families and individuals have children. Some people say that surrogacy is unhealthy for the surrogate
mothers and that it employs immoral methods for achieving pregnancy and parenthood; however,

There are four different types of surrogate parenting. The most common is Classical Surrogacy which

Sometimes you come to hate things not because of what they are, but because of what meant to you.
They haven t done anything particularly done anything to you directly. But them being in your
presence doesn t help. I don t hate a lot of things, and in literature, that list is even smaller. Through
my experiences in 12th grade, I realized my new found hatred for confessional poetry and its effects.
Due to my experiences, I don t appreciate or rather take notice to literature that might be very

For our Highschool, 12th grade was an interesting year, especially since this was the first year that an

The American Revolutionary War (1775 1783) was the armed conflict between Great Britain and the
Colonist. Those residing in the colonies in America were the Colonists. Both parties were known as
one entity, however, with time and the lack in similar interests, a schism was created and they became
Great Britain and the Americans. As the Colonist grew and tried to expand, King George, the ruler of
Great Britain at the time, wanted to take control over western expansion. King George s control
propagated to the colonists and were tied to Britain by trade which left them dependent. Due to the
lack of currency flowing in the colonies, the colonists used barter and credit to acquire the things
necessary to survive ( Why were they Colonies unhappy with the British? ). The King requested that
the expansion of the colonist be restricted to the Appalachian Mountains and were ordered east
instead. On top of having to move, the colonists were ordered by the King to provide housing for the
British Colonies that would be stationed there. The Colonist felt that this was unnecessary because of
the French and Indian War being over. From this, the Colonist are put in a position where they feel the
need to separate from the king. The colonist wanted to be free from the tyranny. During this time of
conflict between the Colonist and Britain, Parliament decided they need a way to pay for the

The Role Of Women In The Massachusetts Bay Colony
During the American colonial period, the presence of patriarchy was undeniable in both the
Massachusetts Bay Colony and Chesapeake colony, but little is known about the important roles that
women filled. Although there were many shared roles among women in both colonies, their level of
importance in the success of their colonies differed. The Massachusetts Bay Colony women were
more essential to the success of their colony than the women of the Chesapeake colony, especially
with regards to its economy, education, and religion.
The difference in the economies of the two regions was the driving force that led to the strong role
women played in Massachusetts Bay. The Chesapeake colony was colonized by settlers who wanted
to make money quickly, and eventually, as the permanent tobacco producing settlements started to
form, the need for indentured servants rose. Since men had more value as indentured servants, not
many women immigrated, and as a result, a disproportionate men to women ratio was created.
Consequently, many did not marry in Chesapeake, and the mostly male colonists led an isolated
existence, unlike the communal town life and government established in Massachusetts Bay, where
settlers came primarily for religious freedom. Thus, instead of isolated migration, there was family
and group migration, leading to a more proportionate ratio of men to women. In Chesapeake, family
life held little importance. However, in the Massachusetts Bay Colony, households played a

Transformational Leadership and Transactional Theories
The domain of leadership theory and research has had many conceptualizations proposed over the last
few years (Avolio Bass, 2003). These conceptualizations seem to have generated recent interest in the
distinction among transformational, transactional, and laissez faire leadership research (Bass, 1990).
Yukl (1998) noted that transformational leaders get followers to do as they desire by transforming
them or changing the followers themselves. According to Barlow, Jordan, and Hendrix (2003), a
transformational leader generates an image that awakens trust from subordinates and develops
relationships that enable subordinates to move toward goal attainment using their knowledge, skills,
and material resources to accomplish that end. Unlike transformational leaders, transactional leaders
pursue a cost benefit exchange approach that does not change subordinates and uses portion or
organizational resources to meet subordinates needs in return for contracted needs rendered by the
subordinates (Bass, 1990). Although these forms might appear diametrically opposed, most theorists
agree with Bass that they are not mutually exclusive. While transformational, transactional, and
passive/avoidant leadership are conceptually distinct, the same individuals on a continuum might
