Current Policy Situation Of Australia
Current policy situation
At present, asylum seekers who arrived in Australia by boat on or after 13 August 2012 and are
granted bridging visas are not allowed to work (Correa Velez, Gifford and Bice, 2014, p. 9). Asylum
seekers who are living in the community on bridging visas have no right to a family reunion and are
not able to re enter Australia if they choose to travel internationally.
Australia has obligations to the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights
(ICESCR) to promote and ensure the economic, social and cultural rights of all people in Australia ,
this includes asylum seekers (Australian Human Rights Commission, 2013, p. 5). Further, under
Australia s International human rights obligations they are required to permit asylum seekers to live in
the community, while their claims for refuge are being processed. Unless they are assessed as posing a
threat to the community. If an asylum seeker is considered to be suitable to live in the community,
there are strong conditions attached to the bridging visa, this includes a prohibition to work.
The Australian Human Rights Commission (2013, p. 5) argues that releasing asylum seekers into the
community while their claims are being processed is beneficial for their health and well being.
Although, little to no financial assistance is supplied. Asylum seekers that are released into the
community on these visas are not entitled to claim any Centrelink or healthcare benefits, unless they

Personal Values And Beliefs Regarding Leadership
Leadership If you actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you
are a leader (John Quincy Adams, as cited in Forbes, 2014, p. 1). A leader is mentor, guiding others to
their best. In this paper, I will reflect on my personal values and beliefs regarding leadership. Next, I
will discuss a leader in my life that personally resonates with me. I will then discuss the attributes of
my chosen leader and relate them to theory on leadership, emotional intelligence, self awareness,
group dynamics and peace and power concepts and identify the leadership style that my chosen leader
embodies. Finally, I will discuss how my leadership philosophy and the newly acquired theory will
impact my future career as a nurse.
Personal Leadership Values
A leader is more than just running a group; it is some one who impacts at least one other person s life
in a positive way. A leader is someone who can guide others into accomplishing some success and
goals. Furthermore, empower others is essential in the ability to maintain positive leadership. A leader
is caring, must be willing to adapt and share the values of others, while still preserving their own
personal values and beliefs. One aspect of being a good leader is having strong self awareness
described as knowing your own strengths and weaknesses. Emotional intelligence, another aspect of
being a respectable leader, is knowing your inner emotional state and remaining in control of it.

Analysis Of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
I attended the Maverick Theatre Company s production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling
Bee. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a play about a middle school spelling bee held
in one of America s many Putnam Counties. As the bee goes on, each contestant has to come to terms
with themselves, the world around them, and growing up. The promotional material for this
production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee doesn t actually give much away in terms
of what the play is about. The poster, for instance, just has the name of the play, a picture in the
background of someone s anxious feet, and the tagline Winning isn t everything... or is it? If there s a
more vague poster, I don t know what it is. So, I had no real expectations going in. I knew that there
was going to be a spelling bee involved and that this was a musical, and I d heard that there would be
some audience participation and lots of mentions of the word erection. That s about it. The plot of The
25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a bit contrived, though, wholly enjoyable. All of our
characters are introduced in the first song, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. It s a bit of
a contrived way to introduce characters, though it hardly stands out. After all, this is a musical. We
expect songs as a way to advance plot, and here we get introduced to all of our characters and their
initial motivations. Starting off, they re actually a pretty one minded group. They all have

Simon Bolivar Essay
THE BEGINNING
Simon Jose Antonio de la Santisima Trinidad Bolivar was born in Caracas on July 24, 1783 to don
Juan Vicente Bolivar y Ponte y dona Maria de la Concepcion Palacios y Blanco. Simon received an
excellent education from his tutors, Simon Rodriquez and Andres Bello. By the age of nine Bolivar
lost both his parents, and was being taken care of by his uncle don Carlos Palacios. At the age of
fifteen in 1799 he traveled to Spain to receive a better education. In Spain, Bolivar met Maria Teresa
Rodriquez del Toro y Alaysa, they married in 1802. Right after Bolivar and his new wife returned to
Venezuela, she died of malaria or yellow fever. Her death greatly effected Bolivar, he vowed not to

However he was able to recoup his troops in 1813 and institute the Venezuelan Second Republic with
himself as the ruler. By this time Bolivar had not fully established himself as a leader from the
warlords and other patriots. Without their support he was chased out of Venezuela. He took refuge in
Jamaica, till 1817. With the help of King of Haiti who provided him with guns he returned to his
continent. While returning he escaped assination several times, and was constantly on the move in the
rainforests. While doing this he gained support of the plainsman, internationals, and his own
countrymen.
THE WIN
The Battle of Boyaca of August 7, 1819 ended as a victory for Bolivar, and his army. That year he
created the Gran Colombia, a federation including Venezuela, Colombia, Panama, and Ecuador.
Bolivar served as president of the new Republic. On May 23, 1822 all of northern S. America was
liberated and all Royalist opposition eliminated. Bolivar had larger plans for the continent, he wanted
to liberate Peru. In September of 1823 Bolivar arrived in Peru by August 1824 Bolivar s troops
defeated the Spanish army in the battle of Junin. On December 9, 1824 all Spains presence was
eliminated in S. America. On August 6, 1825 Congress of Peru created the Republic of Bolivia in
honor of Bolivar.

How Is Celie Presented In The Color Purple
In the novel, The Color Purple, a character by the name of Celie is described as being oppressed. She
is oppressed throughout most of her life, especially as a child. She is constantly being put down by
men that see or talk to her. However, Celie is strong willed and that strength is channeled through how
she deals with how she was treated while being backed by the people who respect her and unified
through the love her and her sister share. Celie s strength is signified from how the men treated her
because every time they attacked her, verbally or physically, she took it and never gave it back. The
first example you see is in the very beginning as it shows her father taking her baby and finding out
that he took another before and they were both sired by him. Another example is when a character by
the name Mister wanted to marry Celie s sister Nettie but ended up with getting Celie because her
father would not allow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the characters that respects Celie is Shug. Shug s respect adds to Celie s strength because Shug
is Mister s girlfriend even though he and Celie are married. Celie s strength is the fact that she does
not care that they are together and still makes friends with Shug and to still have the ability to have
Shug respect her. The other character that respected Celie is Sofia as Celie helped her when she
needed it most. This shows Celie s strength because Sofia was once mad at Celie for telling her
husband to beat her and for Celie to be able to make up for it and get respect from Sofia shows that
Celie is a trapped individual with spurts of life and getting out of her confinement. To have people
respect her giving the circumstances she is in shows that she is stronger than people think and tells the
reader that being oppressed does not mean you will not obtain a voice one

Assessment of the Usefulness of Functionalism in...
Assessment of the Usefulness of Functionalism in Understanding the Family
Functionalism is a structuralist theory. This means it sees the individual as less important as the social
structure of society. It is a top down theory. The family can be defined as an intimate domestic group
composed of people related to each other by blood, sexual relations and legal ties. When assessing
how useful functionalism is when looking at the family, other views/perspectives need to be taken into
account before making an overall conclusion. Views from Talcott Parsons, George Murdock, Ann
Oakley, Edmund Leach, R.D Laing, David Cooper and Friedrich Engels will be taken into account as
well as perspectives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also does not examine alternatives to the family, not considering whether its functions could be
carried out by other social institutions. Murdock is criticised for being Euro centric, as he is only
concerned about the Western families. However, he is supported by anthropologists; Morris (1968)
said the family was a result of biology and culture over generations (socio biology). This could be a
strength as it shows some researchers have the same view.
Talcott Parsons bases his ideas on the family in modern American society. However, despite this his
ideas have more general application since he claims the American family has two basic and irreducible
functions which are common to the family in all societies, unlike Murdock who argued there were
four. These were, the primary socialization of children, where culture is learned and accepted by
children so they know the norms and values that allow society to exist. Secondly the stabilization of
adult personalities, which is where a marriage relationship and emotional security a couple provide for
each other keeps a personality stable, and acts as a counterweight to everyday stresses and strains that
can make a personality unstable. This process is otherwise known as the warm bath theory, where the
family provide a relaxing environment for the male worker to

Patricia Hill Matrix Of Domination
Matrix of domination Matrix of domination is a sociological paradigm, which explains issues of
oppression that concerns gender, race and class, which is looked as being different but in reality is
intertwined. In addition, other classifications such as religion, age or sexual orientation, are included
in the matrix of domination. The theory originates from the theoretical perspective of multiracial
feminism .Patricia Hill introduced the theory of the matrix of domination in her book called Black
Feminist Thought: Knowledge, consciousness and politics of empowerment. In her book, she talks

They shaped my life by making me who I am today. Family has shaped me by family making me
hardworking, ambitious, and encouraging me to strive for the best. My religion has made me very
religious and made me put all my faith in God and has strengthened my morals and values. Education
has taught me to look deeper at certain situation and taught me the importance of education and hard
work. Race, class, gender and sexuality shape the three social institutions. The reason they are shaped
by gender, race, class and sexuality are that they all interconnected with social systems and
institutions. For example, family is a dynamic based on the parents and culture. Gender sexuality,
class and race shape family. The reason it is shaped by gender, sexuality, race, and class is that the
man being the head of the household for most families and the type of household you grew up in. For
example, rather you grew up in a gay or straight household. Your class decides the status of your
family and whether are not you can feed them. Gender, race, class, and sexuality shape religion also
by predominately straight white males being religious leaders. Your religion can determine your
sexuality in many ways for example, most religions preach against homosexuality and if you are
brought up in a strict religious household you have more of a chance of being straight than other
people because you are raised a certain way. Also most religious leaders tend to be from an certain
class depending which church or other religious building you go to .Education is shaped by gender

Essay about Dr. Seuss s Political Education
Dr. Seuss s Political Education:
During a career that spanned much of the last century, Dr. Seuss wrote over forty books, many of
which involve a young protagonist on a quest. The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins (1937),
Bartholomew and the Oobleck (1949), Scrambled Eggs Super! (1953), Horton Hears a Who! (1954), I
Had Trouble in Getting To Solla Sollew (1965), The Lorax (1971), and Oh, the Places You Go! (1991)
all present versions of an episodic narrative, in which the main character strives towards a goal be it
the perfect dish of scrambled eggs in Scrambled Eggs Super!, or stopping dangerous pollution in The

Eyebrows raised as his sneering nephew Wilfred whispers to him, the King s response to the idea that
he chop off his [Bartholomew s] head indicates that he has grown confused and, really, is not
dangerous. A dreadful thought, he says while biting his lip. Though he proceeds with the execution
(which, of course, fails), the King s character implies that un elected leaders are fallible human beings
who, ultimately, will see their error.
Bartholomew s response to the King reinforces the sense that neither he nor any of the citizens of
Didd are in any immediate danger from their ruler. As the Captain of the King s Own Guards travels
with Bartholomew to the palace, Bartholomew feels terribly frightened only for a moment. He soon
realizes that the King can do nothing dreadful to punish me, because I really haven t done anything
wrong. The soft lines of these cartoon style illustrations emphasizes this absence of real danger, and
the bright red hats cascading behind him convey more a spirit of adventure than impending doom. At
the end of the quest, the King pays Bartholomew 500 pieces of gold for the fanciest hat on his head,
which locates Derwin in the role of a benevolent patron. Bartholomew goes home with a sack of gold,
a reward for his good luck and an implicit prize for his being a nice fellow throughout the story. The
morals at the end of the quest, then, seem to

impossible it was to climb the Cliffs, but Fezzik was even able to climb the Cliffs while he was

Then he tied himself to the Turk s waist. Then the Sicilian hopped, clung to the Turks necks.

Strategic Planning Should Not Be Underestimated
Introduction
The importance of strategic planning should not be underestimated. Without proper strategic planning
any organization is just waiting for unseen problems to interrupt normal business operations. Strategic
planning could be considered the backbone of the foundation of an organization. It is the glue which
links the organization s objectives to the customers themselves. Strategic planning helps the
organization in short term goals and perhaps more importantly determine the items need for term
success. The investment in strategic planning can be seen in specific elements which will aid in the
company s ability to grow as well as expand its market area. In addition to goal setting strategic
planning could be used to evaluate what may be beneficial to any organization s success process. This
means determining which avenues to use valuable resources for and others in which to discontinue or
scale back on. Because of the overall importance of strategic planning how to define whether a
strategic planning is valid must also be given much consideration. The Baldridge criteria is a highly
reliable source as well as well known institute, of which many organizations use to base their strategic
planning on. The Baldrige Program oversees the nation s only Presidential award for performance
excellence while offering criteria, assessments, tools, training and a community for those dedicated to
helping organizations improve. According to the Baldridge Performance

The Benefits Of Electroconvulsive Therapy ( Ect )
Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) Question 1: The electroconvulsive therapy is considered one of the
most reliable treatments for depressions. This therapy use electrodes that deliver a very tiny electric
current to the patient s scalp. Due to the fact that this electrical current causes a seizure in the grain,
the patient is under general anesthesia. Doctors recommended this therapy only when a people suffers
from severe depression and is not responsive to pills and psychotherapy. It is also considered, the best
treatment when the patient is a threat for himself or others. Sometimes, it is also use when the
symptoms are too severe that the doctor cannot take the risk of waiting for the medication take effect.
Furthermore, according to the website, the Electroconvulsive Therapy is only one of several brain

depressions. The advantages are as follows: It is the fastest way to relieve symptoms in severely
depressed or suicidal patients. It is also very effective to control mania. Moreover, when a patient is
not responding to medications, ECT is one of the safest therapies to control clinical depression and

Psalm 49
With regard to its content Psalm 49 is, by and large, didactic in nature. It does not sound entirely
pessimistic, rather, it gives some practical and constructive instructions pertaining to a key reality of

enemies at the time of death (v 6) and ii) the fear of the wealthy and powerful who think that they may
have some merit at the time of death (v 17). The Wisdom teacher destroys the fear factor but does not
give an alternative that would explain why we should not fear. Perhaps the whole wisdom tradition

St. Edmond Parish Case Summary
St. Edmond s Catholic Church
A diocese is a district under the pastoral care of a bishop in the Christian Church. St. Edmond Church
is located within The Diocese of Lafayette. The Diocese of Lafayette is made up of 121 church
parishes. It was established in 1918 when it was separated from the Archdiocese of New Orleans and
created as its own. St. Edmond Catholic Church has been a diocesan parish since 1974.
In 1974 Bishop Gerald L. Frey served as the Bishop of the Diocese of Lafayette. As the Lafayette and
surrounding areas grew, so did the need for a new church parish. The first priests assigned to this
newly developed parish were Father Thomas C. Dowling and Father Patrick Mallinson. There was no
formal house of worship constructed, so masses were held in the Villa Maria Apartment Complex.
Masses were offered at five different times on the weekend. As more Catholics began attending, the
need for a new place to offer the Eucharist grew larger weekly. It was in 1974 that the Lafayette
School Board allowed the two priests to use the cafeteria at the Prairie Elementary School as a
temporary church until the diocese could find or construct a building. ... Show more content on

Music Is A Major Part Of Everyday Life
Music is a major part of everyday life. There are not many people that do not listen to music. Music
has been a gradual piece that has changed and evolved over time. From the beginning of time where
only simple melodies where being played on instruments made of animal parts to present day where
there is a mixture of visual representations and various melodies being played at once. This is all due
to the contributions of many artists over the years. Some of these artists where most influential during
the early 1700s around the time classic and baroque music were prevalent. Other artists like the ones
today have been influenced by past composers. This is just a way that although there are many
branches to music each artists influence and works can all be seen together under one big music
family. One of the most well known and influential artists of the 1700s was Ludwig Van Beethoven.
Beethoven was born on December 17th 1770 in Germany. His father was a musician for a court.
During the 1700s top musicians played in courts meaning for the royals of the country. They were
regarded as royalty and important people because they played for king and higher class people. It was
said the Beethoven s father was an alcoholic, this caused him to be a violent stern man. He was very
strict with his children. Beethoven s mother was the opposite. She was said to be a kind and gentle
woman. Woman that loved and cared for her children. She was the opposite of her husband.

at rebelling against God. Once Satan failed he was damned to Hell, which then fueled him to harm

example, But all that fair and good in thy Divine Semblance, and in thy Beauties heav nly Ray United

beauties, but he will not see anything as beautiful as her, and of course Eve falls his manipulative
ways. When Eve was easily persuaded towards the fruit her whole character went from perfect to
imperfect. How could she be so easily convinced? Did she not think of the consequences that come
with eating the fruit? If she was around for some of Raphael s conversations she might have known
better. Once Eve ate the fruit she told Adam about it and forced him to eat the fruit when all along this
fruit is poisonous and off limits. Eve potentially put Adams life in danger because of her poor decision

Gambling Legalization
Gerika Arthur
Professor McPhee
English 300 01
March 14, 2011
Gambling legalization for a promising future Gambling is the act of playing for stakes in the hope of
winning (including the payment of a price for a chance to win a prize). (Oxford dictionary) Many have
their own opinions about gambling and at this time gambling is not legally practiced here in The
Bahamas. Such a move would bring an end to an illicit industry that makes tens of millions of dollars
a year and which employs hundreds; but which contributes little to the general good of the Bahamian
people. (The Bahama Journal 2008). There are many aspects of gambling that can indeed be looked
upon positively. Gambling comes in many forms, including betting in casinos, ... Show more content

Therefore all of the foreigners that are here now using our casinos and going back with everything,
would have to leave that twenty five percent tax fee for the government.
Legalizing gambling would also lead to a decrease in the unemployment rate. In an article entitled
Gambling Entertainment , it states that The large percentage of employment provided by the
Gambling industry, including the land based casinos as well as the Online casinos, puts gambling
industry on the top of society chart straight away. Having gambling legalized would automatically
mean that employment will increase. At present Gambling is in the underground economy mark when
it comes to calculating the unemployment rate. Since it s illegal workers are considered to be
employed, however legally they re counted as unemployed when it comes to the unemployment rate.
In an article written by Olivia Saunders, Saunders illustrated the unemployment rate in a diagram that
showed an unemployment rate of 7.8 percent. Out of this 7.8 percent count are the people that are
already presently working for number houses, if we legalize gambling that rate would automatically
decrease.
Many are lead to believe that legalizing gambling won t decrease the unemployment rate, because
there are already a substantial amount of lottery houses opened already and there are still many
unemployed, it s impossible for this to help our unemployed, and even if it does, it won t completely

What Are The Three Equal Branches Of Government
The United States of America has three separate but equal branches of government: the executive
branch, the legislative branch and the judicial branch. All of these branches are different and have an
essential function in our government. They are all established in the first three Articles of the United
States Constitution. The executive branch is responsible for seeing to it that the laws are carried out.
The legislative branch is in charge of passing the laws and allocating funds. The judicial branch has
the primary function of challenging legislation or interpreting such legislation. The Framer of our
Constitution did not want one single entity to have more power than the others. So this never occurred,
they establish a system of checks and balances. The power of the executive can be checked by the
legislative, which can refuse to confirm its appointees and the power ... Show more content on

Adoption Research Papers
Intentionally, I m interested in this issue because if this issue can somehow be open to every adopted
individual it can eventually lead to a better understanding of any untold and unanswered questions. It
matters to me because of how it can impact an adopted individual s life to not know valuable

Rhetorical Analysis Of Speech On The Challenger Disaster
On January 28, 1986, Ronald Reagan, comforting and empathetic in his speech entitled Speech on the
Challenger disaster , facilitates the mourning process of the American people following the Challenger
Disaster. He is able to accomplish this by connecting on a personal level with everyone affected by the
tragedy: the school children, family of the deceased, and the entire American population. In addition,
he explains specifically addresses the children with lessons to be learned, and how to move forward.
Finally, He applauds NASA for their hard work and commitment to the space program. Through

Knowing many Americans were lost in the wake of this disaster, Reagan sympathizes by using pathos
in multiple forms. One example is where Reagan says, But we feel the loss, and we re thinking about
you so very much (Reagan 3). His use of the word we helps the audience unite and mourn together as
a country. When he states, we feel the loss (Reagan 3), it makes those who feel alone feel comforted
and feel like they are included. Reagan later says, We will never forget them, nor the last time we saw
them (Reagan 8). This directly puts thoughts of the crew into the minds of the audience in a positive
and remembering fashion. Reagan leaves the emotions of the audience in a mournful but stable state
by putting thoughts of the crew in their minds. Reagan is also able to connect with the audience by
adding specific details, making him seem more authentic. Right from the start Reagan uses ethos when
he says, Nancy and I are pained to the core by the tragedy of the Shuttle Challenger (Reagan 1). Using
his wife s first name makes it seem more authentic by personalizing the situation to his own life. He is
showing that the Challenger Disaster affects him on a personal level, making whatever he says
pertaining to the disaster more credible. Later, he goes on to explain the situation to the school
children and says, I know it is hard to understand, but sometimes painful things like

The Land Registration Act ( Lra 1925
The Land Registration Act (LRA) 1925 has drawn much flak over the years with regards to one of its
most important provisions on overriding interests (OI), which often goes unnoticed until it swoops up
and takes priority over the rights of a future purchaser. These interests often come in the form of other
occupiers in the property with an equitable interest and, like in the case of Boland , this leaves the
lender in a tight spot when they find out about the existence of these interests only after they have
initiate proceedings for possession against the defaulting borrowers. Due to the other occupier s
concealed nature on the property register, the lenders have regained their footing by applying the
concept of overreaching and ..... The Law Commission, on the other hand, contemplated abolishing
these interest altogether but did not go to that extent because it was neither feasible nor desirable
Instead, they shrank their impact on land by reforming the operation and scope of the OI. With LRA

Theoretical Perspectives in the Film My Fair Lady
My Fair Lady Introduction My paper will cover the 3 theoretical perspectives in the film My Fair
Lady. I will explain each perspective and after give a few examples from the movie itself accordingly
to the perspective they belong in. When I did these analyses the major thing that I noticed was how
much inequality there is in this world. I think the symbolic interactionism fits best for this movie
because through this movie most of the people relied on personal interactions with each other and not
institutions. Synopsis My fair lady is movie about a flower girl named Eliza Doolittle and a man
named Henry Higgins of Phonetics. One night professor Higgins was at the Covent Garden market

about to take her when really he was just another man. Sir, don t let im charge me. You dunno what it
means to me. They ll take away me character and drive me on the streets, for speakin to gentlemen.
Eliza stated. This sentence states very clearly that this was the begging of one of the norms that Eliza
went against. The norm was that a poor girl like Eliza is not supposed to speak to a rich gentleman
such as Pickering. Another bystander tells Eliza to leave the man alone but she states, I never spoke to
him except to ask him to buy a flow r off me. Again here we can see that she is definitely breaking a
norm. She spoke when she was not allowed to speak, breaking a norm that the government had made
so that these two societies function. You mind your business and I will mind my own, is what the
government implied from the functionalist perspective. From a functionalists perspective these to
societies would not be able to function if they were too friendly. Another example of Eliza breaking a
norm was when she overheard Pickering s and Higgins conversation. Higgins stated Well, sir, in six
months, I could pass her off as a duchess at an Embassy ball. I could even get her a job as a lady s
maid or a shop assistant, which requires better English . At this moment Eliza wanted to make a

Feminism Portrayed in Three Different Time Periods Essay
Feminism is something that has played with Literature since the beginning of time. Novels and poems
were a way for women to express themselves in ways that they never could at home. I chose pieces of
Literature from the three different time periods that we have covered. For the Romantic Era, I chose
the differences between Barbauld and Wollstonecraft. For the Victorian Era, I chose Mrs. Warren s
Profession . For the 20th Century, I chose To Room 19 . Barbauld and Wollstonecraft were both
feminists. The differences between them vary from Wollstonecraft s devout Christianity, and Barbauld
s in your face feminist views. Wollstonecraft agreed with the views that women should not be walked
on, and wrote Vindication for the Rights of Women . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I don t believe that what she did was wrong. I think she found a way for her family where there wasn t
one, and just because she wasn t society s idea of a lady means that she was not a good person. To
Room 19 is one of the more depressing ideas of feminism. This story shows a woman who did
everything right, but none of it mattered in the end. Susan loved her husband, and did everything that
he asked. Susan was the perfect housewife that did everything she was asked. She never fought or
yelled, even when her husband cheated on her. The downside to being the perfect woman is you are
not yourself. She held everything in to the point where she lost who she was. She became a robot to
society. Susan thought that by allowing her husband to do whatever he wanted, she would find her
own happiness. She lost herself when she held in all of her feelings. Susan killed herself because she
was miserable, and nobody noticed. The idea of feminism in this story is that a perfect woman to
society is a miserable woman. Society believed through the ages that women were to be seen, and not
heard. Clean, cook, and take care of the children. Those were the tasks assigned to women, and to
stray from that path was dishonorable. Of all the stories, and movies that we have seen play out over
the years there will never be true equality among men and women. I chose these pieces to prove that
views of women may change slightly over the

The Presidential Election Of 1984
The United States presidential election of 1984 was the 50th quadrennial presidential election. It was
held on Tuesday, November 6, 1984. The presidential race was between the incumbent Republican
candidate, President Ronald Reagan, and former Vice President Democratic candidate, Walter
Mondale. Reagan was helped in the election by a strong economic recovery from the deep recession of
1981 1982. Reagan carried 49 of the 50 states, becoming only the second presidential candidate to do
so after Richard Nixon s victory in the 1972 presidential election. Mondale s only electoral votes came
from the District of Columbia, which has always been considered a Democratic guarantee, and his
home state of Minnesota which he won by a mere 3761 votes, meaning Reagan came within 3800
votes of winning all fifty states. Reagan s 525 electoral votes (out of 538) is the highest total ever
received by a presidential candidate. Mondale s 13 electoral votes is also the 2nd fewest ever received
by a second place candidate, second only to lf Landon s 8 in 1936. In the national popular vote,
Reagan received 58.8% to Mondale s 40.6% (2016, 270towin.com)
For a long period, candidates running for President of the United States often have what s called a

voters would choose them as their president elect. Technology has played a key role in doing that for
past elections and current ones. During

My Personal Strengths
Essay A
Growing up, my parents frequently bombarded me with the celebrated saying: Eat all your food. Some
people in the world do not have any . As a kid, I always shrugged this off as just another instance of
parents exuding typical parental behavior. Yet as I got older, I came to learn how my parents sayings
proved not merely proverbs, but in fact their history.
Having lived and grown up in Vietnam, my parents experienced hardships atypical to the average
American family; food, funds, and fear from their government. They found food a scarcity, and
placing a meal on the table came as an effortful task, so my parents resorted to getting jobs at a young
age. Difficulties from the Vietnamese government during the war also contributed to their endless
struggles. For an example, my dad, upon my grandfather s forced captivity from the government,
became the man of the house, a home with about 500 square feet, for a family of ten. He took care of
the entire family at the age of ten years old. Coupled with all the hardships of surviving, such factors
resulted in an arduous life for my mother and father. Due to their personal life burdens, they made
raising me a priority, thus instilling in me a determination for success and wholesome traits in my
personal character.
In order to guarantee a future filled with great accomplishments, my parents emphasized the herculean
importance of education. At a young age, my parental unit enrolled me in head start, engaged me in

The Ethnic Issues of the Bedouins
Bedouins ethnic issues Abstract The focus of ethnicity and ethnic issues in the Middle East has been
associated with the Arabs in the Palestine and the Jews in Israel. Research carried in the previous
researches confirmed that these issues are directly or indirectly affected by the political disputes. In a
sample of the students who were involved in the research, 46.9% ranked the religion to be the major
factor of the formation of the identity. Some students said that the term Israel was not the appropriate
identity and a section about 50% said that Palestine was the right identity. When given six ways of
characterising the identities, that is the Arab, Israeli, Israeli Arab, Palestinian Arab, Israeli Palestinian,
and Palestinian. Palestinian Arab received the more endorsement by around 34%, followed by the
Israeli Arab by 30%, Arab followed by approximately 20%, then Israeli Palestinian by 11.7% and
Palestinian 4% the remaining 2.9% characterised themselves as Israelis. The implications of these data
are discussed in this work. Introduction A lot of discussion and literature has focussed on the Arab
Bedouins of the Negev, with respect to the impact of the state of Israeli and the attempts to settle the
groups considered to be semi nomadic, the above groups have specifically have caught the attention of
the Israeli scientists, however, they have not addressed the issues of ethnic identities of the Bedouin

A Note On Subprime Loans
Recent mayhem in the American economy attributed to a weakening of business regulation. In the
absence of oversight, lending became a wildcat enterprise. Mortgage brokers easily deceived home
buyers by promoting subprime loans, and then they passed on bundled documents to unwary
investors. These subprime loans were offered at a rate above prime to individuals who did not qualify
for prime rate loans. The loans were made to people who had no other way to access funds, and little
understanding of the mechanics of the loan. A scholarly document on subprime lending by Hanif
NuMan warns, Servicing prime and alternative A (not subprime) loans, the automated underwriting
systems were designed to the specifications of banks and financial institutions, and utilized by loan
originators to originate more loans as well as develop a database for the respective entities (NuMan).
Subprime loans by and large were issued without regard to what would happen if the borrower could
not repay the loan. Subprime loans commonly have adjustable rates that have monthly payments that
will dramatically increase two years after receiving the loan. Subprime loans were usually classified as
those where the borrower had a FICO score below 640. Subprime loans can be based on credit scores
alone. On the homeowner s home loan application subprime loans would have the option to use a
stated income or even no income or asset verification at all. Special terms usually accompany

Starting off with a metaphor the reader is able to recognize the princess s death on a large scale. As
one knows this and is able to understand the widespread effect of the princess s death. One can come
to the conclusion that the feelings of the world can help explain sadness that comes with pain.
Similarly, pain is also expressed in Touched by an Angel but has a solution Yet if we are bold, love
strikes away the chains of fear from our souls (Angelou). This line proves that pain comes before good
things. The use of personification implies that boldness is needed for a hope in a better outcome.
When reaching a state of hope or in this case love acting as hope, one can be set free. Having broken
chains means that there is no more future of bad experiences that were in the past. Taking out the

America in the 1920 s
America in the 1920s, also known as the Roaring 20s or New Era, was a time of great changes and
huge growth. America was being a more modern nation, and a return to normalcy was being seen after
the Progressive Movement and First World War. Politically, the American government was seemingly
conservative, but experimented with different approaches to public policy and foreign diplomatic
policy. Economically, it was a time of tremendous growth and new forms of organization. Socially, the
American popular culture reshaped itself to reflect the increasingly industrial, urban, and consumer
oriented society. The 20s were a time of a distinguishably new culture and profound change and
excitement, but it wasn t great for everybody. After 1922, there was a long period of prosperity and
economic expansion. People had more money to spend, and prices weren t rising very much. The key
to the economic boom was new technology. The automobile industry was one of the most important
industries in the nation, and led to stimulated growth in other industries, such as steel, rubber, glass,
and especially oil companies. Road construction booms in response to automobiles, providing more
jobs for workers and helping the economy even more. The radio comes about in the early 20s and
becomes a popular form of entertainment and leads the creation the National Broadcasting Company,

Epidemiology of Early Childhood Caries Dental caries refer to the indications and manifestations of
local dissolution of enamel caused by metabolic processes in the biofilm, or plaque, covering the

Negative Aspects Of Globalization In Developing Countries
Globalisation is a worldwide movement which integrates economic, financial, trade and commerce
from different countries. It has influenced communication between countries and brought them
together. It made countries more interdependent and interconnected with free transfer of goods and
services across national frontiers.
Globalisation can have lots of benefits on western societies such as implies the opening of the local to
a broader outlook (Angelasancartier.net.2017). Globalisation also involves culture spread, and the
process of globalisation happens through the media, consumer goods and western consumer lifestyle
(ThoughtCo.2017). These lead to a fashion sold for western societies by giant retailers who can update
inventory and make transnational trade deals (Angelasancartier.net.2017). The opening market and
culture diffusion also make people who consuming is actually more focus on the corporate brand or
logo such as Nike, Victoria s Secret and Adidas than the clothing itself.
Globalisation has been one of the most hotly debated topics in international economics (Forbes.com,
2017). Rapid growth and poverty reduction has been a positive aspect of globalisation on developing
countries like China and Africa. Increasing globalisation has helped the expansion of opportunities for
nations and benefits workers inrich. Globalisation is a process of opening up economics so that trade
between countries could take place freely (Digit Pro.2017). The negative aspect of globalisation

Essay on Symbolism in The Cherry Orchard by Anton Chekhov
Symbolism in The Cherry Orchard by Anton Chekhov
Mamma! Are you crying, mamma? My dear, good, sweet mamma! Darling, I love you! I bless you!
The Cherry orchard is sold; it?s gone; its quite true, it?s quite true. But don?t cry, mamma, you?ve still
got life before you, you?ve still got your pure and lovely soul. Come with me, darling, and come away
from here. We?ll plant a new garden, still lovelier than this. You will see it and understand, and
happiness, deep, tranquil happiness will sink down on your soul, like the sun at eventide, and you?ll
smile, mamma. Come, darling, come with me!
The Cherry Orchard has been acclaimed as one of the greatest theatrical experiences of all time. It is
clearly seen through the use of the more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was his last work and is considered to be his masterpiece. It was first produced on January 17, 1904
by the Moscow Arts Theater, on the twenty fifth anniversary of his career. The Cherry Orchard then
was established as a classic in the 1950?s. It was recognized as a new type of drama due to the
controversy of whether it was a comedy or drama.
Anton Chekhov conceived The Cherry Orchard as a comedy but had trouble persuading people it was
not a drama. The play fulfills all the conventional requirements of a classical and of a realist drama. It
aligns the action with time, from hopeful spring to despairing autumn. It has a crux to the plot that
remains unresolved until the end of the third act Will the estate be sold or saved? It has couples who
seem destined to be married, servants who fail to serve a heroine with both grave flaws and charisma.
The Cherry Orchard can be read in many ways, as a conflict between hope and despair, between
conflicting illusions, or nature and mankind. Above all, it can be read as an evocation of honest
pessimism about the outcome of all these conflicts, with only a glimmer of hope and no false
consolations. This idea is seen throughout the views of the major characters.
All of Russia is our garden. The earth is great and beautiful; it is full of wonderful places. Think,
Anya, your grandfather, your great grandfather and all your ancestors were serf owners, owners

Research Methodology And The Execution Of Slr
2. Research Method
This section provides an overview research method i.e. systematic literature review (SLR) used in
thesis research; it describes the research methodology, the design and the execution of SLR.
2.1 Overview of Systematic Literature Review
This section of chapter was to thoroughly define and go through systematic literature review research
method.
2.1.1 Definition
Kitchenham and Charters (2007) proposed that systematic literature review has been a widespread
research methodology since 1990s, but it was initiated by medical research where number of well
documented standards has evidently showed its use. While, since the year 2004, systematic reviews
are also performed by many software engineering researchers and number of important engineering
conferences also seek submissions in this research category. In addition to this many popular journals
and magazines have distinct section for papers, which are also based on this research methodology.
(Kitchenham Charters, 2007)
According to Kitchenham,
A systematic literature review (often referred to as a systematic review) is a means of identifying,
evaluating and interpreting all available research relevant to a particular research question, or topic
area, or phenomenon of interest (p.8).
The fundamental study of the systematic literature review is known as primary studies, and the
systematic literature itself is known as a form of secondary study.

Methods to Reduce Air Pollution Essay
Methods to Reduce Air Pollution
Air pollution is nothing new. Ever since the discovery of fire, less than desirable substances have been
vented into the air. One of the first air pollution regulations dates back to the fourteenth century, when
King Edward I banned the burning of sea coal in lime kilns. U.S. air pollution regulations have their
roots in British Common Law. But regardless of those efforts, air pollution continues to be a serious
local and world wide problem. Pollution is the pressure within the air of one or more substances that
are harmful to human health, welfare, animal or plant life, or property. In the past with air pollution
we included mainly the outdoor pollutants, although in recent years this is not the case. ... Show more

All these particles are mainly products of combustion. The major sources include industrial processes,
power plants that are both coal and oil fired, residential heating, and transportation. But coal burning
is the greatest source.

amount is matched by combustion from sources, which include the generation of all heat and

What Were The Implications Of The United States...
The Great War, later dubbed as the First World War , hadn t really piqued the interest of the United
States, as it wanted to be a neutral country to isolate itself from European affairs; the United States did
not want to be a guest in Europe s concert made up of artillery impacts, machine gun fires, and
homesick cries. But as ties with the Allies between the United States continued, the resent of the
Central Powers (especially Germany) towards the United States also grew. Though with the
introduction of new weapons, styles of warfare, and more technologically advanced boats and planes,
the gravity between the United States and the Allies grew stronger thus pulling the US into one of the
biggest battles it ll ever fight. From the main ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only that, but with the arms race that was happening, a lot of countries began to feel threatened by
the increasing powers of other nations. For example, Germany quickly trying to gain an able navy,
which threatened Great Britain, and not only that but because of this arm race, alliances such as the
Triple Alliance that had threatened France. There were also a lot more causes that also contributed to
World War 1, but amongst them all, the one that was probably the most important was the
assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. The reason as to why it was and is the most important
cause to World War I was how much of a propulsion it had on the European countries to cause World
War I in the first place. To start off, the assassination of the Archduke was by a member of a group
called The Black Hand who were Serbian nationalists. During that time Russia had supported these
Serbian Nationalists, and Austria Hungary deeply hated them. This assassination thus causes an
ultimatum from Austria Hungary to Serbia (which then gets rejected), to which Austria Hungary
responded back with a declaration of war against Serbia. Russia then tells Serbia that they ll protect
Serbia (since they support them) and Germany states that they ll back Austria Hungary if Russia were
to intervene, which they do. Now since the Italy (later replaced by the Ottoman Empire) is

Current Policy Situation Of Australia Current policy situation At present, asylum seekers who arrived in Australia by boat on or after 13 August 2012 and are granted bridging visas are not allowed to work (Correa Velez, Gifford and Bice, 2014, p. 9). Asylum seekers who are living in the community on bridging visas have no right to a family reunion and are not able to re enter Australia if they choose to travel internationally. Australia has obligations to the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR) to promote and ensure the economic, social and cultural rights of all people in Australia , this includes asylum seekers (Australian Human Rights Commission, 2013, p. 5). Further, under Australia s International human rights obligations they are required to permit asylum seekers to live in the community, while their claims for refuge are being processed. Unless they are assessed as posing a threat to the community. If an asylum seeker is considered to be suitable to live in the community, there are strong conditions attached to the bridging visa, this includes a prohibition to work. The Australian Human Rights Commission (2013, p. 5) argues that releasing asylum seekers into the community while their claims are being processed is beneficial for their health and well being. • 4. Analysis Of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee I attended the Maverick Theatre Company s production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a play about a middle school spelling bee held in one of America s many Putnam Counties. As the bee goes on, each contestant has to come to terms with themselves, the world around them, and growing up. The promotional material for this production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee doesn t actually give much away in terms of what the play is about. The poster, for instance, just has the name of the play, a picture in the background of someone s anxious feet, and the tagline Winning isn t everything... or is it? If there s a more vague poster, I don t know what it is. So, I had no real expectations going in. I knew that there was going to be a spelling bee involved and that this was a musical, and I d heard that there would be some audience participation and lots of mentions of the word erection. That s about it. The plot of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a bit contrived, though, wholly enjoyable. All of our characters are introduced in the first song, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. It s a bit of a contrived way to introduce characters, though it hardly stands out. After all, this is a musical. We expect songs as a way to advance plot, and here we get introduced to all of our characters and their initial motivations. Starting off, they re actually a pretty one minded group. They all have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. How Is Celie Presented In The Color Purple In the novel, The Color Purple, a character by the name of Celie is described as being oppressed. She is oppressed throughout most of her life, especially as a child. She is constantly being put down by men that see or talk to her. However, Celie is strong willed and that strength is channeled through how she deals with how she was treated while being backed by the people who respect her and unified through the love her and her sister share. Celie s strength is signified from how the men treated her because every time they attacked her, verbally or physically, she took it and never gave it back. The first example you see is in the very beginning as it shows her father taking her baby and finding out that he took another before and they were both sired by him. • 7. Assessment of the Usefulness of Functionalism in... Assessment of the Usefulness of Functionalism in Understanding the Family Functionalism is a structuralist theory. This means it sees the individual as less important as the social structure of society. It is a top down theory. The family can be defined as an intimate domestic group composed of people related to each other by blood, sexual relations and legal ties. When assessing how useful functionalism is when looking at the family, other views/perspectives need to be taken into account before making an overall conclusion. Views from Talcott Parsons, George Murdock, Ann Oakley, Edmund Leach, R.D Laing, David Cooper and Friedrich Engels will be taken into account as well as perspectives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He also does not examine alternatives to the family, not considering whether its functions could be carried out by other social institutions. Murdock is criticised for being Euro centric, as he is only concerned about the Western families. However, he is supported by anthropologists; Morris (1968) said the family was a result of biology and culture over generations (socio biology). This could be a strength as it shows some researchers have the same view. Talcott Parsons bases his ideas on the family in modern American society. However, despite this his ideas have more general application since he claims the American family has two basic and irreducible functions which are common to the family in all societies, unlike Murdock who argued there were four. These were, the primary socialization of children, where culture is learned and accepted by children so they know the norms and values that allow society to exist. Secondly the stabilization of adult personalities, which is where a marriage relationship and emotional security a couple provide for each other keeps a personality stable, and acts as a counterweight to everyday stresses and strains that can make a personality unstable. Though he proceeds with the execution (which, of course, fails), the King s character implies that un elected leaders are fallible human beings who, ultimately, will see their error. Bartholomew s response to the King reinforces the sense that neither he nor any of the citizens of Didd are in any immediate danger from their ruler. As the Captain of the King s Own Guards travels with Bartholomew to the palace, Bartholomew feels terribly frightened only for a moment. He soon realizes that the King can do nothing dreadful to punish me, because I really haven t done anything wrong. The soft lines of these cartoon style illustrations emphasizes this absence of real danger, and the bright red hats cascading behind him convey more a spirit of adventure than impending doom. At the end of the quest, the King pays Bartholomew 500 pieces of gold for the fanciest hat on his head, which locates Derwin in the role of a benevolent patron. Gambling Legalization Gerika Arthur Professor McPhee English 300 01 March 14, 2011 Gambling legalization for a promising future Gambling is the act of playing for stakes in the hope of winning (including the payment of a price for a chance to win a prize). (Oxford dictionary) Many have their own opinions about gambling and at this time gambling is not legally practiced here in The Bahamas. When he states, we feel the loss (Reagan 3), it makes those who feel alone feel comforted and feel like they are included. This sentence states very clearly that this was the begging of one of the norms that Eliza went against. The norm was that a poor girl like Eliza is not supposed to speak to a rich gentleman such as Pickering. Another bystander tells Eliza to leave the man alone but she states, I never spoke to him except to ask him to buy a flow r off me. Again here we can see that she is definitely breaking a norm. Susan loved her husband, and did everything that he asked. Susan was the perfect housewife that did everything she was asked. She never fought or yelled, even when her husband cheated on her. The downside to being the perfect woman is you are not yourself. She held everything in to the point where she lost who she was. She became a robot to society. Susan killed herself because she was miserable, and nobody noticed. The idea of feminism in this story is that a perfect woman to society is a miserable woman. Society believed through the ages that women were to be seen, and not heard. Clean, cook, and take care of the children. Those were the tasks assigned to women, and to stray from that path was dishonorable. Having lived and grown up in Vietnam, my parents experienced hardships atypical to the average American family; food, funds, and fear from their government. They found food a scarcity, and placing a meal on the table came as an effortful task, so my parents resorted to getting jobs at a young age. Difficulties from the Vietnamese government during the war also contributed to their endless struggles. It was his last work and is considered to be his masterpiece. It was first produced on January 17, 1904 by the Moscow Arts Theater, on the twenty fifth anniversary of his career. The Cherry Orchard then was established as a classic in the 1950?s. It was recognized as a new type of drama due to the controversy of whether it was a comedy or drama. Anton Chekhov conceived The Cherry Orchard as a comedy but had trouble persuading people it was not a drama. The play fulfills all the conventional requirements of a classical and of a realist drama. It aligns the action with time, from hopeful spring to despairing autumn. It has a crux to the plot that remains unresolved until the end of the third act Will the estate be sold or saved? It has couples who seem destined to be married, servants who fail to serve a heroine with both grave flaws and charisma. The Cherry Orchard can be read in many ways, as a conflict between hope and despair, between conflicting illusions, or nature and mankind. Above all, it can be read as an evocation of honest pessimism about the outcome of all these conflicts, with only a glimmer of hope and no false consolations. This idea is seen throughout the views of the major characters. All of Russia is our garden. The earth is great and beautiful; it is full of wonderful places. • 44. Research Methodology And The Execution Of Slr 2. Research Method This section provides an overview research method i.e. systematic literature review (SLR) used in thesis research; it describes the research methodology, the design and the execution of SLR. 2.1 Overview of Systematic Literature Review This section of chapter was to thoroughly define and go through systematic literature review research method. 2.1.1 Definition Kitchenham and Charters (2007) proposed that systematic literature review has been a widespread research methodology since 1990s, but it was initiated by medical research where number of well documented standards has evidently showed its use. While, since the year 2004, systematic reviews are also performed by many software engineering researchers and number of important engineering conferences also seek submissions in this research category. In addition to this many popular journals and magazines have distinct section for papers, which are also based on this research methodology. (Kitchenham Charters, 2007) According to Kitchenham, A systematic literature review (often referred to as a systematic review) is a means of identifying, evaluating and interpreting all available research relevant to a particular research question, or topic area, or phenomenon of interest (p.8). The fundamental study of the systematic literature review is known as primary studies, and the systematic literature itself is known as a form of secondary study. 2.1.2 Adopting the Systematic Literature Review There ... • 45. Methods to Reduce Air Pollution Essay Methods to Reduce Air Pollution Air pollution is nothing new. Ever since the discovery of fire, less than desirable substances have been vented into the air. One of the first air pollution regulations dates back to the fourteenth century, when King Edward I banned the burning of sea coal in lime kilns. U.S. air pollution regulations have their roots in British Common Law. But regardless of those efforts, air pollution continues to be a serious local and world wide problem. Pollution is the pressure within the air of one or more substances that are harmful to human health, welfare, animal or plant life, or property. In the past with air pollution we included mainly the outdoor pollutants, although in recent years this is not the case. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 47. What Were The Implications Of The United States... The Great War, later dubbed as the First World War , hadn t really piqued the interest of the United States, as it wanted to be a neutral country to isolate itself from European affairs; the United States did not want to be a guest in Europe s concert made up of artillery impacts, machine gun fires, and homesick cries. But as ties with the Allies between the United States continued, the resent of the Central Powers (especially Germany) towards the United States also grew. Though with the introduction of new weapons, styles of warfare, and more technologically advanced boats and planes, the gravity between the United States and the Allies grew stronger thus pulling the US into one of the biggest battles it ll ever fight. Not only that, but with the arms race that was happening, a lot of countries began to feel threatened by the increasing powers of other nations. For example, Germany quickly trying to gain an able navy, which threatened Great Britain, and not only that but because of this arm race, alliances such as the Triple Alliance that had threatened France. There were also a lot more causes that also contributed to World War 1, but amongst them all, the one that was probably the most important was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. The reason as to why it was and is the most important cause to World War I was how much of a propulsion it had on the European countries to cause World War I in the first place. To start off, the assassination of the Archduke was by a member of a group called The Black Hand who were Serbian nationalists. During that time Russia had supported these Serbian Nationalists, and Austria Hungary deeply hated them. This assassination thus causes an ultimatum from Austria Hungary to Serbia (which then gets rejected), to which Austria Hungary responded back with a declaration of war against Serbia. Russia then tells Serbia that they ll protect Serbia (since they support them) and Germany states that they ll back Austria Hungary if Russia were to intervene, which they do.
