The Government of India launched the National Policy for Empowerment of Women in 2001 to create an environment for women to realize their full potential through positive economic and social policies. The policy aims to provide equal access and participation for women in decision making across political, economic, and social spheres. It also seeks to strengthen legal systems to eliminate all forms of discrimination against women and change societal attitudes through community participation of both men and women.
