effective manufacturing and distribution process doable for their company. Recently, Adidas
has named Russia and China as major growth markets, and the company is working on
implementing marking plans that will directly reach out to those specific areas. In 2011, Adidas
has plans to add more than one hundred stores to its current collection, many of those in the
targeted areas. A majority of those stores will open in Asian countries and other emerging
markets. In 2010, the company s shares more than doubled in value, and they are expected to

Changes happening to your body in week 25
Your uterus has reached the size of a football and your pregnant belly is becoming rounder. Here is
an overview of the physical changes that happen to you during week 25:
Do you notice that you are becoming clumsy in your physical movements? Do not fret over it.
Clumsiness of movements is a part of the second and third trimesters. You are losing your balance
because of the growing life you carry within you.
If you re experiencing pelvic girdle pain, it is due to Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD).
Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction is caused by stretchy ligaments in your pelvic area.
The increased blood volume pressurises your blood vessels and results in varicose veins. Carpal
Tunnel Syndrome, leg cramps, feet swelling and bleeding gums are likely to continue in week 25
of your pregnancy.
Because normal daily hair loss is suppressed by pregnancy hormones, you may notice that your hair
becomes thick and glossy. However, all this extra hair might shed off after you deliver your little
one, and sometimes in chunks.
You may experience swollen, itchy veins in the rectum due to pressing down of uterus. These veins
are caused by the increase in blood

Negative Essay On Vegetarianism
According to a recent poll, 6 to 8 million Americans do not eat meat, fish, or poultry. From these
people studies have been done about the effects of a vegetarian diet on the body. Compared to
meat eaters, vegetarians consume less saturated fat and cholesterol from not eating meat. This
diet leads to better long term health. Research so far has shown that a vegetarian diet reduces
the risk of heart disease. In recent years a study was done using 76,000 participants and the
results showed that vegetarians were 25% less likely to die from a cardiac event such as a heart
attack. This is because vegetarians tend to consume more high fiber, whole grains, and legumes
which have a low glycemic index and the body digests slowly. This keeps blood sugar levels
steady. Another food item that helps reduce the risk of heart disease is walnuts. The omega 3s in
walnuts help reduce total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol. There is some controversy over whether
vegetarians are significantly healthier. Also, discussing the differences in the types of vegetarians.
And portray the different sides of vegetarianismfrom leading experts.
Different people follow different forms of vegetarianism. A true vegetarian eats no meatat all,
including chicken and fish, whereas a lacto ovo vegetarian eats dairy products and eggs, but
excludes meat, fish, and poultry. It follows, then, that a lacto vegetarian eats dairy products but not
eggs, whereas an ovo vegetarian eats eggs but not dairy products

Assessing Aphasia Within The Constructs Of The Who Icf Model
Assessing Aphasia within the Constructs of the WHO ICF Model
Assessing and treating people with health impairments is a challenge faced by health providers
throughout the world. In an attempt to create a standardized approach to classifications,
terminology, and functional descriptions, the World Health Organization created the International
Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) first as a trial in 1980 as the
International Classification of Impairments, Disabilities, and Handicaps, or ICIDH (Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention, 2012), and then fully published it in 2001 under its current title.
In what was considered a radical shift of focus from the cause of the disease or disorder to the
impact of the disease or disorder (World Health Organization, 2002), the ICF is written from the
perspective of ability versus disability. Specifically, it looks at health and functioning in society
rather than just limitations, or disabilities. To accomplish this, the ICF is structured around four
broad components related to health. These components are (a) health conditions (referring to
disorders or disease) which then affect (b) body functions and structure (impairment), (c) activities
(e.g., tasks and actions by an individual), and (d) participation (involvement in life situations) with
additional consideration for the interdependence and impact of (e) environmental factors and (f)
personal factors (Chapey, 2008; CDC, 2012). The three aspects of (a)

Dow Chemical Company
I decided to construct my essay on Dow Chemicals (DC) Company after reading an article in
Business Week. Dow Chemical appears to be developing an aggressive market strategy that aligns
with our class topics, and that I have found very interesting. Dow Chemical (DC) company, over the
last seven years has built their strategy around and focused on their niche , which is core chemicals
amp; plastics manufacturing operations, while simultaneously reducing infrastructure debt,
expanding its market share, and apparently building new strategic alliances. According to Dow
Chemical CEO William Stavropoulos, The mission and goals of Dow Chemical companyis to be a

This was achieved by reducing the workforce by 30 percent and eliminating seven layers of
management. The current management structure contains only five people between the most junior
employee and the Chief Executive Officer. Dow Chemical appears to have embraced a Global
Strategy, which is increasing profitability by reaping the cost reductions that come from experience
curves and location economies and by expanding its market share outside of its home country. This
business savvy type of management approach seeks to penetrate a huge market availability, which
as global markets develop will gradually combine into just one market. In developing their mission
goals and corporate strategy, Dow Chemical has obviously considered both External and Internal
stakeholders and how strategic maneuvers would impact their ultimate goals. Examples of
stakeholder impacts are: External Stakeholders: Customers: Provide the core of revenue, especially
in untapped markets overseas. Suppliers: Provide input w/significant savings through combined
purchasing with Union Carbide Company and 13 other large companies. Governments: Significant
reduced manufacturing restrictions and potential incentives to conduct business in foreign
countries. Unions: Many foreign countries are not unionized, which could be a production cost
incentive. Internal Stakeholders: Stockholders: Maximizing their Return On Investment by
expanding operations and gaining access to difficult markets.

Military Capability During Peacetime Innovation
Resources, accurate innovation, political support, and privatized development are four crucial
factors for enhancing military capability during peacetime innovation. Therefore, countries that
effectively manage internal resources, and are funded through political support will often be at the
forefront of militarydevelopment. Moreover, accurate innovationis essential in ensuring that
innovated technology aligns with the required capabilities to defend the nation. Therefore,
countries with political support in achieving their military vision through accurate peacetime
innovation, often have the upper hand in future military strength. Political support is the primary
and foremost key component in developing successful innovation. Furthermore, military innovation
cannot deviate from the strategic guidance of the nation, without reconstructing the defense strategy
and military vision. Nonetheless, this reconstruction can occur if the current innovation and
military development is defined upon outdated technology. Therefore, peacetime innovation is an
opportunity to combat deficiencies as well as capability gaps, in order to maintain the competitive
edge against potential enemies or threats to a nation. Most importantly, the cost of the innovation,
training, and implementation must be feasible through funding and allocation with approval by
bureaucrats. Spending outside ones means in this factor will result in both incomplete and
inadequate innovation. 1 Political

Continuing Professional Development In Nursing
Continuing professional development is essential in the health care system particularly for the
nurses so they can maintain the knowledge and understanding about up to date health trends,
policies, treatments and techniques. It also provides the opportunity for nurses to maintain,
improve and broaden their knowledge, expertise and develop the personal and professional
qualities required throughout their personal lives (AHPRA, CPD, 2016, page 1). Nurses are
individually responsible for the delivery of safe and competent nursing care and each nurse is
accountable for their practice. Nurses must ensure that, the people are treated according to person

The Themes Of African American Literature
Within African American Literature, there are many themes that are relatable across many different
forms of media. Paintings, for example, can have similar and contradictory themes to those that are
used in African American Literature. Like authors with their literature, artists too take from their
experiences and opinions and form a creation that is a reflection of what they believe. These
creations, both literature and paintings, can contain certain topics that are quite alike. Ellis Wilson,
and African Americanartist, created a painting that exhibits the theme of spirituality in his painting
Prayerin the Field. This theme can be linked to at least three works from African American
literature that broadens the way readers and spectators of art see spirituality.
In Prayer in the Field, it is not difficult to see that spirituality is a major theme. There are three
elements of this painting that support the theme of spirituality. The first element of this painting
that one notices is the bright colors used. Ellis Wilson, whom is known for his expressive,
emphasis of color, uses warm and inviting colors to create a scene that conveys complete
tranquility (Ellis Wilson). Along with color, the next element is the four figures kneeling in the
field praying. These elongated forms, which Wilson is also known for, are what bring in the
spirituality aspect (Ellis Wilson). The tone of Prayer in the Field created by the colors is what
gives these kneeling figures meaning. The warm

1) Since the injured plaintiff was not wearing a seatbelt, why is Ford being sued for failing to
test the seatbelt sleeve? In the case of Branham v. Ford Motor Co., the Plaintiff brought the case
against Hale, the driver, and Ford because the company failed to test the seat belt sleeve, even
though he did not seriously pursue the claim against Hale (Reed, Pagnattaro, Cahoy, Shedd
Morehead, 2012). The case against Ford was based on two product liability claims: one for not
testing the seat belt and the other a design defect claim related to the vehicles tendency to rollover
(Reed, Pagnattaro, Cahoy, Shedd Morehead, 2012). Branham alleged in his case that Ford was

Ford s reasoning for dismissal of the negligence claim was that since Branham did not prove the
seat belt sleeve was in a defective condition unreasonably dangerous to its user meant that it should
have been dismissed as well. The court s decision to judge on the handling and stability design
defect claim portion (Reed, Pagnattaro, Cahoy, Shedd Morehead, 2012), this is true. 3) Is the
consumer expectations test or the risk utility test more favorable to manufacturers? Explain. In
Branham v. Ford Motors Co., the risk utility test is more favorable to the manufacturer. The
consumer expectations test is difficult to predict from a manufacturer s perspective because it is
vague (Tracy 2010). Under the risk utility test, a product is unreasonably dangerous and defective if
the danger associated with the use of the product outweighs the utility of the product (Reed,
Pagnattaro, Cahoy, Shedd Morehead, 2012). The consumer expectations test is used to determine
whether the product is negligently manufactured or whether a warning on the product is defective.
The courts noted that the consumer expectations test was best suited for

The Story Of The Aphorism
Until lions tell their stories, tales of hunting will glorify the hunter. African Proverb The Aphorism
Until lions tell their stories, tales of hunting will glorify the hunter. , stood out to me among the
other aphorisms because it really reflects how we perceive stories, as well as the people who tell
them. In the same manner, it demonstrates how hearing both sides of a story is crucial to making
an accurate judgement while remaining unbiased. Studying this aphorism in a literal sense, we
would see precisely the bias in the perceptions we all have. When hunters disclose the stories of
their kills, they never mention anything that would make them seem any less god like among their
peers. They make a point to seem as virtuous, and honorable

In the article written by Brian Doucet who is a senior lecturer at Erasmus University and Drew
Philp who is an author and journalist. Both composers question what do we learn from viewing an
abandoned house dissociated from its context . The authors are making a claim that rather than
viewing ruin porn as an aesthetic and tourist attraction. We should be trying to help one another as
global citizens . I agree this article should be published on Shorthorns (University of Texas at
Arlington s newspaper). In this analysis, I will be evaluating the effectiveness of rhetorical appeals,
analyzing the rhetorical appeals of the writer and explaining on why I agree it should be published.
What is ruin porn ? Don t be quick to assume such as myself and think about the social taboo of

environment (cities, buildings, infrastructure) as its subject to make it into this aesthetic photo to
be publicized. However, the authors manage to speak the truth that although such shocking
photographs only serve to obscure the humanity and the complexity behind the city s long struggle .
The authors are able to evoke a feeling of empathy to the audience by signaling that although the
photographs of Detroit seem aesthetic , these are the enduring struggles of Detroit citizens. If

How To Train Your Dragon Analysis
How To Train Your Dragon , a 2010 film directed by Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders, uses the
film codes to enhance the audience s understanding of the film. How To Train Your Dragon tells the
tale of a hapless young Viking named Hiccup, who befriends a dragon named Toothless. Together,
they teach the island of Berk about acceptance and overcoming differences. While producing the
directors used the film codes to add interest and understandingto the film, enhancing the overall
enjoyment of the film. The character codeallows to better understand the personality of and have a
deeper connection with the characters. Representational code benefits the audienceby letting them
decipher what the character represents. Meanwhile, the technical code uses film making equipment
to give more information about the characters, scenes and the film in its entirety. The character
code enables the audience to gain a deeper understanding of the characters.
The character code enables the audience to better understand the characters by offering insight into
the personalities of the characters. The character code requires the audience to analyse the character
s speech to better understand the character s personality, actions and behaviour. This is done
through the examination of the accent, tone, pitch, pace and volume of the character/s speaking.
This is evident in the Hiccup Initiation Ceremony Confession Scene in which Hiccup spits out, I m
not one of them. . He states this loudly, in a low pitch, slowly spitting out the words in a chilling
manner with a cold and harsh tone. Therefore, the audience interprets this as Hiccup displaying
himself as being different to the other Vikings in the manner of behaving in an amiable fashion
towards dragons. The audience subsequently comes to the conclusion that Hiccup has a
compassionate, understanding and altruistic personality, denoting his willingness to overcome bias
and promote difference. The character code is also apparent in the Opening Scene where Stoick
harshly declares, What are you doing out? Get inside! . Stoick speedily demanded this thunderingly,
in a low pitch with an accusing and demanding tone. As a result of this, the audience understands
Stoick to be tough, powerful

Reasons Why George Was Justified In Of Mice And Men
Is killing someone right or wrong? In the novella Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck readers
are conflicted with this question all around the world. George killed Lennie after Lennie
accidentally killed Curley s wife.George and Lennie had known eachother for a long time they
even traveled together. George helped Lennie out of multiple situations and killing him was the
best way he could think of in the instance of Lennie killing Curley s wife.Even though Lennie and
George were friends, George was justified in killing Lennie because Lennie was undisciplined and
unsafe. First and foremost, George has to constantly continue to repeat rules to Lennie because
Lennie is undisciplined. Like, after Slim gives Lennie a puppy Lennie brings the puppy into the
bunkhouse with him even though George told him he was not supposed to. For example, after
Lennie comes into the bunkhouse John Steinbeck writes that George reached down and picked up
the tiny puppy from where Lennie had been concealing it against his stomach. (Steinbeck) In this
quote it shows that Lennie disobeyed the rules that George has set with him so he could get the
puppy this means that Lennie is undisciplined because he broke the rules even though he knew
that there were specific rules that were not supposed to be broken. consequently, George has to
repeat himself many times and treat Lennie like a child by fixing the things that Lennie messes up
and disobeyes the rules. So George was justified in his decision to kill

You Just Don T Understand By Deborah Tannen
Communication is a continual balancing act, juggling the conflicting needs for intimacy and
independence says Tannen(27). For some couples finding that certain weight that will balance the
scale of communication can become interesting and a hard task. In the book You Just Don t
Understand, written by DeborahTannen, she gives many examples of how men and women
compete for a gender hierarchy, in which she believes that males and females compete for status in
society. She often believed that guys look down upon women, and do not care about what they
think. So by competing for a hierarchy, women and men almost challenge one another for social
and professional status. It s almost a game in which there isn t really a winner, but that... Show more

When Tannen was talking about asymmetry, she was trying to say that men and women were
trying to relate and overtake the other in the ladder of hierarchy. Women and men often compete in
society for status and a sense of belonging to their peers and society around them. Tannen does a
good job of explaining these specific parts of communication. Basically Tannen says, Women and
men have different ways of talking. Even with the best intentions, trying to settle the problem
through talk can only make things worse if it is ways of talking that is causing trouble in the first
place. (Tannen 79) In a sense Tannen is trying to say that obviously men and women have different
ways of communicating, and if they are having problems and are trying to settle them through
communication, that might not be the best way. If men and women have different ways of
communicating, then communicating to each other about their conversational problems, then that
s only going to cause a bigger problem. For example, a man might trying to present himself more
knowing than the woman, and might look down up on her, or the woman might do the same, and
then that conversation will just go back to competing for hierarchy status, where one is just trying
to be better than the other.
Men and woman find themselves gossiping to each other s peers, as a sense of connection and
belonging. Gossiping is a way of establishing a friendship connection or a sense of status in

Cathar Heresy
The ideological impetus behind this mechanism, specifically the push to centralize and regiment
the prosecutorial process, derived from the reformist popes fighting to establish papal supremacy.
To be clear, the papal reform movement did not start the process of persecuting heresy; some of
Christianity s first leaders, such as the second century bishop Irenaeus of Lyons, wrote about heresy
and how to combat it. Furthermore, prosecutorial episodes occurred before the election of the first
reformist pope, Leo IX, in 1049. One of the most famous examples occurred in the French city of
OrlГ©ans in 1022 when a number of high ranking members of the clergy and nobility were accused
of harboring dualist beliefs and venerating the Devil. In turn, the... Show more content on

At the Third Lateran Council in 1179, Alexander III condemned the growing heretical movements
of the era, and, in the twenty seventh canon, explicitly threatened the Cathars with force. Following
Alexander III, Pope Lucius III began to officially coordinate prosecutorial procedures by outlining
the responsibilities of bishops and secular authorities in his papal pull, Ad abolendam. Pope
Innocent III continued to search for ways to suppress Catharism after his election in 1198. He
redoubled conversion efforts by commissioning a Cistercian mission to the region. Additionally, he
further developed the legal mechanisms to prosecute heresy after issuing the Vergentis in senium in
1199. The papal decree listed out the consequences of following heretical beliefs: confiscation of
property and revocation of titles, to name a few. Nevertheless, like his predecessors, Innocent III
failed to dismantle the Cathar Church through nonviolent means. In 1207, channeling the rhetorical
powers first used by Urban II, Innocent III announced the Albigensian Crusade by promising an
indulgence of the remission of sins to those who went on crusade against the

Professor Compagnoni effectively outlined the characteristics of different legal systems in Class
IV, and rereading her class slides was helpful in understanding the subtleties of legal system
associated with my source text, French Civil Law, based on the Napoleonic code (code civil of
1804). I then related that to the legal system as it functions in Canada, making note of the most
prominent differences, and being cognizant of those as I embarked upon my translation. N.B.: In
my view, the term legal system refers to the nature and content of the law generally, and the
structures and methods whereby it is legislated upon, adjudicated upon and administered, within a
given jurisdiction. Common law and civil law legal traditions share similar social objectives
(individualism, liberalism and personal rights), but they diverge in several key areas. In terms of
understanding how legal systems intertwine here in Canada, all of the provinces and territories,
except Quebec, follow the common law system. The Quebec Act of 1774 made Canada a bijural
country (which means it has two types of law). Outside of Quebec, private law is governed by the
common law, and in Quebec, private law is governed by the French Code

People Thank Those In Uniform In The Great Gatsby
Some ask, Why do people thank those in uniform? or, Why do people in uniform hurt others

those in uniform because they put their life on the line each and everyday to keep others safe. As

put their life on the line just as the regular career Firefighters, Police, EMS, and Military. In Of

Human Rights In The United States
Each individual has their own sets of values and beliefs that they are entitled to, which are
different across different countries. Every country has a type of standard patterned behavior
known as norms, which fluctuates over time. In the United States, there are many different types
of norms and societal needs that vary among cities and states. The norms in the society, includes
specific laws that people follow, which are made by the people themselves. Through those
norms are morals, which are beliefs about the significance of the bad verses desired behavior or the
wrong from right. The laws and rights were created to help give the people more power and have

In international politics power tends to rise above everything else because after the war human rights
became an issue. The idea of human rights comes from moral beliefs and principles, entitled
specifically to individuals. After World War I
, nations were still trying to settle down and establish
their powers. At the end of World War II, efforts in attempting to institutionalize and implement new
human rights occurred. The construction of human rights is a global challenge which are trans
regional, nation states cannot resolve on their own, and needs collective action from states. Human
rights are made up of material needs which are a part of the societal needs and moral needs. Some
rights are more universal compared to the others such as slavery, sexual orientation, or persecution.
Culture variation is one factor that changes among different countries. The question here is, how
does human rights relate to international politics? There are several connections between human
rights and international politics. One connection is that states must work together to establish
these rights to create the balance of power for individuals even through the culture differences.
Human rights suggest a universal morality because of the shared ideas of moral principles and
the ideas of the natural law. In discovering the principles to human rights morality was very
important during the process because those principles served as a guide to the society s behavior.

new or improved product in the marketplace, or the result of that process, to meet the explicit or
implied needs of current or potential customers. In other words, through innovation an enterprise

Descriptive Art Of Art
A wave of nostalgia washed over me when I opened the door to the Durbin Gallery. Waxy, bright,
colorful, and detailed pieces ornamented the white walled room. I smelt the same smell I did
when I was a student digging through my pencil box or when I was creating a colorful
masterpiece during my free time as a child. As I walked around the gallery and saw the pieces
that the artist, Herb Williams, created and displayed in his exhibit, Master Heist. I saw a can of
Campbell s Chicken Noodle Soup, a recreation of Vincent van Goghs The Starry Night, word
bubbles with text, and many more. Williams brought me back to my childhood and amazed me
within a matter of seconds of entering the exhibit by using familiar objects to make familiar
works of art. A thought I continuously had while walking around the exhibit was of how cool it
was to see how one individual used crayons, something I ve always correlated as a tool used to
make art, to create art. The individual pieces when observed from a distance looked to me to be
a vibrant printed picture. However, at a closer glance, it was easy to tell that it was not printed,
and that it was composed of an object that most all viewers can relate to in some way. The artist
took crayons in their most simplistic form, cylinders of wax, to a new level. The thousands of
crayons were arranged by color and placed specifically with either the point or flat ends facing
outwardly to create depth and movement in the pieces. This further pushed my

Why Chinese Car Brands are Stuck in First Gear
Quality Tech Gaps The luxury segment may be off limits, but some Chinese companies have
been able to move somewhat up market. SAIC successfully entered the high end market in the
last few years with the release of Roewe, a brand based on intellectual property acquired when
British car maker MG Rover went bankrupt in 2005. Geely, a private car maker that acquired
Swedish brand Volvo in 2010, has also won market share by gathering its high end products
together under one nameplate, Emgrand. Overall, however, few Chinese carmakers have been able
to establish a reputation for quality and comfort. Sometimes this is merely a matter of lagging
consumer perception, but often there are still quality and technology gaps between foreign and
Chinese brands. Analysts said many Chinese companies also tend to face operational challenges.
Even if a company has mastered advanced technologies,

The Role Of Women In Cinema
Cinema provides anthropomorphic stories for audiences to escape from their own realities and
immerse themselves in a fictional world where everything is controlled by the director, who
structures the film around a main controlling figure. The way that the cinema displays the space,
surroundings, and the human forms in the filmallows the director of the film, like Hitchcock, to use
camera techniques that create an oppressive male gazetowards female characters in the movie. Most
mainstream films pay extra attention to how the human form is presented to the audience. Women
in film are continuously used solely as part of the landscape in films. The gaze the director focuses
on the female form turns them (females) into objects, whose appearance is used to deliver a strong
visual and erotic impact that provokes the male desire. I support Mulvey s argument that, womanas
icon, displayed for the gaze and enjoyment of men, the active controllers of the look, (Mulvey
28). Mulvey is saying that film directors are using techniques, like camera angle or movement, to
further enforce the idea of a woman s body being a sexual object. The creation of an active male
gaze in film is used to derive pleasure from being able to look at an oversexualized female form
tailored to the desires of the men. Consequently, making the female no longer an actual living
person, they are now just part of the landscape of a bigger work of art. Therefore, reinforcing the
societal standard representation of the perfect and powerful ideal ego of the male character, and
the image of the passive and powerless female character. In his article Visual Drive and Cinematic
Narrative: Reading Gaze Theory in Lacan, Hitchcock, and Mulvey, Clifford Manlove reaffirms
Mulvey s claim by stating that, Patriarchal influence upon cinema is found primarily in pleasure ;
that is to say, the pleasure in looking... (Manlove 84). Manlove s point reinforces the scopophilia
tendencies that Mulvey says are present in films. Additionally, it also adds evidence to the claim
that the cinema is influenced by the societal norms surrounding everyday life.

How Endocrine System Works
How does the Endocrine system work? The function of the endocrine system is to regulate body
activities, similar to the nervous system in that they both regulate body activities. The difference is
that the nervous system uses electrical messengers to send signals to the body, and the endocrine
system uses chemical messengers hormones to make the changes to effect changes within the body.
The endocrine systemwork together with the nervous system to help control body function and

The Importance Of Love In The Novel Between Shades Of Gray
William Sloane Coffin once said, The world is too dangerous for anything but truth and too small
for anything but love. (good connection) Within the novel Between Shades of Gray, written by
Ruta Sepetys, the main character, Lina, gets transported to labor camps with her whole family
besides her father. Lina then spends most of her time at these labor camps being starved and
searching for her father. Throughout the whole experience of the labor camp, love is what keeps
Lina moving and stops her from giving up. The novel, Between Shades of Gray, written by Ruta
Sepetys, demonstrates love overcomes fear and suffering.
First of all, in the beginning of the novel, Lina finds love in her relationships which helps her defeat
all pain. As she suffers traumatic events, Lina finds hope through her friends and family, allowing
her to survive horrendous labor camps. Additionally, expressing their strong connection, Lina also
learns to cling onto her friends and family mentally when they physically aren t there. When Lina
gets seperated from her boyfriend, Andrius, he gives Lina a stone to remember him by. While
feeling alone one night, Lina says, I will see you...I will. I reached into my pocket and squeezed
the stone (336). This stone symbolizes their love and hope to just see each other again. Without
this stone to hold onto, Lina would probably give up. Then, soon after Lina found out her father
died in prison, which built onto all the stress and suffering in her life. Before

Finding Rhetoric in Our Lives
The commercial of my choice was the Old Spice ad that is advertising their new line of body
wash that is advertised having odor block power. The commercial is made by old spice and has a
lot of ethos, pathos, and logos throughout the commercial, and is very effective at all three. I think
that the commercial works and gets straight to the point in a very short time. Its main goal is to
sell and make money off their product that is said to keep you smelling god and stopping odor from
coming off you. They use a very famous actor, Terry Crews, to tell you that the product works and

It demonstrates how he washes his body and it takes immediate effects in stopping the odor.
Another instance of the commercial using ethos is how often the ad and all the diversity in
each one being played everywhere on everything, which shows that they have a good feeling that
people will see this and purchase the product from them as soon as possible. The brand of Old
Spice already does have a good reputation and is one of the leading brands in men s health and
cleanliness behind Axe brand. So it doesn t need as many appeals to ethos because they already
have good credibility and most people know the name and will trust them. The uses of pathos is
how he seems to be screaming at the audience which may seem to intimidate them into buying the
old spice body wash. He seems over excited and is very big which may make you feel like if you
don t buy it then he ll do something about it. There are a lot of different emotional appeals through
this commercial that will affect many people in different emotional states while hearing the
commercial. It is very effective and is the most predominately used rhetoric device used in the
commercial. Another emotional response you feel would be happiness because the commercial is
overall a comedic ad that wants to make you feel happy and make you feel like you can trust them
and their product. They portray this by having him express his opinions on odor and why you

The Soviet Union Of The Korean War
With a total of approximately 7 million soldiers, sailors, and airmen from America fought in the
Korean War, thousands of them lost their lives. But why, you may ask? Well, up until World War
II, Korea has been one nation that had belonged to Japan and was known as the Korean Peninsula.
After World War II, the winners of the war divided it into two countries. The northern half was ruled
by the Soviet Union, while the U.S. took control of the southern half. The line that divided the
country in half was called the 38th parallel. The Soviets wanted to expand the communist influence
more in Korea. The United States encouraged democracy instead, but that caused an uproar. This

The other reason was to protect Japan, which the United States thought would be the next
country on North Korea s list to invade and try to take over. As the first couple weeks went on,
The United States rushed a new weapon into the fields that provided an effective counter to
North Korean armor. This new weapon was called the M 20 bazooka or also known as the super
bazooka. The super bazooka could fire a larger, 3.5 inch rocket that was capable of penetrating
the North Korean armor. This gave the U.S. and the United Nations troops an advantage,
although tensions were still created by the North Korean army. This tension led both Presidents
Truman and Eisenhower to consider dropping a nuclear bomb on Korea, but eventually got
turned down due to the worry of starting a World War III. The United States did drop other
bombs trying to end the war as quickly as possible. They released more bombs in Korea than in
the entire Pacific theater during World War II. Also, the United States initially wanted to only
defend the Southern half of Korea because they never actually declared war in the first place.
However, President Truman convinced the United Nations that they should expand and liberate
North Korea as well. Under the leadership of General MacArthur, they did gain control of most of
North Korea. MacArthur wanted to keep fighting, despite China s overwhelming numbers. He

Green Forest Is Easy On The Eye
Green forest is easy on the eye, it breaks the harshness of roads and buildings and adds interest to
farmland and mountain slopes. In its sanctuary birdsong and air currents play with your auditory
senses and aroma s of nectar, decayed logs and leaves fill the air.
After a long absence from New Zealand, I decided to reacquaint myself with the types of forests
found in the Land of the Long White cloud. In this article, I have based the forest communities on
the categories from The New Zealand Plant Conservation Network: Beech Forest, Podocarp
/broadleaf and Kauri Podocarp/broadleaf.
An introduction
New Zealand is in a temperate zone, located between the Antarctic Circle and the Tropic of
Capricorn. It is also in the path of the roaring forties, a strong westerly wind circling the globe,
between the latitudes of forty and fifty degrees. Etched by fiords, mountain ranges, volcanoes,
plains, plateaus and just over 15,000 kilometres of coastline, it shapes a diverse landscape.
Over time, plants have evolved and adapted to this landscape and climate. Today there are 2,418
native species of forest plants, which includes ferns and grasses. Native mosses, liverworts,
hornworts and lichens make up approximately another 3,480 plants. Most plants are evergreen with
about (still counting) 28 deciduous species.

I like how a montane beech forest defines a distinct line across mountain slopes and the excitement
you feel when you emerge into the alpine zone .

Although Walton s mistake does not cause him physical harm, the failure of his enterprise is a
shame worse than death: in his own words, I had rather die than return shamefully my purpose
unfulfilled (218). Through both the monster and Walton, Shelley also points out that while lack
of caution may not have mortal consequences, the results will nevertheless be severe. Shelley
reiterates this message throughout Frankenstein, One should always be cautious, and never be
so rushed to finish a project that the normal rules of safety are cast aside. The author conveys her
belief by revealing the reasoning of Frankenstein during the creation of the two monsters. During
the making of the first monster, Frankenstein is almost driven insane with his desire to succeed.
He tells Walton, My eyeballs were starting from their sockets in attending to the details of my
employment...my eyes were insensible to the charms of nature... I also forgot my friends who
were so many miles absent and whom I had not seen in quite a long time (55). Frankenstein s
words reveal the deleterious results of being incautious, he did not notice the seasons change, nor
did he think of his friends, his body also suffers the consequences of his wild frenzy to finish his
work. However, when the monster approaches Frankenstein to create a female daemon,

The True Nature Of The Gladiators
Introduction
Gladiators have long been regarded as entertainers performing spectacles of great violence for an
avid audience. Many scholars debate whether the gladiators could be considered athletes due to the
stark differences between the Greek athletes of the Olympics and the Roman gladiators of the
arena. There are many myths surrounding the gladiators. Most people think that the gladiators were
savage and would fight each other to the death every time they entered the arena. Many people are
also unaware of the training that each gladiator would undergo. The virtue of the gladiators is often
brought into question because they are seen as vicious and thoughtless. In this paper, the true
nature of the gladiators will be investigated by analysing the cultural context surrounding the

historians have regarding the nature of the events and spectacles in which Roman gladiators
typically engaged. Heather Reid has published many articles in ancient philosophy, especially as it
relates to sport and athleticism. She is a professor of philosophy at Morningside College in Iowa.
Many historians do not consider Roman gladiators to be ancient athletes. Historians classified
gladiators more as entertainers than athletes due to the fact

Mexican Independence
Mexican Independence In New Spain, the Bourbon monarchies in 1808 1810 encouraged some
creoles leaders to strike for total independence under the cover of Ferdinand. On July 1808,
Napoleon s capture of Charles the VI and Ferdinand the VII, and capture of Spain reached Mexico
causing intense debate between Mexican elites. Creoles and Peninsulars prepared to take power
and ensure their group would have power over the other; New Spain, like other Spanish colonies,
went through the crisis of the Bourbon monarchy from 1808 1810. Yet, in Mexicowhat pushed for
independence from Spain would be the elite s race for power.

It was followed by a long period of war at the Siege of Cuautla. Morelos military efforts were
hampered by differences with fractious civilian allies and by his decision to establish a
representative government at a time. In 1815, Morelos was captured by Spanish colonial
authorities, tried and executed for treason in San CristГіbal Ecatepec on 22 December.
After ten years of civil war and the death of two of its founders, by early 1820 the independence
movement was stalemated and close to collapse. The rebels faced stiff Spanish military resistance
and the apathy of many of the most influential criollos. The violent excesses and populist zeal of
Hidalgo s and Morelos s irregular armies had reinforced many criollos fears of race and class
warfare, ensuring their grudging acquiescence to conservative Spanish rule until a less bloody path
to independence could be found. It was at this juncture that the machinations of a conservative
military caudillo coinciding with a successful liberal rebellion in Spain, made possible a radical
realignment of the proindependence forces. Vicente Guerror, planned to combine independence,
monarchy, the supremacy of the Roman Catholic Church, and the civil equality of the creoles and
peninsulares.

Homelessness in the United States Essay
According to the National Student Campaign Against Hunger and Homelessness, approximately
3.5 million people are homeless each year, while 36.3 million live in households without enough
food. This statistic only reflects the United States, and to many people, it just doesn t make sense.
For instance Alfredzine Black of the YWCA in Marion, Indiana says, I don t understand why we
have so much povertyin the richest country in the world! Citizens of the United Stateshave a hard
time defining and identifying poverty in their communities, so the country should crate a consistent
and accurate measure of poverty. Also, urban growth is leaving people behind and causing
unnecessary evictions that lead to homelessness, and this problem can be... Show more content on

This number amounts to over 20 percent of the world s population....(Introdution)
The World Bank monitors poverty and homelessness around the world, but other agencies focus on
evaluating the United States alone. One of these is the United States Census Bureau.
In the United States, the Census Bureau sets the official poverty line. The figure used to compute a
person s poverty status includes any earnings, Social Security payments, child support, or other
assistance. Then, using the size of the family and the ages of the family members, the Census
Bureau determines which poverty threshold applies...According to this poverty measure, 12.5
percent of the U.S. population lived in poverty in 2007. (Introdution)
These studies may be biased or skewed depending on the information available to Census Bureau
and World Bank employees who conduct them or the factors used to determine who is poor. For
example, the factors taken into consideration by the Census Bureau may contribute to faulty
results, since they only determine who is under the poverty line after they calculate how much
Social Security money or other assistance the applicants receive. It seems like it would make
much more sense to learn how well the subjects of the studies are doing on their own before they
are assisted, and maybe this way an accurate measure of the homeless population could be obtained,

Essay The Greek Economy
The Greek economy was a result of the combination of slaves, citizens and Metics. The Metic,
however, was the driving and most important force behind the Greek economy. The slave was
used only when seen fit. The citizen saw work as below the dignity of a free man. He left to
others the labors that he was unwilling to perform himself. Firstly, it must be noted that any
prejudice against manual labor among the Greeks was of comparatively late origin. Certainly, in
the Homeric age, to labor with one s hands was no disgrace. The prowess of Odysseus comes to
mind, who was a mighty worker and built his own house and even his own bedstead. (Hom.
Od.13, 31 34) There was no prejudice against manual labor in the time of Solon either, who decreed

This new found standing gave the citizen the view that he was above manual labor. The plunder
gained from wars, and after the founding of the Delian League, the riches gained set up new
standards of values and conduct. With the increased wealth, fortunes were made overnight. The
citizen enjoyed himself more and saw those who had to work for a living with contempt. Also,
with the increased affluence, citizens were able to pay the Metic to carry out trade. Herodotus
remarked upon this as something quite new, that the citizens practice no trade and only war,
which is their hereditary calling. Now, whether this separation, like other customs has come to
Greece from Egypt I cannot exactly judge. I know that in Thrace and Scythia and Persia and
Lydia and nearly all foreign countries those who learn trades and their descendants are held in
less esteem than the rest of the people, and those who have nothing to do with artisan s work,
especially men who are free to practice war, are highly honored. (Herod. 2, 166 167) This is a
testament that the Greek citizen had shifted away from work and had elevated himself upon a
pedestal. Thus creating a demand for highly skilled laborers, which was filled by the Metics.
Aristotle and Plato simply would not allow or accept that a man, whose whole energies were
devoted to making a living, could possibly at the same time fulfill his duties as a citizen

The African Queen Essays
THE AFRICAN QUEEN Short Summary: quot; The African Queen quot; is the tale of two
companions with different personalities who develop an untrustworthy love affair as they travel
together downriver in Africa around the start of World War I. They struggle against the climate,
the river, the bugs, the Germans and, most of all, against each other. In the course of much
misery, they develop love and respect for each other. Detailed Summary: In September 1914, the
German occupying forces hold East Africa. The story starts in a small village that is overlorded
by a stuffy British missionary, Reverent Samuel Sayer and his spinster, prudish sister Rose Sayer,
who is utterly devoted to her brother. Rose is also very naive and pious. She... Show more content

In front of the lake, the Germans occupy a fort at Shona. And all along the way there are many
rapids. Rose, who is now resolute and strong willed, wants to strike back against the Germans.
She plans to destroy the German warship by using the explosives that are still on board of the
quot;African Queen quot;. At first, Charlie doesn t want to support that patriotic plan. Rose
tries to change his views by accusing him permanently of not helping their country. That shows
effects and Charlie agrees to her plan. They start their travel down to the river. At first they are
polite and tolerant to each other. After Charlie has drunk his gin, he suggests that they each
could take a bath in the river. During the night, a rain storm soacks Charlie, who must sleep on
the open deck, while Rose sleeps on the lower deck. After they passed a series of dangerous
rapids, Charlie expects that Rose will think over her plan, but it turns out that this was not
correct. On the contrary: Rose wishes more dangerous rapids because she wants to learn how to
steer the quot;African Queen quot;. She is developing a kind of love for the quot;African Queen
quot;. After some drinks Charlie reneges on his promise to destroy the German warship. He says
that it is an absurd idea because the fort at Shona has sharpshooters and snipers, which they have
to pass during the day. Rose accuses him of being a liar and a coward. Charlie gets nervous and

Use Of Linkedin Authority For Career Branding Purposes
ESSAYS42700 6 How to use LinkedIn authority for career branding purposes
Image http://assets3.thrillist.com/v1/image/1492657/size/tmg slideshow_xl
Start by picking a brand focus, which you may better know as a brand principle. When people
refer to a brand principle in business, they are referring to the rule a company lives by, or an
aspect of the company or its products. It is a company s way of saying, We stand for this, and
your brand focus should be a similar thing. It is similar (but not the same) because you need to
show people what you stand for, but you also need to highlight something specifically terrific about
yourself.
Tip Think of yourself as selling a service instead of selling a product. The service is your time and
expertise.
Creating a brand friendly title
Your title needs to in some way reflect your brand focus. It doesn t have to state it overtly, and it
may look at little tacky if you do, but it should give readers a hint around what to expect. The
biggest mistake that people make is to state their current job in their title/headline.
For example, your brand may be that you are an exemplary biomedical scientist who deals with
fecal matter. However, you may currently be working as a meter maid since having your baby.
Some users would make the mistake of writing that they were a meter maid in the title/headline.
Even though it is true, it is not a brand friendly title, since a brand friendly title/headline would
either state that the profile

Analysis Of The Poem Sharda
POET BIOGRAPHY

Date and Place of Birth
Pablo Neruda was Born Ricardo Eliecer Neftali Reyes in Parral, Chile on July the 12th 1904. His
father was a railroad worker while his mother was a teacher who passed shortly after his birth.
Neruda had two half siblings when growing up.
Education
He attended Temuco Boy s School, where he published his first poems at the age of 13 under the
name Pablo Neruda to the daily La MaГ±ana. This was because Neruda wished to hide his poetry
from his father who was not in agreement with Neruda s dream. Pablo Neruda choose this
pseudonym as Jan Neruda (1834 1891) had inspired the young poet. Once Neruda graduated at the

Neruda seems a very passionate person as displayed in the two poems analysed; If you forget me
and Your laughter .
What I think of this Person
I believe that Pablo Neruda led an extraordinary life. Neruda would ve had an interesting life,
experiencing different ways of life through being a consul and writing poetry to share his
experiences. Although I cannot relate to Pablo Neruda s poetry, it still speaks loudly and conveys a
lot of emotion.
Pablo Neruda is a person who would be easily liked as he was an open soul and authored gentle
poetry. POETRY analysis
If you forget me by Pablo Neruda is a poem that has a peaceful and calming aura. My initial thought
when the thought was one of confusion as the poem didn t make complete sense.
If you forget me is based upon the subject of forgetting. This poem was composed to demonstrate
that if you ve forgotten someone, don t worry for they ve already forgotten you. Although, if you
find yourself thinking of them often, then so are they. If thinking of them is a routine, then you
should find them. Neruda has conveyed this message through stanzas four and six.
If suddenly you forget me do not look for me, for I shall already have forgotten you.
if each day, each hour, you feel that you are destined for me with implacable sweetness, if each day
a flower climbs up to your lips to seek me, ah my love, ah my own, in me all that fire is repeated,

Anthropometric Factors: Are fast bowlers born or made?
Introduction
Brett Lee in his Biography says We trained so hard, there are a lot of images of me and Jock
Campbell (fitness coach), with me running with a parachute behind me, working on my speed, ...
those little things, those little training drills helped me to maintain my speed and to bowl the

Decades have passed and the debate continues. This discussion is not limited to fast bowling but
applies to general skill acquisition as a whole.
Most of the research related to fast bowling has focused on biomechanics and back injury
prevention and very limited work has been done with factors contributing to bowling speeds. This
limited amount mainly consists of theoretical papers, which provide a synthesis of arguments from
different papers rather than using a dataset to deduce empirical evidence. The difficultly associated
with conducting experiments with a small sample size (limited number of bowlers) and a small
number of observations (few deliveries per bowler) may be the reason for the lack of research in
this area.
A fast bowler s training involves a lot more strength and conditioning than a batsman or any other
type of bowler. This highlights the fact that anthropometric factors are of great significance to
generating high bowling speeds. This research will attempt to identify the most important
anthropometric factors and how well those possibly explain the difference(s) in bowling speeds. To
date, little or no attempt has been made to classify anthropometric factors vis Г vis fast bowlers as
either genetic or environmental. Furthermore, research has drawn a line between genetic and
environmental factors and has not considered the two as interdependent.
This research, by

  • 4. Negative Essay On Vegetarianism According to a recent poll, 6 to 8 million Americans do not eat meat, fish, or poultry. From these people studies have been done about the effects of a vegetarian diet on the body. Compared to meat eaters, vegetarians consume less saturated fat and cholesterol from not eating meat. This diet leads to better long term health. Research so far has shown that a vegetarian diet reduces the risk of heart disease. In recent years a study was done using 76,000 participants and the results showed that vegetarians were 25% less likely to die from a cardiac event such as a heart attack. This is because vegetarians tend to consume more high fiber, whole grains, and legumes which have a low glycemic index and the body digests slowly. This keeps blood sugar levels steady. Another food item that helps reduce the risk of heart disease is walnuts. The omega 3s in walnuts help reduce total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol. There is some controversy over whether vegetarians are significantly healthier. Also, discussing the differences in the types of vegetarians. • 5. Assessing Aphasia Within The Constructs Of The Who Icf Model Assessing Aphasia within the Constructs of the WHO ICF Model Assessing and treating people with health impairments is a challenge faced by health providers throughout the world. In an attempt to create a standardized approach to classifications, terminology, and functional descriptions, the World Health Organization created the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) first as a trial in 1980 as the International Classification of Impairments, Disabilities, and Handicaps, or ICIDH (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2012), and then fully published it in 2001 under its current title. In what was considered a radical shift of focus from the cause of the disease or disorder to the impact of the disease or disorder (World Health Organization, 2002), the ICF is written from the perspective of ability versus disability. Specifically, it looks at health and functioning in society rather than just limitations, or disabilities. To accomplish this, the ICF is structured around four broad components related to health. These components are (a) health conditions (referring to disorders or disease) which then affect (b) body functions and structure (impairment), (c) activities (e.g., tasks and actions by an individual), and (d) participation (involvement in life situations) with additional consideration for the interdependence and impact of (e) environmental factors and (f) personal factors (Chapey, 2008; CDC, 2012). This business savvy type of management approach seeks to penetrate a huge market availability, which as global markets develop will gradually combine into just one market. In developing their mission goals and corporate strategy, Dow Chemical has obviously considered both External and Internal stakeholders and how strategic maneuvers would impact their ultimate goals. Examples of stakeholder impacts are: External Stakeholders: Customers: Provide the core of revenue, especially in untapped markets overseas. Suppliers: Provide input w/significant savings through combined purchasing with Union Carbide Company and 13 other large companies. Unions: Many foreign countries are not unionized, which could be a production cost incentive. • 8. Military Capability During Peacetime Innovation Resources, accurate innovation, political support, and privatized development are four crucial factors for enhancing military capability during peacetime innovation. Therefore, countries that effectively manage internal resources, and are funded through political support will often be at the forefront of militarydevelopment. Moreover, accurate innovationis essential in ensuring that innovated technology aligns with the required capabilities to defend the nation. Therefore, countries with political support in achieving their military vision through accurate peacetime innovation, often have the upper hand in future military strength. Political support is the primary and foremost key component in developing successful innovation. Furthermore, military innovation cannot deviate from the strategic guidance of the nation, without reconstructing the defense strategy and military vision. Nonetheless, this reconstruction can occur if the current innovation and military development is defined upon outdated technology. Therefore, peacetime innovation is an opportunity to combat deficiencies as well as capability gaps, in order to maintain the competitive edge against potential enemies or threats to a nation. Most importantly, the cost of the innovation, training, and implementation must be feasible through funding and allocation with approval by bureaucrats. Spending outside ones means in this factor will result in both incomplete and inadequate innovation. 1 Political ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. The Themes Of African American Literature Within African American Literature, there are many themes that are relatable across many different forms of media. Paintings, for example, can have similar and contradictory themes to those that are used in African American Literature. Like authors with their literature, artists too take from their experiences and opinions and form a creation that is a reflection of what they believe. These creations, both literature and paintings, can contain certain topics that are quite alike. Ellis Wilson, and African Americanartist, created a painting that exhibits the theme of spirituality in his painting Prayerin the Field. This theme can be linked to at least three works from African American literature that broadens the way readers and spectators of art see spirituality. In Prayer in the Field, it is not difficult to see that spirituality is a major theme. There are three elements of this painting that support the theme of spirituality. The first element of this painting that one notices is the bright colors used. Ellis Wilson, whom is known for his expressive, emphasis of color, uses warm and inviting colors to create a scene that conveys complete tranquility (Ellis Wilson). Along with color, the next element is the four figures kneeling in the field praying. These elongated forms, which Wilson is also known for, are what bring in the spirituality aspect (Ellis Wilson). The tone of Prayer in the Field created by the colors is what gives these kneeling figures meaning. The warm ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ford Motor Co., the Plaintiff brought the case against Hale, the driver, and Ford because the company failed to test the seat belt sleeve, even though he did not seriously pursue the claim against Hale (Reed, Pagnattaro, Cahoy, Shedd Morehead, 2012). The case against Ford was based on two product liability claims: one for not testing the seat belt and the other a design defect claim related to the vehicles tendency to rollover (Reed, Pagnattaro, Cahoy, Shedd Morehead, 2012). The court s decision to judge on the handling and stability design defect claim portion (Reed, Pagnattaro, Cahoy, Shedd Morehead, 2012), this is true. 3) Is the consumer expectations test or the risk utility test more favorable to manufacturers? Explain. In Branham v. Ford Motors Co., the risk utility test is more favorable to the manufacturer. The consumer expectations test is difficult to predict from a manufacturer s perspective because it is vague (Tracy 2010). Under the risk utility test, a product is unreasonably dangerous and defective if the danger associated with the use of the product outweighs the utility of the product (Reed, Pagnattaro, Cahoy, Shedd Morehead, 2012). The consumer expectations test is used to determine whether the product is negligently manufactured or whether a warning on the product is defective. In the same manner, it demonstrates how hearing both sides of a story is crucial to making an accurate judgement while remaining unbiased. • 14. How To Train Your Dragon Analysis How To Train Your Dragon , a 2010 film directed by Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders, uses the film codes to enhance the audience s understanding of the film. How To Train Your Dragon tells the tale of a hapless young Viking named Hiccup, who befriends a dragon named Toothless. Together, they teach the island of Berk about acceptance and overcoming differences. While producing the directors used the film codes to add interest and understandingto the film, enhancing the overall enjoyment of the film. The character codeallows to better understand the personality of and have a deeper connection with the characters. Representational code benefits the audienceby letting them decipher what the character represents. Meanwhile, the technical code uses film making equipment to give more information about the characters, scenes and the film in its entirety. The character code enables the audience to gain a deeper understanding of the characters. The character code enables the audience to better understand the characters by offering insight into the personalities of the characters. The character code requires the audience to analyse the character s speech to better understand the character s personality, actions and behaviour. This is done through the examination of the accent, tone, pitch, pace and volume of the character/s speaking. This is evident in the Hiccup Initiation Ceremony Confession Scene in which Hiccup spits out, I m not one of them. . He states this loudly, in a low pitch, slowly spitting out the words in a chilling manner with a cold and harsh tone. Therefore, the audience interprets this as Hiccup displaying himself as being different to the other Vikings in the manner of behaving in an amiable fashion towards dragons. The audience subsequently comes to the conclusion that Hiccup has a compassionate, understanding and altruistic personality, denoting his willingness to overcome bias and promote difference. The character code is also apparent in the Opening Scene where Stoick harshly declares, What are you doing out? Get inside! . Stoick speedily demanded this thunderingly, in a low pitch with an accusing and demanding tone. As a result of this, the audience understands Stoick to be tough, powerful ... • 15. Reasons Why George Was Justified In Of Mice And Men Is killing someone right or wrong? In the novella Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck readers are conflicted with this question all around the world. George killed Lennie after Lennie accidentally killed Curley s wife.George and Lennie had known eachother for a long time they even traveled together. George helped Lennie out of multiple situations and killing him was the best way he could think of in the instance of Lennie killing Curley s wife.Even though Lennie and George were friends, George was justified in killing Lennie because Lennie was undisciplined and unsafe. First and foremost, George has to constantly continue to repeat rules to Lennie because Lennie is undisciplined. Like, after Slim gives Lennie a puppy Lennie brings the puppy into the bunkhouse with him even though George told him he was not supposed to. For example, after Lennie comes into the bunkhouse John Steinbeck writes that George reached down and picked up the tiny puppy from where Lennie had been concealing it against his stomach. (Steinbeck) In this quote it shows that Lennie disobeyed the rules that George has set with him so he could get the puppy this means that Lennie is undisciplined because he broke the rules even though he knew that there were specific rules that were not supposed to be broken. consequently, George has to repeat himself many times and treat Lennie like a child by fixing the things that Lennie messes up and disobeyes the rules. So George was justified in his decision to kill ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For some couples finding that certain weight that will balance the scale of communication can become interesting and a hard task. In the book You Just Don t Understand, written by DeborahTannen, she gives many examples of how men and women compete for a gender hierarchy, in which she believes that males and females compete for status in society. She often believed that guys look down upon women, and do not care about what they think. So by competing for a hierarchy, women and men almost challenge one another for social and professional status. It s almost a game in which there isn t really a winner, but that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Tannen was talking about asymmetry, she was trying to say that men and women were trying to relate and overtake the other in the ladder of hierarchy. Women and men often compete in society for status and a sense of belonging to their peers and society around them. Tannen does a good job of explaining these specific parts of communication. Basically Tannen says, Women and men have different ways of talking. Even with the best intentions, trying to settle the problem through talk can only make things worse if it is ways of talking that is causing trouble in the first place. (Tannen 79) In a sense Tannen is trying to say that obviously men and women have different ways of communicating, and if they are having problems and are trying to settle them through communication, that might not be the best way. If men and women have different ways of communicating, then communicating to each other about their conversational problems, then that s only going to cause a bigger problem. For example, a man might trying to present himself more knowing than the woman, and might look down up on her, or the woman might do the same, and then that conversation will just go back to competing for hierarchy status, where one is just trying to be better than the other. Men and woman find themselves gossiping to each other s peers, as a sense of connection and belonging. Gossiping is a way of establishing a friendship connection or a sense of status in ... • 17. Cathar Heresy The ideological impetus behind this mechanism, specifically the push to centralize and regiment the prosecutorial process, derived from the reformist popes fighting to establish papal supremacy. To be clear, the papal reform movement did not start the process of persecuting heresy; some of Christianity s first leaders, such as the second century bishop Irenaeus of Lyons, wrote about heresy and how to combat it. Furthermore, prosecutorial episodes occurred before the election of the first reformist pope, Leo IX, in 1049. One of the most famous examples occurred in the French city of OrlГ©ans in 1022 when a number of high ranking members of the clergy and nobility were accused of harboring dualist beliefs and venerating the Devil. At the Third Lateran Council in 1179, Alexander III condemned the growing heretical movements of the era, and, in the twenty seventh canon, explicitly threatened the Cathars with force. Following Alexander III, Pope Lucius III began to officially coordinate prosecutorial procedures by outlining the responsibilities of bishops and secular authorities in his papal pull, Ad abolendam. Pope Innocent III continued to search for ways to suppress Catharism after his election in 1198. He redoubled conversion efforts by commissioning a Cistercian mission to the region. Additionally, he further developed the legal mechanisms to prosecute heresy after issuing the Vergentis in senium in 1199. The papal decree listed out the consequences of following heretical beliefs: confiscation of property and revocation of titles, to name a few. Nevertheless, like his predecessors, Innocent III failed to dismantle the Cathar Church through nonviolent means. Professor Compagnoni effectively outlined the characteristics of different legal systems in Class IV, and rereading her class slides was helpful in understanding the subtleties of legal system associated with my source text, French Civil Law, based on the Napoleonic code (code civil of 1804). I then related that to the legal system as it functions in Canada, making note of the most prominent differences, and being cognizant of those as I embarked upon my translation. N.B.: In my view, the term legal system refers to the nature and content of the law generally, and the structures and methods whereby it is legislated upon, adjudicated upon and administered, within a given jurisdiction. Common law and civil law legal traditions share similar social objectives (individualism, liberalism and personal rights), but they diverge in several key areas. In terms of understanding how legal systems intertwine here in Canada, all of the provinces and territories, except Quebec, follow the common law system. The idea of human rights comes from moral beliefs and principles, entitled specifically to individuals. After World War I , nations were still trying to settle down and establish their powers. At the end of World War II, efforts in attempting to institutionalize and implement new human rights occurred. The construction of human rights is a global challenge which are trans regional, nation states cannot resolve on their own, and needs collective action from states. Human rights are made up of material needs which are a part of the societal needs and moral needs. Some rights are more universal compared to the others such as slavery, sexual orientation, or persecution. Culture variation is one factor that changes among different countries. The question here is, how does human rights relate to international politics? There are several connections between human rights and international politics. One connection is that states must work together to establish these rights to create the balance of power for individuals even through the culture differences. • 22. Descriptive Art Of Art A wave of nostalgia washed over me when I opened the door to the Durbin Gallery. Waxy, bright, colorful, and detailed pieces ornamented the white walled room. I smelt the same smell I did when I was a student digging through my pencil box or when I was creating a colorful masterpiece during my free time as a child. As I walked around the gallery and saw the pieces that the artist, Herb Williams, created and displayed in his exhibit, Master Heist. I saw a can of Campbell s Chicken Noodle Soup, a recreation of Vincent van Goghs The Starry Night, word bubbles with text, and many more. Williams brought me back to my childhood and amazed me within a matter of seconds of entering the exhibit by using familiar objects to make familiar works of art. A thought I continuously had while walking around the exhibit was of how cool it was to see how one individual used crayons, something I ve always correlated as a tool used to make art, to create art. The individual pieces when observed from a distance looked to me to be a vibrant printed picture. However, at a closer glance, it was easy to tell that it was not printed, and that it was composed of an object that most all viewers can relate to in some way. The artist took crayons in their most simplistic form, cylinders of wax, to a new level. The thousands of crayons were arranged by color and placed specifically with either the point or flat ends facing outwardly to create depth and movement in the pieces. This further pushed my ... The Role Of Women In Cinema Cinema provides anthropomorphic stories for audiences to escape from their own realities and immerse themselves in a fictional world where everything is controlled by the director, who structures the film around a main controlling figure. The way that the cinema displays the space, surroundings, and the human forms in the filmallows the director of the film, like Hitchcock, to use camera techniques that create an oppressive male gazetowards female characters in the movie. Most mainstream films pay extra attention to how the human form is presented to the audience. Women in film are continuously used solely as part of the landscape in films. The gaze the director focuses on the female form turns them (females) into objects, whose appearance is used to deliver a strong visual and erotic impact that provokes the male desire. I support Mulvey s argument that, womanas icon, displayed for the gaze and enjoyment of men, the active controllers of the look, (Mulvey 28). Mulvey is saying that film directors are using techniques, like camera angle or movement, to further enforce the idea of a woman s body being a sexual object. The creation of an active male gaze in film is used to derive pleasure from being able to look at an oversexualized female form tailored to the desires of the men. Consequently, making the female no longer an actual living person, they are now just part of the landscape of a bigger work of art. Therefore, reinforcing the societal standard representation of the perfect and powerful ideal ego of the male character, and the image of the passive and powerless female character. In his article Visual Drive and Cinematic Narrative: Reading Gaze Theory in Lacan, Hitchcock, and Mulvey, Clifford Manlove reaffirms Mulvey s claim by stating that, Patriarchal influence upon cinema is found primarily in pleasure ; that is to say, the pleasure in looking... (Manlove 84). Manlove s point reinforces the scopophilia tendencies that Mulvey says are present in films. The brand of Old Spice already does have a good reputation and is one of the leading brands in men s health and cleanliness behind Axe brand. In this paper, the true nature of the gladiators will be investigated by analysing the cultural context surrounding the definition of an athlete throughout history. Reference 1: Reid, H. L. (2006). Was the Roman gladiator an athlete? Journal of the Philosophy of Sport, 33(1), 37 49. The article Was the Roman Gladiator an Athlete by Heather Reid discussed the debate many historians have regarding the nature of the events and spectacles in which Roman gladiators typically engaged. Heather Reid has published many articles in ancient philosophy, especially as it relates to sport and athleticism. She is a professor of philosophy at Morningside College in Iowa. Many historians do not consider Roman gladiators to be ancient athletes. Historians classified gladiators more as entertainers than athletes due to the fact ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Morelos military efforts were hampered by differences with fractious civilian allies and by his decision to establish a representative government at a time. In 1815, Morelos was captured by Spanish colonial authorities, tried and executed for treason in San CristГіbal Ecatepec on 22 December. After ten years of civil war and the death of two of its founders, by early 1820 the independence movement was stalemated and close to collapse. The rebels faced stiff Spanish military resistance and the apathy of many of the most influential criollos. The violent excesses and populist zeal of Hidalgo s and Morelos s irregular armies had reinforced many criollos fears of race and class warfare, ensuring their grudging acquiescence to conservative Spanish rule until a less bloody path to independence could be found. It was at this juncture that the machinations of a conservative military caudillo coinciding with a successful liberal rebellion in Spain, made possible a radical realignment of the proindependence forces. Homelessness in the United States Essay According to the National Student Campaign Against Hunger and Homelessness, approximately 3.5 million people are homeless each year, while 36.3 million live in households without enough food. This statistic only reflects the United States, and to many people, it just doesn t make sense. For instance Alfredzine Black of the YWCA in Marion, Indiana says, I don t understand why we have so much povertyin the richest country in the world! Citizens of the United Stateshave a hard time defining and identifying poverty in their communities, so the country should crate a consistent and accurate measure of poverty. This number amounts to over 20 percent of the world s population....(Introdution) The World Bank monitors poverty and homelessness around the world, but other agencies focus on evaluating the United States alone. One of these is the United States Census Bureau. In the United States, the Census Bureau sets the official poverty line. The figure used to compute a person s poverty status includes any earnings, Social Security payments, child support, or other assistance. Then, using the size of the family and the ages of the family members, the Census Bureau determines which poverty threshold applies...According to this poverty measure, 12.5 percent of the U.S. population lived in poverty in 2007. (Introdution) These studies may be biased or skewed depending on the information available to Census Bureau and World Bank employees who conduct them or the factors used to determine who is poor. For example, the factors taken into consideration by the Census Bureau may contribute to faulty results, since they only determine who is under the poverty line after they calculate how much Social Security money or other assistance the applicants receive. It seems like it would make much more sense to learn how well the subjects of the studies are doing on their own before they are assisted, and maybe this way an accurate measure of the homeless population could be obtained, but ... • 45. Essay The Greek Economy The Greek economy was a result of the combination of slaves, citizens and Metics. The Metic, however, was the driving and most important force behind the Greek economy. The slave was used only when seen fit. The citizen saw work as below the dignity of a free man. He left to others the labors that he was unwilling to perform himself. Firstly, it must be noted that any prejudice against manual labor among the Greeks was of comparatively late origin. Certainly, in the Homeric age, to labor with one s hands was no disgrace. The prowess of Odysseus comes to mind, who was a mighty worker and built his own house and even his own bedstead. (Hom. Od.13, 31 34) There was no prejudice against manual labor in the time of Solon either, who decreed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This new found standing gave the citizen the view that he was above manual labor. The plunder gained from wars, and after the founding of the Delian League, the riches gained set up new standards of values and conduct. With the increased wealth, fortunes were made overnight. The citizen enjoyed himself more and saw those who had to work for a living with contempt. Also, with the increased affluence, citizens were able to pay the Metic to carry out trade. Herodotus remarked upon this as something quite new, that the citizens practice no trade and only war, which is their hereditary calling. Now, whether this separation, like other customs has come to Greece from Egypt I cannot exactly judge. I know that in Thrace and Scythia and Persia and Lydia and nearly all foreign countries those who learn trades and their descendants are held in less esteem than the rest of the people, and those who have nothing to do with artisan s work, especially men who are free to practice war, are highly honored. (Herod. 2, 166 167) This is a testament that the Greek citizen had shifted away from work and had elevated himself upon a pedestal. Thus creating a demand for highly skilled laborers, which was filled by the Metics. Aristotle and Plato simply would not allow or accept that a man, whose whole energies were devoted to making a living, could possibly at the same time fulfill his duties as a citizen ... Use Of Linkedin Authority For Career Branding Purposes ESSAYS42700 6 How to use LinkedIn authority for career branding purposes Image http://assets3.thrillist.com/v1/image/1492657/size/tmg slideshow_xl Start by picking a brand focus, which you may better know as a brand principle. When people refer to a brand principle in business, they are referring to the rule a company lives by, or an aspect of the company or its products. It is a company s way of saying, We stand for this, and your brand focus should be a similar thing. It is similar (but not the same) because you need to show people what you stand for, but you also need to highlight something specifically terrific about yourself. Tip Think of yourself as selling a service instead of selling a product. The service is your time and expertise. Creating a brand friendly title Your title needs to in some way reflect your brand focus. It doesn t have to state it overtly, and it may look at little tacky if you do, but it should give readers a hint around what to expect. The biggest mistake that people make is to state their current job in their title/headline. For example, your brand may be that you are an exemplary biomedical scientist who deals with fecal matter. However, you may currently be working as a meter maid since having your baby. Some users would make the mistake of writing that they were a meter maid in the title/headline. Even though it is true, it is not a brand friendly title, since a brand friendly title/headline would either state that the profile ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Pablo Neruda is a person who would be easily liked as he was an open soul and authored gentle poetry. POETRY analysis If you forget me by Pablo Neruda is a poem that has a peaceful and calming aura. My initial thought when the thought was one of confusion as the poem didn t make complete sense. If you forget me is based upon the subject of forgetting. This poem was composed to demonstrate that if you ve forgotten someone, don t worry for they ve already forgotten you. Although, if you find yourself thinking of them often, then so are they. If thinking of them is a routine, then you should find them. Neruda has conveyed this message through stanzas four and six. If suddenly you forget me do not look for me, for I shall already have forgotten you. if each day, each hour, you feel that you are destined for me with implacable sweetness, if each day a flower climbs up to your lips to seek me, ah my love, ah my own, in me all that fire is repeated, in ... This discussion is not limited to fast bowling but applies to general skill acquisition as a whole. Most of the research related to fast bowling has focused on biomechanics and back injury prevention and very limited work has been done with factors contributing to bowling speeds. This limited amount mainly consists of theoretical papers, which provide a synthesis of arguments from different papers rather than using a dataset to deduce empirical evidence. The difficultly associated with conducting experiments with a small sample size (limited number of bowlers) and a small number of observations (few deliveries per bowler) may be the reason for the lack of research in this area. A fast bowler s training involves a lot more strength and conditioning than a batsman or any other type of bowler. This highlights the fact that anthropometric factors are of great significance to generating high bowling speeds. This research will attempt to identify the most important anthropometric factors and how well those possibly explain the difference(s) in bowling speeds. To
