Essay on Sunny Southern California
California, I have found it, according to their state motto. A land plentiful in beauty. The north houses
massive fields, ideal for harvesting the fruit of the vine. The middle of the state contains a massive
hub for immigrants, a bridge made of gold, and buildings widespread. Down south there is an odd
combination of Hollywood stars that own ten million dollar houses, while at the same time, only 80
miles south lies an area with a large Hispanic influence.
Imagine multiple cultures encapsulated within a one and a half mile long pier. The road can be
traveled with a 30 minute walk, a 20 minute bike ride, 15 minutes on roller blades, or a two minute
cruise in your convertible. A small strip of land that is divided as well as the Northwest ... Show more

Muscle Beach jumps out with men pumping iron just to the right of the path, it cannot be missed and
the men make sure of it. Across the street lies a neon sign displaying Tattoo Parlor right next to a
tanning salon. (Ironic considering the 75 degree weather all year round.) Lastly and definitely not least
is the Canali Café, (No, I did not misspell cannoli.) which resides just off the Ocean Front Walk on
Washington Blvd. Then my brother and I hastily crossed the steet on our bicycles to avoid the
oncoming traffic and continued to the next block.
A large fancy white building, which did not appear to belong with the neighboring shady shack on the
street, emerges from the haze. The scene looked like a set for Hair on Broadway, as 10 college women
were dancing to Bob Marley s music raising multiple signs that said, Welcome to The Kush Shop, the
doctor is in today . Once my eleven year old brother (He is not very coordinated.) saw this scene, he
immediately lost control of the bike and fell onto the sand alongside the bike path. I asked him what
had happened. He responded, I was looking at The Kush Shop and I lost my focus. What is Kush
anyway? In a sudden state of shock I replied, I m not sure, I think the sell souvenirs . I assumed that
this was not the right time to educate my brother regarding what I have learned about cannabis in
health class. Once my brother mounted his bike once more, I convinced him to ride as fast as he could

Psychoanalysis And Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Psychoanalysis Psychoanalysis is based on psychoanalytic theory postulated by the renowned
Viennese neurologist Sigmund Freud between the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and
has been reactualizándose. A little too summarizes our psyche conceived as dynamic consists of a
conscious and an unconscious part. This theory postulates that, many times, which does not allow us
to live peacefully past traumas are hidden in the unconscious, and that we must make conscious to
overcome. It is the famous couch therapy, introspection, free association. It asks the patient to say
everything you think omitting the smallest detail, however insignificant or ridiculous it may seem,
because everything has a meaning, even dreams. Thus a reconstruction of what experienced from early
childhood, because this perspective puts much emphasis on the influence of this stage in our present
emotional well done. This causes a type of therapy is quite extensive in time. Humanistic therapy ...

Cognitive behavioral therapy From a cognitive behavioral perspective is known that to solve a
problem to have to change certain behaviors, are in a very broad sense, considering each other s
thoughts, feelings and emotions. Cognitive behavioral therapy has two parts, one is the thinking about
the problem. It is the responsibility of the patient to fully contribute to defining the problem that is just
what is concerned and takes you to see. Once the vision that the patient has his problem under the
guidance of your therapist established a functional analysis of the problem, enunciating in operational
and modifiable terms is performed. Thus securing the goals of therapy and treatment begins. This is
the establishment of a program to modify behaviors, thoughts and feelings relevant to the maintenance
problem. This type of therapy seems to know how to manage anxiety, as has solved problems such as
phobias, obsessions and other associated

Naturalism in Russia and the Creation of the Moscow Art...
The earliest of the modern theatre movement was naturalism. Russia lagged behind the rest of Europe,
as far as theatre was concerned. That point was proven when the Meiningen Players performed in
Russia. The Meiningen Players created not only a set, but also an environment in which they are a part
of (Gascoigne 265). Russian producers saw, first hand, how far behind they were. The Imperial
Theatre system spent most of its resources on opera and ballet while neglecting legitimate theatre.
Most of the administrative staff was composed of government appointees who had little or no interest
of theatrical production. There was no effort to harmonize sets and costumes to create a unified
impression (Londre 359). This changed, however, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The theatre had a repertoire of plays with such playwrights as Sophocles, Shakespeare, Tolstoy,
Shakespeare, Ibsen and reluctantly Anton Chekov (Londre 361). Anton Chekov rose from poverty to
study medicine at the University of Moscow while supporting himself and his family. Chekov initially
gained fame as the author of short stories while at the same time opening a medical practice. He began
to write one act farces, but after writing a full length that was rejected by the Alexandry Theatre,
Chekov vowed to write only trifles from then on. However, he wrote another full length play, The
Seagull, which was chosen to be performed at the Alexandry Theatre for a benefit without first being
read. Theatre patrons filled the theatre expecting to see a comedy, instead seeing a play that was
unrehearsed and poorly performed. Audience members soon showed their displeasure and the play
was a flop. Chekov left St. Petersburg and promised he would never write a play to be produced again
(361). Neimirovich Danchenko was an admirer of Chekov s work and felt The Seagull would be
perfect for the Moscow Art Theatre, though Stanislavsky was not sure. Chekov initially turned down a
meeting with Neimirovich Danchenko, but agreed after a second invitation and reluctantly agreed to
allow them to stage the play. The Seagull opened at the Moscow Art Theatre in 1898. The audience
was won over by the simplicity and truthfulness of the acting and the poignancy in the relationships

Analysis of Skellig Essay
This story is about a young boy called Michael who was looking forward to moving house, but his
baby sister falls ill and he feels helpless. Michael s life changes forever when he finds a strange
creature in his garage and he confides in his new friend Mina. This book has a very interesting
storyline where issues such as death, life, friendship and love are examined carefully.
Comments and Reflections
When I first saw the book I was not sure what it was going to be about, although I did think that
Skellig was possibly an alien or creature. I had heard positive comments about the book so I was
looking forward to reading it.
I do not remember ever reading a book quite like this one before. I think it is different as it puts you

I liked David Almond s choice of characters. Skellig is a character that is not often found in children s
literature, he is gentle, yet spooky and human/non human. Michael the main character grows into a
stronger person by the end of the story, we watch him grow. I liked Mina as she is a strong minded
character who has certain beliefs which are explored in the story.
The narrative voice of this story is in the first person of Michael so we are automatically asked to
emphasise with him. I really liked the phrase `he laughed but did not smile . This phase was often said
throughout referring to Skellig. I thought the language used was effective however there was swearing
in the book which may not be appropriate to children and I thought it was irrelevant.
The passages that have stayed in my mind most vividly are chapter twenty where Michael takes Mina
to see Skellig and chapter thirty nine when Michael s mom described the dream she had had. I was
most touched by chapter twenty eight when Michael could not feel the heart beat, I thought the baby
had died and was relieved to find she had not.
I did not really dislike any part of this book but I did not like the pain the family had to go through
because of the baby s illness.
This book is the kind of book which gives you a lot of questions, but answers are hard to find. When
the character Skellig was introduced I immediately asked myself why was he in the

Example Of Respect Research Paper
If you want to be respected by others, the great thing is to respect yourself. Only by that, only by self
respect will you compel others to respect you. (Fyodor Dostoyevsky) This means that respect always
starts from the inside, and if you want to be respected you need self respect. Respect is an admiration
for someone s ability, qualities, and achievements. Three people that show respect, due to their actions
are Harriet Tubman, Abuelo, and my mom.
Harriet Tubman was a courageous woman, who saved over 300 slaves. Tubman was determined to
help the slaves in the harsh conditions, which makes her the person others would respect. One
examples of respect she showed is she risked her life to take the slaves to the south, where they would

The Military Forces Who Delivered Exemplary Performance
(Challenge Coins)
Custom coins were primarily used to reward members of the military forces who delivered exemplary
performance. This small coin features the organization s distinctive logo. Members carry it as a proof
of their membership.
The use of Challenge coins started during the World War I where all members of the United States
Navy Force, the Flying Squadron received bronze coins. History shows that one of their pilots
successfully escapes captivity from the German troops. He fled to France, where they accused him of
being a spy and sentenced him to death. The French forces were able to verify his identity through his
bronze coin and saved him from the execution.
Thereafter, the members of the armed forces created the medallion challenge. If a member cannot
present his coin, he needs to pay a drink for the challenger.
Nowadays, custom coins still serve as a symbol of camaraderie and solidarity among unit members.
Its popularity extends to various organizations such as the fire department, police units, school clubs,
weddings and many others. Customized coins feature unique elements distinct to the organization.
Challenge coins are special coins containing inscription of the name and emblem of the organization.
People with significant accomplishments acquire special coins as a form of recognition.
For the military forces, custom coins are prized possessions. Fellow soldiers ensure that they take
home the military coins of killed or wounded members. It is a great

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Solar Thermal And Solar...
Our sun produces 386,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 watts of energy every second. This
enormous amount of free energy needs to be harvested because natural resources are running out. Peak
oil production in the United States was reached in 1970 and the global peak could be coming soon.
When oil begins to run out, how will humans continue to live the way we are now? The answer to this
is the sun. The sun is the most reliable and abundant source of energy that humans can use to create
electricity. Solar thermal energy can be easily confused with solar panel energy production, so it is
important to distinguish between the two. This form of energy production has many advantages to its
use, but also some disadvantages that might drive away potential new users.
It is important to differentiate between solar thermal and solar panel technology because it can be very
easy to confuse the two. Solar thermal electric energy generation uses light from the sun to create heat.
The heat that is generated from the sun is used to run a heat engine, which turns a generator to make
electricity (Novosel and Jurij 2017). The fluid that is heated by the sunlight that is concentrated is
usually a liquid or a gas. Some examples of the fluids and gasses used are water, water and salts, air,
nitrogen, helium, and so on (Novosel and Jurij 2017). Different types of heat engines range from
steam engines to gas turbines. These various types of engines are fairly efficient and can produce
hundreds of

Communication Is The Most Effective Form Of Business...
In a work environment communication is major factor. There are two forms of communication: oral
communication and written communication. Oral Communication is the process of verbally
transmitting to give and exchange information to another person (or people). Oral communication can
be formal or informal. Formal types of oral communication are business lectures, presentations at
business meetings, commencement speeches. Informal types of oral communication are discussions
that take place in a business meeting, telephone conversations or face to face conversations. Oral
communication has adapted along with technology allowing teleconferences, video chat. Most work
places had adapted to using video conferences and teleconferences using a network to reach any and
all stakeholders in any location. Written communication is the most important communication in a
workplace. Written communication involves any type of message that makes use of the written word.
Written communication is also the most effective form of business communication. Examples of
written communication in a workplace include: email, letters, proposals, contracts, brochures and
advertisement, internet websites, faxes, newsletters.
When communicating in a workplace understanding who your audience is can help determine the
tools and forms and information you use and give to communicate. First understanding the subject and
what your audience knows and needs to know can help you communicate appropriately. Your

Comparing Second And Third Wave Feminism
Second and Third Wave Feminism: A Comparison Feminism is defined as the push for women s rights
on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men. It is broken up into three waves; the
first occurring in the nineteenth and early twentieth century, the second being the 60 s to the late 80 s,
and finally the third which began in the 90 s and is currently where we are at today. Many significant
advancements since the first wave of feminism, and many changes were made to the feminism
movement throughout the years. When comparing the second and third waves of feminism, issues
such as equal pay for equal work, maintaining a job and still being able to have a family, or not having
a family if you don t feel like it, are all common topics within the feminist movement. ... Show more

The main issues at hand included sexuality, workplace, family, and reproductive rights. Common
misconceptions of this wave include the idea that this time [was thought of] as offensive, outdated and
obsessed with the middle class white women s problems. When in fact this was not the case, many of
the women involved with feminism were also a part of the Black Civil Rights Movement, Anti
Vietnam Movement, Chicano Rights Movement, Gay and Lesbian Movement and many more that
were all fighting for the same result; equality. The reasoning behind why feminism seemed more
popular when compared to other movements was because many women felt that their voices were not
being heard and felt that in order to gain respect in co ed organizations they first needed to address
gender equality concerns. Second Wave feminism s main ideas and movements include, securing the
right to have an abortion, getting daycare, putting women in positions of political power, breaking the
stigma around rape and sexual abuse, using birth control, and much

1. Is a temperature inversion more likely to form on a calm or a windy night? Why?
A temperature inversion is most likely to form on a calm night. Windy nights are not ideal for an
inversion to occur since an inversion is considered a stable layer of atmosphere as well as due to the
wind mixing the air to even out the density, remembering cold air is denser than warm air so it will
flow downhill and pool in a valley.
2. What are the various methods used to protect sensitive crops from damaging low temperatures?

The On The Game Of Golf
The game of golf can be incredibly intimidating to a beginner. As with most things in our technology
rich environment, there are innumerable resources for beginners to turn to. We can easily become
overwhelmed with the different types of golf clubs and their usage. The first thing a beginner needs to
be able to understand is an overall breakdown of the clubs and their characteristics. Next, we need to
take a look at three distinct groupings that the clubs generally fall into. Finally, what does a newbie
need to take on the links? How does what we see the professionals use on TV compare to what we
should be looking for when we spend the money on our first golf bag?
Driver, 3 wood, 5 wood, 7 wood, 9 wood, 1 through 9 iron, pitching wedge, utility wedge, gap wedge,
sand wedge, lob wedge. That s 19 clubs and that, in and of itself, is confusing. There are two basic
items that define each of the clubs: they are the angle of the club face relative to the ground, known as
loft, and the length of each club. Previously, drivers and 3 9 woods were made of a wooden club head
attached to a steel stick, but this is no longer the case, nearly all of these clubs are now made from
composite materials that range from steel to titanium and everything in between and they are attached
to a graphite shaft. A driver s loft is often adjustable, but it is usually in the range of 10 12 degrees.
This gives the face of the club an almost perpendicular angle to the ground when used. This is

story containing many elements of Gothic horror from the earlier 19th century. They both mention the
supernatural although The Signalman is questioning it and The Red Room is a story made to prove
that there is no such thing as the supernatural. H. G Wells created fear and suspense in The Red Room

Procedure Of Completing The Tender
Once the contracting company has been selected through a single or two stage tender. The procedure
of completing the tender and actually getting the project is the next step. Tender process An invitation
to tender is a formal invitation to make an offer for the project There are several parts to form a tender
and to put in a bid to the client. In this section each part of the tender process would be explained in
detail. When it comes to tendering for a bid, it is important to understand that the different bidders that
have been invited to bid are submitting a contract, explaining why they would be perfect for the
project. The first information for a design and build tender would be defining the contract, giving
details of timescales for commencement and completion. By defining the contract, the company the
tender is sent to, will instantly know what the contract is about and have a brief idea of how they are
putting in a bid for it. When it comes to construction, timescale is very important. If a project is
delayed or starts late, the client is losing out on money and on a big project or on any project, you
want to save as much money as possible but still have the best result. So by giving details for the
commencement and completion of the project gives the client an idea when it would be done by and
they can decide if that is in the same timescale they d want the project done by. After defining the
contract, the contract conditions follow. The contract conditions

Women s Right To Abortion In The United States

she was pregnant....hospital staff had suspected her of inducing an abortion and reported her to the

has happened in countries where abortion laws are not as free as those of the United States, which

The impact...is clear: preventing low income women, especially women of color, from making their
own decisions about what is best for their families and their lives (Albaladejo, A Witch Hunt Against
Poor Women,32). What is intriguing is that the U.S., an active member of the United Nations,
international policy does not correlate to the standards set by the U.N. International standards set by
the United Nations requires states to at least provide access to safe and legal abortion in cases of rape,
incest, or threats of the life of or health of the mother (Albaladejo, A Witch Hunt Against Poor
Women,32). How is it that the United States international policy then does not give funding to clinics
in less developed countries? How can the United States policy makers decide that people such as an
11 year old Chilean girl...raped and impregnated by her mother s boyfriend (Albaladejo, A Witch Hunt
Against Poor Women,32) can be denied access to a safe abortion and expected to be a mother. This
reminded me of Hester Einstein s discussion on SAPs and how the policy s intent does not always
equal the outcome. Because most of their food production is consumed within the family or traded in
local markets, women usually do not have the resources to switch to the export crops

In Wim Wender s Buena Vista Social Club, a sense provoking landscape is created through sounds and
visuals of both Havana and the collaborative musical effort of the members of Buena Vista Social

the documentary offers a unique observance of landscape through its incorporation of moving images
and the sounds that accompany them. This is especially important when analyzing this film s

Throughout the entire film, the unknown audience follows along with the story of the Buena Vista
Social Club through a concert that Brian Davis would describe as a contact zone, which is a social
place where cultures meet, clash, and grapple with each other (Davis 84). In this interaction the Buena
Vista Social Club serves as the center, while the audience serves as the periphery that is receiving
ideas, images, and materials from the center through the lyrics of the song and music being played by
the instruments (Davis 83). Most of the songs that Buena Vista Social Club perform are centered
around the day to day struggles and celebrations of the people of Havana, whether that be a city
dweller or a campesino. The performance by the group is thus an auditory landscape of the true
lifestyle of the Havana natives and it is inherently an exhibit to the outsider of the crumbled landscape
of 1950s Havana that was reconstructed through the Buena Vista Social Club musical project.
Although the focus is primarily on the Buena Vista Social Club, the audience plays its part in the
landscape of this contact zone by expressing their approval and the excitement brought about by the
performance of the music group through the cheers and applause that can be heard throughout the

The discoveries we make can come as a result of questioning society and the world around us.
Conversely, discoveries can also be the catalyst for us questioning our world and society. These
discoveries, while sometimes uncomfortable, are what allow us to develop as people, through the
consideration of new values, and revelations of different perspectives. Robert Frost explores this in his
1914 poem Mending Wall, where the persona makes spiritual and intellectual discoveries, causing the
questioning of traditions, societal barriers, and human relationships. The first person structure and
natural imagery in Mending Wall trigger the persona, and audience alike to explore and question

international production in 2014 over the previous year. You should include an accurate description of
salient trends in the data e.g Greenfield investment and cross border M A. (Word guidance 750) By
Geography Global FDI flows rose by 9 percent in 2013 to $1.45 trillion from $1.33 trillion in 2012
(UNCTAD, 2014) Between 2012 and 2013, FDI inflows increased in all major economies developed,
developing and transition economies. FDI flows to developed economies increased by 9 percent,
reaching $566 billion, for developing countries they achieved a new high of $778 billion and inflows
to transition economies grew by 28 percent to $108 billion and accounting for 7percent of global FDI
inflows. Developing Asia remains the world s largest recipient region of FDI flows. (UNCTAD, 2014)
All sub regions of Asia saw their FDI flows rise; however, the west of Asia had their fifth consecutive
decline in FDI. FDI inflows were also up in the other major developing economies such as Africa, up
4 percent and Latin America and the Caribbean were both up 6 percent, excluding offshore financial
centres. After the sharp fall in FDI in 2012, developed economies recovered and their FDI increased 3
percent, however, it stayed at a previously low share of total global FDI flows of 39 percent, and still
55 percent below its highest point in 2007. For the second year running, developing countries

Bartleby, the Scrivener Story Analysis
Have you ever seen a person so disconnected from society and from what is considered to be normal
that he or she made you question their sanity? If so, you could relate with the lawyer in the story
Bartleby, the Scrivener. In this story, the narrator, who is a lawyer, has a simple man named Bartleby
respond to a job opening as a scrivener. Unbeknownst to the lawyer, Bartleby did not act in the
manner the lawyer would have expected. Bartleby is so outside of what is expected that it is almost as
if he had died and no longer had to live up to society s standards. In this story, Bartleby is portrayed as
a lifeless zombie and is alone with nowhere to go, no one to see, nowhere to be, and no purpose to live
for.
The first case on which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To copy someone else s work nonstop all day every day would get really tiring, but the lawyer says
Bartleby gorges himself on copying papers and documents. Usually when someone gorges him or
herself in something, it is something that they like or enjoy. In Bartleby s case this is what he does, not
because he enjoys it but because it s all he has. This is evident when the lawyer says, He ran a day and
night line, copying by sun light and by candle light. (108) This job is all he had in his life.
Another case in which Bartleby shares similarities to that of a zombie is when he repeats throughout
the story, I prefer not to. No one would ever say these words to his or her boss. That would be crazy,
but Bartleby said these words multiple times to the lawyer, his boss. This is similar to the
characteristics of a zombie, because zombies do not ever listen to anyone. They do what they want to
do and nothing more.
Bartleby took the job as a scrivener to try and find a purpose for his life, but soon after his boss
abandons him, he ends up in jail. At this moment in his life he sees that he truly has nothing. His quest
for purpose as a scrivener has failed. He is at the end of his life, not because he is old or sick
physically, but because he has nothing to live for. While in jail he refuses to eat and soon he dies. His
reason for living died a long time ago, though. His pursuit to be a scrivener was

The Importance Of The Film Incentive Program
On Friday July 10, 2017, Governor Rick Snyder signed a bill into law that effectively discontinued the
film incentive program in Michigan. While the state will keep the Michigan Film Office for the time
being, this is a major hit to a budding film industry. Since 2007, the incentive program helped to
attract the production of Hollywood films to Michigan. Notable films produced while the program was
intact include Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and the Transformers franchise. In a news release
concerning the new legislation, Governor Snyder noted that the while the program will no be active,
Michigan still has much to offer to the film industry. The states film office will continue to assist those
looking to film in the state. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He changed the program to be a cash based incentives which would cap at $25 million. Some view the
discontinuation on the program as a lack of support for creativity in Michigan. There are many
beneficial reasons for incentive based programs to be used in the state of Michigan. While many may
view them as some useless program, there is much upside to have them. For example, these programs
support local film makers, make locations more desired, create jobs, work well on a credit based
system, and provide a competitive advantage. On the subject of supporting local film makes, in
response to Michigan eliminating its incentive program, local filmmakers were highly upset. One
filmmaker stated they don t care about what we care about as creative people, as entrepreneurs, as
artists, as people who are trying to make a living. (Egan, p. 1) While the state did what they felt was
right, discontinuing the program created friction within the film making community. One of the states
key jobs is to provide for all citizens. By stopping the program, this does not happen. Much like any
state, Michigan seeks to become a more desired location on the national scale. The entertainment
industry, is one of the key ways to do so. In the reading The Great Convention Center Bailout, this is
exampled. The author states It s no surprise then that cities compete so fiercely for business. The
nation s largest convention centers in

A Study On The Chat Before The Heels Of Advocate General...
As I noted in our chat before the webinar began, coming on the heels of Advocate General Yves Bot s
opinion (such an accelerated timeline is unprecedented; a final decision usually issues 3 4 months after
the AG opinion) the news that the European Court of Justice plans to issue a final decision on October
6 raises the prospect of a swift one two punch to the Safe Harbor arrangement. The outcome could
throw the existing Safe Harbor framework into disarray and conceivably invalidate it. 2. A final
opinion invalidating the framework approved in the Commission s 2000 opinion would be seismic.

GDP and almost one third of global trade ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are being pummeled by the Parliament to suspend Safe Harbor immediately. 5. Note: the specific
question referred by the Irish High Court is the authority of DPAs to investigate and suspend transfers
under Safe Harbor. If, as the AG did, the ECJ finds that DPAs have that authority to suspend without
limitation by the Commission, one can envision a tsunami of DPA actions to suspend data transfers or
complaints asking them to do so. 6. Along with these, DPAs and the Commission can expect a rush of
submissions of Binding Corporate Rules and Model Contract clauses as organizations that have relied
on Safe Harbor look for alternatives, though Omer Tene has suggested these too may be subject to
challenge on the rationale of an opinion like the AG s. Omer is a friend and Associate Professor at the
College of Management School of Law at the Stanford University Center for Internet and Society. He
writes extensively about the internet, privacy, our digital lives, etc. 7. Lastly, a clear declaration that
the Commission s 2000 decision is invalid would nullify the legal basis for data transfers under the
Safe Harbor framework unless the Court limits the scope or the effective date of such a ruling. The
impact would fall not only on the big Internet brand names that are often the objects of European
angst, but on a great many smaller EU enterprises that lack choices for where to store data. 8. The

Theories Of Criminality And Delinquency
Crime has been around since the creation of man, and specifically, since the fall of humanity in
biblical times. Since then, people have been trying to explain what causes an individual to commit a
crime. Although the Bible explicitly confirms the origin of crime is the sinful nature of man, many
have argued as to the cause of criminality. During the eighteenth century, the argument for criminality
and delinquency was the fall of man, as the Book of Genesis explains, after Eve ate from the
forbidden tree, in Chapter 3. The first criminal act follows the fall of man, in Genesis 4:8 (NIV) where

Moore starts with the definition of criminology and then proceeds to discuss five categories of
psychological theories related to understanding criminality and delinquency (Moore, 2011). The
methods used by Moore include a database search using keywords, and consultation with an expert in
the field. The problem with the method Moore used is the limited categories of psychological theories
in her article. Since there are so many different theories attempting to explain criminality and
delinquency, Moore excluded those theories addressing crime and delinquency from a sociological
perspective, and focused on the psychological theories because the psychological theories tend to
address crime and delinquency at the individual level, primarily identifying individual differences that
lead to criminal behavior (Moore, 2011, p. 228). The psychological theories Moore discusses are

Genetic Engineering And The Human Race
The Hopes of Human Genetic Engineering are Dreadful If the world had the possibility to be a
healthier one, one can rest assure that it would make that possibility a reality. However, the world
already has been having that possibility through genetic engineering, but at the same time, it has
remained a possibility and not a reality. With this in mind, one must wonder why; why has it remained
a possibility? In order to successfully answer this, it is important to understand what genetic
engineering is, and how it could allow the world, specifically the human race, to become healthier. In
his article, What s Genetic Engineering, Remy Melina, a staff writer for Live Science, defines genetic
engineering as the use of technology to manipulate the genetic composition of an organism (Melina).
Basically genetic engineering consists of a process in which genes of an organism are changed to get a
desired result. As of now, genetic engineering has been used on animals and plants, but the possibility
of a healthier world relies on human genetic engineering. According to The Center for Genetics and
Society, a nonprofit information and public affairs organization, human genetic engineering is the
potential of changing inherited genes of future children ( About Human Germline Gene Editing ).
Considering the possibility of a healthier world, human genetic engineering could be used to modify,
clone, and transform genes. Nevertheless the idea of genetically modifying humans is still not

Essay Study To Quito
I was able to test out of lower level Spanish classes at WMU. Studying abroad to Quito fulfills my
upper level credits. It also helps me graduate on time. Getting 6 credits out of the way in Summer 1
puts me right on track. I plan to intern with Dr. Ernst for her Global Business course in Fall 2018.
Expanding my knowledge on a language and culture will help prepare me to work hands on with her
students. I have nearly completed my GIST degree, and am working on completing a minor in
Integrative Holistic Health and Wellness, and Geography. While I have studied abroad before this

College was only made possible for me because of the school system I went to. Kalamazoo Public
schools was able to offer to pay for 65% of my college tuition. As wonderful and helpful as it is, it
certainly does not cover everything. My parents cannot offer me assistance as they struggle to make
ends meet for the rest of their children. I already work near full time and that barely cuts it being that I
still have to cover basic needs to live out on my own. Regardless I keep pushing in every way that I
can to provide myself with the best equipped and beneficial experiences. So, receiving assistance in
any way, small or large, will help keep one foot in front of the other. It would especially be a
rewarding feeling if my college, College of Arts and Sciences, supported me in my decision making
and helped make the journey possible. If my college had my back it would help entice me to speak up
and represent my school more frequently at my own free will, than feeling like I had to set aside time
for it.
I think it is important to note the relevance of this study abroad program to my academic endeavors.
First and foremost, it gets me to graduation quickest. However, with a trip like this I might put that on
hold. If the feeling is right, and it inspires me enough, I have thought about staying at WMU longer to
double major in Spanish next to my GIST degree. I am nearly done with my GIST degree, so it
wouldn t be an unreasonable task to take on. Rather then that I am

Radiologic Encephalitis Research Paper
Diagnosis and management Clinical syndromes are never pathognomonic for a paraneoplastic
aetiology and a high index of clinical suspicion is important. Symptoms can be atypical, psychiatric or
even fluctuating and PNS should often be in the differential diagnosis of otherwise unexplained severe
neurological syndromes. Radiologic findings are especially important to rule out other possible
causes; in case of PNS they often render aspecific findings. As an exception, CT and MRI reveal
temporal lobe abnormalities in 65 80% of patients with limbic encephalitis (LE)(Dalmau and
Rosenfeld 2008) and often some degree of cerebellar atrophy is seen in the chronic stage of
predominantly cerebellar syndromes. In patients suffering from paraneoplastic cerebellar degeneration

Because of overlapping syndromes in separate antibodies, paraneoplastic antibodies should be
searched for by screening rather than by focusing on a specific antibody. Unfortunately, not all
patients with paraneoplastic syndromes have identifiable antibodies in their serum. Once a
paraneoplastic etiology is strongly suspected, a careful search for the underlying neoplasm is
mandatory. If detailed history taking, thorough physical examination and high resolution computed
tomography (CT) of chest, abdomen and pelvis do not show a primary tumor, whole body positron
emission tomography (PET) or PET/CT may be the best screening method for locating the occult
cancer(Patel et al. 2008). Besides, the type of antibody and paraneoplastic syndrome may suggest a
specific underlying tumor and indicate more directed diagnostic tests, such as mammography (or
MRI) when breast cancer is suspected. With positive antibody screening and strong suspicion of
paraneoplastic disease, negative tumor search should be repeated at 3 6 months intervals for 2 3

Macbeth is Not Well-intentioned Essay
Macbeth is Not Well intentioned
Macbeth is a well intentioned character whose downfall is caused solely by the evil advice and
influence of other characters. To what extent do you consider this statement to be true?
In William Shakespeare s, Macbeth, Macbeth is a character whose downfall is caused by a number of
factors. Despite Macbeth being portrayed as a brave, masculine soldier, he is easily persuaded by his
wife, Lady Macbeth and the witches who deliver prophecies to Macbeth. Macbeth, while being a
victim of this influence, constantly hides his inner ill intentions and makes tragic and consequential
decisions that result in his subsequent downfall. Macbeth is not well intentioned and his downfall is
not caused solely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another illustration of Macbeth s ill intent that he attempts to conceal is when he describes, I have no
spur to prick the sides of my intent, but only vaulting ambition or in other words, he cannot negate or
curb his evil intent as he is possessed, if you like, by vaulting ambition. Using the aforementioned
illustrations, we can see how Macbeth only illustrates a minimal amount of good intent and thus, one
can say that Macbeth is not a well intentioned character.
Whilst Macbeth is a strong, respectable and courageous character, he is easily influenced by other
characters such as the witches and Lady Macbeth. When the witches deliver their prophecies to
Macbeth, he misinterprets them and states, concerning the third prophecy, I will not be afraid of death
and bane till Birnam forest come to Dunsinane. The witches, whilst not helping Macbeth s cause in
anyway do not tell Macbeth to commit any crimes, as is the case when they prophesy to Macbeth,
Beware Macduff , they do not directly force Macbeth to murder Macduff s family but do strongly
influence him. Lady Macbeth attacks Macbeth s masculinity and negatively influences him in this
way, Look like the innocent flower but be the serpent under t. Despite the fact that Macbeth is strongly
influenced by these characters, they are not the sole reason for his downfall. Macbeth himself

The Matrix
This scene in the film The Matrix , directed by Andy and Larry Wachowski was when Neo first wakes
in the ship the Nebuchadnezzar which was a very important and significant scene in the movie
because it introduces Neo s team in the real on the ship and then once everyone is introduced it then
just focuses on Morpheus and Neo alone in the Matrix.
A very significant key idea that was important in the movie was that Neo has to realise his whole life
was a lie that never took place and he was living in the matrix while the real world is destroyed and
being run by Artificial Intelligence that use humans has a source of energy like a battery.
4 techniques that the directors use to portray and this significant key idea were costume, lighting,

Camera shots were used throughout the scene but two specific shots were an establishing shot and an
extreme long shot. The establishing shot was at the beginning of the scene when it shows Neo laying
down on his bed. It has an important significance to the scene because it establishes that he is in the
real world in the ship the Nebuchadnezzar and that he is literally waking up for the first time after
being asleep all his life while his mind has been in the matrix this whole time... he is also waking up
and realising that he is now in the actual real world where the reality that mankind have fallen. One
way you can tell that his is the real world is shot with a blue hue to it and this blue hue is meant to
represent the real world from the Matrix which is only shot with a green hue. Another extreme long
shot that has significance to the scene and to the movie is the extreme long shot that shows the never
ending fields which shows where human babies are grown and farmed and harvested like corn in a
field. It first shows up close a few babies being harvested and I think this is shown to show the insane
reality and terribleness which has happened to mankind, and to make the scene much more dramatic it
zooms out to show how big these fields are and that there are thousands of never ending fields and this
extreme long shot is used to show the extent of how much mankind has fallen to their own creations.

  • 2. Essay on Sunny Southern California California, I have found it, according to their state motto. A land plentiful in beauty. The north houses massive fields, ideal for harvesting the fruit of the vine. The middle of the state contains a massive hub for immigrants, a bridge made of gold, and buildings widespread. Down south there is an odd combination of Hollywood stars that own ten million dollar houses, while at the same time, only 80 miles south lies an area with a large Hispanic influence. Imagine multiple cultures encapsulated within a one and a half mile long pier. Lastly and definitely not least is the Canali Café, (No, I did not misspell cannoli.) which resides just off the Ocean Front Walk on Washington Blvd. Then my brother and I hastily crossed the steet on our bicycles to avoid the oncoming traffic and continued to the next block. A large fancy white building, which did not appear to belong with the neighboring shady shack on the street, emerges from the haze. The scene looked like a set for Hair on Broadway, as 10 college women were dancing to Bob Marley s music raising multiple signs that said, Welcome to The Kush Shop, the doctor is in today . Once my eleven year old brother (He is not very coordinated.) saw this scene, he immediately lost control of the bike and fell onto the sand alongside the bike path. I asked him what had happened. He responded, I was looking at The Kush Shop and I lost my focus. What is Kush anyway? In a sudden state of shock I replied, I m not sure, I think the sell souvenirs . Psychoanalysis And Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Psychoanalysis Psychoanalysis is based on psychoanalytic theory postulated by the renowned Viennese neurologist Sigmund Freud between the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and has been reactualizándose. A little too summarizes our psyche conceived as dynamic consists of a conscious and an unconscious part. This theory postulates that, many times, which does not allow us to live peacefully past traumas are hidden in the unconscious, and that we must make conscious to overcome. It is the famous couch therapy, introspection, free association. It asks the patient to say everything you think omitting the smallest detail, however insignificant or ridiculous it may seem, because everything has a meaning, even dreams. • 4. Naturalism in Russia and the Creation of the Moscow Art... The earliest of the modern theatre movement was naturalism. Russia lagged behind the rest of Europe, as far as theatre was concerned. That point was proven when the Meiningen Players performed in Russia. The Meiningen Players created not only a set, but also an environment in which they are a part of (Gascoigne 265). Russian producers saw, first hand, how far behind they were. The Imperial Theatre system spent most of its resources on opera and ballet while neglecting legitimate theatre. Most of the administrative staff was composed of government appointees who had little or no interest of theatrical production. There was no effort to harmonize sets and costumes to create a unified impression (Londre 359). This changed, however, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The theatre had a repertoire of plays with such playwrights as Sophocles, Shakespeare, Tolstoy, Shakespeare, Ibsen and reluctantly Anton Chekov (Londre 361). Anton Chekov rose from poverty to study medicine at the University of Moscow while supporting himself and his family. Chekov initially gained fame as the author of short stories while at the same time opening a medical practice. He began to write one act farces, but after writing a full length that was rejected by the Alexandry Theatre, Chekov vowed to write only trifles from then on. However, he wrote another full length play, The Seagull, which was chosen to be performed at the Alexandry Theatre for a benefit without first being read. Theatre patrons filled the theatre expecting to see a comedy, instead seeing a play that was unrehearsed and poorly performed. Audience members soon showed their displeasure and the play was a flop. Chekov left St. Petersburg and promised he would never write a play to be produced again (361). Neimirovich Danchenko was an admirer of Chekov s work and felt The Seagull would be perfect for the Moscow Art Theatre, though Stanislavsky was not sure. Chekov initially turned down a meeting with Neimirovich Danchenko, but agreed after a second invitation and reluctantly agreed to allow them to stage the play. The Seagull opened at the Moscow Art Theatre in 1898. The audience was won over by the simplicity and truthfulness of the acting and the poignancy in the relationships ... Michael s life changes forever when he finds a strange creature in his garage and he confides in his new friend Mina. This book has a very interesting storyline where issues such as death, life, friendship and love are examined carefully. Comments and Reflections When I first saw the book I was not sure what it was going to be about, although I did think that Skellig was possibly an alien or creature. Skellig is a character that is not often found in children s literature, he is gentle, yet spooky and human/non human. Michael the main character grows into a stronger person by the end of the story, we watch him grow. I liked Mina as she is a strong minded character who has certain beliefs which are explored in the story. The narrative voice of this story is in the first person of Michael so we are automatically asked to emphasise with him. I really liked the phrase `he laughed but did not smile . This phase was often said throughout referring to Skellig. I thought the language used was effective however there was swearing in the book which may not be appropriate to children and I thought it was irrelevant. The passages that have stayed in my mind most vividly are chapter twenty where Michael takes Mina to see Skellig and chapter thirty nine when Michael s mom described the dream she had had. I was most touched by chapter twenty eight when Michael could not feel the heart beat, I thought the baby had died and was relieved to find she had not. I did not really dislike any part of this book but I did not like the pain the family had to go through because of the baby s illness. • 8. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Solar Thermal And Solar... Our sun produces 386,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 watts of energy every second. This enormous amount of free energy needs to be harvested because natural resources are running out. Peak oil production in the United States was reached in 1970 and the global peak could be coming soon. When oil begins to run out, how will humans continue to live the way we are now? The answer to this is the sun. The sun is the most reliable and abundant source of energy that humans can use to create electricity. Solar thermal energy can be easily confused with solar panel energy production, so it is important to distinguish between the two. This form of energy production has many advantages to its use, but also some disadvantages that might drive away potential new users. It is important to differentiate between solar thermal and solar panel technology because it can be very easy to confuse the two. Solar thermal electric energy generation uses light from the sun to create heat. The heat that is generated from the sun is used to run a heat engine, which turns a generator to make electricity (Novosel and Jurij 2017). The fluid that is heated by the sunlight that is concentrated is usually a liquid or a gas. Some examples of the fluids and gasses used are water, water and salts, air, nitrogen, helium, and so on (Novosel and Jurij 2017). In this section each part of the tender process would be explained in detail. When it comes to tendering for a bid, it is important to understand that the different bidders that have been invited to bid are submitting a contract, explaining why they would be perfect for the project. The first information for a design and build tender would be defining the contract, giving details of timescales for commencement and completion. When it comes to construction, timescale is very important. If a project is delayed or starts late, the client is losing out on money and on a big project or on any project, you want to save as much money as possible but still have the best result. Robert Frost explores this in his 1914 poem Mending Wall, where the persona makes spiritual and intellectual discoveries, causing the questioning of traditions, societal barriers, and human relationships. The first person structure and natural imagery in Mending Wall trigger the persona, and audience alike to explore and question elements of their own society, leading to intriguing ideas ... • 22. Bartleby, the Scrivener Story Analysis Have you ever seen a person so disconnected from society and from what is considered to be normal that he or she made you question their sanity? If so, you could relate with the lawyer in the story Bartleby, the Scrivener. In this story, the narrator, who is a lawyer, has a simple man named Bartleby respond to a job opening as a scrivener. Unbeknownst to the lawyer, Bartleby did not act in the manner the lawyer would have expected. Bartleby is so outside of what is expected that it is almost as if he had died and no longer had to live up to society s standards. In this story, Bartleby is portrayed as a lifeless zombie and is alone with nowhere to go, no one to see, nowhere to be, and no purpose to live for. The first case on which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To copy someone else s work nonstop all day every day would get really tiring, but the lawyer says Bartleby gorges himself on copying papers and documents. Usually when someone gorges him or herself in something, it is something that they like or enjoy. In Bartleby s case this is what he does, not because he enjoys it but because it s all he has. This is evident when the lawyer says, He ran a day and night line, copying by sun light and by candle light. (108) This job is all he had in his life. Another case in which Bartleby shares similarities to that of a zombie is when he repeats throughout the story, I prefer not to. No one would ever say these words to his or her boss. That would be crazy, but Bartleby said these words multiple times to the lawyer, his boss. This is similar to the characteristics of a zombie, because zombies do not ever listen to anyone. They do what they want to do and nothing more. Bartleby took the job as a scrivener to try and find a purpose for his life, but soon after his boss abandons him, he ends up in jail. At this moment in his life he sees that he truly has nothing. His quest for purpose as a scrivener has failed. He is at the end of his life, not because he is old or sick physically, but because he has nothing to live for. While in jail he refuses to eat and soon he dies. • 23. The Importance Of The Film Incentive Program On Friday July 10, 2017, Governor Rick Snyder signed a bill into law that effectively discontinued the film incentive program in Michigan. While the state will keep the Michigan Film Office for the time being, this is a major hit to a budding film industry. Since 2007, the incentive program helped to attract the production of Hollywood films to Michigan. Notable films produced while the program was intact include Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and the Transformers franchise. In a news release concerning the new legislation, Governor Snyder noted that the while the program will no be active, Michigan still has much to offer to the film industry. He changed the program to be a cash based incentives which would cap at $25 million. Some view the discontinuation on the program as a lack of support for creativity in Michigan. There are many beneficial reasons for incentive based programs to be used in the state of Michigan. While many may view them as some useless program, there is much upside to have them. For example, these programs support local film makers, make locations more desired, create jobs, work well on a credit based system, and provide a competitive advantage. On the subject of supporting local film makes, in response to Michigan eliminating its incentive program, local filmmakers were highly upset. One filmmaker stated they don t care about what we care about as creative people, as entrepreneurs, as artists, as people who are trying to make a living. (Egan, p. 1) While the state did what they felt was right, discontinuing the program created friction within the film making community. One of the states key jobs is to provide for all citizens. By stopping the program, this does not happen. Much like any state, Michigan seeks to become a more desired location on the national scale. As I noted in our chat before the webinar began, coming on the heels of Advocate General Yves Bot s opinion (such an accelerated timeline is unprecedented; a final decision usually issues 3 4 months after the AG opinion) the news that the European Court of Justice plans to issue a final decision on October 6 raises the prospect of a swift one two punch to the Safe Harbor arrangement. The outcome could throw the existing Safe Harbor framework into disarray and conceivably invalidate it. 2. Note: the specific question referred by the Irish High Court is the authority of DPAs to investigate and suspend transfers under Safe Harbor. If, as the AG did, the ECJ finds that DPAs have that authority to suspend without limitation by the Commission, one can envision a tsunami of DPA actions to suspend data transfers or complaints asking them to do so. 6. Along with these, DPAs and the Commission can expect a rush of submissions of Binding Corporate Rules and Model Contract clauses as organizations that have relied on Safe Harbor look for alternatives, though Omer Tene has suggested these too may be subject to challenge on the rationale of an opinion like the AG s. Since then, people have been trying to explain what causes an individual to commit a crime. Although the Bible explicitly confirms the origin of crime is the sinful nature of man, many have argued as to the cause of criminality. During the eighteenth century, the argument for criminality and delinquency was the fall of man, as the Book of Genesis explains, after Eve ate from the forbidden tree, in Chapter 3. The first criminal act follows the fall of man, in Genesis 4:8 (NIV) where Now Cain said to his brother Abel, Let s go out to the field. Since there are so many different theories attempting to explain criminality and delinquency, Moore excluded those theories addressing crime and delinquency from a sociological perspective, and focused on the psychological theories because the psychological theories tend to address crime and delinquency at the individual level, primarily identifying individual differences that lead to criminal behavior (Moore, 2011, p. 228). • 26. Genetic Engineering And The Human Race The Hopes of Human Genetic Engineering are Dreadful If the world had the possibility to be a healthier one, one can rest assure that it would make that possibility a reality. However, the world already has been having that possibility through genetic engineering, but at the same time, it has remained a possibility and not a reality. With this in mind, one must wonder why; why has it remained a possibility? In order to successfully answer this, it is important to understand what genetic engineering is, and how it could allow the world, specifically the human race, to become healthier. In his article, What s Genetic Engineering, Remy Melina, a staff writer for Live Science, defines genetic engineering as the use of technology to manipulate the genetic composition of an organism (Melina). Basically genetic engineering consists of a process in which genes of an organism are changed to get a desired result. As of now, genetic engineering has been used on animals and plants, but the possibility of a healthier world relies on human genetic engineering. According to The Center for Genetics and Society, a nonprofit information and public affairs organization, human genetic engineering is the potential of changing inherited genes of future children ( About Human Germline Gene Editing ). Considering the possibility of a healthier world, human genetic engineering could be used to modify, clone, and transform genes. Nevertheless the idea of genetically modifying humans is still not ... Symptoms can be atypical, psychiatric or even fluctuating and PNS should often be in the differential diagnosis of otherwise unexplained severe neurological syndromes. Radiologic findings are especially important to rule out other possible causes; in case of PNS they often render aspecific findings. As an exception, CT and MRI reveal temporal lobe abnormalities in 65 80% of patients with limbic encephalitis (LE)(Dalmau and Rosenfeld 2008) and often some degree of cerebellar atrophy is seen in the chronic stage of predominantly cerebellar syndromes.
