1. What challenges confronted BAL and which were of its own making?
In 1980s, the government s impact was the most challenging factor confronting BAL. It witnessed
an increase in both foreign and domestic competitors because of the Indian government s
permission of foreign technology and local manufacturing capacity expansion. Accordingly,
Japanese products were more preferred than domestic brands due to its durability and eye catching
design. Apart from Yamaha, Suzuki, and Piaggio, Honda who took out the major market share of
BAL scooter and motorcycle segments was its fiercest rival.
Since 1990, due to the economic downturn, two wheelers vehicles were no longer the first

They had found that this target market predominantly valued the purchasing maintenance cost and
the low fuel consumption. BAL also penetrated secondary market to buy BAL s used vehicles with
higher price.
In order to match consumers want, BAL reorganized its structure to obtain better cross functional
cooperation among Marketing, R D and Production departments. New products were introduced
periodically and spare parts were sold nation wide with low cost, which reinforced BAL s
competitiveness. Beside strengthening cost advantage, they established a technology acquisition
agreement with Orbital, which provided solutions to improve fuel efficiency and decrease emission
levels.
In order to enhance the competency in distribution, BAL connected with private transport
companies and trained dealers staff to improve their technical capability. BAL also supported their
dealers in planning sales targets for specific products, services and advertising. Regarding
developing dealer network, regional depots were built up to quicken inventory turnover and supply
a full range of two and three wheelers, hence encouraging dealer loyalty.
In addition, BAL provided customers with consumer finance to purchase vehicles by establishing
the Bajaj Auto Finance Ltd. Finally, BAL executives invested more in Marketing Department to
secure brand awareness and preference as well as to introduce new vehicles. BAL not only

4. Google Employee Incentives
Introduction
There are very few companies in the world that are successful in two realms: its personnel realm
and the business realm. It has become common knowledge that Google s employees love working
at Google. They don t simply like it, they love it. Many of Google s employees are computer
programmers and coders, and it takes more than money to both motivate them and keep them
content. Google s original campus in Mountain View, California, otherwise known as GooglePlex,
offers employees everything they may need or want and more leaving them with little reason to go
home at all. It is abundantly clear that this costly approach has paid huge dividends to Google.

The reality is, Google offers even more to its employees. In November 1999, Google hired its
first full time chef, Charlie Ayers, who was previously the chef for the Grateful Dead. Ayers won a
cook off competition with other contestants and what was then 40 employees chose him. Google
now has over 30,000 employees around the globe.
According to Jordan Newman, a Google spokesman, Google s goal is to create the happiest,
most productive workplace in the world. In order to do so, it has created a workplace where
there are massages, on site dry cleaning, yoga classes, gourmet cafes, daycare, transportation
services, car wash and oil changes, foreign language classes, and health care facilities all for free.
This doesn t include the Lego play rooms, TGIF drinking days, secret rooms behind bookcases, and
couches that consist of rowboats with cushions.
This also doesn t scratch the surface of what is likely the most envied element of engineers jobs
at Google: the 20% rule. This rule requires that engineers spend 20% of their time or one day each
week on any project that he or she chooses. In fact, Gmail was created in the twenty percent time,
and it took years of convincing to get Google to go through with it, only because they were afraid of
stretching themselves too thin and extending themselves into areas that they were not previously
focused on. Clearly though, they bought into it in the end, and it worked.
However, make no mistake: Google

One of the most iconic American brands is Budweiser, from the parenting company Anheuser
Busch InBev SA/NV (AB InBev. Budweiser started its journey in 1857 when Adolphus Anheuser
migrated to the United States from Germany. Anheuser finally settled in St. Louis, Missouri where

6. Theme Of The Sniper
In the anti war short story The Sniper written by Liam O Flaherty, a Republican sniper embraces
his rifle and conceals on the roof top without a sound, waiting to kill his enemies. The sniper
accidentally gives away his location when he lights up a cigarette and exposes himself to the enemy
sniperon the opposite roof. The two snipers from two conflicting sides then faces each other off
through an innovative war; using both their shooting skills and intelligence. Subsequently, the
Republican sniper pulls out a brilliant plan and he successfully shoots out a deadly bullet to the
enemy sniper. After the line of life and death, the Republican sniper decides to identify the enemy
sniper s face; he slowly turns the dead body around and finds... Show more content on

In addition, when the Republican drops to the ground after his injury, he leans against a parapet,
which can also be explained as a protective barrier that the sniper uses to hide from all the cruelty
and brutal faces of war. All these images demonstrate isolation, desolation and the brutality formed
by the war and the images are formed by intention to show the readers the identifiable harmful
impacts that a war can carry.
The author not only uses the settings to intensify the evilness of war; but he also introduces
several scenes of situation irony into the story to further explain the downside effects of war.
For instance, when the Republican sniper riskily lights up a cigarette, the light will glow and
expose his location on the rooftop. The irony unpredictably occurs when an old lady spy points
at the sniper s location to his enemy. This is ironic because no one expects an old and weak lady
with trembling legs would secretly be a spy. This forces the Republican sniper to kill the lady
instantly because otherwise, he will be killed by his enemies. Another ironic situation takes place
when the Free stater soldier arrives at the O Connell bridge in an armoured truck; a tank like
transportation machine, and yet he is killed by the Republican sniper when he peeks out the car
window with half of his body outside. This is ironic because it is surprising that someone would be
that imprudent when knowing that there is a sniper watching his every

The internationally recognized South Korean electronics company, Samsung Group, is accredited in
the Fortune global top company but 2.5 decades prior, the company was initially just a small
domestic grocery store (Samsung, 2017; Lifewire, 2017). The company s product quality, design,
pricing, and technology has not always been known as it is known in the past decade. Founder, Lee

and finally to the success of electronics in the 1960s; before becoming one of the top five most
powerful Asian company in the world. Samsung s history is particularly longer than most
companies but the development towards their success is intriguing; revealing multiple setbacks
including the Korean War, and a long occurring transformation before championing one of the best

8. Miles Davis Influence
Question 11
Miles Davis was one of the greatest and most important figures in jazz history. Miles Dewey
Davis III was a musician, composer, arranger, producer and bandleader all in one. Davis was at
the forefront of almost every major development in jazz after World War 2. He was one of the most
influential and innovative musicians of the twentieth century along with Charlie Parker and Louis
Armstrong. His versatility landed him at the forefront of bebop, cool jazz, modal, hard bop and
fusion (Kirker, 2005:1). His sound went on to influence many other newer forms of music today
such as pop, soul, R amp;B, funk and rap. As one of the last trumpet players, Davis employed a

from cool jazz and announced the arrival of hard bop (Sales, 1992:171). Hard bop was the
evolvement and development from bop during the 1950s and 1960s, often regarded as a reaction to
the restraint and intellectualism of cool jazz (Kingman, 1990:389).
With the installation of the Miles Davis Quintet, Davis picked up where his late forties sessions
left off. Eschewing the rhythmic and harmonic complexity of the prevalent bebop, Davis was
given space to play long, legato and essentially melodic lines, where he would begin to explore
modal music, his lifelong obsession. Modal jazz is a new venture for jazz both harmonically
and structurally, it no longer used the chord progressions of standard tunes as the basis for
improvisation replaced by a succession of scales on which the performer improvised instead
(Kingman, 1990:390). Davis had definitely gone a long way in his trumpet playing since
collaborating with Parker. No longer dependant on bebop phrasing, he chose a minimalist
approach instead. Ornate phrasing gave way to a smattering of tones. He was also utilizing a
Harmon mute, sometimes adding reverb, which had a whisper effect and personalised his sound.
Elements of texture and silence between notes were becoming more dominant (Kirker, 2005:2). By
1958, he had freed himself by using modal scales and slower moving harmonies. Milestones

indicates a chemical change because bubbles were created from these two chemicals mixing.
Then in scenario four the substance foamed and became pasty, after five drops of hydrochloric
acid was added into two grams of sodium bicarbonate. According to the table above the pH level

Methodological Issues While there are many people that think that evidence based practice and
practice based evidence should stay the way that they are. If you took both of these and used
them together it could provide the appropriate treatments and meet the needs of the patients.
Evidence based practice and practice based evidence play a big part in the treatment of a patient
and their mental health. Evidence based treatment would be a lot better if the research was
focused on each patient and what their needs are. There a many mental disorders that require
different treatments and most of them are evidence based, but this does not look at each patient
individually, and there a many people with health problems that could use both of the research
and evidence to help them get better. Evidence based practice and practice based evidence are a
big part of a treatment process. These two can provide appropriate treatment that is needed to
make advances in health care practices. Having enough evidence helps people determine
whether to do something or not. To provide the best possible treatment for each patient you have
to take information and see what will work best for each of your patients. Some will work and
some will not work. Methodological issues can arise with in any type of research and some are
more controversial than others. In the article Practice Based Evidence: Back to the Future (2011)

having a basketballIQ was more important than natural athleticism.
While Devin was in Michigan, he had played for the freshman, junior varsity, and varsity basketball

was a high school standout. As a sophomore he had developed into one of the best guards in the
coastal area of the gulf. He had averaged 22.7 points per game. He also had been drawing interest
in Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Georgetown, Florida, Georgetown, Alabama, and Missouri. Later
that season Devin scored 54 points in the MLK shootout.

information is updated regularly by those with authority to access this information.

However, even when given perfect information there are too many variables for even an
experienced individual to give an optimal solution for the problem or objective at hand. Therefore,
to be successful, you must determine how well managers are able to use the information that they
are given.
There are a couple more reasons why MIS tend to fail and meet the expectations of the managers
that are using them. One of these reasons is interdepartmental communication. The author of this
specific article believes that when MIS provide up to date information on what each department in a
business is doing, it negatively affects the performance of the business, contrary to what most
believe. This was implemented into MIS because designers thought that with interdepartmental
communication, decisions can be made more effectively and efficiently, which does sound right at
first. However the author, gives an example of how this system is ineffective and should be
abandoned. He mentions a real life example involving a merchandising department and a
purchasing department in a store. The merchandising department gives the purchasing department
an exact figure on how many items they should buy to be re sold to consumers, based off of a price
demand curve. The purchasing department being slightly pessimistic and not wanting to pay as

15. The Ethics Of Prenatal Screening
Ethics of Prenatal Screening
Prenatal screening itself is a moment that holds uncertainty and can change the lives of those
involved. . The chance of having a boy or girl seems to be the least of worries of expectant
parents. Having a child with disability has been stigmatized to be a much bigger issue that is
considered a problem in society. Even with issues surrounding prenatal screening, and it being
ethical or the right thing to do, the worries of people with disabilities about how prenatal screening
is handled can be answered. Tom Shakespeare references in, Solving the Disability Problem Whose
Responsibility? how scientific progress has created a situation in which childhood disability has
moved from being considered a random chance or act of God, to something which can often be
anticipated, and thus prevented (Shakespeare 2005). Before science could tell us the gender of our
future children, and any other problem that may entail, it was up to chance and choice whether one
would follow through with complete pregnancy. With technology and advances in prenatal
screening, anticipation is removed, predominantly due to the fear of having to raise a child with a
disability. In contrast to negative and opposing views, Madeo et. al mentioned Lardy et. al s study,
which showed that those who suffer from a disability have the ability to maintain, friendships, hold
jobs, and go to school (Madeo et. al 2010, 1778). Even with attitudes, which dishearten the lives of

Literary Romanticism
Literary Romanticism is a movement in literature present in the history of virtually every European
country, the USA, and Latin America. It lasted from approximately 1750 to about 1870 and was
characterized by reliance on the imagination and emotional subjectivity of approach, freedom of
thought and expression, and an idealization of nature. The term romantic first appeared in 18th
century English and originally meant romancelike #8212;that is, resembling the fanciful character
of medieval romances. Romanticism was merely a product of bygone ages as are all works of
literature.

Because the profession of law was prohibited to Jews in Germany at that time, Heine, who was
born Jewish, converted to Christianity in 1825 in order to obtain a law degree. He received his
degree but never practiced law. In 1826 Die Harzreise (The Harz Journey 1887), a prose account
of a trip he had taken to the Harz, a mountain range in central Germany, was published. This work,
with its wit and grace of style, won success immediately and established Heine s literary reputation.
In 1827 his Buch der Lieder (Book of Songs, 1846) was published. Many noted composers,
including Franz Schubert of Austria and Robert Schumann of Germany, wrote music to accompany
these verses.
From 1827 to 1831 Heine lived in England and Italy as well as in various parts of Germany.
During that period he wrote the three volumes of travel stories that, with Die Harzreise, make up
the four volumes of his Reisebilder (1826 1831; Travel Pictures, 1887). He also wrote a number
of prose works in which he displayed sympathy with the democratic ideas of the French Revolution
(1789 1799) and bitterly satirized the feudal regimes of the German kingdoms and duchies (see
Feudalism).
In the 1830s Heine became a prominent member of a literary group known as Junges Deutschland

domination of the monarchy and the church. He had hoped to obtain a position as a professor of

Often limited to children only, in today s society play can be associated with adults as well.
Play cannot be easily defined, but could be described by activity or behavior desired by an
individual for pleasure (Henderson, 2010, p. 32). Often seen in leisure activity, it also has the
ability to allow someone to express themselves in a passionate, energetic, imaginary way,
whether the play is done in a systematic or an unsystematic manner, with no tangible goal or
reward expected (Henderson, 2010, p. 9 p. 33). Play differs from leisure, recreation, and sport
significantly in the fact that play refers to behavior rather than the activity itself (Henderson,
2010, p. 45); however, it could be seen by some as an essential part of life that enables an
individual to deal with internal conflict, socialize with others, and grants them the ability to

How is a fairy tale different from a juvenile fantasy literature novel? Many times both the fairy
tale and the novel contain similar elements that make up a fairy tale, but why are they categorized
differently? Is it the length of the novel compared to the fairy tale? Or is it something else?
According to Crago, A fairy taleis a narrative form which represents a society s collective concerns
with some aspect of growing up, and it explores these concerns at the level of magical thought
(176). The juvenile fantasyliterature novel, on the other hand, is a novel intended for a certain
age group and that is usually of more length than a fairy tale. The Water Babies by Charles
Kingsley, Alice s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, Peter Pan by J. M. Barrie, and the
Wonderful Wizard of Ozby L. Frank Baum, all show different aspects of how a fairy tale transitions
into a juvenile fantasy literature novel.
The Water Babies is one novel that shows the transition from a fairy tale to a juvenile fantasy
literature novel. This novel is strongly didactic in that it contains many lessons for children. One
of these lessons is a generic one that most children learn, and that is to do unto others as you want
to be treated. However, Tom never learned this lesson though he learns it after he gets a pebble put
into his mouth by Mrs. Bedonebyasyoudid because he had played tricks on the sea anemones by

21. A New And Accurate Digital Approximation Of The Fractional...
Abstract In this article a new and accurate digital approximation of the fractional order
differentiator (FOD) in the form of FIR filter is presented. This approach is based on power series
expansion of fractional order systems. First, the first order digital differentiators can be simply
derived from a classical continuous time approximate differentiator by using the Bilinear
transformation. Then, the transfer function of digital FOD is obtained by taking fractional power
of the transfer function of conventional first order digital differentiator. Next, the power series
expansion is used to design digital FIR fractional order differentiator, with closed form formula.
Finally, some examples are presented through the paper to illustrate the performance and the
effectiveness of the proposed design method. Keywords Fractional order differentiator; FIR filter;
power series expansion; Bilinear transformation. I.INTRODUCTION In the last decades,
considerable interest in fractional order operators has been simulated by the applications of these
concepts in different areas of engineering [1 10]. Analog and digital implementations of this type of
operators are then important research topics. Because they cannot be exactly implemented, only a
limited implementation can however be achieved in a frequency band of interest using
approximation techniques. In reference [4], we can find a good summary of the existing methods
of their analog implementation by rational functions. In

22. Essay On Women In Athenian Religion
Since human civilization, women never had equality with men. Even in 2018, women are still
fighting for their rights. Women s freedom has always depended on the time period that a women
was raised, their culture, their religion and their society that they are apart of. A prime example that
illustrates this is comparing the women that lived in Athens during the classical age and women in
North America before they were given the right to vote.
There are many opinions about how athenian women were treated and respected during the classical
age. One thing that historians agree upon is that women had great power in religion. There were
many priestesses that contributed to the religion. It must be noted that religion was part of
athenians everyday ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those who didn t contribute to the religion played a large role as a wife and mother (O Neal 115).
They were not educated on how to read or write (O Neal). This may contribute to one of the
reasons why there were no female writers. Therefore, all information we have dated from the
classical age from Athens was of a man s view. It is agreed upon that the Athenian society was
patriarchal.Women were not allowed to take part in politics: In Athens,[...] women were legal
nonentities whom the greek excluded from any participation in the political or intellectual life
of the city. (O Neal 117). Regardless, women were acknowledged and appreciated when
appropriate. For instance, a great leader that represents women s influence in religion is Chrysis
who was a priestess of Athena Polias. She is known for making the Pythais festival beneficial for
athens and Delphi. (Connelly 1). She was then recognized for her greatness: The city also voted
to grant her, as well as all her descendants, an impressive series of rights and privileges: status as a

23. Speech On The Bag Of The Road By Cormac Mccarthy
Good morning/afternoon everyone, today I will be presenting my show bag of Cormac McCarthy
s dystopian novel The Road .
The Road is a post apocalyptic tale of a tough, miserable journey of a father and his son heading
south through North America over a period of several months, across a landscape ruined by and
unknown cataclysm. This event has destroyed almost all of known civilisation to humans, save
various survivors and structures once known as cities.
The items I have brought in that are symbolic to the text is the following (pulling them out one by
one): A horseshoe (to represent luck and hope), a multi tool (to represent survival), a Jar of ash (to
represent the lifelessness and landscape), a can of Coca Cola (to represent the past and the boy in
the novel) and finally a simple backpack (to represent a journey). The multi tool is related to
physical aspects of a human because it gets the job done, for example the mini saw is used to cut
branches off trees, similar to how the human has hands to prepare food or put up a tent.
Firstly, the rusty Horseshoe, it used to go on a horse, obviously, but it can also be classified as a
lucky charm. Luck was one of the main characteristics that kept the man and the child alive, so
they thought. But relying on luck in a time like that wouldn t be the best of ideas, this is because
most of your survival comes with your skills and wits. However with luck comes hope, like how

A Lesson in Oppression From the beginning of time and around the world, women have been
subjected to patriarchal oppression in various forms. From economic hardships such as wage gaps
or an inability to own property, to social mores such as submission in marriage and sexual
objectification, women are systematically treated as second class citizens without a voice. African
Americanwomen have faced these gendered challenges in addition to racial discrimination in the
forms of slavery, unfair taxation, red lining, unequal access to education and derogatory media
representation to name a few. Passing by Nella Larsenportrays two African American women as
main characters who experience racial and gender oppression in various ways. Webster s
Dictionary defines oppression as: the state of being subject to unjust treatment or control,
prolonged cruel or unjust treatment or control; mental pressure or distress. Larsen s story delves
into social and feminist issues of oppression such as loss of identity, oppressiveness of marriage,
women s independence relating to women s lack of independence, the importance of marriage in
society, how raceand class function in society, and how relationships are dictated by race, class, and

disease commonly called Down Syndrome exists because of extra genetic material on the 21st

not the same as speed but it is the amount of data it can send each second which does speed up

There are several advantages of using the existing rule sets already created on the Snort web site.
One advantage of using the existing rules is that they have been created to work effectively against
the common vulnerabilities. Creating your own rule sets require a working knowledge of Snort and
having the outcome of the created rule may not yield the desired effect that the administrator is
seeking.
6. Describe (in plain English) at least one type of rule set you would want to add to a high level
security network and why?
A rule set that I would add to a high level network would be an app detect rule. With this rule the
traffic that occurs in various applications that deal with the network would be controlled. This is
especially important because if an application within the network is compromised, it could be
utilized to gain access to the network.
7. If a person with malicious intent were to get into your network and have read/write access to
your IDS log or rule set how could they use that information to their advantage?
If someone with malicious intent was to gain read/write access to your IDS log or rule set, they
could use that information to determine how your IDS was configured. Especially if detailed
logging is set up. The information could provide the information of what rule sets are being utilized

40. What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Telescope
The refractor telescope has many advantages and disadvantages. One of the disadvantages is that
the lenses are made of glasses therefore it has to be perfect with no air bubbles or scratches in the
glass as this will impair the users viewing. Another disadvantage is that lense are weakest around
the edges because they are thinnest there and that is the only place they are being supported by the
telescope so this can lead to easy breakage. The lense can have colour distortion which means when
white lightgoes through the lense it is split into colours. Since violet right is refracted more than
red, the violet is brought to a focus clearer and this will make the image coloured and blurred, this
is called chromatic aberration. Some advantages... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The light enters through the objective lense and meets at a focal point. That is then magnified
through an eyepiece where we see the image. The effects of light passing through lenses are
different depending on which lense it is passed through. Double convex lenses works by
refracting light rays that are travelling parallel to the principal axis towards the normal surface.
When it hits the boundary the light is passing to a more dense medium which is usually glass or
plastic. Since the light rays are passing from a medium that it travels fast in to a medium that they
travel slow in, it will bend towards the normal line. Which is shown on this diagram. An image is
formed in a refracting telescope because the first lense (objective lense) is convex and when the
light travels through the lense because the surface is transparent the light travels through the
lense and meets a focal point on the other side to create an image that is real,
magnified(compared to when viewing with the naked eye) and inverted because the image is
formed by real rays that refract and go through the lense instead of reflecting like a mirror. For
example if an astronomer is looking at the moon through a refractor telescope the image he will see
is real but smaller. The eyepiece lense is also inverted (convex) because this allows the image to be
inverted again so it is the right way up for our eyes to see. This formula lets us find the distance of
image1/f=1/do+1/di. An example of using this formula is if a 4 cm object is placed 12 cm in front
with a focal length of 8cm. 1/f=1/do+1/di, в…›=1/12+1/di, в…› 1/12 =1/di, 1/24=1/di, di = 24 this
equation allows us to find the distance of

41. Why The Us Must Not Adopt Ifrs Essay
Reasons why the US Must Not Adopt IFRS
Globalization has been changing the world. It has interconnected people, nations, and even
businesses. TodayВґs business can share information to investors around the world thanks to the
intelligent software of the actual society. Being more specific, the way in which investors and users
evaluate businesses performance is through the information contemplated in their financial
statements. These financial statements illustrate the current assets, liabilities, and stockholder
equity a company has in order to help users take economic decisions. However, not all the
companies are regulated to provide the same structuralized information around the world. Each
country possesses its own accounting standard that regulates the preparation of financial statements
of a company. In that way, companies information might differ between countries making the
comparability between financial statements difficult to be implemented by users in order to assess
the performance of foreign businesses. In view of the need of a globally accepted accounting
standard that promotes uniform standards for worldwide financial reporting, the International
Accounting Standards Committee (IASC), which then becomes replaced by the International
Accounting Standard Board in 2001, was created (Cathey and Schroeder 130). The IASB issues
International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) that stands as the set of accounting standards
that prepare and present the financial

42. Squealer s Name In Animal Farm By George Orwell
If I m gonna tell you a real story, I m gonna start with my name (Lamar). A name means a lot
about a person. It shows that a person acts a certain way, the way someone looks like something,
or even how someone fills and shapes their name into how they want to be shown. George Orwell s
Animal Farm shows this with a pig named Squealer. Squealer s nameis a great representative of his
personality traits because the character spreads propaganda and is very persuasive.

44. Anthropology In Sports
My personal interest in sports is based on how my parents and other family members nurtured
me as a child and youth. My continuous interest in sports has influenced my choice of this topic
to provide me a field experience and a deeper understanding. I have always been interested and
engaged in play and sports. Volleyball is my favorite sport and was the first organised sport I
played in junior secondary school at age 12. I have been involved in several competitive sports
at from the amateur to the national/elite level. I have participated in team sports (e.g., volleyball
and soccer), field events (e.g., high jump, long jump), and track events (e.g., 100m, 200m,
400m, 800). I chose to focus on volleyball for this project because it is a sport with which I am
most comfortable and familiar. 1.4 Justification of Study The anthropology of sports is a cross
cultural sub discipline that focuses on analyses of sports related social problems (Blanchard
1995:23). Although physical anthropologists for decades have done studies on body types,
morphology, and functions, less work has been done in the area of cultural, social and
psychological settings with regards to the way individuals live and also perform (Malina 1972).

46. The Expansion Of Ordovician Life
Ordovician Period: During the Ordovician Life expanded in diversity tremendously. There were
extensive reef complexes in the tropics. The early Ordovician was thought to be quite warm, at
least in the tropics. Despite the tremendous expansion of life during the Ordovician Period there
was a devastating mass extinction of organisms at the end of the Ordovician. This extinction was
one of the greatest mass extinction ever recorded in EarthHistory with over 100 families going
extinct. One of the reasons is that it was the breakup and movement of the large super continent
into many fragments. However, modern biology teaches us that this would not likely lead to
extinctions, rather it would provide additional niche space for groups to expand into.

47. Analysis On Feeder Reconfiguration Problem
Feeder Reconfiguration is basically an optimization problem which has several objectives and
operating constraints. A. Merlin and H. Black were the first to implement optimization techniques
to solve a Feeder Reconfiguration problem. Optimization is a mathematical tool to obtain an
optimized solution. There are numerous techniques to solve an optimizationproblem where in each
technique will yield a different network topology and different optimized solution. Heuristic and
meta Heuristic methods were used in the early 90 s to solve feeder reconfiguration problem. These
methods uses many assumptions to yield an optimal solution. However, the solution obtained by
heuristic method is considered to be sub optimal in compared with the... Show more content on

The main idea behind considering these constraint is get rid of from unwanted current from the
system s current flow. So we are considering many constraints for following the radial
configuration of the network. For choosing the switch also we are following some rules. We need
to close the switches of the mesh which is not at all a part of loop or no sources has been
connected. Limit on operation of Switches: [12]
The tie switches and the sectionalizing switches have a constraints on number of times they can be
operated in order for the system to operate normally. The feeder reconfiguration problem is an
optimization problem which considers all the possible constraints and hence this constraint should
also be taken into account. Maintaining radial nature of the network: [16] As the topology of the
network is being changed from time to time, reconfiguration should be done in such a way

48. The Issue Of Distributive Justice
The issue of distributive justice and the question of whether it should be up to the possessor to do
what they please with the money and property that they earn, inherit, or otherwise acquire has long
been one of the most contentious political issues. This issue has been the cause of countless
revolutions and was one of the key differences between the powers in the Cold War. While this
question is often viewed in black and white terms, in reality the answer to this question is not
simple and straightforward.
During the Cold War the economic views of communism, associated with the Soviet Union, and
capitalism, associated with the United States and other western bloc nations, were generally viewed
in black and white terms. Policies that advocated the redistribution of wealth, but were not actually
communist, nevertheless tended to be associated with communism. Despite the fall of the Soviet
Union, this association continues to be made, especially in the United States (Maltsev and Skaskiw
54). However, the communism of the Soviet Union was not a perfect example of the fair
redistribution of wealth, nor was the United States without policies that redistributed wealth
(Beckert 189; Buchanan 168). As such, an association with communism and the Soviet Union is not
a truly valid reason for one to reject any policy that redistributes wealth.
Oftentimes, redistribution of wealth and restrictions on how an individual can use their wealth is
necessary, in order to bring about more

49. The Financial Crisis Of The Foreclosure Crisis
Introduction
During the real estate boom of the early 2000 s Wall Street began offering a product called
mortgage backed securities that were essentially multiple home loans bundled together. They then
started selling off pieces of those loans to investors who wanted exposure to the booming real
estate market in the form of a tradeable security. As the popularity of mortgage backed securities
increased the banks needed more product which were more mortgages. The pool of borrowers
with a good credit history diminished the lenders lowered their qualification standards to satisfy
the growing mortage demand. To entice more borrowers and speculators lenders began to offer
loans to people with bad credit and even no down payment. The term liar ... Show more content on

The crises showed just how interconnected the banking system is throughout the world. The
Lehman Brothers bank closure in 2008 created a major financial crisis around the world due to its
influence (The Economist, 2013). It took the government s massive bail outs to prevent total
collapse of the financial system and to some extent economic collapse of the country. This
government action set a precedent and to some sent a message that the reckless action by the
banks in the name of profit is fine because they now have a safety net. It is a good example of how
the collapse of a big financial institution that has national and global influence can affect several
interrelated firms to the detriment of the country s economic interests. This paper therefore,
examines the notion too big to fail in relation to banking.
The Concept Too Big to Fail Kaufman (2014) explains that the concept too big to fail is one that is
complex to warrant regulation to prevent it from failing. Due to its influence, the government must
intervene to prevent it from becoming insolvent. The special regulation to prevent failure includes
a requirement for higher capital, putting in place measures such as increased liquidity. Besides,
frequent supervision by regulatory bodies like the Basel Committee, the Federal Reserve, or the
Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) are necessary to prevent the collapse of too big to

Samsung Electronics: Innovation and Design Strategy Introduction: The case study commences
with the integration of innovative design and brand management by Samsung Electronics which
started a new trend in the electronics industry. As discussed in the case, initially Samsung was not

Along with this Samsung also increased the investments in their R amp;D centers. After doing
the trend analysis for the Exhibit 3 which shows the Samsung R amp;D budget and percentage
sales, We arrive at the conclusion that the Samsung s R amp;D budget increased till the year
2007 linearly. But there is decline in the percentage of sales in the year 2007, which suggests that
the Samsung will need to rethink this strategy. There is an urgent need to optimize the cost
related to Samsung s R amp;D expenditure to prevent the decline of sales in future. Samsung
globalized their R amp;D network worldwide to develop technologies which can be
commercialized in the future. Basically the main idea behind the globalization of R amp;D
network is to: * Focus on innovation and generating new products for global market. * There is a
huge scope of product improvement. * This provides an access to the emerging markets. *
Leverages the market opportunity for the firm. User Centric Design Philosophy Samsung s
philosophy was to strike the balance between the reasons and feelings. This was done by them with
the rationalization of the design of product by using geometric and technological parameters and

52. The Trend Of The American Hippie Movement
Introduction
The major trend of the American hippie movement from the 1960s had a major influence on the
way New Zealand used drugs and how international trends still influence drug use today. Drug
use patterns in New Zealand are very similar to other countries in the western world but also
shows how some popular trends of Hard Drugs did not become a huge problem due to the
isolation of New Zealand and how hard it was to bring in illegal drugs such as heroin. How
international trends and ideals reach New Zealand show how easy it is to influence a large
percentage of a population to try drugs, legal or not. The ideals of rebellion highlights the use of
drugs because of the moral values and rules set by mainstream society and the government. It is
and was an easy way to reject mainstream rules if you didn t want to live by them. The 1960s
created a culture of mass following that rejected mainstream life and rules that promoted peace
and love making the use of drugs morally okay because that is what they believed. As society
moved on from hippie culture it introduced drugs that were highly addictive and dangerous, in
comparison to the drugs that were widely used in the 60s and early 70s LSD and Marijuana have
been the safest drugs to use. Popular culture that grew in the 70s and 80s were punk and rock that
are easily recognised with being linked to drugs. Rebellious ideals became popular as it went
against mainstream society but also made a bad guy seem cool. This
