Abstract
This study compared stance marker (affect and quantifiers) frequencies and their
part of speech frequencies in males and females political jokes. 40 political jokes
were selected via social networks instant messages from native English speakers.
20 jokes were presented by females and 20 by males. The jokes comprised of 1000
words. Stance marker frequencies were assessed manually. Two categories of stance
markers were examined: affect and quantifiers. Results of the study show that
frequencies of quantifiers and affect were higher in the political jokes presented by
females than males. The data showed that most commonly, affect was expressed in
adjectives and verbs but quantifiers were adjectival and adverbial.

Led by a group of actors into the theatre from the lounge, I saw a number of
different theatrical elements that were distinguished from other conventional
theatre. The very first item that caught my attention as I entered was a line of
racks for coat hangers. Normally they would not be one of the first objects an
audience would notice in the house. The actors naturally guided the audience to
hang their coats on the hangers. As I went further into the space, I realized the
audience seats did not face the stage; the platform in which performance usually
takes place on was veiled by black curtains, visually creating a wall. This creation
of the new wall yet did not induce me to raise a question on where the actors would
act; its answer was evidently shown. The house was stripped down to a bare, flat
ground, encircled by the audience chairs. I did not see any specially raised platform
that highlighted any actors presence. Nor did I see any decorative set design, apart
from two pillars and a bench in between, which distinctly differentiated the acting
region from the spectator region. I did see a blue tape on the ground that physically
defined the stage area. However, sitting in the front row, the tape mark was so close

we will be breaking bonds and forming new bonds and therefore creating a new
substance. In a Physical change we will have the same substance but simply in a

change is occurring we need a change in the indicators. The more active a chemical
is the more likely it will have a chemical reaction with another chemical. (Dickinson
et al. 180) The higher the element is on the Activity Series the more reactive it is.
(Dickinson et al. 192) A reactive element will replace an element that is underneath it
in the activity series. (Dickinson et al. 192) In this lab we will examine chemical
reactions with the activity series, indicators and the type of chemical reaction it is.
The purpose of this lab is to study chemical change and analyze why and how
chemical reactions are created. In this lab we are going to combine certain
chemicals with each other to create a chemical change and we will observe and
