake of an education and playing a sport
that is loved by the athlete to help offset the cost of a college education? That simple thought seems to
be lost as of late as college sports have become a stepping stone for anyone wanting to play a
professional sport. The current dilemma in college athletics is weather to pay, especially football and
basketball athletes extra money while attending college. There has been much discussion and rational
on the subject over the last few years. According to James H. Humphrey, Stress in College Athletics

How Did King James Impact On English
King James I and IV James Charles Stuart was King of Scotland from 1567 to 1625 and King of
England from 1603 to 1625 (Mathew). James mother, Mary, queen of Scots, was forced to abdicate in
1567, making James the King of Scotland. King James is also known for translating the Bible into
English in 1602, finishing the process in 1611. Since the Bible was translated, it has allowed a larger
variety of people to understand religion. Although King James was not very religious, he was a great
Christian influencer because he translated the Bible into the English language which allowed the
commoners to not only read the Bible, but also have a closer relationship to God. Ironically, King
James was not that religious, but he had a great impact on the Christian people. In addition, James
famously oversaw a new authorized English translation of the Bible, published in 1611, which became
known as the King James Version (Mathew). In 1602, King James began translating the Bible into the
English language, allowing the Christian community to be able to completely understand the Bible.
Above all, One of James s great contributions to England was the Authorised King James s Version of
the bible (1611) which was to become the standard text for more than 250 years ( James I and VI
(1566 1625 ). Ultimately, King James had an immense impact on the Christian society due to the
translation, he also greatly impacted England at the same time. By translating the Bible into English,

Jean Jacques Rousseau s Accomplishments
This person is Jean Jacques Rousseau. He is a famous philosopher, composer, and writer from the time
period called the Age of Reason or the Enlightenment. He influenced many later philosophers and
educators such as Maria Montessori and Jacques Derrida. Most of Rousseau s accomplishments were
novels. The most famous novel Rousseau wrote was called Julie, Ou la Nouvelle Heloise . This novel
was 800 pages and was a romantic novel about a Swiss women. This novel was very important
because it sparked a revolution of romantic books for the future. The reason that it was so influential
was that in this time period not many books were fiction and much less romance. When people
enjoyed this novel they got inspired and wrote their own. Rousseau also wrote many books about
society, one of these books was called Emile, or on Education . It was about education should be and

1700 s. It happened because he wrote a lot of novels and books. These books were either very
informative or very entertaining. Important people like Prince de Conti helped promote his books
throughout the years. I think Rousseau is considered an important historical figure because of his work
with books. Also because of his influence to later philosophers. Some of the influence that he had was
on politics and how he thought about the world. He also made the genre romance popular. Overall I

Air Campaign Waged by Germany in The Battle of Britain Essay
The Battle of Britain is the name given to the World War II air campaign waged by the German Air
Force against the United Kingdom during the summer and autumn of 1940. The Luftwaffe or German
Air Force was trying to pave the way for a sea and airborne invasion of Britain as an extension of
Hitler s Blitzkrieg campaign in Western Europe. The Battle of Britain is significant because it was the
only battle throughout World War II which was fought only in the air. The Battle of Britain also
marked the turning point in the war. The Luftwaffe was overconfident in their ability to gain complete
air superiority over the British Channel and the invasion area. The Luftwaffe intended to prevent both

The Germans would make small advancements throughout the length of the battle, but they could
never make a large enough dent in the RAF to change the outcome of the battle. Britain had its hand in
every major component of the battle which what caused them to win the Battle of Britain and defeat
the Germans in the first major campaign fought entirely by air forces. The courageous pilots of the
RAF were the heroes that helped safeguard Britain which gave way to Churchill s speech about the
few men who risked their lives for so many others. The popular saying is, Never...was so much owed
by so many to so few.
Leadership
Goering and Hitler The commander in chief Reichsmarschall Hermann W. Goering was an unstable
leader for the Luftwaffe. Although Goering was a pilot in WWI he had not kept up with the changes in
air power since his time in WWI and had little knowledge of strategy. Goering was prone to make
impulsive and erratic decisions which made it difficult for the Luftwaffe to get a jump on the RAF.
Because of Goering s erratic decision making, Hitler would intervene when he thought necessary
which would make the results even worse. Hitler had no clue about aerial strategies or tactics which
Churchill picked up on and realized that it would give the RAF a great advantage. Goering and Hitler
were never on the same page with one another and Goering would only tell Hitler what he wanted to
hear. As Hitler was preparing to move along with Operation Sea

Mahatma Gandhi Research Paper
Mahatma Gandhi Aroused by the massacre of Amritsar in 1919, Gandhi devoted his life to gaining
India s independence from Great Britain. As the dominant figure used his persuasive philosophy of
non violent confrontation, he inspired political activists with many persuasions throughout the world
(Andrews 23). Not only was Mahatma Gandhi a great peacemaker, but also his work to achieve
freedom and equality for all people was greatly acknowledged. Gandhi s unconventional style of
leadership gained him the love of a country and eventually enabled him to lead the independence
movement in India. Mohandas Gandhi, later called Mahatma Gandhi, was born on October 2,1869 in

By saying that, he meant that no one should worry about where they stand in society or how they are
judged because in God s eyes everyone is perfect and everyone is equal therefore, no one who has any
faith in God should be worrying about their so called imperfections. This great man struggled to gain
the important rights for all Indians, and this is where it all began. Once Gandhi s mission in South
Africa was complete, he returned to India and became involved in the home ruling movement. He was
concerned with excessive land tax and discrimination, so he organized protests by peasants, farmers,
and urban laborers to help them stand tall and fight for what they deserved (Gold 57). During World
War I, Gandhi had an active part in recruiting campaigns by launching his new movement of non
violent resistance to Great Britain (Byers 202). When Parliament passed the Rowlatt Acts in 1919,
Satyagraha, which means insistence on truth, spread throughout India, recruiting millions of followers.
British soldiers massacred Indians at Amritsar as a demonstration against the Rowlatt Acts. In 1920
the British government failed to make peace, which resulted in Gandhi organizing a campaign of non
cooperation (Andrews 103). There was chaos in India as the public

Meaning Behind the Painting, The Battle of Alexander at Issus
The Battle of Alexander at Issus is Albrecht Altdorfer s most famous painting (www.wikipedia.org).
Painted in 1528 9, the oil painting depicts a young Alexander the Great in 333 BC, at the point of
victory over the Persian army of King Darius III in the battle of Issus (www.ibiblio.org). Issus was an
ancient town in southeast Asia Minor near modern day Iskenderum, Turkey, however on the painting it
is shown in the rocky environment of the Alps with German cities in the background
(www.ibiblio.org). Altdorfer, a painter, engraver, architect, and leading member of the Danube School
of German art, is considered the first true landscape painter and a pioneer of copperplate etching

The Battle of Issus, is atypical in his work, in both its size and subject matter (ww.wikipedia.org). The
painting is made up of a number of miniatures of battle scenes he had done much earlier for his
manuscript Triumphal Procession in 1512 14 (www.wikipedia.org). He signed the painting with a
monogram in the lower left hand corner, dating it 1529, and also inscribed it: Albrecht Altorfer Zu
Regenspvrg Fecit on the bottom edge of the banner panel in the sky (www.wikipedia.org). Despite the
grandeur of scale, Altdorfer displays a miniaturist s mastery of brush stoke, with every tiny figure
rendered in exacting detail (Phaidon 409). The topographic landscape was imaginatively adapted by
Altdorfer from a map of the lands around the Mediterranean and stretches as far as the Nile Valley
(Phaidon 409). Behind the huge armies are the mountains of Asia Minor in the front of the
Mediterranean Sea and Cyprus (www.wikipedia.org). In the background are Palestine, Sinai, the Red
Sea, and Africa with the meandering Nile River heading for the Nile Delta in front of the gently bent
horizon and the dramatic setting sun (www.wikipedia.org). In the heavens, the sun and the moon cast
their light over the scene (Phaidon 409). While the all encompassing landscape may allude to the scale
of Alexander s victory, the diminutive figures lost in the immensity of nature also seem to point to

The Aphasia Mash Up Project
This aphasia mash up project is intended to remediate lexical retrieval at the discourse level in a
variety of communication settings and communication partners relevant to the patient s interests.
People with Aphasia often have difficulty with word retrieval which limits discourse capacity. This in
turn negatively effects communication interactions with others and increases isolation. Therefore,
therapy is often centered around improving word retrieval that will facilitate communication with
others. Unfortunately, trained skills in therapy have demonstrated varying levels of generalization.
There are several treatment approaches that have demonstrated efficacy for individuals with aphasia
such as Semantic Feature Analysis. A limitation with this method is that it focuses on nouns and has
not shown limited generalization to generalize to discourse and hashave not shown significant
evidence for maintenance (Kiran Bassetto 2008). Another approach used in therapy is the use of verbs.
Verbs are central to syntax, semantics and event memory. Therefore, VNeST is effective because it
targets semantic networks based around verbs, which also targets things such as nouns, syntax, and
thematic roles. Verbs are expected to activate more neural networks in comparison to targeting nouns
alone. Furthermore, previous studies have used VNeST and shown to be beneficial to patients with
moderate fluent and non fluent aphasia (Edmonds et al. 2009). The first article used investigated the

Heteronormativity In Walt Disney Films
This essay will identify and discuss heteronormativity and how it exists in our society. By making
reference to relevant sources such as Steyn van Zyl, the ideals of a heteronormative society will be
explored and how they have been shaped by our social and cultural context. A recently produced Walt
Disney film will be identified which portrays these standards of heteronormative gender structures. By
analysing the film and making reference to an independent source, the background and history of this
example will also be explored to determine if and why Disney films continually perpetuate
heteronormative discourses of gender using the media.

Heteronormative discourses which exist in society can be seen in examples involving media.
Advertisements, films and television all carry some form of heteronormative construct in their content
which is exposed to large audiences of men and woman of all ages. Such heteronormativity and
gender constructs perpetuated by the media will be explored using an example of a recently released
Walt Disney film called Frozen (Buck Lee 2013). As evident in many other films created by the
Disney franchise, the film s characters are made to depict a rich and exclusive heterosexual landscape
(Martin Kazyak 2009:332).
The film Frozen (Buck Lee 2013) follows a plot about a princess who goes on a journey with the help
of companions to find her estranged sister, whose magical powers that control ice and snow have
confined the kingdom in an eternal winter. Although majority of the film s storyline does not make
reference to heteronormative discourses, there are many scenes and songs performed in the film which
appear to perpetuate heterosexual and ideal gender constructs. This is portrayed both by the creation of
specific body images of the male and

The Baseball Game In Baseball
Baseball was originated in Hoboken, New Jersey in 1846 and in those days, the game was played
differently. The baseball was thrown underhanded and players did use gloves while the runner had to
go up to a bell and ring it. This was the only way their run would be counted. Games were played on
grass fields. There were not any baseball baseball stadiums built at that time. Baseball is still America
s pastime after all these years. There are some American s who love the game because it is unlike
basketball, football, soccer, or any other sport. Some people enjoy it because they grew up playing as
a child. Others who remember watching the baseball game on television with are also those who

My Dream Future
I like the dreams of the future, better than the history of the past Thomas Jefferson quoted. This relates
to my life in many ways. My dreams of the future help me to keep my eye on the prize and to never
give up while working towards my dreams. My past is history, as Thomas Jefferson said, but as I have
learned, I can choose to learn from my past and move on, or can let it be my present or future again.
Even though I would like to go back and change my past, I know that my hardship have made me
determined, passionate and caring. In the past I was taught by nature to be determined. One day I had
to be determined to find my next meal, while other days I needed to be strong willed so that I had
clothes on my back. This was because my birth mother was a drug addict and an alcoholic. Even
though I was only two years old, I had to cook, and take care of myself and my brother. I was
determined to live and carry on to my greatest ability. Never in my life would I have though that I
could come this far. I have had many set backs, which made me feel like life was not worth a thing. I
was an extremely angry person and life was hard for me. I remember as a kid I would be very violent
and mean towards the ones I loved and even myself. It never occurred to me that I just wanted
someone to love and support me through tough times. Besides my past being hard, I felt that I would
never be like my birth parents. I wanted to be more like my adopted parents because after all, they

The Rate Of Aggregation, Differential, Sedimentation, And...
4. NEED FOR STABILISATION Although the small size of nanocrystals leads to several advantages,
but at the same time, it can lead to stability concerns as well. Theoretically, if we increase the drug
surface area, it leads to an increase in Gibbs free energy. The system tries to reverse this increase by
agglomeration/aggregation, ultimately leading to increased particle size and reduced stability.
Principally, the literature describes three mechanisms for aggregation prekinetic aggregation,
differential sedimentation and orthokinetic aggregation. In any dispersion, the particles are in
continuous Brownian motion, and they may collide and stick together as a result of the attractive
forces between them. Such a mechanism for aggregation is known as prekinetic aggregation. The rate
of aggregation in such cases would be determined by the frequency of collisions as well as the chances
of cohesion during collision. Differential sedimentation assumes importance when particles of varying
sizes and densities settle in a suspension. Faster settling particles collide with the slower moving ones,
thereby resulting in aggregation. Lastly, the orthokinetic aggregation mechanism describes the
aggregation brought about by increased particle collisions, arising out of particle transportation as a
result of fluid motion. Orthokinetic aggregation depends upon initial particle size and velocity
gradient, but is independent of temperature. Apart from aggregation, another stability issue

Pros And Cons Of Batman And Superman
Batman and Superman are DC s most valuable super heroes. They fight crime, help those in need, and
protect their cities. Truly that is hero, someone we should look up to. Or is it? Today I was tasked with
deciding whether or not, Batman and Superman do more harm than good as role models and cultural
icons. I have come to the conclusion that they do more harm than good. It s important to note that I
will be basing most of my information on the Superman and Batman movie. I have 3 main reasons
why I believe this, 1 they are not relatable, 2 they solve their problems through violence, and 3 they
are very dark. Let s begin with point one.
The first reason why I agree with the statement, As role models and cultural icons, Batman and
Superman do more harm than good. Is because of how unrelatable they are to people. Starting with
Superman, he is an alien from a different world. He has powers that no one on earth can attain,
unbreakable skin, laser eyes, the ability to fly by himself, and X ray vision (Superman s). No one can
relate to any of those powers (Superman). Meanwhile, Batman is an orphan, who has billions of
dollars. Some people can relate with the loss of a loved one but very, very few have access to even a
million dollars. We look at them and see something that we can never be. Batman and Superman are
role models and cultural icons that do more harm than good.
The second reason why Batman and Superman as role models and cultural icons do more harm than
good is because they solve the majority of their problems through violence. Dr. Sharon Lamb states,
Today s superhero is too much like an action hero who participates in non stop violence...rarely speaks
to the virtue of doing good for humanity, (Chivers). She is 100% correct in this. In the 2013 movie,
Man of Steel, our hero flies about destroying the city he swore to protect. Buildings fall, lives are
taken, and superman brings up no mention of any virtue by the end of the film. He uses violence. This
continues on in basically every show that includes him. Bad guy shows up, does a bad thing, and
Superman flies over, beats up the villain and wins the day. Now we examine Batman. He does the
exact same thing, gliding around his city beating up crime and

Navajo Code Talkers Case Study
What battles did the code talkers help in? How did the talkers understand each other among all the
confusion? What made the code so unbreakable no one could figure out what the code meant? The
Navajo Code Talkers were an elite group of Navajos who had to create a code that was unbreakable.
The Code Talkers had to understand each other perfectly. The talkers did this by meeting in a room for
a really long time to make the code. When the Navajos made the code the coders named certain
vehicles after animals. For example the Navajos named submarines iron fish . Everyone was trained

One of those major battles was Okinawa. The code Talkers also led in Iwo Jima as they had to relay

Navajos had to transmit codes perfectly to each other to make the campaign successful. Captain
Howard Connor even said, Were it not for the Navajo Code Talkers, the Marines would have never
taken Iwo Jima. The Navajo Code was very complicated making it hard to understand for the
Japanese. The Code Talkers had 2 3 different words for each letter. When the Navajos named a vehicle
that vehicle was named with an animal with a certain characteristic. For instance they called dive

Ambiguity In The Scarlet Letter
In the Puritan society the outlandish mindset of the leaders caused more harm than good with the

Luther s Historical Faith
I think Luther here is speaking against a historical faith in that one can come to abtain knowledge
about God and God s law through the use of reason or through observable things. We know what has
come to pass and what was done (LW 11:428). The risk of this, for Luther, is that faith can then be
reduced down to just an intellectual activity where we can aquire information on the past events of
Jesus s life here on earth. For Luther this alone cannot save because it is yet the gospel. It only

How The Current Copyright Laws Are Not Be Reformed For...
Due to how abusable current copyright laws are, they must be reformed to prevent copyright trolling.
According to Matthew Sag, The essence of trolling is that the plaintiff is more focused on the business
of litigation than on selling a product or service or licensing their IP to third parties to sell a product or
a service ( Copyright Trolling, An Empirical Study page 4). Copyright trolls seek to acquire their
income from suing others on copyright violations, rather than continually creating new works and
using copyright to protect them. Copyright, whether one agrees with the concept or not, was not
designed for this purpose. People should not be allowed to make a business off of suing others. This is
not only unjust, but wastes the court s time with actual crimes. The United States must reform its
current laws to prevent this type of behavior from happening. According to Parker Higgins, Like email
spammers, copyright trolls depend on the ability to cheaply cast a very wide net, sending out hundreds
or thousands of accusations at once and getting settlement payments back from some percentage (
Copyright trolls suffer big loss par. 3). Many trolls do not target specific groups or people; rather, they
spread it in such a way that any company or organization can accidentally misuse it. This creates an
environment in which it is impossible for many groups to tell if they can use another party s content

Employee Morale Project
1.1 INTRODUCTION In every organization, people are working within a suitable environment of
attitudes. Each employee has attitudes that range over the entire spectrum of human behavior. All
managers have a constant concern for the morale of the group, which they lead. However,
considerable confusion prevails over the use of the term morale because of variation in defining
characteristics of the term.
In certain cases job satisfaction and morale is considered as individual concern; in other cases job
satisfaction is considered as individual phenomenon and morale as group phenomenon. From one
point of view, morale may be regarded essentially an individual matter. It s described in terms of the
feelings of an employee or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

thread, buttons, buckles, zippers, metal plates, cardboard sheets, plastic butterflies and packaging
material.
Organized sector of the garment industry is roughly 20% of the total industry, concentrating chiefly on
exports. These are usually limited Companies while the rest are proprietary or partnership Companies.

America s Miscegenation Anxiety And The State Of Virginia
Even through contradictory politics and the use of religion as justification in the formation and
adherence to these segregation laws, the resolve of individuals have collectively played a tremendous
role in racial equality in all facets of life.
Before the Civil War, the Constitution gave rights, individual rights, only against the government.
After the Civil War, the 14th Amendment clearly defined national citizenship and prohibited any
single state to deprive any person of life, liberty or property without due process of law, to deny any
citizen the privileges and immunities of citizenship, or to deny any person the equal protection of the
laws. After the Supreme Court ultimately neutralized this amendment through its decision in ... Show

Is it not the foundation of a greater or less share of beauty in the two races? Are not the fine mixtures
of red and white, the expressions of every passion by greater or less suffusions of colour in the one,
preferable to that eternal monotony, which reigns in the countenances, that immovable veil of black
which covers all the emotions of the other race? Add to these, flowing hair, a more elegant symmetry
of form, their own judgment in favour o f the whites, declared by their preference o f them, as
uniformly as is the preference o f the Oran ootan for the black women over those o f his own species.
(Jefferson 186, italics mine) Reading Jefferson s constructed history in Notes against his lived history
his own liaisons with women not of his own species enters us into the profound rhetorical
contradictions of interracialism in America.
In many cases, the success of the major legal battles during the Civil Rights era depended on the
effort, courage, and tenacity of individuals. Richard Loving and Mildred Jeter were two such
individuals. By marrying one another, Richard being white, and Mildred being considered negro,
Richard and Mildred broke the Virginia Racial Integrity Act

Tomato ( Solanum Lycopersicum )
[1] Background According to Kimura and Sinha (2008), tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) is one of the
most important vegetable plants around the world, as it s produced in disparate areas like south
western America and Africa. It is also considered the second most abundant horticultural product after
the potato. Perveen et al. (2015), stated that, currently, there are thirteen recognized wild tomato
species which allows a great diversity in the phenotypes. The tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) is an
important source for disparate essential compounds such as folic acid, carotenoids, and potassium.
Due to its widely use; not only as a food but also as a perfect material which can be used in research to
treat serious and devastating diseases as certain types of cancers (melanoma skin cancer and breast
cancer), cardiovascular diseases and photo aging (Liu et el., 2012). The use of it in such important
researches returns to its anti oxidant activity which arises from the carotenoids pigments it contains
like alpha carotene, beta carotene, and lycopene (Dorais et el., 2008). Tomato contains a lot of
compounds which have a high benefits for health, and also for its wonderful flavor which is used in
our daily food as a flavor during cooking. The question here is what is the compound which plays an
important role in all this benefits of carotenoids? The answer is lycopene. 1 Lycopene and its
occurrence: Al Amri (2013) clarified that, lycopene is one of the most abundant natural pigments

Improvements have come about because of community changes and the need for more effective ways of policing the people. As crimes became more fierce and complex so did the need for the investigation and solving of these crimes. Criminal investigative techniques were not just born from thin air, some thought and planning had to go into figuring out the proper ways to go about doing things. Pioneers of the criminal justice and criminal investigation field such as August Vollmer, Alphonse Bertillon, Edward Henry, and Edmond Locard have made superior contributions to the development of criminal investigative techniques. These techniques have impacted the way police operate today and set a substantial base for law enforcement to build on. Alphonse Bertillon devised a system simply called, The Bertillon System. This was a first attempt at criminal identification and was thought to be reliable and accurate. Bertillon developed an anthropometric system of physical measurements of body parts, especially components of the head and face. This system was used primarily to determine if a person in custody had committed a previous crime. Archives of these records began to be compiled. A form of this system is still used today, but we now call them mugshots . (Bertillon System of Criminal Identification, 2011). Although mugshots are still used today, anthropometry was ... Also, seeming how Rainsford had been stressed from battling Zaroff and Ivan, it is clear that Rainsford could sleep well without a worry in his mind. The United States and Russia were known for the Cold War, so Rainsford represented America as Zaroff and Ivan stood up for the Soviet Union. I believe Rainsford did not turn into the evil Zaroff, but rather seemed happy to take down Russia and return home to tell stories about Zaroff s wrongdoings. Connell writes and crunches symbolism into the short story to give deeper input on character s traits. He shows Whitney s and Rainsford s views on hunting, and how Zaroff and Ivan hunt on their secret island designated for hunting humans. Connell quickly disguises Zaroff as a passive aggressive villain, delivering more insight by how he speaks. The Contribution Of Social Marketing Definition To lay the basis of critically assessing and outlining the contribution of social marketing to contemporary marketing thinking, I should first define the possibly obscure meaning of the particular type of commerce. The initial definition depicts social marketing as the design, implementation and control of programs calculated to influence the acceptability of social ideas and involving considerations of product planning, pricing, communication, distribution and marketing research (Kotler and Zaltman, 1971, p. 5). In Marketing Social Marketing in the Social Change Marketplace Alan R. Andreasen argues that the given definition does not outline the essence social behavioural change. In his words, the acceptance of an idea alone does not guarantee the success of influencing behaviour. The latest interpretation of ISMA solves that problem by stating the outcome explicitly. (2013). Furthermore, the whole discipline is currently defined as a process that analyses a problem and gives a solution that answers to the customer s requirements profitably (CIM definition). Companies use it for raising their income, organisations popularise an activity, etc. It follows that what makes social marketing unique is its purpose. While any other branch of marketing aims personal benefit, the ultimate purpose of social marketing is the welfare of the society. Painted in 1528 9, the oil painting depicts a young Alexander the Great in 333 BC, at the point of victory over the Persian army of King Darius III in the battle of Issus (www.ibiblio.org). Issus was an ancient town in southeast Asia Minor near modern day Iskenderum, Turkey, however on the painting it is shown in the rocky environment of the Alps with German cities in the background (www.ibiblio.org). The painting is made up of a number of miniatures of battle scenes he had done much earlier for his manuscript Triumphal Procession in 1512 14 (www.wikipedia.org). He signed the painting with a monogram in the lower left hand corner, dating it 1529, and also inscribed it: Albrecht Altorfer Zu Regenspvrg Fecit on the bottom edge of the banner panel in the sky (www.wikipedia.org). Despite the grandeur of scale, Altdorfer displays a miniaturist s mastery of brush stoke, with every tiny figure rendered in exacting detail (Phaidon 409). The topographic landscape was imaginatively adapted by Altdorfer from a map of the lands around the Mediterranean and stretches as far as the Nile Valley (Phaidon 409). Behind the huge armies are the mountains of Asia Minor in the front of the Mediterranean Sea and Cyprus (www.wikipedia.org). In the background are Palestine, Sinai, the Red Sea, and Africa with the meandering Nile River heading for the Nile Delta in front of the gently bent horizon and the dramatic setting sun (www.wikipedia.org). In the heavens, the sun and the moon cast their light over the scene (Phaidon 409). • 23. The Aphasia Mash Up Project This aphasia mash up project is intended to remediate lexical retrieval at the discourse level in a variety of communication settings and communication partners relevant to the patient s interests. People with Aphasia often have difficulty with word retrieval which limits discourse capacity. This in turn negatively effects communication interactions with others and increases isolation. Therefore, therapy is often centered around improving word retrieval that will facilitate communication with others. Unfortunately, trained skills in therapy have demonstrated varying levels of generalization. There are several treatment approaches that have demonstrated efficacy for individuals with aphasia such as Semantic Feature Analysis. A limitation with this method is that it focuses on nouns and has not shown limited generalization to generalize to discourse and hashave not shown significant evidence for maintenance (Kiran Bassetto 2008). Another approach used in therapy is the use of verbs. Verbs are central to syntax, semantics and event memory. Therefore, VNeST is effective because it targets semantic networks based around verbs, which also targets things such as nouns, syntax, and thematic roles. Verbs are expected to activate more neural networks in comparison to targeting nouns alone. Furthermore, previous studies have used VNeST and shown to be beneficial to patients with moderate fluent and non fluent aphasia (Edmonds et al. 2009). The first article used investigated the ... • 24. Heteronormativity In Walt Disney Films This essay will identify and discuss heteronormativity and how it exists in our society. By making reference to relevant sources such as Steyn van Zyl, the ideals of a heteronormative society will be explored and how they have been shaped by our social and cultural context. A recently produced Walt Disney film will be identified which portrays these standards of heteronormative gender structures. By analysing the film and making reference to an independent source, the background and history of this example will also be explored to determine if and why Disney films continually perpetuate heteronormative discourses of gender using the media. Heteronormative discourses which exist in society can be seen in examples involving media. Advertisements, films and television all carry some form of heteronormative construct in their content which is exposed to large audiences of men and woman of all ages. Such heteronormativity and gender constructs perpetuated by the media will be explored using an example of a recently released Walt Disney film called Frozen (Buck Lee 2013). As evident in many other films created by the Disney franchise, the film s characters are made to depict a rich and exclusive heterosexual landscape (Martin Kazyak 2009:332). The film Frozen (Buck Lee 2013) follows a plot about a princess who goes on a journey with the help of companions to find her estranged sister, whose magical powers that control ice and snow have confined the kingdom in an eternal winter. Although majority of the film s storyline does not make reference to heteronormative discourses, there are many scenes and songs performed in the film which appear to perpetuate heterosexual and ideal gender constructs. This is portrayed both by the creation of specific body images of the male and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My dreams of the future help me to keep my eye on the prize and to never give up while working towards my dreams. My past is history, as Thomas Jefferson said, but as I have learned, I can choose to learn from my past and move on, or can let it be my present or future again. Even though I would like to go back and change my past, I know that my hardship have made me determined, passionate and caring. In the past I was taught by nature to be determined. One day I had to be determined to find my next meal, while other days I needed to be strong willed so that I had clothes on my back. This was because my birth mother was a drug addict and an alcoholic. Even though I was only two years old, I had to cook, and take care of myself and my brother. I was determined to live and carry on to my greatest ability. Never in my life would I have though that I could come this far. • 30. The Rate Of Aggregation, Differential, Sedimentation, And... 4. NEED FOR STABILISATION Although the small size of nanocrystals leads to several advantages, but at the same time, it can lead to stability concerns as well. Theoretically, if we increase the drug surface area, it leads to an increase in Gibbs free energy. The system tries to reverse this increase by agglomeration/aggregation, ultimately leading to increased particle size and reduced stability. Principally, the literature describes three mechanisms for aggregation prekinetic aggregation, differential sedimentation and orthokinetic aggregation. In any dispersion, the particles are in continuous Brownian motion, and they may collide and stick together as a result of the attractive forces between them. Such a mechanism for aggregation is known as prekinetic aggregation. The rate of aggregation in such cases would be determined by the frequency of collisions as well as the chances of cohesion during collision. Differential sedimentation assumes importance when particles of varying sizes and densities settle in a suspension. Faster settling particles collide with the slower moving ones, thereby resulting in aggregation. Lastly, the orthokinetic aggregation mechanism describes the aggregation brought about by increased particle collisions, arising out of particle transportation as a result of fluid motion. Orthokinetic aggregation depends upon initial particle size and velocity gradient, but is independent of temperature. Apart from aggregation, another stability issue ... • 32. Pros And Cons Of Batman And Superman Batman and Superman are DC s most valuable super heroes. They fight crime, help those in need, and protect their cities. Truly that is hero, someone we should look up to. Or is it? Today I was tasked with deciding whether or not, Batman and Superman do more harm than good as role models and cultural icons. I have come to the conclusion that they do more harm than good. It s important to note that I will be basing most of my information on the Superman and Batman movie. I have 3 main reasons why I believe this, 1 they are not relatable, 2 they solve their problems through violence, and 3 they are very dark. Let s begin with point one. The first reason why I agree with the statement, As role models and cultural icons, Batman and Superman do more harm than good. Is because of how unrelatable they are to people. Starting with Superman, he is an alien from a different world. He has powers that no one on earth can attain, unbreakable skin, laser eyes, the ability to fly by himself, and X ray vision (Superman s). No one can relate to any of those powers (Superman). Meanwhile, Batman is an orphan, who has billions of dollars. Some people can relate with the loss of a loved one but very, very few have access to even a million dollars. We look at them and see something that we can never be. Batman and Superman are role models and cultural icons that do more harm than good. The second reason why Batman and Superman as role models and cultural icons do more harm than good is because they solve the majority of their problems through violence. Dr. Sharon Lamb states, Today s superhero is too much like an action hero who participates in non stop violence...rarely speaks to the virtue of doing good for humanity, (Chivers). She is 100% correct in this. In the 2013 movie, Man of Steel, our hero flies about destroying the city he swore to protect. Buildings fall, lives are taken, and superman brings up no mention of any virtue by the end of the film. He uses violence. This continues on in basically every show that includes him. Bad guy shows up, does a bad thing, and Superman flies over, beats up the villain and wins the day. Now we examine Batman. According to Matthew Sag, The essence of trolling is that the plaintiff is more focused on the business of litigation than on selling a product or service or licensing their IP to third parties to sell a product or a service ( Copyright Trolling, An Empirical Study page 4). Copyright trolls seek to acquire their income from suing others on copyright violations, rather than continually creating new works and using copyright to protect them. Copyright, whether one agrees with the concept or not, was not designed for this purpose. People should not be allowed to make a business off of suing others. This is not only unjust, but wastes the court s time with actual crimes. The United States must reform its current laws to prevent this type of behavior from happening. According to Parker Higgins, Like email spammers, copyright trolls depend on the ability to cheaply cast a very wide net, sending out hundreds or thousands of accusations at once and getting settlement payments back from some percentage ( Copyright trolls suffer big loss par. 3). Many trolls do not target specific groups or people; rather, they spread it in such a way that any company or organization can accidentally misuse it.
