One of the reasons that intruders can be successful is that most of the information they acquire from a system is in a form that they can read and comprehend. Intruders may reveal the information to others, modify it to misrepresent an individual or organization, or use it to launch an attack. One solution to this problem is, through the use of Steganography. Steganography is a technique of hiding information in digital media. In contrast to cryptography, it is not to keep others from knowing the hidden information but it is to keep others from thinking that the information even exists. In this review paper we will understand what Steganography, Cryptography is and what are the advantages of using them? In last we will discuss our goal of this paper that what types of techniques worked on video Steganography?

Abstract: Steganography is the art of hiding the fact that communication is taking place, by hiding information
in other information. There are many application of Steganography with different carrier file format. Here we
perform Steganography Technique with sending OTP on receiver mobile, which is one of the best secured
technique in current scenario. This technique is hiding file information into image with OTP password that is
only known by receiver. And can decrypt using that OTP only this is pure Steganography. Pure Steganography
means that there is none prior information shared by two communication parties. We are not sharing OTP
information by two communication parties. So this is more secure than other technique.

LSB Based Stegnography to Enhance the Security of an Imageijtsrd
Steganography is the technique of hiding a secret message or information in a cover message like an image, text or sound in such a way that only the desired or intended recipient knows about the existence of the secret data. It can be defined as the study of invisible communication which usually deals with the technique of hiding the existence of the secret message. The hidden message may be in the form of text, image, audio and video etc. An image after inserting the secret message into it by using a stego key is known as a stego image. Nowadays steganography is important due to an exponential growth in secret communication by potential computer users over the internet. In this paper we have analyzed the various steganography techniques and propose to enhance the security of the secret message by random selection of the keys to extract the secret message and working towards increasing the PSNR Peak Signal to Noise Ratio and decreasing the MSE Mean Square Error . Ordinary, file Encryption-Decryption Concepts, which are readily available in java examples are easily captured by middle way itself. So we need more security combination. This project helps to send a file from one place to another in a secured manner. Firstly the target file is encrypted and it is embedded into an audio or video or any media file. The resultant file will be protected by a password. This resultant media file is not changed in its original format and it can be run in the player, we can’t find any encrypted data inside it. This format will be sent through net. In the destination point it will be retrieved only by our software and giving the relevant password. So it is highly secured.

STEGANALYSIS ALGORITHM FOR PNG IMAGES BASED ON FUZZY LOGIC TECHNIQUEIJNSA Journal
Embedding a message in media files, also known as steganography, is a common approach to hide secret
information. It has been exploited by some criminals to confidentially exchange messages. As a countermeasure, tools have been developed in order to detect hidden information form digital media such as text, image, audio or video files. However the efficiency and performance of previous approaches still have room for improvement. In this research, we focus on algorithm design for better efficiency of hidden message detection from PNG files. We employ three classic AI approaches including neural network, fuzzy logic, and genetic algorithm and evaluate their efficiency and performance in controlled experiments. Finally we introduce our message detection system for PNG files based on LSB approach and present its usability in different case scenarios.

Present days processing of the image compression is the main protective representation with considerable data
process on each image progression. Traditionally more number of techniques were introduced for during
efficient progression in image compression on the data set representation process of application development. A
content owner encrypts the original uncompressed image using an encryption key. Then, a data hider may
compress the least significant bits of the encrypted image using a data hiding key to create a sparse space to
accommodate some additional data. With an encrypted image containing additional data, if a receiver has the
data hiding key, receiver can extract the additional data though receiver does not know the image content. If the
receiver has the encryption key, can decrypt the received data to obtain an image similar to the original one. If
the receiver has both the data hiding key and the encryption key, can extract the additional data and recover the
original content.\

A Study of Various Steganographic Techniques Used for Information Hidingijcses
The art of information hiding has received much attention in the recent years as security of information has
become a big concern in this internet era. As sharing of sensitive information via a common communication
channel has become inevitable, Steganography – the art and science of hiding information has gained
much attention. We are also surrounded by a world of secret communication, where people of all types are
transmitting information as innocent as an encrypted credit card number to an online-store and as
insidious as a terrorist plot to hijackers. Steganography derives from the Greek word steganos, meaning
covered or secret, and graphy (writing or drawing) [1]. Steganography is a technology where modern data
compression, information theory, spread spectrum, and cryptography technologies are brought together to
satisfy the need for privacy on the Internet. This paper is an attempt to analyse the various techniques used
in steganography and to identify areas in which this technique can be applied, so that the human race can
be benefited at large.

COMBINING JPEG STEGANOGRAPHY AND SUBSTITUTION ENCRYPTION FOR SECURE DATA COMM...cscpconf
The Internet is a method of communication to distribute information to the masses. Digital
image are excellent carriers for hidden information. Steganography and cryptography are
technologies that are used for secret and secured communications. In both the methods, secret
message is exchanged between two groups, sender and receiver. The main purpose in
cryptography is to make massage concept unintelligible, while steganography aims to hide
secret message. We propose a method of combining steganography, cryptography for secret
data communication. In this paper, we propose a high-performance JPEG steganography along
with a substitution encryption methodology. This approach uses the discrete cosine transform
(DCT) technique which used in the frequency domain for hiding data within image. It is very
difficult to detect hidden message in frequency domain and for this reason we use
steganography based on DCT. From the experimental results, we obtain that the proposed
method has a larger message capacity. Experimental results show that the correlation and
entropy values of the image with encrypted data before the insertion are similar to the values of
correlation and entropy after the insertion thus reduces the chance of the confidential message
being detected and enables secret communication. The image that contains the hidden data will
be used by the receiver to reconstruct the same secret message after extracting it. The
effectiveness of the proposed method has been estimated by computing Mean square error (MSE) and Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR). Experimental results show the method provides high security and the information is safe from various attacks.
Steganography and Its Applications in SecurityIJMER
ABSTRACT: Steganography is the dark cousin of cryptography, the use of codes. While cryptography provides privacy,
steganography is intended to provide secrecy. Steganography is a method of covertly communicating. Steganography is a
process that involves hiding a message in an appropriate carrier for example an image or an audio file. The carrier can then
be sent to a receiver without anyone else knowing that it contains a hidden message. This is a process, which can be used for
example by civil rights organizations in repressive states to communicate their message to the outside world without their
own government being aware of it. In this article we have tried to elucidate the different approaches towards implementation
of Steganography using ‘multimedia’ file (text, static image, audio and video). Steganalysis is a newly emerging branch of
data processing that seeks the identification of steganographic covers, and if possible message extraction. It is similar to
cryptanalysis in cryptography. The technique is ancient emerging monster that have gained immutable notice as it have
newly penetrated the world of digital communication security. Objective is not only to prevent the message being read but
also to hide its existence.

Increase in the number of attack recorded during electronic exchange of information between the source and intended destination has indeed called for a more robust method for securing data transfer. Cryptography and steganography are well known and widely used techniques that manipulate information in order to cipher or hide their existence. Many different carrier file format scan be used but digital images are the most popular because of their frequency on the internet. The digital images are the most popular because of their frequency on the Web among all different carrier file formats. Image steganography, achieves the secrecy by embedding data into cover image and generating a stego-image. There are many types of steganography techniques each have their advantages and disadvantages. This paper discussed a technique used on the advanced LSB (least significant bit) and RSA algorithm. By matching data to an image, there is less chance of an attacker being able to use steganalysis to recover data. Abstract: Steganography is an art for hiding the secret information inside other information which are digitally cover. The definition of steganography can also be given as study of unseen communication that usually deals with existence of communicated message. The hidden message can be text, audio, image or video accordingly to that it can be cover from either image or video. In steganography, hiding information achieved to insert a message into cover image which generates a stego image. In this paper, we have analyze various steganography methods and also covered classification and applications.
This paper presents a general overview of the steganography. Steganography is the art of hiding the very presence of
communication by embedding secret messages into innocuous looking cover documents, such as digital images. Detection of
steganography, estimation of message length, and its extraction belong to the field of steganalysis. Steganalysis has recently received a
great deal of attention both from law enforcement and the media. In this paper review the what data types are supported, what methods
and information security professionals indetecting the use of steganography, after detection has occurred, can the embedded message
be reliably extracted, can the embedded data be separated from the carrier revealing the original file, and finally, what are some
methods to defeat the use of steganography even if it cannot be reliably detected.

A new data hiding method is proposed in this project , which can increase the steganographic security of a data hiding scheme .In this method a cover image is first mapped into a 1D pixels sequence by Hilbert filling curve and then it has been divided into non-overlapping embedding units .The division is made such that it gives two consecutive pixel values .As human eye has limited tolerance when it comes to texture and edge areas than in smooth areas , and as the difference between the pixel pairs in those areas are larger , therefore the method exploites pixel value difference (PVD) to solve out overflow underflow problem .

Review paper on Data Security using Cryptography and Steganographyvivatechijri
One of the major problems faced by this digital world is Data Security. Data Security plays an important role in the field of information technology. As there are large advancements in internet technology, there has been huge text as well as multimedia data transfer over the internet. The communication channel available for data transfer from the transmitter to receiver is highly insecure. As the security of electronic data is a major issue and to achieve high security and confidentiality, the public and the private sectors use different kinds of techniques and methods to protect the data from unauthorized users. Cryptography and Steganography are the most popular and widely used technologies for security. Cryptography is the art of hiding information by encryption and steganography is a technique to hides data in the cover medium. Cryptography hides the readable and meaningful contents of the data. And the existence of the data is hidden by the Steganography technique.
An important topic in the exchange of confidential messages over the internet is the security of information conveyance. For instance, the producers and consumers of digital products are keen to know that their products are authentic and can be differentiated from those that are invalid. The science of encryption is the art of embedding data in audio files, images, videos or content in a way that would meet the above security needs. Steganography is a branch of data hiding science which aims to reach a describe level of security in the exchange of private military and commercial data which is not clear. This system is proposed to hide the text information files within the image based on the LSB method in order to meet security requirement such as confidential and integrity. The least significant bit is the bit which is farthest to the right and holds the least value in a multi bit binary number. This system is implemented by using C programming. Abstract:- In today’s world lots of data are being corrupted so, for a secure message transfer we need
Steganography .It is the method of hiding information in other information. Other file formats such as of audio
or video format can also be used, but because of their frequency on the internet, digital images are more
popular. There are variety of steganography technique that are used for hiding secret information and are more
complex than others while all of them have respective strong and weak points. Different applications may
require absolute invisibility of the secret information, while others require a large secret message to be hidden.
This project report intends to give an overview of image steganography, its use and techniques. It also helps to
choose which stegnographic technique are suitable for which application and also attempts to identify the
requirements of a good steganography algorithm.
Keywords: - Steganography, Cryptography, plain text, encryption, decryption, transposition cipher.
I. Introduction
The use of steganography is the solution to the problem of information being leaked by the intruders.
One solution to this problem is, through the use of steganography. ]It is a technique of hiding information in
digital media. In contrast to cryptography, rather than keeping others from knowing the hidden information, it is
to keep others from thinking that the information even exists.
Steganography becomes more valuable as more people join the cyberspace revolution. Steganography
is the way of concealing information in manner that prevents the detection of hidden messages. It include an
array of secret communication methods that hide the message from being seen or discovered.
Due to advances in ICT, most of information is kept electronically. Consequently, the security for the
information and data has become an important issue. Besides cryptography, steganography can also be
employed to keep information more secure. In cryptography, before passing message through the network, the
encrypted message is embedded in a digital host, keeping the existence of the message unknown. Besides hiding
data for confidentiality, this approach of information hiding can be extended to copyright protection for digital
media: audio, video and images.
The need of special means of security especially on a computer network is growing due to the growth
in modern communication. As the number of data /information exchange on the internet increases, the
importance of network security is increasing. Therefore, for the protection against unauthorized access and use
of data, the confidentiality and data integrity are require. Thus it has resulted in an explosive growth of the field
of information hiding.
Information hiding is an emerging research area, which encompasses applications such as copyright
protection for digital media, watermarking, fingerprinting, and steganography.
Steganography hide the secrete message within the host data set and presence imperceptible and is to
be reliably communicated to a receiver. The host data set is purposely corrupted, but in a covert way, designed
to be invisible to an information analysis.
II. Literature Survey
Privacy must be kept secure at all cost. Information security is the factor that keeps information safe
and protects the systems and hardware that use, store, and transmit that information. Information security can be
defined as measures adopted to prevent the unauthorized use or modification of applied data or capabilities.
A. Steganography vs. Watermarking
Steganography focus on the degree of invisibility while watermarking pay most of its parameters to the
robustness of the message and its ability to withstand attacks of removal, such as image operations, audio
operations in the case of images and audio files being watermarked respectively.

It is a non-questionable fact that delectability of a vessel with an stenographic message or a watermark is a
function of the changeability function of the algorithm over the vessel.
Fig 1: A typical triangle of conflict.
That is the way the algorithm changes the vessel, and the seriousness of such an operation shows with
no doubt the delectability of the message, since delectability is a method of file characteristics deviation from
the norm, embedding operation attitude and change the severity of such change decides vessel file delectability.
Invisibility, Robustness, and Security are a typical triangle of conflict. Invisibility can be define as the
amount of the notability of the contents of the message within the vessel. Security is similar to the cryptographic
idea for message security, which means inability of reconstruction of the message without the proper secret key
material shared.
Robustness refers to the durability of the message to survive disturbance or to remove attacks intact. It
is usually used in the watermarking field since watermarking seems to have the persistence of the watermark
over attacks; steganographic messages on the other hand tend to be of high sensitivity to such attacks. The more
invisible the message is the less secure and the less robust it is. Whereas, if the more robust the message is
embedded then, the more size it requires and also the more visible it is.
Fig 2: The graphical representation the system.
B. Detecting Steganography
Steganalysis is the art of detecting Steganography . It involves identifying the use of Steganography
inside of a file. It does not deal decrypt the hidden information inside of a file, rather it just discover it.
There are many methods that can be used to detect Steganography such as:
“Selecting and comparing the image file with the other image file. Multiple copies of images are on the internet,
so one can try and compare the image file that look suspicious. For example, if you download a PNG image and
your suspect file is also a PNG image, both the files may look almost similar apart from the fact that one is
larger and blur than the other one, thus it is most obvious that your suspect file has hidden information/data
inside of it.

III. Proposed System
Fig.3: The model for steganography
The proposed system for steganography is friendly user interface where the user needs to specify or
select the inputs which may be text, audio or any other file. After the operation(extracting or embedding) is done,
the user can open or just save the output of that particular operation according to their own wish. As for security
to avoid an intruder to extract the embedded data, a security key is used while extracting and embedding
message (data).
Least significant bit(LSB)is the simplest process to embed message in a digital file. LSB coding also
allows a huge amount of data to be encoded, by substituting the LSB of a each single point with a binary
message. The normal data transmission rate in LSB coding is 1kbps per 1 kHz.
However, in some cases of LSB coding, one or more than one least significant bit are replaced with two
message bits. This may result in the increase of amount of data that can be encoded whereas, it also increases
the amount of disturbance in file as well.
IV. Methodology Used
The method used to hide the information in the cover file is LSB Bit Substitution Technique.
Using this approach, the least significant bits of information that determine the meaningful content of the
original file can be replaced with new data in a way such that causes the least amount of distortion.
The advantage of using this method is that the cover file size does not change after the execution of the
algorithms.

VI. Analysis
A. Image size
The size of an image file, is, directly related to the number of pixels it contains and the granularity of
the color definition. A image of 640*480 pix, using a palate of 256 colours would require a file about 307 KB in
size (640*480 bytes) whereas a image having high-resolution of 1024*768 pix and 24-bit color would result in
a 2.36MB file(1024*768*3 bytes).
B. Cover Image
The cover image should be in Graphic Interchange Format (GIF), Bitmap (BMP) and Joint
Photographic Experts Group (JPEG). GIF and 8-bit BMP file allows the software to reconstruct the original
image, know as lossless compression.

PSNR or Peak-Signal-To-Noise –Ratio is an term used by the engineers for the ration between the
power of corrupting noise that influence its representation and the maximum possible power of a signal. The
signal in case is the real data and the corrupted noise is an error introduced by algorithms.
When comparing image PSNR is an approximation to human perception. A higher usually indicates
that the reconstruction is of better quality. It is valid only when it is used for the corruption of a result from the
same content and data. MSE or Mean Squared Error
can be used for defining PSNR. In a given method K, MSE is defined as:
VII. Conclusion
The Steganography is an interesting subject and outside of the mainstream cryptography and system
administration that most of us deal in day to day life. Steganography can be used for hiding information. We
used the LSB technique to provide a means of secure communication. A stage-key has been applied to the
system during embedment of the message into the cover image. This steganography application software is
provided for the purpose to hide any type of files in the host file. The application supports any file format of an
image, without converting it to any other format. Since ancient times, man has found a desire in the ability to
communicate covertly. The recent research in watermarking is evidence that, beside military use or espionage
application, steganography can be used in other areas where hiding of data or information security is required.
Steganography, like cryptography, will play an major role in the future of secure communication in the “digital
world” because of its unique properties of encrypting and decrypting of information.
