The Stock Market Crash And The Drought
Growing up in a period of extreme poverty could only allow for the future to become brighter.
Although the Great Depression had many causes, the main two are the Stock Market Crash and the
drought. Because of these factors, many lives were changed for the worse. Families suffered losses
of money, lack of food, and relocation. Mentally, socially, and physically affecting the children, the
Great Depressioncreated a generation of embarrassed, uneducated, and malnourished individuals.
The 1920s was a period that allowed people to purchase things using credit, but it eventually
caught up to them. The market rose quickly and individuals could not handle the sudden changes,
resulting in debt. Factories began firing employees and cutting back on production and at the
same time, investors began selling stock, causing prices to fall, leading to Black Tuesday . While
this was taking place, the drought affected the other half of the population. Farmers were unable to
farm the hard, dry land, which forced them to relocate to make money or find better land. When the
economy took a turn for the worse, many individuals, especially children, allowed it to overtake
their minds and play games.
The mental impact from the Depression on the youth was among the greatest effects. A majority of
children became depressed during this horrifying time frame. There were extreme changes in food
and movies, which would create a weekend of sorrow for the children (Horowitz 679). The children

Bandura Social Learning Theory
Social learning theory (SLT), developed by psychologist Albert Bandura in 1977, laid the
framework by which people learn by observing a set of behaviors believed to be acceptable or
unacceptable (Wulfert, 2016). To further understand SLT, this paper discusses the concepts and
principles behind Bandura s theory, reviews its contribution to human behaviors, critiques it, and
considers the roles social learning plays in diversity, as well as in equality in economic and social
justice.
Social Learning Theory s Main Concepts and Principles SLT is grounded in the fact that humans
acquire behaviors throughout their lifetime by acquiring knowledge through observation and
modeling. People socially influence each other through their interactions, and typically change their
desirable behaviors due to positive or negative outcomes observed (Nabavi, 2012). Bandura notes
the fundamental elements of SLT include interaction of both individuals and situations. Learning
the effects of SLT from observing others behaviors and situations can directly influence a person s
choice, as both parts are a result of the other (Hanna, Crittenden, Crittenden, 2013). There are three
main principles Bandura proposed for SLT: a person s ability to learn through observation, self
regulation, and reciprocal determinism. People can learn new behavior through observation; this
can be acquired through direct or indirect observation (Grusec, 1992). This can be seen in Bandura
s Bobo doll experiment, in

The Hotel Of Barton Fink
The Use of Sound as an Alternate Reality in the Hotel of Barton Fink Barton Fink is a film that
has no set plotline other than a writer who experiences writing block in a detached reality in a
hotel. Barton s writer s block could stem from the fact that he believes that he has sold out to
writing screenplays for large movie studios or it may be from all the distractions the HotelEarle
provides for him. The use of background noises within Barton s room and the hotel itself helps the
viewer to see that reality within that room is slightly distorted. Soundthat is perhaps louder than
usual and prolonged moments of silence are ways that create a different atmosphere than the
outside world. With a simplistic sound track that is used sparsely, it helps to keep focus on the
dialogue or the actors onscreen. Barton admits that he chose that particular hotel to give him a
quiet place to work, but of course, many of the problems he experiences seem to come from
there. In this essay I will explain how the sound effects used within the scenes involving the hotel
or the room create a different reality in that space. The first sound heard in the hotel is the
continuous ring of the bell Barton taps to get the attention of the front desk. It goes on for longer
than is realistically possible and is silenced by a light touch. Since it rang for so long, it should
have given Barton a sign that something was different about the hotel he chose to stay at. Looking

Essay about George Washington Plunkitt of Tammany Hall
George Washington Plunkitt of Tammany Hall
Everybody is talkin these days about Tammany men growin rich on graft, but nobody thinks of
drawin the distinction between honest graft and dishonest graft. With this sentence in the first
chapter Plunkitt sets the tone for his short treatise on New York City politics while Tammany Hall
ran the show. George Washington Plunkittwas a senator in New York during the turn of the 19th
Century to the 20th Century. He was very successful in politics, and at one time he held four
offices at once and collected salaries from three of them. G. W. Plunkitt held any one (or more
offices) in Tammany Hall for over forty years. He was a shady politician who took care of his
constituents and his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before civil service reform, elected officials could easily remove anti Tammany city employees
and replace them with Tammany supporters in return for their work during the campaign. This
sort of spoils system encouraged young people to get involved with politics and to love their
country. According to Plunkitt (and he gives many examples) after civil service examinations
young men become anarchists or in the worst case one joins the Spanish army and actually
fights against the same men he used to support and love. Not only did this spoils system
encourage young people, it also helped hold the United States party system together. And that,
according to Plunkitt, would all change if supporters were not rewarded with government jobs
for their work. However, the Civil Service act of 1883 did more to instigate the merit system in
politics than anything else. Plunkitt s arguments against the civil service reforms are amusing but
his generalities make his argument difficult to believe. One would assume that Plunkitt s
motivation for attacking civil service was because of his personal motivation not the reasons
presented in his Very Plain Talks on Very Practical Politics. Plunkitt clearly was a politician for
himself and his supporters, in all he cared very little about the welfare of New York City as a
whole. Other than the curse of civil service, Plunkitt also instructed young men on the tactics and

What Are The Geographical Advantages Of Shanghai
Geographical Factors
Shanghai has inherited geographical advantages compared to other cities in China. shanghai is
located at the T shaped junction along the sea coast and the Changing River. (Zou et al. 2001)
The geographical advantages not only give Shanghai more opportunities to cooperate with foreign
investors, but also give Shanghai more chances to learn about advanced commercial ideas. The city,
therefore, become more international and opened.
Firstly, as a coastal city, Shanghai has attractive areas for economic development and residence due
to their productive natural resources. (Shi et al. 2001). The natural resources near the sea are one
of the most essential factors for a frim to minimize its cost and increase its production.
Secondly, because Shanghai is a coastal city, the method of sea shipping is especially convenient
for Shanghai s factories to import or export goods. Apart from the sea shipping transportation
method, Shanghai plays an important role that connects northern part of China and Southern part of
China. Therefore, both the number of railway lines and the flight lines are relatively larger than
other cities. Firms located in Shanghai are able to find advantages from the convenient
transportation. Moreover, being a bridge to connect the north and the south gives Shanghai more
opportunities to attract firms from all over China to invest in Shanghai.
Furthermore, thirdly, there are many relatively small cities around Shanghai, such as Suzhou,
Jiaxing and so on. Take an example of the relationship between Shanghai and Suzhou, Suzhou
was more developed than Shanghai in the past, however, the war named the Taiping Rebellion
(1851 1864) took over large areas of southern China (Meng 2006) and Suzhou was destroyed by
this war. Shanghai therefore, became the alternative city to develop. Furthermore, these relatively
small cities are not as developed as Shanghai, therefore, many people from these small cities feel
like finding a job in Shanghai due to the more job opportunities in Shanghai. These phenomena
discussed above has provided Shanghai more labor force. On the one hand, the cheap labor force
provided to Shanghai is able to reduce the rural surplus labor, which is also

Stereotypes Of Colorism In Advertising
Do you ever think about how many women of color you see on the cover of Vogue Magazine?
How many happy families of color in commercials? Your answer may be Not really. This is
because in American society, there is a standard that everyone has to meet in order to be
successful, happy and even beautiful. Society contributes heavily to the oppression of young
adolescents of color. According to Oxford Dictionaries.com, Colorism is defined as: a form of
prejudice or discrimination in which people are treated differently based on the social meanings
to skin color. This is probably the reason why you don t see many people of color being portrayed
as successful in commercials. The majority of Americans see beauty as, fair skin, long and straight

Education during slavery was forbidden, because slave masters feared that the slaves would
become smart enough and they would have another Nat Turner Slave Rebellion throughout the
country, specifically the south. The lighter skinned slaves were taught how to read and write
while the darker skinned slaves were out in the fields, getting no form of education. Not only did
this concept make the darker slaves feel even more lesser of themselves, but it also started a self
fulfilling prophecy that is still very present today. In 1712, the infamous William Lynch
delivered a speech on the banks of the James River in the colony of Virginia, named, The Making
Of A Slave. Throughout this letter, Lynch conveys that he has a plan that will control the slaves
and it will last for up to 300 years. He discusses, separating the slaves by intelligence, age, sex,
size of plantations, status on plantation, fine hair and coarse hair, or if tall or short. By making
these differences present, William Lynch quickly created an imperfect social class amongst the
black slaves and black community. In today s society, excerpts from the infamous, William
Lynch s The Making Of A Slave speech are still very prominent in today s society. According to,
Erin Winkler, the author of, Children Are Not Colorblind: How Young Children Learn Race ,
psychological researchers suggests that children, in fact do recognize race from a very young
age, but also develop racial biases by ages three to five that don t necessarily resemble the racial
attitudes of adults in their lives. This just proves that even if some children of color aren t
necessarily taught that light skin may be better or dark skin is ugly, they notice the difference
between the two shades at a young age and what adults say to or around their children, do have an
affect on the way their children think. In the black community, many but not all,

Film Analysis Of Inglorious Basterds
Tarantino intentionally chose to create a film around despising Nazis because Nazis are a
group that all the world agrees to hate, and agree that their actions and beliefs were evil, which
makes Adolf Hitler and the Nazi regime the gold standard of evil, that is why when people are
referred to as Nazis, it s not exactly to say they want to lock Jewish people up, it s because the
word Nazi itself has become synonymous with evil. So, to say Inglorious Basterds is a character
centered historically inaccurate movie that uses war and Nazis as a backdrop to tell a narrative of
evil being subjective. The most important character in this movie is Hans Landa portrayed by actor
Christoph Waltz. The character Hans Landa perfectly portrays how evil can be subjective, speaking
to slash film Christoph Waltz explained the character by saying
I don t think these swastikas are so important to him. It s not so much ego driven, it s just a very
thorough understanding of how the world works. What makes him so intriguing is exactly that;
he s not driven by an ideology. When people say Nazi , it s such a gross generalization, I feel.
And sometimes I feel compelled to say, Well, he s not even a Nazi. Yes, he wears that uniform,
but he doesn t care. Not about Nazi ideology. He s completely unideological. He just understands
how the world turns, and in that way, he s three steps ahead of everyone else . (Stephenson, 2017)

Ban On Advertising For Tobacco Smoking
The topic for this case study is the ethics of government policy in regards to a ban on advertising
for tobacco smoking. On Feb 6, 2001, the Government of India announced they would impose a
ban on advertising for tobacco smoking. Healthcare reports identified smoking tobacco was the
leading cause of preventable deaths. Smoking tobaccocaused cancer, lung disease, chronic
obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD), emphysema and chronic bronchitis. The increase in illness
and death related to tobacco smoking prompted the Indian Government to propose a ban of all
forms of tobacco advertising. Their intent of initiating such a movement was for the welfare of its
citizens. In this paper I will summarize the view points in favor of the ban, the opposing arguments,
the conflict of interest as it pertains to the government in India, and my personal opinion on how it
should be handled within the government.
The following are the view points of those in favor of the tobacco advertising ban in which the
state intervene for the best interest of the citizens of India. The World Health Organization
(WHO) stated, tobacco accounted for over 3 million deaths in 1990, the figure rising to 4.023
million deaths in 1998. A more astonishing fact as described by WHO, it was estimated that
tobacco related deaths would rise to 8.4 million in 2020. Secondly, the tax contribution from
cigarettes only accounted for 0.14% of the G.D.P and the health cost was estimated to 0.21% of the

A Mandatory Aspect When Managing Patients
A mandatory aspect when managing patients is to provide a provisional diagnosis illustrating,
diagnostic uncertainty. Analysis of the mechanism and pattern of injury give an understanding of
obvious, underlying and life threatening traumatic injuries, whilst vital signs and patient
presentation allow for a firm diagnosis. Once diagnosed, an understanding of the pathophysiological
processes, of a particular condition is essential for adequate treatment. The pathophysiological
implications provide a detailed understanding of the immediate and possible long term prognosis.

Being in an intoxicated, physiological state, with an inability to communicate effectively makes
diagnosis complicated. Underlying injuries could exist as his, neurological functioning and pain
threshold has been altered. Nickleston (2012) explains Backward falls on the buttocks cause trauma
to the spine, pelvis, hips, and head .
A provisional diagnosis for this patient s initial contact with the concrete, is a concussion and a
coup contusion due to the blunt trauma and inertial forces he has accumulated. The patient s
physical mechanism of injury is impact loading, which can cause compressive, shearing and
twisting forces on the brains tissue. These injuries are most commonly associated with acceleration
/ deceleration forces and blunt force trauma. His history illustrates a concussion based on the
symptoms, a brief loss of consciousness, confusion, nausea, headaches and feeling sluggish.
According to Bullock and Hales (2013) A concussion is a transient alteration in cerebral function
without structural defect that manifest as a loss of consciousness followed by rapid recovery
(p.195). The patient has suffered structural defects suggesting more severe injuries, coup contusions
of greater size are commonly associated with haematomas.
A secondary provisional diagnosis based on the physical assessment alone, indicates a skull
laceration or contusion, potential skull fracture, and intracranial haematoma. Haemorrhaging due to

A Sociological Perspective
Summary
Economy and State: A Sociological Perspective, written by Nina Bandelj and Elizabeth Sowers,
explains the economic foundation of the state by discussing the governance of property and money,
in correlation to labor and firms, ending in economic development and internationalization
/globalization. Bandelj and Sowers , target audiences for this book seemed to be intended for those
individuals wanting to learn the basics of economics from an economic sociology perspective
allowing readers to broaden their minds, while drawing comparisons from the political economy
and economic sociology. This book was written with clear language for the audience to understand
and comprehend the large amount of traditional economic theory information within its condensed
size, as well as introducing a sense of economic sociology in to the mix. Both Bandelj and Sowers
separate their book into eight chapters: ranging from property and money, labor and firms,
development and the international global economy, before its conclusion. Authors Nina Bandelj
and Elizabeth Sowers, provide a wonderful analysis between economy and sociology by breaking
down the study of economics including the production, distribution, consumption, and exchange of
goods and services and its direct correlation to social networks, cultural reality so to speak, and
political and social forces. The authors address the theoretical perspectives of economy state

Wealth Gap Between Whites And Minorities Essay
Wealth Gap in America America has a lengthy history on how it became the powerful country it is
today, and although its history can be interrupted in many ways (depending who you ask) one
thing that is for certain is that wealth has yet to be distributed equally amongst minorities.
According to the article Income inequality matter; Extreme gap in wealth makes society unstable.
Philip Meyer claims that the wealth gap between whites and minorities has existed since Ronald
Reagans term of presidency (A9). Although Ronald Reagans term ended many years ago the
mistakes that caused this imbalance of wealth (and its aftermath) while he was in office remains
almost if not exactly the same as when the problem initially began (Meyer A9). The wealth gap
continues to target minorities and is affecting our communities at an alarming rate, however, many
attempts have been made to reduce its existence but the factors of income inequality,
unemployment rates and discrimination before and after our recent 2007 recession prevents our
country from eliminating such a toxic problem. The wealth gap is a problem that which the hard
working people of America know very little about. Using Ignorance towards this problem does not
cease its existence of it but rather contributes to growth because it s not being addressed. It s a
problem that seems to affect mainly the minorities of the U.S. population, such as Blacks and
Hispanics. However, not everyone is in the dark about this lingering ever

In general, the civilian population does not know or recognize the difference between an interview

individual. Whichever method used requires planning. An interrogation requires more that
planning, it requires approval. The end goal for the interviewer or interrogate is to secure a

The purpose in conducting an interview is to gather information that may assist, in obtain valuable
facts; eliminating the innocent; identify the guilty; and obtain a confession for what happened in an

Alligator Gar Research Paper
There are over thirty three thousand types of fish that are abundant in most bodies of water. There
are many shapes and sizes of fish from the tiny ones that you can barely see to the monsters that
prowl the waters. Alligator gar have been unchanged over the past 100 million years (Zelenko).
Alligator Gar are prehistoric fishthat have many interesting attributes that are worth knowing.
Alligator Gar or Atractosteus spatula is a freshwater fish that is the biggest out of the seven
types of gar. They are mainly found in North America and Mexico. They live in rivers and lakes
and can sometimes be found in brackish waters and in the Gulf of Mexico. They have long
bodies with a short, wide, shovel shaped bill (Gars). These bills resemble the snout of an
Alligator. Their bodies are covered with diamond shaped scales which create a protective layer.
These scales are not like normal fish scales, they have bone in them and are nearly impossible to
get through. These scales help to protect the fish from one of the only predators it has: Alligators.
Alligator gars have gills like most fish, but what makes them really unique is that they have an air
bladder. They use this to supplement their gill breathing in low oxygen environments (Gars). This
allows them to inhabit waters that most other fish... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Later Model Of God Research Paper
There are two absolutely different models of God during the biblical times. The one that we are
accustomed to because it was passed on to Judaism and Christianity and has been with us ever
since is the later God. The later God is found to be in the beginning of the sixth century of BCE to
the end of the biblical time frame. This Godis considered to be simultaneously everywhere at once.
He is almighty and knowledgeable. He is very powerful and knows everything.
The earlier model of God is found in many texts such as Genesis and Exodus, Joshua, and etc.
Whereas the later model of God is not found in them. The earlier God in contrast to the later God
goes from place to place. He is not everywhere at once. The book gives an example of the story of
Tower of Babel that God states Let us go down and confuse their speech. This indicates that he is
not present there with the people. He is apparently up, perhaps in heaven (midrash), since he states
he has to go down. Another example the book provides entails the story of the Garden of Eden. It
points out two things. First, that God ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the older model is not to be forgotten. Kugel says in some ways it is more sophisticated than the
later model that replaced it. I would respectfully disagree. I think the later model was more
sophisticated. From my understanding, God is everywhere at once. He is powerful and superior
and knows what is happening. I do not believe the earlier version where it states that he is only in
one place and he can so call walk from place to place. I got taught that he is not directly
perceivable but is omnipresent. This is because God causes everything that happens, to

Neural Recording And Processing Of The Neural Signals
Neural Recording and Processing
The most critical element of a Brain Machine Interface (BMI) is the recording and processing of
the neural signal. We use an invasive neural signal recording to achieve higher performance of the
BMI and to obtain better resolution. We will be recording the neural signal on central sulcus
located in the cortex region of the brain. This recording is referred to as Electrocorticography
(ECoG). We will be using subdural grid electrodes (surface electrodes) with 48 contact points
spanning across the upper limb region of the central sulcus. The signal will be picked up by the
electrodes and it will be transferred to the signal processing unit through the encapsulated leads.
The leads will be connecting the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The signal gets amplified, filtered and then get digitised. The digitised data is fed into the decoder.
Signal Decoding
We intend to design a signal decoder as an ASIC. It will perform the decoding of neural signals and
predict the brain s intention to perform arm movements. Though we use multiple electrodes to
record the neural signal, the number of features that can be extracted from the recorded signal is
very less. The neurons in the brain perform a task by sequential generation of action potentials
which are then transmitted to other neurons through the synapse. These action potentials are
referred to as spikes.
The first step in decoding is to extract features from the recorded neural signal. The features we
will be interested are the spikes. The efficient method to detect spikes is threshold crossing. This
is a simple approach where we will setup threshold amplitude and count the number of threshold
crossings across a time bin. Whenever a spike or set of spikes cross the threshold value it is
detected and assigned to a single or a group of neuron. This method does not affect the decoding
performance and has gained acceptance widely. We will adopt the threshold crossing technique to
extract features from the neural signal.
We will identify the spikes detected based on their frequency, timing and location. The information
found is referred to as rate coding, temporal coding and population coding respectively. We will
then classify the spikes based on this

Amarilli Mia Bella Research Paper
Amarilli Reflection (Grade 9)
In my Grade 9 performance of Amarilli Mia Bella , I demonstrated a fair amount of growth from
the beginning of the year (inconsistent tone) to the day of my performance on April 5th 2016
(much more consistent and warmer tone). I was most proud of the warmth and developing tone I
demonstrated throughout the performance. However, I could have worked on proper dynamics,
and matching the dynamics to the words of the song. Based off the marks I got for dynamics
throughout the year of Grade 9 and a bit of Grade 10, I know it is something I struggle with but
indeed, getting better at. With proper support and placement, I will be able to excel with doing
dynamics and ultimately, creating a warmer and cleaner tone. During

The Pros And Cons Of Organic Farming
We pay the doctor to make us better when we should really be paying the farmer to keep us
healthy. (Foodie Food Girl, 2017). Commonly said, one pays for what is received. As seen today,
many of the human population pays more for the health care they receive, than the food they
nourish their bodies with. In reality, if the human population was more diligent in the food they
picked to nourish their bodies they could potentially avoid the expensive medical cost. Organic
crops and products are said to be healthier than non organic crops and products this is typically
determined by the one consuming the products. All though there are various views of which is
more beneficial and less harmful to the body there are many factors and issues to the equation.
Various issues that make up the ongoing controversy over organic versus conventional farming such
as safety, financial impact, and production.
Organic farming is viewed as a safer and more nutritious way of farming and eating. As many may
say it is a personal view of the lifestyle one desires, there are statistics on the matter. Many people
believe that organic food is safer, healthier, grown without pesticides and avoids harmful intensive
farming practices commonly associated with conventional agriculture. (Are organic and non GMO
farming more sustainable than farming using GMOs?,2017). While this all may be true both use
some type of pesticides , while organic farms use organic pesticides that are believed to not be

2015 Background Information Clinical decision support system (CDSS) is gaining increased
recognition in healthcare organization. This is due to an increasing recognition that a stronger
CDSS is crucial to achieve a high quality of patients care and safety1,2. CDSS is a class of

The output can also take a number of forms and can be delivered to a number of destinations at any
time before, during or post interaction with the patient4. CDS is most effective when provided at
the time that the physician is formulating her assessment of the patient s condition and is making
ordering decisions2. CDS encompasses a variety of tools to enhance decision making in the clinical
workflow. These tools include computerized alerts and reminders to care providers and patients;
clinical guidelines; condition specific order sets; focused patient data reports and summaries;
documentation templates; diagnostic support, and contextually relevant reference information,
among other tools. Computer assisted decision support is only acceptable when it allows the
physician to override a system provided recommendation and choose an alternative action2. The
most successful decision support intervention makes complying with the suggested action easy. A
brief rationale is generally provided with the recommendation, and complying with the
recommendation is as easy as hitting the Enter key or clicking the mouse. CDSS can vary greatly in
design and function, undergoing a constant evolution of their scope and application4. The majority
of CDS applications operate as components of comprehensive electronic health record systems,

Female Oppression In The Yellow Wallpaper
Over the centuries, women have been a never ending argument to society. And those incharge of
society have always been men. Men s argument with women has always been the same argument.
Are women even as smart as men? Can women handle what men can handle physically and
mentally? Can they? Or can t they? Women have been classified as property to fathers as well as
husbands, brothers, and uncles through history. Being property meant that what the men or man
says, goes. Female oppression has changed drastically throughout time, but still lingers. In this
story, we see how greatly affected the main character is because of female oppression in its prime;
during the late 18th and early 19th century. Which was the main cause for her losing touch with
reality.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reader is given many clues throughout the whole story as to what is going to happen in the
end. When Jane describes the room at first she says it was a nursery first (Gilman 2) but then she
goes on to say that it has windows are barred for little children, and there are rings and things in
the walls (Gilman 2) and the paint and paper look as if the boys school had used it. It is stripped
off the paper in great patches all around the head of my bed, about as far as I can reach, and in a
great place on the other side of the room low down (Gilman 2). If the room was used for just a
nursery the wallpaper wouldn t have patches in it and the windows wouldn t be barred up so the
reader is able to identify that the room was used for so much more than that. Suess says, there is
a darker side to the ruin which recalls (not so) ancient cells and mental asylums (no page). When
Jane goes insane at the end of the story the reader isn t exactly shocked because they were able to

Women s Influence On The Church Of Women
The role of women in Christianity is directly related to the lack of rights and equality women have
faced and continue to face in society today. Patriarchy and androcentric ideas about God featured
in scripture are the foundation of female oppression despite the several similarities between God
and women. The oversight of women s resemblance to Godis responsible for the oppression of
women in Christianity. Throughout scripture, there is maternal imagery of God in relationship to
their lovefor children, compassion, and ability to provide for others; thus, proving the significance
of women in the church. Without Mothers, the humankind would not exist. Per Christian belief,
God is responsible for the presence of all creatures: the survival of others depends on her initiative
and her industry (Johnson 100). Mothers create children just as God created Adam and Eve.
Another example of God and Mothers co creation is Julian of Norwich s third revelation: that as
truly as our lord God, almighty wisdom, all love, has made everything that exists, so truly he does
and brings about everything that has done (Dutton, 37). This is a prevalent theme throughout
Christianity and is widely supported by theologians. If it is true, God s responsibility of creation is
identical to the strictly biological purpose of women. Unfortunately, when women are either unable
to or choose not to procreate, the fact that maternal thinking is a moral activity leaves these women

These two paintings, both relating to the virgin and the child, are the Master of the Straus Madonna

Antoniazzo Romano s Virgin and Child with Donor (Museum of Fine Arts, Houston), dated c. 1430

The Straus Virgin and Child portrays a woman gazing at the child in her arms as if she is not
actually holding him. As mentioned in the previous paragraph, there is an extreme level of
reverence being related to the child from the virgin, who seems to have almost no personal
relationship with the baby. In turn, the baby seems to be holding a dove in his hand in such a
way that causes him to appear in perfect control of himself complete awareness of his own
actions, despite his evident age. In the times of the middle ages, it was difficult to view Jesus as
a close and personal being because of the current religious system that was in effect. Religion
often acted as a method of conviction and manipulation, therefore, depicting Mary as the virgin
with baby Jesus as the child in a loving embrace was unheard of. Having a personal and loving
relationship with Christ had not yet become accessible. Romano s Virgin and Child with Donor,
on the other hand, was completely different. The virgin is seen lovingly caressing her child with a
gentle touch as the child clings to her in kind. The baby is held upright by the mother, being more
realistic to the apparent age, and seems at perfect peace as he presents the dove in his hand like a
toddler might present a toy. With the coming Renaissanceera, as well as the uprising of the
Protestant Reformation, a relationship with Christ became

The movie titled The Imitation Game directed by Morten Tyldum is based on the true story of
Alan Mathison Turing. This particular movie was inspired by the biographical book, Alan Turing:
The Enigma written by Andrew Hodges. Alan Turing was a mathematician, cryptanalysis, and a
well known war hero. In 1952, he worked at Bletchley Park, Britain s code breaking center, during
the Second World War. Subsequently, he cracked the Enigma, which is an electro mechanical
rotor cipher machine that generates a new code every 24 hours, used by Nazi Germany. A year
later, he also cracked Germany s Naval Enigma, which was an even more complicated design than
the Enigma. This shortened the period of the war by two years, which in turn, saved millions...

Bilbo Baggins Opinion
In this essay I will be discussing my personal opinion on The Hobbit. The story unfolds about a
timid, fearful hobbit embarking on a journey with dwarves who are seeking revenge on a dragon
named Smaug. He took their home and whilst doing so killed many of their loved ones. This
novel is about an ordinary and common person who through strife and persistence becomes a
hero and does extraordinary things. This main character is Bilbo Baggins. Gandalf persuades him
to set off on a great journey in which they will face much peril. In the face of danger Bilbo
overcomes his fear and finds an inner strength which he has never encountered before. This helps
him to finish the journey and proves Gandalf s claim which he made at the beginning of the novel...

The Hobbit is set in Middle Earth, which is a fantasy land created by J R R Tolkien. In this
particular book the middle earth is restricted to the western lands. The story begins and ends in
Hobbiton, a town in the shire. This is a peaceful town where Bilbo is from and is usually
untouched by troubles and dangerous creatures such as trolls and goblins. As the book
progresses the story guides us through the forest of Mirkwood, the lonely mountains, ruins of
Dale, Laketown and of course the Misty Mountains where the dwarves rightful home is located
inside the mountain. I really like the area where this amazing story is set as the land is full of
many interesting and magical places such as the forest of Mirkwood and the elves palace. The
land changes so much throughout the story, it goes through mountains, forests, fields, lakes,
rivers, palaces and kingdoms and this compelled me to read on because I was so entranced by
these amazing regions. The cultural climate is similar to that of England in the Middle Ages as
magic was a powerful force and many believed in the existence of goblins and elves. Altogether
England and middle earth have many parallels. This setting influences the story as it provides an
evil race, which opposes the dwarves, and it influences the magic involved within this book which
plays a massive part in the dwarves fight as without Gandalf s Magic they would not have made it
as far as the misty mountains. I really liked the setting as it enticed me to persist in reading the
book and it added many interesting aspects which influences the story and how the events played

Unemployment And Its Effects On Society
Problem Statement Unemployment is a very important problem that it is not only an economic
issue, but it is related to the social and political issues. Increasing the level of unemployment will
decrease the level of Keynes effective demand that is going to increase the investors uncertainty and
less investments will take place. As a result, the economy as a whole will move from recession to
depression and the unemployment is dramatically increasing. On the other hand, unemployment has
a direct impact on society in a variety of negative ways. A lot of studies found that the level of
crimes and drug users is high among unemployment citizens. The unemployed may consider crime
as an alternative path to earn money. Finally, the high level of unemployment, in most cases, could
lead to instability in the political system due to protest against the existing political system. In
conclusion, unemployment is a complex issue that needs a lot of work to solve it. The full
employment economic society is a precondition behind economic stabilization and prosperity. This
dissertation takes the position that relying on the private sector to solve the problem of
unemployment is historically not possible. Therefore, the government intervention towards solving
the problem of unemployment is necessary. The government s responsibility is filling the gap of
unemployment by investing in projects that are usually not handled by the private sector due to
small margin of profit and high level of

The Pros And Cons Of Charlie Gordon s Knowledge

can be retained or is ignorance bliss when it can t? Knowledge is really good, even if it is only for a
little while, even if it is retained for a short period because people know what the world is, even
when that knowledgeis lost, people will retain a certain understandingof the world before they
unlearned it. Some say Knowledge is a wonderful tool in life, but if a man acquires knowledge, but
soon unlearns the knowledge yet understands how the world should be, and then loses it, ignorance
is bliss so the man does not know how people treat them in bad ways, and it shall stay that way

The Habits Of The Polar Bear
The polar bear is a large bear that lives in the north. They are the second largest bear in the bear
family, and they have a unique white fur that differentiates them from the rest of the bears. This
white fur is not only their unique characteristic, but also an amazing tool that God has given them
so that they can survive in the wild. In order to better understand polar bear, one must understand
their habits, their characteristics, and the dangers they are facing.
First of all it s a question that everyone has, what do they eat? Their diet depends on high fat
content in seal fat, this is one of the few stuff that can provide them enough calories to maintain
their survival and to pass down their genes. They usually eat seals. Ringed seals are eaten by the
females and little ones, and the males hunt the bearded seals, which are bigger than the ringed
seals. In the good times when they have access to much food, they may eat only the bladder and
the skin of the seal because that s the fattest part. However, when times are not that good, they
will also eat other stuff if it is available. They will hunt whales if they are trapped, they will also
accept small animals and any carcass within their reach. Unlike some bears, they don t have the
habit of storing food. After they finish eating, they will leave the rest of the body for scavengers.
Sometimes the scavengers might be other polar bears that failed their hunt. It is also very common
for them to share food. Once, a scientist

Hunter Thompson Gonzo Journalism
The excess use of guns, booze, and too many drugs to count easily summarizes the life and writing
of Hunter S. Thompson. The American culture of the 1960s began to alter with the hippie
generation, and the same old drab writing was not fulfilling the desires of the American reader.
During the 1970s, American literature and journalism transformed in a way that no one would have
ever been able to predict. Thompson found a way to turn the tables, and effected generations to
come in a new dynamic writing style that many authors and journalist nowadays adopt. The life and
writing of Hunter S. Thompsonhad great influence on the creation of gonzo journalism, politics,
and American culture. Even after forty years, Hunter S. Thompson s creation of gonzo journalism
became a fashionable style of writing that remains impersonated. Gonzo journalism has numerous
different characteristics; one of the most predominant is writing as a triple agent. To write in this
style one becomes the biographical author and a narrator at the same time. In a journal from Olga
Fayzullina she describes gonzo journalism as, The author s position is always dual, on the one
hand, he is an observer and witness of real events, on the other hand, and he is an active participant
who shows the high degree of reflection and self reflection. (276). Furthermore, another key to
gonzo journalism is the use of fact and fiction integrated together to portray a desired message to
the reader. The use of gonzo journalism

Building A Resort On Great Lake
Goals and Communication Objectives: The goal of this project is to obtain city approval to
build a resort on Great Lake, located in Great Lake City, Wisconsin. The project will bring in a
large annual revenue and also create jobs for the city, unfortunately the project will effect a rare

three objectives in mind. First, to create awareness that the land has been sold to them to at least
70% of residents. Second, to create a positive company image to the more than half of the residents
within one to two months. Last, to change the attitude of those who are against construction
because it could hurt the waterfowl and sway people beliefs that the resort will be beneficial to
Great Lake Cities economy.
Key Publics: The primary figures that Great Northern will be concerned with while trying to win
approval for the resort is the 5 member zoning commission and the separate 9 member city council.
These organizations will be the main source Great Northern needs in order to gain approval, and it
is ultimately their decision. Although, both groups will most likely want to hear public input on the

American Heart Association
Although the Western States Affiliate s (WSA s) organizational model successfully increased
fundraising revenue for the American Heart Association (AHA), the task force s initiative to adopt
this structure and strategy at a national level indicates a lack of understanding of the AHA s overall
vision and business strategy. If the AHA wishes to achieve even greater success while continuing to
maintain its long standing strategy of raising funds for research and community education, it should
focus on developing a hybrid organizational structure, improving operational efficiency and
strengthening its community participation. While the new WSA organizational structure proved
successful in increasing fundraising revenues, certain design... Show more content on

By improving operational efficiency, AHA will be able to achieve greater long term success.
The AHA would benefit from multiple lateral processes that would help execute on its strategic
vision as well as day to day operations. An American Heart Walk event in Texas, for example,
would use the WSA s model with a specialized CED overseeing event execution, but prior to that,
EVPs and SVPs from several regions, by nature of their dual responsibility structure, would
leverage the knowledge gained from AHW events across the entire country. At the same time, the
community liaison, a new addition to the local office, would also benefit from the strategic
coordination across all AHW events and would better represent the common vision and goals of the
AHA. A second lateral process that promotes operational efficiency is e coordination. A central
repository of volunteers, donors, event planning specifics and a detailed community profile will be
a very valuable asset to the AHA. For example, having information on the fund raising and
educational programs that were successful in an affluent community in one geographical region
will provide focus when pursuing a similar community in another part of the country. Collaboration
with local organizations also becomes easier when pre existing relationships across the country may

Hippolyta Plot
There are multiple interconnecting story arcs in this play. The exposition of the story is when
Hermia is on trial for defying her father s wishes, as well as when Duke Theseus proclaims his love
to Hippolyta. The rising action is when the four youths run away from Athens, when the
Mechanicals are introduced, and both groups encounter the fairies. The climax is when the four
youths quarrel over the lovespells, as well as when one of the laborers has his head replaced with
that of a donkey by Puck. The falling action is when the major human characters in the woods have
their magical predicaments fixed by the fairies (the youths join into two couples, Bottom s head is
restored to its normal condition). The denouement is when the Mechanicals put on the play for the
Theseus and Hippolyta s wedding, and all of the conflict is resolved in each plotline.... Show more

antagonists are the adult figures who dissaprove of their romance. The protagonists of the arc of
the Mechanicals are the laborers who seek to put on a show for the Duke and Queen, while the
antagonist is Puck, who is magically interfering with them for his own amusement. The protagonist
of the arc of the fairies is King Oberon of the fairies, who seeks to revive the love with his wife,
Titania. The antagonist is Puck s misapplication of the love potion, which causes her to fall in love

The Second Example Of The Benefits Of Military Intervention
The second example of the benefits of military intervention is shown during World War II which
started in 1931 when Japan Invaded Manchuria. The War involved virtually every part of the
world, split up into two groups, the Axis, and the Allies. The Axis consisted of Germany, Italy,
and Japan, and the Allies consisted of France, Great Britain, the United States, the Soviet Union,
and China. During this time Germany was under the power of dictator Adolf Hitler, who was
determined to invade and occupy Poland because of the number of infantry divisions it had.
Though invading Poland would be in violation of the peace treaty that was previously signed by
Germany and the Soviet Union in order to prevent the invasion of Poland and form an... Show more

German Jews were not allowed to own wireless radios, preventing them from being kept in the loop
of what is happening locally and throughout the world. By the time Nazi Germany and the Soviet

Descriptive Essay On The House
The back door of the moving truck slammed shut, making me slightly jump gasping in surprise. I
turned in my seat and look at the house, I ve lived my whole life in. Gloomily I stare
remembering all the happy and sad times I ve had here. come on Kate stop thinking such sad
thoughts the new house is going to be great, I said clapping my hands over my face. The cab
driver turned the ignition key, and the cab rumbled to life. We start rolling forward down the
street behind the moving truck. Watching the houses move past me slowly lulling me to sleep.
I close my eyes slipping into the comfort of sleep. HEY wake up we re almost there the cab
driver halfway yelled in his gruff voice. I pop up looking curiously around me. My face crumples
up in concern. I look out the window and I see no houses. Then, suddenly I see in the distance
two houses, one on either side of the street. We pull up to the houses and the cab pulled into the
driveway of one of the house. The moving truck stops on the side of the road I get out of the
cab. I stared unbelievably at the house that we stopped at. I walk inside and look around. The
house is already furnished. The furniture is clean and looks like it hasn t ever been used. By the
time I get outside to help get boxes from the moving truck. The taxi, truck, and all the people are
gone, leaving the few boxes of my stuff in the driveway. I carry the small boxes into my bedroom.
Starting to organize my stuff I hear what I believe to be the doorbell.

Critical Race Theory Essay
Firstly, when it comes to describing women that are non white, different terminology is used by
different authors or researchers, however in doing so this generally creates inconsistencies and
in some form it loses value. For example , the term women of colour can be used to refer to
,African American women, Asian, Hispanic, Native American and Indian ( generally used in the
USA) (Davidson, 1997). Similarly Lee (2014) Refers to African American women as blacks
whereas Duff (2011) refers to south Asian, afro Caribbean and African groups as Blacks On the
other hand. Deakinns et al (1996) cited in Davidson (1997) use the term ethnic minority to
incorporate various ethnic minority groups excluding the world black , Somehow signifying the
issue at Hand.
Therefore in attempt to avoid any inconsistences the term women of African descent will be used to
refer to black women throughout this assignment.
In reference to Hite, (1996), studies have indicated that race and gender are pervasive factors in
career progression and therefore influences opportunities for those who are not of dominate culture .

Founded by Derrick Bell, critical race theory is an academic discipline, which maintains that
American society is still divided in terms of race. CRT states that in terms of race, exists the
oppressors (Whites) and victims (Blacks). CRT contends that America is racist at the core. Many
scholars including Delgado and Stefancic support this as they question the systems that are in place
in America. By examining past and existing power structures, Delgado Stefancic, (2001) conclude
that the nation s legal structures are racist and invalid. These scholars also suggest that the legal
systems and power structures are built upon white supremacy. As a result, they are not neutral or
objective as they support the subordination of people of

  • 2. The Stock Market Crash And The Drought Growing up in a period of extreme poverty could only allow for the future to become brighter. Although the Great Depression had many causes, the main two are the Stock Market Crash and the drought. Because of these factors, many lives were changed for the worse. Families suffered losses of money, lack of food, and relocation. Mentally, socially, and physically affecting the children, the Great Depressioncreated a generation of embarrassed, uneducated, and malnourished individuals. The 1920s was a period that allowed people to purchase things using credit, but it eventually caught up to them. The market rose quickly and individuals could not handle the sudden changes, resulting in debt. Factories began firing employees and cutting back on production and at the same time, investors began selling stock, causing prices to fall, leading to Black Tuesday . While this was taking place, the drought affected the other half of the population. Farmers were unable to farm the hard, dry land, which forced them to relocate to make money or find better land. When the economy took a turn for the worse, many individuals, especially children, allowed it to overtake their minds and play games. The mental impact from the Depression on the youth was among the greatest effects. A majority of children became depressed during this horrifying time frame. There were extreme changes in food and movies, which would create a weekend of sorrow for the children (Horowitz 679). The children would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Bandura Social Learning Theory Social learning theory (SLT), developed by psychologist Albert Bandura in 1977, laid the framework by which people learn by observing a set of behaviors believed to be acceptable or unacceptable (Wulfert, 2016). To further understand SLT, this paper discusses the concepts and principles behind Bandura s theory, reviews its contribution to human behaviors, critiques it, and considers the roles social learning plays in diversity, as well as in equality in economic and social justice. Social Learning Theory s Main Concepts and Principles SLT is grounded in the fact that humans acquire behaviors throughout their lifetime by acquiring knowledge through observation and modeling. People socially influence each other through their interactions, and typically change their desirable behaviors due to positive or negative outcomes observed (Nabavi, 2012). Bandura notes the fundamental elements of SLT include interaction of both individuals and situations. Learning the effects of SLT from observing others behaviors and situations can directly influence a person s choice, as both parts are a result of the other (Hanna, Crittenden, Crittenden, 2013). There are three main principles Bandura proposed for SLT: a person s ability to learn through observation, self regulation, and reciprocal determinism. People can learn new behavior through observation; this can be acquired through direct or indirect observation (Grusec, 1992). This can be seen in Bandura s Bobo doll experiment, in ... • 5. The Hotel Of Barton Fink The Use of Sound as an Alternate Reality in the Hotel of Barton Fink Barton Fink is a film that has no set plotline other than a writer who experiences writing block in a detached reality in a hotel. Barton s writer s block could stem from the fact that he believes that he has sold out to writing screenplays for large movie studios or it may be from all the distractions the HotelEarle provides for him. The use of background noises within Barton s room and the hotel itself helps the viewer to see that reality within that room is slightly distorted. Soundthat is perhaps louder than usual and prolonged moments of silence are ways that create a different atmosphere than the outside world. With a simplistic sound track that is used sparsely, it helps to keep focus on the dialogue or the actors onscreen. Barton admits that he chose that particular hotel to give him a quiet place to work, but of course, many of the problems he experiences seem to come from there. In this essay I will explain how the sound effects used within the scenes involving the hotel or the room create a different reality in that space. The first sound heard in the hotel is the continuous ring of the bell Barton taps to get the attention of the front desk. It goes on for longer than is realistically possible and is silenced by a light touch. Since it rang for so long, it should have given Barton a sign that something was different about the hotel he chose to stay at. Looking into the dull room, the door ... Essay about George Washington Plunkitt of Tammany Hall George Washington Plunkitt of Tammany Hall Everybody is talkin these days about Tammany men growin rich on graft, but nobody thinks of drawin the distinction between honest graft and dishonest graft. With this sentence in the first chapter Plunkitt sets the tone for his short treatise on New York City politics while Tammany Hall ran the show. George Washington Plunkittwas a senator in New York during the turn of the 19th Century to the 20th Century. He was very successful in politics, and at one time he held four offices at once and collected salaries from three of them. G. W. Before civil service reform, elected officials could easily remove anti Tammany city employees and replace them with Tammany supporters in return for their work during the campaign. This sort of spoils system encouraged young people to get involved with politics and to love their country. According to Plunkitt (and he gives many examples) after civil service examinations young men become anarchists or in the worst case one joins the Spanish army and actually fights against the same men he used to support and love. Not only did this spoils system encourage young people, it also helped hold the United States party system together. And that, according to Plunkitt, would all change if supporters were not rewarded with government jobs for their work. However, the Civil Service act of 1883 did more to instigate the merit system in politics than anything else. Plunkitt s arguments against the civil service reforms are amusing but his generalities make his argument difficult to believe. One would assume that Plunkitt s motivation for attacking civil service was because of his personal motivation not the reasons presented in his Very Plain Talks on Very Practical Politics. Plunkitt clearly was a politician for himself and his supporters, in all he cared very little about the welfare of New York City as a whole. Other than the curse of civil service, Plunkitt also instructed young men on the tactics and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. What Are The Geographical Advantages Of Shanghai Geographical Factors Shanghai has inherited geographical advantages compared to other cities in China. shanghai is located at the T shaped junction along the sea coast and the Changing River. (Zou et al. 2001) The geographical advantages not only give Shanghai more opportunities to cooperate with foreign investors, but also give Shanghai more chances to learn about advanced commercial ideas. The city, therefore, become more international and opened. Firstly, as a coastal city, Shanghai has attractive areas for economic development and residence due to their productive natural resources. (Shi et al. 2001). The natural resources near the sea are one of the most essential factors for a frim to minimize its cost and increase its production. Secondly, because Shanghai is a coastal city, the method of sea shipping is especially convenient for Shanghai s factories to import or export goods. Apart from the sea shipping transportation method, Shanghai plays an important role that connects northern part of China and Southern part of China. Therefore, both the number of railway lines and the flight lines are relatively larger than other cities. Firms located in Shanghai are able to find advantages from the convenient transportation. Moreover, being a bridge to connect the north and the south gives Shanghai more opportunities to attract firms from all over China to invest in Shanghai. Furthermore, thirdly, there are many relatively small cities around Shanghai, such as Suzhou, Jiaxing and so on. Take an example of the relationship between Shanghai and Suzhou, Suzhou was more developed than Shanghai in the past, however, the war named the Taiping Rebellion (1851 1864) took over large areas of southern China (Meng 2006) and Suzhou was destroyed by this war. Shanghai therefore, became the alternative city to develop. Furthermore, these relatively small cities are not as developed as Shanghai, therefore, many people from these small cities feel like finding a job in Shanghai due to the more job opportunities in Shanghai. These phenomena discussed above has provided Shanghai more labor force. On the one hand, the cheap labor force provided to Shanghai is able to reduce the rural surplus labor, which is also ... Your answer may be Not really. This is because in American society, there is a standard that everyone has to meet in order to be successful, happy and even beautiful. Society contributes heavily to the oppression of young adolescents of color. According to Oxford Dictionaries.com, Colorism is defined as: a form of prejudice or discrimination in which people are treated differently based on the social meanings to skin color. Education during slavery was forbidden, because slave masters feared that the slaves would become smart enough and they would have another Nat Turner Slave Rebellion throughout the country, specifically the south. The lighter skinned slaves were taught how to read and write while the darker skinned slaves were out in the fields, getting no form of education. Not only did this concept make the darker slaves feel even more lesser of themselves, but it also started a self fulfilling prophecy that is still very present today. In 1712, the infamous William Lynch delivered a speech on the banks of the James River in the colony of Virginia, named, The Making Of A Slave. Throughout this letter, Lynch conveys that he has a plan that will control the slaves and it will last for up to 300 years. He discusses, separating the slaves by intelligence, age, sex, size of plantations, status on plantation, fine hair and coarse hair, or if tall or short. By making these differences present, William Lynch quickly created an imperfect social class amongst the black slaves and black community. In today s society, excerpts from the infamous, William Lynch s The Making Of A Slave speech are still very prominent in today s society. According to, Erin Winkler, the author of, Children Are Not Colorblind: How Young Children Learn Race , psychological researchers suggests that children, in fact do recognize race from a very young age, but also develop racial biases by ages three to five that don t necessarily resemble the racial attitudes of adults in their lives. This just proves that even if some children of color aren t necessarily taught that light skin may be better or dark skin is ugly, they notice the difference between the two shades at a young age and what adults say to or around their children, do have an affect on the way their children think. • 9. Film Analysis Of Inglorious Basterds Tarantino intentionally chose to create a film around despising Nazis because Nazis are a group that all the world agrees to hate, and agree that their actions and beliefs were evil, which makes Adolf Hitler and the Nazi regime the gold standard of evil, that is why when people are referred to as Nazis, it s not exactly to say they want to lock Jewish people up, it s because the word Nazi itself has become synonymous with evil. So, to say Inglorious Basterds is a character centered historically inaccurate movie that uses war and Nazis as a backdrop to tell a narrative of evil being subjective. The most important character in this movie is Hans Landa portrayed by actor Christoph Waltz. The character Hans Landa perfectly portrays how evil can be subjective, speaking to slash film Christoph Waltz explained the character by saying I don t think these swastikas are so important to him. It s not so much ego driven, it s just a very thorough understanding of how the world works. What makes him so intriguing is exactly that; he s not driven by an ideology. When people say Nazi , it s such a gross generalization, I feel. And sometimes I feel compelled to say, Well, he s not even a Nazi. Yes, he wears that uniform, but he doesn t care. Not about Nazi ideology. He s completely unideological. He just understands how the world turns, and in that way, he s three steps ahead of everyone else . On Feb 6, 2001, the Government of India announced they would impose a ban on advertising for tobacco smoking. Healthcare reports identified smoking tobacco was the leading cause of preventable deaths. Smoking tobaccocaused cancer, lung disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD), emphysema and chronic bronchitis. The increase in illness and death related to tobacco smoking prompted the Indian Government to propose a ban of all forms of tobacco advertising. Their intent of initiating such a movement was for the welfare of its citizens. In this paper I will summarize the view points in favor of the ban, the opposing arguments, the conflict of interest as it pertains to the government in India, and my personal opinion on how it should be handled within the government. The following are the view points of those in favor of the tobacco advertising ban in which the state intervene for the best interest of the citizens of India. The World Health Organization (WHO) stated, tobacco accounted for over 3 million deaths in 1990, the figure rising to 4.023 million deaths in 1998. A more astonishing fact as described by WHO, it was estimated that tobacco related deaths would rise to 8.4 million in 2020. Wealth Gap Between Whites And Minorities Essay Wealth Gap in America America has a lengthy history on how it became the powerful country it is today, and although its history can be interrupted in many ways (depending who you ask) one thing that is for certain is that wealth has yet to be distributed equally amongst minorities. According to the article Income inequality matter; Extreme gap in wealth makes society unstable. Philip Meyer claims that the wealth gap between whites and minorities has existed since Ronald Reagans term of presidency (A9). Although Ronald Reagans term ended many years ago the mistakes that caused this imbalance of wealth (and its aftermath) while he was in office remains almost if not exactly the same as when the problem initially began (Meyer A9). The wealth gap continues to target minorities and is affecting our communities at an alarming rate, however, many attempts have been made to reduce its existence but the factors of income inequality, unemployment rates and discrimination before and after our recent 2007 recession prevents our country from eliminating such a toxic problem. The wealth gap is a problem that which the hard working people of America know very little about. • 18. Later Model Of God Research Paper There are two absolutely different models of God during the biblical times. The one that we are accustomed to because it was passed on to Judaism and Christianity and has been with us ever since is the later God. The later God is found to be in the beginning of the sixth century of BCE to the end of the biblical time frame. This Godis considered to be simultaneously everywhere at once. He is almighty and knowledgeable. He is very powerful and knows everything. The earlier model of God is found in many texts such as Genesis and Exodus, Joshua, and etc. Whereas the later model of God is not found in them. The earlier God in contrast to the later God goes from place to place. He is not everywhere at once. The book gives an example of the story of Tower of Babel that God states Let us go down and confuse their speech. This indicates that he is not present there with the people. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The signal gets amplified, filtered and then get digitised. The digitised data is fed into the decoder. Signal Decoding We intend to design a signal decoder as an ASIC. It will perform the decoding of neural signals and predict the brain s intention to perform arm movements. Though we use multiple electrodes to record the neural signal, the number of features that can be extracted from the recorded signal is very less. The neurons in the brain perform a task by sequential generation of action potentials which are then transmitted to other neurons through the synapse. These action potentials are referred to as spikes. The first step in decoding is to extract features from the recorded neural signal. The features we will be interested are the spikes. The efficient method to detect spikes is threshold crossing. This is a simple approach where we will setup threshold amplitude and count the number of threshold crossings across a time bin. Whenever a spike or set of spikes cross the threshold value it is detected and assigned to a single or a group of neuron. This method does not affect the decoding performance and has gained acceptance widely. We will adopt the threshold crossing technique to extract features from the neural signal. We will identify the spikes detected based on their frequency, timing and location. The information found is referred to as rate coding, temporal coding and population coding respectively. We will then classify the spikes based on this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Commonly said, one pays for what is received. As seen today, many of the human population pays more for the health care they receive, than the food they nourish their bodies with. In reality, if the human population was more diligent in the food they picked to nourish their bodies they could potentially avoid the expensive medical cost. Organic crops and products are said to be healthier than non organic crops and products this is typically determined by the one consuming the products. All though there are various views of which is more beneficial and less harmful to the body there are many factors and issues to the equation. Various issues that make up the ongoing controversy over organic versus conventional farming such as safety, financial impact, and production. Organic farming is viewed as a safer and more nutritious way of farming and eating. As many may say it is a personal view of the lifestyle one desires, there are statistics on the matter. • 25. Women s Influence On The Church Of Women The role of women in Christianity is directly related to the lack of rights and equality women have faced and continue to face in society today. Patriarchy and androcentric ideas about God featured in scripture are the foundation of female oppression despite the several similarities between God and women. The oversight of women s resemblance to Godis responsible for the oppression of women in Christianity. Throughout scripture, there is maternal imagery of God in relationship to their lovefor children, compassion, and ability to provide for others; thus, proving the significance of women in the church. Without Mothers, the humankind would not exist. Per Christian belief, God is responsible for the presence of all creatures: the survival of others depends on her initiative and her industry (Johnson 100). Mothers create children just as God created Adam and Eve. Another example of God and Mothers co creation is Julian of Norwich s third revelation: that as truly as our lord God, almighty wisdom, all love, has made everything that exists, so truly he does and brings about everything that has done (Dutton, 37). This is a prevalent theme throughout Christianity and is widely supported by theologians. If it is true, God s responsibility of creation is identical to the strictly biological purpose of women. Unfortunately, when women are either unable to or choose not to procreate, the fact that maternal thinking is a moral activity leaves these women feeling ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Hobbit is set in Middle Earth, which is a fantasy land created by J R R Tolkien. In this particular book the middle earth is restricted to the western lands. The story begins and ends in Hobbiton, a town in the shire. This is a peaceful town where Bilbo is from and is usually untouched by troubles and dangerous creatures such as trolls and goblins. As the book progresses the story guides us through the forest of Mirkwood, the lonely mountains, ruins of Dale, Laketown and of course the Misty Mountains where the dwarves rightful home is located inside the mountain. I really like the area where this amazing story is set as the land is full of many interesting and magical places such as the forest of Mirkwood and the elves palace. Altogether England and middle earth have many parallels. This setting influences the story as it provides an evil race, which opposes the dwarves, and it influences the magic involved within this book which plays a massive part in the dwarves fight as without Gandalf s Magic they would not have made it as far as the misty mountains. In order to better understand polar bear, one must understand their habits, their characteristics, and the dangers they are facing. First of all it s a question that everyone has, what do they eat? Their diet depends on high fat content in seal fat, this is one of the few stuff that can provide them enough calories to maintain their survival and to pass down their genes. They usually eat seals. Ringed seals are eaten by the females and little ones, and the males hunt the bearded seals, which are bigger than the ringed seals. In the good times when they have access to much food, they may eat only the bladder and the skin of the seal because that s the fattest part. However, when times are not that good, they will also eat other stuff if it is available. They will hunt whales if they are trapped, they will also accept small animals and any carcass within their reach. Unlike some bears, they don t have the habit of storing food. American Heart Association Although the Western States Affiliate s (WSA s) organizational model successfully increased fundraising revenue for the American Heart Association (AHA), the task force s initiative to adopt this structure and strategy at a national level indicates a lack of understanding of the AHA s overall vision and business strategy. By improving operational efficiency, AHA will be able to achieve greater long term success. The AHA would benefit from multiple lateral processes that would help execute on its strategic vision as well as day to day operations. An American Heart Walk event in Texas, for example, would use the WSA s model with a specialized CED overseeing event execution, but prior to that, EVPs and SVPs from several regions, by nature of their dual responsibility structure, would leverage the knowledge gained from AHW events across the entire country. At the same time, the community liaison, a new addition to the local office, would also benefit from the strategic coordination across all AHW events and would better represent the common vision and goals of the AHA. A second lateral process that promotes operational efficiency is e coordination. A central repository of volunteers, donors, event planning specifics and a detailed community profile will be a very valuable asset to the AHA. For example, having information on the fund raising and educational programs that were successful in an affluent community in one geographical region will provide focus when pursuing a similar community in another part of the country. Collaboration with local organizations also becomes easier when pre existing relationships across the country may be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I turned in my seat and look at the house, I ve lived my whole life in. Gloomily I stare remembering all the happy and sad times I ve had here. come on Kate stop thinking such sad thoughts the new house is going to be great, I said clapping my hands over my face. The cab driver turned the ignition key, and the cab rumbled to life. We start rolling forward down the street behind the moving truck. Watching the houses move past me slowly lulling me to sleep. I close my eyes slipping into the comfort of sleep. HEY wake up we re almost there the cab driver halfway yelled in his gruff voice. I pop up looking curiously around me. My face crumples up in concern. I look out the window and I see no houses. Then, suddenly I see in the distance two houses, one on either side of the street. We pull up to the houses and the cab pulled into the driveway of one of the house. The moving truck stops on the side of the road I get out of the cab. I stared unbelievably at the house that we stopped at. I walk inside and look around. The house is already furnished. The furniture is clean and looks like it hasn t ever been used. • 50. Critical Race Theory Essay Firstly, when it comes to describing women that are non white, different terminology is used by different authors or researchers, however in doing so this generally creates inconsistencies and in some form it loses value. For example , the term women of colour can be used to refer to ,African American women, Asian, Hispanic, Native American and Indian ( generally used in the USA) (Davidson, 1997). Similarly Lee (2014) Refers to African American women as blacks whereas Duff (2011) refers to south Asian, afro Caribbean and African groups as Blacks On the other hand. Deakinns et al (1996) cited in Davidson (1997) use the term ethnic minority to incorporate various ethnic minority groups excluding the world black , Somehow signifying the issue at Hand. Therefore in attempt to avoid any inconsistences the term women of African descent will be used to refer to black women throughout this assignment. Many scholars including Delgado and Stefancic support this as they question the systems that are in place in America. By examining past and existing power structures, Delgado Stefancic, (2001) conclude that the nation s legal structures are racist and invalid. These scholars also suggest that the legal systems and power structures are built upon white supremacy. As a result, they are not neutral or objective as they support the subordination of people of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
