This document outlines Karl Shepherd's initial project proposal for a film promotion project titled "Lost". It will include creating a trailer edited in Premiere Pro using film clips and a poster created in Photoshop. Karl has skills in these programs from previous York College courses. He plans to research existing horror films and promotions for inspiration. A 9-week schedule is included for the pre-production, production and evaluation phases.

My initial plan for the project is called ‘Lost’ - February 26 2021
Main area of activity:
I will be doing a film trailer for the main part of my project which will be recorded at a set date the
edited using Premiere Pro.
I will also be creating a poster to further promote the film which will be edited on Photoshop.
Rationale:
At York, I have learnt many different skills on Premiere Pro that will help me with my FMP, I’ve
learnt how to add different effects and transitions as well as adding text, this will help with the
trailer I will make as I will need to add in certain transitions and put in some music to make the
scenes more intense and less boring. I will need to learn about how to make text appear on the
screen letter by letter as I feel that would an interesting feature to include.
I have also learnt a lot of Photoshop skills, I now know how to make pixel art which isn’t entirely
relevant to my current project and more importantly, lots of editing skills such as how to cut people
out of images and do colour correction. This will help when creating my poster as at night the
camera on my phone isn’t the best quality or has the best lighting so knowing how to edit that will
make it so the picture looks clearer. I will need to learn how to add texture to text as flat text looks
quite boring on a poster.
Project Concept:
I am creating promotion for a product (which currently doesn’t exist), the product is a horror film
and I will be creating a trailer and a poster for it. The trailer will consist of clips from the film edited
on premiere pro to create a spooky atmosphere and to bring in and attract people to want to watch
the actual film. The poster will consist of a singular image of a single figure to hopefully creep out
the audience.
I need my promotion to reach my primary target audience so I will be uploading and sharing the
poster and trailer on places such as YouTube where a large portion of my target audience visit. I
will also be creating an Instagram page from the producers of the film to promote this film by
uploading things such as the poster and other promotional posts.
I will research already existing products to find out what they do and how its effective so I can
incorporate it into my work as they are evidently effective as they have previously drawn in other
people from the same audience to their product so if I incorporate similar elements to theirs then it
will include something they enjoy.
The atmosphere is extremely important to a horror film so I have to give the poster and the trailer a
creepy feel so I need to make sure that the area is dark and creepy to give that typical horror feel.
This means I will be filming and taking pictures at night time when its dark and they will be taken in
the woods as that makes it even creepier.

How will the project be evaluated and reviewed?
I will use the reflection forms that I complete at the end of each day I do some work which will
show what I achieved that day, what I can improve and what I need to do the next time. These are
extremely helpful as it sums up your day’s progress.
At the end of production, I will look back at all the work I completed and evaluate it, I will decide
where my strengths and weaknesses where and what I could have done better. This will be helpful
for my project after this.

Week What needs to be Completed: Tasks
1 Initial Ideas and Proposal Writing both up whilst researching information for my
bibliography.
2 Research Making my research PowerPoint, finding out effective
methods from existing products.
3 Research Finishing off my research and moving onto planning.

storyboard and a script.

for my trailer at the weekend.
