Lyme Disease Essay
A disease caused by the bacterium which is belongs to the class of Spirochaetes which implies
cockscrew shaped. This bacterial infection is caused by four species. Borrelia burgdorferi and Borrelia
mayonii cause the disease in the United States, while in Europe and Asia it is Borrelia afzelii and
Borrelia garinii.
A person can acquire Lyme disease by the bite of an infected tick. This disease is transmitted by deer
ticks or black legged ticks. Ticks are tiny in size and as their bite is painless, people might not even
realize that they have been bitten. Once an infected tick attaches itself to the skin, it is able to transmit
the bacteria. This bacteria eventually ends up in the bloodstream. The duration of attachment
necessary to transfer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the disease is diagnosed at an early stage, anti infections treatment is given for a duration of 14 21
days. Adults and children above 8 are recommended doxycycline, while cefuuroxime and amoxicillin
are given to younger children and breast feeding women. The infection can be totally eliminated if a
person is treated at the early stage. If Lyme disease is persistent in a patient, then they will be treated
with intravenous antibiotics. When the disease is treated at a later stage, the infection will be stopped,
but the curing of the symptoms will happen at a slower rate. A patient left untreated could face
problems with the nervous system, muscle and joints and the digestive system.
Prevention of Lyme disease lies in avoiding contact with ticks and removing ticks that attach to the
skin. Avoiding grassy and woody areas is one way. Dressing defensively to cover up the skin available
for the tick to attach is another way prevents the disease. Using repellants on exposed skin or checking
for ticks regularly are other methods.
A decade long research that ended in earlier months of this year has sequenced the genome of the tick
that causes Lyme disease. This allows researchers to understand how ticks acquire and transmit
pathogens allowing them to design a strategy to control

Characteristics Of The Geologic Tour
For century s scientist have studied the planet earth as a means to understand its makeup and vast
terrains. Earth is considered unique in the sense due to the fact that it s the only planet in the universe
known to host actual life forms. Our planet is inhabited by millions of diverse species who dwell in
different regions and landscapes. Over the course of time and through various advances in technology,
many different sciences have emerged on the scene furthering mankind s understanding of their
environment as a whole. These discoveries have also provided a great deal of insight into the
significant impact both humans and nature play in shaping environmental conditions as well.

Mount Aso is an active volcano in the center of Kyushu in Aso Kuju National Park. This volcanic
feature was formed by four massive caldera eruptions and is a product of subduction of the Pacific
Plate under the Eurasian Plate. These two plates are at a convergent boundary. Its ancient caldera
ranks among the world s largest, with a diameter of up to 25 kilometers and a circumference of over
100 kilometers. A caldera is defined as a cauldron like volcanic feature located on large central
volcanoes. This is a special kind of volcanic crater created by a magma chamber being emptied.
Mount Aso has also produced more explosive eruptions than any other volcano in the world. Aso is a
cinder cone volcano which contains felsic lava/magma. It also contains bomb rich basaltic pyroclastic.
Most of the explosions generated by this volcano are viewed as violent producing ash and blocks.
Mount Aso has not erected lava flows in historic times.
Only 8 eruptions have resulted in fatalities over the years. The majority of these deaths are tourists on
the rim of the cone. It is also important to note that frequent activity makes it extremely dangerous to
live near this feature. Another hazard one must take into consideration is inhaling volcanic gas seeping
from this monstrosity.

The Land Of Opportunity Analysis
America has long been viewed as a most interesting place, not composed of its own, but of people
from around the world, and a place where one can achieve their dreams. It is notable, however, that
America has also acquired the title The Land of Opportunity . So, gathering evidence from varying
sources, such as olden newspaper articles to modern day books on the topic, one might begin to
analyze how deserving America is of that title. As an introduction into the vastly explained conclusion
this piece comes to, taking into account what initial immigrants of varying nationalities came to
America for, and felt after, an analysis of the sort of national philosophy that is the American dream,
and the same of what the contemporary American view, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What should be made known is that America continually comes back from these hardships,
economically, and more importantly, mentally. Certain other countries have had the misfortune of
being in an economic limbo, whilst America has this seemingly natural ability to bypass that and
afford greater luxuries, such as stable economies, in reference to a cycle, of course. So, is to such a
place that has this type of economic safeguard any dream realizable? Evidently so Lastly, in video
form, comes the modern day interpretation of the American Dream, from everyday people, in an
economic situation similar to that of the environment in which Adams wrote his article, yet not as
severe as that. It should first be noted that the concept Adams spoke of, gaining a more grounded
sense of the world in times of economic hardship, is exactly what occurs in the video. Analyzed in the
video, it was stated that in times of moderate crisis, people begin to change their beliefs, those being in
this case their opinions of material wealth and how apparent such is in the American

Canadian Politics In Western Canada
Introduction: Canadian politics has always been defined by the federal government s interactions with
the various regions and provinces within Canada. Over time, Canadian politics has evolved to be
focused on three individual issues: the federal government s attempt to keep Quebec within the
federation, the economic, political, and cultural dominance of Ontario, and, from a Western Canadian
point of view, the subordination of the West. The popularity of the latter notion has become
increasingly prominent within the Western provinces over the previous decades, due to the
government s focus on the former two issues. And, for many Western Canadians, their relationship
with the federal government has largely been defined around Ottawa s refusal ... Show more content

Prior to 2011, the two wealthiest provinces in Canada were Alberta and Saskatchewan, with British
Columbia and Manitoba still wealthier than most of Canada. And, much of this growth is fueled by oil
revenue. As a result of this, much of the equalization program is paid for through the contributions
from the Western provinces, with Alberta paying the highest per capita contribution in the country. In
comparison, central Canada has become reliant on these equalization payments, with Quebec, the
single largest beneficiary both in the calendar year as well as all time, receiving 8.552 billion dollars

Principles Of Machiavelli
In the 16th century Niccolo Machiavelli presented Lorenzo de Medici with his most prized possession,
The Prince . At this time, it was custom to present the prince with your most prized possession, in
order to gain their friendship. Machiavelli spent much time studying past rulers and wrote The Prince
in which he describes how one acquires and maintains power. At the time, The Prince was not well
accepted as it went perceived to go against the Catholic Church. However, today the prince has been
deemed a classic and its teachings can be applied to the business world. Many companies have applied

Money Laundering Act 2002
B. Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 The Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002
(PMLA) was enacted to safeguard against those acts of persons which are aimed at making tainted
money appear as untainted. To take a simple example, if a person earns money through, say, dealing in
narcotic drugs and thereafter takes some steps whereby it appears to have been earned through some
legitimate business, such as running a laundry shop (the classic example), it is money laundering .
Thus, the ingredients of the Act are clear: there has to be an offence, monies have to be earned through
such offence and then an act should be made delinking such earnings from the offence and linking it
with another act that is not an offence . Relevant Provisions

Alcatraz Prison
Alcatraz was a prison, that was in use from 1934 to 1963. It housed some of the world´s most
dangerous criminals over the span of twenty nine years. I chose to write about Alcatraz because I like
the history of weird and creepy places, which Alcatraz is. Alcatraz is creepy because there are many
claims that people have heard the cries and moans in cell blocks A, B, and C. I also chose to write
about this because I wanted to learn more about Alcatraz. Someday I want to go there. This essay will
explain why an Army prison was turned into a federal penitentiary on Alcatraz Island, who were some
famous inmates that once occupied a cell there and, it will detail some of the attempted escapes from
Alcatraz.
In 1933, the U.S. Army relinquished control of the island of Alcatraz to the U.S. Justice Department
(History.com). At that time the federal government wanted a federal prison that could house a criminal
population [that was] too difficult or dangerous to be handled by other U.S. penitentiaries
(History.com). The main reason that Alcatraz was turned into a federal prison is because escape was
thought to be impossible (History.com). Alcatraz was made more secure than it already was to prevent
escapes following construction to make the prison safer. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

As airlines go, Flynas is a relatively young one. To make itself more popular, which in turn means an
increased percentage of market share. Flynas goal is to become the ideal low cost carrier in the region.
This in itself will assist them in targeting a larger market than other well established airlines. Along
with targeting a larger market Flynas has set their mission to achieve the highest level of customer
satisfaction. If they are successful in coupling this mission with their goal, Flynas will command one
of the largest customer base of any airline in the region.

Flynas could stand to make a lot of profit if it were to partner with Postal services like Aramex, Saudi
Post and DHL. The reason behind this is that, for postal services it is a big expense to manage a fleet
of its own for pick up and delivery of cargo. Partnering with Flynas gives these postal services the
advantage of not having to deal with the expense of a fleet as it would rely on Flynas fleet. Flynas
would have to make very little changes to its fleet to accommodate postal services as most planes are
already designed to carry a lot of cargo for the passengers. Decreasing cargo charges while gaining
contracts from postal services would also facilitate Flynas in achieving its goals.
The airline industry market is not a saturated one. There are very little airlines that provide the same
service that Flynas provides. While there is value and a certain degree of safety in diversification, for
Flynas to diversify would mean to take focus and financial resources away from its core business.
Currently, in its category, Flynas is leading the market and stands to enter a few other market segments
as well. However, if it were to diversify and take focus away from its core business it would become a
target of the new airlines that are trying to enter the

Essay about Immigration to the European Union
Immigration to the European Union
The EU has to decide how to deal with immigration. The European Union allows it s citizens to move
freely within it s borders, and also work in any member country. It is also relatively safe and has a
democratic government, which makes the laws and regulations, the countries within it are quite highly
developed and successful, and provide benefits to needy citizens. It may not be perfect, but compared
to other countries there are many opportunities for a good life in the EU.
It is therefore no wonder that migrants come, either fleeing violence or prosecution (asylum seekers)
or looking for work, (economic migrants).

The Express has the front page headline: Forged ID cards are a passport to terror. The article explains
how easily fake passports and ID cards can be purchased for use of immigration to Europe and
permission to work, It doesn t matter if you don t have permission to work with these you can easily
get a job, it states.¨
Should this be worrying? What seems more concerning is that it off handily switches from talk of
migrants to terrorists without much separation. Another example that gives the impression that
immigration will cause a rise in crime is given in a report from the European crime agency, Europol:
Warning that organised vice and drug gangs may flood Britain  it states dramatically. However,
evidence from the socio economic research program showed that there was no direct link between
immigration and rising crime levels. Ignorance is the basis of racism, says European research
commissioner, Phillip Basquin, and this new report should help insure that any future judgments or
policies involving immigration issues will take into account the latest facts first. ª
Taking a look on a different point of the argument, it seems that there is more evidence that goes
against the papers.
What would happen to the EU if

Parkinson s Disease And The Disease Of The Nervous System
Definition: Parkinson s disease is a chronic, progressive disease of the nervous system characterized
by the cardinal features of rigidity, bradykinesia, tremor, and postural instability (O Sullivan and
Schmitz, 2007). The condition can develop between age group 60 and 80 years and symptoms mostly
appear around 60 years of age (O Sullivan and Schmitz, 2007).
Parkinson s disease or PD is classified into idiopathic Parkinson s disease, parkinsonism due to
identifiable causes and parkinsonism in other neurodegenerative disorders. True Parkinson disease is
classified into two subclinical groups. One group demonstrates postural instability and gait
disturbances as dominant symptoms whereas the other group exhibits tremor as the prominent feature
(O Sullivan and Schmitz, 2007).
Pathophysiology:
Parkinson s disease is affected by the degeneration of dopaminergic neurons which is responsible to
produce dopamine. Dopaminergic neurons have their cell bodies in substantia nigra pars compacta
(SNpc) in basal ganglia (O Sullivan and Schmitz, 2007). Basal ganglia are a collection of
interconnected gray matter nuclear masses deep within the brain . These gray matter masses are
caudate, putamen, globus pallidus, subthalamic nucleus and the substantia nigra. Basal ganglia receive
its input through striatum (O Sullivan and Schmitz, 2007).

The Death Of Alzheimer s Brain

In Scandinavia women were thought to be evil if they had a higher power role in society over men.
This is displayed in Scandinavian literature about the story of Queen Gunnhilder, in her stories she
was described as being malevolent and her nickname was Destructive Prima Donna by one scholar. A
real life example would be an incident that occurred in 1466. A woman named Ælseby, called another
man s wife a wretch which in Norse means (sklak), and the son of a whore. Ælseby was once again
causing trouble a few years after this previous incident; after another woman had said to Ælseby that
she was a tramp who wished her husband dead , Ælseby went to the woman s house and started
beating her up. Many would stereotype Ælseby has a quarrelsome woman who is commonly
associated with being a witch. Mitchell takes Ælseby behavior a step further by referencing other
scholars who said that back during this time period women like Ælseby who was regarded as
contentious, outspoken, troublesome... were considered to be evil women. As previously mentioned,
many historians who write about witch hunting often come across various works about witchcraft
beliefs from witch hunters who believed that women had sexual relations with the devil or other

Don Quixote Foils
In the Spanish novel, The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha, written by Miguel de
Cervantes, Sancho Panza is conveniently placed throughout the story to be easily compared to others.
Sancho sets the point of being normal or regular for the settings and explains with actions and
appearance how others are. Sancho also verbally expresses the insane manner of his companion more
than once. Sancho s purpose is to not only be the foil, but also to be the reference point and
explanation of the story. Sancho is a neutral character. In chapter three, Tilting at windmills, Cervantes
states an honest, ignorant laborer named Sancho Panza . When compared to Don Quixote, Sancho is
but a simple fellow, and Quixote is a crazed old man who fantasizes being a great knight of great
chivalry. This comparison is that of an obvious one, were Sancho is foil to only Quixote. In chapter
twenty two, on page 152, Cervantes tells of Sancho s Family awaiting his return. This sheds more
light on Sancho s family, as it states later that he has a wife and children. This brings to conclusion
that Sancho has a normal sized family, that consists of normal people, since the text does not state
otherwise. Sancho is a normal guy, with a normal family, who does ... Show more content on

A Research Study On School Psychology
I have always pictured myself working with children, for as long as I can remember. Thus, for the
proposed career group project (part 1), my group presented information on the child life specialist
profession. However, after much thought, I have decided to change my emphasis from child life to
child development and pursue a career as a school psychologist, once I graduate. School psychology is
a wide ranging practice and health service provider concerned with offering an assortment of
psychological diagnosis, assessments, and interventions, et cetera to all learners (i.e. children, youth
and families) (American Psychological Association (APA), (2015). The educational requirements, as
described by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), consists of the completion of
a 60 graduate semester specialist level program in school psychology plus a 1200 hour internship, for
a majority of states (2015). Therefore, upon receiving my bachelor s degree in child and family
development, I plan to attend a graduate program that meets the NASP standards for approval, and as
stated by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (2015), clinical, counseling, and school psychologists earn an
annual median of $74,030.
What Are the Personal Philosophy, Values, and Beliefs? I feel as if school psychology is a great fit for
me. It will allow me to provide counseling and support for those students facing emotional distress

Verizon Financial Performance Analysis Summary
. Verizon s management can improve the company s segmented financial data by defining the non
GAAP measurement (Segment EBITDA), explaining why utilized and how the measurement
reconciles back to GAAP.
The auditor s report is a major source of information that officially evaluations an entity s financial
status. In conjunction with the auditor s official evaluation of the entity s financial status, the auditor
provides an assessment of the firm s monetary position and future. Auditors can provide four types of
reports: unqualified opinion, qualified opinion, adverse opinion, and a disclaimer of an opinion. An
unqualified opinion (clean report) which is issued in most cases expresses the opinion that financial
statements are presented in accordance with general accepted accounting principles and is void of
misrepresentations. The unqualified ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The qualified opinion report is similar in arrangement to the unqualified report with an additional
paragraph dictating the reason the audit report is not unqualified. The third report although rare is an
adverse opinion. An adverse opinion report is required when in the auditor s opinion the financial
statements as a whole do not conform to GAAP and are grossly misrepresented. The fourth and final
report is a disclaimer of opinion. A disclaimer report is issued when the auditor is unable to gather
sufficient information pertaining to the financial reports that an opinion cannot be determined. The
auditor s report has a direct impact on a company s ability to obtain financing from a bank as the
report lowers the cost of capital. The audit report also provides commercial value, meaning it s an
assurance the financial data is true and correct. The independent auditor for Verizon indicates an

Essay on More Joy In Heaven
In the novel More Joy in Heaven, written by Morley Callaghan, Kip Caley has a quest for a new life
after prison. As he gets used to being a freeman he learns more about what he really wants in life.
When Kip finds out what it is that he is searching for in his new life, like in all tragedies, it is too late.
Because he is not sure if Julie, the girl, or the parole board is what he wants, he spends too much time
trying to find out and when he knows it is too late. In his search for a new life Kip knows that he is a
free man and wants to show it to the people while he says that he does not want to be viewed
constantly by the public.

As the book continues Kip learns that he actually wants Julie more than to be on the parole board.
This comes to him to late in the novel as in most tragedies. Oh, Kip I I brought you death. See I
wanted to tell you, jerking the words out desperately. You brought me life. (Callaghan 186) Kip, in his
last moments tells Julie that she is what he wants in life, she is not the parole board. She thinks she is
the one who made him die, but she gave him what he wanted in his quest for a new life.
Kip is a free man. He deserves what free men get. Free men get women, so when he gets a lady he
knows he is free, and wants to show it to the judge: She had seemed beyond him; he could have her if
he wanted her. All his hopefulness rose again and with it a surge of power. He wanted to rush out right
then and see Judge Ford. (Callaghan 100) Kip wanted to go see the judge for two reasons, he wants to
show him that he is a free man, and he wanted to use the surge of power to help change the judges
mind about him. Kip is a free man, and has experiences that really show him that he is, and help him

The next revolution in car production took place not in the United States but in Japan. A change in
management thinking occurred there when Ohno Taiichi, a Toyota production engineer, pioneered the
development of lean manufacturing in the 1960s after touring the US plants of the Big Three car
companies. The management philosophy behind lean manufacturing is to continuously find methods
to improve the efficiency of the production process in order to reduce costs, increase quality, and
reduce car assembly time. In lean manufacturing, workers work on a moving production line, but they
are organized into small teams, each of which is responsible for a particular phase of car assembly,
such as installing the car s transmission or electrical wiring system. Each team member is expected to
learn all the tasks of all members of his or her team, and each work group is charged with the
responsibility not only to assemble cars but also to continuously find ways to increase quality and
reduce costs. By 1970, Japanese managers had applied the new lean production system so efficiently
that they were producing higher quality cars at lower prices than their US counterparts, and by 1980
Japanese companies were dominating the global car market. To compete with the Japanese, managers
at the Big Three car makers visited Japan to learn lean production methods. In recent years, Chrysler
Canada has been the North American model for speed in automobile production. Chrysler s Windsor,

Religious Beliefs in Aeschylus Oresteia, Homer s Iliad, and Sophocles Electra
The final and definitive defeat of the Persian army at the battle of Plataea represented the end of an
age long threat to Athens. But the victory was also a miracle, as all the odds were against the
Athenians at the onset of the war. While Pericles took charge of Athens after the war and started the
advance of democracy, religion also thrived. The rebuilding of the Acropolis and the construction of
the Parthenon and its great statue of Athene under Pericles rule signified the height of religious belief
among Athenians. However, the shift in power from the aristocrats to the common men in the new

Something close to a Homeric view can be drawn from this, with the difference being that Gods and
Goddesses always take the form of a mortal when interacting with other mortals in Homer s epic
poems, but the form that they appeared in was not addressed in The Eumenides.
In the very same scene, after Orestes, Hermes, and Apollo have exited, the ghost of Clytaemestra is
seen trying to awaken the sleeping Furies so they can continue their pursuit of Orestes. The
appearance of ghosts is nothing new, as it has been done before in Homer s poems. What this shows,
however, is that Aeschylus, likely a representative of Athenians during his time, had the same view
that Homer did. In their eyes, not only do Gods and Goddesses walk among men, but even ghosts,
something that should be considered on the opposite side of the spectrum, also appear in our world, as
real as any men can be.
The second scene of The Eumenides begins with Orestes arrival at the Acropolis, as he takes a
suppliant posture at the feet of the statue of Athene (Aeschylus, 143). Athene is said to have entered in
full armor (Aeschylus, 148), answering Orestes call for justice, just as the Furies have caught up with
him. What follows is a full blown trial similar to those of the present days. At one point, Athene re
enters [the scene], guiding twelve citizens chosen as jurors and attended by a herald (Aeschylus, 154).

I don t think so. If you go to the bars a lot, then you know who the drinkers are because of their big

settled in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1855. In 1855, Miller purchased a small brewery called the Plank

Frederick Miller began building his own American dream barrel by barrel. He produced the finest
quality beer, made from locally grown hops and barley, and using a unique brewer s yeast that he hand
carried from Germany. (The yeast they use in our beers today is a descendant of that very yeast so
treasured by our founder!) Before his death in 1888, Frederick Miller became one of the early pioneers
of bottling beer. After his passing, Frederick Miller s immediate family members continued his legacy,

prohibition. In 1903, Miller named its most popular beer, High Life, and the Champagne of Bottled

Positive Effects Of Underdevelopment In Africa
underdevelopment in Africa was made possible by positive feedback loops starting with the uneven
development in earlier centuries enforced by European constant exploitation of raw materials and
human labor from Africa. It traces the root of underdevelopment Africa back to the pre colonial
period. The natural path of development from communalism to feudalism and capitalism in Africa was
messed up by the European slave trade. The trade in slave was facilitated by African rulers greed for
luxury goods and European products. The effect of this trade was devastating in that it caused
considerable dislocation and disruption in the local economy, caused internal conflict as a result of
slave raiding and a huge loss of African labor. (Rodney ignored the Arab slave trade, which caused an
equivalent loss of human beings, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rodney puts together a biting criticism of Europe s interaction with Africa starting in the 15th century
with trading, both the slave trade and the trade in goods. This essentially killed inter Africa trade,
forcing African civilizations to only trade with European and other western economies. This also
changed the economies of African civilizations to suit what the traders wanted, whether human beings,
cotton, or minerals. When European powers grew as a result of the profits from trade, they then carved
Africa into its current state and entered the continent to force more and more production of things that
would increase profit for the western markets. Banks, industries, and nations prospered by the use of
underpaid, sometimes forced African labor. Meanwhile, civilizations fell apart and education came to
a stand still. This book left me further convinced in the concept of reparations, not just for slavery, but
for the destruction of an entire continent and all the people that came from there in the last 500

How Does John Locke Write An Essay Concerning Human...
John Locke in An Essay Concerning Human Understanding argues that there can be made a
distinction between ideas in the mind and qualities in bodies. Ideas are whatsoever the mind perceives
in itself, or is the immediate object of perception, thought, or understanding (Locke II.8 §8). The
power to produce any idea in our mind is what Locke calls the quality of a subject in which that power
is. A snowball has the power to produce in us the ideas of round, white, and cold as they are in a
snowball, which is its quality. The sensations and perceptions in our understanding is what Locke calls
ideas.
The qualities are divided into two categories: the primary and the secondary qualities. The original or

Atomic Bombs On Hiroshima, Japan, And The United States
August 6th 1945, the United States dropped the first of two atomic bombs on Hiroshima, Japan. World
War Two was practically over, but Japan and the United States weren t getting along due to Japan
bombing Pearl Harbor. The President of the United States (Truman) and U.K. Prime Minister Winston
Churchill Issued the Potsdam Declaration which was the declaration that was put on the table for
Japan after Germany had surrendered. Earlier in the war we had been putting together atomic weapons
in case the war was getting out of hand. Since Japan wouldn t surrender after the Potsdam we dropped
the 1st bomb. Japan had still not surrendered so we dropped a second bomb on Nagasaki, Japan. There
was a combined total of casualties after the 1st bomb of 140,000. The second bomb totaled out to
120,000 casualties. Dropping these bombs helped the United States win the war. In my Opinion, the
decision to drop both bombs on Japan was the best alternative the United States had to remain stable
and to hold military lives. There are many reasons the United States choose to drop the Atomic bomb.
According to the White House press release the decision was pretty much made up after the Potsdam
declaration, which gave Japan the opportunity to surrender, was refused by Japan so the United States
was then in full force. Their leaders promptly rejected that ultimatum. If they do not now accept our

What Are The Four Major Developmental Theories
Introduction
Developmental theories help teachers in many ways to enrich their teaching and student s learning
process. Therefore, it is very important teachers to apply the key ideas of these developmental theories
in their teaching career to the betterment of students.
This document will present a brief description of four major developmental theories and will focus on
how these theories can be applied in my real teaching world as a middle school teacher. Four major
developmental theories
Though many theorists have brought the study of human development, there are about four major
important theories that are in use effective (Oswalt, Major Child Development Theories and Theorists,
2007). They are:

Piaget s stages of cognitive development theory
Jean Piaget has brought a cognitive developmental theory with four stages;
Sensorimotor (birth to 2 years), Preoperational (2 to 7 years), Concrete operational (7 to 11 years), and
formal operational (12 years to adulthood). In
Piaget s view, throughout these four stages all children develop their thinking according to how they
see the world around them (Oswalt, Jean Piaget and Child Development
, 2007).
Lawrence Kohlberg s theory of moral development
In Kohlberg s moral development theory, he discussed about the process which people learn how to
identify and differentiate what is right and what is wrong.
In his theory, he presented main three levels with total six stages. They

The Power of Persuasion in Advertisements Essay

messages to viewers. These different techniques have proven to be effective with television watchers.
Advertisers use these three techniques to target a certain audience. Demographics play a large role in

The advertisements generally deal with breakfast foods, toys, clothing, and cars. The targeted age
range covers a wide spread. Depending on the type of channel, the advertisements will vary and target
a certain age group. Transforming a brand into a socially responsible leader doesn t happen overnight
by simply writing new marketing and advertising strategies. It takes effort to identify a vision that
your customers will find credible and aligned with their values (Mainwaring). For example, the Leo
Messi on the road to the 2014 FIFA World Cup™ Fast commercial advertises a pair of Adidas soccer
cleats. Furthermore, the ad is trying to persuade young athletes to buy this product. The appeal is to
ethos because the ad relies on the credibility of a professional athlete. The next ad in this time slot is
from Old Spice, The Man Your Man Could Smell Like. This is in the demographic category of gender
as it appeals to both men and women. Men will be great if they wear the product. Also, women should
buy the product so their man will smell great. The next time slot is the ten a.m. to four p.m. window.
The ads aired during this time generally aim to reach the older generation and have to do with aging.
Another target is children when they arrive home from school. A commercial that depicts how
advertisers target the elder age group is from Coca Cola, Older Couple Turn into Adorable Kids. The
appeal is ethos; older people will feel and appear younger after they

Essay on Feminism in Dubliners
| Feminism in Dubliners |
Mrs. Atkins; English A3
Tuesday, May 25, 2010
James Joyce s book of short stories entitled Dubliners examines feminism and the role of women in
Irish society. The author is ahead of his time by bringing women to the forefront of his stories and
using them to show major roles and flaws in Irish society, specifically in Eveline and The Boarding
House . James Joyce portrays women as victims who are forced to assume a leading and somewhat
patriarchal role in their families. He uses them to show the paralysis of his native land Ireland, and the
disruption in social order that is caused by the constant cycle of abuse that he finds commonplace in
Ireland. Joyce is trying to end the Victorian and archaic view of ... Show more content on

This is seen when the narrator speaks about the story of the field that Eveline, her brothers, and
another family s children used to play on which was bought by a man from Belfast in order to build a
house. Another example, is how she and her brothers would play out in a field, and her father would
come to hunt them in out of the field with his blackthorn stick (34). This also symbolizes the discord
of family relations, and the premature annihilation of her childhood innocence by her father and the
premature end of innocence that is caused by abusive men to their children in Ireland. Eveline is also
denied the basic right to love and affection by her own choice. She finds a man who loves and values
her, and is the exact opposite of her abusive father. Frank represents the opportunity for escape and a
break in the cycle. She finally has an opportunity for a new life, and she chooses to stay in Ireland to
take care of her father and brothers. Eveline s choice to stay in Ireland, rather than to leave with Frank
can be seen as a result of the lack of self worth and mental constraints set on her by her father, which
parallels the fact that Ireland s paralysis is caused by the abuse of male authority roles. Eveline feels
tied to her father, in the same way a hopeless chained animal who knows no better than to wait
patiently and endure. The illusion of captivity was so complete that even though she had an
opportunity to escape her cage , she chose to stay in it.

Where is the line defining how much trust you should have in another persons word? In the case of
Beatrice and Benedict, their trust in the admonition of their peers led them to be manipulated and their
thoughts were tainted. However, their deception turned out to catalyst true love. As soon as their love
virus spread, the two witty, independent individuals completely dismissed the disdain that they so
grudgingly held for one another. This satiric event exposes the idea that quite possibly one should
spend a bit more time processing and questioning information handed to them. Beatrice and Benedict
fell into the influence of the conspirators and all previous ideas of one another dissipated. In my
personal opinion, I would have a bit more trouble than Beatrice when falling for a man who referred to
her as Lady Disdain and who compared her intellectual, tenacious wit to a horse (pg. 12). So either the
people of Shakespeare s time didn t hold grudges, or he is making fun of people who will give up all

Analysis Of The Prologue By Anne Bradstreet
Tierra Nick
Professor Parker
ENG 202 01
5 October 2017
The Prologue By Anne Bradstreet
Anne Bradstreet s poem, The Prologue , is about the struggle of women in a Puritan Society. In the
Puritan Society, women are held to a certain standard. Women were not able to speak their mind,
openly show they were educated, or express themselves freely, because it was looked down on. The
Prologue , is titled to mark the beginning of her work. In this poem, Bradstreet acknowledges her role
as a woman in a Puritan society, but also makes a brave attempt to achieve freedom from the Puritan
Society. Bradstreet is on a mission to prove to the Puritan society that women are worthy enough to do
what men do. Bradstreet fights for feminism. Bradstreet begins her poem by acknowledging those
superior to her: To sing of wars, of captains, and of kings
Of cities founded, commonwealths begun For my mean pen are too superior things
Or how they all, or each their dates have run
Let poets and historians set these forth
My obscure lines shall not so dim their worth
(Bradstreet 1 6) In lines 1 6, she explains that she is aware of those who contributed to society,
because they have accomplished great things, things that she cannot take away from them. She states
she will not discuss them because her mean pen are too superior things (Bradstreet 3). Bradstreet uses
too to reference her work as being also superior. She wishes to leave it to them to talk about history
without criticizing their worth and the same should be done for her. She adds the word obscure
(Bradstreet 6), to acknowledge her lines are hidden using a form of symbolism. Symbolizing that most
women are hiding their truths. Her point goes into further detail in stanza 2.
Bradstreet begins stanza 2, But when my wond ring eyes and envious heart/Great Bartas sugared lines
do but read o er (Bradstreet 7 8). Bradstreet in some way degrades her poetry, just like the Puritan
society would do. She talks about another poet Barta. When she reads his poems they seem so great
and she envy s him. She also refers to Bartas work as sugared lines referring to his poetry as
pleasurable to read. She uses Barta (a male figure), to further clarify how she will not challenge the

Homer s Use Of Authority In The Iliad
The word authority originated from the Latin verb augere which means to increase or promote. From
the perspective of an everyday usage it has broad meanings and associations such as power to enforce
obedience, or power to influence action and when we are using authority we are referring to a person
or group of people who exercise that power. Moreover, authority is associated with social force and is
linked to ideas of power through knowledge thus, we ought to respect it. Furthermore, authority
depends on collective consent and they are the ones who give approval to authorities in order for their
work to be a literary canon. Even though, the word canon was initially referenced only to religious
texts such as the Bible and its like but it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It starts with But Achilles was coming closer, like Enyalius here the poet is showing us the bravery of
Achilles by comparing him to the war of god and how good he is in the battlefield. He goes further on
by glorifying the war and the protagonist and enhancing it by saying The bronze around him glittered
like a blazing fire or rising sun. Also, Homer is eloquent in the language and that is proven by how the
choice of his vocabulary, for example when he was narrating the fastness of Achilles when chasing
Hector Pelus son went after him, sure of his speed on foot. Just as a mountain falcon, the fastest
creature of all the ones which fly, swoops down easily on a trembling pigeon as it darts off in fear, the
hawk speeding after it with piercing cries here, he is comparing the speed of Achilles with the fastest
bird and it is also an extended simile and he is trying to show us both the speed and power of the hero
and how he wants to devour its victory. These are just few examples of the similes the poet used but
we can see that he has in depth knowledge of the event and time is not a limited factor since he is able
to narrate the past, current and events that may happen in the future, he also knows what the Gods are
discussing regards to human affairs. Homer is also rich in language and he is able to play with the
language in various ways, such as the usage of similes and puns, he is talking about the fig tree, which
is alluded to the bible and it is referring to the beginning of the

Genghis Khan As A Tyrant
Genghis Khan: Mongolian Tyrant or Hero?
Genghis Khan was a military and political leader, a father, and a tyrant or a hero depending on which
side of the battle you were on. By the time Genghis Khan died you could fit four Roman Empires
within the Mongolian border. He became strong because of the hardships and experiences of his
childhood. He transformed the Mongolian tribes into a country much like the Persian wars united the
Greek city states into Greece.
Everybody Knows who Genghis Khan is, but how many know about Temujin. Temujin is Genghis
Khan s real name. He wasn t given that name until he united the Mongolian plains later in life.
Genghis means strong and Khan means leader. So he was called strong leader by his followers.

Temujin is Genghis Khan s real name. He wasn t given that name until he united the Mongolian plains
later in life. Genghis means strong and Khan means leader. So he was called strong leader by his
followers.
When Temujin was young he was the son of the chief of the Tayichud tribe. His father was poisoned
by someone from the Merkid tribe that they raided. After his father s death, his clansmen stopped
sharing food with his family and eventually the new clan lord banished them from the group and left
their family. Temujin and his brothers had to forage for food. He became best friends with a boy
named Jamuka from a nearby encampment. Jamuka became his Ananda or blood brother.
When he was young, Temujin went with his father to arrange a marriage with someone from his
mother s family to maintain family ties and power. While he was on his way, they met an old man who
boasted that his tribe had the most beautiful girls. This turned out to be true, and his father arranged a
marriage with the old man s granddaughter. She was just a year older than Temujin and he fell in love
with her. When he turned 16 he went to find the girl, Borte, and married her. Borte and Temujin had
four children named Jochi, Chagatai, Ogodei, and

Comparison Between Friedrich Nietzsche And Dr. Martin...
Whether or not you agree with their views, both Friedrich Nietzsche and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
were great, highly influential men. Their views, though radically different, impacted the world in the
greatest of ways, altering history for many nations. While Nietzsche, a German philosopher from the
1800s, spoke from a materialistic point of view, believing that there is no god and that all that exists is
matter, King, a civil rights activist of the 1900s, spoke from the belief in transcendence, that there is
indeed a god, and that he exists in a divine realm outside of this universe. But not only do these men
differ in their backgrounds and religious beliefs, they differ radically in how they believe society
should function. In Nietzsche s writings, he promoted a system that emphasizes will to power. He
believed that an aristocracy was the basis for a great society. King, on the other hand, promoted a
system of equality and justice. He thought all men were created equal, and that society should reflect
that belief. The writings of these men have come to be studied by people everywhere. They are so
influential, in fact, that one of them played an incredible role in getting our society to the point that it
is today.
As stated previously, Nietzsche s work was both great and highly influential. The Nazis even used his
writings as a basis for their beliefs. Nietzsche believed that the greatest societies were always built
upon the aristocratic system. Since he believed there

Lines Composed A Few Miles Above Tintern Abbey Essay
In quot;Lines Composed A Few Miles Above Tintern Abbey quot;, Wordsworth uses imagination to
help him and others to live in the physical world peacefully. He recalls playing in Tintern Abbey, a
forest nearby there and played in it when he was young. Now he comes back for different reasons. He
escapes the world which is individualism and goes to the forest to get away from all the burden. He
tells his young sister that she can always come here to get away from her problems as well. In the
poem, Wordsworth uses nature to solve problems in life.
The Tintern Abbey has mysterious powers that only those in touch with nature can see. Wordsworth
illustrates such powers by writing, quot; These beauteous forms/Through a long absence, have not ...

He illustrates his belief that he does not need the good luck of the Albatross. He decides to severe his
bonds with the universal cycle of life and love. Following the execution of the Albatross, the Mariner s
luck suddenly changes. He experiences the punishment that comes with the moral error of killing the
Albatross. The punishment is isolation and alienation from everything but himself. Thereafter, the
quot;Nightmare, quot; the life in death, kills his crew. He is lost at sea, left alone in the night to suffer,
and he has detached from his natural cycle. The Mariner proclaims his misery when he says,
quot;Alone, alone, all, all alone, Alone on a wide wide sea! / And never a saint took pity on My soul in
agony quot;. To the Mariner, nature has become foreign. The execution of the Albatross causes
physical and spiritual decay.
amp;#9;The Mariner then has a changed eye on nature. While looking at the stars and the moon, the
Mariner notices that the stars have a place in the sky, and they belong to a set position. The Moon,
however does not, and is on a journey like the Mariner. It is then that the Mariner decides to accept
everything around him as beautiful. A natural course of action takes place and his bonds with the cycle
of life are recreated, setting him back on

Borrelia burgdorferi and Borrelia mayonii cause the disease in the United States, while in Europe and Asia it is Borrelia afzelii and Borrelia garinii. A person can acquire Lyme disease by the bite of an infected tick. This disease is transmitted by deer ticks or black legged ticks. Adults and children above 8 are recommended doxycycline, while cefuuroxime and amoxicillin are given to younger children and breast feeding women. The infection can be totally eliminated if a person is treated at the early stage. If Lyme disease is persistent in a patient, then they will be treated with intravenous antibiotics. When the disease is treated at a later stage, the infection will be stopped, but the curing of the symptoms will happen at a slower rate. A patient left untreated could face problems with the nervous system, muscle and joints and the digestive system. Prevention of Lyme disease lies in avoiding contact with ticks and removing ticks that attach to the skin. Avoiding grassy and woody areas is one way. Dressing defensively to cover up the skin available for the tick to attach is another way prevents the disease. Using repellants on exposed skin or checking for ticks regularly are other methods. A decade long research that ended in earlier months of this year has sequenced the genome of the tick that causes Lyme disease. This allows researchers to understand how ticks acquire and transmit pathogens allowing them to design a strategy to control ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This volcanic feature was formed by four massive caldera eruptions and is a product of subduction of the Pacific Plate under the Eurasian Plate. These two plates are at a convergent boundary. Its ancient caldera ranks among the world s largest, with a diameter of up to 25 kilometers and a circumference of over 100 kilometers. A caldera is defined as a cauldron like volcanic feature located on large central volcanoes. This is a special kind of volcanic crater created by a magma chamber being emptied. Don Quixote Foils In the Spanish novel, The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha, written by Miguel de Cervantes, Sancho Panza is conveniently placed throughout the story to be easily compared to others. Sancho sets the point of being normal or regular for the settings and explains with actions and appearance how others are. Sancho also verbally expresses the insane manner of his companion more than once. Sancho s purpose is to not only be the foil, but also to be the reference point and explanation of the story. Sancho is a neutral character. In chapter three, Tilting at windmills, Cervantes states an honest, ignorant laborer named Sancho Panza . When compared to Don Quixote, Sancho is but a simple fellow, and Quixote is a crazed old man who fantasizes being a great knight of great chivalry. This comparison is that of an obvious one, were Sancho is foil to only Quixote. In chapter twenty two, on page 152, Cervantes tells of Sancho s Family awaiting his return. The next revolution in car production took place not in the United States but in Japan. A change in management thinking occurred there when Ohno Taiichi, a Toyota production engineer, pioneered the development of lean manufacturing in the 1960s after touring the US plants of the Big Three car companies. The management philosophy behind lean manufacturing is to continuously find methods to improve the efficiency of the production process in order to reduce costs, increase quality, and reduce car assembly time. In lean manufacturing, workers work on a moving production line, but they are organized into small teams, each of which is responsible for a particular phase of car assembly, such as installing the car s transmission or electrical wiring system. Each team member is expected to learn all the tasks of all members of his or her team, and each work group is charged with the responsibility not only to assemble cars but also to continuously find ways to increase quality and reduce costs. By 1970, Japanese managers had applied the new lean production system so efficiently that they were producing higher quality cars at lower prices than their US counterparts, and by 1980 Japanese companies were dominating the global car market. To compete with the Japanese, managers at the Big Three car makers visited Japan to learn lean production methods. But the victory was also a miracle, as all the odds were against the Athenians at the onset of the war. While Pericles took charge of Athens after the war and started the advance of democracy, religion also thrived. Something close to a Homeric view can be drawn from this, with the difference being that Gods and Goddesses always take the form of a mortal when interacting with other mortals in Homer s epic poems, but the form that they appeared in was not addressed in The Eumenides. In the very same scene, after Orestes, Hermes, and Apollo have exited, the ghost of Clytaemestra is seen trying to awaken the sleeping Furies so they can continue their pursuit of Orestes. The appearance of ghosts is nothing new, as it has been done before in Homer s poems. What this shows, however, is that Aeschylus, likely a representative of Athenians during his time, had the same view that Homer did. In their eyes, not only do Gods and Goddesses walk among men, but even ghosts, something that should be considered on the opposite side of the spectrum, also appear in our world, as real as any men can be. The second scene of The Eumenides begins with Orestes arrival at the Acropolis, as he takes a suppliant posture at the feet of the statue of Athene (Aeschylus, 143). Athene is said to have entered in full armor (Aeschylus, 148), answering Orestes call for justice, just as the Furies have caught up with him. Positive Effects Of Underdevelopment In Africa underdevelopment in Africa was made possible by positive feedback loops starting with the uneven development in earlier centuries enforced by European constant exploitation of raw materials and human labor from Africa. It traces the root of underdevelopment Africa back to the pre colonial period. The natural path of development from communalism to feudalism and capitalism in Africa was messed up by the European slave trade. The trade in slave was facilitated by African rulers greed for luxury goods and European products. The President of the United States (Truman) and U.K. Prime Minister Winston Churchill Issued the Potsdam Declaration which was the declaration that was put on the table for Japan after Germany had surrendered. The author is ahead of his time by bringing women to the forefront of his stories and using them to show major roles and flaws in Irish society, specifically in Eveline and The Boarding House . James Joyce portrays women as victims who are forced to assume a leading and somewhat patriarchal role in their families. Another example, is how she and her brothers would play out in a field, and her father would come to hunt them in out of the field with his blackthorn stick (34). This also symbolizes the discord of family relations, and the premature annihilation of her childhood innocence by her father and the premature end of innocence that is caused by abusive men to their children in Ireland. Eveline is also denied the basic right to love and affection by her own choice. She finds a man who loves and values her, and is the exact opposite of her abusive father. Frank represents the opportunity for escape and a break in the cycle. She finally has an opportunity for a new life, and she chooses to stay in Ireland to take care of her father and brothers. Eveline s choice to stay in Ireland, rather than to leave with Frank can be seen as a result of the lack of self worth and mental constraints set on her by her father, which parallels the fact that Ireland s paralysis is caused by the abuse of male authority roles. Analysis Of The Prologue By Anne Bradstreet Tierra Nick Professor Parker ENG 202 01 5 October 2017 The Prologue By Anne Bradstreet Anne Bradstreet s poem, The Prologue , is about the struggle of women in a Puritan Society. In the Puritan Society, women are held to a certain standard. Women were not able to speak their mind, openly show they were educated, or express themselves freely, because it was looked down on. The Prologue , is titled to mark the beginning of her work. In this poem, Bradstreet acknowledges her role as a woman in a Puritan society, but also makes a brave attempt to achieve freedom from the Puritan Society. Bradstreet is on a mission to prove to the Puritan society that women are worthy enough to do what men do. Bradstreet fights for feminism. Bradstreet begins her poem by acknowledging those superior to her: To sing of wars, of captains, and of kings Of cities founded, commonwealths begun For my mean pen are too superior things Or how they all, or each their dates have run Let poets and historians set these forth My obscure lines shall not so dim their worth (Bradstreet 1 6) In lines 1 6, she explains that she is aware of those who contributed to society, because they have accomplished great things, things that she cannot take away from them. She states she will not discuss them because her mean pen are too superior things (Bradstreet 3). Bradstreet uses too to reference her work as being also superior. She wishes to leave it to them to talk about history without criticizing their worth and the same should be done for her. It starts with But Achilles was coming closer, like Enyalius here the poet is showing us the bravery of Achilles by comparing him to the war of god and how good he is in the battlefield. He goes further on by glorifying the war and the protagonist and enhancing it by saying The bronze around him glittered like a blazing fire or rising sun. Also, Homer is eloquent in the language and that is proven by how the choice of his vocabulary, for example when he was narrating the fastness of Achilles when chasing Hector Pelus son went after him, sure of his speed on foot. Just as a mountain falcon, the fastest creature of all the ones which fly, swoops down easily on a trembling pigeon as it darts off in fear, the hawk speeding after it with piercing cries here, he is comparing the speed of Achilles with the fastest bird and it is also an extended simile and he is trying to show us both the speed and power of the hero and how he wants to devour its victory. These are just few examples of the similes the poet used but we can see that he has in depth knowledge of the event and time is not a limited factor since he is able to narrate the past, current and events that may happen in the future, he also knows what the Gods are discussing regards to human affairs. • 45. Comparison Between Friedrich Nietzsche And Dr. Martin... Whether or not you agree with their views, both Friedrich Nietzsche and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. were great, highly influential men. Their views, though radically different, impacted the world in the greatest of ways, altering history for many nations. While Nietzsche, a German philosopher from the 1800s, spoke from a materialistic point of view, believing that there is no god and that all that exists is matter, King, a civil rights activist of the 1900s, spoke from the belief in transcendence, that there is indeed a god, and that he exists in a divine realm outside of this universe. But not only do these men differ in their backgrounds and religious beliefs, they differ radically in how they believe society should function. In Nietzsche s writings, he promoted a system that emphasizes will to power. He believed that an aristocracy was the basis for a great society. King, on the other hand, promoted a system of equality and justice. He thought all men were created equal, and that society should reflect that belief. The writings of these men have come to be studied by people everywhere. They are so influential, in fact, that one of them played an incredible role in getting our society to the point that it is today. As stated previously, Nietzsche s work was both great and highly influential. The Nazis even used his writings as a basis for their beliefs. Nietzsche believed that the greatest societies were always built upon the aristocratic system. Since he believed there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
