Theme Of Altruism In Good To A Fault
ISU Response 1
The novel Good to a Fault by Marina Endicott, primarily revolves around the theme of altruism. The
novel begins with Clara who gets into a car accident with another family who happens to already be
dealing with many other conflicts. After the accident occurred, the mother of the victim s household
was admitted to the hospital and found out that she had cancer. It appears that the family were
financially unstable and that they were living in their vehicle moving from town to town, which met
with an accident. As a result of guilt and pure kindness, Clara takes in the kids and their grandmother
to their home. On the outside this seems like a kind, selfless act, but in her thoughts the readers
understand that she sometimes does not believe that being so generous to others that she barely knows
is good. The text so far and the overall theme of altruism made me question points in relation to my
inquiry topic: To what extent does literature have the ability to oversimplify reality? The author writes
primarily in third person, but also writes from each person s perspective through dialogue. The fact
that the author chose to include Clara s thoughts in addition to her actions, really enhanced my
understanding of Clara s personality. At first, Clara seemed like a kind individual helping others from
the goodness of her heart, but as I progressed into the novel I realized that she feels that being kind is
only solution and is pressured by it.

The Theory Of Child Development
In the early 19th Century, little attention was given to children development. Emphasis were based
upon what a child would become as they get older( Green 2013)However, it was investigated by
human developmental psychologist that Child development is relevant in relation to how individuals
relate in the environment as well as the factors that influence human development. These
psychologists developed the human developmental life span which is predominant in the society
today, although remains unsubstantiated because of the dynamics of individuals and the environment.

Lab Report On Red Cabbage Indicator
Red Cabbage Indicator Experiment
Aim: The aim of our investigation was to identify and understand how different chemicals (Acids,
alkalis and neutral) react and experience a change in colour due of this.
Introduction:
The red cabbage indicator shows how a usual household product such as red cabbage can make a
suitable indicator and be able find out if a chemical is either and acid, alkali or neutral. Acids are a
chemical that reacts with an alkali neutralising it producing water and a salt. Acids are also commonly
found to be sour tasting. Acids react with metals, releasing hydrogen gas and leaving behind a salt
they also can conduct electricity. Acids also readily give off hydrogen ions and have a pH level lower
than 7. Some more common laboratory acids are Hydrochloric, Sulphuric and Nitric Acids. Sulphuric
acids and water are used in car batteries as the electrolyte.
Bases or alkali are a chemical that will react with acids and usually have a slimy or soapy feeling on
contact with skin. Bases readily accept hydrogen ions and has a pH level that is higher the 7. Bases
have a bitter taste and neutralise d by acids, producing water and a salt. Some common laboratory
bases are Sodium Hydroxide, Potassium Hydroxide and Calcium Hydroxide. Stronger bases are
commonly used today in many cleaning products.
Indicators help us find wether if a chemical is an acid or base. The scale that is used to find wether a
chemical is an acid or a base is the pH scale. The pH scale gives

The Effects Of Social Media On America
There was no warning of the immense tragedy that hit southern Louisiana on Friday, August 12, 2016.
A rain that came in harder than most hurricanes that have hit Louisiana. This down poor stayed in the
same place for several days and did not stop. Social media had a huge effect on how this tragedy
played out. Where help was being sent, who was okay and who was not okay. People resorted to using
their phones to check on people and letting people know where help was needed with Facebook,
Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, local news stations, and the radio. After everything slowed down and
recovery started, everyone stuck together as a community. People posted GoFundMe pages on
Facebook, started groups to start going out to neighborhoods to help work on houses also on
Facebook, fundraiser concerts were promoted on Instagram. The local news stations showed where to
go and what forms to fill out if they needed help with getting started on their homes. It was the second
day of my senior year when I was woken up by rumbling thunder. My two younger sisters and I all got
in my small convertible mustang and started to drive to school. I could not see through the window
because my windshield wipers were not going fast enough to keep up with the rainfall. The country
roads were flooded the second I started driving. Everyone was driving twenty to thirty miles an hour

The Three Branches Of The Government
The Three Branches of the Government The Government has three branches for law making. When a
law is being created, it starts at the Legislative, and then gets passed to the Executive branch, then to
the Judicial branch. Each branch has their own area of the law that they look at. In the end, it is
decided if the law will be issued to the people. When the law is being created, it starts at the
Legislative branch. In the branch, Congress is made up of two houses, the Senate and the House of
Representatives. In Senate, there are 100 senators, making it two senators from each state. Once
elected, they will serve a six year term in Senate. The Vice President is known as the head of Senate,
but is only involved in the voting when there is a tie. They also approve the recommendations made
by the President to the Cabinet, the Supreme Court, federal courts, and other posts. All the Senate
must ratify all of the treaties by a two third vote. In the House of Representatives, there are 435
representatives. Each state has a certain number of representatives depending on the population. An
example of this would be New York and Rhode Island. New York would have more representatives
because the population is much bigger in the busy state then Rhode Island s would be. This is decided
by the yearly Census. If it shifts, a representative could be added or subtracted. The representatives
elected, will serve a two year term. They also elect the Speaker of the House, who is the head. . The

Value should not be confused with price, which is the quantity agreed between the seller and the buyer
in the sale of a company. This difference in a specific company s value may be due to a multitude of
reasons. For example, a large and technologically highly advanced foreign company wishes to buy a
well known national company in order to gain entry into the local market, using the reputation of the
local brand. In this case, the foreign buyer will only value the brand but not the plant, machinery, etc.
as it has more advanced assets of its own. However, the seller will give a very high value to its

Patchwork Personal Statement
Walk into any room, my friends jokingly encourage me, and then introduce us to everyone. Their
regard for my capabilities of befriending strangers is kind and inflated, but within their humor lies a
granule of truth. My patchwork history provides me with a basis for connecting with people of all
stripes. Growing up in a Navy family, I have moved around the country extensively. With such a
background, it is not hard to find similarities with people I meet or quickly learn their customs and
methods of communicating. And with such a transient youth, obtaining that skillset was a matter of
self preservation. Based on my research, it is important for lawyers to quickly understand different
perspectives and motivations of clients and opponents. With this understanding, the lawyer can then
develop a solution that addresses concerns of both the client and opposing parties. I believe the skills I

The Hard Determinist Does Not Exist
People who believe that we have no free will, that there is no free actions are known as a hard
determinists. In other words, hard determinism is the doctrine that there are no free actions. To them,
everything is casually determined and no one acts freely. The hard determinist does not deny that it
seems that we have free will. What they deny is that the way things seems is the way they are.
Nothing could ever be any other way than the way it is. Choices do not exist, free will does not exist,
and randomness does not exist. What happens depends entirely on the previous arrangements of its
cause and could not be otherwise. Hard determinist argue that all human actions are casually
determined and therefore we act freely and cannot be held morally responsible for our actions. As an
example Bob and Tom are stuck in a room. In one hand, Bob has chocolate cake and in the other hand,
he has an apple, Bob is offering him one. Tom was given a choice to either choose the chocolate cake
or the apple and he chose the chocolate cakes. To Tom, in his mind, he would say that he chose the
chocolate cake on his own free will. If he wanted to, he could have chosen the apple, nothing forced
him to pick the chocolate cake, he chose it because he wanted it, and he was free to choose either. A
hard determinist would say that his past events made him chose the chocolate cake. Maybe as a child,
he was given the sweet sugary treat more often the healthy fresh apple and because of that reason, he

Control Processes Essay
Discuss the types of control you and your friend would use and the control processes the two of you

Cybernetic control system
Is defined as a self regulating system in which standards of performance are determined, once
operating can automatically monitor the situation and take corrective action. (Management Pacific
Rim focus Bartol, Tein, Matthews, Martin 4 th edition). Cybernetic control makes performance
comparisons between the standards and actual performance, and feedback provides information on the
variances.
The cybernetic model of control is associated with delivering efficiency in mechanistic organizations

Bureaucratic control hinders innovation and inhibits rapid change. For this reason bureaucratic control
should be combined with clan control.
Clan control
According to Bartol et al clan control uses values, beliefs, traditions, corporate culture, shared norms
and informal relationships to regulate employee behavior and facilitate reaching of company goals.
Clan control builds commitment to organizational objectives by making employees willing to face
change. This replaces bureaucratic control s emphasis on rules and regulation.
For this reason clan control is needed with firms such as this with routine jobs. So in future changes
can be made such carrying different stock or more flexible duties for everyone. This will also reduce
labor costs as a person can do more then one task. Since there is increased emphasis on clan control,
the plant firm can improve productivity and reduce costs.
ASSESING CONTROL SYSTEMS
To make sure controls are facilitating change and innovation and improvement in the business control
systems need to be monitored to ensure they get expected results if problems such as the following are
present the control system will need to be looked at carefully.
Negative attitudes
Implementing of controls can lead to negative attitudes if controls don t meet the business
requirements or are poorly designed (Greenberg and Strasser 1986).

The Search For Justice In Ian Mcewan s Atonement
The pictures painted in one s head may seem harmless or even helpful to that single individual;
however, once those pictures are introduced to the real world they can take a drastic turn. What might
seem right to one could have consequences that harm those around him or her, causing chaos and
destruction. Individuals are blinded by what they believe in and many fail to stop and think about how
their actions will affect those closest to them. Briony Tallis is a prime example of this; she wants
justice to be served for a story that is made up in her head and she does not realize the toll it will take
on those around her. In Ian McEwan s Atonement, Briony s wandering imagination leads her to seek a
fictional justice that causes people around her to suffer while the truth remains hidden; although she
later tries to amend her wrongdoings, the damage has already been done and she is unsuccessful.
During her search for justice, Briony s imagination and need to create stories strongly obscures her
idea of what a rightful justice is. She [is] one of those children possessed by a desire to have the world
just so (McEwan 4). Everything she experiences is automatically turned into an event from a story,
thus causing her mind to focus on what would go along with the story rather than what is actually
happening in the real world. This is partially because she is only 13, making her too young to
understand the consequences of paying too much attention to the artificial world rather than

The Salmon Fisheries
In my hometown, a local diner serves Honey dipped Salmon. They claim that the dish is prepared
using a species of Salmon, called Chinook, which is a product of the Alaska Salmon fisheries.
Since Chinook salmon is an anadromous specie, it is born in the fresh water, migrates to the ocean for
1 5 years and then returns to the Main channel Rivers to spawn. The female lays around 3,000 14,000
eggs that are successfully fertilized by the males, however the eggs are very brittle and can be easily
destroyed. Fortunately, enough hatch and survive in Alaska to ensure healthy stocks. After spawning,
they typically die as they don t feed on anything during their widespread migration and use up all the
stored body fat for survival. ( CSSP , n.d.). As an example of their extensive migration, we can look at
the Yukon River spawners that travel more than 2,000 river miles during a 60 day period to reach
Canada . Their major populations are located in Susitana, Taku, Copper, Kuskokwin, Nushagak river
systems. The specie s returning numbers from their sprawled spawning migrations had started
declining in 2006, however they have significantly recovered now. (Wild explorer, n.d.)
The Chinook salmon is vastly sought after in Cook Inlet and Southeast Alaska by fishers because of its
great value as a sport fish. The annual value of sports industry in Alaska is about $500 million and the
annual harvest looms around 170,000 fish. ( CSU , n.d.). However, to make the fisheries

Abstract. As A Young Girl In Her Adolescent, Horney Karen
Abstract
As a young girl in her adolescent, Horney Karen was raised under harsh conditions as written in her
diaries, her parents as she describes them as a cruel disciplinary figure held Karen s brother higher
than her, this made her feel less loved and became rebellious at an early age. Lack of parental love.
This could have led Karen to study more about the theory of personality, this paper, therefore, looks at

Horney Karen (1942) said the take of men on women being pregnant, motherhood, breastfeeding, and
breasts lead to men devaluing women. She stated that the self is what determined one s being. That is,
if a person had an accurate revelation of themselves, they had a chance to realize and live to their
potential.
As a psychiatrist, Horney Karen developed a pattern of needs that were derived from neurosis. The
needs were based on the things Karen thought people required to be what they required in life.
According to Karen, people should have to have two views of themselves, one the real self and the
ideal self, whereby the real self is who one is and what they are. Whereby the real self has one s
potential for growth, the potential for happiness and power. The ideal self is, on the other hand, is used
to help the real self to develop one s potential and achievement of self. Horney came up with an
illustration explaining between the real self, despised and the ideal selves,

and it is also the catalyst for her pursuit of self discovery. She is captivated by the way the bee

tremendously by the tree because it intoxicates her with the beautiful interactions of nature (10). The
bee and the tree symbolize a union in which there is neither control nor command, but rather an

How Did Kandinsky Influence Modern Art

Chemistry and Technology in Biodiesel Essay
Chemistry and technology in biodiesel Biodiesel is a cleaner diesel fuel for diesel engines in many
types of vehicles. It is safer for the environment and is a cleaner version of diesel. It is made from
soybeans and other vegetation. It is made with a process called transesterification it seperates glycerin
from fat or oil and then methyl esters and glycerin is what is left over and used for the fuel. Biodiesel
had its origins with the invention of the diesel engine, as the diesel engine was designed to run on

A lot of the crops are home grown in the united states so, we wouldn t have to depend on other
countries for stuff to make fuels out of. Some draw backs to biodiesel is that it is more expensive to
produce than petroleum based diesel fuel, and can degrade rubber fuel lines on older engines and
reduces the life of the rubber lines. Biodiesel on a wider scale can turn crops into cash crops and
reduce the amount of crops for food. Most diesel engines can run off of biodiesel which means a lot of
vehicles wont have to be altered to use biodiesel instead of petroleum based diesel fuel. That means
they are easy to use but can sometimes be hard to find. Biodiesel affects society today, because big
businesses can use them to have greener vehicles and burn the fuel cleaner to help the environment
and can keep people from having respiratory problems because of the less pollution. It can also help
on the economy because you can use used vegetable oil from fast food restraunts. Therefore biodiesel
has pros and cons to it. It can cut down pollutions and the use of petroleum based diesel fuel, and the
dependence on other countries for petroleum. But also, it can be more expensive to produce and can
cut away at our crops for foods. These technological advances in fuel can help the environment and
reduce on pollutions which is a big deal these days. Petroleum is not a renewable resource, but this
organic vegetation is. Using a renewable resource for fuel

Crime Rates, Trends, And Variations
Introduction
Every day we tend to hear that the crime rate is up, or that it seem like crime is taking over America,
but is that really true? What do we really know about the crime rate? And what do we understand
about violent crime rates, trends, and variations? We will discuss these issues to gain a better
understanding about the UCR system.
FBI UCR for Georgia
When I checked my state, which is GA and compared what I have been told by some of my associates
from the Augusta, Georgia Richmond Country Sheriff department it was what I expected, which was
that crime rates were going down. So, there were no surprise there at all.
It showed me that between, 2012 2013 that we had some decrease in violent crimes, for instance, in
2012 based on the population of 9,915,646 we had a total 37,675 violent crimes, and in 2013 based on
the population of 9,992,167 there were only a total of 35,943 violent crimes ( Crime in the , 2013). So
there was a 4.6 percent change in violent crimes within those two years, and within the violent crime
rate per 100,000: was 380.0 for 2012, and in 2013 was 357.9 that there was an overall percent change
of 5.3 ( Crime in the , 2013). Why has it dropped? Well most LEOs believe that it has dropped because
of proactive arrests, faster responses to 911 calls, higher number of LEOs on the streets, community
policing, and more random patrols.
Thereby all of these reasons could help crime rates go down, but one can never tell with criminals.
But, for

The Poem Barbie Doll By Marge Piercy
The poem Barbie Doll by Marge Piercy in relation to diversity alludes to specific aspects of gender,
mainly targeting the female gender perspective and expectations. In the poem, Piercy is writing about
a young girl transitioning from a child to a women and how society and its idea of beauty affects her.
My interpretation of the poem is that the girl is basically crying out for help saying look I am healthy,
intelligent, and strong but no one sees or cares about those things because the only thing they see
when they look at her is her outside appearance and what society considers to be the flaws that she
possesses. Although this was written in 1936 Piercy accurately describes the feeling of being defined
or constricted by society to think, act, and look a particular way which is similar to that of todays
society which is fueled by social media, where some find personal gratification and self confidence
fueled from likes and retweets they receive. Barbie doll is the perfect title for this poem because for
the longest time a Barbie was a sign of something perfect and beautiful, a toy enjoyed by everyone
and a conventional symbol for little girls all over the United States. Similarly the girl was conforming
to be sort of like the Barbie doll in a way because of societal expectations and the want to be viewed
in a particular light by ones peers.
The beginning of the poem or the first stanza has a lighthearted tone and then as it progresses it begins
to divulge into a deeper

Contracts Case Study: Property

April 19, 2013
Introduction
In this case study, Barney is a client that running into an extreme case of misfortune facing several
issues that must be resolved in court. The issues will be outlined below with information to help
properly set Barney s expectations of his upcoming battle to keep his possessions. I have grouped the
issues based on the calls listed to the attorney in the case study.
Issue #1 mountain property that is currently in process of foreclosing includes a squatter
Barney is on his way out to his mountain property to do some fly fishing when he was welcomed by a
hostile participant. Barney tried to explain that he had the deed to prove the property belonged to him.

In a similar case in Lakewood, Ohio, the Saleets were about to have their home, along with their
neighbors homes, taken to build new higher end condominiums. The mayor of the city had pressed for
the new development as a way to strengthen the tax base. In the end, the Lakewood residents were
able to reject the proposed development, remove the blight label from their neighborhood and also
voted the mayor out (Leung, 2009). Yes, the new resort would create jobs to manage the resort, and
increase the city s income and taxes, however, the area does not qualify as one that requires this sort of
enhancement. As stated in the Institute For Justice (2013) website The justification the City had
offered for the takings was that a new development would create more jobs and taxes, but keep this in
mind: anyone s home or small business would generate more taxes as a shopping mall. If that can
justify such takings, then literally no home or business would be safe from this kind of abuse at the
hands of government (para.3). Should Barney be unable to win the opportunity to keep his home,
fighting at least gives the chance to help get the best available amount for what qualifies as full market
value.
Issue #3 Auto theft gone wrong

girlfriend. He invites her to a fancy restaurant for dinner despite their casual attire. As Barney pulls up,

Kyoto Protocol Essay
Global climate change has been a concern for everyone since scientists first discovered that our
actions from polluting can have drastic effects on our environment. Many scientists began to note the
changes in the atmosphere and temperature, global warming, in the mid 1800 s. Many people believe
that the Earth s climate cycles and changes periodically over time. Many believe that the changes
occur as a result of human activity. The big questions is what effect is our activity having on the
environment.

The Kyoto Protocol has several provisions that allow for geographic flexibility. Reductions in costs
can also be done through international trade of emissions rights. This will also depend largely on how
many countries participate in this trade. The economic costs will also depend on the length of time a
country has to enact the changes needed to fit their requirements. The longer a country procrastinates
the more expensive it will be.
Recommend a policy for climate change
There are many ideas out there on how to reduce GHG through various policies, but, coming up with
an idea on short notice is not an easy task. The best thing to do is come up with some goals that have
worked over time and put those together as one idea.
The first though would be working as a whole. Done just make this a political objective, make it a
national objective. Get the people of our country involved. Ask them for ideas and what they can do to
help out. Find ways for smaller communities to get involved and set up models for cities to help them
with ideas to reduce emissions. Many cities like Tokyo, Japan have train systems that reduce the
number of cars used by the public.
The plans have to be more individualized by area because some may need more attention than others.
Some parts of the US might not need any adjustments while other places need more. Southern
California, for example has immense smog issues and is

Identity And The Identity Of Identity
We live in a world where we are constantly dealing with the question of identity. Here is one of many
definitions of the word Identity from the Merriam Webster dictionary, The relation established by
psychological identification Who am I? What am I doing here? What is my purpose in life? These are
frequently asked questions within the minds of teenagers and young adults. In this day and age, there
have been times where many teens and young adults have tried to find psychologically where they
belong in the world and where they might discover their identity. Some will try to find their identity in
other people, (i.e Celebrities, Singers, etc.) and others will find their identity in what they listen to, or
the movies they watch, and will try to take on those personas. Because in today s society it is easier to
mask who you are, rather than discover what you are capable of. In this discourse we are going to take
a look at some examples of identity, and how we can better understand the meaning of it and how we
can apply it to today.
Issue of Identity #1: In David Hume s Bundle Theory of The Self, he states that there is no fixed self
(or identity) but rather they are all mere perceptions. (Identities) Lust, love, hate, fear, sorrow,
according to Hume these are all mere perceptions that have nothing to do with the idea or impression
of self, but that it is something that we perceive to be feeling. And that we are all made up of
perceptions and each

Syrian Refugee Crisis Sociological Analysis
This sociological analysis will define the theory of social conflict to define the underlying racial,
social, and cultural tension of the current Syrian refugee crisis in Canada. The current Syrian
immigrant crisis in Canada defines some of the major problems of established racial norms , European
values , and resources , such as job opportunities, that inhibit the integration of these people into
Canadian society. Angus Reid s (2016)) provides a current context in which the traditional view of
ethnic and racial tolerance in Canada is challenged by a polls done on the subject. These three

A value is a sociological concept of the dominant culture, such as Anglophile and Francophile culture,
which has become the dominant culture system of interaction in these Canadian groupings. In the
current Syrian immigrant crisis, many Canadians fear that a massive influx of Syrians will threat the
dominance of their Eurocentric value system. In fact, Reid (2016) suggests in his poll findings that
many Canadians feel that Syrians should adapt to Canadian norms, instead of practicing their own
culture: Canadians say they would prefer that minorities do more to fit in with mainstream Canada
(para.8). This aspect of Eurocentric values include speaking English and French languages, but more
importantly, that Syrians will be asked to forfeit their own cultural values to adapt into Canadian
society. This is the underlying conflict in the immigrant crisis, which is fueling anti immigrant
findings in the polls done by Reid in Canadian society. This aspect of social conflict theory illustrates
the cultural values of European society that are attempting for force the Syrians to rebuild their lives
as Europeans , and not Syrians. This aspect of multiculturalism in Canada is being challenged by the
increasingly Eurocentric value systems that oppose the arrival of Syrians into the country. In this
manner, Reid (2016) is attempting to dispel the social myth of Canadian

Tuesdays With Carrie Theme
A wise old, sick man once said, Because if you ve found meaning in your life, you don t want to go

Brandeis University. In his mid 70s, Morrie was diagnosed with the dreaded disease of ALS, better

Morrie, is a documentary of every Tuesday spent with him. Throughout the book, many themes were
exhibited in the page. A few of those themes include love, life and death, and the rejection of culture.
With each week going by with Mitch, Morrie displays those themes. The first theme shown repeatedly
through the novel, is love. Love is a word that many of us dream to have one day. Some are destined
to find the one, and some are meant to be on their own. A few have trouble finding love for others, and

Burial Practices Of Neanderthal Usuals
INTRODUCTION
Throughout our lives, we have buried our dead. It is a normal process, embedded into our culture
since, to what seems so to us at least, the beginning. However, we never thought to ask ourselves
when actually this practice began. Also we never thought to ask if we were the only ones to entomb
our dead in a ritualistic way. There is evidence of our distant cousins Homo neanderthalensis, or
Neanderthal, exhibit similar burial practices that we do to this day. Neanderthal sites often have
artifacts and possible different burial practices which can means that they have the ability to do
ritualistic burials. They are one of the links that may play a huge role in understanding our past, and
how our concept of death and the treatment of them began. The topic of burying the dead is a big
subject being because it is proof of some higher thought in our ancestors. One of the major questions
of human evolution is when we gained the ability to conduct more complex and advance thought. By
understanding our past we can have a better understanding of our future. If we understood how our
minds developed and formed we may be able to better predict where it is going or at the least
understand how our brains came to be up until present day.
ARGUMENT
Neanderthals were able to do most tasks modern humans were able to do, i.e. make tools. There is
even evidence of them caring for their elders and appear to be able to comprehend their own finite life
(Schwarz 2014:18). That all being

Beowulf as an Epic Hero
Beowulf as an epic hero
Beowulf is a poem that was written in Anglo Saxon, between 700 and 1000 A.D., and is probably one
of the most important works of Anglo Saxon literature. It tells the story of the heroic acts in the life of
our protagonist, Beowulf. It takes place in Scandinavia (Denmark and Sweden precisely), around 500
A.D. Beowulf is a hero of the Geats who arrives in Denmark from Geatland to help the king of the
Danes, Hrothgar. Hrothgar enjoyed a successful and prosperous reign: he built a great mead hall,
called Heorot, which mere purpose was to serve as a place where warriors could gather to drink, tell
stories and enjoy the songs of the scops or bards. But, these gatherings were quite loud and jubilant,

The definition of a hero implied facing the impossible with only courage and strength, and even if that
resulted in his death, he would consider it a most honourable way to die. After he wins the fight
against Grendel, he has the option to stay back while Grendel s mother tries to avenge him. But
Beowulf was a great warrior, and he knew that if Grendel s mother wanted someone to pay for her son
s death, it must be him, the one who killed Grendel in the first place. However, he doesn t go to her
lake just to let her have her revenge; he is determined to free Denmark from the horrifying monsters:
first Grendel, and now his mother. Another key factor in his decision is the fact that Grendel s mother
kills Aeschere, a man of Hrothgar s. But this is not all of Beowulf s greatness as a hero. He was a loyal
warrior, never betraying or letting down his lord, Hygelac. Even after Hygelac s death, he showed
loyalty and respect to both his king and the throne, and supported the son of Hygelac in becoming the
new king of the Geats. However, after a while, Hygelac s son died, and Beowulf became the new king.
His reign brought peace and prosperity to Geatland, and this lasted for fifty years, until one day, a
dragon was awoken and threatened to burn down the country. Even though he was not the same young
and strong warrior anymore, Beowulf was still brave. This shows another phase of Beowulf s life: in
his youth, he was a warrior

The Distribution Network Of Amazon Essay
Page 102 5. The most recommended distribution network suited for highly differentiated products
would be drop shipping network. It is the process where shipping avoids the retailers, meaning the
retailer isn t informed to hold any type of inventory for the customers, and instead, the products are
directly delivered to the end customers from the manufacturers. In this network, the supply chain can
divert and expand low level of inventory to a higher level of availability. It also gives an opportunity
for manufacturers to reschedule the customization when necessary. This is excellent for sellers that are
able to build to order, and for end customers who wants highly differentiated products that are in low
demand but are highly valued and are willing to wait for delivery. 10. Amazon is a company that sells
many open product categories online by allowing customers to take the time to search and shop
through the product offerings. Many product categories that are offered on Amazon may include
device accessories, kindle devices, beauty, books, electronics, health personal care, etc. The foremost
product category that can offer the greatest advantage compared with a retail store chain is most
definitely the books category. Reason to this is that the company has expanded the customer s online
shopping experience by offering such a wide range of physical and electronic books, depending on the
preference of the customers. They are able to search for the top rated selling

A Brief Look at Agamemnon
Aeschylus first portrays the blood feud as an unending cycle of bloodshed. However, in his play The
Agamemnon, he shapes the idea of law replacing the blood feud through Agamemnon s sacrifice of
Iphigenia, Clytemnestra s murder of her husband, and Orestes potential matricide to avenge his father
s death. This vendetta establishes the conditions necessary for the replacement of the blood feud with
law and justice.
The blood feud began in the early generations of the House of Atreus, which was cursed with pride
and violence. The prophetess, Cassandra, described the blood filled palace at Argos as an abominable
place, full of guilty secrets . . . yea, of unnatural murderers . . . aye, truly, a place of human sacrifice,
sprinkled with blood of babes (Aeschylus 37). After many horrific crimes in the House of Atreus,
there seemed to be an end to the blood feud, but it was only a pause. Agamemnon reignited the blood
feud by sacrificing Iphigenia, which began the events shaping the transition of the blood feud into law.
The Chorus warned about a later event saying, For patient, terrible, never to be laid, is the wrath of the
wife still plotting at home revenge for the unforgotten child (19). Because of the reignited blood feud,
the sacrifice of Iphigenia leads to the shedding of Agamemnon s blood by the hands of Clytemnestra,
further shaping the replacement of the blood feud. Agamemnon s brutal death, executed by
Clytemnestra, established the first conditions embodying the

How Social Work Affects The Lives Of Becoming A Social Worker
Social Work is a diverse field, which grants the worker the chance to touch a wide kind of people. The
range of social work is widespread that a worker could work with one population or many, depending
on the workers goals. In addition, it permits the worker with the ability to divulge into their life
passions. An individual requires a passion for the work they do because it is what pushes the desire to
help. It is important to explore what one is passionate about while embarking on the journey of
becoming a social worker. Obtaining an MSW degree helps to insure that the person who possesses it
will be able to explore the many pathways of social work. An individual with an MSW could become
a professor, do clinical social work, forensic social work or throw their hat into the political arena.
With all these different areas, narrowing down to one pathway might prove difficult. While the goal
might be to participate in every path that social work offers, one could still find sole passion in a
single population. One s passion can be discovered in a variety of ways. Their passion could have
emerged as a child, through their education, through their job or through their internships.
My passion for social work started when I was a child. I knew at a young age that I wanted to provide
support and help for people. I was not always certain what form of reinforcement and help I wanted to
provide but I knew I wanted to help people learn and mature from the matters and challenges

Failure Of Blockbuster Essay
Introduction: The rise and the advancements of the internet through faster broadband speed levels and
greater reach and affordability has resulted in the successes of many businesses like those of online
streaming services. Streaming services such as Netflix, Stan, Foxtel, Quickflix, BigPond Movies and
many others have seized on the ability to distribute movies online for a lower price than many
independent stores, or even large scale ones, forcing many to close and others to face extinction. One
of the large scale franchise stores which is of great interest to mention and talk about throughout this
report is Blockbuster. (Davis Higgins, 2013) states that Giant Movie Gallery and Blockbuster, driven
by physical rental stores, began struggling to compete with streaming and mailing platforms. Both
were driven into bankruptcy because they failed to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His skills in computing was a key to the successes of Blockbuster in the early days through his ability

wants of consumers in regard to the vast amount of film choices available. It s customisation of stores
available to different neighborhoods was an additional success as it targeted the right demographic age
group and genre interests. The key to Blockbuster s early success was the convenience and the ease of

Peacekeeping Of The United Nations Essay
Countless generations have idealized the thought of being able to live in a society without war. With
this ultimate goal many different ways of maintaining peace have been proposed or attempted. This is
known as peacekeeping . Peacekeeping attempts have been happening throughout history.
Peacekeeping is defined as the maintenance of international peace and security by the deployment of
military forces in a particular area ( Spagnol). This means the cooperation of different nation states to
complete missions or activities that will end in the result of lasting peace. The main contributor to
international peacekeeping is the United Nations. The United nations is an international organization
where the missions and work is guided by the proposing and principles contained in the founding
charter ( United Nations website). Despite the substantial amount of peacekeeping the united nations
does there are outside forces such an non governmental organizations also known as NGOS that are
peacekeeping forces as well. In retrospect peacekeeping is a very complex concept and throughout
history has had many successes but also an overwhelming amount of failures. These failures have
causes high amounts of criticism, and have led many people to believe that peacekeeping in general
has been a failure. Despite the failures of peacekeeping some countries have been more involved than
others. one of the largest contributors to peacekeeping is Canada and has made peacekeeping a

Mixed Methods Of Quantitative And Qualitative Data
Mixed methods approach was implemented deliberately to gain quantitative and qualitative data. The
integration of quantitative and qualitative data maximizes the strengths and minimizes the weaknesses
of each type of data to ensure validity and reliability. The two forms of data collection were interviews
and questionnaires. Mixed methods was chosen to gain better insight into the issue. This will help to
compare, validate or triangulate results and in doing so may help to identify trends and outcomes,
Plano Clark, (2010). Mixed methods research, is more than collecting qualitative data from interviews,
or collecting multiple forms of qualitative evidence (e.g., observations and interviews) or multiple
types of quantitative evidence (e.g., ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The next stage of the process was to structure the order and flow of answerability. The aim of this
journal is to assess attitudes of senior rugby players with regards to safety and performance during the
tackle, therefore the researcher thought close ended questions would be most appropriate. Hendricks et
al states Closed ended questions provide respondents with pre specified set of answers (items) and
response categories, (p.267). This in fact makes answering of the questionnaire less demanding for the
subjects involved. Each question consisted of the question, and response categories.
A 5 point Likert scale was used to enable the researcher to measure the significance, frequency and
size of each item. For measuring players attitude, subjects involved had to rate the significance of each
question on the following scale: (1) not at all important, (2) not too important, (3) undecided, (4)
somewhat important, (5) very important, ( Hendricks et al, 2011). To assess occurrence of training and
training behaviour the following was used, (1) never, (2) rarely, (3) sometimes, (4) frequently, (5)
always.
The finalised questionnaire enclosed 10 questions. The questionnaire consisted of 9 attitudinal
questions based on their (players) opinions on tackling technique and methods used, with the
exception of question 1 (how many times to you train in the week). Within this questionnaire players

How Did The Beatles Become So Popular
The appeal of the Beatles in 1964 could be attributed to many different things. One important reason
was that their style of music was like nothing else people would have heard on the radio. A lot of the
music on the radio was either pop or blues. The Beatles were heavily inspired by American pop and
blues acts such as Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Carl Perkins, and Elvis Presley. They combined
aspects of both genres to make very radio friendly music that was still unique to the American public.
Their appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show along with a largely promoted tour of the United States
also helped launch them into superstardom in America. The Beatles were heavily promoted to be the
biggest band in the world, and it was extremely successful. They performed dozens of concerts all
over the United States, each of which was attended by thousands of screaming fans who were so loud
that the music was barely audible. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are by far the most popular band of all time. Everybody knows who they are, and everyone in
the near future will too. The Beatles have inspired generations of children to buy instruments and start
a band. They also have influenced hundreds of musical acts, such as The Rolling Stones, Nirvana, U2,
The Beach Boys, Crosby, Stills and Nash, and countless other acts.
The Beatles also were responsible for bringing more popularity to psychedelic and experimental
music. Nothing that The Beatles wrote was new or groundbreaking, but they exposed millions of
people to music that otherwise would have never been heard. The Beatles, along with The Beach
Boys, were the first acts to have psychedelic songs that were high charting. If they weren t performed
by The Beatles, I highly doubt songs like A Day in the Life , Tommorrow Never Knows , and Lucy in
the Sky with Diamonds would get even a fraction of the popularity that they

Explore The Theme Of Love And Loss In Romeo And Juliet
The play Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare is a story about love and hate that teaches
us about the consequences of extreme passion. Throughout the play Shakespeare has explored the
themes of love, hate and loss. With these themes Shakespeare shows us how love, hate and loss can be
so tragic.
Love plays a major role in William Shakespeare s play Romeo and Juliet as it demonstrates to readers
just how far someone will go just to be together with the one they love. This is seen through Romeo,
when Benvolio, Mercutio and Romeo all attend the Capulet s party uninvited. Romeo instantly falls
head over heels in love with Juliet. After Romeo discovers that Juliet is a Capulet he still loves her
even though Romeo knows that his parents would never approve of their love for each ... Show more

Right after Romeo has found out that Juliet is a Capulet he says Is she a Capulet? O dear account! My
life is my foe s debt. (Act 1, Scene 5, Line 124). This metaphor shows us that Romeo is comparing his
love for Juliet but also to debts or payments. This quote also holds to meaning behind the word dear.
The first being that Juliet is dear to him and the other being debt because he is afraid that Juliet s
father Capulet won t approve of his love for Juliet, so Capulet would tell Romeo to stay away from his
daughter. In the scene where Romeo is standing outside Juliet s balcony declaring his love for Juliet.
One of the things that Romeo says that displays his affection for Julie is With love s light wings did I o
erperch these walls. For stony limits cannot hold love out... ( Act 2, Scene 2, Line 70). Using the
technique of imagery it justifies to us that Romeo believes that he has the wings

A Study On Dual Immersion Program
Summary 11
This article written by Potowoski was grounded on a study involving High school graduates whom
had completed a dual immersion program. A dual immersion program might have different names that
people refer to them as. I have heard such names as two way immersion or, even two way bilingual
immersion. They are the same program. They include native English speaking students and native
speakers of a foreign language. The goals of dual immersion programs are to develop bilingualism,
academic achievement, and of course cross cultural competencies in both languages .This study
analyzes their proficiency in reading writing and speaking, and also it observes their capability of
producing and identifying the correct Spanish

How accurate are these dual immersion graduates in the production of three specific verb forms the
present subjunctive, the past subjunctive, and the conditional? 3. To what extent are these dual
immersion students capable of producing and recognizing socio linguistically appropriate Spanish?
The setting of the study was an Inter American magnet school was one of the oldest dual immersion
schools in the US. It populates about 640 students ranging from pre k to 8th grade. There were 52
participants. 30 of them were heritage speakers and age they began learning English was :(9 of them
by birth, 14 since preschool, 5 since kinder or first, 2 since 3rd or 4th grade) 17 knew Spanish as a
second language and ages they began were (6 since preschool, 8 in kinder or first, 3 in 3rd or 4th
grade) and 5 were late arrival in which all 5 arrived in US during 6th or 7th only two years before
study. The measures were focused on dual immersion students overall written, reading, and oral
abilities. Two measures were used to test students oral Spanish. One was the Spanish Language
Assessment Scales Oral, a standardized exam. It includes identifying vocabulary items displayed in
ten drawings, a multiple choice listening comprehension section, and listening to a story and then
retelling it while viewing picture prompts. Another way they were tested was by the Foreign Language
Oral Skills Evaluation Matrix (FLOSEM), The FLOSEM assesses oral language proficiency in five
domains:

Government Surveillance Report
The part of Dr. Christ s lecture that remained in my mind was his input on the topic of surveillance. In
fact when he mentioned that google is able to track us, I immediately opened my phone and shut down
the ability for google to track my location. My animation connects to Dr. Christ s lecture in the sphere
of surveillance while at first this doesn t seem to connect with my project I will show you why. Notice
when you were playing the game as you moved smug, the cat, the ball followed. This is my way of
showing government surveillance. The ball reacting to smug s movements serve as a metaphor for the
way that the government is able to track us via google, our phones and various other mechanisms.
Also notice that you can trick the ball into going away from smug. This trick is a metaphor for how
people can encrypt information and use the dark web to keep information away from the government.
Also the ability to trick the ball into going in the wrong direction serves as a metaphor for how the
government is a massive inept bureaucracy that struggles to complete even the most simple tasks with
easy and swiftness. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

to figure out how to make the cat reset if it came into contact with ball. Determining how to do this

was actually playing the game. Specifically, I enjoyed tricking the ball into going into the wrong

Joseph M. Colombe
The Rev. Joseph M. Colombe followed Father Pierre. He served from 1922 1937. He was born in
1885 in Quebec, Canada and became a naturalized citizen. His ministry was marked by involvement
in underserved populations in the parish. The economic struggles that marked Father Pierre s term
expanded. In January 1927, People s Bank was placed in receivership by the state and closed. In
February 1927, Celotex Co. of Westwego at a Terrebonne Parish Sheriff s Auction bought the
Terrebonne Sugar Refinery and plantations, and no crop was produced in 1927. Two other plantations
were idle without crops, which critically affected the community and the ability of the church to serve
the community. Father Colombe in one of his letters to the Bishop references a storm in 1926, which

The Giliasso was constructed by fastening together the twin steel hulls of two standard transportation
barges, leaving space in the middle for drilling. Towed to location, the lower compartments of the
hulls were flooded, sinking the barge to the bottom. The upper compartments remained above the
water and provided a platform to hold the drilling structures, equipment, and power plant. The
Giliasso demonstrated its drilling capabilities immediately in Lake Pelto, reducing by 20 percent the
time spent on a well not related to drilling or completing, and afterward proved its ease of mobility in
being towed to Lake Barré By 1935, Texaco had built and deployed a fleet of seven such barges along
the Louisiana coast, each drilling 6 wells per year. By 1938, the industry had drilled 3,300 wells in
parishes adjacent to the Gulf, 700 of which were surrounded by water. The most active areas were in

  • 2. Theme Of Altruism In Good To A Fault ISU Response 1 The novel Good to a Fault by Marina Endicott, primarily revolves around the theme of altruism. The novel begins with Clara who gets into a car accident with another family who happens to already be dealing with many other conflicts. After the accident occurred, the mother of the victim s household was admitted to the hospital and found out that she had cancer. It appears that the family were financially unstable and that they were living in their vehicle moving from town to town, which met with an accident. As a result of guilt and pure kindness, Clara takes in the kids and their grandmother to their home. On the outside this seems like a kind, selfless act, but in her thoughts the readers understand that she sometimes does not believe that being so generous to others that she barely knows is good. The text so far and the overall theme of altruism made me question points in relation to my inquiry topic: To what extent does literature have the ability to oversimplify reality? The author writes primarily in third person, but also writes from each person s perspective through dialogue. The fact that the author chose to include Clara s thoughts in addition to her actions, really enhanced my understanding of Clara s personality. At first, Clara seemed like a kind individual helping others from the goodness of her heart, but as I progressed into the novel I realized that she feels that being kind is only solution and is pressured by it. From the first glimpse of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Theory Of Child Development In the early 19th Century, little attention was given to children development. Emphasis were based upon what a child would become as they get older( Green 2013)However, it was investigated by human developmental psychologist that Child development is relevant in relation to how individuals relate in the environment as well as the factors that influence human development. These psychologists developed the human developmental life span which is predominant in the society today, although remains unsubstantiated because of the dynamics of individuals and the environment. The theories that will be discussed mainly in this essay are;Cognitive theory Jean Piaget, Social Learning Theory Albert Bandura, Psycho social theory Erik Erikson ,Socio cultural theories Lev Vygotsky. The Psychoanalytic theory will be explored to reflect on how his theories have been integrated into other human developmental theories. Based on my observations, these theories will be explored in detail. This essay will discuss the relevant theories in relation to my subject,a 5 year old child, named Sandra for purposes of this essay. The observation of this child will be explored in areas of Language development, cognitive behaviour, and social learning. Attachment theories and cultural theory will be discussed briefly. Lab Report On Red Cabbage Indicator Red Cabbage Indicator Experiment Aim: The aim of our investigation was to identify and understand how different chemicals (Acids, alkalis and neutral) react and experience a change in colour due of this. Introduction: The red cabbage indicator shows how a usual household product such as red cabbage can make a suitable indicator and be able find out if a chemical is either and acid, alkali or neutral. Acids are a chemical that reacts with an alkali neutralising it producing water and a salt. Acids are also commonly found to be sour tasting. Acids react with metals, releasing hydrogen gas and leaving behind a salt they also can conduct electricity. Acids also readily give off hydrogen ions and have a pH level lower than 7. Some more common laboratory acids are Hydrochloric, Sulphuric and Nitric Acids. Sulphuric acids and water are used in car batteries as the electrolyte. Bases or alkali are a chemical that will react with acids and usually have a slimy or soapy feeling on contact with skin. Bases readily accept hydrogen ions and has a pH level that is higher the 7. Bases have a bitter taste and neutralise d by acids, producing water and a salt. Some common laboratory bases are Sodium Hydroxide, Potassium Hydroxide and Calcium Hydroxide. Stronger bases are commonly used today in many cleaning products. Indicators help us find wether if a chemical is an acid or base. • 8. The Three Branches Of The Government The Three Branches of the Government The Government has three branches for law making. When a law is being created, it starts at the Legislative, and then gets passed to the Executive branch, then to the Judicial branch. Each branch has their own area of the law that they look at. In the end, it is decided if the law will be issued to the people. When the law is being created, it starts at the Legislative branch. In the branch, Congress is made up of two houses, the Senate and the House of Representatives. In Senate, there are 100 senators, making it two senators from each state. Once elected, they will serve a six year term in Senate. The Vice President is known as the head of Senate, but is only involved in the voting when there is a tie. They also approve the recommendations made by the President to the Cabinet, the Supreme Court, federal courts, and other posts. All the Senate must ratify all of the treaties by a two third vote. In the House of Representatives, there are 435 representatives. Each state has a certain number of representatives depending on the population. An example of this would be New York and Rhode Island. New York would have more representatives because the population is much bigger in the busy state then Rhode Island s would be. This is decided by the yearly Census. If it shifts, a representative could be added or subtracted. The representatives elected, will serve a two year term. They also elect the Speaker of the House, who is the head. . The ... This difference in a specific company s value may be due to a multitude of reasons. In this case, the foreign buyer will only value the brand but not the plant, machinery, etc. as it has more advanced assets of its own. My patchwork history provides me with a basis for connecting with people of all stripes. Growing up in a Navy family, I have moved around the country extensively. With such a background, it is not hard to find similarities with people I meet or quickly learn their customs and methods of communicating. And with such a transient youth, obtaining that skillset was a matter of self preservation. Based on my research, it is important for lawyers to quickly understand different perspectives and motivations of clients and opponents. • 12. The Hard Determinist Does Not Exist People who believe that we have no free will, that there is no free actions are known as a hard determinists. In other words, hard determinism is the doctrine that there are no free actions. To them, everything is casually determined and no one acts freely. The hard determinist does not deny that it seems that we have free will. What they deny is that the way things seems is the way they are. Nothing could ever be any other way than the way it is. Choices do not exist, free will does not exist, and randomness does not exist. What happens depends entirely on the previous arrangements of its cause and could not be otherwise. Hard determinist argue that all human actions are casually determined and therefore we act freely and cannot be held morally responsible for our actions. As an example Bob and Tom are stuck in a room. In one hand, Bob has chocolate cake and in the other hand, he has an apple, Bob is offering him one. Tom was given a choice to either choose the chocolate cake or the apple and he chose the chocolate cakes. To Tom, in his mind, he would say that he chose the chocolate cake on his own free will. If he wanted to, he could have chosen the apple, nothing forced him to pick the chocolate cake, he chose it because he wanted it, and he was free to choose either. A hard determinist would say that his past events made him chose the chocolate cake. Maybe as a child, he was given the sweet sugary treat more often the healthy fresh apple and because of that reason, he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Control processes that should be implemented Cybernetic control system Is defined as a self regulating system in which standards of performance are determined, once operating can automatically monitor the situation and take corrective action. (Management Pacific Rim focus Bartol, Tein, Matthews, Martin 4 th edition). The cybernetic model of control is associated with delivering efficiency in mechanistic organizations (Brownell 1987) that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bureaucratic control hinders innovation and inhibits rapid change. For this reason bureaucratic control should be combined with clan control. Clan control According to Bartol et al clan control uses values, beliefs, traditions, corporate culture, shared norms and informal relationships to regulate employee behavior and facilitate reaching of company goals. Clan control builds commitment to organizational objectives by making employees willing to face change. This replaces bureaucratic control s emphasis on rules and regulation. For this reason clan control is needed with firms such as this with routine jobs. So in future changes can be made such carrying different stock or more flexible duties for everyone. This will also reduce labor costs as a person can do more then one task. Since there is increased emphasis on clan control, the plant firm can improve productivity and reduce costs. ASSESING CONTROL SYSTEMS To make sure controls are facilitating change and innovation and improvement in the business control systems need to be monitored to ensure they get expected results if problems such as the following are present the control system will need to be looked at carefully. Negative attitudes Implementing of controls can lead to negative attitudes if controls don t meet the business requirements or are poorly designed (Greenberg and Strasser 1986).

  • 16. The Search For Justice In Ian Mcewan s Atonement The pictures painted in one s head may seem harmless or even helpful to that single individual; however, once those pictures are introduced to the real world they can take a drastic turn. What might seem right to one could have consequences that harm those around him or her, causing chaos and destruction. Individuals are blinded by what they believe in and many fail to stop and think about how their actions will affect those closest to them. Briony Tallis is a prime example of this; she wants justice to be served for a story that is made up in her head and she does not realize the toll it will take on those around her. In Ian McEwan s Atonement, Briony s wandering imagination leads her to seek a fictional justice that causes people around her to suffer while the truth remains hidden; although she later tries to amend her wrongdoings, the damage has already been done and she is unsuccessful. During her search for justice, Briony s imagination and need to create stories strongly obscures her idea of what a rightful justice is. She [is] one of those children possessed by a desire to have the world just so (McEwan 4). Everything she experiences is automatically turned into an event from a story, thus causing her mind to focus on what would go along with the story rather than what is actually happening in the real world. This is partially because she is only 13, making her too young to understand the consequences of paying too much attention to the artificial world rather than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. The Salmon Fisheries In my hometown, a local diner serves Honey dipped Salmon. They claim that the dish is prepared using a species of Salmon, called Chinook, which is a product of the Alaska Salmon fisheries. Since Chinook salmon is an anadromous specie, it is born in the fresh water, migrates to the ocean for 1 5 years and then returns to the Main channel Rivers to spawn. The female lays around 3,000 14,000 eggs that are successfully fertilized by the males, however the eggs are very brittle and can be easily destroyed. Fortunately, enough hatch and survive in Alaska to ensure healthy stocks. After spawning, they typically die as they don t feed on anything during their widespread migration and use up all the stored body fat for survival. ( CSSP , n.d.). She is captivated by the way the bee interacts with the tree and identifies it as an ideally harmonious relationship. Janie is stirred tremendously by the tree because it intoxicates her with the beautiful interactions of nature (10). It is safer for the environment and is a cleaner version of diesel. It is made from soybeans and other vegetation. It is made with a process called transesterification it seperates glycerin from fat or oil and then methyl esters and glycerin is what is left over and used for the fuel. Biodiesel had its origins with the invention of the diesel engine, as the diesel engine was designed to run on Biodiesel. Rudolf Diesel was the inventor of the Diesel engine. Biodiesel on a wider scale can turn crops into cash crops and reduce the amount of crops for food. Most diesel engines can run off of biodiesel which means a lot of vehicles wont have to be altered to use biodiesel instead of petroleum based diesel fuel. FBI UCR for Georgia When I checked my state, which is GA and compared what I have been told by some of my associates from the Augusta, Georgia Richmond Country Sheriff department it was what I expected, which was that crime rates were going down. My interpretation of the poem is that the girl is basically crying out for help saying look I am healthy, intelligent, and strong but no one sees or cares about those things because the only thing they see when they look at her is her outside appearance and what society considers to be the flaws that she possesses. Although this was written in 1936 Piercy accurately describes the feeling of being defined or constricted by society to think, act, and look a particular way which is similar to that of todays society which is fueled by social media, where some find personal gratification and self confidence fueled from likes and retweets they receive. Barbie doll is the perfect title for this poem because for the longest time a Barbie was a sign of something perfect and beautiful, a toy enjoyed by everyone and a conventional symbol for little girls all over the United States. It tells the story of the heroic acts in the life of our protagonist, Beowulf. It takes place in Scandinavia (Denmark and Sweden precisely), around 500 A.D. Beowulf is a hero of the Geats who arrives in Denmark from Geatland to help the king of the Danes, Hrothgar. Hrothgar enjoyed a successful and prosperous reign: he built a great mead hall, called Heorot, which mere purpose was to serve as a place where warriors could gather to drink, tell stories and enjoy the songs of the scops or bards. But, these gatherings were quite loud and jubilant, and they had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The definition of a hero implied facing the impossible with only courage and strength, and even if that resulted in his death, he would consider it a most honourable way to die. After he wins the fight against Grendel, he has the option to stay back while Grendel s mother tries to avenge him. But Beowulf was a great warrior, and he knew that if Grendel s mother wanted someone to pay for her son s death, it must be him, the one who killed Grendel in the first place. However, he doesn t go to her lake just to let her have her revenge; he is determined to free Denmark from the horrifying monsters: first Grendel, and now his mother. Another key factor in his decision is the fact that Grendel s mother kills Aeschere, a man of Hrothgar s. But this is not all of Beowulf s greatness as a hero. He was a loyal warrior, never betraying or letting down his lord, Hygelac. Even after Hygelac s death, he showed loyalty and respect to both his king and the throne, and supported the son of Hygelac in becoming the new king of the Geats. However, after a while, Hygelac s son died, and Beowulf became the new king. His reign brought peace and prosperity to Geatland, and this lasted for fifty years, until one day, a dragon was awoken and threatened to burn down the country. Even though he was not the same young and strong warrior anymore, Beowulf was still brave. This shows another phase of Beowulf s life: in his youth, he was a warrior ... It is the process where shipping avoids the retailers, meaning the retailer isn t informed to hold any type of inventory for the customers, and instead, the products are directly delivered to the end customers from the manufacturers. In this network, the supply chain can divert and expand low level of inventory to a higher level of availability. It also gives an opportunity for manufacturers to reschedule the customization when necessary. This is excellent for sellers that are able to build to order, and for end customers who wants highly differentiated products that are in low demand but are highly valued and are willing to wait for delivery. 10. • 43. A Brief Look at Agamemnon Aeschylus first portrays the blood feud as an unending cycle of bloodshed. However, in his play The Agamemnon, he shapes the idea of law replacing the blood feud through Agamemnon s sacrifice of Iphigenia, Clytemnestra s murder of her husband, and Orestes potential matricide to avenge his father s death. This vendetta establishes the conditions necessary for the replacement of the blood feud with law and justice. The blood feud began in the early generations of the House of Atreus, which was cursed with pride and violence. The prophetess, Cassandra, described the blood filled palace at Argos as an abominable place, full of guilty secrets . . . yea, of unnatural murderers . . . aye, truly, a place of human sacrifice, sprinkled with blood of babes (Aeschylus 37). After many horrific crimes in the House of Atreus, there seemed to be an end to the blood feud, but it was only a pause. Agamemnon reignited the blood feud by sacrificing Iphigenia, which began the events shaping the transition of the blood feud into law. The Chorus warned about a later event saying, For patient, terrible, never to be laid, is the wrath of the wife still plotting at home revenge for the unforgotten child (19). Because of the reignited blood feud, the sacrifice of Iphigenia leads to the shedding of Agamemnon s blood by the hands of Clytemnestra, further shaping the replacement of the blood feud. One important reason was that their style of music was like nothing else people would have heard on the radio. A lot of the music on the radio was either pop or blues. The Beatles were heavily inspired by American pop and blues acts such as Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Carl Perkins, and Elvis Presley. They combined aspects of both genres to make very radio friendly music that was still unique to the American public. Their appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show along with a largely promoted tour of the United States also helped launch them into superstardom in America.
