Toshiba s history dates back to 1875 in Japan. For the fiscal year ending March 31, 2015,
Toshiba s net worldwide sales were greater than $63 billion and employed more than 200,000 people
worldwide (Carpenter, 2015). In April of 2015, the company came forth and made an announcement
that it was having accounting problems. However, the severity of the scandal became known early in
September 2015 (Addady, 2015). The shares took a dive after the April announcement. In July 2015,
CEO Hisao Tanaka resigned after facing this accounting scandal and was a direct link to $1.2 billion
in overstated profits (Carpenter, 2015). Toshiba s first remedy was a management change. The
company overstated its earnings close to $2 billion over the past seven years (Addady, 2015).
The investigation panel report revealed that the external auditors failed to discover the inappropriate
accounting issues, the involvement of two former CEOs, Atsutoshi Nishida (2005

Recently there have been many school shootings throughout the United States and the world. Most of
these shooting were all connected with the shooter being on anti depressant medications. In an article

them prove that they cure depression or mood swings. Could these medications be connected to some

the rodeo to start. Before the bareback rider gets on his horse I notice his belt, fabricated with

Post Modernism can be described as a particular style of thought. It is a concept that correlates the
emergence of new features and types of social life and economic order in a culture; often called
modernization, post industrial, consumer, media, or multinational capitalistic societies.

process of social, technological, and cultural change (either through improvement, that is, progress, or

There are several societal factors that have indicated and resulted in the rise of Modernity. The origin
of Modernity may have its roots in several periods: the year 1436, with Gutenberg s adoption of
moveable type; or in 1520, and Luther s rebellion against Church authority; or 1648, and the end of
the Thirty Years War; while even still, it could have begun during the American or French Revolutions
of 1776 or 1789; or even the rise of Modernism in fine arts and literature.
How we ourselves are to feel about the prospects of Modernity depends on what we see as the heart
and core of the modern, and what key events in our eyes gave rise to the modern world.
Societal Responses to Modernity:
During the period of the 1500 s thru the 1900 s the framework and presuppositions about Nature and
Humanity were being progressively challenged and overturned by many scientific advances, until not
one, or very little of their elements were accepted by reasonably educated people. European society

The presentation of a character may affect the amount of sympathy the character gains from the
audience. Shakespeare presents the character of Shylock as a flesh eating, greedy and obsessive
character in his play merchant of Venice ; by doing this Shakespeare manipulates the response
Shylock gets from the audience in Act 4 Scene 1. Our response is manipulated by S. so most of the
audience, by the end of the play, feel none or very little sympathy towards the character of Shylock.
The audience see the side of Shylock, who is driven by the desire for revenge. At the start of the play
Shylock says in his soliloquy If I can catch him once upon the hip this shows his crave to catch
Antonio out, it also shows that all Shylock wants is the upper hand; to have power over Antonio. In
that same speech he also says feed fat the ancient grudge indicating that he will feed fat of Antonio as
a way of revenge and this will be the only thing that satisfies him to the full. Shakespeare uses
alliteration in this speech, which makes it more memorable for the audience so they can remember the
thoughts of Shylock. S. also associates Shylock with cannibalism, it gives the audience a clear
indication that Shylock s aim is to Kill Antonio. Therefore when Shylock is stripped from his chance
of revenge, the audience may not feel sympathy for him as they know that is intention was to kill
Antonio, and he had a clear motive for it. Shylock s motive may actually be the fact that he is losing

While the 90s notoriously brought us a myriad of classic sitcoms, there are none as infamous as
Friends and Seinfeld. The two are often compared due to their simultaneous airings and similar
audiences, but there is no doubt that Friends is the better sitcom.
In the world of television, there exists an elusive and uncommonly used tactic that draws viewers in
and makes a show golden. This tactic is rare, so rare that Seinfeld obviously has not heard of it. This
tactic? A plotline. Seinfeld is dubbed the show about nothing because this is exactly what viewers get
out of watching it: nothing. No moral lesson, no ethical value, no storyline. Just four characters acting

In the Seinfeld universe, a hospital is a place where a Junior Mint is ejected into the abdominal cavity
of an unsuspecting patient. While Friends uses a devastating fire to show Rachel and Phoebe
becoming closer as roommates, Seinfeld uses a fire to show George actively pushing children out of

The Big Data
Imagine being in a room with 10 people talking to you. Would you be able to understand the
conversations? It would be hard to concentrate on any one person s conversation, but you could
probably do it. Now, imagine being at the Superdome with 70,000 people talking to you. Would you
be able to understand any of the conversations? You probably could not understand any one person for
a length of time, but again you might pick out some of the words. Well, what if the scenario was 7
billion people speaking 6 thousand languages at an auctioneer s pace on the topic of their personal
family lineage; would you be able to create someone s whole family tree? This is the type of scenario
that represents the different facets of Big Data. What does it mean to say big data ? Big Data is more
than just massive amounts of data stored together. It is more than just data delivered or analyzed fast.
Meta Group s Doug Laney described it as data that has volume, velocity, and variety (2001). This is
the 3 V s of Big Data and is widely used to define it. Additions to this definition include other V s,
such as veracity and value (XXX). What is volume? Volume could be 7 billion people speaking at
once. It can be the data created by millions of Americans uploading photos, buying shoes online, or
searching for the definition of Big Data. It is the volume of data being created by researchers at
unprecedented amounts to chart the stars, to map the human genome, or to trend
