Learning outcomes
• Identify major layers of the earth’s interior
rock types layers of the atmosphere in a
diagram .
• Locates distribution and extent of different
climatic regions on the world map or globe .
• Explains preventive measures to be
undertaken in event of disaster Eg Earthquake
floods and draughts

• Describe the formation of landforms due to
various factors
• Explain composition and structure of atmosphere
• Describe different components of environment
and the inter relationship between them.
• Analyse factors contributing to pollution in their
surrounding and list measures to prevent it
• Show sensitivity to need of conservation of
resources like water ,air , energy ,flora and fauna
and concept of sustainable development

• Engage with key concepts like ecosystem, atmosphere
disasters, weather , climate, climatic regions etc, using
meaningful explanations and appropriate resources
• Discuss and share observations and experiences
regarding various aspects of environment e.g.,
components of natural and human made environment,
flora and fauna in different ecosystems / climatic
regions ,kinds of pollution , sources point and non
point sources of pollution sources of fresh water in
their surroundings

• Use diagrams /models / visuals audio visual
material for understanding interior of the
earth formation of different types of
landforms movements of water on surface

RATIONALE
teachers have lot of challenges in teaching environmental
science , as it includes both natural social and cultural i used
maps charts and diagrams to show them physical part and
told them stories for humanistic environment
It is very difficult to inculcate the concept of concern and
belongingness towards environmental issues like pollution
global warming and climatic change it needs lot of
explanation , i tried to show them diagram with images and
on YouTube a shot documentary on environment and asked
them what they learn from it
At last i facilitated them by giving them authentic online
resource to watch as an assignment and have a discussion on
it next day over it

  • 1. SUBJECT: SOCIAL SCIENCE CLASS: 6Th TOPIC : OUR ENVIRONMENT BY IQBAL BHAT
  • 2. Learning outcomes • Identify major layers of the earth’s interior rock types layers of the atmosphere in a diagram . • Locates distribution and extent of different climatic regions on the world map or globe . • Explains preventive measures to be undertaken in event of disaster Eg Earthquake floods and draughts
  • 3. Learning outcomes • Describe the formation of landforms due to various factors • Explain composition and structure of atmosphere • Describe different components of environment and the inter relationship between them. • Analyse factors contributing to pollution in their surrounding and list measures to prevent it • Show sensitivity to need of conservation of resources like water ,air , energy ,flora and fauna and concept of sustainable development

Assessment techniques Content and pedagogical process • Engage with key concepts like ecosystem, atmosphere disasters, weather , climate, climatic regions etc, using meaningful explanations and appropriate resources • Discuss and share observations and experiences regarding various aspects of environment e.g., components of natural and human made environment, flora and fauna in different ecosystems / climatic regions ,kinds of pollution , sources point and non point sources of pollution sources of fresh water in their surroundings

RUBRIC Criteria Beginner Improving Good Excellent Demonstration Could not understood about environment Had a little concept about Hydrosphere and lithosphere Had basic concept about environment and its components Answered quarries about environment Recognition Was not in a position to recognise the images shown to him and the queries asked to him Few queries and images recognised Had a bit of knowledge and recognised the things in a better way Perfectly explained each picture shown to him and every question asked to him Explanation Was not able to explain about environment Explained a little but did not having full concept and had doubts while explaining Explained the things in a better way has very few doubts while explaining and the key concepts were clear Gave full explination about the environment its components and its relation to human beings pollution and all

RATIONALE teachers have lot of challenges in teaching environmental science , as it includes both natural social and cultural i used maps charts and diagrams to show them physical part and told them stories for humanistic environment It is very difficult to inculcate the concept of concern and belongingness towards environmental issues like pollution global warming and climatic change it needs lot of explanation , i tried to show them diagram with images and on YouTube a shot documentary on environment and asked them what they learn from it At last i facilitated them by giving them authentic online resource to watch as an assignment and have a discussion on it next day over it
