Karl Shepherd proposes creating a football fanzine for a younger audience between ages 16-21. They will produce both a print and online version of the fanzine, which will include Premier League and Champions League predictions, interviews with professional footballers, and game recaps. Karl has previous experience making magazines and wants to improve their skills. They will research older fanzines for inspiration and styles of journalism. To evaluate the project, Karl will review their work and research to identify strengths and areas for improvement for future projects. The fanzine will be created over four weeks, with covers and inside layout in the first two weeks and finishing and publishing in the last two weeks.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

Project proposal title and date: Factual Project. September to November 2021.
Main area of activity: I will be creating a fanzine that includes football content.
Target Audience: My main primary target audience is between 16–21-year-olds, this is
because it doesn’t resemble older style of fanzine so older people who are interested in the
older style of fanzine with the drawings and illustrations might not be as interested in my
more modern version of fanzine. It appealsto a younger audience as my fanzine will be
more modernised however a paper view might not appeal to a younger audience as they
like to do things online so I will produce an online one as well as printing one out. Also
being a part of the target audience means I know what people my age enjoys and what
would make them pick up my fanzine, so I know what I need to include.
Rationale: In my previous work I have created print style products such as magazine front
covers and posters, I have gained a few skills and picked up the basics of how to use
photoshop. I will be doing multiple experimentsbefore I start production on my project to
practice and learn things that may prove to be useful in my project. The work I have
previously created will be useful as I have already created front covers so I can use
inspiration from that to help influence and create my new project.
Project Concept: I am going to be creating a fanzine that is about football. I have decided to
make a fanzine dedicated to football as it is something I’m passionate about which gives
me more motivation an inspiration to make this project, the zine won’t be a certain club
based as I want it to reach a wider audience so it will be more of a wider audience and
unbiased. I have been researching older and more modern football fanzines and comparing
them, the football zine community and market is quite large so they are obviously quite
popular but there aren’t as many modern style fanzines available for a younger audience
which is what I intend to create. The different pages will include things ranging from
premier league and champions league predictions to interviews with professional
footballers and recaps. Another thing I will have to research are old interviews to find out
what kind of questions the professional journalists ask.
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed: Once I have completed production I will
look back through my work, research and planning and have a look to see what I did well
and what could be improved on. Ill also see if there was any more, I could have done for
research and planning, so I know for my FMP project, roughly how much needs doing.
