There are three main factors that affect learning: 1) Individual variables related to the learner such as age, sex, mental abilities, and previous experience. 2) Task variables like the length, difficulty, and meaningfulness of the material being learned. 3) Method variables involving the approach used, amount of practice, and use of different senses. These factors influence how easily information can be learned, retained, and applied.
