How Scientists Can Most Efficiently Complete Organ...
Abstract: The purpose of this experiment is to test how scientists can most efficiently complete
organ printing. In this lab, the cells will be suspended in a substrate called sodium alginate
collagen, hydrogel, and other reactants. These materials will react to then embed the cells to their
goal location. Then, the cells will be able to be fixated into layers. These layers will then come
together and form tissues, which according to biological organization will form organs. The inkjet
bioprinter allows for this to occur. Tiny inkdroplets form a digital design for the organ printing, and
in horizontal sheets, the organ is created tissue by tissue. This lab will test to see which percent
concentration of the sodium alginate collagen composite will prove to be most effective when
organ printing. The dependent factor that will determine the conclusion will be the percent of
efficiency of cell survival rate. Four trials will be completed in which the same organ is printed and
all factors are kept constant, except for the percent concentration of the substrate.
Introduction:
In the past, the only way to replace diminished cells, tissues, and organs was from organ
transplantation. An organ donor was needed, and the tissues would be surgically removed from the
donated body and placed into the recipient. Due to the current research being conducted, it is
believed that tissue engineering and organ printing can contribute to the process of improving and
saving lives.

Reflective Argument Paper
The four distinct learning objectives are as follows: First, students are required to be able to
adopt a rhetorical perspective in order to identify, analyze, and describe the various aspects within
one s own discourse community. How I will show this objective is by citing earlier identifications
of genre, conventions, and occasions for writingmade in my assignment two. Second, students must
produce writing that draws considerably on concepts from primary or secondary sources. For this
objective I cited my assignment two which includes primary sourcematerial and argues a
rationalization for change within a journal. Thirdly, students should show a flexible writing
process that adapts to the different writing situations and tasks. I cite again assignment two, where
I examined an article to argue a change over time. Lastly, the student s writing shows reflective
properties to makes choices and changes in their writing as well as how they might use those
same properties to approach a completely new writing task. For how I achieved this objective I
reference the group work I did which began with an interdisciplinary concept, then Shown within
this reflective argument is my method for reaching the four learning objectives of Wayne State s
English 3010 classes. I have incorporated assignment one, two, and some responses to support my
claimed ability.
Learning objective one requires students to accurately identify, describe, and analyze common

Difference Between Cultural Relativism And Absolutism
Cultures vary in behavior, habits, attitudes, beliefs, languages, etc. Absolutism is regarded by
everyone and is not limited by anything. Relativism is regarded by everyone in the same manner
such that it is not limited by people, situations, time, or location. There are distinct anthropological
facts that support both cultural relativism and absolutism with respect to moralprinciples.
Moral principles within cultural relativism do vary and any given culture believe theirs is the true
moral value. Three anthropological facts outlined by relativism are as follows.
1.In relation to customs, manners, taboos, religions, moralities, habits, and attitudes there is a large
deviation between cultures.
2.Moral beliefs and attitudes within any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Citizens of a given culture believe that the moralities that they uphold and live by are the only true
morals.
Problems that may arise from relativism may occur when a particular cultures tries to enforce their
beliefs, values or laws onto another society or culture and condemn that culture for not adhering to
their moral values and punishing by engaging in terroristic threats or warfare. Further, a tradition
may be considered right or wrong in one culture but the opposite in another, since there is no
superior authority we cannot say whether any given tradition is indeed right or wrong.
Moral principles within cultural absolutism do not vary and all cultures follow the same moral
values. Four anthropological facts outlined by absolutism are as follows.
1.Principles of what is right and wrong are consistent across all cultures, including but not limited to
preservation of human life, honesty, respect for elders, sexual conduct, taking responsibility for
personal actions.
2.The needs of citizens are similar across all cultures; consumption of food and clean water, shelter,
sexual management.
3.Relationships, habits, situations are similar in all cultures including opposite gender, preferences
dealing with religion, family, language, and performance

Ada s Metamorphosis to Independent Woman in Cold Mountain
As Ada arrives at Black Cove, she and her father are completely unprepared for a life of
independence. The ride there becomes the first of their problems. A new horse and cabriolet
were purchased for the trip, but that was their first mistake. The rain fell aslant, coming at their
faces so that the top of the carriage did little good in sheltering them from it (55). Monroe, Ada s
father, had no idea on how to get to Cold Mountain, and At each fork, Monroe simply guessed at
the route they ought to take (55). Ada s life in Charleston was one of aristocracy. She enjoyed
balls, parties, and suitors, none of which helped her in any way at Black Cove. Ruby comments that

Ada told Ruby that she envied her knowledge of how the world runs (137). Ruby also teaches Ada
about home remedies and new ways of doing things around the house.
Ada learns from Ruby about the nature of the world. You commence by trying to see what likes
what, Ruby said. Which Ada interpreted to mean, Observe and understand the workings of affinity
in nature (138). Slowly Ada learns how to run the farm and live off its offerings. She begins to
see things that she might not have noticed before. As a heron flies over her head she wonders if
the sighting is A blessing? A warning beacon? Picket of the spirit world

incident in her journal, drawing pictures of the bird and maybe other associated objects. She even
says to herself I am living a life now where I keep account of the doings of particular birds (239).
She is observing, and learning from, nature in its purest forms.
It is easily seen that Ada acquires something of an understanding of nature in its purest forms.
She is no longer afraid to do things that might seem unladylike . Ruby dangled her feet over the
edge of the hayloft. Ada had never known a grown woman to do that, but Ruby looked at her
with some amusement, as if to say, I can do this because I have never been proper, and you can do
it because you have recently quit being so (288). The way Ada draws and

Her Movie Relationships
Her is a movie about the story of a man, Theodore, who falls in love with his artificially intelligent
operating system, Samantha. The movie shows how a relationship began, grew and ended between
a man and an operating system. This type of relationship is rare, furthermore, there is no artificial
intelligence that is in the same stage of intelligence as Samantha. Nonetheless, the relationship
between the two raises questions as to how genuine and true the relationship is. Before beginning to
analyze the relationship between Theodore and Samantha, there are other real stories that could
help better understand the type of relationship Theodore and Samantha had.
Jack and Oskar were two twin brothers who were separated a little after birth due to their parent s
separation. Jack grew up with his Jewish father and his family while Oskar grew up with his mother
and her German family. Oskar attended a Nazi run school and later joined a Hitler youth, ... Show

Compare and Contrast the Attitudes and Values of the Two...
Compare and contrast the attitudes and values of the two speakers of the poems and how the poets
have used language to convey these between  To His Coy
Mistress” by Andrew Marvel and  My Last
Duchess” by Robert Browning Both the poems have the theme of love, written
from a man’s point of view, and explores the way men treat woman in
relationships. The former does this by a male narrator writing a poem to a female, using imagery
to entice her. The latter by using a duke, explaining the story of what happened to his previous
wife whilst looking at her picture. Both the poems use imagery and other poetic devices but in
different ways. The first uses them more often to impress her. The second uses them in a... Show

This shows he knows how to write a love poem and he again he has all the right techniques for
persuading a person. The second poem does also use imagery, however in a different way and for
a different purpose. The narrator is describing the duchess to the emissary â€Å
That’s my last duchess painted on the wall”. This
shows he is only describing the painting but as he is using the imagery he describes what she
was like and how she made him angry. However as he describes her it makes her seem like she is
just an object, which she was to him. This is his view of woman, that they belong to a man
which was very common belief at that time. From the poetic devices used their attitudes are
different because in the first he shows his sensitive side and tries to put a bit of romance into it.
However the imagery in the second goes against him as he believes that she was his object and
belonged to him. In both poems there is the recurrent theme of irony. In  To His
Coy Mistress” the poem’s entire first section is ironic
in the sense that the speaker knows he isn’t being genuine. The speaker
uses words to his advantage and we can take little of what he says to be truthful. In Line 1,
Had we but world enough, and time”. The first section of
the poem is a series of hyperbolic statements meant to impress and flatter the reader but the

friendly manner. Priceline s revenue is a result of the difference between the Name Your Own Price
rate and the amount charged by the supplier for the service. Priceline also brings in revenues from
a more traditional travel agency model also available on its website. The oversaturation of the travel
industry has created never ending competition for Priceline. However, with the increase of
competition comes and increase of the amount of individuals willing to purchase products and

Conflict Resolution And Conflict Resolution
The ability to work well with other people within a work environment is fundamental to
productivity and effectiveness in patient care (Marquis Huston, 2015). However, within active
environments where interactions take place among many people all the time, there is a greater
chance of conflict. Marquis and Huston (2015) mention that within a work environment there often
is a variety of different values, beliefs, backgrounds, and goals coming from each individual. This
leads to the expected outcome that there will be conflict. Within my professional practice regarding
leadership, I want to apply conflict resolution.
Conflict to me is something that I would like to avoid all together. Working at a senior living, I am
the nurse manager, meaning I am in charge of the Certified Nurse Aids (CNAs). When going to
work there are many tasks that I must complete during my shift and the last thing I want to add to
it would be a conflict between the CNAs. Unfortunately, this happens more often than not. The
types of conflicts vary including, intergroup, intrapersonal, and interpersonal conflicts. The most
common type is interpersonal conflict which is a conflict between two or more people with
differing values, goal, and beliefs (Marquis Huston, 2015). There has been hostility and arguing
on the floor, and this cannot be tolerated or avoided. Regrettably, I have avoided a conflict and the
work flow of the night was disrupted. However, I have had a positive experience as

Chin The Largest Economy
At present, China is the largest economy in the world, overtaking the US in January 2015. It is
also the world s second largest oil consumer behind the US (Chen 2015) and the world s largest net
importer of crude oil (Dunn 2014). Its net importer status was driven by steady economic growth,
with rapidly rising Chinese petroleumdemand outpacing production growth (EIA 2014). China is
also the fourth largest oil producing country in the world (Refer to Appendix ___).
The growth in the developing nation s economy over the past 3 decades was heavily dependent on
its low cost advantage compared to those of other countries. During this period of growth, foreign
companies flocked to China to set up production facilities and factories to capitalize on this cost
advantage. Raw materials are shipped to China, where factory workers build the final products and
export them out to various countries (Wassener 2014).
However, recently, china s economy has experienced a significant slowdown due to the shift in
growth of the nation to rely more on private enterprise and domestic consumption. This shift in
economy reduces its demand for industrial raw materials for manufacturing, which translates to a
decrease in demand of oil for use in production plants. A survey of China s industrial heartland
identified decreases in key areas of new orders, export orders and output prices (Letts 2015).
Furthermore, being the world s second largest consumer of oil, this move that China makes will

Why the Fries Taste so Good
Rhetorical Analysis
In the excerpt Why the Fries Taste So Good by Eric Schlosser, Schlosser deeply examines the
process of one individual farmer and his process, not to mention takes it as far as going to the
International Fragrance and Flavor facilities to see what truly does make the fries taste so good. He
does a good job of hitting each individual appeal as a writer in order for us as readers to accept the
information he s handing out. Even in Ian Brailsford s review of Schlosser s excerpt, he finds little
if any opposition whatsoever. At one point he even says, By focusing on Ray Kroc s empire

Then he moves onto the second step where he shares the competition factor of the industry and
how improbable it is today to be a successful potato farmer unless you re one of the big time
producers and that typical farmers today are going through such hardships just to stay alive and
produce (Schlosser 2.) Then, he examines the third and final tier of the information and that s
wrapping it all up into why the french fries really do taste so good. And he does that by
establishing himself as a credible, firsthand source of information by placing himself in the
facilities of the IFF and seeing up close and personal what the lab professors do to the product to
make it the way it is. He even provides a physical description of how to get to one of the plants
and what it looks like almost to reinforce the fact that he was there and received all of this
information up close and personal (Schlosser 3.)
Schlosser really examined the depths of the french fry industry to a T and provided readers with
just about all the information they wanted, if not more. He did it in a variety of ways, by
intertwining the logical ingredient components and financial state of what it takes to be a
financial farmer, as well as the pathetic appeal of introducing readers to a rags to riches story of a
poor farm boy making it big by holding onto a small dream

Examples Of Injustice In Beloved
After reading in depth, slavery, freedom, love and injustice are the major motifs that Morrison
uses in order to create the story. Beloved embodies the disremembering of the actions towards
black people that took place in the United States. The primary analysis where the protagonist,
Sethe, has killed her own child might sound like she is an insane heartless mother who murdered
her own daughter. As a result, we believe the ghost of the child haunts her throughout the novel.
The simplistic observation is to adjudicate that this act was wrong. However, we have to
acknowledge all the different factors that contribute to Sethe s violent act. Her violent past at Sweet
Home is something she doesn t want her child to experience. Growing up in an... Show more

For this reason, the act of murder is portrayed as a means of protection. Sethe will be forever
haunted by the events and memories that slavery has done to her, as well as the haunted spirit of
her daughter. As the novel continues, we can see how the influential forces can affect a person. The
consequences of injustice, the parameters of the maternal instinct and the question of whether or
not ethics can even exist in a corrupted moral system shows how the complicated nature of things
affects the human experience. By gathering information through each character s involvement with
slavery, we can understand where they are coming from and the deeper meaning of the story.
Morrison intentionally wrote the story with such ambiguity with the intent to make the readers
think. There is also some ambiguity regarding Paul D and his chain gang. It is written that they
have escaped in unison from where they were held. Even though Morrison explains the scene in
detail, it is hard to believe at first how they have escaped collectively. After having reread Paul D
and the chain gang s passage a few times, it is understood that it wasn t all about the physical
aspect of escape but the mental strength they had as one to achieve the escape of

Theory Analysis on Haydn s Piano Sonata in Bb Major
Haydn Piano Sonata in Bb Major
Haydn s Piano Sonata in Bb major has three clearly defined sections: the exposition, the
development, and the recapitulation. In the exposition, the thematic statement from measure 1
through 10 is more or less the introduction followed by a theme in parallel period from measures
11 to beat two of 22. Up to this point we are in the key of Bb major, ending on a half cadence.
Though it stays in this key, E is tonicized with a five of four in measures 11 and 16. Next is what
I consider a bridge section in F major, connecting the themes in Bb to the themes in F. The reason I
see it as a bridge phrase is for three reasons: ascending patterns, the augmented sixth chords to five,
and the E natural in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As far as ascending and descending lines go, a lot of them are the same from the exposition, but
they are just in different keys, such as 73 through 76, and 79 through the down beat of 84. The
first is ascending in the key of F major as opposed to the key of Bb major in the introduction, and
the second is descending in the key of C major as opposed to measures 31 through 35 in F major.
This leads us to the third and final section of the sonata: the recapitulation. It begins in measure
102 and goes to the end of the piece in measure 148. The entire recapitulation is in the key of Bb
major, but includes several thematic statements from both the exposition and the development.
It begins with the same exact introduction from the exposition; same theme, same key (Bb).
Then, it gets thrown off at 108, when it doesn t quite follow the introduction. Basically, measures
7 through 10 are deleted from the re statement, and instead takes us to the equivalency of the
bridge section, but in Bb instead of F. That part is very crucial I feel, because when it was in F, its
purpose was to sound like it needed to go on, whereas in Bb, it sounds like we re coming to a close
by returning to the original key. So in conclusion, from 110 to the end, it is exactly the same as
the second part of the exposition, except instead of being in F, it is in Bb. If I may say so, this

`` Fun Home, By Alison Bechdel
Part graphic memoir and part psychoanalytical study, Alison Bechdel s, Fun Home, is a charming
story about a girl s search for identity within an unconventional family. The novel style
autobiography frames Alison s childhood and adolescence as she struggles with themes of sexual
confusion, gender identity, and convoluted family dynamics. These ideas are explored through the
examination of Alison s relationship with her father, and their shared passion for literature.
Early on in her childhood, Alison came to the realization that her family was different. As
individuals, and as a unit, they were just plain weird. Unlike most young girls, Alison lacked a
strong bond with her parents, most notably her father, Bruce. Because they both display introverted
personalities and had divergent gender identities, Alison and her father never devised a solid
relationship. Bruce is described as possessing generally feminine qualities having passion for fine
art and sophisticated interior design; whereas Alison claims to have become a connoisseur of
masculinity at a young age (95). Neither of them fit their stereotypical role within the family;
Bruce didn t act like a macho man dad, and Alison wasn t playing dress up with all the other little

Racism In Octavia Butler s Parable Of The Sower
The novel Parable of the Sower was published in 1993 by the black female author Octavia Butler.
Butler was 46 when her novel was published, subjecting her to racism her entire life
(Biography.com). She has created a dystopian world predicting life from 2024 and on. This
dystopian world has everything to do with raceand how these different races live among one
another. The novel illustrates how difficult it is to live and even travel with other races, and how
them doing so puts them at a higher risk of being attacked. Race is included in this novel because
racism was a problem in the past, and is still a problem today. The characters in this novel are put
at higher risks due to the fact that they travel in mixed groups.

Butler has specifically chosen the characters in the book and their ethnicities, due to what was
happening in the real world around her. She created this dystopian world predicting what the
world would be like twenty years later knowing that racism would still be a problem. She was
right. There has been a rise in racism over the last couple years, and I have noticed especially
when Donald Trump became president, that racism has gotten completely out of hand. Every
race are given stereotypes that are hurtful and not true, but some people still label an entire race
off of something that one person might have done. An example of these stereotypes would be
saying all muslims are terrorists, when we know that s not the case. Racism has gotten so bad
that black lives matter has become a huge movement. Pew Research Center had conducted a
survey and the results are as followed. 59% of Americans say racism is a big problem in our
society, while 29% say it is somewhat of a problem and 12% say racism in the U.S. is a small
problem or not a problem (Neal). This survey included 1,893 adults. That s about 776 adults out
of 1,893 that think that racism is kind of a problem, and or not really a problem at all. That s a
ridiculously high amount of people that think that racism is not really a problem. That 41% are
the people that are racist, or have no problem with racist people treating others the way that they
do. Racism has been a problem since before the 1600s and is still a problem in today s society.
Butler had predicted in the 1990s that racism would still be around even in 2024 through the
dystopian world in her

Psychological And Psychological Effects Of Advertising And...
Do you ever look around and notice a particular fashion style of those around you? Perhaps, you
ve noticed someone driving an expensive car and wonder to yourself what makes it worth all of
the money spent on it. We live in a consumer driven society in America today where everything
from the outfit you choose to wear to the car you drive is influenced by advertisement. Just how
much does it dictate our perception of life? I will be analyzing the staggering psychological and
societal effects that advertisers have over our culture today. I will be looking at advertisings origins
and showing how it developed to become one of the main contributors to what is considered to be
normal and desirable in American culture today. Advertisers have successfully employed methods
of psychologyto shape the minds of their consumers and construct a world that fattens their pocket
books while leaving the average consumer dumbfounded to the advertisement s effects. My goal is
to educate the consumer about these methods thereby empowering them to see past the façade
and decide for themselves what they need and want from the world.
History of Advertising
To truly understand the present the way advertising negatively affects American society, one must
look at its past. For as long as there has been money, there has been competition to obtain it.
Different methods have been employed in attempts to turn the consumer s attention towards a
product in hopes of getting some of this ever coveted money.

Can One Be Considered A Villain

Can one be a hero and not a hero at the same time? One act alone cannot make someone a hero.
They could have been forced against their wil. It mostly depends on the person s history such as if
they did a bad deed multiple times or if they did it just once. A herois someone that does an act
that either saves a life or does it for the greater good. Anyone could do anything helpful and can
be called a hero. Majority of the time, there is a hero and there is always a villain, someone who
does something to ruin the hero s plan. Most likely the hero succeeds and the villain fails. A hero

This is a risk that can be understood and managed with proper thought and investment. Political
risks are the complications businesses and governments may face as a result of political
decisions or any political change that changes the expected outcome and value of a given
economic action by changing the probability of achieving business objectives. Political risk
faced by firms can be defined as the risk of a strategic, financial, or personnel loss for a firm
because of such nonmarket factors as macroeconomic and social policies (fiscal, monetary, trade,
investment, industrial, income, labour, and developmental), or events related to political
instability (terrorism, riots, coups, civil war, and insurrection). For a business, the implication for
political risk is that there is a measure of likelihood that political events may complicate its pursuit
of earnings through direct impacts (such as taxes or fees) or indirect impacts (such as opportunity
cost forgone). As a result, political risk is similar to an expected value such that the likelihood of a
political event occurring may reduce the desirability of that investment by reducing its anticipated
returns. There are both macro and micro level political risks. Macro level political risk looks at non
project specific risks. Types of risk include government currency actions, regulatory changes,

The Creative Industries Of Kanye West
Success in todays day and age is often achieved through the capitalization of creativity. When
mixing creativity with commerce, the outcome usually tends to be a lot of money. The Creative
Industries is a frankly new industry that many different people are greatly profiting from. Although
the creative industries may sound very fun and easy, like everything in life, they too face many
different challenges. Profiting off creativity can prove quite challenging for different players
involved. Kanye Westis a very famous figure within the creative industries. He plays a major role
within the music as well as fashion industry. Kanye West is often times inhibited from capitalizing
off of his creativity due to his controversial behaviour and forms of expression. Kanye West s most
famous controversy first started in 2009 at the annual MTV Video Music Awards
(the VMAs).
Taylor Swifthad just received the award for Best Female Video, and while she was accepting her
award, West interrupted claiming that Beyonce Knowles deserved the award. This resulted in a
lot of controversy and backlash towards West including slurs, threats of violence and even threats
of lynching. Kanye West justified his actions in terms of the racial politics present in awards
shows, the music industry, and the mass media more generally (Cullen). Within a week however,
West was featured in an interview with Jay Leno and publicly apologized for his actions towards

Much of my visit was spent with Michelle, Christopher and Ojay the three children of Nopracio

1.0 INTRODUCTION
This report assesses two available locations for the new house construction of Rylai Enterprises

best for the new house construction. The strategic and the features at both locations are the reason
I chosen both of them. However, I recommend we choose Taman Tas as our site for Rylai House

1.1 Background
Rylai Enterprises is a well known company and has the consistent performance in international
level. So, this is the huge opportunity for the company to run their business well by constructing
single storey terraced house. By the feedback we received, there are some UMP students people
nearby requesting a new house lot for their staying. Moreover, people who are working at UMP

them. As you know, house nowadays is so difficult to get because of the land available decrease
year by year, yet the landlord of both locations is willing to sell the land at low price and I m sure
Rylai Company can afford any one of them. We are planning to construct affordable house for the
fresh graduate students and for the adults these days. The house type is single storey terraced house
with a newest design by the architect Mr Tan Kai Jun. According to Mr Tan, every single house is

For equity, we use the short term treasury bills rate of 3.54% and for debt, we use the spread
between S P 500 composite returns and short term US Treasury bill returns of 6.77% (in exhibit

assets related to the restaurant division had shorter useful lives and their debt was short term.
We calculated the return on equity and debt as 15.62% and 10.52% respectively (see appendix

being 11.98%. (see appendix 1.7) Calculating Marriott s Contract Services Division WACC: The

Financial Crises And The Economic Crisis
Introduction
Financial crises are fundamentally, periods of economic turmoil. This essay is an analysis of the
underlying economic scenario in three specific financial crises that have occurred, since the Wall
Street crash of 1929. It goes on to explain its impact on global trade and the lessons that G20
governments can learn from them.
Synopsis of the problem
The focus of this essay is the Global financial recession of 2008 (also termed as the Great Crash),
Mexican crises of 1994 ( famously called the Tequila crises) and the Asian crises of 1997. It s an
attempt to understand and analyse the different impacts that the financial crises have had on
international trade.
The Great Crash of 2008 was caused by a bubble burst of sub prime mortgages in America, which
resulted in a crash of the US housing market. This domestic economic crisis quickly transformed
into a global recession and spread economic devastation worldwide. During this period world trade
and foreign manufacturing bore the steepest fall since the Great Depression.
During the Mexican crises (1994) despite increases in interest rates and fall in foreign investments
the government tried to support the peso with dollar reserves. However, due to excessive depletion
of the dollar reserve, the peso was devalued which caused a major bank run resulting in a financial
crises.
The Asian crises of 1997 were triggered by Thailand as they gave up the fixed exchange rate
regime, leading to a major currency crisis. The

article, The New World of Business Analytics, business analytics can be defined as the broad use
of data and quantitative analysis for decision making within organizations (4). The use of this type
of research is developing new insights and understanding of the performance of a business.
Through the increase in data analysis, companies are able to make decisions based on the

Research And Development Cost Analysis
Today, companies are increasing their spending on research and development more than ever
before. Research and development costs are the costs that a company incurs to either improve its
existing products and processes, or develop entirely new endeavors. Thus, as research and
development costs are now inevitable for businesses in order to beat out competitors, it is important
to understand the accounting treatment for these costs under the guidance of both GAAP and IFRS.
Both research and development costs are expensed as incurred under GAAP; however, there is
further guidance regarding the accounting treatment of software development that allows for
possible capitalization of related development costs. A report issued by PWC states that,... Show

18). Once these criteria are met, development costs can then be capitalized and amortized over a
period of time and as a result, would show the recognition of the continuous benefit from the
development costs that contributed to the asset.
An important point for companies that are following IFRS guidelines here is to differentiate
between costs that are related to research activities and those related to development activities, since
they require different treatments. According to KPMG, the definition of what constitutes research
costs versus development costs is very similar between IFRS and GAAP; however, neither provides
a clear definition that easily differentiates the two categories (IFRS, 2017). Because of the different
accounting treatment required, it is imperative that a company develops processes and controls that
allow the distinction to be made based on the nature of different activities. This ensures the most
accurate representation of research and development costs presented in the financial statements of
an entity.
The previously discussed guidance is pertaining to intangible assets that were developed by the
entity itself; there is separate guidance regarding research and development costs related to
intangible assets obtained through the acquisition of another company. Under GAAP, capitalization
depends on both the type of acquisition,

Gender Identity Disorder, Identity, And The Basis For A...
Transsexuality has been variously constructed throughout the latter part of the twentieth century as
a psychiatric disorder, identity category, and the basis for a political movement. Throughout history
transsexualism was discursively constituted through each of these frameworks of reference, in
which different psycho medical assertions were employed to conceptualize trans identities. Today
transsexuality, also known as genderidentity disorder (GID), represents a term that is medically
used to categorize and diagnose individuals who show a strong and persistent cross gender
identification and discomfort with their anatomical sex. For example, an individual that believes
that his and or her assigned sex at birth conflicts with their psychological gender, and is likewise
preoccupied with getting rid of their sex characteristics is an individual who suffers from GID. In
response to the medicalization of transsexualism, much of society s current legal and social
understanding of trans persons has become rooted in the ongoing medico scientific discourse.
Moreover, modern day transsexualism has been historically and socio medically constructed
through the growing demand for self expression and transformation, which correspondingly
challenges the sex and gender regime of the West.
The term transsexual first appeared in the scientific literature work of Magnus Hirschfled in 1923.

Cataract Surgery

A cataract is defined as an opacity of the lens of the eye that causes partial or total blindness. The
word is derived from the Latin cataracta , which means waterfall. To the eye of an observer, the

Business Swot Analysis Examples
The basic assumption of a SWOT analysis is that a company must align internal activities with

Taken from (G. Houben, 1999), they say a business before it starts with strategic management

They need to see what they can utilise to make the factors good for the business and eliminate the

This essay examines the trajectory of India s fiscal policy with particular focus on historical
trends, the development of fiscal discipline frameworks, the recent experience of fiscal response
to the global financial crisis and subsequent return to a fiscal consolidation path. The initial years
of India s planned development strategy were characterized by a conservative fiscal policy
whereby deficits were kept under control. The tax system was geared to transfer resources from
the private sector to fund the large public sector driven industrialization process and also cover
social welfare schemes. Indirect taxes were a larger source of revenue than direct taxes.
However, growth was anemic and the system was prone to inefficiencies. In the 1980s some
attempts were made to reform particular sectors and make some changes in the tax system. But
the public debt increased, as did the fiscal deficit. Triggered by higher oil prices and political
uncertainties, the balance of payments crisis of 1991 led to economic liberalization. The reform of
the tax system commenced with direct taxes increasing their share in
Comparison to indirect taxes. The fiscal deficit was brought under control. When the deficit and
debt situation again threatened to go out of control in the early 2000s, fiscal discipline legalizations

Why did People Collaborate with the Nazis? Dating back to approximately seventy years ago, the
Nazi party tried to create an alliance to help them dominate Europe. They made a promise that

the Soviets intended to annex it to the Soviet Unionpermanently, confiscated the wealth of

Some Slovaks were collaborating with the Nazis because they believed that the Nazis had given
them independence, and the independence would be retained if the Nazis win the war. In other

situation to what was going on in Slovakia. Ukraine had been ruled by foreigners for many
centuries. Ukrainians resented the Soviets much more than they resented the Germans because the
Soviets intended to annex to the Soviet Union permanently, confiscated the wealth of capitalist,

Changes In Juvenile Crimes
In 2012 a ten year old boy in Southern California murdered his friend with a kitchen knife by
repeatedly stabbing the friend in the chest. The suspect was said to have anger issues and a mental

Juvenile Court and later sentenced to juvenile rehabilitation. Depending on the crimeand age of a
defendant, the Juvenile Justice System decides whether or not to put the case in the hands of the
Juvenile Court and try them as children. Due to the defendant s unusual young age he was tried as a

How Did The Vietnam War Influence The French Indochina War
Derek Schmidt
College English
Opinion Based Research Essay
The French Indochina War Starting in late 1946, a rebellion began in French Indochina. The
French colony, only recently liberated from Japanese occupation, was eager to assert its
independence from France. However, the French, wishing to retain their colonial empire, had no
wish to let this happen. Backed by the United States who was afraid of the spread of communism in
the area, France fought a brutal war to maintain its position of power over Indochina. Ultimately,
just like the Vietnam War that succeeded it, the French IndochinaWar was a waste of time, money,
and manpower.
French Indochina was a colony of France consisting of the modern day countries of Vietnam, Laos,
and Cambodia. The colony was created after the French occupied several important cities and the
Vietnamese were forced to sign treaties acknowledging the authority of the French over Vietnam.
After gradually establishing suzerainty over Indochina between 1858 and 1893, the French created
the first Indochinese Union to govern it (Indochina). French influence was strongest in the urban
centers, while it had little impact on the far more populous rural areas. French Indochina came
under the occupation of the Japanese during World War II, and the Japanese collaborated closely
with the French colonial administrators and BбєЈo ДђбєЎi, the Emperor of Vietnam and a French
puppet ruler. Once the war ended and Japan surrendered, French troops reoccupied

Vietnam War Swot Analysis
Introduction As the war between North and South Vietnam continued, countless lives were lost and
doubt grew among the American population, it was concluded that something must be done to
prevent further loss to the United States (US). Vietnam had become a stalemate and it was obvious
that it was time for the US to end its involvement in the action. The time came for a major operation
that would demonstrate the Army of the Republic of Vietnams (ARVN) potential to defend their
nation without the aid of the US forces and advisors. They needed an operation that would boost the
morale of the South Vietnamese troops, and one that would ultimately give the US fighting forces
the opportunity to leave Vietnam. It was called Lam Son 719.... Show more content on

Vincent Van Gogh And Pablo Picasso
It is theorized that every person has a different perception of color. For example, if two people
are asked to look at an apple and say what color it is, they will both say it is red. The theory then
speculates what red looks like to one person may not be the same as what red looks like to
another person. Moreover, if the first person had the opportunity to look at the apple with the
eyes and brain of the second and compare that vision to the vision of the apple with their own
eyes and brain, the apple will appear to be two different colors. The first person s version of red
may look like blue like the blue of another person s vision. It is possible that one person s range
of color is completely different from someone else s. If one could see the world through someone
else s eyes, they would have an entirely new perspective. Art is unique and beautiful because it
gives people a chance to view the world through a different set of eyes. Both Vincent van Goghand
Pablo Picassoare known for their rare perceptions of the universe and the impact of their art on
the world, but even they had similarities and differences in their lives and their perspectives. Both
Vincent van Gogh and Pablo Picasso are known for their self portraits. Van Gogh painted over 30
portraits of himself within three years; he could not afford to pay models, so he purchased a mirror
suitable for the creating self portraits. He used introspective methods while creating his self
portraits to

World Wrestling History
So the history of world wrestling goes back a long time. It was the first sport to ever be created.
The first real traces of the development of wrestling date back to the times of the Sumerians,
over 5,000 years ago. There are also many historical and archaeological traces of wrestling in
Ancient Egypt. Drawings were discovered in Ancient Egypt in the tombs of Beni Hassan
representing 400 couples of wrestlers. These drawings witness the existence of corporations of
wrestlers in Ancient Egypt, wrestling rules, and refereeing codes (United World Wrestling). For the
Greeks, wrestling was a science and a divine art , and it represented the most important training for
young men. Athletes wrestled naked, with their bodies coated in olive oil and... Show more content

At the end of the 19th century, professional wrestling was the most popular sport in Europe.
Competitions helped to make wrestling more popular, the physical aspect of wrestlers served as a
model to young men and the training system allowed ameteur wrestling clubs to rapidly become
more structured. In 1904 freestyle wrestling was introduced during the St.Louis Games and was
only practiced by American Wrestlers. It was only during the fourth olympic Games held in
London in 1908 that competitions were organized for both styles. Wrestling matches took place on
three mats that were placed outside. A regular match lasted 1 hour, but finalists wrestled without a
time limit. After this Olympic Games, Wrestling started to develope in every country Worldwide.
Northern Europe countries maintained Greco Roman wrestling, where freestyle wrestling was
largely dominated by the English and the Americans. In Amsterdam, in 1928, the first African
wrestler won the Olympic title. In 1952 the first Asian wrestler won the Olympic title in Helsinki.
Female Wrestling was finally introduced to the Olympics in 2004 during the Athens Games. So

An Open Mind As The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is another Comforter, Teacher, and Reminder. Before Christ went back to Heaven
He said that He would not leave us without another Comforter, of which is the Holy Ghost. God
the Holy Spirit, God the Father, and God the Son are a Trinity, in Heaven and on this earth. The
Comforter indwells us and we are in God and in Jesus. We are in the Trinity. Talk about eternal
security, how much more can one be secure than this?
Being the Holy Spirit is our Teacher, and the Word of God says He is, then that which is preached
should not be readily accepted. One should not build a doctrine on one or two verses of Scripture
but should study all verses on the subject with an open mind as the Holy Ghost teaches (II Timothy
2:15),. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Judgment will be revealed by the Holy Spirit because the prince (ruler) of the world is judged,
which is by the power of Christ who judged the old Devil and his kingdom, defeating Satan at the
cross. The Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth and is most reliable. He is God in the office of
the Holy Spirit. He listens, hears, and will communicate and speak to the believer, showing future
things, glorifying Christ, and will show you the things of the Father. See John 16:7 15.
Much conjecture is found concerning John 20:22. The way I view this verse tells that Jesus
breathed on, not in, the disciples, and said Receive ye the Holy Ghost: receiving the Holy Ghost
that gave commandments unto them (Acts 1:2). They received the Holy Ghost outwardly as those
in the Old Testament did and for particular services till Pentecost, and there dwelt within. In Acts
1:5 they were waiting for a different baptism than that of John s which they had already received.
They were to be baptized by the Holy Ghost who would dwell both with them and be in them (John
14:17), and receive the power to equip them to preach the gospel to all nations throughout the world
(Acts 1:8). When Pentecost had fully come they received that recorded in Acts chapter two.

Clinical Laboratory And Nursing Laboratory
Clinical laboratory, what comes to your mind when you hear that word? Do you think of one
department such as Phlebotomy or many departments? After reading this paper you will have a
better understanding about the departments of the clinical laboratory and what exactly a clinical
laboratory is. There is more than just Phlebotomy when it comes to the clinical laboratory. I ll be
explaining what a clinical laboratory is and seven departments of the clinical laboratory. First,
what is a clinical laboratory? A clinical laboratory is a laboratory with several departments that
perform test to help provide better information to the patient to provide them with a diagnosis, a
treatment or even to prevent disease. So who oversee these labs? One of the monitoring agencies
is American society of clinical laboratory science. They assure reliable test results which contribute
to the prevention, diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of physiological and pathological conditions.
In 1988 The Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act of 1988 was inputted. (CLIA 88) This act has
divided the clinical laboratory testing in to waved, moderately complex, and highly complex
categories . Waved testing is a simple and accurate test. Some examples would be pregnancy test,
bloodglucose test, and also the urine dipstick test. Moderately complex testing is manual procedures
with minimal steps and minimal preparation. Highly complex testing is including all laboratory
testing. There are many positions in

The purpose of the Reagan Doctrine was to sponsor anticommunist guerrillas who are trying to
overthrow pro Soviet regimes (Roskin, 2010). It was implemented in the mid 1980 s by President
Reagan within his 1985 State of the Union Address and lasted less than a decade around the end of
the Cold Warin 1991. In this assignment, I will discuss the doctrine that President Reagan followed

Similar to other countries President Reagan was helping fight the Soviets by providing the
guerrillas with an extensive amount of military assistance in their fight against the invading
Soviets. In part due to the financial, weapons and military training support from America the
Afghan rebels were able to eventually defeat the Soviet Union s military. Some critics are criticizing
President Reagans doctrine and claim that in no way did it help the situation in Afghanistan, many
of them claim that it was an epic failure. Others believe the doctrine was instrumental in helping
bring an end to communism. One specific advantage that has been credited to the doctrine was the
lack of direct involvement of American troops, which allowed the United States to confront Soviet
allies without sustaining casualties (Reagan Doctrine, 2014). In addition it has been argued that it
was President Reagan s pursuit of the Strategic Defense Initiative that bankrupted the Kremlin
leadership, prompting a liberalization of the Soviet political economy that brought down the entire

This technique assist in the decision making process because once the internal rate of return is
determined, the desired investment can easily be decided. Taking the cash outflow and inflow from
each alternative and the desired rate of return will offer the best comparison as which investment
will present a return favorable.
Recommendation
The recommendation Mr. Navallez should take is alternative 1. Alternative 1 offers the best return
on investment. The use of the net present value techniques presents the desired return on
investment. Net present value over internal rate of return presents the expected return on cash
outflows for the cost of the investment, thus allowing management to compute a present value
index. (Edmonds, Edmonds, Olds, McNair, Schnieder, p.1160) Assume the desired rate of return
is 8% over 10 periods, alternative 1 cash inflow would be $421,834 with cash outflow being
$323,091 and alternative 2 cash inflow of $314,057 with cash outflow being $283,930. The present
value of alternative 1 is $98,743 and alternative 2 is $30,127. Alternative 1 yields a higher rate of
return, however, taking it a step further to confirm alternative 1 is the best investment the present
value index offers an additional comparison of the two investments.

Summary Of Three Sovereigns For Sarah
The movie Three Sovereigns for Sarah is about a terrified town that is struck by the devils
witchcraft and takes extraordinarily inhuman actions to rid themselves of the bad fortune. The
story is told by an old woman who was accused of being a witch, but luckily lives long enough to
confront her accusers. Three Sovereigns for Sarah has many contributing factors as to why
witchcraftwas believed and used as a genuine reason to murder citizens of the thirteen colonies
such factors that lead to these absurd and ridiculous decisions and actions are likely to be based
off the early sexist concepts of gender roles that took place in the colonies, the strong pull to
uniform religious beliefs, and a superstition that terrified people into an... Show more content on

The religious beliefs of these days and ages were extremely strict, controlling, and very similar.
The priest in this movie was very influential, he was the sole reason for the belief in the
witchcraft that took over this town. Few males in charge made the decision to hang the Salem
witches, but essentially the priest made the overall decision. He fed stories to the other females
and males about their witchcraft and how the devils work had been done. It is believed that the
priest did this so he could control the land and money that was possessed by the women he
wrongfully accused and murdered. The early Colonists practiced Puritan religion. This religion
consisted of believing that God had formed an agreement with the Colonists. They claimed that
they were higher than all others and God made that known to them. They claimed that God wanted
them to set a better example for all the British people who were going to be damned to hell for all
the sins and filth they had done. This prompted the Colonists to live a very disciplined,
unsatisfactory, and dull life.
A definite theory on why the Salem Witchcraft was so strongly believed involved how powerful
gender roles were. Although it is claimed in the Puritan ways that women were to be treated with
kindness and consideration, they were to be seen very little and never heard. Wives and

Foils In Hamlet
Characterization is a critical component of William Shakespeare s writing and is intricately
developed in his play Hamlet. As the protagonist, Hamlet deals with the tragedy of his father s
death, and vows to get revenge when the ghost of his late father informs him the murderer was his
Uncle, King Claudius, currently married to his mother, Queen Gertrude. Although Hamletappears to
be set on his deadly vengeance, his indecisiveness and major flaw of procrastination becomes
evident when compared to his foils in the play, Prince Fortinbras and Laertes. The literary
significance of a foil is to highlight a key component of the protagonist s character through
comparison. Prince Fortinbras and Laertes take action to avenge the death of their fathers,... Show

These three characters have massive similarities when it comes to the circumstances they are
placed in, yet their unique personalities lead them to take very different actions. Hamlet and
Laertes share rage over their individual losses, Hamlet surpasses Prince Fortinbras in motivation
and justification for revenge, yet only Prince Fortinbras and Laertes are able to take action
unconditionally to avenge their fathers. In the play, Hamlet has many chances to avenge his father
s death by killing his uncle, but he fails to do so until the very last moment. While Hamlet could
have killed King Claudius by simply poisoning his food, he went to the extent of maintaining an
antic disposition, playing with Ophelia s heart, lashing out at his mother, and killing an innocent
fool (Polonius) eventually ending in his own death. Although he ultimately achieves his goal by
killing King Claudius, Hamlet subconsciously initiates more problems than are necessary. As the
protagonist, Hamlet has a very complex character developed by Shakespeare through the use of
literary foils. Prince Fortinbras and Laertes are extremely critical to the play since they offer
insight into the cause of Hamlet s downward spiral. Without literary foils to draw attention to
Hamlet s internal weakness, it would be difficult for the audience to determine

Dante s Beasts
The Beasts and Monsters in Dante s Inferno
The Inferno is the first section of Dante s three part poem, The Divine Comedy. Throughout Dante s
epic journey into the depths of Inferno he encounters thirty monsters and five hybrid creatures. The
most significant of these monsters are of central importance to his journey and to the narrative, as
they not only challenge Dante s presence in Inferno, but are custodians of Hell, keeping in order or
guarding the perduta gente . In this essay I am concentrating on these prominent beasts, namely
Minos, Cerberus, Plutus and Geryon, establishing why they feature in Dante s eschatological vision
and discussing the sources which influenced his inclusion of these particular creatures. These four

His serpentine torso and writhing tail connect him with the previous monsters that Dante has
encountered. The twisting movement of Geryon s tail reminds the reader of the manner with
which Minos wraps his tail around the sinners, and the description of Cerberus as il gran vermo
adds to this snaky imagery associated with these beasts. The power the monsters have in their
tails would have been meaningful for Dante s readers as it was commonly noted in medieval
times that a beast s tail showed its ferocity and held much of its strength. This is illustrated by
Brunetto Latini s descriptions of the dragon and the lion in his Li Livres dou Tresor, as well as in
Revelations where the power of the horses lay...in their tails; for their tails were like snakes.(6)
This association with serpents is also significant as the serpent was the first deceiver (7),
establishing the deception and terror connected with these monsters which adds to the uncertain
and disordered atmosphere in Inferno.
Dante s readers would have been familiar with the beasts he discusses in Inferno as they are firmly

  • 2. How Scientists Can Most Efficiently Complete Organ... Abstract: The purpose of this experiment is to test how scientists can most efficiently complete organ printing. In this lab, the cells will be suspended in a substrate called sodium alginate collagen, hydrogel, and other reactants. These materials will react to then embed the cells to their goal location. Then, the cells will be able to be fixated into layers. These layers will then come together and form tissues, which according to biological organization will form organs. The inkjet bioprinter allows for this to occur. Tiny inkdroplets form a digital design for the organ printing, and in horizontal sheets, the organ is created tissue by tissue. This lab will test to see which percent concentration of the sodium alginate collagen composite will prove to be most effective when organ printing. The dependent factor that will determine the conclusion will be the percent of efficiency of cell survival rate. Four trials will be completed in which the same organ is printed and all factors are kept constant, except for the percent concentration of the substrate. Introduction: In the past, the only way to replace diminished cells, tissues, and organs was from organ transplantation. An organ donor was needed, and the tissues would be surgically removed from the donated body and placed into the recipient. Due to the current research being conducted, it is believed that tissue engineering and organ printing can contribute to the process of improving and saving lives. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Reflective Argument Paper The four distinct learning objectives are as follows: First, students are required to be able to adopt a rhetorical perspective in order to identify, analyze, and describe the various aspects within one s own discourse community. How I will show this objective is by citing earlier identifications of genre, conventions, and occasions for writingmade in my assignment two. Second, students must produce writing that draws considerably on concepts from primary or secondary sources. For this objective I cited my assignment two which includes primary sourcematerial and argues a rationalization for change within a journal. Thirdly, students should show a flexible writing process that adapts to the different writing situations and tasks. I cite again assignment two, where I examined an article to argue a change over time. Lastly, the student s writing shows reflective properties to makes choices and changes in their writing as well as how they might use those same properties to approach a completely new writing task. For how I achieved this objective I reference the group work I did which began with an interdisciplinary concept, then Shown within this reflective argument is my method for reaching the four learning objectives of Wayne State s English 3010 classes. I have incorporated assignment one, two, and some responses to support my claimed ability. Learning objective one requires students to accurately identify, describe, and analyze common rhetorical moves used by our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Difference Between Cultural Relativism And Absolutism Cultures vary in behavior, habits, attitudes, beliefs, languages, etc. Absolutism is regarded by everyone and is not limited by anything. Relativism is regarded by everyone in the same manner such that it is not limited by people, situations, time, or location. There are distinct anthropological facts that support both cultural relativism and absolutism with respect to moralprinciples. Moral principles within cultural relativism do vary and any given culture believe theirs is the true moral value. Three anthropological facts outlined by relativism are as follows. 1.In relation to customs, manners, taboos, religions, moralities, habits, and attitudes there is a large deviation between cultures. 2.Moral beliefs and attitudes within any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Citizens of a given culture believe that the moralities that they uphold and live by are the only true morals. Problems that may arise from relativism may occur when a particular cultures tries to enforce their beliefs, values or laws onto another society or culture and condemn that culture for not adhering to their moral values and punishing by engaging in terroristic threats or warfare. Further, a tradition may be considered right or wrong in one culture but the opposite in another, since there is no superior authority we cannot say whether any given tradition is indeed right or wrong. Moral principles within cultural absolutism do not vary and all cultures follow the same moral values. Four anthropological facts outlined by absolutism are as follows. 1.Principles of what is right and wrong are consistent across all cultures, including but not limited to preservation of human life, honesty, respect for elders, sexual conduct, taking responsibility for personal actions. 2.The needs of citizens are similar across all cultures; consumption of food and clean water, shelter, sexual management. 3.Relationships, habits, situations are similar in all cultures including opposite gender, preferences dealing with religion, family, language, and performance ... Ada s Metamorphosis to Independent Woman in Cold Mountain As Ada arrives at Black Cove, she and her father are completely unprepared for a life of independence. The ride there becomes the first of their problems. A new horse and cabriolet were purchased for the trip, but that was their first mistake. The rain fell aslant, coming at their faces so that the top of the carriage did little good in sheltering them from it (55). Monroe, Ada s father, had no idea on how to get to Cold Mountain, and At each fork, Monroe simply guessed at the route they ought to take (55). Ada s life in Charleston was one of aristocracy. She enjoyed balls, parties, and suitors, none of which helped her in any way at Black Cove. Ruby comments that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ada learns from Ruby about the nature of the world. You commence by trying to see what likes what, Ruby said. Which Ada interpreted to mean, Observe and understand the workings of affinity in nature (138). Slowly Ada learns how to run the farm and live off its offerings. She begins to see things that she might not have noticed before. As a heron flies over her head she wonders if the sighting is A blessing? A warning beacon? Picket of the spirit world ? (193). She jots down the incident in her journal, drawing pictures of the bird and maybe other associated objects. She even says to herself I am living a life now where I keep account of the doings of particular birds (239). She is observing, and learning from, nature in its purest forms. It is easily seen that Ada acquires something of an understanding of nature in its purest forms. She is no longer afraid to do things that might seem unladylike . Ruby dangled her feet over the edge of the hayloft. Ada had never known a grown woman to do that, but Ruby looked at her with some amusement, as if to say, I can do this because I have never been proper, and you can do it because you have recently quit being so (288). • 7. Her Movie Relationships Her is a movie about the story of a man, Theodore, who falls in love with his artificially intelligent operating system, Samantha. The movie shows how a relationship began, grew and ended between a man and an operating system. This type of relationship is rare, furthermore, there is no artificial intelligence that is in the same stage of intelligence as Samantha. Nonetheless, the relationship between the two raises questions as to how genuine and true the relationship is. Before beginning to analyze the relationship between Theodore and Samantha, there are other real stories that could help better understand the type of relationship Theodore and Samantha had. Compare and contrast the attitudes and values of the two speakers of the poems and how the poets have used language to convey these between â€Å To His Coy Mistress” by Andrew Marvel and â€Å My Last Duchess” by Robert Browning Both the poems have the theme of love, written from a man’s point of view, and explores the way men treat woman in relationships. The former does this by a male narrator writing a poem to a female, using imagery to entice her. The latter by using a duke, explaining the story of what happened to his previous wife whilst looking at her picture. Both the poems use imagery and other poetic devices but in different ways. The first uses them more often to impress her. The second uses them in a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This shows he knows how to write a love poem and he again he has all the right techniques for persuading a person. The second poem does also use imagery, however in a different way and for a different purpose. The narrator is describing the duchess to the emissary â€Å That’s my last duchess painted on the wall”. This shows he is only describing the painting but as he is using the imagery he describes what she was like and how she made him angry. However as he describes her it makes her seem like she is just an object, which she was to him. This is his view of woman, that they belong to a man which was very common belief at that time. From the poetic devices used their attitudes are different because in the first he shows his sensitive side and tries to put a bit of romance into it. However the imagery in the second goes against him as he believes that she was his object and belonged to him. In both poems there is the recurrent theme of irony. In â€Å To His Coy Mistress” the poem’s entire first section is ironic in the sense that the speaker knows he isn’t being genuine. The speaker uses words to his advantage and we can take little of what he says to be truthful. In Line 1, â€Å Had we but world enough, and time”. Conflict Resolution And Conflict Resolution The ability to work well with other people within a work environment is fundamental to productivity and effectiveness in patient care (Marquis Huston, 2015). However, within active environments where interactions take place among many people all the time, there is a greater chance of conflict. Marquis and Huston (2015) mention that within a work environment there often is a variety of different values, beliefs, backgrounds, and goals coming from each individual. This leads to the expected outcome that there will be conflict. Within my professional practice regarding leadership, I want to apply conflict resolution. Conflict to me is something that I would like to avoid all together. Working at a senior living, I am the nurse manager, meaning I am in charge of the Certified Nurse Aids (CNAs). When going to work there are many tasks that I must complete during my shift and the last thing I want to add to it would be a conflict between the CNAs. Unfortunately, this happens more often than not. The types of conflicts vary including, intergroup, intrapersonal, and interpersonal conflicts. The most common type is interpersonal conflict which is a conflict between two or more people with differing values, goal, and beliefs (Marquis Huston, 2015). • 12. Chin The Largest Economy At present, China is the largest economy in the world, overtaking the US in January 2015. It is also the world s second largest oil consumer behind the US (Chen 2015) and the world s largest net importer of crude oil (Dunn 2014). Its net importer status was driven by steady economic growth, with rapidly rising Chinese petroleumdemand outpacing production growth (EIA 2014). China is also the fourth largest oil producing country in the world (Refer to Appendix ___). The growth in the developing nation s economy over the past 3 decades was heavily dependent on its low cost advantage compared to those of other countries. During this period of growth, foreign companies flocked to China to set up production facilities and factories to capitalize on this cost advantage. Raw materials are shipped to China, where factory workers build the final products and export them out to various countries (Wassener 2014). However, recently, china s economy has experienced a significant slowdown due to the shift in growth of the nation to rely more on private enterprise and domestic consumption. This shift in economy reduces its demand for industrial raw materials for manufacturing, which translates to a decrease in demand of oil for use in production plants. A survey of China s industrial heartland identified decreases in key areas of new orders, export orders and output prices (Letts 2015). Furthermore, being the world s second largest consumer of oil, this move that China makes will have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Why the Fries Taste so Good Rhetorical Analysis In the excerpt Why the Fries Taste So Good by Eric Schlosser, Schlosser deeply examines the process of one individual farmer and his process, not to mention takes it as far as going to the International Fragrance and Flavor facilities to see what truly does make the fries taste so good. He does a good job of hitting each individual appeal as a writer in order for us as readers to accept the information he s handing out. Even in Ian Brailsford s review of Schlosser s excerpt, he finds little if any opposition whatsoever. Then he moves onto the second step where he shares the competition factor of the industry and how improbable it is today to be a successful potato farmer unless you re one of the big time producers and that typical farmers today are going through such hardships just to stay alive and produce (Schlosser 2.) Then, he examines the third and final tier of the information and that s wrapping it all up into why the french fries really do taste so good. And he does that by establishing himself as a credible, firsthand source of information by placing himself in the facilities of the IFF and seeing up close and personal what the lab professors do to the product to make it the way it is. He even provides a physical description of how to get to one of the plants and what it looks like almost to reinforce the fact that he was there and received all of this information up close and personal (Schlosser 3.) Schlosser really examined the depths of the french fry industry to a T and provided readers with just about all the information they wanted, if not more. He did it in a variety of ways, by intertwining the logical ingredient components and financial state of what it takes to be a financial farmer, as well as the pathetic appeal of introducing readers to a rags to riches story of a poor farm boy making it big by holding onto a small dream ... Beloved embodies the disremembering of the actions towards black people that took place in the United States. The primary analysis where the protagonist, Sethe, has killed her own child might sound like she is an insane heartless mother who murdered her own daughter. As a result, we believe the ghost of the child haunts her throughout the novel. The simplistic observation is to adjudicate that this act was wrong. However, we have to acknowledge all the different factors that contribute to Sethe s violent act. Her violent past at Sweet Home is something she doesn t want her child to experience. Sethe will be forever haunted by the events and memories that slavery has done to her, as well as the haunted spirit of her daughter. The consequences of injustice, the parameters of the maternal instinct and the question of whether or not ethics can even exist in a corrupted moral system shows how the complicated nature of things affects the human experience. By gathering information through each character s involvement with slavery, we can understand where they are coming from and the deeper meaning of the story. Morrison intentionally wrote the story with such ambiguity with the intent to make the readers think. There is also some ambiguity regarding Paul D and his chain gang. It is written that they have escaped in unison from where they were held. Even though Morrison explains the scene in detail, it is hard to believe at first how they have escaped collectively. Theory Analysis on Haydn s Piano Sonata in Bb Major Haydn Piano Sonata in Bb Major Haydn s Piano Sonata in Bb major has three clearly defined sections: the exposition, the development, and the recapitulation. In the exposition, the thematic statement from measure 1 through 10 is more or less the introduction followed by a theme in parallel period from measures 11 to beat two of 22. Up to this point we are in the key of Bb major, ending on a half cadence. Though it stays in this key, E is tonicized with a five of four in measures 11 and 16. Next is what I consider a bridge section in F major, connecting the themes in Bb to the themes in F. As far as ascending and descending lines go, a lot of them are the same from the exposition, but they are just in different keys, such as 73 through 76, and 79 through the down beat of 84. The first is ascending in the key of F major as opposed to the key of Bb major in the introduction, and the second is descending in the key of C major as opposed to measures 31 through 35 in F major. This leads us to the third and final section of the sonata: the recapitulation. It begins in measure 102 and goes to the end of the piece in measure 148. The entire recapitulation is in the key of Bb major, but includes several thematic statements from both the exposition and the development. It begins with the same exact introduction from the exposition; same theme, same key (Bb). Then, it gets thrown off at 108, when it doesn t quite follow the introduction. Basically, measures 7 through 10 are deleted from the re statement, and instead takes us to the equivalency of the bridge section, but in Bb instead of F. That part is very crucial I feel, because when it was in F, its purpose was to sound like it needed to go on, whereas in Bb, it sounds like we re coming to a close by returning to the original key. So in conclusion, from 110 to the end, it is exactly the same as the second part of the exposition, except instead of being in F, it is in Bb. If I may say so, this ... The novel style autobiography frames Alison s childhood and adolescence as she struggles with themes of sexual confusion, gender identity, and convoluted family dynamics. These ideas are explored through the examination of Alison s relationship with her father, and their shared passion for literature. Early on in her childhood, Alison came to the realization that her family was different. As individuals, and as a unit, they were just plain weird. Unlike most young girls, Alison lacked a strong bond with her parents, most notably her father, Bruce. Because they both display introverted personalities and had divergent gender identities, Alison and her father never devised a solid relationship. Bruce is described as possessing generally feminine qualities having passion for fine art and sophisticated interior design; whereas Alison claims to have become a connoisseur of masculinity at a young age (95). Neither of them fit their stereotypical role within the family; Bruce didn t act like a macho man dad, and Alison wasn t playing dress up with all the other little girls. Pew Research Center had conducted a survey and the results are as followed. 59% of Americans say racism is a big problem in our society, while 29% say it is somewhat of a problem and 12% say racism in the U.S. is a small problem or not a problem (Neal). Today transsexuality, also known as genderidentity disorder (GID), represents a term that is medically used to categorize and diagnose individuals who show a strong and persistent cross gender identification and discomfort with their anatomical sex. For example, an individual that believes that his and or her assigned sex at birth conflicts with their psychological gender, and is likewise preoccupied with getting rid of their sex characteristics is an individual who suffers from GID. In response to the medicalization of transsexualism, much of society s current legal and social understanding of trans persons has become rooted in the ongoing medico scientific discourse. Moreover, modern day transsexualism has been historically and socio medically constructed through the growing demand for self expression and transformation, which correspondingly challenges the sex and gender regime of the West. The term transsexual first appeared in the scientific literature work of Magnus Hirschfled in 1923. He is considered one of the most noted men to have greatly contributed to the medical advancement of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This essay examines the trajectory of India s fiscal policy with particular focus on historical trends, the development of fiscal discipline frameworks, the recent experience of fiscal response to the global financial crisis and subsequent return to a fiscal consolidation path. The initial years of India s planned development strategy were characterized by a conservative fiscal policy whereby deficits were kept under control. The tax system was geared to transfer resources from the private sector to fund the large public sector driven industrialization process and also cover social welfare schemes. Indirect taxes were a larger source of revenue than direct taxes. However, growth was anemic and the system was prone to inefficiencies. In the 1980s some attempts were made to reform particular sectors and make some changes in the tax system. But the public debt increased, as did the fiscal deficit. Triggered by higher oil prices and political uncertainties, the balance of payments crisis of 1991 led to economic liberalization. The reform of the tax system commenced with direct taxes increasing their share in Comparison to indirect taxes. The fiscal deficit was brought under control. • 43. How Did The Vietnam War Influence The French Indochina War Derek Schmidt College English Opinion Based Research Essay The French Indochina War Starting in late 1946, a rebellion began in French Indochina. The French colony, only recently liberated from Japanese occupation, was eager to assert its independence from France. However, the French, wishing to retain their colonial empire, had no wish to let this happen. Backed by the United States who was afraid of the spread of communism in the area, France fought a brutal war to maintain its position of power over Indochina. Ultimately, just like the Vietnam War that succeeded it, the French IndochinaWar was a waste of time, money, and manpower. French Indochina was a colony of France consisting of the modern day countries of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. The colony was created after the French occupied several important cities and the Vietnamese were forced to sign treaties acknowledging the authority of the French over Vietnam. After gradually establishing suzerainty over Indochina between 1858 and 1893, the French created the first Indochinese Union to govern it (Indochina). French influence was strongest in the urban centers, while it had little impact on the far more populous rural areas. Moreover, if the first person had the opportunity to look at the apple with the eyes and brain of the second and compare that vision to the vision of the apple with their own eyes and brain, the apple will appear to be two different colors.
