The Differences Between The Arab People Of Arabia And...
Culture in Syria With the United States being involved in Iraq and Afghanistan, we as soldiers learn a
completely new type of culture. We also know that in each of the two countries that their way of living
is different from each other even though their religion is same. This is true throughout the world and
that is what makes it hard for one to understand why there cannot be more cohesion between
countries. The same true of Syria. The way they live day to day and worship is different from either of
the other two countries, despite that they are an Islamic country. The Syrian people are different in the
approach to people, economy, government, and cultural life.
Ethnic and Linguistic The people of Syria draw their influence from several origins over a long
period. The Greeks and Romans ethnic influence was negligible. The people of Arabia and
Mesopotamia left their influence on what we see today. Even though the Turks, Greeks, and Romans
influenced the political and economic structures of Syria, they could not change in the dominant Arab
character of the Syrian people. Ninety percent of the population speaks the official language, which is
Arabic. There three other languages that are spoken in the country and they include Kurdish,
Armenian, and Circassian. Some ancient languages are still present today in the country. They include
Maalua, Aramaic, and Syriac, also English and French are used, but that is from speaking with
tourists.

Essay On Gun Control Laws
Gun Control laws are ineffective and have no positive effect on the rate of shootings. Gun control laws
give criminals an advantage over law abiding citizens because these laws prevent non criminals from
arming themselves. If these laws were revised or lifted there would be a dramatic decrease in gun
related crimes throughout the country.
To start, Do you think that criminals follow laws? Gun control laws are put in place to reduce gun
related crime, but yet there is an increased rate of gun related crime in states that have gun control
laws. This is clearly illustrated by Chicago having the highest gun related death rate in the country, but
also has some of the strictest gun control laws. Aren t gun control laws supposed to cut down on the
number of shootings? These laws are obviously not accomplishing their intended purpose and are
instead hindering the law abiding citizen from owning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Someone who has a ten round magazine in an AR 15 (A semi automatic rifle that has a detachable
magazine that can hold 10 30 bullets depending on the size of the magazine and has the same cosmetic
design as an M 16) can be just as lethal as someone with a .45 caliber semi automatic pistol that also
has a ten round magazine. It only takes one bullet to take a life and unless we ban all semi auto
firearms with magazines of any kind we will not be able to avoid giving a shooter multiple attempts to
take a life. Even if they did take away all firearms under that category there will always be the black
market and dishonest people will always be able to get a firearm, no matter how hard laws are
enforced. There is no perfect solution for control of mass shootings. We need to focus on how we can
prevent people who are not qualified to own guns from obtaining firearms. This population of people
would include people with prior convictions and history of mental health

Review Of Liam O Flaherty s The Sniper
Liam O Flaherty wrote short stories and was a leader in the Irish literary renaissance (Biography.com
Editors, n/a). After two mental breakdowns, it became obvious that O Flaherty was mentally ill. The
mental illness was believed to have come from an injury received while enlisted in the Irish Guards.
Once the war had ended, O Flarherty moved to the U.S. and lived in Hollywood for a brief time.
While his stories have common themes of Ireland and nature, some of his best works were written in
Irish (Bloomsburry Publishing Plc, n/a). According to Michael J. Cummings (2007) Liam s The Sniper
is set in 1922, in Dublin, which is Ireland s largest city, after the Irish Free State had been established,
and during a civil war. O Flaherty wrote

The Historical Jesus, Jesus as Messiah, and Jesus the...
Jesus Christ, the figure who changed history more than any other, did many miracles to show others
that he was God s son. God gave Jesus power over nature, power over disease, and even power over
death. As a young Christian, my knowledge was a little understudied, to say the least. Now, as this
module comes to a close, I realize that I have learned so much! While writing this summary paper, I
intend to discuss my understanding of the historical Jesus, Jesus as the Messiah, and Jesus as the
Personal Savior. About two thousand years ago God arranged the most humiliating circumstances
possible for his incarnation into humanity. Jesus was born to a teenage virgin named Mary and her
husband Joseph.
The Annunciation is the revelation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Mary arrived, Elizabeth s baby leaped in her womb for joy. This confirmed Gabriel s prophecy
that John would have the Holy Spirit even before birth (New Advent, 2006)
Joseph considered calling off the marriage after learning that Mary had conceived. Gabriel appeared to
Joseph in a dream and told him to marry her because the conception was caused by the Holy Spirit.
Joseph took Mary as his wife and kept her a virgin until Jesus was born.
Joseph took Mary to Bethlehem to register for a census. While there, Mary gave birth to Jesus. She
laid him in a manger because there was no room at the inn. Shepards visited Jesus there.
Later, wise men brought gifts to Jesus. They told Herod the Great, a wicked king, that Jesus would
rule Israel. Herod sent soldiers to kill the children in Bethlehem. Warned by an angel, Joseph took his
family to Egypt. After Herod died, they returned to Israel and raised Jesus in a town called Nazareth.
Jesus grew up in Nazareth. The Bible gives us a little information about his childhood. Jesus was
taken to Jerusalem for Passover when he was twelve. He spoke with the teachers at the Temple, who
were amazed at his understanding (Life of Christ, 2006). Joseph was a carpenter, and taught Jesus the
trade. Jesus worked as a carpenter until his ministry began. He was about thirty years old at the time.
Jesus taught people how to live godly lives. As he traveled around Israel, Jesus taught with sermons
and parables. He

Living In The Trenches Diary Entry
This past couple months have been a very hard time for me. I can t say it enough about how much I
miss the United States. Living in the trenches have been one of the most hardest time in my life.
Seeing all the dead bodies and see and the helpless has made me think about how lucky I am to be
alive and writing this letter to you. A lot of my friends that I was talking to this morning have been
killed or wounded. I can no longer see them and talk with them. It is a shame for all the people I know
who have sadly gotten killed. These people stood up and fought for their country. The weather here
has also been a pain to deal with. Having all the rain be collected into these trenches had made this
war a lot more hard. When I first saw

The Territorial Dispute Of China
We must first ask ourselves what is the territorial dispute, that we have today and why is it important
to understand this dispute and learn about it, as political analysts we must learn to look at the broader
picture that is given to us, and take a look at all aspects before formulating a contingency plan to avoid
any unnecessary military actions or starting a war.
Referring to the map we see what China claims as their territory, we see the area defined by the
dashed lines, which stretches hundreds of miles all the way south and east from Chinas most southern
province of Hainan. Now China claims that this territory it claims comes from 2000 years of history
where the small islands of Paracels and Spratlys have been regarded as an integral part of China. That
is because China has a strong sense of irredentism towards the South China Sea. Irredentism is any
movement to reclaim a land that was once theirs, by justifying that the land or territory they want to
reclaim has always been theirs and it is only right to have it back citing either real or imagined historic
events or tying it with an ethnic affiliation. Today the South China Sea has become more and more of
a global issue, with the U.S navy presence the increasing demands of natural resources is also a key
factor as to why a country such as China wants to claim the South China Sea. China depends heavenly
on gas and oil, and the notion of unclaimed land and resources in the South China Sea is too great of
deal to

Pro Choice And Pro Life
Abortion has been one of the biggest controversies of all time. Many people believe that women
should get to decide what she would do with her body. The definition of abortion is; The termination
of pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus or embryo prior to being capable
of normal growth . Abortion is one of the most controversial topics today. Although there are two sides
of the debate pro choice and pro life, arguments are mainly centered around the Roe v. Wade decision,
women s rights and state restrictive laws. Women faced many difficulties before Roe V. Wade case.
After the case the court made abortions available to women in the United States. Some consider
abortions immoral, which is why abortion is a heavy topic. People believe in misconceptions that are
based off of skewed facts (Abortion ProCon). They believe it is a problem that must be stopped but
stopping one problem will cause bigger problems such as deaths from illegal abortion, women and
children dying from starvation. Making abortions illegal will not stop anything, women might go back
to getting unsafe and illegal abortion resulting in many deaths. Pro choice believers support the right
to privacy and the idea women should have the choice to do what she pleases with her own body. For
example; a woman is raped by a man and becomes pregnant with his child. She decides she doesn t
want to keep the baby; she has an abortion because mental affect her if she has to look at the baby of

Brief Summary Of Psycho s Unfiltrate The Army
The time for the Master is at hand and Alessandra has ordered that the shifters are to be exterminated
permanently. For us to infiltrate the castle we will need to overwhelm them with greater numbers. I am
not interested in taking any prisoners, kill them all. Psycho shouted to the crowd giving the best war
cry so that he could in an attempt raise the confidence level and work them up into an uncontrollable
rage. Nearly all the raids that Psycho had launched against the shifters have come as a total surprise
because Psycho s men were notorious for lying in wait in an ambush position by using the woods as
cover and waiting for people walking along established roads much as a crocodile would wait under
water for an animal to come and drink ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These swords were designed for slashing and cutting and not for thrusting, so the blades had to be
carefully sharpened while leaving the tip relatively dull. He thought that if they were confronted by
legitimate forces in raids they could create a wedge formation, with their biggest and strongest men at
the front of the wedge. They would rush this wedge through the enemy lines where they could engage
in hand to hand combat, which was their forte. But the wedge formation would only serve as a
distraction because the real plan is while the shifters are concentrating all their efforts to defend the
gate at the front of the fortress an advanced scouting party will be well under way at digging out the
dirt from underneath the castles back wall to weaken its foundation and pull it down with an entire
squad of swordsmen and archers that will flood into the courtyard from behind and catching the
shifters by surprise. Psycho s military tactics succeeded mainly because he ignored common
battlefield tactics, methods, and customs of the time such as ignoring the unspoken rule of warfare that
gave holy sites immunity from becoming a battle site. He had always thought that the battleground
always picked you and that you never get to choose where or when a battle might break out, even if it
means trampling on the ground of long ago dead

The International Relations Theory That Best
The international relations theory that best explains Operation Provide Comfort would be the
constructivist theory. However, Turkey s involvement in the operation may also be explained through
subaltern realism. The fact that the nations that comprised the coalition, save for Turkey, conducting
Operation Provide Comfort went through the official channel of the UN shows that the intention was
to act within the norms of the international community for conducting humanitarian interventions.
Had the US decided to act unilaterally, without permission from the other states involved or the UN, it
strongly indicate that the US self interests superseded those of the global community. Furthermore, the
coalition of western powers respected Turkey s sovereignty by keeping the refugees at the border and
providing aid in refugee camps there. Respecting a nations sovereignty, or giving reasonable cause for
violating it, is an essential portion of constructivism as it indicates that states respect the artificially
implemented restraints on themselves that they have set up. Beyond the evidence that strongly
suggests that OPC was conducted in the sphere of constructivism, there is little evidence that would
support any other international relations theory. In a constructivists perspective, the mission devolved
from an international system based operation to a more realists military intervention when it became
Operation Norther Watch (to compliment Operation Southern Watch.) This idea is

an appropriate disinfection container holding the EPA registered disinfectant for the required time.
This will be at least ten minutes or the time stated in the manufacturer s instructions. It s always best
to set a timer than it is to guess. Remember to open all hinged implements before immersing them in
the disinfectant. After the required disinfection time has passed, remove all tools and implements from
the disinfection solution with tongs or gloved hands. Rinse the tools and implements well in warm

Invictus By Earnest Henley
The poem Invictus by William Earnest Henley is a poem that the audience can easily relate to. Its
talking about how they must overcome the trials that they have in life. Invictus is a lyrical poem
containing four stanzas with the rhyme scheme: ABAB CHCH EFEF GBGB. This poem was written
in the late 1800 s, but the meaning of this poem is everlasting and can be used even now in the present
and the future. Which is why this is one of the most known poems in the literature world. The way
Henley gets his outstanding message across in Invictus is portrayed through different elements of

A metaphor is a figure of speech in which a word or a phrase is compared to an object or action that
otherwise wouldn t be the same. In using metaphors this elevated the images and emotions that are
described by the author. Out of the night that covers me (1) is the first metaphor that will be read in
the poem. Night is represents the feeling of suffering and pain that the author is trying to describe
during this poem. Also Night could be referring to the darkest part of the day which would be
comparing night to the worst that is to come. The next example of a metaphor is in the third stanza.
Looms but the horror of the shade (10). By saying that, shade is an unexpected life event. Shade could
also be used to foreshadow the incidents that are to come. That will create a trail that one must
overcome. The last example of a metaphor is also found in the third stanza. And yet the menace of the
years Finds, and shall find, me unafraid (11,12). The term menace of the years signifies the coming of
age. Then Henley states that he is not scared of the upcoming years. In the lines of Invictus he also
helps the reader to visualize the emotions and pains that he is going through. Henley does a really
good job of expressing the character trait of bravery. This relates to another figure of speech that he

when people had wrong intentions towards him. Severian was deprived of women, which resulted in

The Pros And Cons Of Euroscepticism
Although contestation of the European integration process has been present since its inception; such
opposition has traditionally been marginal and in the minority. The term Eurosceptic means in the
broadest understanding of the term being opposed to increasing the powers of the European Union,
which is the much simpler definition of a very complicated phenomenon.
It can be traced back to British political discourse where it originated in the mid 1980s to describe
positions and opinions in the debates concerning European integration. Euroscepticism as a
phenomenon truly gained momentum with the Maastricht Treaty (1992). Indeed, before 1992,
opposition was very peripheral or temporary among the elites (Leconte 2010; Lindberg and

Indeed, different contexts, cultures, preoccupations, circumstances, etc., all influence the answers
provided by the citizens. Subsequently, Krouwel and Abts (2007) designed a bi dimensional approach
bringing together the target and the degree of popular discontent. Sørensen (2008) establishes four
types of Public Euroscepticism which are as follows: economic, democratic, sovereignty driven and
socio political. The second trend in research concentrates on determining the factors that instigate anti
EU attitudes. Researchers commonly make an argument for the impact of ideology and strategies of
political parties as a probable cause.
Mudde and the School of North Carolina (2011) argue that party politics traditions, especially the
division between parties and their position towards European integration are at the core of Eurosceptic
sentiments. The Sussex School puts forward evidences that the reasons are linked to nation specific
characteristics such as the electoral system, the structure of the party system, etc. Even though there is
no interaction between the two schools, recent research shows that both approach are concomitant

Psychodynamic Approach To Psychology
Behaviourists explain maladaptive behaviour in terms of the learning principles that sustain and

approach to psychology. I will subsequently outline how behaviourist theory can provide therapists
with some insight into both the causes of maladaptive behaviour and how that behaviour might be

At first the rat would run up blind alleys in the maze but with experience it gradually learned how to
negotiate the maze to find the food more quickly.
Behaviourists like Skinner believed that the principles involved in these learning processes were
applicable to people and underpin complex human behaviour. Skinner proposed that behaviour
changes as a result of its consequences and that behaviour is also reinforced by reward. Behaviour that
is reinforced will also increase in frequency Skinner suggested. Similarly, he argued, negative
reinforcement works in the same way as positive re inforcement. For example, if a loud noise is made
every time a rat pokes its nose through its cage, the rat would stop doing it. He promoted the idea that
as humans are just another species, giving praise for desirable behaviour in a child would reinforce
that behaviour in the same way that getting food by pressing a lever in a box would reinforce
behaviour in a rat.
Skinner went further by suggesting that there is no such thing as free will; he called it the principle of
determinism, the assertion that all human behaviour is determined by what went before. Skinner s
hypotheses created widespread debate amongst psychologists and not surprisingly, his critics pointed
out that humans are very different to animals and that results from experiments conducted on rats in a
laboratory couldn t just be applied to human behaviour. Behaviourist critics reasoned

Common Themes In The Sixth Sense And Spoon River Anthology
The movie The Sixth Sense and the book Spoon River Anthology delve into life and death through
different ways but share the same themes and ideas. The common themes and ideas in both are: do not
leave unfinished business, learn to face problems not run away from them or take the easy way out
and lastly, listen to other people because they want what is best for you.
The Sixth Sense and Spoon River Anthology share a common theme. The theme is finish what you
started so you have no regrets. In The Sixth Sense, Malcolm, the main character, finished what he
started even though he was dead. In the beginning, Malcolm, the doctor, gets shot by Vincent Grey

An example of this theme is found in The Sixth Sense when the doctor said the ghosts are not trying to
hurt you, they only want your help. The next time Cole saw a ghost he decided to help her. While
attending a funeral for a little girl, he encountered the her ghost and she offered him a box. Previously,
when Cole saw a ghost he would get frightened and run away from whatever ghost that was
attempting to communicate with him. This time Cole had confidence and was not afraid of the little
girl who gave him the box. Inside the box was video of the little girl who died having a puppet show.
The girl forgot to stop the camera so the video continued recording and showed the mother giving the
little girl some type of poison. If Cole did not have the confidence to help the ghost, then no one
would have known how the girl actually died. Because of Cole facing his ability to see ghosts, he was
able to help the little girl. In Spoon River, many people had problems and choose to find an easy
solution which caused more problems. For example, Nancy Knapp had inherited a farm after a relative
died and began having many problems with the farm: sickness of the cattle, failing crops, and a
lightning strike. The farm was mortgaged which made the husband worried. Overwhelmed, Nancy set

Essay on An Annotation of Wallace Stevens Of Modern Poetry
An Annotation of Wallace Stevens Of Modern Poetry
In Of Modern Poetry, Stevens describes the purpose of modern poetry given what the audience knows
and values. Modern poetry must be different from traditional poetry, because people of his time
perceive themselves and their world differently than the people of earlier times. Stevens suggests that
war, like other changes, have affected what people believe. Poetry must reflect to its audience what
they want to hear. It must show them that the order, meaning and value they need is real, in so much as
their minds both need it and can create it.

Stevens first points out how modern poetry differs from traditional poetry. The implication is that
people are now questioning some fundamental aspects of intellectual constructs that used to be
considered necessary and true. In particular Stevens questions tradition of reading the book of nature,
of starting with religious presumptions and assuming nature communicates these ideas to humans.
Other traditions had changed as well thoughts about the social roles of men and women and social

the development of new values. The rest of the poem records the change that occurs after traditional
assumptions are uprooted.
The past was a souvenir because once people realized that certain traditions could be changed, they
had no reason to believe those traditions had to be the standard. Like a souvenir, the scene and the
script became only a reminder of where people had been, it has no practical use for the present. Once
people conceived of a new stage, a new script, a new way of thinking, it had to be experimented with.
They valued experimentation, because they did not have a required standard. They valued finding

Quiet American Quotes
In The Quiet American, Phuong s character is seen but not heard. Unlike Adah, it is unknown if she
had a supportive father in her life. At the start of the novel, Phuong is introduced as Thomas Fowler s
lover; an English reporter living in Vietnam. I shut my eyes and she was again what she used to be:
she was the his of steam, the clink of a cup, she was a certain hour of the night and the promise of rest
(Greene 4). In this quote Phuong is being reduced to the sexual pleasure she once gave Thomas
Fowler. As a man, he had the power to subject her to such descriptions as she had no freedom to object
that sort of behavior. Being a woman, especially a colonized woman, Phuong experiences double
persecution. Throughout the novel she is spoken about in third person, as though she had no ... Show

For Phuong, her Vietnamese culture is compromised when she altered her physical appearance after
starting her relationship with Pyle. I saw that she was doing her hair differently, allowing it to fall back
and straight over her shoulder, I remembered that Pyle had once criticized the elaborate hairdressing
which she thought become the daughter of a mandarin (Greene 4). This quote illustrates how a man,
like Pyle had dominance over Phuong in such a way that she changed her hair and way of dress
because he preferred it that way. In Adah s case, mingling with the Western women around her gave
her more insight as to what her rights were in her marriage with Francis. Once she finds out that
Francis had been cheating on her she confronts the situation in an effort to protect her children. The
greatest mistake an African could make was to bring an educated girl to London and let her mix with
middle class English women. They soon know their rights (Emecheta 241). For Francis, Adah getting

How Did Clara Barton Discovered The American Red Cross
Clara Barton I may be compelled to face danger, but never fear it, and while our soldiers can stand and

the American Red Cross and led it for twenty years. Not many people value this women because at the
time women weren t able to teach or help during the Civil War. Clara was an unstoppable woman
because no matter what the consequence was she did what she had to do. Clara Barton is a giving and

turning point in time: bravery, caring for others, and the unstoppability she had when it came to
helping others in need. Clara Barton impacted me because she has done many similar things in her

Barton did so many positive things in this world that didn t involve just caring and helping with the

Innovation In Child Care Essay
This research expects to identify a process of innovation suitable for individuals in a community
context. In this process, this study will examine various psychological and social issues having
profound influences on people to be innovative. However, an issue related to the understanding of the
meaning of innovation won t be overlooked, which remains vague and ambiguous. The latter will help
to gain philosophical insights of the concept, and will contribute to developing a generalized definition
of innovation. The former will enhance individuals dexterity in the process of achieving innovation.
The concept of innovation originates in Greece during the fifth century BC with a pejorative meaning
(Godin, B., 2012, working paper no.12). In contrast, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the process of innovation is closely linked to the understanding of innovation whether it is
an act of bringing changes or consequence of an action which represents changes. It is easily
understandable that any particular action does not ensure the same outcome but may bring changes,
and all changes are not considered innovation. So, it is imperative to develop a clear understanding of
the concept for proposing a generalized process of innovation.
The contextual focus of this study will contribute to bringing innovation in child care services by
assisting child care workers to be innovative, which will reduce the gap between the services offered
by child care workers and the services expected by other stakeholder groups.
Academically, this study will contribute to resolving a century old puzzle associated with the research
on innovation. An adequate and generalized understanding of innovation and the process of innovation
appears eminent for satisfying the epistemological, ontological and methodological inquiries

(ESSAY QUESTION #1)
Assessment of the Establish Civil Security (LOE) and the linkage to the overall end state: The overall
depiction of the Establish Security LOE is both accurate and relevant to the end state of producing a
safe and secure environment. However, the order of decisive points within the LOE is out of order and
could develop complications of achieving the end state if not properly structured. Currently, the
decisive points within the Establish Civil Security LOE focus emphasis on protecting the
populace/infrastructure, disarming insurgents, clearing explosives, and recruit/train security forces to
successfully achieve a safe and secure environment. In contrast, the reordering of the decisive points
within the Establish Civil Security LOE will allow for a greater chance of success if executed
accordingly. Therefore, it is imperative that the Establish Civil Security LOE should reestablish the
decisive points as follows, thus ensuring both ease of transition as well as local security success.
(Recruit/Train Security Forces, Protect the Populace, Disarm Insurgents, Clear Explosives) If executed
in this order the ease of achieving a safe and secure environment is much more feasible.
Changes and adjustments to the LOE with justification: I recommend front loading (recruit/train local

Cruelty And Cruelty In The Country Of Iraq
I am writing to inform you of the cruelty going on in the country of Iraq. I have been traveling the
country as a photographer and I have managed to earn the trust of Iraqi soldiers who are performing
acts of torture on prisoners. According to the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq, Iraq has one of the
world s oldest cultural histories, boasts a rich heritage and has a long reflected cultural diversity.
Although Iraqis generally are a religious and conservative people, there are strong secular tendencies
in the country. (See Fig. 1)

Torture has always been apart of Iraq s along with many other countries cultures. Even though Iraq
has been a part of the Iraqi people s history, it still goes against the rights of men and women to be
imprisoned with no probable cause and then tortured until the government or another individual can
get information out of the prisoners whether it is true or not.
In Kenny Paul D. article The Meaning of torture , he states that torture is the action or practice of
inflicting severe pain on someone as a punishment or to force them to do or say something. There are
many different types of torture from rape, to both physical and mental torture. According to Mosul
Torture Exposed, prisoners in Iraq were hung from the ceiling with their arms tied behind their backs.
The men and women who are imprisoned, are whipped, shocked, raped, and the Iraqis who were
performing the torture would add weights to the men s backs that they hung from the ceiling. (See Fig.
2) The Iraqi soldiers also threatened the men s families by saying that they would kill or rape the
women if they did not confess to the crimes the men had committed, whether the accusations were
true or not. Fig. 2. Man who has been hung from the ceiling to be tortured by Iraqi soldiers. Mosul

Henando Cortez And The Spanish Conquest Of The Aztecs
In the 15th century, the Europeans set sail from their home countries in hopes of finding new routes to
use for trade. After a few wrong turns, the Americas were discovered and the rumor of the wealth the
Mesoamerican civilizations had attracted the Europeans. The Spanish were the first to set out on an
expedition to conquer this New World every one was speaking of. Henando Cortez was the Spanish
conqueror that led the expedition to the Americas, where the Spanish would encounter the Aztec
empire. The Aztec empire was settled around their capital, Tenochtitlan, and was surrounded by
towering pyramids and a network of canals spanned by bridges (Hofstadter 11). The Aztecs were
disciplined people with standardized laws that provided structure to their empire. For their time
period, the Aztecs were advanced in ways such as having knowledge of astronomy and accurate
calendars. The Aztec empire had a long future ahead of them until Cortez landed at Vera Cruz in April
of 1519 with soldiers and weapons that the Aztecs had never seen before. Cortez and the Spanish
would conquer the Aztec empire after their capital fell to Cortez in 1521 resulting in an Aztec
surrender. The Aztecs suffered a great number of deaths from the conquest and almost all that was left
was women and children. During the conquering of the Aztec empire the Spanish discovered the
practice of human sacrifice. This significant discovery was first brought to the attention of the Spanish
after the Aztec ruler,

Macbeth Guilt Essay
William Shakespeare s Macbeth is a tragedy in which the plot evolves in great accordance to the guilt
that the individual characters feel. The guilt starts with the planning and execution of the murder of
King Duncan. To this event Lady Macbeth and Macbeth react in different ways. They both become
guilty in some way or another but the guilt they feel is comprised of different reasons. It is due to their
differences in character that they react in the ways they do. While it might not seem like both of them
become guilty after this event, when explored their actions show clearly the guilt they feel.
When Macbeth and Lady Macbeth decide to kill Duncan they both have different reactions. Lady

Macbeth starts off as a brave man who is physically capable of a lot, but is mentally very weak.
Whereas Lady Macbeth is limited physically by her sex, but believes that she is mentally stronger than
Macbeth. As the play pans out we are able to make our own judgment on each characters strengths and
weaknesses. In the unsex me scene Lady Macbeth tells us that she wants to be changed from being a
weak woman so that she can replace Macbeth who is mentally weak with her own mental strength in
order to successfully become the king. After the killing of Duncan Lady Macbeth accidently hints that
she was unable to kill Duncan herself and at this point shows her first signs of mental weakness. After
this point they basically change places, Lady Macbeth becomes and insignificant and weak character
in the play, who spirals downwards into insanity. She grows so ill that the doctor says there s nothing
he can do to help her. The disease, he says, is beyond his practice, and what Lady Macbeth needs is
the divine (a priest or, God), not a physician . On the other hand Macbeth steps up and plans for
himself to murder many more people as his mental strength has significantly grown. Lady Macbeth s
transformation from that of a powerful and unnaturally masculine figure into an enfeebled woman
reestablishes a sense of natural gender order in the play. In other words, Lady Macbeth is put in her

Importance Of Six Sigma
The goal of Six Sigma is to increase profits by eliminating variability, defects and waste that
undermine customer loyalty. (iSixSigma, 2016)
Six Sigma can be understood/perceived at three levels:
Metric: 3.4 Defects Per Million Opportunities. DPMO allows you to take complexity of
product/process into account. Rule of thumb is to consider at least three opportunities for a physical
part/component one for form, one for fit and one for function, in absence of better considerations.
Also, you want to be Six Sigma in the Critical to Quality characteristics and not the whole
unit/characteristics.
Methodology: DMAIC/DFSS structured problem solving roadmap and tools.

My Goals For This Class Based On The Sensory And Diangelo...
My goals for this class based on the Sensory and DiAngelo reading were to focus less on grades and
more on understanding of the concepts, the second was to strive for intellectual humility by accepting
what I do not know and being open to the concepts I do not know, my last goal was to learn from my
reactions towards subject material the may have bothered me by journaling or researching more about
the topic. (Sensory DiAngelo, 2012) These goals I set for the class were met at times, but at other
times I feel that I did not meet these goals as well as I intended to. The first goal to focus less on
grades was mostly met. I found myself not caring about the grades, but then when I had trouble with a
concept or I found myself taking longer to understand what was being asked of me in the homework
assignment I began to feel like my mark would suffer or that I would get a really bad mark, and
although I never got a very terrible mark, I did find myself focusing on it too much at times. I found it
was easier to focus less on the grade at the beginning and at the end of the semester, so I just need to
work on managing my stress in the middle of the semester to keep myself from nitpicking my grades.
I did find that when I did have the time to write out notes for the readings or even just having notes in
the margins it helped me understand and my grades then reflected that, so for the future I will have to
remember to keep that in mind. For the second goal, which was to strive

Comparing The Tao Te Ching And The Art Of War
Tao Te Ching and the Art of War
The Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu in the Tao Te Ching formed the apparent root of Sun Tzu s
philosophies and a core of traditional Chinese philosophical thought. Tao Te Ching means the Way of
Life. The philosophies described within the Tao Te Ching provide the formation of the Taoist religion
and the Taoist philosophy prominent in China during Sun Tzu s time. Like the Art of War, scholars
estimate the Tao Te Ching to be about 2,500 years old.
The Tao Te Ching has influenced Eastern views of the world similarly to the way the Bible influenced
Western ideology. Lao Tzu was not a pacifist and understood that war may be unavoidable. ¬¬¬ The
Tao Te Ching expressed its belief that military triumph be synonymous to a funerary service. This
message would have difficult for Sun Tzu, as war was seen as a procession of death.
The Tao Te Ching and Art of War were both masterfully crafted to provide a strategy to achieve
hegemony over subordinates. The best way to control is through minimal interference and by keeping
the people simple minded. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Identity of the Satyricon s Author
An issue which has been debated by scholars for centuries, the identity of the Satyricon s author can
be seen to be resolved through Tacitus obituary of one Petronius, an adviser to the Emperor Nero on
taste and luxury. Petronius, according to various sources, was celebrated at Rome for his refined taste
which attracted the attention of the Emperor Nero; however his high position in Roman elite society
was eventually taken away because of Tigellinus conspiracies and machinations. The Satyricon itself
contains many references to contemporary figures and events that allow us to date the text to the time
when Nero was Emperor, and the content and tone of the novel suggest to the reader that Petronius is
the ideal author of this vast, impressive work, of which we only have fragments. It is especially
important to note the economic, social and political background of the text and the many intertextual
allusions in the novel. Tacitus obituary of Petronius offers details that correspond to the Satyricon in a
persuasive and convincing manner. This essay will examine the evidence that supports the theory that
Tacitus Petronius wrote the Satyricon, in addition to some of the arguments to the contrary.
It is important to consider any other external references made to the text and to Petronius by Roman
authors, and the credibility of these sources. Petronius is referred to as elegantiae arbiter (judge of
excellence) in Tacitus and there is mention of a Petronius Arbiter in

Legalizing Concealed Weapons May Deter Crime Essay
Legalizing Concealed Weapons May Deter Crime
A concealed weapon is a firearm hidden on a person. Thomas Jefferson once wrote that laws that
forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit
crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather
to encourage than to prevent homicides for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence
than an armed man (Lee 147). In Florida, 315,000 permits had been issued to citizens for concealed
weapons by December 31, 1995. Only five have been revoked because the permit holder committed a
violent crime with a gun ( Kopel 129).

They estimate that each year in the United States there are about 2.2 to 2.5 million defensive gun uses
by civilians (Kleck 112).
Some common arguments are that it is more dangerous to have a gun in the house than to go unarmed.
They say that if you confront an armed bugler in your house you are more likely to be harmed if you
show force than if you don t. Another argument is that gun makers should know that their products
might be used in a crime and should be liable if they are used to hurt someone. Anything can be
wrongfully used. Cars, guns, hammers, ice picks, computers the list just keeps going. Only the person
using the tool is responsible for how it s used.
Excessive gun control has an opposite effect on crime rates. Data from Dr. Gary Kleck, a Florida State
University Criminologist, suggests that total ban on handgun possession increases crime rates.
Kennesaw, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta, passed a city gun ordinance in 1982 that requires heads of
households (with certain exceptions) to keep at least one firearm in their homes. During the law s first
years, crimes against people, including homicide, rape, armed robbery, aggravated assault, and
residential burglary, plummeted 74 percent compared to 1981, then dropped another 45 percent in
1983 compared to 1982.
Some of Colorado s handgun laws state that it is unlawful for any person under 18 to possess a
handgun, and it is unlawful to provide or permit a juvenile to posses a handgun.

  • 2. The Differences Between The Arab People Of Arabia And... Culture in Syria With the United States being involved in Iraq and Afghanistan, we as soldiers learn a completely new type of culture. We also know that in each of the two countries that their way of living is different from each other even though their religion is same. This is true throughout the world and that is what makes it hard for one to understand why there cannot be more cohesion between countries. The same true of Syria. The way they live day to day and worship is different from either of the other two countries, despite that they are an Islamic country. The Syrian people are different in the approach to people, economy, government, and cultural life. Ethnic and Linguistic The people of Syria draw their influence from several origins over a long period. The Greeks and Romans ethnic influence was negligible. The people of Arabia and Mesopotamia left their influence on what we see today. Even though the Turks, Greeks, and Romans influenced the political and economic structures of Syria, they could not change in the dominant Arab character of the Syrian people. Ninety percent of the population speaks the official language, which is Arabic. There three other languages that are spoken in the country and they include Kurdish, Armenian, and Circassian. Some ancient languages are still present today in the country. They include Maalua, Aramaic, and Syriac, also English and French are used, but that is from speaking with tourists. • 3. Essay On Gun Control Laws Gun Control laws are ineffective and have no positive effect on the rate of shootings. Gun control laws give criminals an advantage over law abiding citizens because these laws prevent non criminals from arming themselves. If these laws were revised or lifted there would be a dramatic decrease in gun related crimes throughout the country. To start, Do you think that criminals follow laws? Gun control laws are put in place to reduce gun related crime, but yet there is an increased rate of gun related crime in states that have gun control laws. This is clearly illustrated by Chicago having the highest gun related death rate in the country, but also has some of the strictest gun control laws. Aren t gun control laws supposed to cut down on the number of shootings? These laws are obviously not accomplishing their intended purpose and are instead hindering the law abiding citizen from owning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Someone who has a ten round magazine in an AR 15 (A semi automatic rifle that has a detachable magazine that can hold 10 30 bullets depending on the size of the magazine and has the same cosmetic design as an M 16) can be just as lethal as someone with a .45 caliber semi automatic pistol that also has a ten round magazine. It only takes one bullet to take a life and unless we ban all semi auto firearms with magazines of any kind we will not be able to avoid giving a shooter multiple attempts to take a life. Even if they did take away all firearms under that category there will always be the black market and dishonest people will always be able to get a firearm, no matter how hard laws are enforced. There is no perfect solution for control of mass shootings. We need to focus on how we can prevent people who are not qualified to own guns from obtaining firearms. This population of people would include people with prior convictions and history of mental health ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Review Of Liam O Flaherty s The Sniper Liam O Flaherty wrote short stories and was a leader in the Irish literary renaissance (Biography.com Editors, n/a). After two mental breakdowns, it became obvious that O Flaherty was mentally ill. The mental illness was believed to have come from an injury received while enlisted in the Irish Guards. Once the war had ended, O Flarherty moved to the U.S. and lived in Hollywood for a brief time. While his stories have common themes of Ireland and nature, some of his best works were written in Irish (Bloomsburry Publishing Plc, n/a). According to Michael J. Cummings (2007) Liam s The Sniper is set in 1922, in Dublin, which is Ireland s largest city, after the Irish Free State had been established, and during a civil war. O Flaherty wrote ... • 8. The Historical Jesus, Jesus as Messiah, and Jesus the... Jesus Christ, the figure who changed history more than any other, did many miracles to show others that he was God s son. God gave Jesus power over nature, power over disease, and even power over death. As a young Christian, my knowledge was a little understudied, to say the least. Now, as this module comes to a close, I realize that I have learned so much! While writing this summary paper, I intend to discuss my understanding of the historical Jesus, Jesus as the Messiah, and Jesus as the Personal Savior. About two thousand years ago God arranged the most humiliating circumstances possible for his incarnation into humanity. Jesus was born to a teenage virgin named Mary and her husband Joseph. The Annunciation is the revelation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Mary arrived, Elizabeth s baby leaped in her womb for joy. This confirmed Gabriel s prophecy that John would have the Holy Spirit even before birth (New Advent, 2006) Joseph considered calling off the marriage after learning that Mary had conceived. Gabriel appeared to Joseph in a dream and told him to marry her because the conception was caused by the Holy Spirit. Joseph took Mary as his wife and kept her a virgin until Jesus was born. Joseph took Mary to Bethlehem to register for a census. While there, Mary gave birth to Jesus. She laid him in a manger because there was no room at the inn. Shepards visited Jesus there. Later, wise men brought gifts to Jesus. They told Herod the Great, a wicked king, that Jesus would rule Israel. Herod sent soldiers to kill the children in Bethlehem. Warned by an angel, Joseph took his family to Egypt. After Herod died, they returned to Israel and raised Jesus in a town called Nazareth. Jesus grew up in Nazareth. The Bible gives us a little information about his childhood. Jesus was taken to Jerusalem for Passover when he was twelve. He spoke with the teachers at the Temple, who were amazed at his understanding (Life of Christ, 2006). Joseph was a carpenter, and taught Jesus the trade. Jesus worked as a carpenter until his ministry began. He was about thirty years old at the time. Jesus taught people how to live godly lives. As he traveled around Israel, Jesus taught with sermons and parables. He ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Seeing all the dead bodies and see and the helpless has made me think about how lucky I am to be alive and writing this letter to you. A lot of my friends that I was talking to this morning have been killed or wounded. I can no longer see them and talk with them. It is a shame for all the people I know who have sadly gotten killed. These people stood up and fought for their country. The weather here has also been a pain to deal with. Having all the rain be collected into these trenches had made this war a lot more hard. • 10. The Territorial Dispute Of China We must first ask ourselves what is the territorial dispute, that we have today and why is it important to understand this dispute and learn about it, as political analysts we must learn to look at the broader picture that is given to us, and take a look at all aspects before formulating a contingency plan to avoid any unnecessary military actions or starting a war. Referring to the map we see what China claims as their territory, we see the area defined by the dashed lines, which stretches hundreds of miles all the way south and east from Chinas most southern province of Hainan. Now China claims that this territory it claims comes from 2000 years of history where the small islands of Paracels and Spratlys have been regarded as an integral part of China. That is because China has a strong sense of irredentism towards the South China Sea. Irredentism is any movement to reclaim a land that was once theirs, by justifying that the land or territory they want to reclaim has always been theirs and it is only right to have it back citing either real or imagined historic events or tying it with an ethnic affiliation. Today the South China Sea has become more and more of a global issue, with the U.S navy presence the increasing demands of natural resources is also a key factor as to why a country such as China wants to claim the South China Sea. China depends heavenly on gas and oil, and the notion of unclaimed land and resources in the South China Sea is too great of deal to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The definition of abortion is; The termination of pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus or embryo prior to being capable of normal growth . Abortion is one of the most controversial topics today. Although there are two sides of the debate pro choice and pro life, arguments are mainly centered around the Roe v. Wade decision, women s rights and state restrictive laws. Women faced many difficulties before Roe V. Wade case. After the case the court made abortions available to women in the United States. Some consider abortions immoral, which is why abortion is a heavy topic. People believe in misconceptions that are based off of skewed facts (Abortion ProCon). They believe it is a problem that must be stopped but stopping one problem will cause bigger problems such as deaths from illegal abortion, women and children dying from starvation. Making abortions illegal will not stop anything, women might go back to getting unsafe and illegal abortion resulting in many deaths. Pro choice believers support the right to privacy and the idea women should have the choice to do what she pleases with her own body. For us to infiltrate the castle we will need to overwhelm them with greater numbers. I am not interested in taking any prisoners, kill them all. Psycho shouted to the crowd giving the best war cry so that he could in an attempt raise the confidence level and work them up into an uncontrollable rage. They would rush this wedge through the enemy lines where they could engage in hand to hand combat, which was their forte. But the wedge formation would only serve as a distraction because the real plan is while the shifters are concentrating all their efforts to defend the gate at the front of the fortress an advanced scouting party will be well under way at digging out the dirt from underneath the castles back wall to weaken its foundation and pull it down with an entire squad of swordsmen and archers that will flood into the courtyard from behind and catching the shifters by surprise. Psycho s military tactics succeeded mainly because he ignored common battlefield tactics, methods, and customs of the time such as ignoring the unspoken rule of warfare that gave holy sites immunity from becoming a battle site. • 14. The International Relations Theory That Best The international relations theory that best explains Operation Provide Comfort would be the constructivist theory. However, Turkey s involvement in the operation may also be explained through subaltern realism. The fact that the nations that comprised the coalition, save for Turkey, conducting Operation Provide Comfort went through the official channel of the UN shows that the intention was to act within the norms of the international community for conducting humanitarian interventions. Had the US decided to act unilaterally, without permission from the other states involved or the UN, it strongly indicate that the US self interests superseded those of the global community. Furthermore, the coalition of western powers respected Turkey s sovereignty by keeping the refugees at the border and providing aid in refugee camps there. Respecting a nations sovereignty, or giving reasonable cause for violating it, is an essential portion of constructivism as it indicates that states respect the artificially implemented restraints on themselves that they have set up. Beyond the evidence that strongly suggests that OPC was conducted in the sphere of constructivism, there is little evidence that would support any other international relations theory. In a constructivists perspective, the mission devolved from an international system based operation to a more realists military intervention when it became Operation Norther Watch (to compliment Operation Southern Watch.) Night is represents the feeling of suffering and pain that the author is trying to describe during this poem. Behaviourists like Skinner believed that the principles involved in these learning processes were applicable to people and underpin complex human behaviour. Skinner proposed that behaviour changes as a result of its consequences and that behaviour is also reinforced by reward. Behaviour that is reinforced will also increase in frequency Skinner suggested. Similarly, he argued, negative reinforcement works in the same way as positive re inforcement. For example, if a loud noise is made every time a rat pokes its nose through its cage, the rat would stop doing it. He promoted the idea that as humans are just another species, giving praise for desirable behaviour in a child would reinforce that behaviour in the same way that getting food by pressing a lever in a box would reinforce behaviour in a rat. Skinner went further by suggesting that there is no such thing as free will; he called it the principle of determinism, the assertion that all human behaviour is determined by what went before. Skinner s hypotheses created widespread debate amongst psychologists and not surprisingly, his critics pointed out that humans are very different to animals and that results from experiments conducted on rats in a laboratory couldn t just be applied to human behaviour. Essay on An Annotation of Wallace Stevens Of Modern Poetry An Annotation of Wallace Stevens Of Modern Poetry In Of Modern Poetry, Stevens describes the purpose of modern poetry given what the audience knows and values. Modern poetry must be different from traditional poetry, because people of his time perceive themselves and their world differently than the people of earlier times. Stevens suggests that war, like other changes, have affected what people believe. Poetry must reflect to its audience what they want to hear. Other traditions had changed as well thoughts about the social roles of men and women and social propriety; thoughts about religious values and scientific discovery; nature and purpose of communication resulting from new inventions. Even though Iraq has been a part of the Iraqi people s history, it still goes against the rights of men and women to be imprisoned with no probable cause and then tortured until the government or another individual can get information out of the prisoners whether it is true or not. In Kenny Paul D. article The Meaning of torture , he states that torture is the action or practice of inflicting severe pain on someone as a punishment or to force them to do or say something. Macbeth starts off as a brave man who is physically capable of a lot, but is mentally very weak. Whereas Lady Macbeth is limited physically by her sex, but believes that she is mentally stronger than Macbeth. As the play pans out we are able to make our own judgment on each characters strengths and weaknesses. In the unsex me scene Lady Macbeth tells us that she wants to be changed from being a weak woman so that she can replace Macbeth who is mentally weak with her own mental strength in order to successfully become the king. After the killing of Duncan Lady Macbeth accidently hints that she was unable to kill Duncan herself and at this point shows her first signs of mental weakness. After this point they basically change places, Lady Macbeth becomes and insignificant and weak character in the play, who spirals downwards into insanity. She grows so ill that the doctor says there s nothing he can do to help her. The disease, he says, is beyond his practice, and what Lady Macbeth needs is the divine (a priest or, God), not a physician . On the other hand Macbeth steps up and plans for himself to murder many more people as his mental strength has significantly grown. Lady Macbeth s transformation from that of a powerful and unnaturally masculine figure into an enfeebled woman reestablishes a sense of natural gender order in the play. My goals for this class based on the Sensory and DiAngelo reading were to focus less on grades and more on understanding of the concepts, the second was to strive for intellectual humility by accepting what I do not know and being open to the concepts I do not know, my last goal was to learn from my reactions towards subject material the may have bothered me by journaling or researching more about the topic. (Sensory DiAngelo, 2012) These goals I set for the class were met at times, but at other times I feel that I did not meet these goals as well as I intended to. The first goal to focus less on grades was mostly met. I found myself not caring about the grades, but then when I had trouble with a concept or I found myself taking longer to understand what was being asked of me in the homework assignment I began to feel like my mark would suffer or that I would get a really bad mark, and although I never got a very terrible mark, I did find myself focusing on it too much at times. I found it was easier to focus less on the grade at the beginning and at the end of the semester, so I just need to work on managing my stress in the middle of the semester to keep myself from nitpicking my grades. I did find that when I did have the time to write out notes for the readings or even just having notes in the margins it helped me understand and my grades then reflected that, so for the future I will have to remember to keep that in mind. For the second goal, which was to strive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Comparing The Tao Te Ching And The Art Of War Tao Te Ching and the Art of War The Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu in the Tao Te Ching formed the apparent root of Sun Tzu s philosophies and a core of traditional Chinese philosophical thought. Tao Te Ching means the Way of Life. The philosophies described within the Tao Te Ching provide the formation of the Taoist religion and the Taoist philosophy prominent in China during Sun Tzu s time. Like the Art of War, scholars estimate the Tao Te Ching to be about 2,500 years old. The Tao Te Ching has influenced Eastern views of the world similarly to the way the Bible influenced Western ideology. Lao Tzu was not a pacifist and understood that war may be unavoidable. ¬¬¬ The Tao Te Ching expressed its belief that military triumph be synonymous to a funerary service. This message would have difficult for Sun Tzu, as war was seen as a procession of death. • 36. The Identity of the Satyricon s Author An issue which has been debated by scholars for centuries, the identity of the Satyricon s author can be seen to be resolved through Tacitus obituary of one Petronius, an adviser to the Emperor Nero on taste and luxury. Petronius, according to various sources, was celebrated at Rome for his refined taste which attracted the attention of the Emperor Nero; however his high position in Roman elite society was eventually taken away because of Tigellinus conspiracies and machinations. The Satyricon itself contains many references to contemporary figures and events that allow us to date the text to the time when Nero was Emperor, and the content and tone of the novel suggest to the reader that Petronius is the ideal author of this vast, impressive work, of which we only have fragments. It is especially important to note the economic, social and political background of the text and the many intertextual allusions in the novel. Tacitus obituary of Petronius offers details that correspond to the Satyricon in a persuasive and convincing manner. This essay will examine the evidence that supports the theory that Tacitus Petronius wrote the Satyricon, in addition to some of the arguments to the contrary. It is important to consider any other external references made to the text and to Petronius by Roman authors, and the credibility of these sources. Thomas Jefferson once wrote that laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man (Lee 147). In Florida, 315,000 permits had been issued to citizens for concealed weapons by December 31, 1995. Some common arguments are that it is more dangerous to have a gun in the house than to go unarmed. They say that if you confront an armed bugler in your house you are more likely to be harmed if you show force than if you don t. Another argument is that gun makers should know that their products might be used in a crime and should be liable if they are used to hurt someone. Anything can be wrongfully used. Cars, guns, hammers, ice picks, computers the list just keeps going. Only the person using the tool is responsible for how it s used. Excessive gun control has an opposite effect on crime rates. Data from Dr. Gary Kleck, a Florida State University Criminologist, suggests that total ban on handgun possession increases crime rates. Kennesaw, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta, passed a city gun ordinance in 1982 that requires heads of households (with certain exceptions) to keep at least one firearm in their homes. During the law s first years, crimes against people, including homicide, rape, armed robbery, aggravated assault, and residential burglary, plummeted 74 percent compared to 1981, then dropped another 45 percent in 1983 compared to 1982.
