The fashion industry is a utopia, of silk and suede and, shoes and belts. It is a place where flowers
smell of Chanel and Givenchy; and trees bear diamonds and rubies, where extravagant living is a
reality; and thin women walk down the many streets with hot cups of espressos every fraction of a
second. And this industry is not just the fourth largest in the world, but also the most loved! Millions
have found livelihood here. Millions try everyday to find their place. And the options for them are
many designer, model, photographer, choreographer, stylist the list is endless! But is it as simple as it

Another former intern at Alexander McQueen sued the company recently for exploiting her and
making her do art works for embroideries and dyeing fabrics for free. (The Guardian, February 17,
2014)
In reality, the very concept of unpaid internship is faulty. To survive in expensive cities like New York
or Los Angeles and pay out of your own pocket for food, accommodation and transportation while you
work forty hours a week for free is both unrealistic and impractical, unless, of course if you have the
financial backing. But that means that fashion internships are just for the rich as a middle class
household definitely doesn t have the budget for it. So does this imply that only if you have the
money, you get a good internship? A survey by NACE which came in The Wall Street Journal says,
60% of 2012 graduates who worked a paid internship got at least one job offer, while just 37% of
those in unpaid gigs got any offers. That s slightly only slightly better than the offer rate for graduates
who skipped internships entirely, at 36%. Without a job surety, interns are walking aimlessly knocking
on every door to just get in. Interns are not even considered as employees although in most small scale
companies they make up a major part of the working force. What is wrong in the system is that the

The third strategy, focus is when a firm chooses a narrow segment within its industry and tailors its
offerings (strategy) to that segment (Porter, 1980). Focus strategies involve achieving cost leadership
or differentiation within niche markets in ways that are not available to more broadly focused players.
Finally, Porter labels firms that follow each generic strategy, but do not achieve any of them as stuck
in the middle . Porter asserted that the three strategies were distinct mutually exclusive alternatives.
He argued that firms may be able to successfully pursue more than one of these strategies
simultaneously, but this is rarely possible. (Porter, 1980: 35). A firm which failed to follow one of the
strategies was stuck in the middle, which guaranteed the firm low profitability. This objective of this
paper is to thoroughly explain the three generic competitive strategies as presented by porter. The
paper further analyses the competitive strategy of apple Inc and the application of porter s generic
competitive strategy before drawing vital conclusions on the subject. 2.0 Porter s three Generic
Competitive Strategies Generic strategies were used initially in the early 1980s, and seem to be even
more popular today. They outline the three main strategic options open to organization that wish to

Introduction Zespri is a grower owned corporatized cooperative based out of New Zealand. The
company, which was introduced in 1997, is focused solely on delivering and marketing Kiwifruit.
Zespri was founded out of necessity by New Zealand s Kiwifruit growers after the price of kiwifruit
declined and the industry faced a disaster. Zespri is owned by 2,700 current and former kiwifruit
growers, and is governed by an eight member board elected by the shareholders. In 2008, Lain Jager

They have intellectual property protected varieties of kiwifruits and have created a global sourcing to
maintain supply year round. Kiwifruit, however, is not a trademarked product, so it is imitable. The
ability of competitors to imitate Zespri is hindered by their marketing efforts. Zespri spent over 6% of
revenues on promotion to market Zespris kiwifruit as the World s finest . On average fruit industry
spends only 0.7%. The inimitability of Zespri s trademark and the promotion of a unique brand create
sustainable competitive advantage for the company.
Non Substitutability: To compete with Zespri, competitors are cultivating their own types of kiwifruit,
which is different from Zespri s types of kiwi, such as red flesh kiwifruit. What s more, the
competitors in Italy and Chile are competing with New Zealand. These competitors supply cheaper
kiwifruit than Zespri. The firm developed several varieties of products such as Zespri Green, Gold,
and Organic in response to the competition. Also, Zespri encouraged maintaining the strict growing
standards, high standards of quality, food safety, traceability and sustainability to differentiate
themselves from other producers.
Exploitability: In terms of exploitability, Zespri is doing well using their resources, and capabilities.
Zespri promoted two way communications with growers to support transparency and to build a long

Advantages And Disadvantages Of ASP, Sales And Sales And...
.2.1 Introduction
Every company or firm requires CRM to handle its sales and marketing activities. The manual
processes of CRM are now replaced with automated services like SFA and EMA.
The latest trend with respect to software services is to lease or hire the services. The increasing costs
of installing software and the complexities involved in creating an infrastructure, and human resources
to maintain and manage the technical aspects have given rise to this trend. As a result a business
model where a particular organisation provides computer services to its various companies. These
organisations or third party entities are called Application Service providers or ASPs. These ASPs
have bought down the costs to a great extent. These have a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

are also a few more examples of free ASP tools. Besides, there are paid ASP services also. So how
does ASP operate? It operates as given below.
 The software provider owns the software, the hardware like servers and resources like the support
team
 The software provider makes the software available to the customers through Internet
 And the customer pays the service provider on a fixed model that is, on a monthly basis or per use
format.
c) Advantages and disadvantages of implementing ASP:
The advantages of implementing ASP is that, this model helps in saving time and cost involved in
implementing a technological infrastructure, like servers, network software, database etc. Besides this,
each time software updations happen, expert support is provided by the service provider. However, the
service terms and conditions are to be defined. Besides, these some more advantages are listed here.
Elimination of Software integration problems from the client s premises
The cost of the software application is spread over a number of clients
The service providers gain more experience in the application than the internal staff
The maintenance and management of the software systems is taken care of by experts from service

greater than if temperature only varies from 20 to 22 degrees each day. The standard deviation can be
calculated using Excel (we will see how in class). You will want to make graphs and/or tables of these
relationships for your report. Here is an example of the type of graph you will need to make. By
convention, the independent variable (the cause ) is plotted on the x axis, while the dependent variable

responsible they are really hard to rely on and to be trust. Parents tend to trust children who can take

Comparing Heroes In Forty Guns And Gran Torino
Walt Kowalski and Griff Bonnell are both seen as heroes in their separate films and this is why we can
compare the two of them. Even though they both can be seen as heroes, they are both two totally
different characters, however. Just because two characters have some of the same qualities, does not
mean that they are going to be similar throughout the whole movie. In both Forty Guns and Gran
Torino, we see the toughness of each character and their transformation to a compassionate character
throughout each movie due to each of their experiences then allowing them to fit in with the Western
Genre of the film.
In Forty Guns we see Griff Bonnell working at the attorney general s office. He is on the lookout for a
man that was involved in a mail robbery. Griff is seen as a tough character because he carried around a
gun and shot it well. Although Griff does not seem like the one to start any commotion, he definitely is
one to intervene in it to stop other danger from happening. Throughout all of Forty Guns, we do not
see Griff actually kill anyone and we also come to find out that he has not killed anyone in 10 years.
Towards the end of the movie, we see Griff kill Brockie and then Jessica and Griff ride off together.

becomes more mature and respects all of Sue s family at the birthday party. At the end of the film, we

It s all in the display. When an item, such as a watch or a scarf, is displayed in a glass case, it implies

Even high fashion stores aren t above using the dumping method to display gloves, leather goods,

Two of the most important financial statements for a business are the Profit and Loss Account, and the
Balance Sheet.
The Profit and Loss Account shows the profit or loss of a business over a given period of time e.g. 3
months, 1 year, etc.
In contrast, the Balance Sheet is like a photograph taken at an instant in time giving a picture of what
the business owns and what the business owes at that moment in time. As we shall see it will always

Creditors due within one year are the sums that a business owes money to in the short period
otherwise known as current liabilities.
Net current assets is a measure of how solvent or liquid a business is.
Many businesses need to have working capital. Working capital is calculated by subtracting current
liabilities from current assets:
Working capital = Current assets Current liabilities
Note that the figure for net current assets appear almost in the centre of a balance sheet, and is a figure
that many people will look at first to check on the solvency of a business.
Total assets current liabilities is a sum that appears in the balance sheet simply doing what the title

Creditors due after more than one year shows the longer term liabilities of the bsiness.
Total net assets is calculated by taking away all the liabilities (both current and long term) from all of
the assets (both current and long term).
Shareholders funds shows the value of the shareholders capital in the business. It will always be the

The Politics Of The Global Essay
INTRODUCTION
The Politics of the Global gives us a narration of how development of international political economy
happens and an understanding of globalization. Globalization is frequently analyzed independently
and the author shows how globalization plays out in two multi cultural democracies; India and USA. It
portrays different political possibilities like colonial coercion, post colonial ambivalence and post
colonial co option that are opened by global relays of meanings, identities and power from historically
different locations. Globalization also explores a variety of spaces and strategies for resisting the
colonization of the global. The author identifies bureaucratic delays and red tape that happens in
government of India as the same of a business man who uses technology to improve productivity and
is professional in his approach. It focuses on reconstructing the state s economy and its government
using the SMART simple, moral, accountable, responsive and transparent governance argument. He
characterizes globalization into three narratives; the rationalist, historical materialist and the
constructivist approaches. Each narrative consists of many theories some of them disagreeing with
each other but at the end of the day, each narrative is united through shared models of understanding
and explanation that seeks to go beyond the international to access the global (Muppidi, 2004, p.3).

In his book, the author brings out globalization and looks at

Comparison Of Gen X And Y Generation
Generations As I grew up I realized that my life is very different from the life that my parents and my
grandparents lived and probably will be different from the life my children will live. Some people say
that every generation is different from each other. Throughout history many generation have been
named after something that it s said to describe them in every way, Tim Urban called the generation I
live in the Generation Y or GYPSY s. The generation my parents lived in was called Generation X or
Baby Boomers. The Gen X and Y are very different in some aspects while in other they are very
similar. For many people the normal five milestones of adulthood are completing school, leaving
home, becoming financially independent, marring and having a child (Henig) in that order, but the
people in generation Y have a different way of viewing those milestones. People in the Y generation
stopped marring early and having babies and became more focused on their careers, while others
choose to leave school for work, some never have children or are unable to, some never leave home or
return home after some time and some never achieve all the five milestones. During my parents
generation in Brazil it was normal for people to return to their parents house (Fischer) and stay there
until they get married or start a new family, different from generation Y the education was very
important so not many people left school. Most people in the Baby boomers generation kept the same

Essay on Neisseria gonorrhoeae
Neisseria gonorrhoeae
Introduction
Neisseria gonorrhoeae is the obligate human pathogen that causes the sexually transmitted disease
(STD) gonorrhea. This Gram negative diplococci/gonococci does not infect other animals or
experimental animals and does not survive freely in the environment. The gonococcal infection occurs
in the upper or lower tract, pharynx, ophthalmic area, rectum, and bloodstream. During the 1980 s
gonorrhea was also referred to as the clap when public awareness was quite minimal. This was one of
the venereal diseases prostitutes hoped to contract since it resulted in infertility by pelvic
inflammatory disease (PID). As documentation, diagnostic testing, and public awareness improved,
there has been a decline ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once the gonococci gain entrance into the mucous membranes of these areas, they target columnar
non ciliated epithelial cells. Neisseria gonorrhoeae uses a type IV pilus (twitches, forms bundles and
able to take up DNA) to anchor itself at the infection site. The pilE gene has been found to be the main
factor for adherence to epithelial cells. In a study, missense mutations of the pilE gene revealed altered
fiber morphology. PilE mutants had a defect in filament assembly, hence, less adherence to human
epithelial cells. In a wild type sample there are significant interconnections of cells, then compared to
a sample with a missense PilE polypeptide, we can see reduced interconnections of the cells and
filamentous structure. These defects only are expressed when the pilT gene is activated. Spread
Spread occurs via oral, vaginal, and anal sexual contact through the routes of penis vagina, penis
mouth, penis anus, mouth vagina, and mouth anus. During childbirth, infants contract the infection in
the birth canal resulting in bilateral conjunctivitis. Intimate contact is required to infect another
person, therefore, the myth of contracting the disease by toilet seats is a myth.
Multiplication
Replication of gonococci begin with the adherence to non ciliated cells resulting in death triggered by
the lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Once the ciliary beat is impaired, the bacteria cannot be cleared from
the mucosal

Figurative Language In Mirrors By Justin Timberlake
The song Mirrors by Justin Timberlake has a lot of figurative language I will prove a couple cases
where that is true.
Mirrors by Justin Timberlake has a lot of simile. A simile is a figure of speech involving the
comparison of one thing with another thing of a different kind. It is used to make a description more
empathic or vivid. The quote it s like you re my mirror from the song is a simile you know for a fact
that it is a simile because a person cannot be a mirror. So Justin Timberlake is comparing a mirror to a
person. A mirror and a person are nothing alike so you can automatically see that it is a direct
comparison.
This song also has a lot of symbolism. Symbolism is an artistic and poetic movement or style using
symbolic ages and

Design, Instrumentation And Analytical Tools Essay
The previous chapter focused on the identification and discussion of the theoretical framework, related
theories and the theoretical assertions of previous studies. This chapter identifies the methods, design,
instrumentation and analytical tools. The content of the chapter aims at the identification of
appropriate and suitable methods and the adoption of such within the confines of a systematic design
which clearly stipulates population and sampling procedures; data collection instruments with regards
to variable measurement and operational definitions, instrument reliability and validity as well as
descriptive and inferential statistical tools (Sekaran, 2003; Sarantakos, 2005). 3.2 Research Design
The research design is primarily concerned with the structure and framework of plans within which
empirical activities concerned with research are to be undertaken. It encapsulates concepts such as
population and sample of the study, methodology and characteristic of the study as well as instrument
for generation of data and defines the layout for the entire field work (Sullivan, 2001; Sarantakos,
2005). Similarly, Baridam (2008) describe research design as the basic question of how the focus of
the research will be brought into and how they will be employed within the research setting to obtain
the required information. It is a framework for collecting valid and reliable data to test the hypotheses
and answer the research questions. There are two main types of research

Describe The Importance Of Electrolytes
Electrolytes are very important to have in the human body. It is very unhealthy to have an imbalance
of electrolytes. Electrolyte imbalance may lead to disease or even death. ( Nate Morrow )
Salt is a very important electrolyte. Humans need salt to survive on the planet of Earth. Salt can also
be called sodium. Low sodium levels are very dangerous. People with diseases are at higher risk of a
low sodium level.Another important electrolyte is magnesium. Magnesium is important for 300
biochemical reactions! Also an important electrolyte is phosphate. Phosphate strengthens bones and
teeth. Bicarbonate is also one of the major electrolytes. Kidneys release bicarbonate when acids build
up through metabolic processes. Also, potassium is a key electrolyte. Potassium is important for
regulating your heartbeat and muscle function. ( U.S National Library of Medicine ) It is also
important to keep your electrolytes balanced. Electrolyte loss is very dangerous. Water does not
replenish the electrolytes lost in sweat. Most sports drinks claim to replenish electrolytes lost in sweat.
Although, not all beverages are made to hydrate, so be aware on which sports drink you choose next.
Hydration is also crucial to live a healthy life. Dehydration can cause electrolyte imbalance.
Electrolyte imbalance symptoms include twitching, weakness, and seizures. ( Healthline )
It is also important to have a healthy amount of salt in your body. Salt imbalances can lead to heart

Lifestyle Magazine As An Example
Using Lifestyle magazine as an example, explore how media texts target specific audience.
Lifestyle magazine are magazines that tells the audience about the lifestyle they live and can have an
impact on their lives as their views can be subverted by the ideology of the magazine. This ideology
comes from the creators of the magazine; they put what they think instead of what the public thinks
about a certain topic. In this writing i am going to talk about what the lifestyle magazines do in order
to attract specific audience and how they achieve in targeting specific audience.
The two lifestyle magazines that i am going to talk about are FHM and Cosmopolitan magazine.
These magazines were released on november 2013 and the target audience between the two has links
and oppositions. On both magazines, the central image is the image of females; which suggests that
these magazines are targeted at female. But, on the front of these magazines it is a picture of seductive
females which implies that the audience is different and possibly males as they would get attracted.
I am going to start by analysing how FHM targets their audience and keep their loyalty so that they
would not look for another magazine to replace the FHM magazine they currently hold. This magazine
is promoting anti feminism as the main central image is of a woman with a seductive look which is
representing woman in a negative manner. Also, further connotes objectification of woman as the

Information Visualization And Data Mining
Part 1: Introduction 1.1 Information Visualization and Data Mining The continuous developing
advanced technology has been leading to the generation of millions of terabytes of information every
year. Most of them can be available in digital forms [1]. The large amount of information is no longer
hard for human to locate and achieve thanks to the quick development of search engine such as
Google. However, understanding information is still a problem for most humans. Information
visualization utilizes computer based visual representations of information to enhance and extend
human thinking. Visual components are broadly used because human eyes can process visual signals
more rapidly and human brains can understand them more easily. Since the first IEEE conference on
Information Visualization in 1990 [1], this technology has been broadly used in various subjects such
as earth science, physics, chemistry, biology, and computer science in order to represent copious data
and potential patterns visually and obviously. In non science disciplines, such as business, digital

Essay 4: The Effects of Violent Media
Introduction
As the internet becomes an essential part of daily life for most of the population, the youth have
quickly adopted its usage. The increased availability of television, film, music, and video games has
made these forms of entertainment popular choices for young consumers. Along with the increase in
media options, media s depiction of violence has increased as well. Concern over the increased
violence in the media has prompted research on its effect of child development. Initiatives to try and
control the amount of violence consumed by younger people include a video game rating system and
parental alerts for television programs. Unfortunately, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regardless of the rating system to help empower adults control what their children purchase and
consume, the exposure to violent media often occurs anyway (Becker Olsen Norberg, 2010). Many
parents feel that it is difficult to control every aspect of media that their children come into contact
with and are often not convinced that any adverse effects occur (Vessey Lee, 2000).
The range in media form can cause many to conclude that one form may be more harmful than
another. Over the last decade, video and computer games have gained popularity as the most common
way for children and adolescents to spend leisure time (Vessey Lee, 2000). Over eighty percent of
today s most popular video games contain violence (Vessey Lee, 2000), showing that there is a strong
preference for these types of games in the market. Television and filmmakers have also taken leaped
towards more violent programming and content that appeal to their audience. These visual images of
violence have been determined to increase aggressive behavior in frequent viewers as well as
desensitize the population towards violent acts (Videogames|and|Violence, 2007).
Violent media can exist without images in the form of music, often rap or hip hop. Studies have linked
frequent exposure to these violent lyrics to aggressive and deviant behaviors similar to those shown by
adolescents (Miranda Claes, 2004). Although there are distinct differences in

Egg Drop Experiment Essay
For an egg drop machine to be successfully protected the egg when it drop at a certain height, the
creator must have an idea of it weight and the way it drop. It also depend on other factor, like the
surface it is drop to, because if it a hard surface, the chance of the egg breaking will be higher than
sand surface.
The formula for this design is F=ma= Ft=mV
For this, the mass is important, because if the machine is to heavy, it will drop faster and the impact
will be heavier, the chance of the egg breaking will also increase, while if the weight is light, it will
drop slower and the impact will also less. So basing this equation, and because of the restriction of
material and rules, I decided to designed a machine that have small square box, and in it, there is a
cone that will contain the egg. I thought of this design because I think of how the small square box
will absorb the instead of the cone impact cone, so the egg will had a higher chance of survive. ...

Hierarchal Mentality In Down At The Cross By James Baldwin
James Baldwin s essay, Down At The Cross emphasizes the importance of treating all people equally
rather than adopting and perpetuating racially hierarchal mentalities. Baldwin describes the
complicated dynamic he had with his father growing up, in the context of this human thirst for
hierarchical dominance that is depicted in Baldwin s father. Baldwin suggests multiple times that he
and his father s relationship is dysfunctional as a result of his father s infatuation with having power
over him. A similar infatuation with domination and power is also notably prominent in the people
who have racially oppressed Baldwin s father in his lifetime. Not only does this mentality demonstrate
hypocrisy, but it also demonstrates the endless cycle of oppression that occurs when one person or
group of people assert morally unwarranted dominance over another. In his letter, Down At The Cross,
Baldwin refers to his father as an emblem of a thought paradigm that, in a racial context, is
superficially appealing but ultimately ineffectual.
Baldwin uses accounts of his father s hypocritical actions to symbolize the theme of racial and
religious self righteousness. When Baldwin brings his friend over to his home, his father slaps him
when he learns that his friend is Jewish, and not Christian like himself(37). Baldwin describes on the
preceding page that many Christians believe that black people are descended from Ham, and therefore
are destined to slavery. But, in spite of this Christian

Ethical Behavior Can Be Defined As Business Principals Essay
Synopsis
Ethical behavior can be defined as business principals that involve demonstrating respect for moral
values including honesty, fairness, equality, diversity and individual rights. (WebFinance ) Unethical
behavior mirrors the opposite of ethical behavior; they often lack moral values between right and
wrong. Some examples of unethical business behaviors are falsifying reports, stealing, poor working
environments, illegal trading and employee discrimination. With the growing number of Equal
Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) complaints, this analysis will focus on pregnancy
discrimination. In 2007, Peggy Young filed a lawsuit against United Parcel Service, Inc. (UPS)
alleging her unfair treatment due to her pregnancy is in violation of the Pregnancy Discrimination Act
1978 (PDA), Young states that UPS refusing to accommodate her lifting restrictions is unlawful and is
in violation of her obligated accommodations. The Pregnancy Discrimination Act was ratified in 1978
making discrimination based on pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions (Young v. United
Parcel Service , 2014, p. 2) a form of discrimination against sex, a violation of Title VII Civil Rights
Act. (Silverman, 2014) PDA also states employers must treat women affected by pregnancy the same
for all employment related purposes as other persons not so affected but similar in their ability or
inability to work (Young v. United Parcel Service , 2014, p. 2) . United Parcel Service,

INTRODUCTION
For decades, high inflation has always been a potential threat to the macroeconomic stability and long
term economic growth in the world. Central banks have been modelling strategies to tackle the general
price instability in an economy. Different models have been adopted to predict general price levels,
maintain a favorable inflation rate and promote economic growth. This can be achieved by ensuring
that the economic variables are properly regulated by committed and reliable financial institutions in a
state. Getting the model and monetary policy right is crucial for the health of an economy. Overly

was a meeting that was healed in Switzerland with over a hundred diplomats form a handful of nations
to originally discuss the Cold war with Berlin and Korea. The battle of Dien Bien Phu had gotten
thrown into the conversation, for a large scale meeting, France had announced their withdraw of
troops in Indochina (Jennifer Llewellyn). Later the Geneva Accords were converted into ten

North and South Vietnam. Soon after this had happened both sides needed to host a presidential

Nowadays English has become one of the most used languages all around the world, with this, the
necessity of learning English as a foreign language is one that hundreds of people all around the world

According to the book Teaching English as a Foreign Language, The Communicative approach
advocates that language, first and foremost, as a system for communication .
The communicative approach is based on the idea that learning language successfully comes through
having to communicate real meaning. When learners are involved in real communication, their natural
strategies for language acquisition will be used, and this will allow them to learn to use the language
(Communicative Approach, 2006) .
The questionnaire and interview showed that Saúl needs to focus on his listening and speaking
abilities, his writing and reading skills are good but also need some work to be polished.
Since he stopped his English classes a couple of years ago Saúl has lost any kind of speaking and
listening practice and this has created a sense of insecurity in him getting him to think he cannot speak
English at all. His reading and comprehension skills are not a difficult issue since he barely had any
trouble when answering the questionnaire, except form a couple of words which he asked about the

Hydrogen Bonding
A hydrogen bond is the electromagnetic attractive interaction between polar molecules in which
hydrogen (H) is bound to a highly electronegative atom, such as nitrogen (N), oxygen (O) or fluorine
(F). The name hydrogen bond is something of a misnomer, as it is not a true bond but a particularly
strong dipole dipole attraction, and should not be confused with a covalent bond.
These hydrogen bond attractions can occur between molecules (intermolecular) or within different
parts of a single molecule (intramolecular).[1] The hydrogen bond (5 to 30 kJ/mole) is stronger than a
van der Waals interaction, but weaker than covalent or ionic bonds. This type of bond can occur in
inorganic molecules such as water and in organic molecules like DNA ... Show more content on

For example, the central interresidue N−H···N hydrogen bond between guanine and cytosine is much
stronger in comparison to the N−H···N bond between the adenine thymine pair.[11]
The length of hydrogen bonds depends on bond strength, temperature, and pressure. The bond strength
itself is dependent on temperature, pressure, bond angle, and environment (usually characterized by
local dielectric constant). The typical length of a hydrogen bond in water is 197 pm. The ideal bond
angle depends on the nature of the hydrogen bond donor. The following hydrogen bond angles
between a hydrofluoric acid donor and various acceptors have been determined experimentally:[12]

Photoautotroph And Autotrophs Similarities
Autotrophs and heterotrophs are two different organisms that have distinct traits that differentiate them
from one another. Autotrophs produce their own food for their energy while heterotrophs are
dependent on other organisms for their food, due to this autotrophs are known as primary sources on
the food chain level while heterotrophs are the secondary and tertiary sources due to their reliance on
autotrophs. Autotrophs are separated in two groups, photoautotrophs and chemoautotrophs, an
example of a photoautotroph is algae, photoautotrophs collect their energy from sunlight, carbon
dioxide, and water. Iron Bacteria is an example of a chemoautotroph, chemoautotrophs derive their
energy from oxidation, which is the process of gaining oxygen. ... Show more content on

How Princess Culture Is All Round Us
Princess culture is all round us, whether we realize it or not. Princess culture incorporates many
downfalls to women. We have all grown up with the pressures of this culture. Women are viewed as
lower than the man, having to struggle in a male dominated society. Stereotypes, racial issues and
marginality are just a few predicaments that women had been portrayed as, in the world of the princess
culture. Many Cinderella stories have been told in many different cultures that come from all around
the globe. Rob Baum correctly stated, Folktales had their origins in oral accounts, stories told by
people before the advent of writing, or before someone determined them worthy of literary

Another stereotype taught from Disney is that men are saviors. In Rapunzel, she is saved from the
tower by a man. In the Lion King, Simba returns to his pride to save, what is left of his father s pride,
which is shown to be mostly females, A scene in this move, Nala tells Simba that he is their only hope
signifying that a man can only save females. Hercules stereotypes that men must be hot, buff and
white. During the movies, Snow White and Cinderella, the women are forced to do chores such as
cooking cleaning. When there is a woman in charge, back to The Little Mermaid, the sea witch Ursula,
had just about as much power as Kind Triton, but she was portrayed as evil. Jessica Rose pointed out,
The perception of women are either weak victims in a male dominated society or evil and corrupt
when in a position of equal or higher status (Prezie).
The story of Cinderella has many different versions, from all dissimilar cultures. As we know our
Cinderella, the story contains many females. The stepmother, stepsistes, the fairygod mother, and
herself. Cinderella only gets her happily ever after due to her natural beuty and being able to stomp
over the ones who tried to conceal her. This demonstrates that females compete with each other to
have the marital status they want. Cinderella wins, because she pretends to be something she is truly
not. In an article Laure Liddle wrote, she theorizes, It is vital that Cinderella must impress her

The Extinction Of Homelessness Essay
The Extinction of Homelessness
As 2016 has begun to come to an end. Most families in America are focusing on the presidential
election, planning year end events or even establishing resolutions for the new year. While the
invisible part of most cities population is faced with a pivotal decision. How will I survive a brutal
winter without proper housing? On the surface this may appear to be an uncomplicated matter, to the
casual eye, but it is genuinely a painstakingly complicated matter. Communities worldwide are
relentlessly attempting to deal with overwhelming amount of homeless citizen and trying to decipher
the possible causes, so that an effective long term remedy can be achieved. Possibly it is the perfect
moment to embrace a new fangled innovative way that will contribute to the radicalization of this
rapidly developing crisis. By taking a proactive approach it is possible to terminate this deplorable
situation.
Defining Homeless ness
Homelessness is defined in many ways. Most people have a different perspective on the definition of
homelessness. Based on U S Codes The general definition of homeless, homeless individual, and

and 9 where the poet describes it as ...coast of my world....waist of America. Through the use of the
word mu in the 8th line, it is evident that the persona in the poem is Pablo hence recounting events
experienced in a colonial error marred by killings and social injustices against Latin Americans. There
are multiple perpetrators such as Coca Cola who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, most of the Stanza and the 10th line focus on introducing the reader into the problem and
the perpetrators of the violence. The use of religion is not only symbolic to the inevitable suffering of
the Latin Americans at the Poets country but also is ironical to the end times which marks massive
violence acts against humanity. The aspect is brought to form by the last two lines which liken the
treatment of the Indian bodies being killed as rotten fruits, thrown in a pile of garbage. The words
rotten and garbage bring out the ugly scene of dead bodies surrounded by flies that feed on the
decomposed material, an immense feeling of empathy towards the dead. Another vice presented by the
Poet is the connotation which depicts the back air of the suffering and torture the Latin Americans go
through at the hands of the United Fruits Company. For example, in lines 12, 19, 23, and 25, words
such as sleeping dead, dictatorship, submissive blood, and tombs are used to indicate the aura of death
surrounding the setting of the poem. In some instances such as line 26, the word flies is used to refer
to people who are present in various caliber under the rule of the company to drain the resources of
locals and manipulating them authoritatively to provide forced labor. The nature of this description is
evident in the 28th

Essay On Russia
Russia denied its involvement in the fighting in Eastern Ukraine. In the beginning, one explanation
was that Russian soldiers turned up in Eastern Ukraine by mistake. When a group of Russian
paratroopers was arrested close to Mariupol, the Russian news stated they patrolled the border and got
lost (Bercean, 2016, Reisinger and Golts, 2014: 6). According to Bercean, Russia utilized the tactic of
plausible negation. For example, Putin himself answered a question regarding the new uniforms the
unidentified soldiers were wearing. He said that those uniforms could be bought from any second
hand store. This tactic may not demonstrate western strategy when using rhetoric, but it does
showcase the willingness of Russia to use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A news agency called Pravda.ru released an article regarding Kiev and its supporters.
Those who support this Genocide [sic], the US EU Nato, should stop shedding crocodile tears when a
civilian aircraft is downed. They are the ones whose support to the Kiev fascists made this tragedy
possible and even inevitable. (McIntosh, 2015). Because of this article and many others like it, Putin
and Russia are taking actions that are undermining and delegitimizing the West and the international
community as a whole. Even as the West are condemning obvious overstepping of boundaries,
international laws, and norms, the West are unable to act as decisively as they should. Putin justifies
his deployment of troops into Ukrainian territories under the guise of liberating and defending ethnic
Russians. This article is a more direct information attack on Ukraine and its supporters. However,
there are different ways that information warfare has been utilized. Russian fed the propaganda
machine to not only influence Ukraine, but also Russia itself and the Near Abroad. Campaigns about
how joining the EU would require candidate states to openly accept gay marriages were intended to
take advantage of their historical conservatism to nudge them away from the EU. The truth of the
matter is that nothing on the EU s website implies the stipulation of having to adopt gay

Symbolism, And Personification In Thanatopsis By William...
In the poem Thanatopsis by William Cullen Bryant, he uses many literary devices such as
personification, symbol, and simile to reveal the meaning of the work. The meaning of the poem is
most easily stated that, people should approach death pleasantly. With each device Bryant uses, he
intricately places them in the writing as well as has them frame the poem. This is what makes
Thanatopsis so easy to understand even though the author is using such cultured ideas. His ability to
portray the meaning through these devices shows the sophistication of his writing as well as his
thoughts. By using these literary devices, the audience better comprehends how vital it is to learn the
meaning. Bryant uses personification throughout the whole poem with the use of nature to help the
audience s minds comprehend the goal of the writing. The poem gives a lady the role of Nature and
She has a voice of gladness, and a smile And eloquence of beauty; and she glides Into darker musings,
with a mild And healing sympathy that steals away (4 7). This quote is demonstrating that the lady
glides into the sad thoughts of dying people and brightens them up. Also, to let them know that she is
there to support them when they are afraid of death. By giving Nature a personality it makes the poem
more relatable and comforting which works with the meaning of a pleasant death. Bryant uses Nature
to calm our worries of death. Almost like the idea of Mother Nature, which is usually related with

Public School Vs. Home Schooling System
In society, people have their own techniques of teaching and learning. Parents have their own
preference on whether they want their children in a public school or home schooling system. They
have to look at the advantages and disadvantages that come with making the right choice for their
child s education. Being home schooled, does not give the child the ability to be around new people.
Some parents cannot afford for their child to be home schooled, and choose to have them enrolled in
public school. Having students in a public school has a better learning aspect and more affordable.
Parents have to look at the optimistic choices that come out of their child attending a Public school.
Public school is a place for students to interact and communicate with their peers. Students learn how
to act with their friends, either in a negative or positive manner. They have to learn to associate with a
diverse culture of people. Children have to understand different personalities because everyone is not
the same. Parents have to be willing to let a child go out and find their personality and some freedom.
A public school offers advanced learning and skills for children of all ages and disabilities. Public
school allows students to have full attention and extra help from their teacher. Especially if the child is
having problems at home, they have another adult person they can look to for help. They are given
counselors that are specialized to assist students with their difficulty either

Crookshank Narrative
Kiara! Wake up! My twin brother, Kyle, yelled from downstairs. As if I m going to listen to him. My
blankets have finally accepted me as one of their own and if I leave now I might lose their trust. The
bedroom door swings open. The movers are here and need to get the boxes from your room. 5 more
minutes. I mumble into my pillow. Suddenly I m lifted out of my bed and set down on the floor. You
re going to pay for that. Ohhh I m so sca Daddy!!! My screams echo around the house. That one
simple word sent my brother running. Getting changed is too hard, PJ day it is! Stuffing the change of
clothes I had out, I grab my blue paint splattered backpack. To the car. With my backpack on and
pillow and blanket in hand, I sit my bottom on the top stair and slide down. ... Show more content on

It is a place where flowers smell of Chanel and Givenchy; and trees bear diamonds and rubies, where extravagant living is a reality; and thin women walk down the many streets with hot cups of espressos every fraction of a second. And this industry is not just the fourth largest in the world, but also the most loved! Millions have found livelihood here. Millions try everyday to find their place. And the options for them are many designer, model, photographer, choreographer, stylist the list is endless! But is it as simple as it looks? Another former intern at Alexander McQueen sued the company recently for exploiting her and making her do art works for embroideries and dyeing fabrics for free. (The Guardian, February 17, 2014) In reality, the very concept of unpaid internship is faulty. To survive in expensive cities like New York or Los Angeles and pay out of your own pocket for food, accommodation and transportation while you work forty hours a week for free is both unrealistic and impractical, unless, of course if you have the financial backing. But that means that fashion internships are just for the rich as a middle class household definitely doesn t have the budget for it. So does this imply that only if you have the money, you get a good internship? A survey by NACE which came in The Wall Street Journal says, 60% of 2012 graduates who worked a paid internship got at least one job offer, while just 37% of those in unpaid gigs got any offers. That s slightly only slightly better than the offer rate for graduates who skipped internships entirely, at 36%. Without a job surety, interns are walking aimlessly knocking on every door to just get in. Interns are not even considered as employees although in most small scale companies they make up a major part of the working force. What is wrong in the system is that the ones who ... The third strategy, focus is when a firm chooses a narrow segment within its industry and tailors its offerings (strategy) to that segment (Porter, 1980). Focus strategies involve achieving cost leadership or differentiation within niche markets in ways that are not available to more broadly focused players. Finally, Porter labels firms that follow each generic strategy, but do not achieve any of them as stuck in the middle . Porter asserted that the three strategies were distinct mutually exclusive alternatives. He argued that firms may be able to successfully pursue more than one of these strategies simultaneously, but this is rarely possible. (Porter, 1980: 35). A firm which failed to follow one of the strategies was stuck in the middle, which guaranteed the firm low profitability. This objective of this paper is to thoroughly explain the three generic competitive strategies as presented by porter. It focuses on reconstructing the state s economy and its government using the SMART simple, moral, accountable, responsive and transparent governance argument. He characterizes globalization into three narratives; the rationalist, historical materialist and the constructivist approaches. Each narrative consists of many theories some of them disagreeing with each other but at the end of the day, each narrative is united through shared models of understanding and explanation that seeks to go beyond the international to access the global (Muppidi, 2004, p.3). Neisseria gonorrhoeae uses a type IV pilus (twitches, forms bundles and able to take up DNA) to anchor itself at the infection site. The pilE gene has been found to be the main factor for adherence to epithelial cells. In a study, missense mutations of the pilE gene revealed altered fiber morphology. PilE mutants had a defect in filament assembly, hence, less adherence to human epithelial cells. In a wild type sample there are significant interconnections of cells, then compared to a sample with a missense PilE polypeptide, we can see reduced interconnections of the cells and filamentous structure. These defects only are expressed when the pilT gene is activated. • 23. Hierarchal Mentality In Down At The Cross By James Baldwin James Baldwin s essay, Down At The Cross emphasizes the importance of treating all people equally rather than adopting and perpetuating racially hierarchal mentalities. Baldwin describes the complicated dynamic he had with his father growing up, in the context of this human thirst for hierarchical dominance that is depicted in Baldwin s father. Baldwin suggests multiple times that he and his father s relationship is dysfunctional as a result of his father s infatuation with having power over him. A similar infatuation with domination and power is also notably prominent in the people who have racially oppressed Baldwin s father in his lifetime. Not only does this mentality demonstrate hypocrisy, but it also demonstrates the endless cycle of oppression that occurs when one person or group of people assert morally unwarranted dominance over another. In his letter, Down At The Cross, Baldwin refers to his father as an emblem of a thought paradigm that, in a racial context, is superficially appealing but ultimately ineffectual. Baldwin uses accounts of his father s hypocritical actions to symbolize the theme of racial and religious self righteousness. When Baldwin brings his friend over to his home, his father slaps him when he learns that his friend is Jewish, and not Christian like himself(37). Ethical Behavior Can Be Defined As Business Principals Essay Synopsis Ethical behavior can be defined as business principals that involve demonstrating respect for moral values including honesty, fairness, equality, diversity and individual rights. (WebFinance ) Unethical behavior mirrors the opposite of ethical behavior; they often lack moral values between right and wrong. Some examples of unethical business behaviors are falsifying reports, stealing, poor working environments, illegal trading and employee discrimination. The Pregnancy Discrimination Act was ratified in 1978 making discrimination based on pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions (Young v. United Parcel Service , 2014, p. 2) a form of discrimination against sex, a violation of Title VII Civil Rights Act. (Silverman, 2014) PDA also states employers must treat women affected by pregnancy the same for all employment related purposes as other persons not so affected but similar in their ability or inability to work (Young v. Hydrogen Bonding A hydrogen bond is the electromagnetic attractive interaction between polar molecules in which hydrogen (H) is bound to a highly electronegative atom, such as nitrogen (N), oxygen (O) or fluorine (F). The name hydrogen bond is something of a misnomer, as it is not a true bond but a particularly strong dipole dipole attraction, and should not be confused with a covalent bond. These hydrogen bond attractions can occur between molecules (intermolecular) or within different parts of a single molecule (intramolecular).[1] The hydrogen bond (5 to 30 kJ/mole) is stronger than a van der Waals interaction, but weaker than covalent or ionic bonds.
