Steroids In Sports
Steroids Have No Place in Sports Steroid abuse has become a huge problem in professional sports
today. Athletes are now using steroids to gain a competitive edge over their opponents. Also, the
athletes are using the steroids to recover quickly from major injuries or surgeries. Many former
superstar athletes have been caught taking steroids during the season and offseason. Professional
athletes take steroids to gain a competitive edge over their opponents in any way possible. Fame and
money are two of the most obvious reasons that many athletes have taken assorted steroids. Some
steroids including anabolic steroids, which are the most commonly used, are taken to help gain muscle
mass. Some superstar athletes that have been caught taking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Many children all across the United States and other countries try to replicate their favorite superstar
athlete. Many athletes become the children s idol and once the child learns that the athlete has cheated
the game the athlete plays the child no longer looks up to the athlete. It is almost gotten to the point
where no athlete that excels in a particular sport can be trusted. Every time a single athlete becomes
great at their respective sport, speculation of steroid abuse immediately follows. Furthermore, steroids
are terrible for the sports world in general. Athletes who abuse steroids cheat the game and
themselves. The use of performance enhancing drugs by professional athletes, or doping, has been
acknowledged as a problem since at least the 1960s (Performance Enhancing Drugs In Sports Fast

Helen Keller Contributions
A global citizen is someone who represents resilience, values diversity, recognizes social injustice and
works towards changing it. All of these values were thoroughly represented by the personality of and
the life lead by Miss Helen Keller. Despite the fact that she was left permanently both deaf and blind
at the age of 19 months she overcame numerous challenges and learned to communicate, eventually
earning a degree from one of the leading universities in the United States. In doing so she represented
the first quality of global citizenship, resiliency. Helen Keller was a huge believer in the ability of all
people to do great things in the world. She believed that no matter what your disabilities be it
deafness, blindness, amputation or otherwise you could do great things, and thus she represented the
second quality of global citizenship, believing in the value of diversity. Helen Keller was a major
social activist for the disabled community of the 20th century, she contributed to the recognition and
support of them in numerous ways, from causing braille to become the world s standard alphabet for
the blind to being one of the founders of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) Helen helped
countless numbers of people and inspired countless more. Helen Keller s actions truly made her one of
the greatest global citizens of the 20th century and arguably all time.
Without a doubt Helen Keller has faced a great number of challenges throughout almost her entire

Data mining is the procedure of identifying new hidden, insights and unexpected patterns in large
data. Analyzing and exploring the huge volume of data sets and information becomes increasingly
very difficult. Visualization of data mining helps to deal with a flood of data and information. As a

The Great Depression Of The United States
Mary has appeared 9 major approved times by the Catholic Church. She appears in times of trouble to
urge people to recommit themselves to the church and inspire the conversion of sinners to Christianity.
Paragraph on Marian Apparitions, the 9 sites One of these modern apparitions of the Virgin Mother
was in Banneux, Belgium in 1933. 1929 saw the Wallstreet Crash in the United States which prompted
the Great Depression. This dramatic downfall of the United States economy had repercussions in
Europe, which lead to large unemployment rates and poverty. The global climate at the time would ve
socially and financially affected this small farming village. If the village was feeling in stride with the
rest of the world, they were most likely feeling very disheartened. In this apparition the blessed
mother chose to appear to an 11 year old girl, Mariette Becco. Banneux is a small town southeast of
Liège; it was a poor farming village centered on its church. Beautiful valleys of Ambleve, Vesdre, and
Hoëgne surround the town. The house that Mariette Becco lived in was small with a garden in the
front; the climate was humid and swampy. Across the street from her house was the edge of the Eifel
Forest. The Mother Mary appeared to a young girl named Mariette. Mariette lived with her mother,
father, and 10 younger siblings in their 4 bedroom house. The family was poor and although her father
was born Catholic they were not normal attendees at their local church, which makes

Existential and Expressive Arts Therapy Essay
Existential and Expressive Arts Therapy Saré Gebhardt GEXTH 5102.01 Karen Estrella November
30, 2008 Sometime in the late eighties, Shaun McNiff, Sr. Kathleen Burke and I sat in a small pub in
Cleveland, Ohio. It was after midnight when conversation turned to my writing project, this book. Sr.
Kathleen asked, What s the title going to be? Well, I replied, the working title is Existential Art
Therapy. Shaun sighed. Bruce, don t be redundant. All art is existential. ...I have thought often of
Shaun s admonition. He is right, all art is existential. Perhaps that is why the concepts...have held up
as the world of health care has revolutionized, i.e., all art has to do with the basic human experience of
life as it is. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Expressive Arts Therapy within the Existential Framework Not much has been written about the use
of expressive arts in existential practice. Pat Allen, one of the founders of the open studio approach to
art therapy... decided to experiment with having people make art alongside each other and be of
service to each other during the process, hence the Open Studio Approach (Story, 2007). This
approach is based upon three elements; intention, attention and witness (Story, 2007). Story continues
to explain what a session would look like, an Open Studio session begins with art
making...participants are encouraged to focus their intention towards what they would like to
understand, change or accept about themselves (2007). This is the start of the participant developing
self awareness. Following this, is a time for each person in the group to sit before their art...
(participants) are encouraged to pay attention to their bodily sensations, judgments and reactions
(Story, 2007). The concept of dialoging with the art is often used at this stage. Allen then had
individuals write for a length of time about what they had experienced during their time sitting with
the art. As the studio participants gather as a group, individuals may share their writing if they wish.
The other participants are there to witness, to place no judgments and do not interrupt during this time.
This open studio idea was labeled as an art therapy process.

Hate Crime And Social Dominance Theory
Animals don t hate, and we re supposed to be better than them , is a quote by Elvis Presley. Hatred can
be defined as deep feeling of resentment or anger toward another person, group, or thing. It has caused
violent acts of anger and rage. Hate crimes are crimes that are motivated by racial, sexual, or other
prejudice, typically one involving violence (Oxford Dictionary). An example of a hate crime is the
murder of an African American man, by a group of white men, in Mississippi. This crime carries
several characteristics of hate crime, and supports the Social Dominance Theory.
The first characteristic that this hate crime exhibited is that the haters took time to go look for an
African American to victimize in an unfamiliar area. A group of white men, who disliked black
people, went to a party in Puckett. There they discussed going to Mississippi capital to find African
Americans to harass. The men went to Mississippi, and bullied unknown black men and women
during the night. The white driver, Deryl Dedmon, drove over a black man named James Craig
Anderson with his vehicle, killing him. Going to an unfamiliar area, which the white men did in this
murder, is a characteristic of hate crime. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The men had the intentions of finding an African American to harass that night, not anyone is
particular. In fact, they harassed many African Americans before killing James by making fun of them,
using abusive language and throwing items such as empty beer bottles at them. When they came
across James, they had first beaten him, and then Deryl Dedmon drove over him with his truck while
another friend made a video. James was a victim killed by people he didn t know, and that is another
characteristic of a hate

The Importance Of Modern Human Progress
Firstly we have to define modern human progress, which is defined as the theory that advances in
technology, science, and social organization inevitably produce an improvement in the human
condition. 1 This means that people become happier in terms of quality of life, economic development
and lack of crime.
It is the culmination of modern technology and freeing yourself from the shackles of society s
previous social preconceptions.
With that said the Catholic church harbours some questionable ethical beliefs; contraception, divorce,
end of life care and their attitude to abortion.
They believe that life begins at conception so undergoing an abortion is a grave moral sin. They argue
that a zygote is not a potential person but a person with potential.
The Catholic church is the world s largest religious group united under one leader (the Pope) so
therefore it has tremendous influence over world politics. This means that when the pope says I
declare that direct abortion, that is, abortion willed as an end or as a means, always constitutes a grave
moral disorder, since it is the deliberate killing of an innocent human being 2 a lot of people believe
his orders and deny innocent women their right to choose.3
Mother Teresa was also a staunch opponent of abortion saying that If a mother can kill her own child,
what is left but for us to kill each other. 4 She has a tremendous amount of leverage in this matter.
It can be argued that abortion is good for society as a whole as Steven Levitt found a strong link
between legalised abortion and the fall in crime rates in the late 1990s. This is because abortion was
legalised in 1973 in the USA and crime rates fell sharply 20 years later. This is down to the fact that
children more likely to cause trouble (from teenage, single parent households) simply weren t being
born as women in this group were having abortions instead.5
An abortion is a women s right as it benefits her mental well being as having an unwanted child puts
an undebatable amount of strain on a woman. It also affects her financial well being, as a child can
cost around $233,6106 which is a substantial amount of money for anyone. Especially for teenage
mothers who are the most likely group of

Lawrence Vs Texas Legal Individualism
Legal Individualism is a legal interpretation that emphasizes liberty, self reliance and independence.
Legal individualism means everyone is equal based on law system there is no external standard that
we can convincingly propose and maintain the separation of equality and inequality and also every
individual becomes the bearers of legitimate rights. The legal individualism expresses American
culture because of in an individualistic society, the law preserves the idea that everyone can freely
choose to interact with others in their own way whether for economic, artistic, religious or romantic
purposes. Not everyone s choice will be fine. Not an individual is unreliable. Not that they can not
abuse their freedom. All this is granted. But no one is to make others the reason for their master, but
other people may be smart. Both the case Lawrence v. Texas, The Republic of Choices and Bellah s
habits of heart mention that legal individualism is deeply in the America society nowadays. The case
of Lawrence v. Texas involves two adults who fully and mutually agree to engage in sexual acts that
are common to homosexual lifestyles. The state can not belittle their own survival or control their own
destiny by proclaiming private sex as criminal acts. Many commentators interpret opinion as a liberal
ethical approach that fundamentally broadens privacy and freedom of constitutional rights to cover all
no victim crimes. Judge Scalia responded to the view that the exclusion of the

Ferdinand, Isabella, One King Ferdinand And Isabella

One King, one Queen, otherwise known as Ferdinand and Isabella. Ferdinand and Isabella were
cousins. Later on in 1469 they became husband and wife. Isabella became the quartermaster and
financier (isabellaqueenofspain.wordpress.com), while Ferdinand was the leader of the army. Together
they expanded and ruled the Spanish Empire. (spainthenandnow.com). Isabella was born on April 27,
1451. She was born in a city of Madrigal and raised Catholic. Her mother s name was also Isabella.
Her mother was the Princess of Portugal. King John II, of Castile, was her father. Isabella never really
knew her father as he died when she was only four years old. Isabella was well educated and from a
very young age was taught she could achieve great things. When King John II died, he left the
Kingdom of Castile to Isabella s step brother Henry. (Bucklin). Later when Isabella s brother died, she
had to fight to become ruler of Castile against her Niece Juana who tried to take over the throne.
Ferdinand would help her in the war to succeed her step brother and take over as ruler (Azcona).
Isabella s cousin, also known as her husband, Ferdinand, was born in 1451. His father was King John
II of Aragon and his mom was Juana Enríquez of Castile. They were both of Castilian origin. Unlike
Isabella, he had a father figure and would succeed his father as King of Aragon. From his father he
learned integrity, courage and reserve. Ferdinand was raised by his parents to become a king and a
devout Catholic. (ferdinandandisabella.weebly.com) He became known as Ferdinand the Catholic
(Azcona). In 1469 Ferdinand and Isabella were married. The marriage was really an arrangement for
purposes of taking control of Spain. Their union would bring about accomplishments that would go
down in history. The first main accomplishment was that they unified Spain. Their marriage unified
the regions of Castile and Aragon. Before Ferdinand and Isabella took over, Spain was separated and
confused. (ferdinandandisabella.weebly.com) The couple would share equal ruling power. As time
went on, their combined forces would make Spain into a strong world power. (history.com).

Accidental Shootings
As of now the United States currently has 45 states that allow the open carry of guns in public,
however there are still rules and regulations to come with the law. Florida not being included into
those 45 states, has an estimated 1.4 million concealed weapons permits meaning they are legal able to
possess a handgun that is stored away and not visible to others. Well if you allow all of those permit
holders to just walk around in the clear day with a gun, there s going to be a higher risk factor of
accidental shootings or other related issues due specifically to the simple access to a weapon. On the

most responsible adults respectfully follow the laws and tend to not misuse their handguns, or rifles.
The belief is public safety should be handled by professionally, trained and qualified police officers,
not citizens who hold little or possibly no experience training. Well, with responsible armed citizens
on our streets, it gives us another form of safety because one will be able to protect the public rather
than rely on the police force. Police are not always able to be at the scene in time to stop crimes from

Exceptions Under The Exclusionary Rule
In criminal justice the exclusionary rule prohibits the use of illegally seized evidence or evidence that
violates the offenders rights under the fourth, fifth, or sixth amendment. There are three exceptions
under the exclusionary rule, fruit of the poisoned tree , inevitable discovery exception, and the good
faith exception. These three exceptions each allow evidence that can be considered illegally obtained
to be admissible in a court of law, given it fits in certain constraints.
Fruit of the poisoned tree is a term for any verbal or physical evidence obtained by using illegally
obtained evidence. The basis of the fruit of the poisoned tree concept is that like a poisoned tree would
bear poisonous fruit, evidence that is obtained because of illegally obtained evidence is also therefore
illegally obtained. This concept could be considered tier one under the exclusionary rule. The
exclusionary rule and its counterparts were first applied in courts in 1914. The idea of the exclusionary
rule is to maintain proper police procedure. If police officers present legally obtained evidence, they
have a higher chance of getting the offender convicted. This works as a rewards system. ... Show more

The Carnage of World War I
The carnage of world war one was the result of the clash between new technologies, but old strategies.
Blitzkrieg warfare would be the first form of modern military tactics for it fully utilizes the
technological advancements of that time. The term Blitzkrieg was not invented by the Germans, but
by an English magazine that described the invasion of Poland (Showalter). While many accredit the
invention of Blitzkrieg warfare to Heinz Guderian, Germany s Chief of Mobile Troops during WWII,
it was actually invented far before that. In fact, it was developed right after WWI after seeing the
devastating effects of trench warfare(Showalter). Ironically, the basis of Blitzkrieg warfare was also
laid by German Field Marshall Alfred von Schlieffen of the famous Schlieffen plan of
WWI(Showalter). The basic essence of Blitzkrieg warfare was built upon the belief that Germany was
always going to be out resourced and out numbered in every war and thus in order to win it, the
Germans must strike hard and fast and penetrate deep behind enemy lines(Showalter). Thus,
Blitzkrieg warfare was the most effective military tactic of its time because it utilized all of the
technology of its time, it not only utilized physical warfare, but also psychological warfare, and
because Germany s opponents were not prepared for this kind of warfare.
One of the main reasons the Germans were so successful with Blitzkrieg warfare was because
Blitzkrieg warfare utilized all of the modern technologies to its

Gun Control Argumentative Analysis
The right to bear arms, the Second Amendment, allowing citizens of the United States to own operate
firearms. However, when this was written, most would agree that gun control was not as important as
it is in today s world. Gun control in the United States needs to be more heavily restricted, access to
weapons is a factor in many things, from crime, to mass shootings. If there is a problem, there must be
a solution to solve that problem; so if guns are a factor in so many problems, then why would the
United States government eradicate them? Gun control is a logical concept to implement into a society
where citizens are allowed to own, carry, and operate their own firearms.

Not everyone can agree to the exact definition of a mass shooting, Not every shooter has the same
motives, or executes their attack the exact same way as the shooter before him/her, but they all do
have one thing in common, access to guns. Mass shootings are a vulgar, cowardly act, but they will
not stop as long as people have access to assault weapons, or any weapons for that matter. Some
people against gun control would compromise and ban only assault weapons, but it is not only assault
weapons that are used for mass shootings, the list of firearms that have been used in mass shootings
range from handguns, all the way up to high powered rifles. The gunman of Virginia Tech on April 16,

Everybody Dance Now Analysis
Sun Woo Kim: Paper #1
Regardless of the era, people who belong to it will dance at least once in their lifetime. One can go as
far as to say that dancing is crucial to one s overall happiness. Realizing this significance, C+C Music
Factory produced a song called Gonna Make You Sweat to inspire the world to dance. It reached its
peak in the week of February 5th, the day I was born and stayed on the Billboard 100 number one for
mere two weeks.
Gonna Make You Sweat, or also known as Everybody Dance Now, is a song by C+C Music Factory.
This song is comprised of two components, the rap and vocal, performed by Freedom Williams and
disco/house artist Martha Wash. After it was released in December 1990, it was considered a
worldwide smash and reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks in February 1991.
This song was also number one on Billboard s Top R B Singles and on Hot Dance Music/Club Play as

followed by the rap of Freedom Williams. This illustrates the combination of both rap and gospel type
vocal. The chorus gives the song repetition that allows the audience to feel at ease and enjoy the
upbeat music. Also, Wash s chorus is very high pitched and produces much tension within the listener;

about it (Gaskell 18). James, who is another servant, tells Hester that she has mistaken the wind
soughing among the trees for music (Gaskell 17). Hester must force Agnes, by way of rank, to reveal
that it is believed that the dead old lord , plays the organ (Gaskell 18). Miss Furnivall is first connected
with the music, when Hester claims that she thought it was her playing the organ (Gaskell 18). Being
that Miss Furnivall is deaf, and is therefore an unlikely musician, this insinuates that Miss Furnivall is
connected to this problem. However similar to A Christmas Carol , the music is suggested to be
derived from ghostly means, because the organ is found to be broken inside, therefore unable to be
played normally (Gaskell 18). This thought is later underlined when the child, Rosamond, goes
missing, and ghosts threaten the household, further emphasizing that a problem exists (Gaskell 20,24).
Music is suggested many ways to cause her problems between Miss Furnivall and her sister, Miss
Maude, rather than aid the sisters in a solution. Both sisters fell in love with the same man, a foreign
musician, whom their father had down from London to play music (Gaskell 26). The sisters develop a
rivalry over the foreigner (Gaskell 27). The foreigner is never given a name because it is suggested
that he is not consequential as a person, but rather as a problem between the sisters. As he is of lower
rank and not British, he is developed to play on Victorian fears, and social

Compare And Contrast The Three Philosophies Of The Zhou...
During one of the more important Chinese Dynasties, the Zhou Dynasty, three philosophies arose to
find the best way to have peace and order . China had many social, political, and economic problems.
Because of this, China split into three philosophies. These philosophies include Legalism,
Confucianism, and Daoism, all of these have some similarities and differences.
Confucianism is the philosophy that emphasizes proper behavior. Confucianism was founded by
Confucius, who is a famous Chinese philosopher. Confucius teachings permeated society , spreading
teachings of peace and order.Teaching about peace and order will help control their society.

that they should enforce strict laws with harsh punishments for negative behavior and rewards for
positive behavior. If you were a Legalist, you should behave or you are going to be in a great deal of
trouble. Rulers were often overthrown and were not to trust a single person, including their family.
Hanfeizi taught rulers that they need to have absolute power and military force backing them up. In
order to be a ruler, you needed to be a strong, strict, and independent person. A strength of Legalism is
that they were strict, which helped them control their society. A weakness of Legalism is that the rulers
were often overthrown. Legalism has very strong qualities which make them a positive philosophy. In

The Spiritual Baptist religion is a religion that is a combination of elements of the African and
Christian religions in which most of the customs and practiced doctrine are taken from the King James
Version of the Bible. Spiritual Baptists believe their religion was derived from John the Baptist. This
religion is a system of beliefs and practices e.g. baptism, pilgrimages, thanksgiving and mourning.
Some of the items used within this religion include the shepherd rod, cross, tariya, lothar, water,

Cultural Analysis of Boyz N the Hood Essay
The Boyz Next Door
Up until the early 1990s, the decay of inner city America largely went unnoticed by the general
American public. However, the rise in popularity of gangster rap and the release of such films as New
Jack City and Menace II Society drew the publics attention toward the largely ignored urban areas. Of
all the films in the genre that came out, though, one in particular stood out. Boyz N the Hood, directed
by John Singleton, became widely acknowledged as the definitive film for inner city African
Americans. Regardless of age, race, or religion, the film s powerful and gritty imagery captivated
audiences nationwide. Though many Americans had a general idea of the rough lifestyle endured by
many inner city dwellers, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other incidents again ranged from nonfatal stabbings and shootings to fistfights (Baker 4). The subject
matter in the film was so controversial and strikingly realistic that audiences nationwide broke out in
rage and rioted. Culturally the world was experiencing a facelift as well. Popular music was shifting
from the larger than life hair bands of the 1980s to the gritty gangster rap popularized by artists such
as N.W.A. and the 2 Live Crew. The hip hop movement was also being felt in the fashion world where
the popular styles tended to reflect what popular rappers were wearing in their music videos. As Susan
Bordo stated in her article, Beauty (Re)discovers the Male Body, the mainstream successes of hip hop,
along with the attractive rebellious images displayed by popular artists of the genre, lead to a
widespread hip hop inspired trend in fashion that was popular among all classes of people (Bordo

of Thieves, and Beauty and the Beast helped rake in profits like never before seen. Also, the success of
Boyz N the Hood set off a spree of films directed towards the black audience with releases such as
Menace II Society and Dead Presidents. Of all the various aspects of Boyz N the Hood that received
critical acclaim, the realism of the film, above all, is what made the movie so powerful. Similarly to
real life, the characters deal with

Analysis Of The Article Of Rutabagas And Redeemers ...
In the years following the civil war, the Democratic Party within Texas was divided in many ways by
a variety of issues. Though united against Republicans and their liberal Reconstruction policies, Texas
Democrats in this period came from a variety of backgrounds and had unique motivations driving their
political sentiments. In the article Of Rutabagas and Redeemers: Rethinking the Texas Constitution of
1876, Patrick Williams argues against the pervasive characterization of the key factions in the
Democratic Party during the constitutional convention consisting of agrarian versus business minded
or new South interests. Williams contends that although convention contemporaries including noted
Rutabaga (a semi derogatory term for a delegate in league with the Grange) John Johnson came to
believe that the constitution of 1876 represented the triumph of farmers and their allies against
corporate driven progressive Democrats and their policies, the political reality was much more
complicated. To begin his assessment of the factional politics surrounding the constitution of 1876 and
the Redeemer convention that fashioned it, Williams points out that several historians who have
discussed post Civil war southern politics including Michael Perman, J. Morgan Kousser, and Seth
McKay do indeed ascribe to the paradigm of the rise of the agrarian rutabaga over the new South
cosmopolitan businessman. He attributes this perpetuation of the agrarian myth to contemporary

Why Schools Should Change School Lunches
Do you think your school needs improvements? I think my school has a few, but the lunches are easily
the most recognizable. The school board should change our lunches because they are microwaved,
they are not filling, and the school lunches have the same thing every day of the week. Seriously, none
of the kids like them, so just get us brand named foods.
To start things off, schools should definitely change is because they are microwaved. Most people
would prefer oven baked foods instead of frozen foods you just put under a light for 5 10 minutes.
Also sometimes with the microwaved food, it does not cook some of the meat all of the way, so
basically, there is a chance of poisoning your students. Another important fact about the microwaved

How do you expect a you kid to make throughout the day without any nutrients or energy to help the
stay awake, or to give them energy to make it through gym class. Not only does it affect school, but it
also causes poor performances in sports and other after school activities. Also if kids do not get the
proper nutrients it can put them in a bad mood, and nobody likes a mean, grumpy kid walking around
school. Most students do not eat breakfast in the mornings, so not having a proper lunch just makes
that even worse. Now, for the final, and more of a less known issue is how our schools have the order
of lunch every week. For most people, it gets boring and repetitive when we have to eat the same food
over and over again. The only thing they change is the fruits and maybe the chips, but that is it!
Chicken sandwich, steak nuggets, tacos, nachos, pizza, repeat. It is not even the good kind of pizza or
nachos, it is just some weird, fake, manufactured food. Since we eat the same food every week, it the
same uncooked, cold chunks in the food that we bite into all of the time. The worst part is that
sometimes on mondays, they give us leftovers, and look brand new! That is how you know they are

The Effects Of Solar Power On The Earth
Saving the earth
Imagine a typical family rushing out of the house to go to work or school. Many of the simple things
can be easily over looked, and while rushing out even more can be forgotten. Children can easily leave
things plugged in and parents can forget to turn the light switches off. Fossil fuels are wasted each
time someone forgets to conserve energy. This is a problem because fossil fuels are nonrenewable.
This means that they can not be produced at the rate in which they are used. People of the United
States should not have to worry about when fossil fuels are going to run out. The Environmental
Protection Agency, also known as the EPA, should be given more control over how energy should be
made. By doing so the EPA would be promoting the use of solar power to help make renewable and
lasting energy. Solar power is a great use of alternative fuel because it protects the earth from further
harm, it allows the earth to be protected and assures lasting power for the future.
Overview of the Problem Nonrenewable energy is a problem in the United States. Wars have been
fought for the use of oil and other nonrenewable resources. One article even suggests that, The energy
crisis of the 1970 s drove up gasoline prices, sent the economy into a tailspin and prompted lawmakers
and government agencies to develop new energy polices. ( Are renewable energy sources viable
alternatives to fossil fuels ). For many years the question on people s minds has been, when are we

The Advantages Of Just In Time Manufacturing
Introduction Just In Time Manufacturing
Just in time manufacturing was a concept introduced to the United States by the ford motor company.
It works on a demand pull basis, contrary to hitherto used techniques, which worked on a production
push basis.
To elaborate further, under just in time manufacturing (colloquially referred to as just in time
production systems), actual orders dictate what should be manufactured, so that the exact quantity is
produced at the exact time that is required.
Just in time manufacturing goes hand in hand with concepts such as Kanban, continuous improvement
and total quality management (TQM).
Just in time production requires intricate planning in terms of procurement policies and the

Constant communication with the customer results in high customer satisfaction.
Over production is eliminated when just in time manufacturing is adopted.
Disadvantages Just In Time Systems
Following are the disadvantages of Adopting Just In Time Manufacturing Systems
Just in time manufacturing provides zero tolerance for mistakes, as it makes re working very difficult
in practice, as inventory is kept to a bare minimum.
There is a high reliance on suppliers, whose performance is generally outside the purview of the
manufacturer.
Due to there being no buffers for delays, production downtime and line idling can occur which would
bear a detrimental effect on finances and on the equilibrium of the production process.
The organization would not be able to meet an unexpected increase in orders due to the fact that there
are no excess finish goods.
Transaction costs would be relatively high as frequent transactions would be made.
Just in time manufacturing may have certain detrimental effects on the environment due to the
frequent deliveries that would result in increased use of transportation, which in turn would consume

Terrorism Amendment 14
Between 2006 2015 terrorism took away a total of 190,198 lives, (Number of casualties due to
terrorism). Combating terrorism means to take action on the unlawful use of violence and
intimidation, usually occurring against civilians. Government shouldn t be limited in combating
terrorism due to the historical impact, past government ruling, and effects on terrorism current day.
Throughout historical evidence government shouldn t be limited to combat terrorism. For instance,
according to amendment 14 no person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property without the due

According to oyez.org the Hamdi vs. Rumsfeld case was a case that recognized the power of the US
government to detain enemy combats. When talking about the enemy s, terrorism definitely is an
example of enemy combat . Therefore, the government shall be enabled to combat terrorism.
Moreover, Amendment 4 states that it is the right of the people to be secure in one s personal
belongings (property, papers, and effects against unreasonable searches). When terrorism strikes, they
are technically breaking amendment 4. For that reason government must act on terrorism to protect
one s property. Likewise, amendment 14 is no person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or the process
of law, (Amendments, 1998. Pg.40). Government shall act accordingly to all amendments. Part of the
amendments goal is to keep the people safe. Combating terrorism shall not be limited because when
doing that they are protecting us. However, One group that will oppose combating terrorism would be
terrorists themselves. They oppose combating terrorism because it makes their jobs harder. For
example, when the US is sending troops to the middle east to fight terrorism, they will not be able to

Essay on ‘Making History’ by Brian Friel.

In Brian Friels play Making History the reader wonders whether the character of Hugh O Neill is more
influenced by private feelings or public duty. By private feeling s I mean beliefs, private views and
opinions and his public duty is his obligations to the Irish people. It should be noted that Friels
portrayal of the character O Neill caused great controversy amongst readers. The strong Irish man O

This was to represent O Neill in his later life. O Neill ends his speech about England with that trivial
little hurt, that single failure in years of courtesy has pulled relentlessly in the corner of my heart.
Until now. And for no reason that pulse is quiet and all my affection for Sir Henry returns without
qualification. (Pause.) But all that is of no interest to anyone but myself.
Here we see Hugh s troubled mind. We see that he all of a sudden does not want to live up to his Great
Irish name but instead live the way Sir Henry wanted him too. Friel s use of the dramatic (pause)
shows how Hugh s mind is in constant battle. He is unaware what to do next. However it is because of
his public duty that he realises this means nothing to anyone else but himself. Hugh realises he must
continue in fighting against the English Rule and pushes his private feelings a side.
In the opening scene of the play we see a very different Hugh O Neill to what the audience would

thoughts. He is distracted as he is thinking about the arrival of his new wife Mabel. Harry is trying to

The Importance Of Life In A Boarding School
Boarding school compares to an exclusive club as there is a huge advantage of attending boarding
school for students can garner social and cultural capital. Being in a boarding school, in of itself, is a
privilege. However, the students themselves in Old School see privilege tied strictly to socioeconomic
background. Nonetheless, students divide themselves between the disadvantaged and privileged, while
others put on a facade to appear more wealthy. The book tells the story of an unnamed narrator, most
likely Tobias Wolff himself, who attends a pretentious male boarding school during the 1960s.
Therefore, the narrator, a competitive writer, competes with other boys alike to gain the attention of
famous authors and poets like Ernest Hemingway and Robert Frost. While social pressures force
students to worry with their social status, the narrator becomes fixated on writing stories that are
utopian in nature so not to reveal his mundane and blue collared lifestyle. Privileged students from
upper class backgrounds experience the utmost respect of the school and simultaneously never have to
worry about an empty future. Specifically, Jeff Purcell is one of the characters in the novel who comes
from a long line of privileged heritage and is proud, stubborn, and judgmental of every other student.
In the opening of the novel, the narrator notes that class is a depth of ease in certain boys, their innate
affable assurance that they would not have to struggle for a place in the world,

Modern Revival Of The Cornett
The cornetto is a wooden wind instrument widely used throughout Europe from the 15th through the
17th centuries. It s also called the cornett, which is not to be confused with the trumpet like instrument
called the cornet. A hybrid between a woodwind (like the recorder) and a brass instrument (like the
trumpet), it was a long and slender tube, curved to one side, and had open finger holes. Sound was
produced by blowing into a cup shaped mouthpiece, like that of the trumpet. The combination of the
mouthpiece and finger holes results in difficulties of intonation (pitch) and embouchure (mouth
positions). Once mastered, it s extremely agile and has a range of dynamics and expressions that span
between brassy trumpet sounds to incredibly sweet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the classification system of Hornbostel and Sachs, they are classified as trumpets with
finger holes . They flourished mainly in the sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries, but began a
decline in popularity from the second half of the seventeenth; from 1700 onwards their use fell off
dramatically, even though in some parts of Europe they persisted until the early 1800s. Their modern
revival dates only from the second half of the twentieth century; performers such as Otto Steinkopf in
Germany and Christopher Monk in England were among the first to play cornetts in public in the
1950s.
Whereas most renaissance and baroque instruments have direct descendants or analogues (for
example, modern trombones and sackbuts, modern and baroque violins, etc.), this is not true for
cornetts; no mainstream modern instrument combines a lip vibrated mouthpiece with woodwind style
fingering, and this lack of any kind of continuous performing tradition necessitated a re invention of
both their playing technique and usage. Cornetts are usually considered to be difficult to play well, but
performance standards have improved dramatically over the last fifty years or so.
If ever an instrument belonged to the lower strata of society, the cornett did. They were the poor white
trash among musical instruments. Not only were they cheaply made, but they were noted for their
poverty of musical qualities. Constructed of wood and covered with

The Lessons Learned From Park Play
Governments Are Overfunding Parks The lessons learned from park play are not comparable to what
sidewalk play has to offer. Learning Responsibility on City Sidewalks by Jane Jacobs opens the reader
s eyes on the benefits of simple street play. In her passage, Jane Jacobs compares the more beneficial
effects of sidewalk play compared to the overpraised parks. Jacobs tells us that parks don t build a
stronger form of morality and help with developing more knowledge on city life like sidewalk play do.
Park children are given less of a chance to visually learn how to become well rounded citizens in
society from adults around them. Parks are not as amazing as they re believed to be from the public.
They do not offer the many chances to learn compared to what sidewalk interactions have to offer.
Plus, the playgrounds do not have enough adults to actually watch over and teach children the good
and the bad. Playgrounds are built for the concept of having fun, but they do not guide and raise
children to be good citizens. I believe that government should not heavily fund parks because parks do
not revere the essential teachings needed in society such as social abilities. I believe that instead of
overfunding parks we could benefit more by having the government actually invest more in club
sports because I think club teams open up more of an opportunity for people to develop their social
skills, instead of playing in a park. Club sports are provided in many cities but each one I

The Syrian Wars
The Syrian Wars were one of the most devastating in the Hellenistic world; they changed the political
and economic landscape of the region permanently in a way that hadn t happened since the conquests
of Alexander. These wars brought about the end of the Pharaohs, they allowed Rome to come and
seize Egypt and Syria, and Parthia to annex what was left of the Seleukid dynasty. The massive impact
these wars had upon the Hellenic world cannot be understated. Egypt would never rise to its former
glory. It would become another province of Rome, later to be held by the Byzantines, and then
Fatimids, where it would not regain true independence until 1922, shaking itself from British colonial
rule. It is a shame that these wars are not given the rigorous study that they deserve. This paper aims
to explore the Syrian Wars in three ways. It will begin with discussing how the death of Alexander the
Great and his inability to form a sustainable bureaucracy and a proper heir set the stage for his
generals to fight each other for his empire. It will focus upon the actions of Ptolemy and his
successors, and their role in the Syrian wars, and how Ptolemaic power declined as the wars raged on.
It will conclude by explaining how the aftermath of these wars lead to the demise of Ptolemaic power,
and their eventual absorption into Rome. Because of the length of the timeline that will be discussed
here (this paper will attempt to describe 200 years of history in under 15 pages), a narrative

In this case, the employees compared themselves with a self inside situation, which is comparing their
current situation with it was before. They found their ration decreased because of income (effort paid)
increase and outcome (salary received) decrease. Since they regarded themselves as under rewarded,
they took actions to reduce tension and want to bring the situation back to normal. For example,
symbolic protest was emerged. They started to work according to the rules and refused an overtime
work. Thus, this is one kind of illegitimate political behavior under power in action.
Another problem faced by Cathay is the conflict between its management and employees. As
mentioned above, the ground crews perceived that the company has negatively affected their
concerned working conditions. This conflict may be resulted from poor communication between both
parties, lack of openness of the company, and failure to respond to employees needs. It is obvious that
Cathay failed to respond to its crews needs. Many ground staff complaint there is an increasing
amount of work and overtime works. Cathay, however, did not notice the heavy workload among the
staff. Thus, there is felt conflict appears among the affected employees, who have negative emotions,
may create hostility, mistrust, and negative interpretation to the company.

Tomb Raider Research Paper
Before Angelina Jolie took the mantle as Lara Croft in the movies, there was the iconic video game
that has inspired a generation of players and video game enthusiasts. Tomb Raider that features Lara
Croft was a hit and was critically acclaimed for a number of reasons. One, the game is packed with
adventure, with the heroine, Lara Croft taking the lead in the exploration and discovery. Two, the
video game was also about a female hero, something that was novel during the 1990s when games are
dominated by male heroes. These are just two reasons why Tomb Raider has become a hit during
1990s among video game players. But it the influence and effect of Tomb Raider is not just felt in the
movies, even the casino gaming industry managed to get inspired by the game and heroine. To be
exact, it was Microgaming that was inspired to create a game that was inspired by Tomb Raider. The
result is an action packed and adventure video slot game that can appeal to ... Show more content on

The wild for the game is the Tomb Raider, which replaces other symbols. Winning combinations made
by the wilds will offer the best jackpots, with a maximum jackpot of x7,500 the wager, provided the
player gets all 5 wilds. The scatter is Lara Croft with her hand gun, and getting 3 scatters will push the
player to play the free spin mode. We also commend the designers of the game for adding a bonus
symbol, that can lead the player to play the bonus game. This part of the game can be activated if the
player gets 3 bonus Tomb Raider symbols. This bonus feature of Tomb Raider can help players boost
their winnings by x2,500 the wager.
Betting Options
Tomb Raider is great for mid limit bettors, and if you decide to bet the minimum amount for all lines,
then you only need to prepare 7.50. But if you decide to take your chance on all lines, then players
should prepare 37.50 where 5 coins are placed on all lines.

Essay on Two Words
Two Words
The short story Two Words by Isabel Allende is a tale about a girl who went by the name of Belisa
Crepusculario. She had extreme desire to be the best at selling words, since the first time she saw
words in the sports section of the newspaper. Belisa learned to read from a priest for 20 pesos and read
the dictionary until she knew it cold. She went from the top of blistering cold mountains to scorching
hot coasts selling her words in markets and fairs. Belisa s words became popular fast and everyone
knew who she was. People waited for her from year to year to hear her words.
The main focus in this story is on the two words that she said to El Mulato that cursed him. This
shows that you can t be so quick to judge ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe that the author tries to lead the reader in to sympathizing for the people when the author
wrote, The rebels swept into town like a stampeding herd.... Chickens took wing, dogs ran for their
lives, women and children scurried out of sight, until the only living soul left in the market was Belisa
Crepusculario. Because this quote from the story shows how everyone s scared of both the Colonel
and El Mulato except for Belisa.
The setting is important in this story cause the story is set in Spain back in the time when women had
no rights and were only used to cook and clean. But Belisa contradicts society by putting a curse on El
Mulato a mighty all powerful man who everyone is scared of except Belisa. When Belisa curses El
Mulato the once all mighty man El Mulato is in the hands of a woman who defeated him.
When reading this short story I think that we are suppose to feel surprised after reading the story from
Belisa s accomplishments because Belisa went from being unpopular and poor to being the most
widely known and the most powerful at the end of the story. The message in this story is aimed to the
reader and it says that anyone can do anything they want if they put there mind to it, and if u have the
determination you can accomplish a lot no matter what you are dealt with in life. Another message in
the story is that no matter how strong or powerful one is there will always be someone bigger and
better.
When I first read this story I found it

Corrupt Bargain Research Paper
The election of 1824 introduced to the history of the United States what would be called the Corrupt
Bargain . After none of the candidates had been elected, only three of the four candidates were going
to have another chance to become president. When John Adams realized that he could not stand a
chance against Andrew Jackson, he proposed to Henry Clay, who had been eliminated from the list,
with an offer that Henry Clay could not resist. The plan was for Henry Clay to use his influence inside
the house to support John Adams in becoming president. Adams would make Henry Clay secretary of
state. Henry Clay knew that being secretary of state would eventually lead to becoming the president,
so he could not resist the offer. With the help of Henry

It s Complicated By Danah Boyd
In her book, It s Complicated, Danah Boyd expresses her views on modern day social media and the
modern day teenager s reliability with it. The book is comprised of 8 enlightening categories: identity,
privacy, addiction, danger, bullying, inequality, literacy, and searching for a public of their own.
Throughout the book, Boyd provides data, true stories, and factual conversations to help support her
main claim: social media has taken over our youth.
She conducts numerous interviews with teens of all races, ages, and genders. In the passage, Boyd
describes an interview she had with an 18 year old, Skyler, who explained to her mother that If you re
not on MySpace, you don t exist, (page 5). In today s world, the new MySpace is Snapchat, Instagram,
or Twitter, but Boyd claims that The spaces may change, but the organizing principles aren t different,
(page 5). She explains that regardless ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She also explains that whether or not one is logged onto the cool place determines whether or not you
truly are a cool person nowadays. Even though real physical destinations like the mall, school, or the
park were considered to be the cool places , those places have now shifted to clicking remember my
password and signing in. Boyd also pays close attention on her writing style and what emotions are
brought out because of it. She makes sure that she talks in the first person within her novel to make the
audience feel as if they are on a personal level with the author. This immediately makes the reader feel
more comfortable as they are being fed opinions on how they are running their lives wrongly (that is if
they are addicted to social media). Due to the fact that Boyd is writing a very controversial piece for

My Experience Of My Vacation
Before taking my last vacation, I was almost convinced that affordability and excitement could not
exist in the same sentence in today s economy. After several failed attempts of planning for an
inexpensive getaway, I decided to store the idea in the compartments of my mind. Nevertheless, the
opportunity presented itself six months ago in the form of an invitation. That s right! I was finally
going to get the mini vacation I was in search of, with all the bells and whistles in one package. The
invitation was extended to me, through Dimples and Diamonds empowerment group for women,
based out of Savannah, Georgia. Dimples and Diamonds had a weekend retreat planned for the last
week in September 2017 at Sonesta Resort on Hilton Head
Island. The island is located off the coastal region of South Carolina where it is known for it s rich
Gullah Geechee culture and recreational areas. The Sonesta reminded me of a huge burrito with
everything you wanted wrapped into one bite for our pleasure. The resort at Hilton Head offered an
economical and comfortable stay; as well as a broad array of activities for a group or an individual of
any age group. Sonesta presented a few packages for comfort and pleasure, that made planning a stay
for the weekend like a cake walk. The prices ranged from $250 per night individually or $135 per
night for groups. I chose the group package because I was traveling with a group of four. After taxes
and security fees were applied, the total cost was $450 for a three day weekend. The customer service
representative also informed me of additional discounts and rewards that could be used if we resided
at the resort. That wasn t a bad deal after all since the security fees were credited back to your account
after you checked out of the resort. The overall customer service experience was one that should go
down in the books. If you are one that pride yourself in great customer service; like myself, you could
not help but notice the small gestures of courtesy that the staff showed upon arrival and upon
departure. The atmosphere was welcoming with exceptional greeters. The aroma from various
restaurants and savory smells of the Gullah cuisine filled the air, accompanied by filtered water

She appears in times of trouble to urge people to recommit themselves to the church and inspire the conversion of sinners to Christianity. This dramatic downfall of the United States economy had repercussions in Europe, which lead to large unemployment rates and poverty. The global climate at the time would ve socially and financially affected this small farming village. If the village was feeling in stride with the rest of the world, they were most likely feeling very disheartened. In this apparition the blessed mother chose to appear to an 11 year old girl, Mariette Becco. Banneux is a small town southeast of Liège; it was a poor farming village centered on its church. Beautiful valleys of Ambleve, Vesdre, and Hoëgne surround the town. The house that Mariette Becco lived in was small with a garden in the front; the climate was humid and swampy. Across the street from her house was the edge of the Eifel Forest. The Mother Mary appeared to a young girl named Mariette. Mariette lived with her mother, father, and 10 younger siblings in their 4 bedroom house. Existential and Expressive Arts Therapy Essay Existential and Expressive Arts Therapy Saré Gebhardt GEXTH 5102.01 Karen Estrella November 30, 2008 Sometime in the late eighties, Shaun McNiff, Sr. Kathleen Burke and I sat in a small pub in Cleveland, Ohio. It was after midnight when conversation turned to my writing project, this book. Sr. Kathleen asked, What s the title going to be? Well, I replied, the working title is Existential Art Therapy. Shaun sighed. Bruce, don t be redundant. All art is existential. ...I have thought often of Shaun s admonition. He is right, all art is existential. Perhaps that is why the concepts...have held up as the world of health care has revolutionized, i.e., all art has to do with the basic human experience of life as it is. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Expressive Arts Therapy within the Existential Framework Not much has been written about the use of expressive arts in existential practice. Pat Allen, one of the founders of the open studio approach to art therapy... decided to experiment with having people make art alongside each other and be of service to each other during the process, hence the Open Studio Approach (Story, 2007). This approach is based upon three elements; intention, attention and witness (Story, 2007). Story continues to explain what a session would look like, an Open Studio session begins with art making...participants are encouraged to focus their intention towards what they would like to understand, change or accept about themselves (2007). This is the start of the participant developing self awareness. Following this, is a time for each person in the group to sit before their art... (participants) are encouraged to pay attention to their bodily sensations, judgments and reactions (Story, 2007). The concept of dialoging with the art is often used at this stage. Allen then had individuals write for a length of time about what they had experienced during their time sitting with the art. As the studio participants gather as a group, individuals may share their writing if they wish. The other participants are there to witness, to place no judgments and do not interrupt during this time. This open studio idea was labeled as an art therapy process. ... • 7. Hate Crime And Social Dominance Theory Animals don t hate, and we re supposed to be better than them , is a quote by Elvis Presley. Hatred can be defined as deep feeling of resentment or anger toward another person, group, or thing. It has caused violent acts of anger and rage. Hate crimes are crimes that are motivated by racial, sexual, or other prejudice, typically one involving violence (Oxford Dictionary). An example of a hate crime is the murder of an African American man, by a group of white men, in Mississippi. This crime carries several characteristics of hate crime, and supports the Social Dominance Theory. The first characteristic that this hate crime exhibited is that the haters took time to go look for an African American to victimize in an unfamiliar area. A group of white men, who disliked black people, went to a party in Puckett. There they discussed going to Mississippi capital to find African Americans to harass. The men went to Mississippi, and bullied unknown black men and women during the night. The white driver, Deryl Dedmon, drove over a black man named James Craig Anderson with his vehicle, killing him. Going to an unfamiliar area, which the white men did in this murder, is a characteristic of hate crime. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 8. The Importance Of Modern Human Progress Firstly we have to define modern human progress, which is defined as the theory that advances in technology, science, and social organization inevitably produce an improvement in the human condition. 1 This means that people become happier in terms of quality of life, economic development and lack of crime. It is the culmination of modern technology and freeing yourself from the shackles of society s previous social preconceptions. With that said the Catholic church harbours some questionable ethical beliefs; contraception, divorce, end of life care and their attitude to abortion. They believe that life begins at conception so undergoing an abortion is a grave moral sin. They argue that a zygote is not a potential person but a person with potential. The Catholic church is the world s largest religious group united under one leader (the Pope) so therefore it has tremendous influence over world politics. This means that when the pope says I declare that direct abortion, that is, abortion willed as an end or as a means, always constitutes a grave moral disorder, since it is the deliberate killing of an innocent human being 2 a lot of people believe his orders and deny innocent women their right to choose.3 Mother Teresa was also a staunch opponent of abortion saying that If a mother can kill her own child, what is left but for us to kill each other. 4 She has a tremendous amount of leverage in this matter. It can be argued that abortion is good for society as a whole as Steven Levitt found a strong link between legalised abortion and the fall in crime rates in the late 1990s. This is because abortion was legalised in 1973 in the USA and crime rates fell sharply 20 years later. This is down to the fact that children more likely to cause trouble (from teenage, single parent households) simply weren t being born as women in this group were having abortions instead.5 An abortion is a women s right as it benefits her mental well being as having an unwanted child puts an undebatable amount of strain on a woman. It also affects her financial well being, as a child can cost around $233,6106 which is a substantial amount of money for anyone. Especially for teenage mothers who are the most likely group of ... • 9. Lawrence Vs Texas Legal Individualism Legal Individualism is a legal interpretation that emphasizes liberty, self reliance and independence. Legal individualism means everyone is equal based on law system there is no external standard that we can convincingly propose and maintain the separation of equality and inequality and also every individual becomes the bearers of legitimate rights. The legal individualism expresses American culture because of in an individualistic society, the law preserves the idea that everyone can freely choose to interact with others in their own way whether for economic, artistic, religious or romantic purposes. Not everyone s choice will be fine. Not an individual is unreliable. Not that they can not abuse their freedom. All this is granted. But no one is to make others the reason for their master, but other people may be smart. Both the case Lawrence v. Texas, The Republic of Choices and Bellah s habits of heart mention that legal individualism is deeply in the America society nowadays. The case of Lawrence v. Texas involves two adults who fully and mutually agree to engage in sexual acts that are common to homosexual lifestyles. The state can not belittle their own survival or control their own destiny by proclaiming private sex as criminal acts. Many commentators interpret opinion as a liberal ethical approach that fundamentally broadens privacy and freedom of constitutional rights to cover all no victim crimes. Judge Scalia responded to the view that the exclusion of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Ferdinand, Isabella, One King Ferdinand And Isabella Frank Colletta Mr. Hoffman Global 1 R 12/09/17 One King, one Queen, otherwise known as Ferdinand and Isabella. Ferdinand and Isabella were cousins. Later on in 1469 they became husband and wife. Isabella became the quartermaster and financier (isabellaqueenofspain.wordpress.com), while Ferdinand was the leader of the army. Together they expanded and ruled the Spanish Empire. (spainthenandnow.com). Isabella was born on April 27, 1451. She was born in a city of Madrigal and raised Catholic. Her mother s name was also Isabella. Her mother was the Princess of Portugal. King John II, of Castile, was her father. Isabella never really knew her father as he died when she was only four years old. Isabella was well educated and from a very young age was taught she could achieve great things. When King John II died, he left the Kingdom of Castile to Isabella s step brother Henry. (Bucklin). Later when Isabella s brother died, she had to fight to become ruler of Castile against her Niece Juana who tried to take over the throne. Ferdinand would help her in the war to succeed her step brother and take over as ruler (Azcona). Isabella s cousin, also known as her husband, Ferdinand, was born in 1451. His father was King John II of Aragon and his mom was Juana Enríquez of Castile. They were both of Castilian origin. Unlike Isabella, he had a father figure and would succeed his father as King of Aragon. From his father he learned integrity, courage and reserve. Ferdinand was raised by his parents to become a king and a devout Catholic. (ferdinandandisabella.weebly.com) He became known as Ferdinand the Catholic (Azcona). In 1469 Ferdinand and Isabella were married. The marriage was really an arrangement for purposes of taking control of Spain. Their union would bring about accomplishments that would go down in history. The first main accomplishment was that they unified Spain. Their marriage unified the regions of Castile and Aragon. Before Ferdinand and Isabella took over, Spain was separated and confused. (ferdinandandisabella.weebly.com) The couple would share equal ruling power. Exceptions Under The Exclusionary Rule In criminal justice the exclusionary rule prohibits the use of illegally seized evidence or evidence that violates the offenders rights under the fourth, fifth, or sixth amendment. There are three exceptions under the exclusionary rule, fruit of the poisoned tree , inevitable discovery exception, and the good faith exception. These three exceptions each allow evidence that can be considered illegally obtained to be admissible in a court of law, given it fits in certain constraints. Fruit of the poisoned tree is a term for any verbal or physical evidence obtained by using illegally obtained evidence. The basis of the fruit of the poisoned tree concept is that like a poisoned tree would bear poisonous fruit, evidence that is obtained because of illegally obtained evidence is also therefore illegally obtained. This concept could be considered tier one under the exclusionary rule. The exclusionary rule and its counterparts were first applied in courts in 1914. The idea of the exclusionary rule is to maintain proper police procedure. If police officers present legally obtained evidence, they have a higher chance of getting the offender convicted. Blitzkrieg warfare would be the first form of modern military tactics for it fully utilizes the technological advancements of that time. The term Blitzkrieg was not invented by the Germans, but by an English magazine that described the invasion of Poland (Showalter). While many accredit the invention of Blitzkrieg warfare to Heinz Guderian, Germany s Chief of Mobile Troops during WWII, it was actually invented far before that. In fact, it was developed right after WWI after seeing the devastating effects of trench warfare(Showalter). Ironically, the basis of Blitzkrieg warfare was also laid by German Field Marshall Alfred von Schlieffen of the famous Schlieffen plan of WWI(Showalter). The basic essence of Blitzkrieg warfare was built upon the belief that Germany was always going to be out resourced and out numbered in every war and thus in order to win it, the Germans must strike hard and fast and penetrate deep behind enemy lines(Showalter). Thus, Blitzkrieg warfare was the most effective military tactic of its time because it utilized all of the technology of its time, it not only utilized physical warfare, but also psychological warfare, and because Germany s opponents were not prepared for this kind of warfare. Hester must force Agnes, by way of rank, to reveal that it is believed that the dead old lord , plays the organ (Gaskell 18). Miss Furnivall is first connected with the music, when Hester claims that she thought it was her playing the organ (Gaskell 18). Being that Miss Furnivall is deaf, and is therefore an unlikely musician, this insinuates that Miss Furnivall is connected to this problem. However similar to A Christmas Carol , the music is suggested to be derived from ghostly means, because the organ is found to be broken inside, therefore unable to be played normally (Gaskell 18). This thought is later underlined when the child, Rosamond, goes missing, and ghosts threaten the household, further emphasizing that a problem exists (Gaskell 20,24). Music is suggested many ways to cause her problems between Miss Furnivall and her sister, Miss Maude, rather than aid the sisters in a solution. Both sisters fell in love with the same man, a foreign musician, whom their father had down from London to play music (Gaskell 26). The sisters develop a rivalry over the foreigner (Gaskell 27). Though united against Republicans and their liberal Reconstruction policies, Texas Democrats in this period came from a variety of backgrounds and had unique motivations driving their political sentiments. In the article Of Rutabagas and Redeemers: Rethinking the Texas Constitution of 1876, Patrick Williams argues against the pervasive characterization of the key factions in the Democratic Party during the constitutional convention consisting of agrarian versus business minded or new South interests. Williams contends that although convention contemporaries including noted Rutabaga (a semi derogatory term for a delegate in league with the Grange) John Johnson came to believe that the constitution of 1876 represented the triumph of farmers and their allies against corporate driven progressive Democrats and their policies, the political reality was much more complicated. To begin his assessment of the factional politics surrounding the constitution of 1876 and the Redeemer convention that fashioned it, Williams points out that several historians who have discussed post Civil war southern politics including Michael Perman, J. Morgan Kousser, and Seth McKay do indeed ascribe to the paradigm of the rise of the agrarian rutabaga over the new South cosmopolitan businessman. And for no reason that pulse is quiet and all my affection for Sir Henry returns without qualification. (Pause.) But all that is of no interest to anyone but myself. Here we see Hugh s troubled mind. We see that he all of a sudden does not want to live up to his Great Irish name but instead live the way Sir Henry wanted him too. Friel s use of the dramatic (pause) shows how Hugh s mind is in constant battle. He is unaware what to do next. However it is because of his public duty that he realises this means nothing to anyone else but himself. Hugh realises he must continue in fighting against the English Rule and pushes his private feelings a side. In the opening scene of the play we see a very different Hugh O Neill to what the audience would previously have seen. Immediately we see him floating between romantic thoughts and business thoughts. He is distracted as he is thinking about the arrival of his new wife Mabel. Harry is trying to read letter s to him and tell him the current news but Hugh is inattentive as he places flowers around the room. In this scene Friel uses the dramatic technique of imagery and symbolism again. On the surface, the flowers are seen as props but they are used as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. The Importance Of Life In A Boarding School Boarding school compares to an exclusive club as there is a huge advantage of attending boarding school for students can garner social and cultural capital. Being in a boarding school, in of itself, is a privilege. However, the students themselves in Old School see privilege tied strictly to socioeconomic background. Nonetheless, students divide themselves between the disadvantaged and privileged, while others put on a facade to appear more wealthy. The book tells the story of an unnamed narrator, most likely Tobias Wolff himself, who attends a pretentious male boarding school during the 1960s. Therefore, the narrator, a competitive writer, competes with other boys alike to gain the attention of famous authors and poets like Ernest Hemingway and Robert Frost. While social pressures force students to worry with their social status, the narrator becomes fixated on writing stories that are utopian in nature so not to reveal his mundane and blue collared lifestyle. Privileged students from upper class backgrounds experience the utmost respect of the school and simultaneously never have to worry about an empty future. Specifically, Jeff Purcell is one of the characters in the novel who comes from a long line of privileged heritage and is proud, stubborn, and judgmental of every other student. In the opening of the novel, the narrator notes that class is a depth of ease in certain boys, their innate affable assurance that they would not have to struggle for a place in the world, ... • 39. Modern Revival Of The Cornett The cornetto is a wooden wind instrument widely used throughout Europe from the 15th through the 17th centuries. It s also called the cornett, which is not to be confused with the trumpet like instrument called the cornet. A hybrid between a woodwind (like the recorder) and a brass instrument (like the trumpet), it was a long and slender tube, curved to one side, and had open finger holes. Sound was produced by blowing into a cup shaped mouthpiece, like that of the trumpet. The combination of the mouthpiece and finger holes results in difficulties of intonation (pitch) and embouchure (mouth positions). Once mastered, it s extremely agile and has a range of dynamics and expressions that span between brassy trumpet sounds to incredibly sweet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the classification system of Hornbostel and Sachs, they are classified as trumpets with finger holes . They flourished mainly in the sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries, but began a decline in popularity from the second half of the seventeenth; from 1700 onwards their use fell off dramatically, even though in some parts of Europe they persisted until the early 1800s. Their modern revival dates only from the second half of the twentieth century; performers such as Otto Steinkopf in Germany and Christopher Monk in England were among the first to play cornetts in public in the 1950s. Whereas most renaissance and baroque instruments have direct descendants or analogues (for example, modern trombones and sackbuts, modern and baroque violins, etc.), this is not true for cornetts; no mainstream modern instrument combines a lip vibrated mouthpiece with woodwind style fingering, and this lack of any kind of continuous performing tradition necessitated a re invention of both their playing technique and usage. Cornetts are usually considered to be difficult to play well, but performance standards have improved dramatically over the last fifty years or so. If ever an instrument belonged to the lower strata of society, the cornett did. They were the poor white trash among musical instruments. Not only were they cheaply made, but they were noted for their poverty of musical qualities. Constructed of wood and covered with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. The Lessons Learned From Park Play Governments Are Overfunding Parks The lessons learned from park play are not comparable to what sidewalk play has to offer. Learning Responsibility on City Sidewalks by Jane Jacobs opens the reader s eyes on the benefits of simple street play. In her passage, Jane Jacobs compares the more beneficial effects of sidewalk play compared to the overpraised parks. Jacobs tells us that parks don t build a stronger form of morality and help with developing more knowledge on city life like sidewalk play do. Park children are given less of a chance to visually learn how to become well rounded citizens in society from adults around them. Parks are not as amazing as they re believed to be from the public. They do not offer the many chances to learn compared to what sidewalk interactions have to offer. Plus, the playgrounds do not have enough adults to actually watch over and teach children the good and the bad. Playgrounds are built for the concept of having fun, but they do not guide and raise children to be good citizens. I believe that government should not heavily fund parks because parks do not revere the essential teachings needed in society such as social abilities. I believe that instead of overfunding parks we could benefit more by having the government actually invest more in club sports because I think club teams open up more of an opportunity for people to develop their social skills, instead of playing in a park. Club sports are provided in many cities but each one I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. The Syrian Wars The Syrian Wars were one of the most devastating in the Hellenistic world; they changed the political and economic landscape of the region permanently in a way that hadn t happened since the conquests of Alexander. These wars brought about the end of the Pharaohs, they allowed Rome to come and seize Egypt and Syria, and Parthia to annex what was left of the Seleukid dynasty. The massive impact these wars had upon the Hellenic world cannot be understated. Egypt would never rise to its former glory. It would become another province of Rome, later to be held by the Byzantines, and then Fatimids, where it would not regain true independence until 1922, shaking itself from British colonial rule. It is a shame that these wars are not given the rigorous study that they deserve. This paper aims to explore the Syrian Wars in three ways. It will begin with discussing how the death of Alexander the Great and his inability to form a sustainable bureaucracy and a proper heir set the stage for his generals to fight each other for his empire. It will focus upon the actions of Ptolemy and his successors, and their role in the Syrian wars, and how Ptolemaic power declined as the wars raged on. It will conclude by explaining how the aftermath of these wars lead to the demise of Ptolemaic power, and their eventual absorption into Rome. Because of the length of the timeline that will be discussed here (this paper will attempt to describe 200 years of history in under 15 pages), a narrative ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Chickens took wing, dogs ran for their lives, women and children scurried out of sight, until the only living soul left in the market was Belisa Crepusculario. Because this quote from the story shows how everyone s scared of both the Colonel and El Mulato except for Belisa. The setting is important in this story cause the story is set in Spain back in the time when women had no rights and were only used to cook and clean. But Belisa contradicts society by putting a curse on El Mulato a mighty all powerful man who everyone is scared of except Belisa. When Belisa curses El Mulato the once all mighty man El Mulato is in the hands of a woman who defeated him. When reading this short story I think that we are suppose to feel surprised after reading the story from Belisa s accomplishments because Belisa went from being unpopular and poor to being the most widely known and the most powerful at the end of the story. The message in this story is aimed to the reader and it says that anyone can do anything they want if they put there mind to it, and if u have the determination you can accomplish a lot no matter what you are dealt with in life. • 51. My Experience Of My Vacation Before taking my last vacation, I was almost convinced that affordability and excitement could not exist in the same sentence in today s economy. After several failed attempts of planning for an inexpensive getaway, I decided to store the idea in the compartments of my mind. Nevertheless, the opportunity presented itself six months ago in the form of an invitation. That s right! I was finally going to get the mini vacation I was in search of, with all the bells and whistles in one package. The invitation was extended to me, through Dimples and Diamonds empowerment group for women, based out of Savannah, Georgia. Dimples and Diamonds had a weekend retreat planned for the last week in September 2017 at Sonesta Resort on Hilton Head Island. The island is located off the coastal region of South Carolina where it is known for it s rich Gullah Geechee culture and recreational areas. The Sonesta reminded me of a huge burrito with everything you wanted wrapped into one bite for our pleasure. The resort at Hilton Head offered an economical and comfortable stay; as well as a broad array of activities for a group or an individual of any age group. Sonesta presented a few packages for comfort and pleasure, that made planning a stay for the weekend like a cake walk. The prices ranged from $250 per night individually or $135 per night for groups. I chose the group package because I was traveling with a group of four. After taxes and security fees were applied, the total cost was $450 for a three day weekend. The customer service representative also informed me of additional discounts and rewards that could be used if we resided at the resort. That wasn t a bad deal after all since the security fees were credited back to your account after you checked out of the resort. The overall customer service experience was one that should go down in the books. If you are one that pride yourself in great customer service; like myself, you could not help but notice the small gestures of courtesy that the staff showed upon arrival and upon departure. The atmosphere was welcoming with exceptional greeters. The aroma from various restaurants and savory smells of the Gullah cuisine filled the air, accompanied by filtered water ...
