What have you learnt about
technologies from the process
of constructing this product?
What we used
Creating our media project we used and learnt about
different technologies which contributed to the final
product of our film opening whilst editing. Such as
• Final Cut
• Livetype
• Garageband
• Audiotool
• Motion
• Aftereffects
Final Cut
Using final cut we were able to upload our footage to the
programme and edit it all together. As a group we picked up skills
on how to use tools such as the cross fade pen which we could
fade audio and our clips into each other, e.g. if we wanted to
show ‘time had passed’ or fade out the audio in our film opening
also speeding clips up or down by right clicking them and setting
a speed time. Our media project Learning to use final cut will
contribute to our skills of making media projects and speed up
the process in the future.
Fading audio
and footage
Phones and Communication
As all of us have Iphones in our group we used them
to our advantage.. They allowed us to message each
other if we needed something e.g. Equipment, or
even up coming up with new ideas. Taking pictures
of locations we came across independently and
sending them to each other for opinions on
potential locations we could film at. Communication
is and was vital in making our Film opening, it sped
up the process and allowed all of us to be involved
at once, for example we created a group chat in
which we all came up and agreed on our film
opening and discussed how and what we would film
if one of us wasn't in school that day..
Motion : the application
Using the Apple Macs to create our media product we came across many different
applications we could use, We used Motion to create our institutional logos and
improve the lighting for our footage, Motion and Final Cut work hand in hand
where clips can be sent to motion through final cut and saved straight on to final
cut. On Motion we learnt how to input lights, move them around and make them
apply to our film opening through playing around with them and watching them
back. We also learnt how to create shapes, animate them, make them move and
apply effects through adding behaviours, motion paths, recording movement and
adding things from the library.
Live Type
We used live type to create our titles for our film opening which would
come in and out showing director titles and ect..
In live type I learnt how to use the different effect for texts, sizing,
colours, fonts and timing. This knowledge allowed us to have our
titles coming in fading which created mysterious titles to benefit us
and fit the genre of our film opening. Through Trail and error we had
difficulties with the framing between two different programmes, final
cut and Livetype. The framing for each programme was different and
didn't fit together which made the titles look pixelated.
Garage Band
We used Garage Band to create our music
For our film opening, we learnt to use the instruments, for
example the different keyboards, we used the sound effects
and looped them, the ambient dark drone noise in the
background of our recorded music box which we recorded on
garage band, the tools allowed us to move around the audio
to where we wanted.
Audiotool
At first we attempted to use Audiotool an online copyright free music
tool which you can use in the browser, it allowed us to edit our track
anywhere/anytime with our login, the problem we faced was not
being able to record sound on the application (our musical box) and
edit from there.
But we did learn how to use the online music kit, for future use, such as
• Loops
• Kicks
• Claps
• Machiniste
• Minimixer
• Synths
Using these programmes..
Using these programmes allowed us to change things
quickly and receive feedback, for example changing
the lighting could be done in different ways for e.g.
lighting could be changed though after effects,
motion and final cut.
We could watch our film, spot any errors wrong with it
and change it before the final version was created.

Evaluation: What have you learnt about technology. Ellie v

  • 1. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
  • 2. What we used Creating our media project we used and learnt about different technologies which contributed to the final product of our film opening whilst editing. Such as • Final Cut • Livetype • Garageband • Audiotool • Motion • Aftereffects
  • 3. Final Cut Using final cut we were able to upload our footage to the programme and edit it all together. As a group we picked up skills on how to use tools such as the cross fade pen which we could fade audio and our clips into each other, e.g. if we wanted to show ‘time had passed’ or fade out the audio in our film opening also speeding clips up or down by right clicking them and setting a speed time. Our media project Learning to use final cut will contribute to our skills of making media projects and speed up the process in the future. Fading audio and footage
  • 4. Phones and Communication As all of us have Iphones in our group we used them to our advantage.. They allowed us to message each other if we needed something e.g. Equipment, or even up coming up with new ideas. Taking pictures of locations we came across independently and sending them to each other for opinions on potential locations we could film at. Communication is and was vital in making our Film opening, it sped up the process and allowed all of us to be involved at once, for example we created a group chat in which we all came up and agreed on our film opening and discussed how and what we would film if one of us wasn't in school that day..
  • 5. Motion : the application Using the Apple Macs to create our media product we came across many different applications we could use, We used Motion to create our institutional logos and improve the lighting for our footage, Motion and Final Cut work hand in hand where clips can be sent to motion through final cut and saved straight on to final cut. On Motion we learnt how to input lights, move them around and make them apply to our film opening through playing around with them and watching them back. We also learnt how to create shapes, animate them, make them move and apply effects through adding behaviours, motion paths, recording movement and adding things from the library.
  • 6. Live Type We used live type to create our titles for our film opening which would come in and out showing director titles and ect.. In live type I learnt how to use the different effect for texts, sizing, colours, fonts and timing. This knowledge allowed us to have our titles coming in fading which created mysterious titles to benefit us and fit the genre of our film opening. Through Trail and error we had difficulties with the framing between two different programmes, final cut and Livetype. The framing for each programme was different and didn't fit together which made the titles look pixelated.
  • 7. Garage Band We used Garage Band to create our music For our film opening, we learnt to use the instruments, for example the different keyboards, we used the sound effects and looped them, the ambient dark drone noise in the background of our recorded music box which we recorded on garage band, the tools allowed us to move around the audio to where we wanted.
  • 8. Audiotool At first we attempted to use Audiotool an online copyright free music tool which you can use in the browser, it allowed us to edit our track anywhere/anytime with our login, the problem we faced was not being able to record sound on the application (our musical box) and edit from there. But we did learn how to use the online music kit, for future use, such as • Loops • Kicks • Claps • Machiniste • Minimixer • Synths
  • 9. Using these programmes.. Using these programmes allowed us to change things quickly and receive feedback, for example changing the lighting could be done in different ways for e.g. lighting could be changed though after effects, motion and final cut. We could watch our film, spot any errors wrong with it and change it before the final version was created.
