2. Police Officers Wear Body Cameras
Should Police Officers Wear Body Cameras Ken Davis Liberty University Abstract The pedigree of
this literary review will outline some of the dimensions and elements that provide empirical research
by reliable researchers using reliable methods. The purpose of this paper is threefold. The first purpose
is to review the communication and organizational literature on authority in order to illustrate how
police brutality assist and continues to evolve. The Federal government does not allow brutality

the Great Depression law enforcement has been used by local, state, and federal government agencies
authority to enforce the law and preserve justice (Yamato, 2011). U.S. law enforcement officers,
security guards, and other officials like judges and prosecutors have been given tremendous power.
The resolution of the law enforcer is to assert justice and ensure the constitutional rights of all citizens
are upheld. However, police misconduct is regularly reported: excessive force, sexual assaults, false
arrest, fabrication of evidence, deprivation of property and failure to keep from harm. Excessive force
is when law enforcement officers are allowed to use whatever force is reasonably necessary (Federal
Bureau of Investigation, (2015). Consequently, disagreement between the police and the citizens are
escalating. For over a century the United States citizens have been involved in some sort of opposition
with law enforcement. Nearly all citizens, no matter what their race, nationality, and origination have

3. The Role Of Superheroes In The Film Guardians Of The Galaxy
What is a superhero? Some would argue that a superhero is a benevolent fictional character with
superhuman powers, such as Superman. Although this definition holds some truths, there is so much
more when delving into what a superhero actually is. Superhero s are people that make immense
sacrifices, take extraordinary risks, and take the initiative to help make a society a better place for the
greater good. Guardians of the Galaxy, a film produced by James Gunn, did a fantastic job at
accurately portraying the true meaning and expectations of our superheroes, all while maintaining a
fun and enjoyable film above the deeper meanings.
In the beginning of the film, you are introduced to the protagonist, Peter Quill, as he is watching his

family s death, Groot who is a talking tree that can only say I am Groot and we are Groot and last but
not least there is Peter Quill, the protagonist. All these members or Guardians end up saving a planet
from total destruction, not because of their own ambitions, but because they felt and understood that it
was the right thing to do. In the process of saving a planet, each hero reveals the traits listed above,
especially Groot the least expected Hero. In the film, there is a scene where the Guardians are in a ship
that is about to crash and Groot sacrifices himself by forming a cocoon around each member
protecting them from the ship impact with the ground. This is the ultimate sacrifice that any superhero

5. Erasmus s Abuse Of The Catholic Church
A Dutch man named Erasmus was one of the first to become angered with the Church about its
abuses. Erasmus was greatly displeased, but not displeased enough to leave the Church. Martin Luther
(a German professor, composer, priest, and monk) tagged in where Erasmus left off and became the
father of the Reformation. Luther argued that there were many issues within the Roman Catholic
Church which he outlined in his Ninety five Thesis. Some of these included the abuses of the Church,
the opulence of the Church, and the overemphasis of good works. Martin Luther recognized and
brought to attention the abuses of the Catholic Church. One of these was the selling of Church offices.
Men were allowed to offer the Church a great sum of money to have a Church office such as a Bishop.
Once they were in office long enough, they were able to regain the money they invested in the
position and more. The Church was also selling indulgences, in which a person could supposedly
exchange money for the forgiveness of his or her sins. Luther a, lso believed that the Pope and Rome
had excessive power. Furthermore, Luther brought the opulence of the Church to attention. The
Catholic Church advocated giving to the poor and helping the less fortunate, yet the Church leadership

Luther struggled with his religion while Catholic, but then he came to believe that the Church should
be more based on scripture. During his intense bible study, he came to the conclusion that due to Jesus
dying on the cross, everybody had been saved. By this standard, the good works emphasized by the
Church were meaningless. He also believed that the sacraments were overemphasized. For example,
the sacrament of Confession cannot save you since it is a personal work, and during the sacrament of
the Eucharist, the process of transubstantiation does not

A lot people work very hard and struggle through life trying to be the very best at every single thing

Some people just try to get by and go through the motions, often not getting the education they they
are rightfully entitled to. This is the type of mentality that Mike Rose discusses in his narrative I Just
Wanna Be Average. Throughout the narrative, Rose shares personal experiences of mistakenly being

As a former competitive dancer, I know that the best part about dance for children is also the worst
part for the parents: costumes. For the kids, costumes are exciting and are a symbol of all the hard
work they put into their training this year. However, for parents, costumes are a financial burden
added on after paying a years worth of tutition costs.
What if I told you there was a way for you to please both your students and their parents and get high
quality costumes at affordable prices? It sounds to good to be true, but that s exactly what we do at

Background, Problem, and Purpose Costumes On Call is a dance costume rental system that allows

it take time to sift through costume catalogues to find a piece that speaks to your dances vision, but
you also need to consider the costs. Costumes can cost upwards of $75 each, which isn t too steep of a
charge for a child in one class. However, most children take anywhere from 2 to 10 classes a year.

I wake up to thunder and rumbling, its dark and my body feels as if its falling though the sky. There
are screams of terror that could only belong to the 200 people surrounding me. Confusion only lasted
a few seconds before I remember I m on an airplane to Hawaii; and right now it is most likely flying
over the Pacific Ocean. The oxygen masks drop and I struggle to strap it to my head. The turbulence is
incredibly disorienting and so many questions are running through my head right now; why did this
happen to me , and will I survive this? . Five minutes ago I was on my way to paradise and now I m
headed straight for the water. This almost seems similar the TV series Lost, but they all crash landed

The reason I was heading to Hawaii was for a job with one of the leading facilities in marine biology,
the national institute of oceanographic research. I was planning on studying the effects of global
warming temperature changes on the coral reefs close to the shore of Honolulu. One of the things I am
most passionate about is the environment, and any chance I get to understand what is constantly
damaging it, I take that prospect. On the off point of work, I had planned to take a helicopter around
the island, one thing I find absolutely amazing is how vast the world is. This job has only been my
goal since I wanted to start in marine biology and now I have the chance to, but the moment of clarity
ends and the screams return. I look to my left and there is a couple embracing each other, hoping and
praying for survival. They were my inspiration now, and I too prayed for the mercy of God. Within
split second, all the lights go out and its pitch black, you can hear suit cases and bags crashing from
the overhead compartments. I had no sense of direction at this time, the only thing I knew was where
the front and back of the plane are. I look back and I realized I don t know where the back of the plane

9. Genocide In The Cambodian Genocide
Genocides are defined as a large group of killings often of a specific ethnic group or nation. Genocides
targeting specific groups happen all over the world. Sometimes they are well known, while in other
cases they are hidden and not published as much. Unlike the Holocaust, The Khmer Rouge Regime
caused a smaller scale genocide in the heart of Cambodia. Beginning in the late 1960s the Khmer
Rouge Regime came into power. Their leader Pol Pot committed atrocities, killing a little over two
million innocent people. Pol Pot believed that this new society was becoming evil. He decided to
bring the city of Phnom Penh back to the middle ages with communal farming. He murdered every
intellectual of the country. He killed anyone who had any education, or even worse, glasses. He
isolated the city and everybody in it. There are many stories coming from the victim s point of view
and how they felt as 2.2 million of their own were killed. There are also reasons of why the
Cambodian government s committed this atrocity. Finally, there are the views from America and its
feelings towards watching the genocide go down from outside the country. Looking through all of
these different lenses of this genocide help get a big picture of how and why something so horrific
could have happened.
In Cambodia in the 1960s The Khmer Rouge Regime rose to power, which lead to the Cambodian
genocide in the 1970s. Pol Pot, the leader of this group, believed in a new country without evils. He
describes evils such as money and religion as the cause for the corrupt and terrible world he lives in.
Pol Pot s goal was to bring Cambodia back to the middle ages. Pol Pot dreamed of a perfect Cambodia
in which the society build a prosperous and happy Cambodian society in which all enjoy equality,
happiness and a society free from all class or individual forms of exploitation, in which everyone
strives to increase production and to defend the country (pg 415) . He began enforcing communal
farming as a new way of living. Pol pot states When we have rice, we can have everything is their
slogan (Journal of Contemporary Asia pg 414). Pol Pot along with the rest of the Khmer Rouge
Regime believed strongly in the perks that come out of farming. They

10. Makeup, Beauty, Makeup, Disney, And Dreams
When someone asks me, a teenager, what 3 things I love or interest me I reply with makeup, anything
Disney, and dreams. The reason I love all these things is because they all correspond with one another.
Disney is where all your dreams come true, makeup is a thing that you put on to make yourself look
and feel like a dream. Disney is all about crazy makeup to make people look a certain way for
characters such as, villains, heroes, and damsels in distress, for you to remember them, maybe even in
your dreams. Makeup is a way to define your features and make you feel more beautiful like the girls
in Disney movies.
Makeup only used to be for men and women to enhance their beauty. Now makeup is still used for
that very same reason but it s for themselves, because they aren t trying to impress anyone but
themselves. From 3000 B.C. men wore wigs and makeup to make them more eye catching. All women
would use makeup to make themselves prettier and so did men. The egyptians were the first people to
create cosmetics. They wore it for special occasions like festivals or celebrations. They also would put
themselves at risk because of the things they were putting on there face to make them look more
beautiful. Things like: using burnt matches for eyeliner, they would use berries for their lip stains, they
would try to make their face paler (because it was deemed more beautiful that way) with leeches,
arsenic, mercury and lead (Gardner). They didn t have to do that though because Disney

Many people prefer to enroll their kids in the private universities to have better employment in the
future. Also, there is a reputation that the private universities help enter the professional and academic
world. Graduates of private universities are always preferred by any potential employers. This is
because graduates of these private universities are supposed to have better education. The private
universities tend to have competitive admissions processes than those of the public universities (Ban,
2012). So, private universities keep a high degree of academic excellence and they are reputed by this
advantage. The private universities have their great prestige so this helps graduates in the marketplace.
The universities have positive weight in the students minds of the future potential employers. The
employers always like to hire students graduated from private universities as they know that such
universities present highly qualified curricula. These private universities make students capable of
getting good jobs in the future. These private universities provide with effective classroom resources
as well as strong technology (Neil Kokemuller, 2014). So, the private universities are more
prestigious. This may depend highly on the university itself. This can be an advantage for students if

12. Using A Virtual Private Network ( Vpn )
Section 1.0
The world is constantly changing especially in technology. Each day new software and hardware is
created to accomplish tasks that were not possible before. These new software s and hardware s offers
new problems to come with these new accomplishments. Businesses are constantly looking for ways
to make their employees more efficient. Allowing employees to communicate not just in the office,
but remotely is being a requirement at this day and time.
This company could make use of a Virtual Private Network (VPN) that routes through the firewall.
The VPN would allow easy access to the company network for authorized employees. A VPN would
allow the company to have employees that telecommute, work from home, or remote employees. It
would allow our employees that travel frequently like salesmen to connect from anywhere they may
be. The VPN would allow for a more flexible work day, and help work get done when it needs to be
done instead of during normal business hours. The VPN will run through the company firewall to help
limit the traffic through to legitimate business traffic.
The company must first be aware and understand the risks of a VPN and firewall. This knowledge will
help the company make the right decision for this technology. A VPN and firewall solution is different
for every network, and must be customized to this company s network. There is also risks to not using
these tools. It is important for the company to see this risks as well, so

13. Analysis Of Madden 18
Madden 18 Review If you ever watch a NFL football game you know how the fans get loud and crazy
about their team. You see all the lights and excitement from people who love the game. Madden 18 is
the perfect game for football lovers who just can t get enough of just watching it on Sunday. Madden
came a long way from the old gameplay and graphic. To becoming one of the best sports game that hit
the market. With the new edition to madden being the all new story mode. Fans of all ages were
thrilled to purchase the game and try out the new game mode. If you compare last year madden 17 to
the new madden you would see that the game style of offense and defense on the field did not change.
The play calling and the playbooks are the similar as well. Madden 18 bring excitement with the
cutting edge graphic, smooth gameplay, restructured franchise mode, and the new first person mode
called The Longshot. Tom Brady have the honor to grace the game with being on the cover of madden
18. Being on the cover derives with the madden curse but Tom Brady is the greatest of all time
(G.O.A.T) therefore he can overcome the curse. In addition, the graphic if you played the previous
madden you can see how they improve into eye catching graphic. The start of the game you have play
as the Atlanta Falcon and try to repeat history and go against the New England Patriot. When you look
at the graphic you can see how EA took their time to get flawless graphic. Once the game starts you
can see the shine off the players helmets when the lights hit it. Another thing that stuck out was when
the referees are on the field calling the penalties you can see the improve lifelike graphics. Also the
uniforms have jumped out at me as well. Looking at the neon green of the Seahawks jersey and the
lively orange the broncos wear on the field shows they put a lot of time and patience behind the
graphic. Furthermore, the new addition to the madden game comes with three new game styles and
new passing to get down the field. It is the first time they have three different game choices. Arcade
mode is filled with spectacular play, limited penalties, and lots of scoring. Simulation mode play true

14. What Is The Theme Of Symbolism In O Dajain By O Faolin
Furthering the impression of Gypsy s liminality is the sense that her identity is withheld. Her clothes
are another indicator of how her identity has been stripped in the same way her clothes are removed,
Holding her clothes about her body she stepped to the corner of the lodge and looked across at the
blazing house (32). Clothes are an indicator of class, personality and therefore identity. By merely
holding them about her body she bears no identity. Later in the text, she is stripped of a voice also.
Whereas she had previously been very vocal and furiously passionate, she becomes completely silent
once her grim fate is presented to her: she said not a word now (72). This silence aligns her with the
discourse of subalterity as it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rootlessness seems to be something O Faoláin is advocating for, both for the new opportunities it can
afford as well as the release it provides from this claustrophobic, unwelcoming community. Aidan
Arrowsmith reinforces this opinion, maintaining the need for escape from the static conservatism of
the Catholic Nationalist Free State (131). Gypsy and Henn both suffer from an identity which has been
forced upon them. Henn is repeatedly described as a madman (11), while Gypsy is an object for sexual
control. While their position marginalises them, it also generates a need for a new sense of identity
and rootedness stability which they may find in Paris. This optimism may be misplaced, but it cannot
be denied that O Faoláin is offering liminality as something to be reconsidered and re engaged with.
As Susan Cahill maintains, the liminal can be a productive space where history, identity and memory
can be reimagined and rearticulated (Liminal Borderlands, 9). O Faoláin endeavours to do exactly that

22. Group Of Emotion In Monet
According to Claude Monet, a famous impressionist artist, It s on the strength of observation and
reflection that one finds a way. So we must dig and delve unceasingly. (as cited by Kendall, 2004). As
artwork is chiefly depicted in many different ways, such as in natural, spiritual, objective, or
subjective description, Monet believes that a plein air painting style can convey such profound
feelings to audiences based on thorough observation and comprehension (Perry, 1927). Thus, there are
four groups of emotion in Monet s paintings, which are serenity, loneliness, confusion, and joy. The
first group of emotion in Monet s paintings is serenity. Serenity is a state in which people are liberated
from anxiety or stress of daily hassle. Monet, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Joy is an emotion that reflects the fulfilment of human s desires involving the relationship. Monet, in
general, depicts the happiness in his paintings based on a group of people and a nature as a subject
matter (Stuart, 1916). A group of people represents love and caring between friends with an
impressively intimate conversation. They share a moment of laughter while reminiscing the hilarious
action of their friends. Furthermore, the beautiful nature around them, such as the flower bushes and
the small trees, is depicted in a vividly bright tone of color as responded to the joyful moment of
people. While, the their clothes are depicted in a more natural shade of color, such as blue and green.
These colors imply that their feelings toward one another are perceptibly real and sincere as a natural
color (Fitzgerald, 1905). The emotion of his paintings is mostly described in an amiable atmosphere of
a group of people that shares a similar taste in particular subject (Fitzgerald, 1905). Monet paints them
with the reminiscent emotion of his colleagues helping and supporting him through difficult times
(Borgmeyer, 1912). A wonderful example of joyful moments in Monet s paintings is Le Déjeuner sur l
herbe or known as The luncheon on the Grass (Isaacson, 1972). The subject matter is a group of
people having lunch together amid the beautiful nature. The colors in this painting include a natural
shade of yellow, green, and blue. The painting represents the amiably delightful atmosphere of friends
sharing food and beverage (Isaacson, 1972). In summary, joy is the final group of

23. Hr Planning Factors Affecting Managment And Talent Policy
I) HR planning factors affecting resourcing and talent policy
Three organisational benefits of a diverse workforce
Increased productivity:
Diversity increases employee morale, and causes employees, who feel valued and fairly treated, to
work more efficiently. Besides, a mix of experiences, skills, backgrounds bring fresh ideas and
encourage employees to learn from each other, which lead to a greater productivity.
Broader customer base and market competitiveness:
A diverse workforce is well placed to understand the needs of a wide range of customers and interact
with a broad client base.
Positive employer branding:
Diversity is seen favourably by many and improve the public perception of the brand, and draw new
talent in.

Staffing efficiency: as LPQ deals with a high turnover and solutions must be identified.
Factors that affect an organisation s talent planning, recruitment and selection policy
Internal factors include
Business objectives: these may involve expansion, modernisation and bring a change in demand for
the number of staff it employs.
Culture: for instance gamekeeper organisations make efforts to hold onto and grow the talent they
have while poacher organisations recruit readymade replacements. Or organisation committed to CSR
will take into account the needs of the local community in their recruitment. Then values (e.g.
teamwork, CSR) can draw new talents in and retain staff. Finally recruitment methods are chosen to
project the right image.
External factors include:
Economy: for instance recession requires organisations to cut cost and often lead them to develop
more talent in house and retain rather than recruit talent, and an increase for temporary and contract
workers.
Supply and demand: if there is a limited supply, the organisations may depend upon internal sources
by providing training and development programs, or may have to pay more to attract recruits or may
plan to recruit less skilled employees and train them. II) Job analysis: Job description and Person

starts by speaking specifically of the University of Missouri. Concerned Student 1950, which is a
student led activist group, worked to demand changes in the systematic racism that they witness on
campus. As their protest gained more media attention, it led to the university s president resigning; and
they have started a nationwide movement.
Over 100 universities had rallies and demonstrations. The article also highlights the different protests
on fourteen different campuses across the country. Many of the students asked for equality on
campuses, others asked that buildings be renamed, and for racial discrimination on campus to be
addressed.

26. The Ambivalence of Direct Democracy Essay
The California Constitution states, All political power is inherent in the people. Government is
instituted for their protection, security, and benefit, and they have the right to alter or reform it when
the public good may require. (CA Const. art. 2, sect. 1) Indeed, the age old maxim that the government
is for the people is evident in California s Constitution, and the inception of direct democracy by the
early 20th century Progressive movement follows this ideology. The 2nd article of California s
constitution includes three forms of direct democracy: the initiative, referendum, and recall.
Respectively, these forms of direct democracy grant electors the power to propose statutes and
amendments, adopt or reject statutes and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Direct democracy s initiative sounds appealing in theory, but realistically, history has shown that the
average voter is incapable of truly assessing the effects and repercussions of these ballot proposals.
This is clearly exemplified by Proposition 13, an initiative that, as author Isaac Martin states, became
a nationwide symbol of tax revolt (Martin). Proposition 13 essentially set the property tax rate to 1%
and stated that the assessed value of homes could not exceed the 1975 76 assessed value. This reduced
taxes by about 57% (californiataxdata.com), a truly drastic decrease, which translates to a loss of $7
billion in property taxes during the 1978 79 fiscal year (McCaffery Bowman, 530). Consequently,
Proposition 13 led to intense repercussions; the huge decreases in finances forced local agencies to
look for funding elsewhere, and severe cuts were made. The Los Angeles Times conducted a survey of
70 southern school districts and found that two thirds of them had eliminated or sharply curtailed
summer school. Also, Long Beach school sent layoff notices to nearly half of its staff of teachers, and
by June 28th there was a total of 3,252 estimated layoffs with 165,000 imminent layoffs. The
repercussions continued, with prices escalating to cover the decline of financing. And ironically,

27. I Am Reviewing Eminem s Latest Album Marshall Mathers Lp2
I am reviewing Eminem s latest album Marshall Mathers LP2. This album is a revisitation of Marshall
Mathers LP. It is rumored to be his final public work and fortunately for his fans provides closure for
some of the themes from MMLP. The song Bad Guy in MMLP2 is told from the perspective of a
crazed fan s little brother Michael and it provides closure for the song Stan from MMLP. The second
track Parking Lot is a continuation from Criminal in MMLP. Between the second and third verses of
Criminal lays a skit about Em robbing a bank and then Parking Lot is a short skit that brings the scene
to a close as he runs off with sirens blaring in the background. Rhyme or reason is delivered with his
usual hatred as he lets out his demons and raps about, among other things, his father or more
accurately his lack of a father. He raps that his mother reproduced like a komodo dragon to illustrate
his lack of a father even as early as birth also that his mother served as both a mother and a father.
Komodo dragons have the ability to reproduce asexually. When they do so the result is always a male.
Track Four: So much better has a beat similar to Criminal from MMLP. It almost has the same effect
as if it were the instrumental part of Criminal at a slower pace. Em encapsulates his emotions towards
his romantic relationships as well as hip hop in this song. Survival featuring Liz Rodrigues of the band

The hurricane began as a tropical wave a westbound low pressure area first observed southeast of
Cape Verde on 29 August.[1] Traversing the tropical Atlantic, the wave retained a minimum
barometric pressure of about 1010 mbar (hPa; 29.83 inHg) and strengthened briefly the following day.

as such for much of its early existence till 6 September, by which time it had moved past the
Windward Islands. In this region the system became sufficiently organised to be classified as a tropical

Module 5 Assignment 1
In regards to cognitive psychology and the ways in which we define ourselves in terms of individuals,
is one of the biggest areas of interest. The area defines the process used in order to acquire, receive,
retain and store the information in which is received. During childhood our memory grows, and
through adulthood throughout until our middle age, where shortly after we begin to decline in
productivity. Initially, when a person grows and changes, their brain begins to change and their
cognitive functions worsen. One example being the way in which we appropriately word and express
things, begins to decline in fluency and accuracy. (American psychological association, 2006). Studies
have shown that the semantic and procedural memory declines the least, while that flashbulb memory
declines the most. The amount of large declination varies due to middle age sensitivity and the lack of
self efficiency. The memory initially declines based not on the lack of storage, but merely how they
retain and store that information which is being received. Naturally, this happens because the cortex
shrinks, leaving a serious lack of blood flow to the brain, and triggers that loss, which is naturally all
apart of the aging process. Some natural signs of normal age related memory loss can include the
occasional forgetfulness of where we placed something

Every play written uses dramatic elements. The main dramatic elements are plot, character, theme, and
language. Lillian Hellman, who wrote the Little Foxes, incorporates these elements beautifully in her
play. The play is set during the spring of 1900 and takes place in the Deep South part of the United
States of America. Just as every other play, the Little Foxes has included the dramatic elements in her
play, particularly the plot, character, and language that all incorporate an underlying theme of greed.
The character, which includes the physiological and psychological makeup of each person in the play,
properly incorporated the greed and oppression of the time. Ben and Oscar are brothers who are ...

There were also two servants in the house, whose parts although small, added a real sense of the racial
conflict of the time. These characters were perfectly created with their physiological and
psychological attributes that added the extra tension for the time. Horace and Regina also had a
daughter. Her name was Alexandra. Her character was also built really well, except that she was too
passive and did not react as well as she should have while Regina mentally destroyed Horace. Lastly,
there is the brief appearance of the character named Mr. Marshall. This character although very small
was created extremely well. Just like Ben and Oscar, he had only one thing on his mind. Although his
ulterior motive was greed, he hid that very well while he pretended to have a good time making
friends with the family. Then when it came down to business, he was very keen and right to the point.
Greed.
Not only are the characters created exceptionally well, but the plot of the Little Foxes was also very
beautifully planed out and written with the underlying theme of greed showing up throughout it. This
is a major strength of the play. This play takes place in a little picturesque home in the South of the US
with a prosperous but oppressive family during the spring of 1900. This is where the tension starts to
build. The play starts out with a family gathering. The audience finds out at the end of this gathering

A discovery can lead to a change in perspective on life, with a better understanding of the self, which
can form from an individual s experience. These ideas are exemplified through a range of language
techniques, in Robert Frosts poems, Tuft of Flowers and After Apple Picking . Both create moralistic
experiences through challenging responders to acknowledge unplanned discoveries of the human
condition. Ray Bradbury s short story, The Lake, creates a vivid picture of how childhood can often be

The poem, Tuft of flowers by Robert Frost, examines how the persona s perception of the world is
transformed through discovering and connecting with humanity. The rhyming scheme throughout the
poem, suggesting decisiveness, it s strict AA BB rhyme couplets may allude to friendship and unity
with another. The persona s isolation is demonstrated through the negative connotations of levelled , a
metaphor for the persona s perception of the world and makes a realisation about a need for
fellowship, in a quest for unity for his fellow man. Personification is used in A leaping tongue of
bloom , as though the flowers are speaking to him and providing the communication that he sought
earlier. It represents the collaboration of nature and language, which previously yielded no reply with
the butterfly. The butterfly is wildered which represents the persona s confusion. However, the
emergence of vibrant imagery of a leaping tongue of bloom metaphorically reflects an optimistic
discovery of a possible companion. This alters the speakers cynical tone as reflected through the shift
of a vibrant retrospective tone of I told him from the heart, whether they work together or apart ,
which conveys a hopeful and harmonious self discovery of kinship which provokes a transformation
of a speaker s outlook on the work. Landscape and nature play a large role in his revolutionary
moments. Disappointment is seen when the persona is alone with thoughts and the natural landscape,
and the opportunity for introspection and reflection is evident. The landscape offers redemptive
opportunities to the human spirit that go beyond the material and social world of human activity. Such
moments allow re evaluation of his place in the world and the importance of earlier discoveries. It is

in this essay; notions of philosophy, optimism and the approach to the other of Voltaire, embodied in
the main character Candide, are going to be the subject of discussion. Firstly, to start with notions of
philosophy and optimism, the character Pangloss is the key point.
Pangloss philosophy of optimism resembles the notions of German philosopher Gottfried Wilhelm
