Man of La Mancha
People choose to live their lives their own way and some of these people end up unhappy, and feel that
their life is not worth living. The choice a person makes on how they want to live their life, ultimately
determines their future. A person should choose to live in an illusion which leads to hope, rather then
reality which leads them to despair. The musical play Man of La Mancha , written by Dale
Wasserman, is a perfect example of this because in the play, there are characters who live in illusion
and characters who live in reality. Illusion leads a person to hope, and hope gives a person something
to live for. One persons hope can inspire another to change and to believe. Reality can lead a person to
despair, which can lead that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Don Quixote was dieing and in his bed, he was depressed until he thought he was a knight
again. Aldonza told him he was not well and he said Not well? What is sickness to the body of a
knight errant? What matter wounds? For each time he falls he shall rise again and woe to the wicked!
(Man of La Mancha pg 79). He was happy and had the illusion that he was okay. He was sick minutes
earlier and could not even get out of bed. After Aldonza brought Don Quixote back, he jumped out of
bed and felt invincible. He was not worried about dieing anymore. He was Don Quixote de La
Mancha. Sancho and Aldonza were glad to see Don Quixote back to normal.
Some people say that seeing the illusion gives false hope; but false hope is better then no hope at all.
These characters went through some remarkable changes in the way they lived their lives. These
changes ultimately gave them the life that they have always wanted: a happy life without having to
worry about the little things that lead to despair. Cervantes talks about how his comrades died asking
why they had lived at all. They should have asked Why haven t I change my life around? Why do I see
things as they are instead of how I want to see them? These are questions the characters in Cervantes
play asked themselves and they taught him one thing: that it is never too late to change the way a
person lives their

Explication of Mary Oliver’s “The Black Snake”
In Mary Oliver s poem The Black Snake, the narrator contemplates the cycle of life with the
unpredictability of death. Mary Oliver s work is known for its natural themes and a continual
affirmation of nature as a place of mystery and spirituality that holds the power to teach humans how
to value one s life and one s place (Riley). In the poem, The Black Snake, the narrator witnesses a
black snake hit by a truck and killed on a road one morning. Feeling sympathy for the snake, the
narrator stops, and removes the dead snake from the road. Noting the snake s beauty, the narrator
carries it from the road to some nearby bushes. Continuing to drive, the narrator reflects on how the
abruptness of death ultimately revealed how the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The truck was the cause of the snake s demise. That is how death happens. The snake symbolizes
death as dark and evil. The second begins with Now, he lies looped and useless (5). Beginning with
when and progressing to now , the poet is suggesting a cause and effect philosophy. The snake quickly
flashed across the road, but after being hit by the truck, lies useless in the road. The poet has given the
snake a male identity. The narrator describes the snake as an old bicycle tire (6). The poet uses this
technique of imagery to portray the now lifeless snake, as an old rubbery tire tube. The narrator reads I
stop the car (7). This conveys that the narrator is an observer, and telling the story from a third person
point of view. The narrator feels some sort of remorse or sympathy for the snake, removes him from
the road, and carries him into the bushes (8). The poet uses bushes to indicate where the snake is taken
to, and hidden or out of sight of the road. The third stanza describes the snake as cool and gleaming as
a braided whip (9 10). Describing the snake as a braided whip demonstrates the intricate woven
pattern of the snake s scales and the poet s appreciation for nature and its beauty. The snake is not a
useless piece of rubber, but a beautiful and vibrant part of nature. He is as beautiful and quiet as a bead
brother (10 11). The snake is quiet, makes no sound, and snuggles into

The Role Of Privateers In The Golden Age Of Piracy
In the Golden Age of Piracy between the 16th and 17th century, the majority of pirates sailed under
letters of marque which gave legal authorization to raid ships from other nations. English seamen were
allowed to seize Spanish ships and sell their prizes at port. If England and Spain were at peace
however, privateers would be forced to get letters of marque from other countries. Letters of marque
gave pirates a way to bypass outright piracy and instead raid under a host nation.
Using the broad definition of piracy the indiscriminate taking of property (or persons) with violence
on or by descent from the seas includes privateers. It was therefore very difficult to rid the seas of
pirates because privateers would be acting on behalf of the

Ideo s Innovation Process And The Development Of...
IDEO s innovation process is unique when compared to traditional companies and is constantly
evolving. Brainstorming and prototyping are tools that are central for the development of innovation.
Effective brainstorming, allows the group to stay focused on the topic, generates many ideas early,
defers judgment to avoid interrupting the flow of ideas, builds on the ideas of others, and can be
visual.
Client engagement is key and is accomplished by frequent meetings. Whereas, rapid prototyping
followed the three R s (Rough use hand drawn sketches, speed is more important than making it
pretty, Rapid do not get emotionally attached, and Right work on the right problems and tasks) is used
to quickly communicate ideas. The real aha s in product development occur here. IDEO s innovation
principle sums it up best If a picture is worth a thousand words, a prototype is worth ten thousand. The
entire process resembles a funnel, with several ideas at the top, three or four at the base, and only one
making it all of the way through .
The IDEO project journey consist of the following (Source: Bruce Nussbaum, The Power of Design ,
BusinessWeek, 17 May 2004, p. 71.):
Phase 0 Understand / Observe
IDEO s cognitive psychologists, anthropologists, and sociologists team up with corporate clients to
develop a comprehensive understanding of product feasibility and the client s business thru product

Urban Sprawl Of The Middle Of Manhattan
Throughout the ages of civilization, mankind has evolved its environment and along with the changes
to the environment it has affected us immensely. As skyscrapers are erected in the middle of
Manhattan, it was with the sweat on a brow of mankind. Pollution of transporting necessary objects to
create the obelisk and many factors contribute to the downfall of individuals. Environmental
psychology focuses on the study between person environment relations. Person environment can be
described as a cycle, because as well as the environment influencing us, we influence the
environment. Urban sprawl is an issue that has been brought to the light by empirical studies and the
effects on a global scale. Urban Sprawl contributes to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People shouldn t want to move to the suburbs just to have that modernity because it can result to
isolation. In the suburbs if you want to go somewhere you need a car which is just another factor on
why urban sprawl is damaging to our environment and will have long term effects for future
generations. People are adapting to the privacy of having fewer neighbors and no neighborhood in the
suburbs, but it s just pulling us back as social animals it gives us a sense of loneliness being
constrained by isolation because you basically living in the middle of nowhere. Trying to go out is a
hassle living in the suburbs because the one you need to fill up your car with fuel which is costly, and
you need to deal with the traffic. Enough with expanding outwards we need to build a new
development where it benefits the occupants and environment. Section 3: Follow The Leader Michael
Johnson has written a paper that describes the research done to study the effects that urban sprawl has
on public health. (Johnson 2001) Urban sprawl has recently become a subject of popular debate and
policy initiatives from governmental bodies and nonprofit organizations, Johnson states there are
agreements towards the aspects that urban sprawl has on the environment, but we do need policy
makers to decide and enforce an alternative so the conditions do not get worse and need to come up

Eduardo Quintana Case
Abstract
This research paper is going to focus mainly in the process followed by Officer Bird during a traffic
violation that led to the arrest of the suspect named Alejandro Quintana. The analysis of the two sides
of the coin, the officer and the suspect taken into custody is of main interest in this case. There are a
variety of steps to be followed prior to an arrest. The officer/investigator should be responsible for any
action taken towards an individual who is about to or being processed. In the particular case of
Alejandro Quintana, officer Bird executed the arrest of a suspect that clearly was suspicious utilizing
probable cause and plain view search in order to arrest him and seize the evidence. Mr. Quintana s

Bird could have not searched the trunk of Mr. Quintana s car even if she thought he was hiding
something from the law. According to Swanson et, al. (2014), the Supreme Court ruled I the 1981 case
New York v. Belton that when a police officer makes a lawful custodial arrest of the occupant of an
automobile, the officer may search the vehicle s passenger compartment as a contemporaneous
incident of arrest...The right to search includes any open or closed containers found in the passenger
compartment...It does not include the trunk (Swanson et, al. 2014), p.30). The arrest of Mr. Quintana
gives the officer the right to search the passenger s side but not the car s trunk. Officer Bird couldn t
be able to legally search Mr. Quintana s car trunk without and issued search warrant on the motor
vehicle s trunk. According to (Decker, 1999), The purpose of a warrant is to allow a neutral judicial
officer to assess whether the police have probable cause to make an arrest or conduct a search
(Decker, 1999, para.2). This one reason provides an even field for the suspect and the police officer,
giving the judge issuing the warrant the decision making process of whether or not permitting the
prosecution of the individual who can be innocent by an officer unlawfully

Character Analysis OfThe Mill On The Floss
The sharp and unruly main character of The Mill on the Floss is Maggie Tulliver. She is a gell gone
nine, at the outset of the story, the daughter of the miller Mr. Tulliver, and lives with her family on the
banks of the Floss (Eliot 8, 9, 12). When Mr. and Mrs. Tulliver begin discussing the issue of Tom s
education in their first conversation of the story, they segue into discussion of his sister. While Mrs.
Tulliver derides Maggie for being unsensible, brown skinned, and altogether unlike her side of the
family, Mr. Tulliver defends her, saying she s a straight, black eyed wench as anybody need wish to
see. I don t know i what she s behind other folks s children; and she can read almost as well as the
parson, (Eliot 12). Maggie s parents further describe her physiognomy for the reader later in this
conversation. From Mrs. Tulliver s perspective, her daughter s hair exemplifies the issue with Maggie
s character. But her hair won t curl all I can do with it... an there s her cousin Lucy s got a row o curls
round her head, an not a hair out o place, Mrs. Tulliver frets (Eliot 12, 13). Maggie s mother feels that
her daughter is a comical mistake, with her dark, heavy locks, air of a small Shetland pony, and
likeness to a Bedlam creature, (Eliot 12, 13). Because of this dissatisfaction, Mrs. Tulliver is forever
attempting to make her daughter more similar to herself and to other folks s respectable, curly haired
children. Later in the story, Maggie s character is further established by juxtaposition to her brother
Tom. Tom Tulliver differs from Maggie not only in appearance, but also in garnering motherly
affection: Mrs. Tulliver continually speaks of him with great approbation and pride, greeting him as
my sweet lad! on his return from school (Eliot 30). In addition to this contrast in affection, a contrast
in physical character is evident between the siblings. Tom is described as a lad with light brown hair,
cheeks of cream and roses, full lips, indeterminate nose and eyebrows... the generic character to
boyhood, while Maggie is moulded and colored with the most decided intention, a dark eyed,
demonstrative, rebellious girl, though it is noted that these physical appearances

Nowadays, attackers may use many means and methods to jamming and intercept the data
transmitting in the optical fiber. Ethernet is a medium shared network, the data packets that sending to
any users will also be broadcasted to everyone in the network. These packets contain the address
information of the intended users. At the client side, users will collect their own packets based on the
address information. Therefore, users may easily get the data belong to the others. For the security of
the optical Ethernet, physical security must be considered first. The purpose of physical security is to
ensure the security and performance of the transmitting data on the physical layer, and be able to alert
users when such objects cannot be guaranteed. The meanwhile, the transmitting data on the physical
level need to be further processed. This process is called information security. By processing
information security, the attackers will not be able to read the data even they actually catch the
packets. Information security can be done by encryption. Therefore, physical security and information
security must be done simultaneously. II. ANALYSIS OF PHYSICAL SECURITY Optical network

Abu Ghraib Prison Analysis
In 2008, Iraq Memory Foundation founder Kanan Makiya said in an interview with the Washington
Post, The U.S. has not committed atrocities in Iraq that are even remotely comparable to what Saddam
did. A prolific writer on Saddam Hussein s regime and an Iraqi himself, Makiya has written
extensively on the power of violence and fear in modern Iraq. This paper argues the enduring legacy
of violence within Iraq left by Saddam Hussein s regime, specifically referencing his human rights
abuses at Abu Ghraib prison. In an attempt to fully examine the rise and continuation of institutional
torture within Iraq, this paper will explore the building of Abu Ghraib prison in the late 1960s, and
subsequently examine Saddam Hussein s rise to power beginning with his joining of the Ba athist
party in 1956. Following the introductory historical background begins an examination of the effects
of, and responses to, Saddam s human rights abuses during his reign. The final portion of this paper
examines the U.S s use of torture within Iraq, and human rights violations following Saddam Hussein
execution in 2006, concluding with final remarks on the state of Abu Ghraib prison today and what it
represents for the future.

Sacrifice In Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallow
In today s world, there are many people ready to make sacrifices. Some are doing it for their country,
and some for their family and friends. The definition of sacrifice according to Webster s dictionary is
an act of slaughtering an animal or person or surrendering a possession as an offering to God or to a
divine or supernatural figure. People today do not tend to go by the same definition as others, every
person has their own meaning of sacrifice. To me, a sacrifice is something that everyone should be
willing to make on a daily basis without the fear of death. If people stop making sacrifices, then why
should we expect our soldiers to make sacrifices for us at the border?
One of the finest examples of sacrifice was shown in a film, London has Fallen. In this film all the
world leaders were going to gather for a meeting in the Bellingham Palace. During the event terrorists
attacked the place. The life of the President of the United States was in jeopardy. To safeguard the

his life to save his friends. This is an example of sacrificing to save your loved ones.
All in all, when a true sacrifice is made, it is usually made to protect one s country or loved ones.
Sacrifice will not always bring happiness to society, but sometimes it is necessary for some honorable
man or woman to make a sacrifice to keep others safe. The people who make this type of sacrifice will

Swot Analysis Of Sainsbury
Operating Profit Margin (OPM) this ratio gives the Sainsbury s management a lot of important
information about the firm profitability, mainly with respects to cost control. A high operating profit
margin means that a company has a good cost control or/ and that sales are increasing faster than
costs, which is the objective of every company.
Sainsbury s operating profit margin increased in 2014 by 0.43% to 4.21% (2013, 3.78%). This means
that every £1 of sale earns a profit of 0.0421 pence in 2014 and 0.0378 in 2013. Sainsbury s increased
in profit margin beats rival Tesco which has seen its operating profit margin at 4.14%, 3.76%
respectively. According to Sainsbury s former chief executive Justin King rise of OPM is due to 30%

costs are excluded from calculation. With, NPM ratio all costs is included to find final benefits of the

Sainsbury s seem to have more control of its costs in 2014 (2.99%) than it had in 2013 (2.58%),
increased by 0.41%. This indicates that Sainsbury s is more profitable. However, this situation could
change as they announced further cut prices which can lead to decrease in operating profit margin.
Profitability Analysis
The long term profitability of a company is vital for both the survivability of a company as well as the
as well as benefits received by shareholders.
Return on Capital employed (ROCE) is the primary ratio as measure of how efficient the organisation
is at generating profits from its capital. A higher ROCE indicate more efficient use of capital. ROCE
should always be higher than the rate at which company borrows otherwise any increase in
borrowings will reduce shareholders

Edward R. Murrow s See It Now
Television has drastically changed over time in terms of its content, reach, and accuracy. In 1954,
journalist Edward R. Murrow and his television series See it Now were dedicated to revealing the
truth to their audience no matter how unpleasant the news. Murrow had been specifically interested in
revealing the truth about Senator Joseph McCarthy, who had carried out investigations against
government workers and those of public institutions who were believed to have ties to communism.

There is a wider variety of channels in terms of quantity and quality. People have the option to seek
news from multiple sources in order to validate it and formulate their opinions on issues. Because of
this, television does not have as much influence today as it had in the 1950s. With the development of
other forms of media such as computers, smartphones, and tablets, people generally retrieve their
news from websites and applications on these devices of which there are plenty. Therefore, if coverage
of a McCarthy type politician were produced today, it would not be as much of a burden on each
journalist because the stakes would not be as high, as there are other outlets providing similar content.
However, many of today s news channels have deviated away from the principles of journalism,
which emphasize reporting the truth and not repressing any information. In the media and television
today, there is a large emphasis on advertising and image. Many companies select news to report
based on what would help to improve their reputation and generate more profit by catering to
advertisers. If the McCarthy controversy were to happen today, news channels would report on it, but
in a way that would not jeopardize themselves. It is also likely that they would skew the news to cater
to the views of their audience and advertisers. Thus, reporters would also most likely not make
statements as bold as Murrow as they would fear McCarthy potentially destroying their

Wouldn t It Be Better for Me to Invest My Money Rather Than Using It to Refinance My Mortgage?
Investing is all about making money, but so is refinancing your mortgage in a roundabout way. Smart
investors don t put all their eggs in one basket. That s why refinancing your mortgage is a good idea.
If you refinance your mortgage, you will have more money to invest. And if you are reinvesting for a
shorter term, but a higher monthly payment, then you will be able to pay off your mortgage sooner.
That means once your mortgage is paid off, you can take that money and invest the entire amount.
Additionally, paying on a mortgage doesn t come with any risk like investing in the stock market does.
Another way to look at it is by comparing how much money you would make if you had invested your
money rather than using it to refinance your mortgage. Then compare that to what you would save if
you had used your money for mortgage refinancing. Once you have those two numbers, you will also
have a clear picture as to which route is best for you. Of course this is not an exact science, because
there s no way you can predict how much you will make if you invest your money. However, you can
use your best guess based on the current market and hope for the

Political Art Ideas By Karl Marx And Friedrich Engels

Art 006 Final
Essay #1: Political Art Ideas There was a time in history where oppression was very present in
Geremy, specifically dealing with the Natzis and communism. It was a time of great struggles for
different social classes. Once history starts to form new movements, culture and art also become
affected. Due to this time communism in the 1900s made Marxism come about. It is a movement in
art associated with Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels that looks at the different levels of class and the
conflict in each one. Not only in Russia was there problems within the governmental structure, it is a
worldwide problem. The Mexican Murals are also a reflection of this idea. Therefore, Russian
Constructivism and the Mexican Mural movement employ Marxism as a theory. First, Russian
Constructivism was created by a group of Russians in the 1990s. In general their work is geometrical
and non mimetic. Some of the important figures of this time would be Tatlin, Malerich, Lissitzky, and
Kandinsky. They wrote the, Programme of the First Working Group of Constructives which has three
main points. One that Scientific communism is heavily influenced by the theory of historical
materialism. Two, real experimentation is important. Three, there are three disciplines known as
Tectonics, Faktura, and Construction. Finally Russian
Constructivists declare war on art which relates to the communistic ideas of Marxism. Additionally,

The Dangers Of Vaccinating Children From Viruses That...
Mothers who are vaccinated are protecting their unborn children from viruses that could cause birth
defects. Protecting future generations is vital in order to try and exterminate disease. The dangers of
not vaccinating include exposing the individual child to disease, and also exposing other vulnerable
people who may have compromised immune systems or not are eligible for vaccination. By receiving
a vaccination you are limiting a future outbreak. Disease has been a problem for as long as mankind
has been around. By making vaccinations mandatory for schools in every state we as a whole will be
much healthier and less likely to get sick. 93% of children between the ages of 19 35 months have
gotten the vaccine for Polio and the causes for that disease have decreased by 99%. In today s world
our medicine and science is getting much better. One of the first vaccines created was for smallpox. A
man named Edward Jenner discovered that by taking the right amount of the live virus cowpox
(vaccinia) and injecting it into his patients they did not catch smallpox. Like most things, the right
dosage of a vaccine can prevent people from getting sick. The fact that vaccines have nearly gotten rid
of some deadly diseases is a reason why getting vaccinated is important. With better education and
information, people who choose not to vaccinate their children can be encouraged to consider
vaccination, which will benefit both their families and society as a whole.

Hostile Takeovers in a DDM Situation
Sourav has illustrated in the initial portion of his discussion how it is that the HPR and DDM values of
his selected firms will differ, mainly as a result of the different assumptions underlying each formula.
Between the HPR model s generalized distribution assumption, and the DDM s time consuming need
to forecast each incremental dividend to be paid, investors are faced with a dilemma when
determining which model to use when valuing a firm. Valkama et al (2013) then add further
complication to the matter when they raise the issue of how special dividends and stock splits can then
further impact the raw inputs of these formulae, as they will therefore require special adjustments to
properly accommodate the relevance of these situations. With this information in mind, I intend on
further developing the relevance of the DDM from the perspective of an investor that is looking to
benefit from an acquisition.
Each January, Morningstar (2013) publishes a list of takeover targets for the coming year. In their
2013 list, they included 11 firms. In using this list to demonstrate the potential upside of an acquisition
to target firm shareholders, I expect to find that these firms demonstrate a lower DDM valuation than
their actual HPR value, mainly because of the way in which their common shares have
underperformed in relation to the value of their dividends, and therefore creating an opportunity for a
firm to purchase the company at a discount, and realize the gains on a forward

History Still Matters Summary
The article History Still Matters by Bill Moyers expresses some important concerns in our societies
over the loss of interest in history. Throughout the article Moyers explains the loss of interest but also
shows the reader the subject is crucial for societies to progress. He uses deeper meanings to further
understand the importance of history as well as expressing the reasons he thinks cultures have lost
interest past events. The author also mentions that although people find no relations to history in today
s world, there are conflicts that can resemble current problems. It is also imperative to realize history
has assembled our concurrent world. For those reasons we can have our own outlook and
interpretations of history to further understand the progression and stage we are currently in. ... Show

example many countries face in today s society is terrorism. When people hear the word terrorism we
immediately think of ISIS or possibly recall the 9/11 attacks. However, very few people actually
recognize the early acts of terrorism in 1st 14th Century AD by a group of people called Zealots of

Analysis Of Money And Class In America By Lewis Lapham
In his book, Money and Class in America, Lewis Lapham states, The ardor of the American faith in
money easily surpasses the intensity achieved by other societies in other times and places. This notion
is the reoccurring theme in Lapham s book. America is so taken with the idea that without money your
achievements do not mean as much as they would if they came with a large sum of cash. We as a
society value money over more important qualities such as knowledge or integrity. If you have wealth
in America you are looked up too, you are respected. Lapham wrote seeing is believing, and if an
American success is to count for anything in the world it must be clothed in the raiment of property.
What Lapham is saying is, if you have money or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To be cool in America you have to have the newest smartphones, the coolest gadgets on the market
and the trendiest clothes. Obviously to get these things you need money, so if you don t have extra
money to splurge on a phone or a new jacket instead of the same holey jacket you ve had for 5 years
you re looked down on. You re branded as an outsider because you don t have what everyone else has.
Laphman states, As often as not it isn t the money itself that means anything; it is the use of money as
the currency of the soul. Lapham is saying that money isn t the end objective for most people; it s the
things they can buy with money that they want. In the movie Clique, there were a group of very
wealthy best friends that thought they were better then everyone. As the movie went on you found out
one of the friends was not as wealthy as the others. You couldn t tell because she spent every penny
she earned on fancy clothes or expensive jewelry. She didn t want her friends to find out because she
knew they thought poor people were below them. That girl represents so many kids that want to fit in
but they don t have the in clothes or the nicer products in life. Those kids then go out and buy the
trendy clothes, not because they want them but because everyone else is wearing it. That same item of
clothing that was so in a couple weeks ago will soon go out of style and everyone else will suddenly
be into something else. It s a

The Call, Os Guinness
In his book, The Call Os Guinness presents the biblical definition of calling for the Christian.
Guinness brings clarity to what true Biblical calling is, and how it should affect our lives. Guinness
presents the skewed modern conception of calling, that is not at all biblical, and shatters its ideas.
Throughout The Call , Guinness explains how calling should transform our lives, and influence
everything that we do. Guinness explains that there are two different types of calling that work
together; primary and secondary. First, Guinness explains the concept of a primary calling that every
Christian receives. This primary call declares that Christians are called by Him, to Him and for Him.
(Pg. 31) He then further explains that we are called to Someone (God), not to something (such as
motherhood, politics or teaching) or to somewhere (such as the inner city or Outer Mongolia). (Pg. 31)
Guinness presents his idea on the primary calling as a calling directly into relationship with God that
every believer receives before anything else. It would be foolish to think that one receives a calling to
serve in a specific church as a pastor before they ever become a believer. Even further, Guinness
argues that Neither work, nor career can be fully satisfying without a deeper sense of calling but
calling itself is empty and indistinguishable from work unless there is Someone who calls. (Pg. 37)
Our primary calling it to God as believers and no one else, and if we are

John Bunyan’s Pilgrime s Progress Essay
Many people wonder what it would be like to go from a dangerous city where they live and journey to
a plentiful heaven. This storyline is portrayed in John Bunyan s allegorical book, Pilgrim s Progress.
This fascinating story describes the life of Christian, a married man living in the City of Destruction,
who longs to travel to the Celestial City. As Christian struggles to stay on the right, though more
difficult path, I fight to focus in school and not pay attention to distracting ideas. I also fight to get
strong enough in dance to become a professional dancer, just as Christian has to climb the Hill of

However, I stood strong and said no, my homework was more important to me than chatting. In the
end, I realized that by focusing on what I knew was right, I set a good example for other people to
follow. While some of my friends were mad at me, and questioned me for what I had chosen, I soon
realized that taking my path would show others how being faithful towards a goal made life easier for
me to follow God. In order for Christian to reach the Palace Beautiful, he has to climb the Hill of
Difficulty. In the same way, I had to focus on my faith in order to become stronger person of God.
Similarly, Christian discusses how the better way to go was the most difficult way versus the two other
easy, but deathly paths: Better, though difficult, the Right Way to go, Than Wrong, though easy, where
the End is Woe (Bunyan 53). Formalist and Hypocrisy both take the easier paths, but they end up in a
deadly trap. While Christian struggles to get up the Hill of Difficulty, he makes it to the Palace alive.
In the same manner, I struggled to focus on my faith, school, and dance all at once. Even though it was
harder to stay strong in my faith, I learned that I soon became a stronger person of God. I chose to take
a special Bible class in which I had an hour to focus on the Bible and my faith. This helped me

Child Custody Essay
Frequently, parents or other seeking guardians who seek custody of a child will seek guidance through
the court. In most states, family courts determine child custody arrangements based on what is in the
best interests of the child. The courts look at a number of factors in making this determination. They
look at parents desire and ability to care for the child. They also look at emotional bond between the
child and both parents or seeking guardian.
Child Custody is when a parent or guardian is granted physical and/or legal custody of a child by court
order. There are several types of child custody, but four are focused in this presentation. First, legal
custody, which means the court granted rights to make important, long term life decisions on behalf of
the child. Next, physical custody, which refers to sharing of a home with a child and handling his or
her day to day care. Then, sole custody, this is typically referring to a court ordered arrangement

Project Classroom Makeover Analysis
In Project Classroom Makeover , Cathy Davidson demonstrates the potential benefits that can come
from the implementation of technology in the current educational paradigm. Furthermore, in Sherry
Turkle s selections from Alone Together , Turkle discusses the unique relationship between a child and
his or her artificially intelligent toys, some of which included Tamagotchis and Furbies. Interestingly,
children give these toys special treatment relative to other toys. If the special treatment encourages
positive behavior, then these toys could be potentially implemented into the current educational
paradigm as a new form of technology. Therefore, the real question is are there benefits of allowing
children to play with these toys, or will there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As discussed before, as long as these toys do not shut down in response to pain and do not overly
express their pain by crying, these toys should be safe in a school environment. Also, if these toys
respond to behavior like the Tamagotchis and Furbies, then it will be beneficial to allow children to
play with these toys during school time. This is due to the ability of computers...[that can] turn
children into philosophers (Turkle, 463). For the Duke university students, computers enabled them to
create new applications for the iPod. Therefore, the computers helped turn them into a type of
philosopher, one that thinks innovatively. The iPod experiment is a perfect example of benefits of
applying technology to the education system because it did in fact turn young adults into a type of
philosophers. For children, computers turned them into a type of philosophers by transforming them
into caretakers (Turkle, 464). Philosophers of this type thinks emotionally and understands that all life,
even digital life, can be emotionally roiling (Turkle, 464). When children play with their Tamagotchis
and Furbies, they can experiment their actions with toys and not with people. This allows for them to
understand the consequences of mistreating

sales are bound to increase, further running the economy. As the majority of students do not have a lot

SOCIAL:
Attending sports games is a very social activity that people tend to do in groups rather than alone, this
is very beneficial to our marketing campaign as for every person we market too, a small group finds
out about the event. By increasing attendance, we are generating a social hub which will be appealing
for people considering attending due to a fun atmosphere. Furthermore, as young adults tend to post
their activities on social media, this is a potential for free advertisement.

Alumni: With alumni making up the large majority of the fan base at Westerns varsity games, we
already have a very large and loyal following. With successful marketing in this target market, Morton
should focus his attention on ensuring that alumni continue to return yearly by offering new events to
keep the alumni interested.
Upper year students: Upper year students make up the large majority of the Western population, but as
they are further in their education they have reached a point where their education is their priority.
Despite having less disposable income, as upper year students will be going out less often (due to their
busy schedules), they will be more willing to spend money on a more luxury night.
First year students: With 4566 first year students they are the longest term potential clients, and are
arguably the most social. First year students living in residence are often likely to attend events in
large groups , there s also a large concentration of these students in just 9 buildings. Also, these
students often have to purchase food on a daily basis and tend to have the most disposable income.

  • 2. Man of La Mancha People choose to live their lives their own way and some of these people end up unhappy, and feel that their life is not worth living. The choice a person makes on how they want to live their life, ultimately determines their future. A person should choose to live in an illusion which leads to hope, rather then reality which leads them to despair. The musical play Man of La Mancha , written by Dale Wasserman, is a perfect example of this because in the play, there are characters who live in illusion and characters who live in reality. Illusion leads a person to hope, and hope gives a person something to live for. One persons hope can inspire another to change and to believe. Reality can lead a person to despair, which can lead that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Don Quixote was dieing and in his bed, he was depressed until he thought he was a knight again. Aldonza told him he was not well and he said Not well? What is sickness to the body of a knight errant? What matter wounds? For each time he falls he shall rise again and woe to the wicked! (Man of La Mancha pg 79). He was happy and had the illusion that he was okay. He was sick minutes earlier and could not even get out of bed. After Aldonza brought Don Quixote back, he jumped out of bed and felt invincible. He was not worried about dieing anymore. He was Don Quixote de La Mancha. Sancho and Aldonza were glad to see Don Quixote back to normal. Some people say that seeing the illusion gives false hope; but false hope is better then no hope at all. These characters went through some remarkable changes in the way they lived their lives. These changes ultimately gave them the life that they have always wanted: a happy life without having to worry about the little things that lead to despair. Cervantes talks about how his comrades died asking why they had lived at all. They should have asked Why haven t I change my life around? Why do I see things as they are instead of how I want to see them? These are questions the characters in Cervantes play asked themselves and they taught him one thing: that it is never too late to change the way a person lives their ... • 3. Explication of Mary Oliver’s “The Black Snake” In Mary Oliver s poem The Black Snake, the narrator contemplates the cycle of life with the unpredictability of death. Mary Oliver s work is known for its natural themes and a continual affirmation of nature as a place of mystery and spirituality that holds the power to teach humans how to value one s life and one s place (Riley). In the poem, The Black Snake, the narrator witnesses a black snake hit by a truck and killed on a road one morning. Feeling sympathy for the snake, the narrator stops, and removes the dead snake from the road. Noting the snake s beauty, the narrator carries it from the road to some nearby bushes. Continuing to drive, the narrator reflects on how the abruptness of death ultimately revealed how the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The truck was the cause of the snake s demise. That is how death happens. The snake symbolizes death as dark and evil. The second begins with Now, he lies looped and useless (5). Beginning with when and progressing to now , the poet is suggesting a cause and effect philosophy. The snake quickly flashed across the road, but after being hit by the truck, lies useless in the road. The poet has given the snake a male identity. The narrator describes the snake as an old bicycle tire (6). The poet uses this technique of imagery to portray the now lifeless snake, as an old rubbery tire tube. The narrator reads I stop the car (7). This conveys that the narrator is an observer, and telling the story from a third person point of view. The narrator feels some sort of remorse or sympathy for the snake, removes him from the road, and carries him into the bushes (8). The poet uses bushes to indicate where the snake is taken to, and hidden or out of sight of the road. The third stanza describes the snake as cool and gleaming as a braided whip (9 10). Describing the snake as a braided whip demonstrates the intricate woven pattern of the snake s scales and the poet s appreciation for nature and its beauty. The snake is not a useless piece of rubber, but a beautiful and vibrant part of nature. He is as beautiful and quiet as a bead brother (10 11). The snake is quiet, makes no sound, and snuggles into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Role Of Privateers In The Golden Age Of Piracy In the Golden Age of Piracy between the 16th and 17th century, the majority of pirates sailed under letters of marque which gave legal authorization to raid ships from other nations. English seamen were allowed to seize Spanish ships and sell their prizes at port. If England and Spain were at peace however, privateers would be forced to get letters of marque from other countries. Letters of marque gave pirates a way to bypass outright piracy and instead raid under a host nation. Using the broad definition of piracy the indiscriminate taking of property (or persons) with violence on or by descent from the seas includes privateers. It was therefore very difficult to rid the seas of pirates because privateers would be acting on behalf of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Ideo s Innovation Process And The Development Of... IDEO s innovation process is unique when compared to traditional companies and is constantly evolving. Brainstorming and prototyping are tools that are central for the development of innovation. Effective brainstorming, allows the group to stay focused on the topic, generates many ideas early, defers judgment to avoid interrupting the flow of ideas, builds on the ideas of others, and can be visual. Client engagement is key and is accomplished by frequent meetings. Whereas, rapid prototyping followed the three R s (Rough use hand drawn sketches, speed is more important than making it pretty, Rapid do not get emotionally attached, and Right work on the right problems and tasks) is used to quickly communicate ideas. The real aha s in product development occur here. IDEO s innovation principle sums it up best If a picture is worth a thousand words, a prototype is worth ten thousand. The entire process resembles a funnel, with several ideas at the top, three or four at the base, and only one making it all of the way through . The IDEO project journey consist of the following (Source: Bruce Nussbaum, The Power of Design , BusinessWeek, 17 May 2004, p. 71.): Phase 0 Understand / Observe IDEO s cognitive psychologists, anthropologists, and sociologists team up with corporate clients to develop a comprehensive understanding of product feasibility and the client s business thru product studies and consumer observation. As skyscrapers are erected in the middle of Manhattan, it was with the sweat on a brow of mankind. Environmental psychology focuses on the study between person environment relations. People shouldn t want to move to the suburbs just to have that modernity because it can result to isolation. In the suburbs if you want to go somewhere you need a car which is just another factor on why urban sprawl is damaging to our environment and will have long term effects for future generations. People are adapting to the privacy of having fewer neighbors and no neighborhood in the suburbs, but it s just pulling us back as social animals it gives us a sense of loneliness being constrained by isolation because you basically living in the middle of nowhere. Trying to go out is a hassle living in the suburbs because the one you need to fill up your car with fuel which is costly, and you need to deal with the traffic. Enough with expanding outwards we need to build a new development where it benefits the occupants and environment. Section 3: Follow The Leader Michael Johnson has written a paper that describes the research done to study the effects that urban sprawl has on public health. (Johnson 2001) Urban sprawl has recently become a subject of popular debate and policy initiatives from governmental bodies and nonprofit organizations, Johnson states there are agreements towards the aspects that urban sprawl has on the environment, but we do need policy makers to decide and enforce an alternative so the conditions do not get worse and need to come up with new ... • 7. Eduardo Quintana Case Abstract This research paper is going to focus mainly in the process followed by Officer Bird during a traffic violation that led to the arrest of the suspect named Alejandro Quintana. The analysis of the two sides of the coin, the officer and the suspect taken into custody is of main interest in this case. There are a variety of steps to be followed prior to an arrest. The officer/investigator should be responsible for any action taken towards an individual who is about to or being processed. In the particular case of Alejandro Quintana, officer Bird executed the arrest of a suspect that clearly was suspicious utilizing probable cause and plain view search in order to arrest him and seize the evidence. Bird could have not searched the trunk of Mr. Quintana s car even if she thought he was hiding something from the law. According to Swanson et, al. (2014), the Supreme Court ruled I the 1981 case New York v. Belton that when a police officer makes a lawful custodial arrest of the occupant of an automobile, the officer may search the vehicle s passenger compartment as a contemporaneous incident of arrest...The right to search includes any open or closed containers found in the passenger compartment...It does not include the trunk (Swanson et, al. 2014), p.30). The arrest of Mr. Quintana gives the officer the right to search the passenger s side but not the car s trunk. Officer Bird couldn t be able to legally search Mr. Quintana s car trunk without and issued search warrant on the motor vehicle s trunk. According to (Decker, 1999), The purpose of a warrant is to allow a neutral judicial officer to assess whether the police have probable cause to make an arrest or conduct a search (Decker, 1999, para.2). This one reason provides an even field for the suspect and the police officer, giving the judge issuing the warrant the decision making process of whether or not permitting the prosecution of the individual who can be innocent by an officer unlawfully ... • 8. Character Analysis OfThe Mill On The Floss The sharp and unruly main character of The Mill on the Floss is Maggie Tulliver. She is a gell gone nine, at the outset of the story, the daughter of the miller Mr. Tulliver, and lives with her family on the banks of the Floss (Eliot 8, 9, 12). When Mr. and Mrs. Tulliver begin discussing the issue of Tom s education in their first conversation of the story, they segue into discussion of his sister. While Mrs. Tulliver derides Maggie for being unsensible, brown skinned, and altogether unlike her side of the family, Mr. Tulliver defends her, saying she s a straight, black eyed wench as anybody need wish to see. I don t know i what she s behind other folks s children; and she can read almost as well as the parson, (Eliot 12). Maggie s parents further describe her physiognomy for the reader later in this conversation. From Mrs. Tulliver s perspective, her daughter s hair exemplifies the issue with Maggie s character. But her hair won t curl all I can do with it... an there s her cousin Lucy s got a row o curls round her head, an not a hair out o place, Mrs. Tulliver frets (Eliot 12, 13). Maggie s mother feels that her daughter is a comical mistake, with her dark, heavy locks, air of a small Shetland pony, and likeness to a Bedlam creature, (Eliot 12, 13). Because of this dissatisfaction, Mrs. Tulliver is forever attempting to make her daughter more similar to herself and to other folks s respectable, curly haired children. Later in the story, Maggie s character is further established by juxtaposition to her brother Tom. Tom Tulliver differs from Maggie not only in appearance, but also in garnering motherly affection: Mrs. Tulliver continually speaks of him with great approbation and pride, greeting him as my sweet lad! on his return from school (Eliot 30). In addition to this contrast in affection, a contrast in physical character is evident between the siblings. Tom is described as a lad with light brown hair, cheeks of cream and roses, full lips, indeterminate nose and eyebrows... the generic character to boyhood, while Maggie is moulded and colored with the most decided intention, a dark eyed, demonstrative, rebellious girl, though it is noted that these physical appearances ... Therefore, users may easily get the data belong to the others. For the security of the optical Ethernet, physical security must be considered first. The purpose of physical security is to ensure the security and performance of the transmitting data on the physical layer, and be able to alert users when such objects cannot be guaranteed. The meanwhile, the transmitting data on the physical level need to be further processed. This process is called information security. By processing information security, the attackers will not be able to read the data even they actually catch the packets. Information security can be done by encryption. The definition of sacrifice according to Webster s dictionary is an act of slaughtering an animal or person or surrendering a possession as an offering to God or to a divine or supernatural figure. People today do not tend to go by the same definition as others, every person has their own meaning of sacrifice. To me, a sacrifice is something that everyone should be willing to make on a daily basis without the fear of death. If people stop making sacrifices, then why should we expect our soldiers to make sacrifices for us at the border? One of the finest examples of sacrifice was shown in a film, London has Fallen. And if you are reinvesting for a shorter term, but a higher monthly payment, then you will be able to pay off your mortgage sooner. That means once your mortgage is paid off, you can take that money and invest the entire amount. Additionally, paying on a mortgage doesn t come with any risk like investing in the stock market does. Hostile Takeovers in a DDM Situation Sourav has illustrated in the initial portion of his discussion how it is that the HPR and DDM values of his selected firms will differ, mainly as a result of the different assumptions underlying each formula. Between the HPR model s generalized distribution assumption, and the DDM s time consuming need to forecast each incremental dividend to be paid, investors are faced with a dilemma when determining which model to use when valuing a firm. Valkama et al (2013) then add further complication to the matter when they raise the issue of how special dividends and stock splits can then further impact the raw inputs of these formulae, as they will therefore require special adjustments to properly accommodate the relevance of these situations. With this information in mind, I intend on further developing the relevance of the DDM from the perspective of an investor that is looking to benefit from an acquisition. Each January, Morningstar (2013) publishes a list of takeover targets for the coming year. In their 2013 list, they included 11 firms. In using this list to demonstrate the potential upside of an acquisition to target firm shareholders, I expect to find that these firms demonstrate a lower DDM valuation than their actual HPR value, mainly because of the way in which their common shares have underperformed in relation to the value of their dividends, and therefore creating an opportunity for a firm to purchase the company at a discount, and realize the gains on a forward ... Guinness brings clarity to what true Biblical calling is, and how it should affect our lives. Guinness presents the skewed modern conception of calling, that is not at all biblical, and shatters its ideas. Throughout The Call , Guinness explains how calling should transform our lives, and influence everything that we do. Guinness explains that there are two different types of calling that work together; primary and secondary. First, Guinness explains the concept of a primary calling that every Christian receives. This primary call declares that Christians are called by Him, to Him and for Him. (Pg. 31) He then further explains that we are called to Someone (God), not to something (such as motherhood, politics or teaching) or to somewhere (such as the inner city or Outer Mongolia). (Pg. 31) Guinness presents his idea on the primary calling as a calling directly into relationship with God that every believer receives before anything else. It would be foolish to think that one receives a calling to serve in a specific church as a pastor before they ever become a believer. Even further, Guinness argues that Neither work, nor career can be fully satisfying without a deeper sense of calling but calling itself is empty and indistinguishable from work unless there is Someone who calls.
