Immanuel Kant The Gale
Following my first naГЇve encounter with Homer Winslow s The Gale, the painting I selected to
adopt over the course of the semester, it became time to analyze the work using the various
philosophers read in class in an attempt to uncover new thoughts or ideas regarding the appreciation
and examination of the artwork selected. The first of these philosophers happened to be Immanuel
Kant, the famous and influential German enlightenment thinker. Throughout his work The Critique
of Judgment, Kant tries (with elaborate and often confusing explanations) to describe his reasoning
regarding the types of contemplative judgments made by humans, and the innate differences
between them. Kant states, that in addition to a judgment of taste (the beautiful),

Jefferson And Sally Hemings Relationship
The 200 TV movie Sally Hemings: An American Scandal tells the story of the scandalous
relationship between Thoma Jefferson and his teenage slave Sally Hemings. Their relationship
began unexpectedly in Paris and grew quickly. Sally became accustomed to the life in Paris
where she was free. Jefferson treated her to many fine things and an education. Soon they had to
return to America. Their relationship becomes harder to maintain there and scandal begins to
erupt. The storyline of this movie focuses on Jefferson and Sally s relationship. Sally is sent to
accompany Jefferson s daughter Polly on her travels to Paris. In the movie Sally and Polly look to
be around the same age. IN real life, Polly was actually eight years old and Sally was 14 years old

It s easy for Jefferson to so Sally so much affection at this time because no one else is around.
Once they return to Monticello this changes. In the movie, their sexual relationship began in
Paris and Sally returns to Monticello pregnant. To some historians though it is unclear if their
sexual relationship began in Paris or After they arrived back home (Wikipedia). When Sally
gives birth to her child Jefferson does not claim it as his. All of the slaves on the farm knows he
is the father and it seems as though Martha does too, but doesn t accept it. Sally continues her
affair with Jefferson still working as his slave. She becomes pregnant again, but the child dies a
year later. Again Jefferson does not claim this child and it is even buried in the slave cemetery.
The reason Jefferson is so unwilling to claim these children is that not only is Sally a slave, but
it goes against his public statements. In lecture 9 we learned that Jefferson publicly stated he didn
t condone intermixing races, so if he did claim the children it would go against what people
believed about him. Jefferson was a very selfish man and cared a lot about his political career. I

Essay On Gerrymandering
When looking at a map of the United States, it can be seen that it is very cut and dry. The borders
of states are straight, cut at right angles, and distributes the land proportionally. The same cannot be
seen or said for Congressional districts. The intention is to evenly divide up the States even further
but instead, it is based on the state populations. It can also be apparent that the drawing of the
districts in recent years has been less than about population numbers, but as to who the population
votes for. Representation including district boundaries is known as the practice of gerrymandering.
So in the process of setting districts, gerrymandering is a practice attempting to establish a political
advantage for a particular group.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was not until 1964 in the case of Reynolds vs Sims that found An individual s right to vote for
state legislators is unconstitutionally impaired when its weight is in a substantial fashion when
compared with votes of citizens living in other parts of the State (Reynolds v Sims), which
came as a result of discriminatory representation in the state of Alabama. This case however,
only outlines unlawful practice in a narrow fashion, not giving full width to the possible
practices. Districts can still be redrawn in ways that give one group a large advantage over their
competitors. It is described that Voters in seven states...have turned to such commissions in an
effort to reduce political gerrymandering, the map drawing method that leads to districts easily
won by Democrats or Republicans (Wolf). This is why we see districts drawn in such illogical
patterns that render the minority groups, most likely powerless. This can also allow the minority
group to unlikely win. Only when race seems to be the predominant factor in the apportionment,
do these redistribution schemes face any legal action, being at risk with the 14th Amendment. It is
very easily possible to give a win to a minority party because of these practices. In North Carolina,
where the two party House vote was fifty one percent Democratic, forty nine percent Republican,
the average simulated delegation was seven Democrats and

Diversity In Classroom Diversity
Within the core of many educational institutions, diversity is a commercial tacit. While every
institution cannot offer the same kind of diversity, the endorsement of such exists through various
definitions. The Western Association of Schools and Colleges define diversity through the various
classes: race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, disability, national origin, religion, sexual
orientation, and age ( Statement on Diversity ) Diversity within an educational institution is crucial
to developing well rounded individuals through discussions and interactions with individuals of a
different class. Applications of diversity towards an Honors community are even more crucial, as
the universal mission of an honors program is to invigorate its students to think at a higher caliber
than those outside of the program. With discussions of diversity, different perceptions, ideas, and
ways of thinking are promoted. Josh Packard, a Ph.D. holding sociology professor at the University
of Northern Colorado, finds that white students bring no substance to the classroom, as they only
discuss about the white ethnic groups. However, black students tend to discuss their experiences
and tie them into the academic content. In doing so, over a majority of white [students] specifically
referenced comments made by minority students in the classroom (150) when writing in their
reflection journals. This shows the profound impact that one comment by a black student can have

Symbolism In Young Goodman Brown By Nathaniel Hawthorne
The American writer, Mark Twain, wrote that, Every man is a moon and has a [dark] side which
he turns toward nobody; you have to slip around behind if you want to see it. His words explain
that there are flaws and faults that every person hides from others. In order to see it one has to
look for it by first plunging themselves into their own darkness before seeing that of others. This is
seen in Young Goodman Brown, by Nathaniel Hawthornein which a man travels away from his
wife with a mysterious companion into a dark forest for one night. The main character discovers
that the whole town has gathered together; from heads from churches to people he is close to, he
finds them in the forest worshipping sin, and his idea of a pure town of God worshipers is destroyed,
shocking the main character, leaving him to live in misery and distrust for years. In Nathaniel
Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown, the author uses literary elements such as symbolism,
characterization, and theme to develop romanticism in his text.
At the start of the story, the author uses symbols to cultivate the idea of religion and how it
intertwines with sinful acts, ultimately leading to the misery and mistrust of Goodman Brown.
Beginning with the main character s wife, the author uses her to symbolize the faith of Goodman
Brown. The narrator explains that Goodman Brown is leaving his wife (named Faith) for one
night to journey into the dark forest (25). His wife embodies the idea of religion and his

Professional Athletes Paid
Have you ever thought that a professional athlete gets paid too much money? Professional
athletes pay is important because there are other jobs that have a bigger impact on the economy
than these athletes. When compared to salary for soldiers or teachers, professional athletes are
overpaid in spite of the fact that they can negatively influence our youth. The first problem is that
the youth look up to these athletes and they like to mock their behaviors. Today in our economy,
professional athletes have a huge impact on our youth. The actions that are performed by these
players are closely examined by young kids across the world (Foothill.) Kids love the fact that just

On average an athlete makes five million dollars a year (Crite.) That s a lot of money, but what
do they for that money that benefits the community? Teachers on average are only making fifty
five thousand dollars a year (Education.) Teachers and professional athletes are paid in different
ways. A teachers is paid by tax money collected from taxpayers (KeithLee.) Which this is
understandable since they are teaching our youth. An athlete are paid by contracts from sponsors
(KeithLee.) There isn t any reason why teachers should be getting less money than professional
athletes. The country is paying teachers just enough just to keep them around (National.) Which
that seems like they think teachers are unworthy of a higher salary. When compared to salary for
soldiers or teachers, professional athletes are overpaid in spite of the fact that they can negatively
influence our youth. So, professional athletes get paid too much. For the little they do for the
economy and as much as what soldiers and teachers do, they deserve a higher salary. The youth
also is not benefited by them, but they are benefited from these soldiers and teachers. If we don t

Abortion Ethical Issue
Abortions have been an issue in this country for many years. Some people agree That abortion
should be illegal while others disagree and say that abortions should be legal. The three branches of
government have been called upon to address the issue.
There are many issues that pertain to abortion that must be resolved by the legislative branch of
the federal government. The members of Congress are obligated to support the will of the people
they represent and if those people are supportive of the practice of abortion as an after the act form
of birth control then so will the members of Congress be. The greatest issue may be the relationship
between law and morality and science and politics. One politician stated campaigning for abortion

Congress has made not a single law making abortion a legal practice in the country. President
Obama issues executive orders, that state that federal funds cannot be used to supplement
abortions or clinics that perform abortions. The President nominates Supreme Court justices that
rule on abortion cases and therefore the President potentially has more power to influence
abortion decisions. These chosen justices sit on the nation s highest court and actually decide
whether babies will live or die. President Obama stated Those of us who support a woman s
rights to decide to have an abortion and make intimate decisions about sex, sexuality, and
reproduction must also think and act strategically . A pro life Congress can propose all forms of
bills to defend women and babies, but unless both the house and senate have super pro life
plurality (290 seats in the House; 67 in the Senate), a pro abortion President can kill any legislation
with his veto pen. In 2013, President Barack Obama was the first sitting president to press the issue
about abortion. Obama stated planned parenthood is not going anywhere . President Obama talked
about Planned Parenthood to thousands of supporters.
In conclusion, we see that the discussion of abortion rights has been ongoing for decades with the
consensus of the three branches of government being that a woman should have a right to choose
whether to have a baby or not. Even though individual states have passed legislation either for or
against abortions, the final word has rested with the judicial and executive branches. The Supreme
Court ruled in Roe v. Wadethat a woman should have the right to choose. The executive branch
concurs with this ruling as long as federal monies are not

Character Analysis Of Assef In The Kite Runnerf
The character of Assef is presented as a vile and heartless boy. He is disrespectful, a bully, a
racist and a rapist. Amir recalls seeing his eyes glinted with a light not entirely sane . He is also
referred to as a sociopath by Amir. Assef throughout the book commits horrific acts that are
unjustified most of the time or are as a result of someone questioning his beliefs which are
controversial.
Assef is presented initially as a sociopathic bully who seeks dominance over people, resorting to
using his famous stainless steel brass knuckles . Assef is incredibly violent if his rule is
challenged and used his knuckles to beat a boy unconscious and he grinned whilst doing so. This
shows not only his sociopathic tendencies but also his violent side which is prevalent throughout
the book. His quest for dominance leads him to do the unthinkable when he is challenged by
Hassan, a Hazara and forced to flee. Assef seeks revenge on Hassan later on in the book after the
kite fight. This is not only because of his authority being brought into question by someone much
smaller and weaker than him, but also and extension of Assef s hatred of Hazaras. This side of
Assef is hidden from the adults of Afghanistan, especially Baba because of his links to Hassan.
Racism is a massive part of Assef s character. He is not only extremely racist to Hazaras but also
plainly states his admiration for Hitler. There are many instances of Assef s persecution of Hazaras
but the main targets of

The Outsiders Class Conflict Analysis
S.E. Hinton, the author of The Outsiders, wished to emphasize a certain concept or idea in the
book. Many important concepts were discussed, such as loyalty and the search for personal
identity. The most important concept in the The Outsiders was the concept of class conflict.
Class conflict is the conflict between two or more classes, in this case the Greasers and Socials,
in a community. This conflict was going on because the Socials, or Socs, were rich and lived on
the West Side of town. On the other hand, the Greasers lived on the East Side of the town, and
were mostly poor. The public perceived them in different ways, which fed this class conflict. The
Greasers and the Socials were not natural enemies. The main problem was the way

Aristotle s Six Elements Of Drama Essay
In the popular sitcom TV series Friends (1994 2010), has displayed all of Aristotle s six important
elements throughout the show that were required for the drama. The main plot of the show is
revolving around six best friends living together in Manhattan, and following up with their
everyday personal and professional lives. Throughout the show, all six elements of drama are being
taken place in the modern series showing that regardless of small changes here and there, there are
still connections back to Aristotle s view.
Aristotle s first element is Plot which requires to have the whole, complete, and magnitude. In
the first episode of season 1: The One Where Monica Gets a Roommate, the storyline starts out
with Monica meeting her old high school best friend Rachel. And since Rachel was having some
personal life problems, she ends up moving in with Monica and stays as her best friend till the
end of the show. The whole of the show is Monica and Rachel s relationship from the beginning
till the end has stayed the same. Although eventually Rachel had to move out of Monica s
apartment, their friendship still continued on and is considered to be stronger compared to the
beginning of their meeting. The complete which is also known as the unity of action was
displayed because when the two girls were having problems, both were able to solve and help out
each other. They were able to put each other as their main priority and showing each other the
attention they need. And the magnitude is absolutely present because although it was quite abrupt
with Rachel is moving in with Monica, but as the story went on. Everything was relevant to all the
other characters: Chandler, Joey, Ross, and Phoebe. Which show the whole purpose of the show,
friends are meant to stay together till the end, even though they all had problems with one another
at one certain point, but were still able to move past and have a stronger, inseparable bond
throughout the whole sitcom series.
The second element is Character and each of the characters have displayed moral goodness, true to
life, and had a consistent appearance throughout the show. The first character is Monica Geller, who
is known to be the mom of the group. She has always provided

Misconceptions Of NASA
One of the biggest misconceptions of NASA is the idea of a homogeneous organization. NASA is,
in fact, a conglomeration of different groups with various aims. Sometimes these groups can be at
odds with each other over various organizational resources. The nature of space operations split
these groups within NASAinto two general categories: the Human Destiny camp with human
spaceflight and colonization of space as the ultimate goal and the Science in Space camp focused
on using robotic spaceflight to perform space science.
Spaceflight has a difficulty holding public attention, but robotic spaceflight has a much more

Factors That Influence Human Resource Management
UNIT 7 RESEARCH PAPER
The Factors that Influence Worker Motivation that are Under Manager s Control
Why compliance with Human Resource law is an important part of doing Business?
Define Human Resource Management
PROBLEM
What are the Factors that Influence a Worker s Motivation that can be Controlled by the Manager.
ANSWER
There are factors that exist in a company that can be controlled by the manager that directly affect
the level of motivation of the employees either negatively or positively.
1. Four Factors of Motivation Brian Tracy
According to Brian Tracy, there are Four main factors that managers can do to motivate anyone, in
any organization.
Leadership style. This is a key factor in determining how people feel about the company and how
motivated they are. The appropriate leadership style depends on the goals and objectives of the
organization, the people within the company, and the external environment.
The Reward system. If you want more of something in an organization, simply increase greater
rewards for that behavior. If you want less of an activity in an organization, simply reduce the
rewards, or increase the punishment or disapproval for that behavior. People respond to incentives.
Organizational climate. Is your company a great place to work ? The organizational climate is
deliberately created and maintained by management. It largely consists of the way that people treat
each other up and down the line. It starts at the top, with leaders who inspire and set the tone for the
rest of the organization.
The structure of the work. Some work is inherently motivational, requiring creativity, imagination,
and high levels of energy. Work that involves communicating, negotiating, and interacting with
other people in order to gain their cooperation to get the job done quickly and well brings out the
best energies of the individual.
2. Servant Leadership Theory: Development of the Servant Leadership Assessment Instrument R.
Dennis, L. Kinzler Norheim M. Bocarnea
R. Dennis, L. Kinzler Norheim M. Bocarnea in Servant Leadership Theory: Development of the

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Plate Fin Heat Exchanger
b) Counter Flow
In a counter flow heat exchanger the two fluids flow parallel to each other but in opposite
directions. The counter flow heat exchanger provides the most thermally effective arrangement for
recovery of heat or cold from process streams. A counter flow arrangement is thermodynamically
superior to any other flow arrangement. It is the most efficient flow arrangement, producing the
highest temperature change in each fluid compared to any other two fluid arrangement for a given
overall thermal conductance (UA), fluid flow rates and fluid inlet temperatures. Cryogenic
refrigeration and liquefaction equipment use this geometry almost exclusively. But this type of heat

b)Difficulty in cleaning of passages, which limits its application to clean and relatively non
corrosive fluids.
c)Difficulty of repair in case of failure or leakage between passages.
1.6 Applications The plate fin heat exchanger is suitable for use over a wide range of temperatures
and pressures for gas gas, gas liquid and multi phase duties. They are used in a variety of
applications. They are mainly employed in the field of cryogenics for cryogenic separation and
liquefaction of air, natural gas processing and liquefaction, production of petrochemicals and large
refrigeration systems. The exchangers that are used for cryogenic air separation and LPG
fractionation are the largest and most complex units of the plate fin type and a single unit could be
of several meters in length. Brazed aluminum plate fin exchangers are widely used in the aerospace
industries because of their low weight to volume ratio and compactness. They are being used
mainly in environment control system of the aircraft, avionics and hydraulic oil cooling and fuel
heating. Making heat exchangers as compact as possible has been an everlasting demand in
automobile and air conditioning industries as both are space conscious. In the automobile sector
they are used for making the radiators. The other miscellaneous applications

The As A Form Of Influence On European Art
In nineteenth century Europe, exoticism grew in popularity as a form of influence on European art.
Renown art historian Enrico Crispolti defines exoticism as the imitation of elements in alien
cultures that differ from native traditions. Exoticism carries its own spectrum of interpretation, in
that certain works of art can fall under or between two main categories: pure exoticism and
transcultural composing. Through the use of non Western elements in Western music
, exoticism
seeks to evoke a group perceived as different, often by othering said group. Ralph P. Locke,
former professor of musicology at Eastman School of Music, views pure exoticism as a form of
exoticism with the purpose of representing an exotic subject as different from what is considered
acceptable or appropriate. Transcultural composing focuses on a hybrid of Western and non
Western styles, and is intended to pay a tribute to the music. There is no clear cut definition of
musical exoticism, but rather a window open to varied interpretations and opinions. Renowned for
his operas, English composer Benjamin Brittenwrote Death in Venice which uses non Western
elements to represent something as other within the character of the protagonist, Aschenbach. On
the spectrum of exoticism, Britten s Death in Venice falls under the category of transcultural
composing due to Britten s respectful use and understanding of gamelanstyle music. Claude
Debussy, one of the most influential French composers of the

In William Goldings Lord of the Flies the boy s human nature shifts into savagery without a
civilization to keep them in order. The first character to start the slow descent into savagery is
Ralph who because of his continual battle for power with Jack, uses violence to settle disputes,
contributes to the killing of Simon, and emulates a wild animal to survive. Roger who rejects the
idea of civilization from the start instills fear in younger tribe members, kills Piggy, and plans the

Why Is Cursive Writing Obsolete
I believe cursive writing is obsolete because I never learned how to write in cursive nor have I
ever needed to. As said in the first argument Cursive is a common teaching tool for students with
dyslexia, a reading disorder. this is true because you can t mix up letters in cursive. I think that
cursiveshouldnt be a required thing to learn in school, but should always be available if needed.
Most high schools and colleges expect you to turn in typed, rather than handwritten, papers. The
survey took in 2012 given to handwriting teachers, only 37% of them wrote cursive.
First, I believe that cursive writing should not be required but should be available for those who
want or need to learn it. If a student with dyslexia or any other brain disorder was to ask to learn
cursive so that they had less touble with there disorder than it should be available for them. Even
just a student such as myself. I have never learned to write cursive, none of my teachers thought it
was important, but if there is someone who want to learn to write in cursive it should also be

Obesity Is A Preventable Factor Among Americans And Obesity
Obesity is becoming an epidemic all around the nation and is now officially considered a disease.
The purpose of this study is to prove that obesity is a preventable factor among Americans and
obesity should be considered the cause to a vast amount of different diseases, but not a disease by
itself. This topic is significantly vital to the American society because obesity can decrease life
expectancy and increase the number of deaths rates that occur in the United States.
Among many other cons, declaring obesity as a disease is not only classifying a majority of the
population ill and worsening the epidemic, but letting people believe that making poor health
decisions and overindulging is permissible. People could begin reducing their healthy habits and
exercise planning. Also, classifying obesity as a disease is entitling the federal affiliations to pay
for weight loss programs for people who just need to know when to stop eating excessively.
The American Medical Association has classified obesity a disease, defining obesity as having a
Body Mass Index (BMI) measure above 30 (AMA). They also stated that, disease occurs when the
body cannot accept the challenge of the environment and begins to malfunction (AMA). The
Webster dictionary defines obesity as a disease declaring, an impairment of the normal state that
modifies the performance of the vital functions, and is a response to environmental factors (Webster
Dictionary).

The characteristics include the use of irony, playfulness, metafiction, and black humour. It is the
term used to suggest a reaction or response to modernism in the late twentieth century. So
postmodernism can only be understood in relation to Modernism. Postmodernism describes both an
era and a broad movement that developed in the late 20th century across philosophy, the arts,
architecture and criticism which marked a departure from modernism. At its core, Postmodernism
rejects that which Modernism champions. While postmodernism seems very much like modernism
in many ways, it differs from modernism in its attitude toward a lot of these trends. Modernism, for
example, tends to present a fragmented view of human subjectivity and history, but presents that
fragmentation as something tragic, something to be lamented and mourned as a loss.
Postmodernism, in contrast, doesn t lament the idea of fragmentation, but rather celebrates it. In
literature, it used to describe certain characteristics of post World War II literature, for example, on

Joy Luck Club Mother Daughter Relationships
The mother daughter relationships represented in Amy Tan s novel The Joy Luck Club are
influenced by many existing factors. Lena St. Clair, Ying Ying St. Clair s daughter, is a Chinese
American adult who lives with her forceful husband, Harold. Ying Ying is a Chinese mother who
travelled to America to live a better life after experiencing many hardships in China. Throughout the
novel, the relationship between Lena and Ying Ying is represented as weak and distant. These
characters are prevented from having a healthy relationship because they do not support each other,
they possess similar characteristics, and they are strong. The weak and distant mother daughter
relationship is formed by many factors, including lack of support. The lack of... Show more content

After Ying Ying narrates her life story, which was filled with mostly pain and sorrow, she states,
I will gather together my past and look. I will see a thing that has already happened. The pain
that cut my spirit loose. I will hold that pain in my hand until it becomes hard and shiny, more
clear (252). Ying Ying wishes to gather together my past and look, indicating that she will not
look down upon and regret her past but only look back and reflect on her past. Ying Ying
understands that these events caused pain which cut my spirit loose ; She is referring to her
strong and fierce spirit which makes her feel as if she is living again. She wishes to hold the
pain, rather than toss it away and ignore it. She wants to study this pain as it turns hard, and shiny,
more clear, meaning that she wants to study it until it becomes understandable. Ying Ying also
states, I will use this sharp pain to penetrate my daughter s tough skin and cut her spirit loose. She
will fight me, because this is the nature of two tigers (252). Ying Ying plans to take advantage of
the sharp pain which she experienced throughout her lifetime to metaphorically cut Lena s tiger
spirit loose, which is also known as a strong, fierce, and fighter spirit. Her tough skin will be hard to
penetrate because she is resistant and headstrong, but this only motivates Ying Ying because

How Did The Maccabees Influence The Jewish
The Jews shifted their allegiance to Alexander and in return Alexander allowed the Jews to
observe their own laws, gave them exemption from tribute tax during the Sabbath years.
Alexander also encouraged the Jewish people to live in Alexandria, Egypt and gave them
privileges reserved for his own Greek people. When Alexander died in 323 B. C., some of his
generals divided the empire among themselves: The Ptolemies of Egypt, the Seleucids of Persia and
parts of Asia Minor, and the Antigonids of Macedon. (Intertestamental Period New Testament
Background, 2001).
At first, the Egyptian Ptolemaic Empire controlled the Jews from 320 198 B. C., and then Seleucid
(Syrian) Empire, around 198 B. C., acquired control over the Jewish populace. While the
Ptolemaic Empire was tolerant of the Jewish culture and religion, the Seleucid Empire was not.
The Seleucids made determined efforts to force Hellenism on the Jews. Some accepted it, but most
did not (Halley, 2000). The Greek Seleucid, Antiochus, severely punished the unaccepting Jews
which eventually provoked the Maccabees (Hasmonean Era) to revolt. By 164 B. C., the
Maccabees controlled the area around Jerusalem and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows how engrained the Hellenistic culture was and perhaps how it influenced the Apostle

cultures are residing side by side and a certain amount of melding is expected to take place. While
this is true about language, societal practices such as commerce, schooling and language occurring,

Characteristics Of Montana Bats
Montana wants to keep its healthy population of bats. They are helpful to have around. Just one
little brown bat, one of the most common bats in Montana, can eat 1,200 nocturnal insects an hour.
Think of the mosquitoes that could be managed by a healthy population of bats. They also help
control beetles, leafhoppers, fleas and moths.
Montana has 15 known species of bats. Some of the bats are migratory bats. One of interesting
things about the bats and migration in Montana is that some bats migrate to stay and winter and
others migrate from the winter. Montana has bats coming and going.

##yrgopolinices Vanity In The Braggart Soldier, By Plautus
In the play The Braggart Soldier, by Plautus, comedic techniques are seen throughout the acts. After
the fall of Athens, the time when this play was written, making fun of human flaws such as vanity
was used as a form of comedy. This is shown most through the character of Pyrgopolynices, who
constantly recounts his accomplishments in battle in both war and love. Some comedic techniques
the audience sees in the play also used in modern day televisioninclude comedic hyperboles and
violence. These techniques are similar to today s reality televisionshows, which tend to be modern
day comedies. Pyrgopolinices vanity is used as a technique of comedyin the play. In the first act, he
brags about conquering an elephant with one arm as well as his good luck with attracting many
women. The audience can see this clearly throughout the play. He is even tricked into thinking
that he is handsome enough to steal his neighbor s wife. In modern day, we see vanity used as
comedy often in reality television. A prime example can be of the reality star Scott Disick in
Keeping Up with the Kardashians. He is known to be conceded and full of himself like
Pyropolinices, thinking his charming looks attracts all women. He also refers to himself as Lord
Disick showing that he thinks he is above all other males. Pyrgopolinices compares himself to be
higher than the gods. Vanity is still used as comedic technique in characters in modern day
television. Comedic hyperbole is a technique used

The Impact Of Fast Fashion On Business Environment
Introduction
The continually increasing globalization in the world has linked many countries together and the
borders have become inconspicuous. Many firms cooperate in a global market, which leads to an
increased amount of transnational corporations acting in a global surrounding (Douglas Wind,
1987). In the fashion industry, the business environment is especially competitive and firms have
to adjust their business practices rapidly such as products and launching time of each collection on
the basis of the demand of current market (Lowson, King Hunter, 1999). Companies in the fashion
industry like ZARA, Topshop and H M have emerged a new trend fast fashion that combines two
main characteristics: short lead times and trendy design products (Passariello,2008 ; Rohwedder
Johnson, 2008). However, fast fashion leaves behind some issues, which are not beneficial to
environmental protection and human costs. In fast fashion industries, it requires companies to
complete missions in a short time, some fast fashion companies use unethical acts in order to
complete producing on time which may result in environmental issue and appears unfair labour
practices. In addition, Luz (2007) pointed out that globalization provided fast fashion industries a
chance to produce clothes at lower prices so that they can sell clothes with a cheaper price. This
result in many customers considers fast fashion clothes to be disposable. Therefore, this essay will
first explain what is fast

Intrinsic And Extrinsic Aging
In the past 100 year the human race has seen a progressive increase in life expectancy. However,
these gains have not been seen equally across different regions, genders, and socioeconomic classes.
Various cofactors impact the quality and quantity of life for individuals. Interactions between both
intrinsic and extrinsic agingcontribute to variations in lifespan seen between people. The idea
that we are in control of how we age is comforting and troublesome as the level of control is often
varied. Numerous health promoting behaviors have been strongly associated with reduced age
related health concerns and a higher quality of life. Refraining from smoking, active lifestyle
choices, and frequent social participation all have health promoting tendencies, traits like these
could be considered highly available with few barriers to achieving their benefits. Meaning
everyone should be able to improve there projected aging by engaging in such traits. However,
not all factors are equally accessible education, gender, stress, diet, geographic location, and
genes all greatly impact the course of aging. With most of those factors determined at birth or
early life decision the consequences they have on aging is often not seen as a choice. Financial
constraints can negatively impact diet and level of activity direct impacting BMI. This is a
growing concern in Canada with a doubling of 60 69 year olds classified as obese since 1981
(Canadian Health Measures Survey). A high BMI

Summary Of Frames Of Reference By Jeff Wall
Jeff Wall reviews his decades of practices as a photographer in his article Frames of Reference. In
his prose, Wall explains how he learnt from multiple forms of art and apply essential ideas
embedded in these various forms to his work of photography. He characterizes two elements in his
work, the large and the representation of the nature and existence, which he extracts from the
criteria of Western paintingand utilize in his photograpic works. To analyze the purpose of Wall s
approach, it is vital to know how his understanding of photography works and practices developed
through his career.
Wall aims to test the nuance of photography works and enlarge the boundary of photography by
applying different concept of other art forms to it. Wall wants to make photography with qualities
in other art forms that held valuable indications for aspects of photographic making. It is crucial
that this combination of concepts and idea in Wall s works is different from the practice of photo
collage. The documentary tradition of photography makes photography distinct from other art
forms. Wall refutes the approach of blending ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Book of Joshua
To fully grasp and understand the book of Joshua, it is important to take a look at the historical and
cultural context, understand the literary context, evaluate the text, and find relevance in the passage.
The passage that will be focused on will be Joshua 10:16 27. This passage begins with five
Amorite Kings that are discovered and then trapped in a cave. The kings hide in a cave in
Makkedah. Joshua finds where the kings are hiding and then proceeds to give instructions regarding
what to do with the kings. They trap the kings in the cave. Joshua proceeds to tell his troops to
continue fighting. Joshua and the Israelites defeat their enemies; there are few survivors left and
the army returns to their leader, Joshua. Joshua then uses the defeat of the five kings as an object
lesson for his commanders. They open the cave, in which the Kings are trapped in, the kings are
than named and brought out to Joshua. Joshua summons the men of Israel and order to place
their feet on the King s neck. The commanders do so and Joshua tells his men, Do not be
discouraged. Be strong and courageous. This is what the LORD will do to all the enemies you
are going to fight (verse 25). The king s bodies are then exposed on poles and are left there until
evening. At sunset Joshua gave orders to take down the poles and throw them into the cave in
which the kings were hiding. They then placed large rocks in front of the cave to which are there
to do this day.

Granted, the idea of preparing your child early for life is not a foreign idea. Sometime in 18th
century, a famous musician that goes by the name Wolfgang Mozart received his musical
education at a ripe age of four. At the age of 5 he was presented as a child prodigy and performed
throughout Europe for his first musical tour. By age 6, Mozart was already performing for the
Austrian royals at the Hall of Mirrors. Come to think of it, he started composing, singing, and
playing for nobles before most kids started their education. It s undeniable that Mozart had the
talent, but he would not have known and exercised his genius without external guidance. Like

Thus, parental background might play a role in how likely the children will start their education
early. The education that children receive is very much correlated to the education that their parents
received when they were children. Research shows that the literacy of their parents strongly affects
the education of their children. One reason for this is that parents who have gone beyond a high
school education are found to be more involved with their infants and children than those who did
not finish high school...many less educated parents simply have more unmanaged stress in their
lives, and this stress interferes with ability and opportunity to interact with their child (Paulsen et al.
2002). Typically, parents who have finished high school and gone on to receive additional schooling
understand the need to have a higher education and are more equipped to guide their children when
they go through school. And logically, that makes sense. The more time parents spend making
money, the less time they have helping their child s education. But while it could be reasoned that
early college preparation pertains more exclusively to students who have parents that undergone
higher education, it can t be the only reason for correlation does not mean causation. Parents that
spend little with their children can still hire tutors and college counselors to do the work for

How the Apple iCloud Works
Cloud storage is a growing tech trend. Making use of cloud computing technology, cloud storage
services give you password protected access to online storage space. You can upload files to this
storage space as a backup copy of content from your hard drive, as additional space to supplement
your hard drive, or just to make those files available online from other computers or mobile devices.
Apple s cloud storage product, iCloud, is designed to work seamlessly with all your Apple devices
connected to the Internet. For example, you can upload photos from your iPhone and access them
from your MacBook, upload music from your MacBook to listen to from your iPod Touch, or upload

described at the Apple developer site.
Besides its options for apps to connect to and use the service, iCloud features unlimited free
storage for anything you purchase through the iTunes Store. This means that any music, movies,
TV shows, books or apps you purchase from iTunes don t count against your free 5 GB of iCloud
storage space. In addition, each iTunes purchase is instantly available for download to any of
your iCloud authorized devices, as long as the songs are available from the iTunes store. In short,
buy it once, access it everywhere. This even applies to purchases you made under the same Apple
ID long before iCloud existed, provided they re still available in the iTunes Store.
It s possible that 5 GB is plenty for your storing your non iTunes files in iCloud, such as
documents and photos. However, Apple also realizes that you might want more space, and you
can purchase subscription based upgrades to fill that need. As of this writing, Apple is offering the
following subscription options for increasing your iCloud storage space: * 10 GB more (15 GB

Endothtermic And Exothermic Reaction Lab Report
Introduction:
Chemical reactions make new things by rearranging other things. In a chemical reaction, the main
change that occurs relates to the way atoms are bonded to each other, in order to change those
connections, bonds must be broken and new bonds be formed.
It s important to understand that it takes energy to break bonds and that energy is released when
bonds are formed.
Chemical reactions that release energy are called exothermic reactions, these reactions are observed
by an increase in temperature of the reaction mixture.
Chemical reactions that absorb energy are called endothermic reactions, these reactions are
observed by a decrease in temperature of the reaction mixture.
Endothermic and Exothermic reactions release or absorb energy, the graph above shows the way in
which the chemical energy changes.
In this experiment, we investigate the change in temperature caused by adding a chemical substance
into the water and dissolving it. The results recorded in the table below show that our hypothesis is
correct.
Aim:
To investigate temperature changes that occur as a result of exothermic and endothermic reactions.
Hypothesis:
It s predicted that when adding the chemical substance into the water, energy will be released or
absorbed, this will be observed by a temperature change, therefore, there would be an exothermic or
endothermic reaction.

Tequila was actually first known as Mezcal wine but in order to distinguish between the different
Mezcal wines in south mexico, it was named tequila because this particular wine came from
Tequila, Jalisco. This regional Mezcal wine known as tequila was made from the Blue Agave Plant

in the highlands of Los Altos. Shortly after tequila became its official name, Mexicobegan mass

It starts with the trimming of quiotes, or stalks, from the center of the plant then the leaves from
the piГ±a (the succulent core of the plant) are cut away. After being harvested, the leaves are
slowly baked to turn the fructans into fructose. Then those leaves are either shredded or mashed
under a large stone wheel and the extracted agave juice is then poured into large wooden or
stainless steel vats for several days to ferment, producing what is called a wort, or mosto, with
low alcohol content. Then it can be distilled twice; the first time it is distilled it produces what is
called ordinario, and the second time produces a clear silver tequila. The silver tequila can be
bottled right away or pumped into wooden barrels to age and develop a more mellow flavor and
amber color. The flavor of the tequila will either be sweeter and fruitier tasting or earthy
depending on if the leaves were harvested from the highlands or lowlands, respectively. The

Sir Edmund Hillary And Tenzing Norgay
How can humans impact the world around them? This may seem hard to answer, but people are
already impacting Mount Everest, and not in a positive way. People that choose to climb Mount
Everest are causing many problems. They drop off items all around the mountain, and even
compete with previous records. These can result with either a venue of pollution or even death. This
can change Mount Everest, by turning it from a place of enjoyment into a place of destruction.
To begin, people love to complete missions, but their drive to do so can result in death. The text
authenticates, On May 29, 1953, Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay became the first people
known to reach the summit of Mount Everest, the world s highest mountain. In doing so, the men
set a precedent that many climbers spend their lives trying to reproduce...Before Hillary and
Norgay s historic accomplishment, many climbers had tried to reach Mount Everest s summit but
failed. In some cases, climbers even died trying, (Source #1, paragraphs 1 and 3). This justifies that
many people are attempting to overtake the record of Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay.
Accordingly, the climbers are very competitive, and this causes many injuries towards others or
themselves while trying. The antagonistic behavior can also cause many deaths. The text also

though never to the summit. Norgay was a Sherpa, one of the mountain

Avoiding Probate In New Jersey
The process of dividing and distributing a person s assets after death, called probate, can be time
consuming and expensive. In order to avoid probate and save their families the hassle of hiring
attorneys and waiting months to receive the gifts mentioned in a will, many people structure their
estates in a way that circumvents the probate court system. In New Jersey, an experienced estate
planning attorney can draft documents which transfer ownership of real estate, bank accounts, or
other property immediately after a person s death without the added inconvenience of going to
court. However, these types of transfers only work if property is title correctly and the estate plan
is updated frequently. Avoiding Probate During probate court proceedings,

When two people own property together as joint tenants, there is a right of survivorship after
death. For example, if a father and daughter purchased a car together, both would each own a one
half interest in the car and would each have the right to use the vehicle during their lifetimes. After
one person dies, their one half interest automatically transfers to the other person, without needing
to go through the probate court. Joint tenancy can be used for nearly every type of property,
including real estate, bank accounts, and general personal property. In New Jersey, married
couples who own property in joint tenancy are said to take the property as tenants by the entirety.
Both joint tenancy and tenancy by the entirety work in exactly the same way to avoid probate.
There are several drawbacks to joint tenancy which may be a cause for concern. First, joint tenancy
allows each owner equal rights to use the property. For example, if two people owned a bank
account in joint tenancy, there is nothing which would prevent one owner from emptying the
account before the other s death. In addition, joint tenancy would not prevent an estate from going
to probate if both joint tenants died simultaneously, like in a car crash or other accident. Living

Financial Advertising in India
INSURANCE SECTOR
ADVERTISING
Insurance ads in india have come a long way in the last three decades. Be it television
commercials, print ads, or bill boards. The change is remarkably noticeable. Earlier most of the
advertising in this sector tended to play crudely on our consistent fear of the future and the
unknown. A case in point being the television advertisement of firms like United India Assurance,
National Insurance and Oriental Insurance. All the aforementioned companies provided insurance
policies for contingencies like fire, robbery and natural disasters. Television commercials of that
time tended to be rawly cooked scripts put together in the doors of hard sell copy. All of them

One aspect that remained constant throughout were the seasonal ads spread across all major
Indian festivals. The overall image that SBI has managed to retain is that of a surly wisecrack
devoid of a human face. Specific regions meant ads in the local language or dialect even though
the sensibilities of the visual would be more or less pan Indian. Accordingly the advertising was
pretty much stagnant upto the mid 90 s when banks all over the world suddenly started touting
their wider array of services. The creatives were often compromised in order to make for a
greater resonance with the local sensibilities involved. Regionally affiliated branches of the bank
like State Bank of Patiala, State Bank of Maharashtra, State Bank of Indore etc sparsely took out
any ads of their own and even the ones released were very diminutive.
The upheaval started around the mid 90 s when State Bank of India started come out with a
spate of well thought and visually compact ads. One of them, for instance had a picture of a stick
shielding a golden egg from being crushed by a brick with the tagline Before You attached to it.
The message was stark and well crafted. This was followed by a phase where State Bank of India
started to advertise its wide range of services across the country.
The positional leverage of the Surprisingly SBI campaign was the fact that the bank had singularly

How To Write An Essay About Musical Theatre
Lights...Curtain...Act I Anyone who has seen a musical theatre production has seen the world
through new eyes. They have most likely oohed and aahed at the scenery, the bright lights, the
simple, yet effective costumes, and of course, the talent of the performers. The way the actors
melodic voices carry out over the crowd, the way the choreography emanates their emotions,
pouring heart and soul into their role. An audience member at a musical theatreproduction is
whisked away into an alternate universe, where troubles melt like lemon drops (Harburg) and
where anything can happen (Sherman). The troubles of the world fade away, if only for those few
hours. To create this alternate universe, metaphorically speaking, is not a simple task, however.
Multiple components go into producing a musical, including music, characters, and dialogue. Many
people enjoy watching musical theatre, but do they really know how the magic happens? Musical
theatre is a genre of drama in which singing and dancing play an essential part. The word musical
originates from the Latin root, musica , of or related to music. The word theatre originally comes
from the Greek word theasthai, which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An ensemble is a group of extra characters who mostly participate in the big musical numbers of
the show with energetic singing and dancing. Most plays (without music) have few characters,
who play main roles and seldom require an ensemble. In musical theatre, however, an ensemble
is used to support the main characters and add to the overall effect of the show. There is power
in numbers, power in a song sung by thirty voices instead of one, power in a synchronized dance
routine performed by forty dancers instead of one. Having the backup support from the ensemble
also releases some stress from the actors playing the lead roles as well. If the ensemble has no
energy, the entire show loses energy and

Dream on by Aerosmith connects to Santiago and his recurring dream in the beginning of the
story starting on Page 6. Santiago deals with a recurring dream and he does not understand why
he is having it. This dream occurs every time Santiago sleeps under a sycamore tree that grows out
of the ruins of a church. In this dream a child tells Santiago to go after a treasure located by the
Egyptian pyramids. Santiago is confused by the message of the dream and goes to a gypsy woman
to try and understand the dream. She says that he should go to Egyptin pursuit of the treasure. This
leads to Santiago meeting a magical man who turns out to be the King of Salem. He says that
going to Egypt is Santiago s personal legend and he should set off for his journey tomorrow. This
journey leads to Santiago arriving in Tangier and a robber taking all of the money Santiago
brought in his journey towards the Egyptian pyramids. This leaves Santiago by himself as he
now has to find a way to push through adversity and get to his destination. Dream on is about
following your dreams and aspirations in life by following your journey. Dream until your

Michael Moore Capitailism a Love Story Review Essay
MOVIE REVIEW
CAPITALISM: A LOVE STORY
BY MICHAEL MOORE
Date:December 7, 2012 The film Capitalism: A Love Story is a documentary by Michael Moore
which outlines the negative effects capitalism has on modern society. Moore points out that
capitalism gives people the opportunity to make a lot of money and to have a high standard of
living. However, for many workers, making an income to support a family can be quite
impossible. At one time, you could find a secure job and live a good life, but capitalism has
evolved into a system of greed where only the rich get richer, and the middle class get poorer with
no chance to better themselves. This review will analyze the positive and negative impacts of
capitalism shown in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Detrimentally, many corporations have evolved negatively where the CEOs are only concerned
about filling their own personal pockets with increasing profits and not caring at all about the well
being of their employees. Michael Moore eagerly points out the negative impacts capitalism has on
society. Capitalism no longer provides people with the long term sustainability needed to support
themselves and their families. A good example of this is when Moore speaks out about his
hometown of Flint, Michigan, and the GM plant where most of the citizens worked. When the
automotive company shut down, the workers lost their jobs, and they had nowhere to turn for
money. Moore alluded the reason the plant shut down was for the CEOs benefit because they were
trying to make more profit, while not giving a second thought for the welfare of the people of
Flint. As a result, many families lost their homes, and Flint became an abandoned city.
Capitalism does not care about the average person because it is a system where corporations
compete for higher profits and more benefits for the rich CEOs. If the GM plant in Flint was
planning to close, and there was any regard for its employees, why was there no effort made to
retrain employees with skills needed for other jobs so that they could continue to support their
families and debts? In fact, CEOs of large corporations lobby and influence government policies to
permit special tax cuts and

Comparing The Phantom Of The Opera, Wicked, And Hamilton
Just as we continue to forget that immigrants are the backbone of the country, we forget that
musical theater is a mongrel art form was once spoken in the words of Lin Manuel Miranda,
musical mastermind behind the hit broadway show Hamilton. The Phantom of the Opera,
Wicked, and Hamilton all prove that the arts are an essential aspect in American culture and
history. To start off, The Phantom of the Opera, musically composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber,
arrived in Broadway in 1988 and preformed on the stage of the Majestic Theatre. The Phantom of
the Opera tells a the story of young Christine Daae who takes center stage as leading soprano. The
opera s supposed phantom cuts the rope, which connects the stage lights, causing the old lead
singer to quit after nearly being killed by falling lights. Christine claims to have had lessons from
an angle of music that her late father had promised. Unknown, the angle is the supposed phantom.
The phantom is just a man named Erik who... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. Immanuel Kant The Gale Following my first naГЇve encounter with Homer Winslow s The Gale, the painting I selected to adopt over the course of the semester, it became time to analyze the work using the various philosophers read in class in an attempt to uncover new thoughts or ideas regarding the appreciation and examination of the artwork selected. The first of these philosophers happened to be Immanuel Kant, the famous and influential German enlightenment thinker. Throughout his work The Critique of Judgment, Kant tries (with elaborate and often confusing explanations) to describe his reasoning regarding the types of contemplative judgments made by humans, and the innate differences between them. Kant states, that in addition to a judgment of taste (the beautiful), ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Soon they had to return to America. Their relationship becomes harder to maintain there and scandal begins to erupt. The storyline of this movie focuses on Jefferson and Sally s relationship. In the movie, their sexual relationship began in Paris and Sally returns to Monticello pregnant. When Sally gives birth to her child Jefferson does not claim it as his. All of the slaves on the farm knows he is the father and it seems as though Martha does too, but doesn t accept it. Sally continues her affair with Jefferson still working as his slave. She becomes pregnant again, but the child dies a year later. Again Jefferson does not claim this child and it is even buried in the slave cemetery. The reason Jefferson is so unwilling to claim these children is that not only is Sally a slave, but it goes against his public statements. In lecture 9 we learned that Jefferson publicly stated he didn t condone intermixing races, so if he did claim the children it would go against what people believed about him. • 5. Essay On Gerrymandering When looking at a map of the United States, it can be seen that it is very cut and dry. The borders of states are straight, cut at right angles, and distributes the land proportionally. The same cannot be seen or said for Congressional districts. The intention is to evenly divide up the States even further but instead, it is based on the state populations. It can also be apparent that the drawing of the districts in recent years has been less than about population numbers, but as to who the population votes for. Representation including district boundaries is known as the practice of gerrymandering. So in the process of setting districts, gerrymandering is a practice attempting to establish a political advantage for a particular group.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was not until 1964 in the case of Reynolds vs Sims that found An individual s right to vote for state legislators is unconstitutionally impaired when its weight is in a substantial fashion when compared with votes of citizens living in other parts of the State (Reynolds v Sims), which came as a result of discriminatory representation in the state of Alabama. This case however, only outlines unlawful practice in a narrow fashion, not giving full width to the possible practices. Districts can still be redrawn in ways that give one group a large advantage over their competitors. It is described that Voters in seven states...have turned to such commissions in an effort to reduce political gerrymandering, the map drawing method that leads to districts easily won by Democrats or Republicans (Wolf). This is why we see districts drawn in such illogical patterns that render the minority groups, most likely powerless. This can also allow the minority group to unlikely win. Only when race seems to be the predominant factor in the apportionment, do these redistribution schemes face any legal action, being at risk with the 14th Amendment. It is very easily possible to give a win to a minority party because of these practices. In North Carolina, where the two party House vote was fifty one percent Democratic, forty nine percent Republican, the average simulated delegation was seven Democrats and ... • 6. Diversity In Classroom Diversity Within the core of many educational institutions, diversity is a commercial tacit. While every institution cannot offer the same kind of diversity, the endorsement of such exists through various definitions. The Western Association of Schools and Colleges define diversity through the various classes: race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, disability, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, and age ( Statement on Diversity ) Diversity within an educational institution is crucial to developing well rounded individuals through discussions and interactions with individuals of a different class. Applications of diversity towards an Honors community are even more crucial, as the universal mission of an honors program is to invigorate its students to think at a higher caliber than those outside of the program. With discussions of diversity, different perceptions, ideas, and ways of thinking are promoted. Josh Packard, a Ph.D. holding sociology professor at the University of Northern Colorado, finds that white students bring no substance to the classroom, as they only discuss about the white ethnic groups. However, black students tend to discuss their experiences and tie them into the academic content. In doing so, over a majority of white [students] specifically referenced comments made by minority students in the classroom (150) when writing in their reflection journals. • 7. Symbolism In Young Goodman Brown By Nathaniel Hawthorne The American writer, Mark Twain, wrote that, Every man is a moon and has a [dark] side which he turns toward nobody; you have to slip around behind if you want to see it. His words explain that there are flaws and faults that every person hides from others. In order to see it one has to look for it by first plunging themselves into their own darkness before seeing that of others. This is seen in Young Goodman Brown, by Nathaniel Hawthornein which a man travels away from his wife with a mysterious companion into a dark forest for one night. The main character discovers that the whole town has gathered together; from heads from churches to people he is close to, he finds them in the forest worshipping sin, and his idea of a pure town of God worshipers is destroyed, shocking the main character, leaving him to live in misery and distrust for years. In Nathaniel Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown, the author uses literary elements such as symbolism, characterization, and theme to develop romanticism in his text. At the start of the story, the author uses symbols to cultivate the idea of religion and how it intertwines with sinful acts, ultimately leading to the misery and mistrust of Goodman Brown. Beginning with the main character s wife, the author uses her to symbolize the faith of Goodman Brown. The narrator explains that Goodman Brown is leaving his wife (named Faith) for one night to journey into the dark forest (25). His wife embodies the idea of religion and his ... Amir recalls seeing his eyes glinted with a light not entirely sane . He is also referred to as a sociopath by Amir. Assef throughout the book commits horrific acts that are unjustified most of the time or are as a result of someone questioning his beliefs which are controversial. Assef is presented initially as a sociopathic bully who seeks dominance over people, resorting to using his famous stainless steel brass knuckles . Assef is incredibly violent if his rule is challenged and used his knuckles to beat a boy unconscious and he grinned whilst doing so. This shows not only his sociopathic tendencies but also his violent side which is prevalent throughout the book. His quest for dominance leads him to do the unthinkable when he is challenged by Hassan, a Hazara and forced to flee. Assef seeks revenge on Hassan later on in the book after the kite fight. This is not only because of his authority being brought into question by someone much smaller and weaker than him, but also and extension of Assef s hatred of Hazaras. This side of Assef is hidden from the adults of Afghanistan, especially Baba because of his links to Hassan. Racism is a massive part of Assef s character. This is a key factor in determining how people feel about the company and how motivated they are. The appropriate leadership style depends on the goals and objectives of the organization, the people within the company, and the external environment. The Reward system. • 17. The As A Form Of Influence On European Art In nineteenth century Europe, exoticism grew in popularity as a form of influence on European art. Renown art historian Enrico Crispolti defines exoticism as the imitation of elements in alien cultures that differ from native traditions. Exoticism carries its own spectrum of interpretation, in that certain works of art can fall under or between two main categories: pure exoticism and transcultural composing. Through the use of non Western elements in Western music , exoticism seeks to evoke a group perceived as different, often by othering said group. Ralph P. Locke, former professor of musicology at Eastman School of Music, views pure exoticism as a form of exoticism with the purpose of representing an exotic subject as different from what is considered acceptable or appropriate. Transcultural composing focuses on a hybrid of Western and non Western styles, and is intended to pay a tribute to the music. There is no clear cut definition of musical exoticism, but rather a window open to varied interpretations and opinions. Renowned for his operas, English composer Benjamin Brittenwrote Death in Venice which uses non Western elements to represent something as other within the character of the protagonist, Aschenbach. How Did The Maccabees Influence The Jewish The Jews shifted their allegiance to Alexander and in return Alexander allowed the Jews to observe their own laws, gave them exemption from tribute tax during the Sabbath years. Alexander also encouraged the Jewish people to live in Alexandria, Egypt and gave them privileges reserved for his own Greek people. When Alexander died in 323 B. C., some of his generals divided the empire among themselves: The Ptolemies of Egypt, the Seleucids of Persia and parts of Asia Minor, and the Antigonids of Macedon. (Intertestamental Period New Testament Background, 2001). At first, the Egyptian Ptolemaic Empire controlled the Jews from 320 198 B. C., and then Seleucid (Syrian) Empire, around 198 B. The Seleucids made determined efforts to force Hellenism on the Jews. Some accepted it, but most did not (Halley, 2000). After the fall of Athens, the time when this play was written, making fun of human flaws such as vanity was used as a form of comedy. This is shown most through the character of Pyrgopolynices, who constantly recounts his accomplishments in battle in both war and love. Some comedic techniques the audience sees in the play also used in modern day televisioninclude comedic hyperboles and violence. These techniques are similar to today s reality televisionshows, which tend to be modern day comedies. Pyrgopolinices vanity is used as a technique of comedyin the play. In the first act, he brags about conquering an elephant with one arm as well as his good luck with attracting many women. The audience can see this clearly throughout the play. He is even tricked into thinking that he is handsome enough to steal his neighbor s wife. In modern day, we see vanity used as comedy often in reality television. A prime example can be of the reality star Scott Disick in Keeping Up with the Kardashians. He is known to be conceded and full of himself like Pyropolinices, thinking his charming looks attracts all women. The education that children receive is very much correlated to the education that their parents received when they were children. Research shows that the literacy of their parents strongly affects the education of their children. One reason for this is that parents who have gone beyond a high school education are found to be more involved with their infants and children than those who did not finish high school...many less educated parents simply have more unmanaged stress in their lives, and this stress interferes with ability and opportunity to interact with their child (Paulsen et al. 2002). In a chemical reaction, the main change that occurs relates to the way atoms are bonded to each other, in order to change those connections, bonds must be broken and new bonds be formed. It s important to understand that it takes energy to break bonds and that energy is released when bonds are formed. Chemical reactions that release energy are called exothermic reactions, these reactions are observed by an increase in temperature of the reaction mixture. Chemical reactions that absorb energy are called endothermic reactions, these reactions are observed by a decrease in temperature of the reaction mixture. Endothermic and Exothermic reactions release or absorb energy, the graph above shows the way in which the chemical energy changes. In this experiment, we investigate the change in temperature caused by adding a chemical substance into the water and dissolving it. In musical theatre, however, an ensemble is used to support the main characters and add to the overall effect of the show. There is power in numbers, power in a song sung by thirty voices instead of one, power in a synchronized dance routine performed by forty dancers instead of one. Having the backup support from the ensemble also releases some stress from the actors playing the lead roles as well. If the ensemble has no energy, the entire show loses energy and ... Michael Moore Capitailism a Love Story Review Essay MOVIE REVIEW CAPITALISM: A LOVE STORY BY MICHAEL MOORE Date:December 7, 2012 The film Capitalism: A Love Story is a documentary by Michael Moore which outlines the negative effects capitalism has on modern society. Moore points out that capitalism gives people the opportunity to make a lot of money and to have a high standard of living. However, for many workers, making an income to support a family can be quite impossible. At one time, you could find a secure job and live a good life, but capitalism has evolved into a system of greed where only the rich get richer, and the middle class get poorer with no chance to better themselves. Detrimentally, many corporations have evolved negatively where the CEOs are only concerned about filling their own personal pockets with increasing profits and not caring at all about the well being of their employees. Michael Moore eagerly points out the negative impacts capitalism has on society. Capitalism no longer provides people with the long term sustainability needed to support themselves and their families. A good example of this is when Moore speaks out about his hometown of Flint, Michigan, and the GM plant where most of the citizens worked. When the automotive company shut down, the workers lost their jobs, and they had nowhere to turn for money. Moore alluded the reason the plant shut down was for the CEOs benefit because they were trying to make more profit, while not giving a second thought for the welfare of the people of Flint. As a result, many families lost their homes, and Flint became an abandoned city. Capitalism does not care about the average person because it is a system where corporations compete for higher profits and more benefits for the rich CEOs. If the GM plant in Flint was planning to close, and there was any regard for its employees, why was there no effort made to retrain employees with skills needed for other jobs so that they could continue to support their families and debts? In fact, CEOs of large corporations lobby and influence government policies to permit special tax cuts and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, and Hamilton all prove that the arts are an essential aspect in American culture and history.
