Discrimination Lives Within Everyone Essay
Racial discrimination has affected the world in many ways. Historically in the United States there
have always been racial issues between the African Americans and white Americans. Most African
Americans were sidelined in all areas of economic, political and social growth. Whites were seen to
be more superior, which led to segregation of housing, schools, restaurants, hotels, and
transportation. Equally concerning, are the instances of religious discrimination that still occur in
this country. Even though we have made important advances in race relations, we still face serious
racial and religious discrimination in the United States. During the 1950s until the mid 1970s
African Americans fought for their rights to have equality in... Show more content on

One of the most famous historical marches was the march in Birmingham, Alabama. This is
where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. visited his associated organization and discussed the a
nonviolent movement through the streets of Birmingham. King was arrested for violating a state
policy of assembling a protest and spent time in solitary confinement. During King s time alone
he wrote a letter to the clergymen of Alabama stating that he was wrongfully arrested and that he
had good reason for being in Birmingham. King stated that he was the president of the SCLC
organization, and he was invited to Birmingham because he had ties there in Birmingham (King
222). Another form of discrimination that plagues us today is reverse discrimination. Reverse
discrimination is a controversial term referring to discrimination against members of a dominant
or majority group, including the city, state, or country in favor of a minority or historically
disadvantaged group. Martha Gellhorn author of White into Black told her story dealing with
racial discrimination during the 1950s in Haiti. Martha Gellhorn was a white author who went to
Haiti to write a book and found herself mistreated by her own ethnic race. She was treated as if
she was a minority and did not fit in because she was an outsider. Gellhorn quoted at the end of her
story that

IV. OPTIMIZING AVAILABILITY PROVISIONING IN NFV
Even though the efficiency is greatly improved, our framework is still impractical in the sense
that the process can be further prolonged with 1) a even higher availability requirement, which is
normal in a carrier class network [18] (usually requires an availability of 99.999% or 99.9999%
(5 9s or 6 9s)); 2) more requests; and 3) longer contract period duration. The root cause the
process takes such a long time is it depends on the strategy we use to provision backups and how
many backups are needed. In other words, if we can accurately estimate the least possible number
of backups needed without running the trial and error process, a great amount of running time can
be saved. The process ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Thus, the probability that all the VNFs are available can be expressed as However, computing
such a function is not easy, which requires one to enumerate all elements in Rm, which requires to

we can have the following theorem:
Theorem 1. Verifying if the availability of a given deployed SFC request with backups is above a

3. Characterize the initiation ritual. How do you think it compares to the real ritual if such a ritual

In the text the initiation into the Mafia is quite complicated. A proposed member is blindfolded
and led into a dark room. Pieces of Cranshaw melon are placed in his pockets, and he is required
to hop around on one foot and cry out, Toodles! Toodles! Next, his lower lip is pulled out and
snapped back by all the members of the board, or commissione; some may even wish to do it
twice. Following this, some oats are put on his head. If he complains, he is disqualified. If,
however, he says, Good. I like oats on my head, he is welcomed into the brotherhood. This is done
by kissing him on the cheek and shaking his hand. From that moment on, he is not permitted to eat
chutney, to amuse his friends by imitating a hen, or to kill anybody named Vito.
The real ceremony involves significant ritual, oaths, blood, and an agreement is made to follow the
rules of the Mafia as presented to the inductee. 4. Allen s language is pervaded by understatements,
contrasts and absurdities. Give examples from the text:

Water Pollution For Drinking Water
INTRODUCTION
All citizens should have access safe water. On January 9, 2014, nearly 300,000 citizens in the
greater Charleston area were confronted with a situation where their water was no longer safe. This
devastating situation was the result of a chemical spill of 4 methylcyclohexanemethanol (MCHM)
into the Elk River just upstream from the West VirginiaAmerican Water (WVAW) treatment plant.
In response to the spill, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) was asked to
determine a safe level of MCHM in the drinking water. Using available toxicity data, which was
minimal, the CDC determined the safety level to be 1 ppm MCHM. Soon after the CDC followed
with a warning that out of an abundance of caution pregnant women should not drink the water.
This message, rightfully, resulted in much community concern and anxiety. This warning generated
concerns about other vulnerable populations, such as young children, pregnant women who had
drank the water before the warning, and about the long term health effects on babies born exposed
pregnant women.
This memo addresses safe levels of exposure for pregnant women and families contemplating
having children, as well as the health effects on pregnancies of the citizens exposed to the chemical
spill. Additionally, this memo discusses the broader context of public health in the community as it
relates to environmental safety and justice.

Prevention is the greatest protection A few years ago, my neighbor got married and was ready to

on all couples to accept genetic screening before pregnancy to avoid newborns with severe

Religious Discrimination In The Workplace
Religious Discrimination at the Workplace
Intro There are thousands of religions in the world, so it is necessary that an employer be very
careful to not discriminate against a person for their faith. One can define discrimination as unequal
treatment of employees or job applicants based on color, race, gender, religion, age, or nationality.
The Civil Rights Act of 1964 made it illegal for and employer who has fifteen or more employees
to discriminate against an employee under any circumstance. Many employees can and are still
being wrongly discriminated against by there employers or fellow employees over their religions.
Religious Discrimination Cases The case EEOC vs. Red Robin Gourmet Burgers was brought
before a district court , in August 2005, because one of employees at the restaurant, Edward
Rangel, had small religious tattoos around his wrists, which he refused to cover. Red Robin was
sued because Mr. Rangel s tattoos were part of his religious practice of the ancient Egyptian
religion of Kemetic Orthodoxy. The employee had worked at the business for six months without
being approached about his tattoos; Mr. Rangel also talked to management concerning his tattoos
being a religious requirement and how covering them would constitute a sin. The district court
ruled in Mr. Rangel s favor because of the length of time he had worked and also the size of the
tattoos. Red Robin had to pay damages to the tune of $160,000 as well as having to make some

Equal Rights Amendment In The 1920 s
Equal Rights Amendment The Roaring Twenties brought along more than just a change in fashion
and culture, it also introduced the strong fighting National Woman s Party which introduced the
Equal Rights Amendment to Congress in 1923.The Equal Rights Amendment had several purposes
that seemed extremely important to women, however, a bit contradicting to 1920s society and
American culture. In 1912 Alice Stokes Paul and Lucy Burns were appointed into the National
American Woman Suffrage Association due to their hard work and active movement in search of
total gender equality. Alice Paul eventually was dissatisfied with the little impact that the NAWSA
had shown to women and decide to form and become the leader of the Congressional Union. The
Congressional Union s duty was to directly pressure the government into giving equal rights to both
men and women. She did not only wan equality to be a law, she wanted it to become part of the US
Constitution. She played a strong part in the ratification process of the 19th Amendment which

Alice Paul and her followers believed that this was the next necessary step to have equal justice
under law . This amendment would get rid of any gender inequalities that occurred in the legal
system and in society in general. She believed that the ERA would end all discrimination against
women. Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by
any state on account of sex, Is a direct quote from the ERA that became recognizable because it
outlines the primary purpose of the amendment. The amendment did not only grant equality in the
constitution, but it also guaranteed women their rights and protected them from lawmakers to
weaken their privileges as women. This would mean that if men were required by law to sign up

The Role Of Women During The Canterbury Tales By William...
The role of women in society has been well documented through world literature. And the reality
is that for a large bulk of human history, women have been treated as the subordinate to men and
have not been given a voice (David Splawn, 2015). Works such as The Canterbury Tales by
Geoffrey Chaucer, Hamlet by William Shakespeare,The Education of Women by Daniel Defoe,
and A Doll s House by Henrik Ibsen. These works come from a wide variety of time periods, they
range from the middle ages to the modern era, where the first was published around 900 years
before the last. While women make up approximately half of the population of the world, literature
does not reflect this ratio. Even with such population, most works do not even focus on women.
Few works have dealt with the role of women in society throughout the history of literature, but it
has become more and more of a recurring theme as time passes. Works like The Canterbury Tales
by Geoffrey Chaucerand Hamlet by William Shakespeare were rare for their time due to how they
portrayed female characters. Works like The Education of Women by Daniel Defoe and A Doll s
House by Henrik Ibsen were wrote in a time of change and were not as rare as the other works
published in the same time period. Geoffrey Chaucer slams the role of women in his novel, The
Canterbury Tales. Chaucer tells three stories told by women. Each of these women do not fully
fulfill the images connected with the role the character is supposed

A Issue For The Older Person With Fracture Trauma
This assignment will critically discuss a pertinent issue for the older person with fracture trauma.
It will aim to explore the mortality rate and clinical outcomes of neck of femur fractures in the
older person. It will look at information from the National Hip Fracture Database (NHFD) and the
Fracture Outcome Research Database (FORD) while also looking at the best evidence based
practice in accordance with the National Institute for health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines,
the British Geriatric Society (BGS) and the British Orthopaedic Associations (BOA) blue book
standards. It will also compare the current statistics in Northern Ireland with the rest of the United
Kingdom.
The National Hip Fracture Database is the largest and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Its figures showed approximately 70,000 to 75,000 hip fractures occur each year which costs the
NHS ВЈ2 billion per year including social and medical input. Within one month about 10% of all
neck of femur fractures die, however these deaths are more commonly associated with pre existing
health conditions as opposed to being as a result of the fracture itself.
Bretherton and Parker (2014) have given evidence that suggests that approximately 200 elderly
patients sustain a hip fracture per day in England and Wales. The rate of 30 day mortality which
is associated with this injury is 8.2%. Travis et al, (2014) found that in 1990, the global number
of hip fractures reported were 1.3 million, it is estimated that this could increase to 21 million by
2050. Neck of femur fractures are considered the most common cause of injury related death. In
2006, roughly 330,000 patients sustained neck of femur fractures. (Shields et Kates 2014). It is
found that neck of femur fractures are the most common occurring fractures in the older patient.
Hershkovitz et al (2010) highlight how it is the most common traumatic event in the elderly and
may lead to significant mortality. A study carried out over ten years, between 2001 and 2011 using
data from the National Health Service (NHS) in England, showed a 15.5% increase in hospital
admissions

Competitive Grading Sabotages Good Teaching
I believe that competitive grading sabotages good teaching. From being a student, I know that
students do not enjoy a class where they know that their teacher is against them. When teachers
grade anything, they should point out mistakes; however, they should point out what is correct too
in order to encourage students. Teachers should not feel good about themselves when many
students fail an examination or do not do well on a paper; instead, they should realize that they
have not taught their students well. Many teacher see grades as a numbers game; for example,
they may not want to give away many As. However, if many students do work that is A material,
they may gradesome students harsher in order to keep their grade distribution consistent,

The Chinese Expansion And Territorial Claims Within The...
The Chinese expansion and territorial claims in the South China Sea is escalating tensions with
surrounding countries and the United States. As the National Security Council summons to discuss
this matter, I embrace the role of the Secretary of Defense. A brief explanation of this job is, Under
the President, who is also Commander in Chief, the Secretary of Defense exercises authority,
direction, and control over the Department, which includes the separately organized military
departments of Army, Navy, and Air Force, the Joint Chiefs of Staffproviding military advice, the
unified and specified combatant commands, and various defense agencies established for specific
purposes (unt.edu). Furthermore, it is important to understand that persons in the position of
Secretary Defense are a member of the cabinet, appointed by the president. This piece of
information is pivotal in order to fathom the idea that the Secretary of Defense is subject to
modification with every transformation of administration, hence sanctioning only a small amount
of continuity in military strategy. The responsibility coveted by the Secretary of Defense at this
conference that can be inferred from the duties outlined above is, collaboration with all constituents
of the Department of the Defense in the direction of providing the best recommendation regarding
resolution of the tensions over the South China Sea. The focal point of this recommendation will be
a military strategy and the manner in which to

Acer must take a much more aggressive approach to get their name more widely recognized in

they have been around, and the type of quality product they produce. I personally know after
doing the research on this report, I would not hesitate to buy an Acer tablet or PC, but not

Despite strong competition from Dell and Hewlett Packard, Acer s U.S. market share increased
from 1 percent in 2004 to 3.3 percent by the end of 2006. Analyze Acer s prospects for gaining
further share in the United States. I believe the biggest reason for this is that Acer put a stronger
focus on the consumer market versus the business market. Companies such as Dell were much
more focused on the business market during this time period while Acer was offering low priced
PC s to consumers. I also think Acer s lean supply chain allowed them to enter the U.S. market with

Nike Economic Recession
In my opinion, if the sales volume were starting to suffer due to an economic recession, it would
be absolutely necessary to change the corporate strategy. This is particularly true if the recession
may have long term effects. One of the primary areas a recession affects in terms of products is
the price. The current corporate strategy adopted by Nike is clearly geared towards the higher end
of the market, and such a strategy may not be sustainable if consumers are searching for value in a
market recession. Therefore, a change in corporate strategy would involve cost cutting, either from
sponsorships or by reducing stores overheads. A change in the market, as significant as a recession,
requires a new strategy for organizations in ensuring

The, Liberals And The Neo Orthodox
Throughout the Church history, details in which to interpret Scripture and the place of it, has
been debated among major groups for centuries. Three major groups that all read and interpret
scripture to a different standard are the Evangelicals, Liberals and the Neo Orthodox. Each group
holds the Scriptures sacred in their own way, but not everyone agrees to the others use. The first
group was the Liberals. The Liberals were by far the most unique of these three groups because
were prepared to disregard standard traditions to get to a more contemporary way of practicing their
faith. One way they did this was in the way they looked at scripture. When reading Scripture, they
did not see it as inspired in the same way that other groups did. Typically, across denominations,
most everyone views scripture with the most authority because it is God s Word and they believe
that the text is directly from God s mouth, but the Liberals didn t see it that way. They believed that
Christianitywas meant to change as time progressed. For example, they believed many of the
statements that are made throughout the Bible, both New and Old Testament, were not meant to be
the standard in which Christians were to be held at today because times have changed and
changes in beliefs are to be made as society and culture changes. The next group was the
Evangelicals. Evangelicals were a group that was predominantly popular in England. Evangelicals

Epilepsy Is A Central Nervous System Disorder ( Cns )
Introduction
Epilepsy is a central nervous system disorder(CNS) causing recurrent seizures and can only be
defined when there is at least one epileptic seizure.[1][2] John Hughlings Jackson, a notable
British neurologist proposed that epilepsy is an occasional, an excessive and a disorderly
discharge of nervous tissue . About 65 million people(1% of the human population) in the world
have epilepsy and the cases account for 80% in developing countries. [3][4] In this essay, the
normal physiology of nerve transmission in cerebral cortex and pathophysiology of epilepsy will
be discussed. The mechanism of action of valproate is also studied and how it leads to the
treatment of epilepsy.
Normal Physiology of Nerve Tranmission in Cerebral Cortex
The body system that is affected by epilepsy is CNS which is consisted of the brain and the spinal
cord.[5] (Figure 1) Figure 1 The major divsions of CNS[5]
The brain has a part called the cerebral cortex(gray matter) which is made up of 3 to 6 layers of
neurons.[7] A neuronhas three parts namely axon, dendrites and cell body.[6] Neurons are classified
as principal(projection) neurons and interneurons. Principal neurons transmit information to other
neurons in the brain and form excitatory synapses. Interneurons in the CNS transmit impulses
locally and form inhibitory synapse.[7] Two common types of pathways for these neurons include
recurrent feedback pathways and feed forward pathways.[9](Figure 2) `

Relations Between Iran And The Middle East
Oil. This one word can explain the relationship between the western world especially the United
States and the Middle East. It can be used to trace the reasoning behind many interactions between
these two spheres of the world. It is also the basis of one of the most controversial foreign policy
operations of the United States, Operation Ajax. Although Operation Ajax happened sixty years
ago, its consequences had immediate and lasting effects on both Iranand American Iranian
relations. I will argue that the coup led to the 1979 Islamic revolution and consequently put into
motion the strained relations between Iran and the United States; it also had significant effects on
both the United States and Iran s political history. I will cement my argument by giving a detailed
account of Operation Ajax and the players involved in it as well as giving descriptive examples of
why it happened as well as how it continues to have a lasting effect.
The United States has no credibility as a bearer of democracy to Iran because of its role in
crushing democracy there half a century ago (Kinzer xvii). This was said by Akbar Ganji an
Iranian dissident who precisely struck a significant point of American Iranian relations. That one
sentence explains exactly what happened during Operation Ajax Iran s first democracy was
destroyed in an attempt to protect self interested parties of the western world. Operation Ajax was a

Improving School Education System Essay
America is a blessed country in numerous ways, and its citizens reap the benefits. Free education
is one major benefit that not many other countries provide for their citizens. While it is only a
privilege to many, but in the States, people have the right to be educated. However, free education
cannot be translated to success for all. For those motivated ones who cherish the privilege to be
educated are those who climb up the success ladders later in life. For a certain majority of students
in the States, our current educational system may not seem to serve its purpose. In this paper, I will
explore two possible adjustments that could be made to improve our system to benefit our next
generation. Academic improvement and class size... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Techniques and skills need to be learnt, and cannot be replaced by the convenience of technology.
In the primary years, students ought to be grounded with the basics. Once they miss this window, it
requires them more to be trained later in life. I marvel at the speed of our technology advancement,
but how I desire to see academic advancement in our next generation.
Kindergarten teachers always earn my greatest respect. In California, the class size has increased to
22 students for kindergarten to third grade. One teacher versus 22 students, coming from different
background and educational level, really is a big challenge for another to take. Given that some
students have gone through preschool and some who have never had any group experience prior to
entering kindergarten, that creates a gigantic tap among the kids in one class. The first couple
months into the school year, teachers would spend the majority of time establishing structure,
routine, and disciplines. Without these being taken place in the beginning of the year, teaching is
almost an impossible task to accomplish. The class size needs to be limited to maximize the
discipline and the learning, or another option is to have a teacher s aid in the class to assist the
lead teacher. Reduction of class size benefits both the teachers and the students. With a small size,
teachers can better control their classrooms, and thus, able to allocate

Memoirs Of A Geisha Thesis
Memoirs of a Geisha is based off of a true story of a famous Geisha during WWII. The movie
starts when Sayuri was sold into an okiya and ends in her adulthood. Reflecting on the historical
aspects of the movie, it seems to have done well staying accurate. For example: the importance of
okiyas, change caused by the war, and the architectural styles seen in the movie work well for that
time. One thing the movie accurately describes in relation to AP World History is textiles (trade)
specifically with the material used for making kimono. Many times the importance of kimono is
expressed in the movie as it helps show the worth of geisha and maiko. Making kimono was labor

As I said before I am trying to lose weight, and this showed me that calories and exercise are not
the only things I need to focus on. I realized that I consume more protein and carbohydrates than
I need and both of those get stored as fat if not used. I also consume too much sodium which can
have negative effects on the hear. Sodium makes blood volume increase which makes the heart
have to work harder, and over time this leads to high blood pressure, heat attack, stoke, and even
heart failure (Harvard 2016). In regards to this I need to cut down on my sodium intake to

How does Wild Swans explore the central character s experience of adolescence?
In Alice Munro s short narrative Wild Swans, the female adolescent narrator, Rose, travels alone
on a train ride to Toronto. On the train she is sexually harassed by a minister and through Rose s
reactions to the harassment, readers are given a vivid image of how Rose experiences adolescence.
Throughout the story, Rose experiences fear and confusion about growing up, prompting herx to
attempt to evaluate the world through the perspectives of others, and eventually mature into a
woman with the courage to display her long suppressed concupiscence, showing evidence of a

Rose is glad that the minister [is] not going to mention God (14), but instead the man starts to
harass her, a far more grotesque action, bringing a sense of irony to the story. At this point, Rose
starts to question the ethics of society, and this can be seen not just as confusion, in the context of
the story, but also as a further exploration of youthful bewilderment about established values from
a young age such as mutual respect and the integrity which adults are expected to uphold. Even
towards the end of the story, Rose could never understand what recommended [the minister] when
she decided to self pollute at a later stage of her life. The lack of answers is the very reason why
Rose attempts to consider multiple perspectives at once in hope for more answers, motivating her
development through adolescence.
Finally, Rose develops greater self awareness, a greater awareness of others and the ability to
consider multiple perspectives, as shown by her mental consideration of the possible repercussions
for accusing the minister of harassment or asking him to take his hand away. Her evidence of
awareness for herself and others is demonstrated through her inability to ask the minister to take his
hands away. Due to an increased awareness of others, Rose feared the other passengers would fixate
their attention on her, showing her shyness in through her mental thoughts. She shaped the words

The Rise Of Higher Education
There are many topics that are trending in the higher education industry but there are three that
seemed to be most common. This consists of cost, technology, and learning. We all know that
college can be very expensive and over the years cost has just continued to rise. This holds true
for technology as well. We live in a society where technology is rapidly advancing and everyone
wants to keep up with the latest trends. This rapid advancement in technology also affects the way
we learn and how we are being taught.
Cost, Technology, and Learning
Getting a higher education whether it be at a college, professional, or graduate school currently
cost more than ever but without the, you lose more than ever. Higher education has become more

look at the past, present and future, we will be able to see how the cost of higher education has
changed.
Studies show that the cost of higher education has jumped more than 538% since 1985. This
means that the cost of higher education is almost 4.5 times as expensive as it was back in the
80s. The average cost for all institutions in 1981 82 was $3,489 compared to what it was in 2011
2012 at $19,339. Four year institutions increased from $3,951 to $23,066 and two year institutions

Order Size 1 Dozen:6 + 2 + 1 + 9 + 5 + 2 + 1 = 26 minutes
Order Size 2 Dozen: 26 + 1 + 9 = 36 minutes
Order Size 3 Dozen:36 + 1 + 9 = 46 minutes

This represents 1 labor minute per cookie (12 labor minutes / 12 cookies) ii. 2 Dozen

a.10 minutes by Kristen: prepare (6 minutes) and spoon (4 minutes)
b.7 minutes by roommate: set oven (2 minutes), package (4 minutes), and accept payment (1

This represents 0.71 labor minutes per cookie (17 labor minutes / 24 cookies)
This means that there was a 29% reduction in labor (1 0.71), which means that it cost us 29% less

Preschool Class Reflection
For this task, I watched my mom s preschool class and the three kids which she keeps an eye on
ends of the week. The majority of the children that are in the preschool class were three years of
age, however, there was one five years old. The children I helped keep an eye on two twin three
year old young ladies, and one five years old.
When I initially touched base at the preschool, the children appeared to be extremely timid
towards me and they didn t appear as though they were exceptionally agreeable. I was an outsider
to them, and I would need to figure that the greater part of the youngsters was encountering a tiny
bit of more unusual uneasiness. I conversed with my mom about how the kids responded toward

majority of the children that on the off chance that they were great. The leprechaun would abandon
them gold in their pot. While these children were eating their bites. I cleared out and put gold
confection in their pots, and after that sat tight for their responses and remarks when they returned
to perceive what had happened. I wish I could have recorded their responses since some of them
were clever. I saw that one youngster bounced around and shouted that he was here, he was here,
what s more, another youngster was checking out the room endeavoring to discover the leprechaun.
In general, I found that my animistic intuition venture functioned admirably. To finish up my

Everyone Should Go Back To College
Everyone has busy lives especially those that daily, are juggling more than one task. Nowhere is
this more apparent than in the life of a college professional, or someone who attends a job while
going to college. Many struggle going to long work weeks to be able to afford their bills while
they also going to school for hope of a better future. This is something relatable to a great deal of
young Americans, and something that is becoming more common place in our older generations
that later in life are choosing to advance their education. Between the exams, essays, late nights
and long days how does one have time to forgo all these proceedings while simultaneously
maintaining a social life? As impossible as it may sound it is achievable with the right tools,
mindset and dedication. I am personally a part time student that normally attends three classes a

People should look to their peers, family, professors and advisors for the tools to be able to
surmount such a task. There are many options available for those who wish to go back to school

provided and to take every opportunity to be able to better ourselves. If we look to the past to
see how others have achieved their goals, we can learn to be able to accomplish such affairs
ourselves. With a little hard work a seemingly impossible task starts to become realistic with the
outlook of a better future. I consider going to school is important but shouldn t come with the
sacrifices of always being broke or never moving out. I would want to wish everyone the best of

America s Paradoxical Love Hate Relationship With War
This paper reviews America s paradoxical love hate relationship with war and how this relationship
influences American warfare through the research and study of the interpretation and analyzation
of American military models, policy and goal changes, the use of military technology, American
way of war, and the relationship with, preparation for, and application of war.
In the two hundred years since 1775, there has been thirty five years of fighting in what we
consider major conflicts or wars. This averages out to about one year of war to every almost 6
years of our existence as a nation and during that time, we have not been without formal military
organizations. Over the course of history, the United Stateshas engaged in many battles that were a
crucial phase in developing who and what we have become. Throughout this assessment, we will
analyze what were some of the true tipping points that shaped (1) America s paradoxical love
hate relationship with war and, (2) How this relationship influences American warfare. The final
paragraph from For the Common Defense Introduction (xiv) says: American s have had a peculiar
ambivalence toward war. They have traditionally and sincerely viewed themselves as a peaceful,
unmilitaristic people, and yet they had hardly been unwarlike. Statistics alone testify to the
pervasive presence of war in the nation s history, for tens of millions of American s have served in
wartime and more than a million have died in

The Theory Of Ladenness s Theory Essay
The theory of ladenness has been debated amongst philosophers for hundreds of years. The theory
of ladenness debates whether one s past experiences affect their perceived inputs or their
interpretation of those inputs. Kuhn strongly believes that one s experiences affect what they
perceive, however Hanson provides strong evidence suggesting that what people perceive as their
surroundings are indistinguishable, but their interpretations differ. While there is evidence to
support both theories, I believe that Hanson better provides evidence by showing the strength of his
theory while correspondingly arguing the flaws in Kuhn s theory. To understand the theory of
ladenness, we need to differentiate between perceptionand interpretation. Perception is the process
where we become aware of our surroundings, while interpretation is the process were our minds
absorb the information and comprehend it using information and experiences we have accumulated.
Despite their differences, these two functions are essentially related. Together they allow us to
become aware and react to our surroundings. We are constantly perceiving and subconsciously
reacting to our surroundings, without any cognization. However, when we are presented with a
problem, we force ourselves to use a deeper level of cognitionto think through the problem. This
mindful use of our cognitive abilities is what interpretation is, the application of our past
experiences to comprehend what he have perceived. Rather than

Holy Trinity
What is the first thing that comes to mind when someone mentions the Trinity? Do Christians
have a good understanding of what it means to serve a Triune God? Do we explain ourselves in a
precise way or do we leave people with unanswered questions and confusion? I would like to
explore the historic, orthodox Christianityand the classic Wesleyan Arminian consensus beliefs on
the person of the Holy Spirit.
First let us seek what it is that the orthodox Christians and the Wesleyan Arminian believe according
to the Trinity.
Orthodox Christians believe in a single God who is both three and one (triune); the Father, Son, and

How Has The Motion Picture Changed Everything
The Motion Picture changed everything. The very first movies were rather basic, showing
everyday routines such as the arrival of a train or female workers leaving a factory. The very
first action film was The Great Train Robbery (1905) which had a simple yet thrilling plot about
cowboy bandits and their attempt to steal money from a moving train. Then several Westerns
adapted the same basic plot, and some even moved it further. In the 1930 s the Noir and Gangster
movies such as Little Caesar (1931), Scarface (1932), and The public Enemy (1931) became
immensely popular, and these films normally had a rather violent story, many of them were
inspired by real gangsters. Then Came the forties and the fifties, which were mostly passive eras on

Lord of the Flies comparison with DNA
Although set in different periods, Lord of the Flies and DNA present similar ideas about good and
evil . How far do you agree with this view?
One of the central themes in both William Golding s Lord of the Flies and Dennis Kelly s DNA
is good and evil; both texts collectively offering a plethora of theories and ideas about the morals
of humans and how they influence their actions. In Lord of the Flies a group of British schoolboys
are stranded on an island. Far away from the influence of adults, Golding creates a pseudo
civilisation in which he examines the actions of human beings and conveys his ideas of good and
evil to the reader. Conversely, DNA focuses on a group of twenty first century teens, (still among a
society) where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
DNA was written in period of post modernism where metanarratives such as religion have declined
and society has fragmented, engendering the formation of our own beliefs and choices. This is
significant in Kelly s writing about good and evil as his ideas are often more ambiguous and
inquiring than Golding s. Additionally it enables Kelly to explore the flaws and strengths of
humanity on a wider and more open spectrum, in which he voices a cornucopia of theories and
perspectives. This is supported by the fact that Kelly wrote DNA in the style of dialectical
theatre and it can be read in the style of the playwright Brecht who focused on involving his
audience in his exploration of theories. He uses theatrical conventions such as rhetorical
questions to consciously draw the audience to comment on matters of science and the nature of
humanity good and evil. In comparison to Lord of the Flies (which offers a far more assured
depiction of humanity) the role of the play is not to simply present us a story, yet to compel
audience members to question the many issues raised on our nature as it progresses. I think this is
most clearly demonstrated by Leah s monologues, which, as Phil ignores them, seem to be
implicitly directed to the audience, almost breaking the fourth wall . An example of this is the
question: Are we really that simple? Here Kelly puts Leah in the role of the chorus, influencing
audience members to

Outsourcing Of The National Labor Committee Thinks Otherwise
American companies and their products, have increasingly been pursed to be manufactured abroad.
This however is one of the biggest discrepancies we confront within our economy. Although many
businesses argue this is beneficial in order for them to turn a higher profit and be successful, the
National Labor Committee thinks otherwise. Outsourcinghas become one of the leading factors in
product recalls, exploitation of workers, and a major contributor to the unemployment statistics in
the US. Although outsourcing is a contributor to mass production and a products supply and demand
growth, it has also been known for some of the largest product recalls. In the largest product recall
in China in 2008, the baby formula of Sanlu (the largest company in the industry by volume was
found to contain melamine originated from contaminated milk supply outsourced to local farmers.
(Lu, Ng, Tao, 2012, p. 2). Lu, Ng, Tao simplify the term outsourcing by expressing how
Outsourcing involves contracting with external suppliers for the delivery of parts and components
with pre specified quality levels. (Lu, Ng, Tao, 2012, p. 2). This is a clear indication that product
quality is never fully tested when outsourcing. Quality controllers are given a general guideline to
aby with, and once met the product may be produced. As a consumer there is nothing more
important than a products quality and reputation. It would be ethically unfair to a consumer to save
their hard earned money in

  • 2. Discrimination Lives Within Everyone Essay Racial discrimination has affected the world in many ways. Historically in the United States there have always been racial issues between the African Americans and white Americans. Most African Americans were sidelined in all areas of economic, political and social growth. Whites were seen to be more superior, which led to segregation of housing, schools, restaurants, hotels, and transportation. Equally concerning, are the instances of religious discrimination that still occur in this country. Even though we have made important advances in race relations, we still face serious racial and religious discrimination in the United States. During the 1950s until the mid 1970s African Americans fought for their rights to have equality in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the most famous historical marches was the march in Birmingham, Alabama. This is where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. visited his associated organization and discussed the a nonviolent movement through the streets of Birmingham. King was arrested for violating a state policy of assembling a protest and spent time in solitary confinement. During King s time alone he wrote a letter to the clergymen of Alabama stating that he was wrongfully arrested and that he had good reason for being in Birmingham. King stated that he was the president of the SCLC organization, and he was invited to Birmingham because he had ties there in Birmingham (King 222). Another form of discrimination that plagues us today is reverse discrimination. Reverse discrimination is a controversial term referring to discrimination against members of a dominant or majority group, including the city, state, or country in favor of a minority or historically disadvantaged group. Martha Gellhorn author of White into Black told her story dealing with racial discrimination during the 1950s in Haiti. Martha Gellhorn was a white author who went to Haiti to write a book and found herself mistreated by her own ethnic race. She was treated as if she was a minority and did not fit in because she was an outsider. Gellhorn quoted at the end of her story that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Iv. Optimizing Availability Provisioning In Nfv . Even IV. OPTIMIZING AVAILABILITY PROVISIONING IN NFV Even though the efficiency is greatly improved, our framework is still impractical in the sense that the process can be further prolonged with 1) a even higher availability requirement, which is normal in a carrier class network [18] (usually requires an availability of 99.999% or 99.9999% (5 9s or 6 9s)); 2) more requests; and 3) longer contract period duration. The root cause the process takes such a long time is it depends on the strategy we use to provision backups and how many backups are needed. In other words, if we can accurately estimate the least possible number of backups needed without running the trial and error process, a great amount of running time can be saved. The process ... Verifying if the availability of a given deployed SFC request with backups is above a given threshold is PPcomplete. Proof. The detailed proof is ignored here due to the limited space. In general, we can rewrite Eq. (6) as a boolean formular, where xj and _ xj represent if the j th VM is available or not, while Q and P are replaced by ^ and _, respectively. Next, his lower lip is pulled out and snapped back by all the members of the board, or commissione; some may even wish to do it twice. Following this, some oats are put on his head. If he complains, he is disqualified. If, however, he says, Good. I like oats on my head, he is welcomed into the brotherhood. This is done by kissing him on the cheek and shaking his hand. From that moment on, he is not permitted to eat chutney, to amuse his friends by imitating a hen, or to kill anybody named Vito. • 6. Water Pollution For Drinking Water INTRODUCTION All citizens should have access safe water. On January 9, 2014, nearly 300,000 citizens in the greater Charleston area were confronted with a situation where their water was no longer safe. This devastating situation was the result of a chemical spill of 4 methylcyclohexanemethanol (MCHM) into the Elk River just upstream from the West VirginiaAmerican Water (WVAW) treatment plant. In response to the spill, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) was asked to determine a safe level of MCHM in the drinking water. Using available toxicity data, which was minimal, the CDC determined the safety level to be 1 ppm MCHM. Soon after the CDC followed with a warning that out of an abundance of caution pregnant women should not drink the water. This message, rightfully, resulted in much community concern and anxiety. This warning generated concerns about other vulnerable populations, such as young children, pregnant women who had drank the water before the warning, and about the long term health effects on babies born exposed pregnant women. This memo addresses safe levels of exposure for pregnant women and families contemplating having children, as well as the health effects on pregnancies of the citizens exposed to the chemical spill. • 8. Religious Discrimination In The Workplace Religious Discrimination at the Workplace Intro There are thousands of religions in the world, so it is necessary that an employer be very careful to not discriminate against a person for their faith. One can define discrimination as unequal treatment of employees or job applicants based on color, race, gender, religion, age, or nationality. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 made it illegal for and employer who has fifteen or more employees to discriminate against an employee under any circumstance. Many employees can and are still being wrongly discriminated against by there employers or fellow employees over their religions. Religious Discrimination Cases The case EEOC vs. Red Robin Gourmet Burgers was brought before a district court , in August 2005, because one of employees at the restaurant, Edward Rangel, had small religious tattoos around his wrists, which he refused to cover. Red Robin was sued because Mr. Rangel s tattoos were part of his religious practice of the ancient Egyptian religion of Kemetic Orthodoxy. The employee had worked at the business for six months without being approached about his tattoos; Mr. Rangel also talked to management concerning his tattoos being a religious requirement and how covering them would constitute a sin. Equal Rights Amendment In The 1920 s Equal Rights Amendment The Roaring Twenties brought along more than just a change in fashion and culture, it also introduced the strong fighting National Woman s Party which introduced the Equal Rights Amendment to Congress in 1923.The Equal Rights Amendment had several purposes that seemed extremely important to women, however, a bit contradicting to 1920s society and American culture. In 1912 Alice Stokes Paul and Lucy Burns were appointed into the National American Woman Suffrage Association due to their hard work and active movement in search of total gender equality. Alice Paul eventually was dissatisfied with the little impact that the NAWSA had shown to women and decide to form and become the leader of the Congressional Union. The Congressional Union s duty was to directly pressure the government into giving equal rights to both men and women. • 10. The Role Of Women During The Canterbury Tales By William... The role of women in society has been well documented through world literature. And the reality is that for a large bulk of human history, women have been treated as the subordinate to men and have not been given a voice (David Splawn, 2015). Works such as The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer, Hamlet by William Shakespeare,The Education of Women by Daniel Defoe, and A Doll s House by Henrik Ibsen. These works come from a wide variety of time periods, they range from the middle ages to the modern era, where the first was published around 900 years before the last. While women make up approximately half of the population of the world, literature does not reflect this ratio. Even with such population, most works do not even focus on women. Few works have dealt with the role of women in society throughout the history of literature, but it has become more and more of a recurring theme as time passes. Works like The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucerand Hamlet by William Shakespeare were rare for their time due to how they portrayed female characters. Works like The Education of Women by Daniel Defoe and A Doll s House by Henrik Ibsen were wrote in a time of change and were not as rare as the other works published in the same time period. Geoffrey Chaucer slams the role of women in his novel, The Canterbury Tales. Chaucer tells three stories told by women. Within one month about 10% of all neck of femur fractures die, however these deaths are more commonly associated with pre existing health conditions as opposed to being as a result of the fracture itself. Bretherton and Parker (2014) have given evidence that suggests that approximately 200 elderly patients sustain a hip fracture per day in England and Wales. The rate of 30 day mortality which is associated with this injury is 8.2%. Travis et al, (2014) found that in 1990, the global number of hip fractures reported were 1.3 million, it is estimated that this could increase to 21 million by 2050. Neck of femur fractures are considered the most common cause of injury related death. In 2006, roughly 330,000 patients sustained neck of femur fractures. (Shields et Kates 2014). Teachers should not feel good about themselves when many students fail an examination or do not do well on a paper; instead, they should realize that they have not taught their students well. The Chinese expansion and territorial claims in the South China Sea is escalating tensions with surrounding countries and the United States. As the National Security Council summons to discuss this matter, I embrace the role of the Secretary of Defense. A brief explanation of this job is, Under the President, who is also Commander in Chief, the Secretary of Defense exercises authority, direction, and control over the Department, which includes the separately organized military departments of Army, Navy, and Air Force, the Joint Chiefs of Staffproviding military advice, the unified and specified combatant commands, and various defense agencies established for specific purposes (unt.edu). Furthermore, it is important to understand that persons in the position of Secretary Defense are a member of the cabinet, appointed by the president. This piece of information is pivotal in order to fathom the idea that the Secretary of Defense is subject to modification with every transformation of administration, hence sanctioning only a small amount of continuity in military strategy. The responsibility coveted by the Secretary of Defense at this conference that can be inferred from the duties outlined above is, collaboration with all constituents of the Department of the Defense in the direction of providing the best recommendation regarding resolution of the tensions over the South China Sea. Even before the current economic crisis deepened, growth in the U.S. PC market had begun to slow down. Despite strong competition from Dell and Hewlett Packard, Acer s U.S. market share increased from 1 percent in 2004 to 3.3 percent by the end of 2006. Analyze Acer s prospects for gaining further share in the United States. I believe the biggest reason for this is that Acer put a stronger focus on the consumer market versus the business market. Companies such as Dell were much more focused on the business market during this time period while Acer was offering low priced PC s to consumers. I also think Acer s lean supply chain allowed them to enter the U.S. market with substantially lower ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. Nike Economic Recession In my opinion, if the sales volume were starting to suffer due to an economic recession, it would be absolutely necessary to change the corporate strategy. This is particularly true if the recession may have long term effects. One of the primary areas a recession affects in terms of products is the price. The current corporate strategy adopted by Nike is clearly geared towards the higher end of the market, and such a strategy may not be sustainable if consumers are searching for value in a market recession. Therefore, a change in corporate strategy would involve cost cutting, either from sponsorships or by reducing stores overheads. A change in the market, as significant as a recession, requires a new strategy for organizations in ensuring ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. The, Liberals And The Neo Orthodox Throughout the Church history, details in which to interpret Scripture and the place of it, has been debated among major groups for centuries. Three major groups that all read and interpret scripture to a different standard are the Evangelicals, Liberals and the Neo Orthodox. Each group holds the Scriptures sacred in their own way, but not everyone agrees to the others use. The first group was the Liberals. The Liberals were by far the most unique of these three groups because were prepared to disregard standard traditions to get to a more contemporary way of practicing their faith. One way they did this was in the way they looked at scripture. When reading Scripture, they did not see it as inspired in the same way that other groups did. Typically, across denominations, most everyone views scripture with the most authority because it is God s Word and they believe that the text is directly from God s mouth, but the Liberals didn t see it that way. They believed that Christianitywas meant to change as time progressed. For example, they believed many of the statements that are made throughout the Bible, both New and Old Testament, were not meant to be the standard in which Christians were to be held at today because times have changed and changes in beliefs are to be made as society and culture changes. The next group was the Evangelicals. Evangelicals were a group that was predominantly popular in England. Evangelicals are by far the most traditional, but not in way ... Epilepsy Is A Central Nervous System Disorder ( Cns ) Introduction Epilepsy is a central nervous system disorder(CNS) causing recurrent seizures and can only be defined when there is at least one epileptic seizure.[1][2] John Hughlings Jackson, a notable British neurologist proposed that epilepsy is an occasional, an excessive and a disorderly discharge of nervous tissue . About 65 million people(1% of the human population) in the world have epilepsy and the cases account for 80% in developing countries. [3][4] In this essay, the normal physiology of nerve transmission in cerebral cortex and pathophysiology of epilepsy will be discussed. The mechanism of action of valproate is also studied and how it leads to the treatment of epilepsy. Normal Physiology of Nerve Tranmission in Cerebral Cortex The body system that is affected by epilepsy is CNS which is consisted of the brain and the spinal cord.[5] (Figure 1) Figure 1 The major divsions of CNS[5] The brain has a part called the cerebral cortex(gray matter) which is made up of 3 to 6 layers of neurons.[7] A neuronhas three parts namely axon, dendrites and cell body.[6] Neurons are classified as principal(projection) neurons and interneurons. It can be used to trace the reasoning behind many interactions between these two spheres of the world. It is also the basis of one of the most controversial foreign policy operations of the United States, Operation Ajax. Although Operation Ajax happened sixty years ago, its consequences had immediate and lasting effects on both Iranand American Iranian relations. I will argue that the coup led to the 1979 Islamic revolution and consequently put into motion the strained relations between Iran and the United States; it also had significant effects on both the United States and Iran s political history. I will cement my argument by giving a detailed account of Operation Ajax and the players involved in it as well as giving descriptive examples of why it happened as well as how it continues to have a lasting effect. In the primary years, students ought to be grounded with the basics. Once they miss this window, it requires them more to be trained later in life. I marvel at the speed of our technology advancement, but how I desire to see academic advancement in our next generation. Kindergarten teachers always earn my greatest respect. In California, the class size has increased to 22 students for kindergarten to third grade. One teacher versus 22 students, coming from different background and educational level, really is a big challenge for another to take. Given that some students have gone through preschool and some who have never had any group experience prior to entering kindergarten, that creates a gigantic tap among the kids in one class. The first couple months into the school year, teachers would spend the majority of time establishing structure, routine, and disciplines. Without these being taken place in the beginning of the year, teaching is almost an impossible task to accomplish. The class size needs to be limited to maximize the discipline and the learning, or another option is to have a teacher s aid in the class to assist the lead teacher. • 49. The Theory Of Ladenness s Theory Essay The theory of ladenness has been debated amongst philosophers for hundreds of years. The theory of ladenness debates whether one s past experiences affect their perceived inputs or their interpretation of those inputs. Kuhn strongly believes that one s experiences affect what they perceive, however Hanson provides strong evidence suggesting that what people perceive as their surroundings are indistinguishable, but their interpretations differ. While there is evidence to support both theories, I believe that Hanson better provides evidence by showing the strength of his theory while correspondingly arguing the flaws in Kuhn s theory. To understand the theory of ladenness, we need to differentiate between perceptionand interpretation. Perception is the process where we become aware of our surroundings, while interpretation is the process were our minds absorb the information and comprehend it using information and experiences we have accumulated. Despite their differences, these two functions are essentially related. Together they allow us to become aware and react to our surroundings. We are constantly perceiving and subconsciously reacting to our surroundings, without any cognization. However, when we are presented with a problem, we force ourselves to use a deeper level of cognitionto think through the problem. This mindful use of our cognitive abilities is what interpretation is, the application of our past experiences to comprehend what he have perceived. Rather than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Lord of the Flies a group of British schoolboys are stranded on an island. DNA was written in period of post modernism where metanarratives such as religion have declined and society has fragmented, engendering the formation of our own beliefs and choices. This is significant in Kelly s writing about good and evil as his ideas are often more ambiguous and inquiring than Golding s. Additionally it enables Kelly to explore the flaws and strengths of humanity on a wider and more open spectrum, in which he voices a cornucopia of theories and perspectives. This is supported by the fact that Kelly wrote DNA in the style of dialectical theatre and it can be read in the style of the playwright Brecht who focused on involving his audience in his exploration of theories. He uses theatrical conventions such as rhetorical questions to consciously draw the audience to comment on matters of science and the nature of humanity good and evil. In comparison to Lord of the Flies (which offers a far more assured depiction of humanity) the role of the play is not to simply present us a story, yet to compel audience members to question the many issues raised on our nature as it progresses.
