Target Audience
The target audience of my project is 15-20 because they are the ages that will be able to relate to
this content. The style and length of fanzine also matches my target audience, as studies have
shown that younger people have shorter attention spams, so creating a 10-12-page fanzine is the
right length to keep my audience interested. They will also watch it because lots of Lorde’s fans
are around the ages of 15-20 and would most likely to read a fanzine about her. It also means that
I can break up the articles with photos which would keep the audience’s attention for longer as
there a visual breaks in block text.
Rationale:
A similar product I have created is 2 print projects both from year one. These projects are helpful
because I was able to learn what makes a magazine enjoyable to read and what the audience
want from a magazine. It also means that I have two evaluations to be able to review, so that I can
make sure that my work is as good as it can be.
Learning how to use programmes such as InDesign and Photoshop will allow me to make sure
that this project will be at a higher standard due to the fact that I have more experience with the
software.
Project Concept:
For my project, I am going to create a 12-page fanzine about the singer Lorde and her musical
journey. It is something that I am interested and considering I am part of the age range that I would
like to appeal to, I know what young people would want to read about, and how long something
should be in order to keep the attention of the reader. For research, I will look at various articles
done by music magazines or articles done on blogs, this will help me for information for context for
my project. For structure and writing style, I will look at fanzines which already exist and see how
they write to appeal to their audience. This will be helpful so I can understand what a fanzine is
and how they usually look.
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed:
To evaluate my work, I will constantly go back and check that my work is the best it can be before
handing it in. on the last week of production, if I have any time left over, I will go back through my
pro forma and check that everything is done to over the standard that is required. This will help me
when doing my final evaluation, as it will make it easier to fill in my final section in the pro forma.
Developing my work and being self critical will help me in future projects as I can recognise here I
went wrong before and how I can improve them for the current project, thus making the standard
of my work much higher.
