Navajo Indian Nation- Past, Present and Future
Residing in the Southwest United States, the Navajo Indian tribe is one of the largest tribes in America
today. In their own language, they refer to themselves as Diné which means the people . They are an
old tribe with descendants tracing their roots back to the thirteenth century. The first contact that the
Navajos had with white settlers was during the Mexican American War in 1846. The United States
conducted peaceful relations with the Navajo for over fifteen years. Forts were built to help protect the
Navajo from Spanish/Mexican raids on the Navajo s cattle. Eventually, a new military commander,
James H. Carleton, was named in New Mexico and he began to raid Navajo lands with a vengeance.
He ordered the Navajo to surrender. When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many students and parents gave up and left the school system because heritage was deemed more
important, school was boring or no one cared. Parents remember the old school when they were taught
that their heritage was wrong and all they knew was wrong. A fear and hatred for white school has
been embedded within the older clans people. Many don t enforce the children to stay in school and
only do it because the law says so. They are not realizing that without proper education, the Navajo
Nation can not prosper and will remain in poverty. There is a proven and strong correlation between
education and income across the world. The more education that an individual has, the more income
he or she can obtain with a higher paying job. However, it would not be enough to just attend school.
The quality of education that is received is just as important as the act of attending. The instruction
and direction that is provided in a school system provides a rigor for life. Many bills and laws have
been passed to help set up education reform but with little or no effect. In the time that the Native
Americans were placed on Reservations and 1871, over 400 treaties were signed with the government.
Of those, 120 promised to move the Indian children to civilized children. Such treaties had the
children put into boarding schools where they were to be taught the white man s way . Schools like

Similarities Between Wordsworth And Yeats
Comparative Essay on Wordsworth and Yeats
In Down by the Salley Gardens by William Butler Yeats and She Dwelt Among the Untrodden ways
by William Wordsworth, the poets use a theme of love while applying imagery consistently
throughout the poems. Additionally, Yeats uses repetition to show the passing of time through
metaphors while Wordsworth comparatively portrays his inner thoughts. Since they are giving their
emotions, Yeats applies similes comparing his love for the beauty of nature whilst Wordsworth is
commemorating his love, despite her disappearing from his life. She Dwelt Among the Untrodden
Ways by Wordsworth expresses his emotion towards her as she lives her life only to die isolated.

Repetition is utilized to reflect Yeats inner opinion on how he rushed to the relationship. Ultimately
resulting in her leaving him. The use of repetition is dominant throughout as the phrases little snow
white feet (2) to her snow white hands , my love and I did meet (1) in contrast with my love and I did
stand showing repetition while also showing imagery of something snow white. This is important
because of how the poem has a parallel structure. Past events have already happened and cannot be
changed thus he is reflecting how he regrets not listening to her. As mentioned before, another point of
repetition is take love easy with take life easy which could be interpreted as her message to the
narrator about learning to relax and slow down. This is supported by how he is reflecting back to when
he was still young and foolish (8) thinking about how his life was wasted and not realizing that he is
not living life to the fullest, relating back to a theme of regret. However, for Wordsworth, he utilizes
metaphors to discuss his feelings. Wordsworth uses a metaphor of being Half hidden from the eye! (6)
to visualize the obscurity of the woman. This can be interpreted as a contrast with the line above,
mentioning the violet (5) standing out, while the eye has a connotation of omnipotent power and
vision,

Of Mice And Men Book Vs Movie Essay
In the movie, Of Mice and Men the scene in Weed was a lot different than the one explained in the
book. First the girl is actually chasing them which didn t happen in the book. They also were chasing
Lennie and George, not looking for them. I think the director chose to do it this way because it adds
more to the story then seen in the movie ,and makes it more interesting. It s also the beginning of the
story so he probably wanted to draw you in. This changes the story. The director probably chose to
start the story on a train for many reasons. First, it is pretty much a good way to start a movie. The
director also might have done this because he wanted to show that they were leaving Weed. The
director is telling us that George s life, has a lot of trains and transportation in it, because he moves
around so much! This is also due to Lennie s behavior, getting them kicked of town, after town, after
town. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He encounters Curley s wife and he is alone with her. She starts to ask him questions. Another scene
that we see in the movie that is not presented through the book is when George and Lennie are
working together and to load up the wagon when Curley s wife comes along. These new scenes add
more of the loneliness factor that I have noticed throughout the book and the movie. I think they show
the audience how desperate and lonely she is to talk to someone. I had different emotions throughout
the book and movie. I One was that Lennie was useless in the beginning of the book and movie..
Another emotion that I had was towards George. I thought he was just bossing around Lennie and
trying to make fun of him like when he told Lennie to jump in a river, he jumps and forgets after
George saves him. But, then he I guess saw that George killed Lennie out of love so he won t suffer

Japanese Internment Essay
Tension emerged between the United States and Japan. On December 7, 1941, Japanese fighter planes
attacked the United States naval base located in Pearl Harbor, Honolulu, Hawaii. The United States
was completely blindsided. Pearl Harbor was their least suspected place for an attack to take place, so
their naval base was very weak, making it an irresistible target for Japan. Over 2,000 United States
sailors and soldiers died, and 1,000 were wounded. American ships and airplanes were destroyed. The
United States took action against Japan and joined World War II. There was a great population of
Japanese Americans on the West Coast of the United States, which caused ongoing fear and suspicion.
President Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These internment camps were not execution camps. Although these camps held Japanese Americans
against their will, they did not pose dangers that would affect the well being of the citizens.
Additionally, thousands of American citizens are engaged in warfare in the military. Being part of the
military is far worse than being evacuated to an internment camp. According to a statement made by
Representative Leland Ford in 1942, [...] if an American born Japanese, who is a citizen, is really
patriotic [...] he should be willing to do it if he is patriotic [...] As against his sacrifice, millions of
other native born citizens are willing to lay down their lives, which is a far greater sacrifice, of course,
than being placed in a concentration camp (Document A). As citizens of the United States, it is the
Japanese American s patriotic duty to make sacrifices for the country s safety, which are not dreadful
in comparison to the sacrifices other citizens make for the country. Many Americans imperil their lives
by serving in the military forces. Japanese Americans are solely being relocated for defense purposes.
The Secretary of War, who President Roosevelt gave power to, must provide the proper necessities for
those who were being relocated into the internment camps, the Japanese Americans. These resources
included food and shelter, fundamentals to survive. The United States did not have the intention

Nonviolent Resistance In Pray The Devil Back To Hell
There are many different ways human beings deal with oppression. One way is nonviolent resistance,
which is a term for describing a range of methods to deal with conflict without the use of violence.
Individuals such as the Liberian women and Mohandas Gandhi claim that nonviolent resistance is
justified through acts of harmonious protests and more likely to produce peaceful and constructive
outcomes. Harmonious protests justify the concept of nonviolent opposition because it achieves public
sympathy. In Pray the Devil Back to Hell, the Liberian women marched down the streets, and as they
continued to march other women would leave their homes and join in to support their strive for peace.
Through this act of peaceful resistance, the women gained recognition and support from society which
made the government rethink the flaws in their system and began to listen to the women in order to

Comparing Pandora s Box And The Flying Dutchman
Stories Explained
Introduction
Myths, fairy tales, folk tales, legends and fables we all grew up hearing various wonderfully
descriptive stories from each of the above listed categories. We might not have known that there are
different categories for the stories we heard, maybe you thought, just like me, that a story was just a
story: something to entertain and captivate you on a rainy day or a trigger to ensure vastly creative
dreams as it is read moments before you fall asleep. Each of the stories that you have heard belongs to
a specific category.
Myths and legends are both based on historical events, but neither of them is true since the events
went undocumented and no proof was found to substantiate the claims. In a myth the story ... Show

Curiosity is a trait that must be tamed otherwise it might lead to your downfall, is Pandora s Box s
main theme. Zeus lied to Pandora when he told her that she may not open it the box, this later piqued

tell lies, we become curious.
The conclusion
Every story had a different theme, setting, storyline and characters. But even though these stories were
completely different, it was still possible to find similarities between them. The differences between
them are what make them special and wonderfully unique.
Stories are such a valuable instrument to teach children important life lessons and morals. It is a way
to connect with them at their level so that they can process and understand what you are trying to say.
Even if they only subconsciously catch the underlining lesson you weaved into the story, it is still
there and the child will always use that story as reference. Stories stay with us forever

in relation to gender equality.
The current situation in Afghanistan contrasts the old one as black does white. Few women are

attending school after the age of eight (Stop). A journalist speaks of girls not being allowed to leave

on skills. The study used a multi method approach with qualitative and quantitative data including
multiple methods of measurement. In addition, longitudinal data was conducted as the intervention
delivery was carried out over a various amount of years. The authors did not over interpret data
discussion. They highlighted the developmental support systems theory that by aligning the child,
family, school, and community assets are critical for promoting positive development. The theory was
compared to the current study intervention linking a positive correlational data to academic
performance, and ELL and English proficiency first generation learners. The study did have internal
validity but rules out potential sources of bias; noted as a limitation. The authors addressed other
limitations; such as there was no potential sources between group variations (family migration, extent
of language isolation, etc.), the inability to precisely measure achievement gains (intervention need for
scientific steps to better guide the support to the barriers of learning), the inability to determine how
many years is enough support and whether the intervention might produce diminishing effects on
achievement once support is withdrawn. This study supports a school practice model and advances the
topic for the development of support plans for all socially disadvantaged students by attending to each
child s developmental strengths and needs; supporting cognitive, social, emotional and physical
growth; and aligning resources for families, schools, and communities in a culturally competent
approach. If I were the authors, I would want to know whether any of first generation students

Woolf explains the difference in success between man and woman in two parts. She first explains that
the values of women differ very often from the values of men, and goes on to say that in any case it is
the masculine values that prevail and feminine values are devalued. (Woolf, 1929, 74) Masculine
values soon became a part of society; as males were the only voices heard. Novels discussed males
during the time of war, and spoke of their discoveries and contributions to the world. Since women s
voices were silenced by the need to mimic males, society never got to see the woman s perspectives
on matters. Consequently women altered their own values in deference to the opinion of others.
(Woolf, 1929, 75) For Woolf there is a uniquely female way of writing a woman s sentence. This is
one of Woolf s most provocative claims. She argues that women see and feel and value differently
than men, and that because of this they must also write differently. She praises Jane Austen, who had
devised a perfectly natural, shapely sentence proper for her own use and never departed from it.

Use of Humor in Erdrich s Tracks
An old adage claims that laughter is the best medicine to cure human ailments. Although this
treatment might sound somewhat unorthodox, its value as a remedy can be traced back to ancient
times when Hypocrites, in his medical treatise, stressed the importance of a gay and cheerful mood on

cheats death by playing a trick on them: During the year of the sickness, when I was the last one left, I
saved myself by starting a story . . . . I got well by talking. Death could not get a word in edgewise,
grew discouraged, and traveled on (Erdrich 46). The trickster figure is characterized as a man of many
guises, dualistic in nature good and bad and often considered quite a lover. He is a survivor, physically
and psychologically. As one who endures, he transcends the temporal and functions as an affirmation
of the self. The trickster is also central to the tribe s worldview, with power that extends beyond
himself, guiding his people toward a view of themselves and of possibility that they might not have
seen otherwise (Ghezzi 444). To fulfill his role as trickster, Nanapush uses humor as powerful
medicine not only for himself, but also for his tribe.
Nanapush purposefully directs his own special brand of humor raucous

How The Seven Stages Of Planned Changed
Assessment In the continued process of realizing how much sugar content was in the food and
beverages I was consuming and going to the doctor receiving my blood work results, I decided to
change my nutritional habits. I went to my primary care provider to get my six month checkup and
was informed that my Hemoglobin A1C levels were high (5.9%). Over the course of the
summer/winter break I was consuming too much of sugary food items and beverages while on a cruise
as well. I can agree that I consumed large amounts of sugary foods while on my summer break and
now this has changed my way of thinking about nutritional sugary content. Whenever I would feel the
need to have a snack, I would want something sweet to curve my appetite at the moment. ... Show

I will decrease my weight by 15 pounds and exercise for 30 60 minutes/day within the next 6 months.
The reason I chose this nursing diagnosis is because, my increased HgbA1C levels were elevated due
to the fact of my poor nutritional habits which caused me to gain a few pounds that is out of my
normal weight range. I am currently in the 6th phase of the Seven Phases of Planned Changed, which
includes the change is accepted and stabilized. I m currently at the point of realizing the importance of
maintaining a normal HgbA1C level. Maintaining a normal HgbA1C level (4.8 5.6) decreases the risk
of a person developing diabetes mellitus along with microvascular and macrovascular complications
that may affect the eyes, kidneys, heart, integumentary, and sensory. Therefore, maintaining a well
balanced HgbA1C decreases my risk of developing coronary heart disease (stroke, MI), peripheral
vascular disease, cerebrovascular disease, diabetic retinopathy (blindness), diabetic neuropathy
(amputations, numbness and tingling, pain), obesity, and diabetic nephropathy (renal failure). A well
balanced diet will maintain my blood glucose within the normal target range as stated above. The
nursing intervention for this nursing diagnosis is to establish goals for weight loss and exercise,
because a moderate weight loss of 10 20 pounds has shown to improve hyperglycemia, dyslipidemia,
and hypertension. Exercise should be performed for 30 minutes for moderate physical activity on most
days of the week (Gulanick/Myers, 2007, p.

Samuel Beckett Essay
Beckett s Absurd Characters
Beckett did not view and express the problem of Absurdity in any form of philosophical theory (he
never wrote any philosophical essays, as Camus or Sartre did), his expression is exclusively the
artistic language of theatre. In this chapter, I analyse the life situation of Beckett s characters finding
and pointing at the parallels between the philosophical background of the Absurdity and Beckett s
artistic view.
As I have already mentioned in the biography chapter, Beckett read various philosophical treatises; he
was mostly interested in Descartes, Schopenhauer, and Geulincx. These thinkers are the main sources
which influenced and formed Beckett s view of the world as well as his literary writings.

The Consumer Culture Final Project
Consumer Culture Final Project
This semester having to track all of my buying has been very helpful and eye opening. I was able to
break down all of my buying into 8 categories; clothes, food (groceries), food (restaurants),
entertainment, gas, gym, miscellaneous, and school. I was able to conclude that most of my purchases
were paid with a debit card with the exception of my school payments. Most of my purchases were in
store with the exception of a few purchases online. The majority of my purchases were wants and not
necessities, and after doing this project throughout the semester I have a lot of unnecessary buying.
This paper is a reflection of all of my buying.
This graph is a visual of the overall amount spent through the semester. Looking at the entire semester
I spent a total of $5,668. I spent $308 on clothes in store and online, $459 on food in the grocery store,
$562 on food in multiple restaurants and fast food, $1,049 on entertainment like my vacation and
movies, $340 on gas, $177 on the gym, $123 on miscellaneous items from CVS or 7 eleven, and
$2,650 on school tuition. The overall amount surprised me because I did not even think I earned this
much in the semester. It makes me very uncomfortable because there is a lot of money spent on
unnecessary things. For example, I spent $562 on food from restaurants. This is so highly unnecessary
because I also spent $459 on groceries. The category where I spent the most money was school
tuition, which is expected.

Multiculturalism In Music Essay
Visualize in your head a rock band, and a rapper. What kind of clothes are they wearing. What lyric
styles are they singing in? And what color are they? Ongoing stereotypes suggest that the rock band is
a group of white musicians and the rapper would be black. However, examples from the past and
present shows that these stereotypes are untrue. Music is defined as The art of organizing tones to
produce a coherent sequence of sounds to elicit an aesthetic response in a listener (Morris, 864). This
country s youth is unlike any others, we have much control over what we do, and music is something
that evolves around all of us. In this essay, I will discuss the evolution of youth music ranging from

It gave them a feeling of freedom and joy that had been lacking from previous music styles. Although
rock became an instant hit with the youth, the music caused displeasure in the adult world. Rock was
criticized for juvenile delinquency to loosened sexual standards (R amp;RG, 27). The most notorious
example of what adults didn t like in rock music can be found in Elvis Presley. Elvis was the first
white performer to expose an audience to rock music. However, the free will style Elvis exhibited was
not a real big hit with the adults, where he was condemned as a whirling dervish of sex.
Rock music then went on a tear, evolving into many different styles and forms. As rock matured and
diversified, many new artists and distinct styles emerged. Such examples are blues, featured by B.B.
King and Ruth Brown. Harmonious styles such as The Orioles, the energetic swing sounds of Little
Richard, the role model rock star Pat Boone, and the folk rock of the Everly Brothers. Rock usually
evolved to what was happening in the world during that time period, such as war, politics, current
events, and lifestyles. Another aspect that evolved rock music was technology. As more and more
technology was developed, more integrated sounds were brought into rock, eventually resulting into
such music as pop and disco. Music was now able to have artificial beats that traditional instruments
could not produce. This new form of

The Song By Bruce Springsteen
I was not born in the United States; yet, Bruce Springsteen s Born in the U.S.A. hit from his 1984
album by the same title is still culturally and politically significant. Springsteen is one of those artists
that is still heard in modern times because of the great amount of fame he has acquired throughout his
career. The song bring some attention to the wrongdoings of the United States government in their
treatment of their veterans, especially after the Vietnam War. It raises awareness by using a catchy
melody to draw listeners in; but Springsteen fails to achieve his ultimate goal of influencing young
adults to protest against their government because the memorable words in the chorus overshadow the
plot in the verses. This makes the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Springsteen s choice to involve himself in political issues, although not explicitly, was something that
was building up throughout his life as he transitioned from a young adult to an adult in his mid
thirties. As explained by New York Times writer Nicholas Dawidoff in an article from 1997 titled The
Pop Populist , Springsteen s main concerns were not that of chasing young woman, but that of needing
to change the world around him (Dawidoff). By the time Springsteen wrote Born in the U.S.A. , he
had already built a good reputation for himself in the United States. This makes it possible for
Springsteen to influence large crowds of people to take action or, at the very least, listen to what he
has to say. Ronald Reagan used this song to praise American values. The irony of this is that the song
is doing the exact opposite of praising the United States for their role in the Vietnam War and their
treatment of their veterans. In an article titled Bruce Springsteen, Ronald Reagan and the American
Dream , Susan Mackey Kallis, an associate professor from Villanova University, with co author Ian
McDermott, explain how Springsteen, himself, spoke out against usage of music in this manner of
only paying attention to the surface (Mackey Kallis 7). This also true for many listeners throughout
the country. Listening to this song based on the

My Goals To Become An Elementary School Teacher
Trip to College It has been my dream since Elementary School to become an Elementary School
teacher. The decision to attend college has not always been an easy decision. I have many goals to
obtain my college degree. I have had many conversations about attending college. Some conversations
being very helpful and persuasive, some being very negative and nerve wrecking. The school that I
chose to attend in the end was Alabama State University. I promised myself that this school will make
me the best teacher since I chose my favorite teacher. Choosing my career, that was not entirely easy.
Back in Elementary School, I had a couple of teachers that were very good to me. They are who began
to make my mind think and wonder about if this job would make a good career for me. It was not only
my Elementary School teachers who helped convince me. There were some middle school teachers
and a couple high school teachers who persuaded me. These teachers taught me with passion in their
hearts. There was nothing but patience and love in their teaching. They taught me the different ways
you can teach and get the lesson across to your students. I have kept their ways of teaching in mind for
the days when it is time to work towards my degree. Watching my different teachers over the years
have given me different reasons to want this career. Becoming what I wanted to be was the main goal.
The goal was always to become what I wanted to no matter what it took. Being a teacher, I knew

Consequences Of Vengeance In Aeschylus s Oresteia
Have you ever acted out in retribution for something done to you? Some examples could be if you
punched someone for intentionally kicking you, or if someone deliberately hurt the feelings of
someone you love and you retaliated in kind. You probably thought the punishment you received for
your actions was too harsh or lenient. Many factors went into the decision of what discipline you
received for this act and some were fair while others probably were not. This is true for the actions of
many people in Aeschylus s Oresteia. In each of the three plays, someone is seeking vengeance for a
wrong done unto them, someone they know/love, or both. For this paper, I will be focusing on the
vengeance enacted by Clytemnestra, Orestes, and the Fates. The vengeance that each person enacted
was deemed just or unjust depending on many factors including the people who were doing the
judging. Vengeance in Aeschylus s Oresteia is viewed through the social lens of the society that it was
enacted in. This lens is made up of the popular values, beliefs, and social conventions of the period as
well as the judge s personal views and/or experiences. These factors (such as gender and relation to
the victim, as well as the presence or absence of transgressions on the characters part) lead to different
opinions about the guilt of the accused individual and the individual themselves. The view of
vengeance in Aeschylus s Oresteia is very subjective.
The society that is present in The Oresteia is very

Utopia Vision Statement
When I first began college, I knew that I wanted to major in civil engineering; However, knowing that
my major would take up all of my units after finishing the general education classes, I knew that I
could not afford to take any extra classes, to explore and expand my own curiosity and knowledge of
what is available. Instead, I decided to invest my academic career focusing on engineering. As
freshman students began college, many students asked themselves that oh so common and over beaten
life question what is the point of college?, while others wondered if it was it a place to explore and
discover more about one s self. Well now, thanks to Kwame Anthony Appiah, who teaches philosophy
at N.Y.U. and wrote an article What Is the Point of College?, he explains two visions which are Utility
U. and Utopia U. as well as the habits students possess at the start of college. As students first enter
the college world they go through what is known as, Utility and/or Utopia vision; However, one vision
would be stronger than the other. A Utility vision is when you want to know if you are getting a
profitable return in an investment, while the same students are also act out the role of a consumer.
Utility U. possess certain requirements that need to be filled and will pay for expenses in exchange for
quick responses such as the desire, to be taught. Plus the fact that, Utility U. is concerned with value,

Skin Cancer In Dogs Essay
Skin cancer in dogs is very common and is found in different forms. It is not always possible to see
any changes to the cancer cell, unlike in humans where we can see changes in color etc. Therefore a
biopsy is the only guaranteed way to confirm if they are benign or malignant. A biopsy is simply the
removal of a small sample of the tumor which is sent off for pathology testing. If the tumor is small
your vet may remove all of it to be used for the biopsy.
If the growth is larger, over an inch in diameter, then your vet will take a cell sample by aspiration.
This is a simple procedure where they insert a fine needle into the tumor and withdraw a small amount
of the cell for further testing.

Spaniels, Poodles, Schnauzers Terriers are breeds of dogs more likely to be affected. Canine epidermal
inclusion cysts form when dry secretions block hair follicles, this causes a build up of hair and sebum
(an oily/greasy matter), which leads to the formation of a cyst.
They are a dome like growth that can vary in size, anything up to an inch and a half but usually
smaller. If they become infected drainage is recommended which occasionally leads to a cure. One
option is to have it removed but this is rare.
Treatment and Prevention Of Skin Cancer In Dogs
Now that you are aware of the different types of dog skin cancer what should you do next?
1. Make a habit of checking your dog s body and skin for lumps bumps and any tell tale signs of skin
cancer. I usually do it when I bath or groom my dog
2. Ensure your loyal companion has a check up with a veterinarian at least once a year
3. Be mindful of their diet. A good balanced diet will help prevent many ailments and help build up
natural immunities to many skin problems and canine cancers.
4. Do research on common illnesses and cancers that occur in your breed of

Part 1 Gasoline Research Paper
Part One: Gasoline
1.
Gasoline is used in a wide array of appliances, for example, your car, tractors, and lawn mowers of the
like. This is a good thing because one substance that is composed of a liquid and a mix of alkanes and
cycloalkanes (5 12 carbon atoms) is that versatile. Some other advantages of gasoline are that it is
very common, making it easily accessible and more convenient for shorter periods of time. It starts up
immediately, improves the mobility of smaller generating sets, relatively lighter and quieter in
comparison to diesel generating sets and engines, they also have a longer lifespan. However, nothing
is perfect and gasoline does have its flaws.
A few of the downfalls to gasoline include a very short shelf life (up ... Show more content on

There are many way fuel can cause environmental harm this can come in many forms, but one is that
the use of gasoline is affecting air quality by producing emissions. This is because the process of
refining the crude oil releases toxins into the atmosphere and thus causing air pollution. Burning
gasoline, starting your car and driving it creates a small controlled fire, causes the combustion reaction
to occur, producing water vapor and the infamous Carbon Dioxide which is awful for the environment
and people breathing it in. This is due to gasoline (which is cleaner than coal) it still contributes to the
production of greenhouse gases. Another thing about gasoline that causes harm to the environment is
oil spills that occur mostly when oil is lost during transportation.
There are four main things that stem off of fuel emissions, these are carbon monoxide, nitrogen
oxides, particulate matter and unburned hydrocarbons. These are formed by the fuel being burned and
released through the combustion reaction. The main components of gasoline that combust in gasoline
are isooctane, butane, 3 ethyltoluene and an octane enhancer called MTBE (methyl tert butyl ether).

The Effects Of Dairy Farms On The Dairy Industry
The dairy industry, which includes dairy farms and dairy processing plants, is a major contributor to
the economy. Dairy farms are involved in the production of raw milk, whereas dairy processing plants
produce a variety of dairy products (such as processed milk, cheese, butter, yogurt and ice cream). The
dairy industry ranks third (based on farm cash receipts) in the Canadian agriculture sector and
Newfoundland has the fewest number (n=33) of dairy farms of all the provinces (CDIC 2014).
Although Quebec and Ontario are the major dairy producing provinces in Canada, Newfoundland has

2014). Furthermore, some diseases that infect dairy animals can also be transmitted to humans
(Bannantine et al. 2014). Therefore, epidemiological studies are important for successful prevention

affecting dairy animals: (i) Klebsiella species, one of the causative agent of clinical mastitis (CM,
cases where the cow displays definitive symptoms of inflammation of the mammary glands and udder
tissue) and (ii) MAP, which causes Johne s disease, which is a contagious bacterial disease of the
intestinal tract. The molecular diversity of the pathogens associated with these two diseases has not
been examined in Newfoundland previously and was therefore selected to be the topic of the research
project.

  • 2. Navajo Indian Nation- Past, Present and Future Residing in the Southwest United States, the Navajo Indian tribe is one of the largest tribes in America today. In their own language, they refer to themselves as Diné which means the people . They are an old tribe with descendants tracing their roots back to the thirteenth century. The first contact that the Navajos had with white settlers was during the Mexican American War in 1846. The United States conducted peaceful relations with the Navajo for over fifteen years. Forts were built to help protect the Navajo from Spanish/Mexican raids on the Navajo s cattle. Eventually, a new military commander, James H. Carleton, was named in New Mexico and he began to raid Navajo lands with a vengeance. He ordered the Navajo to surrender. When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many students and parents gave up and left the school system because heritage was deemed more important, school was boring or no one cared. Parents remember the old school when they were taught that their heritage was wrong and all they knew was wrong. A fear and hatred for white school has been embedded within the older clans people. Many don t enforce the children to stay in school and only do it because the law says so. They are not realizing that without proper education, the Navajo Nation can not prosper and will remain in poverty. There is a proven and strong correlation between education and income across the world. The more education that an individual has, the more income he or she can obtain with a higher paying job. However, it would not be enough to just attend school. The quality of education that is received is just as important as the act of attending. The instruction and direction that is provided in a school system provides a rigor for life. Many bills and laws have been passed to help set up education reform but with little or no effect. In the time that the Native Americans were placed on Reservations and 1871, over 400 treaties were signed with the government. Of those, 120 promised to move the Indian children to civilized children. Such treaties had the children put into boarding schools where they were to be taught the white man s way . • 5. Similarities Between Wordsworth And Yeats Comparative Essay on Wordsworth and Yeats In Down by the Salley Gardens by William Butler Yeats and She Dwelt Among the Untrodden ways by William Wordsworth, the poets use a theme of love while applying imagery consistently throughout the poems. Additionally, Yeats uses repetition to show the passing of time through metaphors while Wordsworth comparatively portrays his inner thoughts. Since they are giving their emotions, Yeats applies similes comparing his love for the beauty of nature whilst Wordsworth is commemorating his love, despite her disappearing from his life. She Dwelt Among the Untrodden Ways by Wordsworth expresses his emotion towards her as she lives her life only to die isolated. Down by the Salley Gardens by Yeats has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Repetition is utilized to reflect Yeats inner opinion on how he rushed to the relationship. Ultimately resulting in her leaving him. The use of repetition is dominant throughout as the phrases little snow white feet (2) to her snow white hands , my love and I did meet (1) in contrast with my love and I did stand showing repetition while also showing imagery of something snow white. This is important because of how the poem has a parallel structure. Past events have already happened and cannot be changed thus he is reflecting how he regrets not listening to her. As mentioned before, another point of repetition is take love easy with take life easy which could be interpreted as her message to the narrator about learning to relax and slow down. This is supported by how he is reflecting back to when he was still young and foolish (8) thinking about how his life was wasted and not realizing that he is not living life to the fullest, relating back to a theme of regret. However, for Wordsworth, he utilizes metaphors to discuss his feelings. Wordsworth uses a metaphor of being Half hidden from the eye! (6) to visualize the obscurity of the woman. This can be interpreted as a contrast with the line above, mentioning the violet (5) standing out, while the eye has a connotation of omnipotent power and vision, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Of Mice And Men Book Vs Movie Essay In the movie, Of Mice and Men the scene in Weed was a lot different than the one explained in the book. First the girl is actually chasing them which didn t happen in the book. They also were chasing Lennie and George, not looking for them. I think the director chose to do it this way because it adds more to the story then seen in the movie ,and makes it more interesting. It s also the beginning of the story so he probably wanted to draw you in. This changes the story. The director probably chose to start the story on a train for many reasons. First, it is pretty much a good way to start a movie. The director also might have done this because he wanted to show that they were leaving Weed. The director is telling us that George s life, has a lot of trains and transportation in it, because he moves around so much! This is also due to Lennie s behavior, getting them kicked of town, after town, after town. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He encounters Curley s wife and he is alone with her. Another scene that we see in the movie that is not presented through the book is when George and Lennie are working together and to load up the wagon when Curley s wife comes along. These new scenes add more of the loneliness factor that I have noticed throughout the book and the movie. I think they show the audience how desperate and lonely she is to talk to someone. I had different emotions throughout the book and movie. I One was that Lennie was useless in the beginning of the book and movie.. Another emotion that I had was towards George. I thought he was just bossing around Lennie and trying to make fun of him like when he told Lennie to jump in a river, he jumps and forgets after George saves him. On December 7, 1941, Japanese fighter planes attacked the United States naval base located in Pearl Harbor, Honolulu, Hawaii. The United States was completely blindsided. Pearl Harbor was their least suspected place for an attack to take place, so their naval base was very weak, making it an irresistible target for Japan. Over 2,000 United States sailors and soldiers died, and 1,000 were wounded. American ships and airplanes were destroyed. The United States took action against Japan and joined World War II. There was a great population of Japanese Americans on the West Coast of the United States, which caused ongoing fear and suspicion. President Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066, which ... Although these camps held Japanese Americans against their will, they did not pose dangers that would affect the well being of the citizens. Additionally, thousands of American citizens are engaged in warfare in the military. Being part of the military is far worse than being evacuated to an internment camp. According to a statement made by Representative Leland Ford in 1942, [...] if an American born Japanese, who is a citizen, is really patriotic [...] he should be willing to do it if he is patriotic [...] As against his sacrifice, millions of other native born citizens are willing to lay down their lives, which is a far greater sacrifice, of course, than being placed in a concentration camp (Document A). As citizens of the United States, it is the Japanese American s patriotic duty to make sacrifices for the country s safety, which are not dreadful in comparison to the sacrifices other citizens make for the country. Many Americans imperil their lives by serving in the military forces. Japanese Americans are solely being relocated for defense purposes. The Secretary of War, who President Roosevelt gave power to, must provide the proper necessities for those who were being relocated into the internment camps, the Japanese Americans. One way is nonviolent resistance, which is a term for describing a range of methods to deal with conflict without the use of violence. Individuals such as the Liberian women and Mohandas Gandhi claim that nonviolent resistance is justified through acts of harmonious protests and more likely to produce peaceful and constructive outcomes. Comparing Pandora s Box And The Flying Dutchman Stories Explained Introduction Myths, fairy tales, folk tales, legends and fables we all grew up hearing various wonderfully descriptive stories from each of the above listed categories. We might not have known that there are different categories for the stories we heard, maybe you thought, just like me, that a story was just a story: something to entertain and captivate you on a rainy day or a trigger to ensure vastly creative dreams as it is read moments before you fall asleep. Each of the stories that you have heard belongs to a specific category. They highlighted the developmental support systems theory that by aligning the child, family, school, and community assets are critical for promoting positive development. The theory was compared to the current study intervention linking a positive correlational data to academic performance, and ELL and English proficiency first generation learners. This study supports a school practice model and advances the topic for the development of support plans for all socially disadvantaged students by attending to each child s developmental strengths and needs; supporting cognitive, social, emotional and physical growth; and aligning resources for families, schools, and communities in a culturally competent approach. Woolf explains the difference in success between man and woman in two parts. She first explains that the values of women differ very often from the values of men, and goes on to say that in any case it is the masculine values that prevail and feminine values are devalued. (Woolf, 1929, 74) Masculine values soon became a part of society; as males were the only voices heard. Novels discussed males during the time of war, and spoke of their discoveries and contributions to the world. Since women s voices were silenced by the need to mimic males, society never got to see the woman s perspectives on matters. Consequently women altered their own values in deference to the opinion of others. (Woolf, 1929, 75) For Woolf there is a uniquely female way of writing a woman s sentence. This is one of Woolf s most provocative claims. She argues that women see and feel and value differently than men, and that because of this they must also write differently. She praises Jane Austen, who had devised a perfectly natural, shapely sentence proper for her own use and never departed from it. (Woolf, 1929, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many factors went into the decision of what discipline you received for this act and some were fair while others probably were not. There are many way fuel can cause environmental harm this can come in many forms, but one is that the use of gasoline is affecting air quality by producing emissions. This is because the process of refining the crude oil releases toxins into the atmosphere and thus causing air pollution. Burning gasoline, starting your car and driving it creates a small controlled fire, causes the combustion reaction to occur, producing water vapor and the infamous Carbon Dioxide which is awful for the environment and people breathing it in. This is due to gasoline (which is cleaner than coal) it still contributes to the production of greenhouse gases. Another thing about gasoline that causes harm to the environment is oil spills that occur mostly when oil is lost during transportation. There are four main things that stem off of fuel emissions, these are carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, particulate matter and unburned hydrocarbons. These are formed by the fuel being burned and released through the combustion reaction. The main components of gasoline that combust in gasoline are isooctane, butane, 3 ethyltoluene and an octane enhancer called MTBE (methyl tert butyl ether). Part Two: Solar Energy ... • 32. The Effects Of Dairy Farms On The Dairy Industry The dairy industry, which includes dairy farms and dairy processing plants, is a major contributor to the economy. Dairy farms are involved in the production of raw milk, whereas dairy processing plants produce a variety of dairy products (such as processed milk, cheese, butter, yogurt and ice cream). The dairy industry ranks third (based on farm cash receipts) in the Canadian agriculture sector and Newfoundland has the fewest number (n=33) of dairy farms of all the provinces (CDIC 2014). Although Quebec and Ontario are the major dairy producing provinces in Canada, Newfoundland has the highest number of dairy cows and milk production levels per farm (CDIC 2014). The close contact between animals within a dairy farm can make them prone to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2014). Furthermore, some diseases that infect dairy animals can also be transmitted to humans (Bannantine et al. 2014). Therefore, epidemiological studies are important for successful prevention and control programs. The work described in this thesis will focus on two bacterial pathogens affecting dairy animals: (i) Klebsiella species, one of the causative agent of clinical mastitis (CM, cases where the cow displays definitive symptoms of inflammation of the mammary glands and udder tissue) and (ii) MAP, which causes Johne s disease, which is a contagious bacterial disease of the intestinal tract. The molecular diversity of the pathogens associated with these two diseases has not been examined in Newfoundland previously and was therefore selected to be the topic of the research project. 1.3 Mastitis and Klebsiella species Mastitis in dairy animals is caused by a number of bacteria that include the major pathogens such as Streptococcus uberis, Staphylococcus aureus and E. coli. Other mastitis causing pathogens are Streptococcus agalactiae, Streptococcus dysgalactiae, Corynebacterium bovis, Mycoplasma spp., Staphylococcus spp., Klebsiella spp., Citrobactor spp., Enterobacter spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Pasteurella spp. and Bacillus spp. Sometimes fungi, yeasts and moulds are ...
