Buddhism and No-Self Essay
Eastern enlightenment religions have been gaining popularity throughout the western world for the
past few decades, with many people attracted to a different way of experiencing religion. As with
many other enlightenment religions, Buddhism requires disciples to understand concepts that are not
readily explainable: one such concept is that of no self. In this essay I shall discuss the no self from a
number of modern perspectives; however, as no self is difficult to describe I shall focus on both the
self and no self. Beginning with psychological aspects, and neurophysiological research on
transcendental meditation, I shall discuss the impact of modern brain science on our understanding of
the self and transcendence. Next I will outline ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Modern psychology attempts to scientifically explain many aspects of our lives. Yet it seems that
when psychology meets religion the result is rarely a fair compromise. As an example, if faced with a
person claiming to have no sense of self a psychologist may suspect some form of dissociative
disorder. An excellent modern example of spiritualism clashing with psychological diagnoses is that of
the much maligned Aleister Crowley; after years of searching for his own samyaksambodhi he entered
into a period of silence and claimed enlightenment – the psychological description of Crowley is that
of a paranoid schizophrenic who declined into catatonia. I simply wonder where the line is that divides
the religious experience from the psychopathological.
Neurophysiologists have shown interest in that state of no self that Buddhist monks can reach while in
prayer. It has been found, using a specialized brain imaging technique based on CT scanning, that the
brain state of Buddhist monks in deep meditation is radically different from that of the average waking
person (Newberg et al., 2001). In fact, during meditation the body changes its physiological ‘state to
a more beneficial pattern (Weiten, 2005, p. 145). This is not to say that Buddhism is the path – similar
brain patterns have also been found in Franciscan Nuns deep in prayer. Interesting work has also been
done researching the effect of electromagnetic interference on brain function. Researchers

Benefits Of High Intensity Power Training
In today s society, the overall trend and goal is to become fit and to reduce common
health risks such as obesity and diabetes. Many new programs have been developed to provide
people with the resources and community to achieve their goal of fitness. CrossFit is an example
of a recent exercise trend that have been exploding in popularity. CrossFit is a program created
by Greg Glassman and Lauren Jenai in 1996 but was not established until 2000. The original
CrossFit gym was brought up in Santa Cruz, California. Despite positive ratings, the CrossFit
program has been investigated for elevated risk of injuries and health. CrossFit gained popularity
across the world as a competitive fitness sport that promote a carried and high intensity workout
regimen incorporating elements of weightlifting, high intensity interval training, and gymnastics
(Lu et al.,2015). This program is practiced for weight loss, improvement of health related risks,
and improvement of body composition.
Some researchers proposed that high intensity power training that are CrossFit based can
improve maximal aerobic fitness and body composition of a person. Smith, Sommer, Starkoff,
and Devor (2013) designed a 10 week CrossFit program that consists of high intensity interval
training for their subjects. They studied 54 individuals that varied in fitness level and gender, but
only 43 (23 men, 20 women) completed the training. The researchers found that the program

Internal And External Conflict In Shakespeare s Hamlet
In the play Hamlet, William Shakespeare projects society during his time period onto the major
conflicts of the characters. The play provides an array of internal and external conflicts reflected in the
characters and the storyline. Shakespeare illustrates the internal and external conflicts within the
characters through the use of motif and literary devices such as soliloquy. The conflicts observed from
the plot and characters mimic the religious and political attitudes during Shakespeare s era.
Throughout Hamlet, Shakespeare depicts the internal conflicts within the characters through the use of
soliloquy. Shakespeare mastered the use of soliloquy in this work by conveying and portraying the
contradictions in the mental processes of Hamlet and Claudius. The author s use of soliloquies
illustrates the internal conflict within Hamlet and further emphasizes the common themes revolving
around revenge and doubt. In Act 3: Scene 3, Shakespeare incorporates a soliloquy where Hamlet s
internal conflict of doubt and revenge is evident: Now might I do it pat. Now he is a praying. And now
I ll do t. And so he goes to heaven. And so am I revenged. That would be scanned (Puchner 711).
Hamlet attempts to kill Claudius while he is vulnerable, however, he hesitates and ponders with the
contradictions of religion. Shakespeare illustrates the contradiction of the desire for revenge and the
hesitation for revenge. He draws in religion by bringing focus to sin and the afterlife. Hamlet s

Lab Report On Plant Cell Walls
Introduction:
Plant cell walls are composed of: Pectin matrices, cellulose microfibrils and branches of
hemicellulose. Cell walls give plant cells their rigid oblong shape (in morphogenesis) and its strength
aids the plant cell s maintenance of osmotic stability preventing lysis and crenation when exposed to
hypertonic or hypotonic environments respectively. The apoplast pathway in the cell wall is also
completely permeable to ions and small particles while preventing the entry of toxic macromolecules.
Second to cell walls, plant cell membranes contain a variety of different lipids (made of fatty acids),
proteins and carbohydrates. The two molecule thick layered structure of membranes is made of a

In fig.1, the absorbance values of the resultant beetroot solutions show a clear increase with increasing
temperature, this is gradual from 23°C to 60°C, but this steeply increases until 70°C which was the
last data point. Extrapolation may show an exponential increase, until all the red pigment has been
liberated from all of the beetroot cells, and the trend line would thus plateau horizontally.
In fig.2, the absorbance readings of H2O and chloroform are relatively very small almost negligible,
IMS has the second highest reading and Rapid freezing did the most damage to the beetroot cells
membranes with a very high absorbance reading. This was so high that it couldn t be detected by the
monochromatic light from the spectrophotometer dilutions were made as a result and the absorbance
was multiplied to its true value.
Discussion:
The monochromatic light of the spectrophotometer was set to a value of 540nm (the green region of
the visual spectrum). This is essential because the betacyanin pigments present in the vacuoles of
beetroot cells are what give the vegetable its distinctive red colour (light transmitted), so the
compromise green wavelength is absorbed in the greatest

The Reconstruction Era Was A Success
The Reconstruction Era was a Success Shortly after the Civil War ended in 1867, President Abraham
Lincoln s new objective was to unify the union and the confederate states into what was formerly
known as the United States of America. This time period is known as the Reconstruction Era, starting
with the surrender of Robert E. Lee at Appomattox Court House in 1865 and ending with the
implementation of the Compromise of 1877. The Reconstruction Era was a time period full of
political, economic, and social changes, some being temporary and some lasting to modern time.
Many modern ideas about freedom and political equality come from the positive results of
reconstruction. Reconstruction however did not successfully solve the problem of social inequality
between African Americans and White Southerners, but the goal of reconstruction was not to promote
social equality, it was to unify the union, which was accomplished. So, the Reconstruction Era was not
a failure, if anything, it was successful because it granted rights to African Americans that they never
had before, it started programs such as the Freedmen s Bureau to assist former slaves and poor whites
with education, and it met the goal of unification. Prior to the Reconstruction Era, African Americans
had extremely little rights in society and politics. However, the Reconstruction Era granted several
rights to African Americans that are still a part of The United States Constitution today. The Thirteenth

However, using qualitative methods to examine the research problem involves two activities:
developing an awareness of the types of data can be described and explained; and also the practical
activities that assist with the kinds of data and the large amounts of it that needs to be examined
(Gibbs, 2007). However, this paper will explore the examination of the research problem using a

This leads to employees quitting from the job. Another source of conflict exists between employees;
arguments and competition for promotion, position and performance being the causes. Employees
resigning from jobs in large numbers could lead to lower productivity and bad organizational
reputation in most situations. Conflicts are critical part of human relationship; many organizations
have devised methods to resolve them in a manner that maintains cohesion, economic stability in
order to minimize negative outcomes which are certain for employees unless the conflicts between
them and management are successfully managed through resolutions. With this in mind, it is worth
noting that employees and management of various organizations have stressed the need for fast
decisions that will encourage or support good personal relationship among people. Conflict varies and
come in different forms. In the organizational setting, it comes through job retention or desires to be
met, employer/employee disagreements and settlement, confidentiality reports and information
sharing; all these leads to change in feeling and attitude. However, there are conflict management
challenges facing many organizations in Nigeria. It is phenomenal, but can be controlled or managed.
Notably, there seems to be growing importance of the conflict in various organizations. Olu

Edward Kennedy Ellington Research Paper
Great American Composers
Over the course of history, the arts have played an important role in aspects of people s lives. More
specifically, music is something that has been around for centuries and will continue to play a part in
shaping people into who they are. There have been numerous talented composers in America, but
some worth mentioning are Duke Ellington, George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin.
Though music has been around for generations, during the 1900 s, Duke Ellington was a famous
composer in the Americas. Edward Kennedy Ellington was born on April 29, 1899 in Washington
D.C. to a religious family; his mother was a Baptist and his father was a Methodist ( Duke, n.d.).
Ellington had a passion for piano during his childhood; he had started taking piano at the age of seven

He also won numerous Grammy Awards as well as the Spingarn Medal from the National Association
for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). Ellington continued to compose and perform
music until he died from lung cancer in May of 1974. He will always be remembered for the daring
innovations that came to mark his music the strange modulations (changing from one key to another)
built upon lush melodies that ramble into unexpected places, the unorthodox (untraditional)
construction of songs.... ( Duke, n.d.).
Not only was Duke Ellington well known for his involvement in jazz during the 1900 s, George
Gershwin was also popular during that time. Gershwin was born in Brooklyn in 1898 to a family of
immigrants. He left school at the age of 15 in order to work as a song plugger (a pianist that
demonstrated songs) on Tin Pan Alley (Hingley, 2013). He soon began to write his own pieces, and his
first published song was When You Want Em, You Can t Get Em ; although this song was composed
of new techniques, he only received five dollars ( George,

Analysis Of Mordecai Richler s The
Response Barney s Version Excerpt
In this excerpt, Mordecai Richler does an excellent job mixing both showing and telling. He is able to
skim over large periods of time without leaving the reader with questions, and gives just enough detail
that the audience is able to understand past events. Richler gives a great amount of detail about one
particular incident that enhances the essence of the event and contrasts with the last few sentences.
The small conversation that Richler added gives the reader a greater respect for what Leo
accomplished, and by contrast, demonstrates the great misjudgement the narrator made. Overall,
Richler does an excellent job of balancing showing and telling, and does so in an effective manner that
helps the audience gain insight into the situation through the use of contrast.

citizens and better their country (Life of John F. Kennedy). He believed in ending racial discrimination
and creating peace within the world. John F. Kennedy should be added to Mount Rushmore because of
all he did to expand the United States. John F. Kennedy was born in Brookline, Massachusetts on May

left the navy, Kennedy was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for leadership and courage

Marriage In Islam And The Basics Of Marriage And Islamic...
What is Talaq?
Stable union of the couple is a fundamental condition for a cheerful family life. Islam subsequently,
demanded to have great understanding between the partners to enjoy a successful married life with no
or less chances of breaking down or separation (divorce). Furthermore Islam preaches its followers to
be at bay when it comes to divorce.
At first no marriage is contracted to be disintegrated however in awful conditions the marital contract
is broken. One of the methods for such disintegration is by method for separation. Under Muslim law
the separation may happen by the demonstration of the two parties hat is Husband and wife
themselves or by an announcement of the courtroom. However in whatever way the separation is
affected it has never been regarded good in Islam and not considered as rule for life. In Islam,
separation is considered as a special case to the status of marriage.
Divorce is considered as Evil and one must take extreme precautions to stay away from it as much as
possible. But in a certain instances this abhorrence turns into a need, since when it is impossible for
both Husband and Wife to bear on their union with common understanding and love then it is
smoother to enable them to get isolated than urge them to live respectively in an environment of
disdain and estrangement.
The basics of divorce in Islamic law are the inability to continue their life together respectfully likes

The Newly Developed Multinational Personnel Selection System
Question 1: What strengths and what shortcomings do you see in the newly developed multinational
personnel selection system? The company recognizes that there are problems in the existing personnel
selections, so they delegated the committee to address the problem. The new selection shows promise
as it improves the the old selection process. Some of the strengths include: 6 eye method : This 6 eye
method is the newly developed process where three people will be analyzing the qualifications and
suitability of the applicants. Compared with the old assessment conducted by external consulting
firms, this ensure reliability and credibility as the firm can find candidates that they are actually
looking for. This preliminary selection allows the recruiters to focus more on the knowledge, skills,
abilities, and others (KSAOs) of the applicants. As people have different judgments and opinions, this
provides a just screening of the candidates without any biases or prejudices involved. Although time
consuming and costly, this process ensures that all potential and promising candidates will have higher
chance of being selected. Phone interviews: This method has been proven to be very cooperative and
beneficial to many recruiters. Since this is considered as the first direct contact with the applicant
without incurring any travel expenses. In addition, the phone call can encourage the applicant to listen
to a question and respond it in their respective time and manner.

The Qualities And Traits Of Leaders Essay
2 The qualities and traits of leaders
A number of leadership traits almost come directly from within. These are the qualities that might be
harder to train, but which make leading other people smoother.
Committed
A good leader has to show commitment. Fulfilling your vision won t happen overnight and you need
to be able to convince everyone else that you won t disappear when things get tough. If you make a
promise, you need to keep it. You can t just preach about achieving A, B and C, but you need to show
that you are actually going to do it.
Commitment matters for two reasons. First, when you show commitment you help build trust. The
team and anyone involved with the project will be able to trust your word. Trust will keep work
morale up and help you achieve objectives faster since people don t need to second guess what your
objectives are. But furthermore, the second aspect of commitment is about setting an example. As
mentioned throughout the article, leadership is about setting an example and if you show commitment
to your word, your subordinates will be inspired to stick to their promises. Using your own example of
hard work, you will ensure the people around you feel motivated to do the same thing.
Passionate
Passion should be at the heart of everything you do. It doesn t matter whether you are a leader of a
multibillion company or a lumberjack, without passion, you won t achieve success. You can
understand its importance when you view it as the fuel to your truck.

The Impact Of Eigenvalues On The Electron Phonon Coupling...
IMPACT OF EIGENVALUES ON THE ELECTRON PHONON COUPLING STRENGTH OF
INDIUM AND ITS BINARY ALLOYS
S. K. Chakrabarti
Department of Physics
Tribhuvan University, MMAM Campus, Biratnagar, Nepal ABSTRACT
Indium is a trivalent metal. Though chemically not so reactive, it often forms complexes within its
binary alloys. In this theoretical work we have studied the impact of eigenvalues on the electron
phonon coupling strength of indium. We have also dealt with the same for two binary alloys of it viz.
indium magnesium and indium zinc. First of all we have computed the non local screened form factor
for each of them. For this purpose initially the orthogonalised plane wave parameter is considered as
unity. Thereafter Vashishta Singwi form of exchange and correlation are employed. For indium the
Clementi eigenvalues being not available, the experimental energy values have been taken besides the
Herman Skillman core energy eigenvalues. Our results are quite satisfactory for the metal. For the
alloys our results lie within the range of values as obtained by other researchers. Our computation
reveals that the superconducting state parameter can be reasonably reproduced by Harrison s first
principle pseudopotential technique along with McMillan s formalism provided a proper choice of the
core energy eigenvalues is made.
Key words: Superconducting state parameter, Orthogonalised plane wave parameter, Core energy
eigenvalue, Non local screened form factor, Harrison s first principle

Young readers around the world could relate to many of the themes and issues in the novel. Today The
Catcher in the Rye has sold over 60 million copies and continues to sell around a quarter million each

his novel pushed Salinger to long for privacy. He refused as many interviews as possible and even had
his photo removed from the back covers of each book. To escape the public eye he fled to England for
two months. In 1953, only two years after the release of The Catcher in the Rye, Salinger packed his
things and moved to a 90 acre property in Cornish, New Hampshire. His new home had no running
water, electricity, or working telephone. During this time he did everything in his power to isolate
himself from the public and his literary output came to an abrupt halt. In a rare 1962 interview with

For the participants in this study, eleven healthy dental students were recruited from the Ohio State
College of Dentistry. They had the basic knowledge about handling the wounds. Since the effect of
healing oral wounds were controlled by the participants, it was better to have the knowledge of this
area to avoid affecting the effect of healing wounds by individual differences. Also, they were
instructed not to use rinses or other special home care other than normal oral hygiene. For the ethical
issues, the Ohio State Biomedical Research Review Committee approved the project. All the students
gave written informed consent before participation. This complies with ethical rules that research
works that involve human subjects and animals should be carried out in accordance with high ethical
standards set by various ethics committee.
For controlling the confounding variables, all the participants were healthy dental students and were

I chose to tackle some of the questions and concepts that I did not quite understand to try to gain

3. By what logic is filial piety the most important virtue for an emperor to possess?
The Canon of Yao from the Book of Tang is a reference to the sage King Yao. In his search for a
successor Yao s minister spoke of Shun of Yu and how his respectful, filial, approach towards his
parents helped them to a path of harmony and self control. This brought King Yao s attention to Shun.

How Graphic Design Has Had On Popular Culture And Consumerism
In this summative essay I would like to explore and analyse the influence that Graphic design has had
on popular culture and consumerism. Graphic design can be defined as the art and practice of planning
and projecting ideas and experiences with visual and textual content. The form of the communication
can be physical or virtual, and may include images, words, or graphic forms. (aiga.org) Designers are
problem solvers and it is their job to come up with a suitable solution to a problem. They have to find
the best suitable means to communicate a particular message. Graphic Designers are at the forefront of
advertising and the battle of selling giving the designer even greater responsibility, because of this
graphic designers play a big role in consumerism. Consumerism, as a social and economic order and
ideology encourages the acquisition of goods and services in ever greater amounts. (wikipedia.org)
Society have been gradually made to believe that they can increase their happiness through buying and
spending. Consumerism is an international problem, but has existed for many years, people
purchasing goods that exceeded those of their basic needs dates way back to the first civilisations, in
the eras of ancient Egypt and Rome. A turn in consumerism arrived just before the industrial
revolution, people worked long hours and earned low wages, so they didn t have the time or the
disposable income for excess spending. The industrial revolution welcomed the use of assembly

Pediatric Emergency Medicine Personal Statement
Eighteen years it took me to become a pediatric emergency medicine specialist. As my journey in
academics started, I faced the challenge and responsibility of being a single parent. Seeking
opportunities to learn about economics and finance, I did what came naturally to me, which was study.
Eighteen months of doing the unthinkable : working full time, studying full time, and raising a six
year old, was the most exhausting and yet the most inspiring time of my life. Travelling to Asia to
write a thesis comparing the Japanese and American health insurance industry, added a global flavor
to my knowledge of medicine.
Fueled by an interest in research, I received a scholarship for Ph.D. studies after medical school. Life
events interrupted this journey, making it necessary to move from cities, and even countries. I made an
unthinkable move to Australia, right after being promoted at the university. Each change has required
patience and persistence, forcing me to look beyond hurdles and seek opportunities for growth. As a
foreign medical graduate, in two countries, I have had to prove my skill as a physician and my
specialist fellowships in both the U.S. and Australia substantiates this. Through every stage of my
training and academic career, I have sought out opportunities to further my understanding of the
science behind the practice of medicine. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Preface
The assignment for this week was to write a paper based on the case Global Wine War 2009: New
World versus Old. We experienced that it was an interesting case considering both Porter s five forces
model and Resource Based theory, because they give two different perspectives of competitive
advantage: Outside in and Inside out. Besides that we could have a closer look at innovations and
what they mean for the competitiveness in the world wine market. In this paper we make an effort in

For example, the Appellation d Origin ControllĂŠe (AOC) law in France. Italy followed France and also
introduced laws and regulations. Producers supported these laws and regulations, they saw this as an
opportunity to differentiate their wine and raising the entry barriers. In a later stage other regions in
France were given the, usual lower ranked Vin DelimitĂŠs de Qualite Superieure (VDQS) and the, even
lower ranked Vin de Pays, inexpensive but very drinkable wines for French tables and increasingly for
exports. Although this movement was quite rigid, due to a belief that quality was linked to terroir.
A New World was born
In the last quarter of the 19th century, the phylloxera from the new world caused the devastation of the
French vine stock which led to an enormous decrease of wine supply, while demand stayed at the
same level. The French solved this problem by importing vine roots from the US that were resistant
for the phylloxera .
At this point, the New World outperformed the Old World. Compared to the Old World, the New
World had several advantages. First, suitable land was widely available and less expensive. Second,
the New World began to experiment with wine technologies which led to great innovations in the wine
industry. Because of these innovations, the costs of producing a tonne of wine in the New World
decreased drastically compared to the Old World. The third advantage of the New World occurred in
the distribution. The New World wine companies

Self Esteem And Self Diversity
Community is a congregation of human beings where they share the same symbols and experiences as
well as language (Grady, 1994). Individuals, objects and spaces are all tied into one by the community.
Community does not depend on a certain location or area, it depends on the unity of the individuals
who live there (Grady, 1994). The community provides familiarity with daily interactions among
individuals and creates a sense of belonging. A sense of belonging in a community provides the
comfort and safety required to discover and utilize one s gifts (Grady, 1994). The foundation of self
esteem and self acceptance starts with a sense of belonging in the community (Grady, 1994). When an
individual has a sense of belonging within the community, they feel included. Inclusion is allowing all
individuals to participate in natural environments regarding their differences (Grady, 1994). Feeling
included in the community is important, especially to those who have a disability. The health
profession, occupational therapy, strives for inclusion in the community for people who have
disabilities and those who do not. The sense of belonging is important to an individual s self esteem,
specifically those who have a disability, and is used in the health field of occupational therapy.
The community creates a numerous amount of opportunities for an individual to be included in its
rituals and traditions. Therefore, inclusion into the community is very significant for an individual s

A Patchwork Planet Character Analysis
We assume that our family members care about each other and wants nothing but the best for us,
because they are the closes people in our lives. In some cases, this is not always true. Simply because
they share the same blood, does not mean they are necessarily in your camp. In the novel, A
Patchwork Planet, through Barnaby s relationship with his family, with the members of Rent A Back

manifest their care through action.
Ever since Barnaby was born, his family makes it clear that they are ashamed of him. Primarily,
Margot always looks down upon him. Even since his day of birth, because he was born late*. Also, the
fact that his parents send him away to Renascence where he is isolated from his family for twelve
months a year, indicates that Barnaby s parents do not have his wellbeing at heart (86). The result of
Barnaby s isolation affects his mindset, in other words, he is always indecisive because he allows his
family s judgments of him affect his own opinion. Moreover, during Barnaby s 30th birthday

Saint Albans Road and Kipling Avenue. The end of the 45 Kipling route is located at Steeles Avenue
West and Kipling Avenue. The 45 Kipling route passes through many neighborhoods as well as
different areas that serve different uses. The first and most noticeable of which is the suburban
residential area the route begins at. In this area, there is a number of different types of housing
including older single detached dwellings, duplexes, triplexes, townhouses, and modern single
detached homes. The area also consists of churches and schools, but mostly consists of housing. The
majority of the area is suburban and hardly resembles a typical residential neighbourhood within the
city of Toronto. It seems to have more in common with a suburb such as Vaughan. It is not until the
route reaches Kipling Avenue and Dixon Road where it starts to feel more like Toronto, with high rise
buildings and retail stores rather than a residential suburb.

Choosing Life Over Death, Kindness Over Killing Essay
Choosing life over death, kindness over killing. It s simple really. Practice what you preach. However,
to most it is viewed as extreme, somewhat ridiculous? What I believe is extreme is consuming
decomposing flesh and pretending to embrace peace while we make violence, suffering, torture and
death a daily part of our lives. Eating fruits and veggies... extreme? Not so much. I believe it comes
down to compassion. The basic concept that most people have been taught since birth. As Arthur
Schopenhauer says compassion is the basis of morality . In its simplest form it is just kindness, at the
least respect. Yet all day we make choices that define us, our beliefs and morals, who we are what we
support and whether or not we realise the enormity of these decisions, they all have ethical
implications for which we are accountable. My decision is veganism. In recent times the popularity of
veganism has risen greatly, but so has the negative views surrounding it. In the articles Do animal
lovers need to be vegan? (Telegraph UK, Peter Wedderburn, 11 Aug 2015) and Meat is more than just
dead animals (Peter Schaller, Feb 14, 2015), the concept of veganism is discussed in regards to
compassion. In this article I will discuss the three reasons why I believe true kindness and compassion
means omitting all animal products from your life.

The Aspect Of Language Development
Introduction
Nowadays, with continuous enhancement of economy and culture globalization, bilingual or
multilingual speakers are increasing all around world. In United States, one out of five elementary
school students speak another language other than English at home. Although some parents prefer
their children exposed to monolingual environment, the mainstream trend is more and more children
in America speak one language at home but another language at school, or use both first and second
language at school. Bilingual education becomes more and more important for bilingual children
growing up in target language environment. Commonly, children learn second language through two
different sequences, one is simultaneous acquisition, and another is sequential acquisition. Which
means they can choose to learn two languages at same time, or study second language after first
language is well mastered. But for babies or toddlers under three years old, they seem to receive
language passively; lots of people wonder how could these toddlers develop two languages and how
could parents or bilingual educators guide them effectively. This paper aims to review literature on the
aspect of language development of Bilingual toddlers; the theory results would contribute to
effectively develop one to three years old bilingual toddlers language acquisition.

Middle age and Renaissance
Introduction
The Renaissance started after the plague in the fourteenth and fifteenth hundreds of years and was
fueled by warriors coming back from the Crusades. There was restored enthusiasm for ancient Greek
and Roman craftsmanship. Individuals were incorporated into craftsmanship. Work of art was no more
only delineations of heavenly themes. There was new enthusiasm for science, the earth and logic. This
paper aims at evaluating on the literary works of middle age and renaissance.
The Plague Begins
Life in the city was soon to change definitely. Amid the late Middle Ages and early Renaissance (1350
1450) the bubonic plague, additionally called the Black Death, crushed one portion of the number of
inhabitants in Europe. The plague, which was quite often fatal, spread most quickly in urban
communities, where individuals were in close contact with each other. The best way to stay away from
the plague was to leave the city for the nation. This arrangement was, shockingly, accessible just to
those sufficiently affluent to make the excursion.
The Plague s Effect on the Economy
The population diminish brought about by the plague prompted to economic disparity. Vendors and
tradespeople had less individuals to whom they could offer their products. Items subsequently
gathered, and the dealers and brokers endured a loss in their income. Financial hardship spread all
through the group as the individuals who

The hypnotic induction has several stages.
Firstly the preparation stage, whereby therapist and client can discuss what the client is hoping to

their attention inwards. Then the deepening of induction, which is where the hypnotist puts the client

A decentralized currency, such as bitcoin, has no central repository or single administrator. Matsuura
(2016) explains, National governments apply well established rules addressing the creation and use of
fiat currency used in their countries. Fiat currency is often also described as a nation s legal tender. It
is the national currency, issued and guaranteed by the national government. At present, no nation has
established any form of digital currency as its sole form of fiat currency. For this reason, traditional
laws governing currency have not been directly applicable to Bitcoin and other virtual currencies.
Depending on what the currency is classified as will of course change how its use is supposed to be

Appearance Vs Reality Research Paper
Reality? What Reality?
Meditation can be a double edged tool. It can reveal the nature of actual reality, but in doing so it also
reveals many other states of consciousness that we experience as real but are not usually aware of their
true nature, depending on our present level of awareness. So, while meditation can show us true
reality, in the process we may realize that we have been living in a conceptual representation of reality
for perhaps years or even a whole lifetime.
Many of those who pursue meditation as a means of achieving self realization or self awareness reach
a point where they suddenly begin to perceive on an intuitive level, a truth that is fundamental to their
well being and sense of self and security, at which point some choose to continue and some choose to
discontinue the journey of meditation. In fact, this is a well known obstacle in meditation that has to
do with the true nature of reality and our perception or lack of perception of what is real.
Who Or What Is Aware
Suppose we go on an intellectual version of an actual meditation experience. We are sitting in a quiet
room surrounded by the familiar objects of our life. We place a candle on a low table before where we
intend to sit and meditate. There is little light in the room and we light the candle before us and begin

awareness as a threat is a sure sign that we are not living in the real world but rather some conceptual

with a long enough exposure to this, we will of course begin to believe and experience it as real. That
is, as long as we don t attempt to develop any true level of awareness though something like
meditation which would eventually reveal the

HIV Treatment Plan
Diseases, infections, and viruses effect the population around the world each and every day. One of
those viruses is the Human Immunodeficiency Virus, or better known as HIV. HIV is a virus that

Absolute Monarchy In The 17th Century Essay
Absolute Monarchy during the 17th Century During the seventeenth century, France and England
experienced many conflicts that resulted in public unrest. Absolute monarchy was the solution to
maintain order in society. Absolute monarchy allows a king to have complete authority to rule the state
by divine right. Under absolute monarchy, the king has full power in all parts of the sate and
parliament. Kings must be in control of all power and this power must not be shared to be successful
under absolute monarchy. In France, Louis XIV was the most successful absolute monarch due to his
stature and powerful involvement in the state. In England, an effort was made by James I to control
the state via absolute monarchy, but this was unsuccessful as the parliament in England was already
too powerful. Power and the ability to command ministers play a crucial role in the success of an
absolute monarch. To be a great monarch, one must work for the state and for the people. As Louis
XIV said, I am the state , meaning that he controls the state and without him a state does not exist. In

Louis built strictly for the union of government. All aspects of government were single handedly
controlled by Louis XIV. He prevented the establishment of large parliamentary bodies that would
challenge his power as in the case of England. Beyond this, Louis XIV had the support from his
people in France. As a result, Louis XIV pleased the people with secure France and one that stood elite

Monsanto Satire
The use of Monsanto s tactical format for approaching farmers who misuse their seeds is one that I
find a little concerning. Monsanto has a policy that the farmers who purchase their seeds sign that they
are not able to save their seeds or replant them for the next years crop. It is important for all industries
to protect their patented product, but I am not sure preventing the farmer s from using a product
purchased in a previous year would damage their patent. The farmer has already purchased the seed
from the supplier, so the seed is technically the owned product of the farmer who completed the
purchase. If the farmer is not doing anything with the product that will manipulate how it is used or in
a manner where the crop is produced,

Waitrose Narrative Techniques
This analytical essay will be focused upon the narrative technique and on the use of symbols in the
short story Fusilli. The short story is part of Graham Swift´s collection called England and other
stories . The short story is burdened in sadness and regret, which the main character displays as he
constantly reconsiders his past actions in his hesitant attempts to figure out whether he could have
prevented his son becoming a soldier or even his son´s death.
The text depicts a couple´s struggling life after their son is killed in action in Afghanistan. The short
story consists of flashbacks from the main person´s previous experiences which take place inside the
Supermarket Waitrose. The story is constructed by a specified narrative technique called backstory,
which means that the story precedes past events or background, which add meaning to the current
circumstances. Besides the story being depicted by past events in Waitrose, the story also consists of
the main character´s present daily routines and struggles after the death of his son That is proved on p.

Teenage pregnancy may not be one of the bigger issues of the world, like war or drug abuse, but it still
holds credibility. It also does not have a high declining rate. All of the world teenagers still get
pregnant, whether it be by a small or high percentage, and the government has no way to stop it.
However, the government can control what happens afterwards, when the baby is born. Obviously,
teens would have trouble in raising a baby on their own because they are not yet adults so they need
both financial and supportive help. So the government created Acts to help and states carried out
assistance programs as well. However, there has been controversy in whether or not teenage mothers
deserve all of this help. Teenage mothers should be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Same with WIC, no help can be administered until they receive an affirmation from a parent of legal
guardian over 18 years of age (Welfare for Pregnant Teens 2009). Now analyzing these programs in a
psychological sense, they could be appealing to the masses. This fallacy states that the argument is
either true or good because the masses thinks so or does it (Schick, Jr. and Vaughn 2013). Many
people believe it is right for teenage mothers to get help after all most people think that since these
girls are underage they cannot support themselves. This thinking is also a form of fallacy known as
Hasty Generalization, or concluding a verdict on something based off of evidence applying to only a
few things (Schick, Jr. and Vaughn 2013). Although sometimes it may be true it does not mean that the
teenage mom cannot take care of her child, it just simply means that she needs some help with it is all.
With this assumption, leading into one side of the argument: these adolescent mothers should not
receive welfare payments. Staten Island Borough President James Molinaro claims that welfare
payments for teenage parents is a burden for taxpayers but it also provides an encouragement for
teenagers to have kids since they know they will be financially safe (Kriss 2013). Molinaro is not the
only one who has this opinion. Representative E. Clay Shaw also agrees that if teenage mothers did
not get money than they would be more careful when having sex (Navarro 1995). Sure this

I Will Never Lose Patience And If I Do, I Will Work Harder
I will never lose patience and if I do, I will work harder to achieve this valuable virtue. Being patient
with my athletes and keeping communication channels open, empathetic, and positive with sound
reinforcements and corrections will allow me to be more effective in the long run. I will never allow
myself or my athletes to get bored. Getting bored forces their concentration outside the sphere to a
daydream state which can be detrimental if hanging on the side of mountain or engaged in a fast break
in basketball. I will never allow myself or my athletes to be overly tasked to a point where negative
learning occurs or where frustrations rule the moment. This is a potential area for physical injury or a

SA is knowing and integrating the past and present with a forecast for the future and then creating a
sound plan of action to achieve another short term goal in the staircase toward a performance goal.
This requires the person to be also engaged in the moment with sound decision making as a response
to the feedback they just received in their dynamic environment. The ability to concentrate, to focus
on the moment with intentional effort, to be consistent, committed, adaptable, disciplined, confident,
calm, and composed are just a few of the characteristics required to achieve this high state of
situational awareness. Without situational awareness, the athlete or fighter pilot will be behind the jet
or lagging in their sport with poor performance aimed toward failure. The ability to refocus and get
back in the game with total concentration on the moment to regain SA is one of the toughest items on
the agenda as an athlete. The better one is prepared mentally and physically for all aspects of the flight
or the game increases their chances of maintaining this SA and the degree of concentration needed for
that event. Realizing that one can only control their attitude, effort, and focus also plays into this
complex, individualized ability to concentrate. According to Dr. Robert Alkov, a noted human factors

Percent by Mass of Naco3 in Alka-Seltzer
Lindsey Stockton. 3/2/2013. Section 16093.
Determination of % by mass of NaCO3 in Alka Seltzer Tablets
Alka Seltzer is an effervescent antacid typically used for pain relief and neutralizing stomach acid to
alleviate indigestion. Alka Seltzer tablets contain Aspirin, Citric Acid (CH3COOH), and Sodium
Bicarbonate (NaCO3). When the tablet is placed in water it undergoes an acid base reaction and
Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is a byproduct that causes the notorious Fizz . The objective of the lab was to
measure the % of NaCO3 in an Alka Seltzer tablet in different measures of an acidic solution
(Vinegar). Through understanding of stoichiometric relationships and limiting reactants, quantities of

Sources of error include massing the flask with all substances before the reaction was fully completed;
which could be the cause for trial 7 (seen table 1) having a lower average % by mass as the vinegar

  • 2. Buddhism and No-Self Essay Eastern enlightenment religions have been gaining popularity throughout the western world for the past few decades, with many people attracted to a different way of experiencing religion. As with many other enlightenment religions, Buddhism requires disciples to understand concepts that are not readily explainable: one such concept is that of no self. In this essay I shall discuss the no self from a number of modern perspectives; however, as no self is difficult to describe I shall focus on both the self and no self. Beginning with psychological aspects, and neurophysiological research on transcendental meditation, I shall discuss the impact of modern brain science on our understanding of the self and transcendence. Next I will outline ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 123 125) Modern psychology attempts to scientifically explain many aspects of our lives. Yet it seems that when psychology meets religion the result is rarely a fair compromise. As an example, if faced with a person claiming to have no sense of self a psychologist may suspect some form of dissociative disorder. An excellent modern example of spiritualism clashing with psychological diagnoses is that of the much maligned Aleister Crowley; after years of searching for his own samyaksambodhi he entered into a period of silence and claimed enlightenment – the psychological description of Crowley is that of a paranoid schizophrenic who declined into catatonia. I simply wonder where the line is that divides the religious experience from the psychopathological. Neurophysiologists have shown interest in that state of no self that Buddhist monks can reach while in prayer. It has been found, using a specialized brain imaging technique based on CT scanning, that the brain state of Buddhist monks in deep meditation is radically different from that of the average waking person (Newberg et al., 2001). In fact, during meditation the body changes its physiological ‘state to a more beneficial pattern (Weiten, 2005, p. 145). This is not to say that Buddhism is the path – similar brain patterns have also been found in Franciscan Nuns deep in prayer. Interesting work has also been done researching the effect of electromagnetic interference on brain function. Researchers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Benefits Of High Intensity Power Training In today s society, the overall trend and goal is to become fit and to reduce common health risks such as obesity and diabetes. Many new programs have been developed to provide people with the resources and community to achieve their goal of fitness. CrossFit is an example of a recent exercise trend that have been exploding in popularity. CrossFit is a program created by Greg Glassman and Lauren Jenai in 1996 but was not established until 2000. The original CrossFit gym was brought up in Santa Cruz, California. Despite positive ratings, the CrossFit program has been investigated for elevated risk of injuries and health. CrossFit gained popularity across the world as a competitive fitness sport that promote a carried and high intensity workout regimen incorporating elements of weightlifting, high intensity interval training, and gymnastics (Lu et al.,2015). This program is practiced for weight loss, improvement of health related risks, and improvement of body composition. Some researchers proposed that high intensity power training that are CrossFit based can improve maximal aerobic fitness and body composition of a person. Smith, Sommer, Starkoff, and Devor (2013) designed a 10 week CrossFit program that consists of high intensity interval training for their subjects. They studied 54 individuals that varied in fitness level and gender, but only 43 (23 men, 20 women) completed the training. The researchers found that the program significantly ... • 4. Internal And External Conflict In Shakespeare s Hamlet In the play Hamlet, William Shakespeare projects society during his time period onto the major conflicts of the characters. The play provides an array of internal and external conflicts reflected in the characters and the storyline. Shakespeare illustrates the internal and external conflicts within the characters through the use of motif and literary devices such as soliloquy. The conflicts observed from the plot and characters mimic the religious and political attitudes during Shakespeare s era. Throughout Hamlet, Shakespeare depicts the internal conflicts within the characters through the use of soliloquy. Shakespeare mastered the use of soliloquy in this work by conveying and portraying the contradictions in the mental processes of Hamlet and Claudius. The author s use of soliloquies illustrates the internal conflict within Hamlet and further emphasizes the common themes revolving around revenge and doubt. In Act 3: Scene 3, Shakespeare incorporates a soliloquy where Hamlet s internal conflict of doubt and revenge is evident: Now might I do it pat. Now he is a praying. And now I ll do t. And so he goes to heaven. And so am I revenged. That would be scanned (Puchner 711). Hamlet attempts to kill Claudius while he is vulnerable, however, he hesitates and ponders with the contradictions of religion. Shakespeare illustrates the contradiction of the desire for revenge and the hesitation for revenge. He draws in religion by bringing focus to sin and the afterlife. Hamlet s ... Cell walls give plant cells their rigid oblong shape (in morphogenesis) and its strength aids the plant cell s maintenance of osmotic stability preventing lysis and crenation when exposed to hypertonic or hypotonic environments respectively. The apoplast pathway in the cell wall is also completely permeable to ions and small particles while preventing the entry of toxic macromolecules. In fig.1, the absorbance values of the resultant beetroot solutions show a clear increase with increasing temperature, this is gradual from 23°C to 60°C, but this steeply increases until 70°C which was the last data point. Extrapolation may show an exponential increase, until all the red pigment has been liberated from all of the beetroot cells, and the trend line would thus plateau horizontally. Discussion: The monochromatic light of the spectrophotometer was set to a value of 540nm (the green region of the visual spectrum). This is essential because the betacyanin pigments present in the vacuoles of beetroot cells are what give the vegetable its distinctive red colour (light transmitted), so the compromise green wavelength is absorbed in the greatest ... • 6. The Reconstruction Era Was A Success The Reconstruction Era was a Success Shortly after the Civil War ended in 1867, President Abraham Lincoln s new objective was to unify the union and the confederate states into what was formerly known as the United States of America. This time period is known as the Reconstruction Era, starting with the surrender of Robert E. Lee at Appomattox Court House in 1865 and ending with the implementation of the Compromise of 1877. The Reconstruction Era was a time period full of political, economic, and social changes, some being temporary and some lasting to modern time. Many modern ideas about freedom and political equality come from the positive results of reconstruction. Reconstruction however did not successfully solve the problem of social inequality between African Americans and White Southerners, but the goal of reconstruction was not to promote social equality, it was to unify the union, which was accomplished. So, the Reconstruction Era was not a failure, if anything, it was successful because it granted rights to African Americans that they never had before, it started programs such as the Freedmen s Bureau to assist former slaves and poor whites with education, and it met the goal of unification. Prior to the Reconstruction Era, African Americans had extremely little rights in society and politics. However, the Reconstruction Era granted several rights to African Americans that are still a part of The United States Constitution today. The Thirteenth Amendment ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He is able to skim over large periods of time without leaving the reader with questions, and gives just enough detail that the audience is able to understand past events. Richler gives a great amount of detail about one particular incident that enhances the essence of the event and contrasts with the last few sentences. The small conversation that Richler added gives the reader a greater respect for what Leo accomplished, and by contrast, demonstrates the great misjudgement the narrator made. Overall, Richler does an excellent job of balancing showing and telling, and does so in an effective manner that helps the audience gain insight into the situation through the use of contrast. • 14. The Qualities And Traits Of Leaders Essay 2 The qualities and traits of leaders A number of leadership traits almost come directly from within. These are the qualities that might be harder to train, but which make leading other people smoother. Committed A good leader has to show commitment. Fulfilling your vision won t happen overnight and you need to be able to convince everyone else that you won t disappear when things get tough. If you make a promise, you need to keep it. You can t just preach about achieving A, B and C, but you need to show that you are actually going to do it. Commitment matters for two reasons. First, when you show commitment you help build trust. The team and anyone involved with the project will be able to trust your word. Trust will keep work morale up and help you achieve objectives faster since people don t need to second guess what your objectives are. But furthermore, the second aspect of commitment is about setting an example. As mentioned throughout the article, leadership is about setting an example and if you show commitment to your word, your subordinates will be inspired to stick to their promises. Using your own example of hard work, you will ensure the people around you feel motivated to do the same thing. Passionate Passion should be at the heart of everything you do. It doesn t matter whether you are a leader of a multibillion company or a lumberjack, without passion, you won t achieve success. Chakrabarti Department of Physics Tribhuvan University, MMAM Campus, Biratnagar, Nepal ABSTRACT Indium is a trivalent metal. Though chemically not so reactive, it often forms complexes within its binary alloys. In this theoretical work we have studied the impact of eigenvalues on the electron phonon coupling strength of indium. We have also dealt with the same for two binary alloys of it viz. indium magnesium and indium zinc. First of all we have computed the non local screened form factor for each of them. For this purpose initially the orthogonalised plane wave parameter is considered as unity. Thereafter Vashishta Singwi form of exchange and correlation are employed. For indium the Clementi eigenvalues being not available, the experimental energy values have been taken besides the Herman Skillman core energy eigenvalues. Our results are quite satisfactory for the metal. For the alloys our results lie within the range of values as obtained by other researchers. Our computation reveals that the superconducting state parameter can be reasonably reproduced by Harrison s first principle pseudopotential technique along with McMillan s formalism provided a proper choice of the core energy eigenvalues is made. The community provides familiarity with daily interactions among individuals and creates a sense of belonging. A sense of belonging in a community provides the comfort and safety required to discover and utilize one s gifts (Grady, 1994). The foundation of self esteem and self acceptance starts with a sense of belonging in the community (Grady, 1994). The health profession, occupational therapy, strives for inclusion in the community for people who have disabilities and those who do not. The sense of belonging is important to an individual s self esteem, specifically those who have a disability, and is used in the health field of occupational therapy. • 28. A Patchwork Planet Character Analysis We assume that our family members care about each other and wants nothing but the best for us, because they are the closes people in our lives. In some cases, this is not always true. Simply because they share the same blood, does not mean they are necessarily in your camp. In the novel, A Patchwork Planet, through Barnaby s relationship with his family, with the members of Rent A Back and with Martine and Pop Pop, Anne Tyler suggest that people who have your best interest at heart manifest their care through action. Ever since Barnaby was born, his family makes it clear that they are ashamed of him. Primarily, Margot always looks down upon him. Even since his day of birth, because he was born late*. Also, the fact that his parents send him away to Renascence where he is isolated from his family for twelve months a year, indicates that Barnaby s parents do not have his wellbeing at heart (86). The result of Barnaby s isolation affects his mindset, in other words, he is always indecisive because he allows his family s judgments of him affect his own opinion. Moreover, during Barnaby s 30th birthday celebration at his parents house, Margot criticizes his career: Of course he would rather work elsewhere! ... He s spitting in the Foundation s face! The 45 Kipling route passes through many neighborhoods as well as different areas that serve different uses. In this area, there is a number of different types of housing including older single detached dwellings, duplexes, triplexes, townhouses, and modern single detached homes. The area also consists of churches and schools, but mostly consists of housing. The majority of the area is suburban and hardly resembles a typical residential neighbourhood within the city of Toronto. It seems to have more in common with a suburb such as Vaughan. It is not until the route reaches Kipling Avenue and Dixon Road where it starts to feel more like Toronto, with high rise buildings and retail stores rather than a residential suburb. • 30. Choosing Life Over Death, Kindness Over Killing Essay Choosing life over death, kindness over killing. It s simple really. Practice what you preach. However, to most it is viewed as extreme, somewhat ridiculous? What I believe is extreme is consuming decomposing flesh and pretending to embrace peace while we make violence, suffering, torture and death a daily part of our lives. Eating fruits and veggies... extreme? Not so much. I believe it comes down to compassion. The basic concept that most people have been taught since birth. As Arthur Schopenhauer says compassion is the basis of morality . In its simplest form it is just kindness, at the least respect. Yet all day we make choices that define us, our beliefs and morals, who we are what we support and whether or not we realise the enormity of these decisions, they all have ethical implications for which we are accountable. My decision is veganism. In recent times the popularity of veganism has risen greatly, but so has the negative views surrounding it. In the articles Do animal lovers need to be vegan? (Telegraph UK, Peter Wedderburn, 11 Aug 2015) and Meat is more than just dead animals (Peter Schaller, Feb 14, 2015), the concept of veganism is discussed in regards to compassion. In this article I will discuss the three reasons why I believe true kindness and compassion means omitting all animal products from your life. • 38. Appearance Vs Reality Research Paper Reality? What Reality? Meditation can be a double edged tool. It can reveal the nature of actual reality, but in doing so it also reveals many other states of consciousness that we experience as real but are not usually aware of their true nature, depending on our present level of awareness. So, while meditation can show us true reality, in the process we may realize that we have been living in a conceptual representation of reality for perhaps years or even a whole lifetime. Many of those who pursue meditation as a means of achieving self realization or self awareness reach a point where they suddenly begin to perceive on an intuitive level, a truth that is fundamental to their well being and sense of self and security, at which point some choose to continue and some choose to discontinue the journey of meditation. In fact, this is a well known obstacle in meditation that has to do with the true nature of reality and our perception or lack of perception of what is real. Who Or What Is Aware Suppose we go on an intellectual version of an actual meditation experience. We are sitting in a quiet room surrounded by the familiar objects of our life. Absolute monarchy was the solution to maintain order in society. Absolute monarchy allows a king to have complete authority to rule the state by divine right. Under absolute monarchy, the king has full power in all parts of the sate and parliament. • 51. Percent by Mass of Naco3 in Alka-Seltzer Lindsey Stockton. 3/2/2013. Section 16093. Determination of % by mass of NaCO3 in Alka Seltzer Tablets Alka Seltzer is an effervescent antacid typically used for pain relief and neutralizing stomach acid to alleviate indigestion. Alka Seltzer tablets contain Aspirin, Citric Acid (CH3COOH), and Sodium Bicarbonate (NaCO3). When the tablet is placed in water it undergoes an acid base reaction and Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is a byproduct that causes the notorious Fizz . The objective of the lab was to measure the % of NaCO3 in an Alka Seltzer tablet in different measures of an acidic solution (Vinegar). Through understanding of stoichiometric relationships and limiting reactants, quantities of substances yielded or consumed in a reaction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sources of error include massing the flask with all substances before the reaction was fully completed; which could be the cause for trial 7 (seen table 1) having a lower average % by mass as the vinegar was increasing. Another origin of error would be using two different beakers, the differences in the mass of the beakers affects the lab results of the initial and final massing between ...
