What have you learnt about technologies from the process
of constructing your product?
 Throughout the process of creating our film opening we used many different technologies to
achieve the final outcome. The things that we used I had some knowledge and knew how to
use them however there were some technologies that I was knew to using and had to learn
as we went along.
Apple Macs and Blogger.
 A key element of creating our film was using the
Macs. We needed the Macs to constantly edit and
tweak elements of our film. The Macs were also
very good for researching any information that we
may need for our film opening. Using the Macs
would help us to make our film look as professional
as possible and improve the quality of them. I hadn't
used one of these before so I had to learn whilst we
were using it to complete our opening. I think using
this will help in the future and I will be able to use
my skills I have learnt.
 We used Blogger to track our progress and to
keep updates of what we were doing relating
to the film. Blogger was a good way to show
the progress we were making when it comes
to making our film. It was a clear way of
showing clips, mood boards and images to
make our posts clearer and more
understandable. For example I learned how to
create and post to a blog.
Premiere Pro and Live type
 Premiere Pro is a program that was used for the
editing our film and creating the sequence of our
clips. The program enabled us to also change
sound levels, lighting levels and insert sound
effects and our incidental music . Premiere Pro
was an easy way to create our film and gave it a
very professional look. Premiere Pro is often used
in the media industry to edit high budgeted films.
This was the first time I had used an editing
program and my first time editing and I found it
very easy to use and I feel like I can use these
skills in other media projects. An example is
learning how to use in and out points when editing
clips.
 Live Type was the program that we used to create
the titles of our film. Live Type enabled us to
download fonts of the internet and add
animations. Live Type let us change the colour of
the text in order to suit our genre of film- we chose
dark red to resemble blood. I had not used live
type before but i found it quite easy to get the
hang of it and also found it simple to insert the
titles into our film opening. I learned how to
download and insert fonts and give them an
animation.
Garage Band and Facebook.
 Garage Band is a program on the Apple Macs that
allows you to create and record your own music
using different musical instruments. We used this
program to create our incidental music we used in
our opening. Garage band enable us to record
several different sounds to layer and build them
on top of each other to create a sequence. We
learnt how to record and create a fluid piece of
music.
 We used Facebook to create a way to easily
contact each other in our group and our cast. We
created two group chats. The first was for our cast
so we could easily message them about times
and any changes we might have made. The
second chat was for our group and it allowed us
to discuss ideas and any problems we may have
with filming or blogging.
After Effects and YouTube.
 After effects was used to create our ident. I used
after effects to insert the image we used for the
ident. I also used the program to insert the trumpet
sound effect so it could add some sound to the
ident. I had never used after effects before and I
found it quite hard to use at the beginning but I
soon got the hang of it. Using this program may
come in useful if I do another media product. I
learnt how to insert an image and add sound to it.
 YouTube was a very good resource when it came
to makingg our film opening. We used YouTube to
watch any tutorials if we needed help for example
we watched a video on how to make fake blood
and how to change the lighting on after effects. We
also used YouTube to upload any videos we
created and any sounds. We had to create our own
account and I found this easy to use. I learnt how
to upload and share my videos via YouTube.
Camera and Tripod.
 To film our opening we used a Nikon D3200.
This camera is a DSLR. We decided to use this
camera because it is my own camera therefore
we didn't need to worry about taking one out
from school. The camera quality is also very
high which means that the opening would have
a high quality finish to it. The camera was very
good for close ups and focused on it well giving
it a clear picture for example it gave us a clear
image of Ton’s close ups.
 For filming we used a Hama tripod. This tripod
was very good as it kept the camera steady.
The tripod also enabled us to pan the camera
easily with not a lot of jolting. The tripod also
helped us to get the right angle of shot and
enabled us to have shots at different heights.
QuickTime Player and Sound Proof room.
 We used QuickTime Player to record some Foley art. We
used the program to also record some voice over's that we
would later use in our film opening. I would use this for
another project because it is a good element to include as
you are making the recording yourself. I learnt how to
record and embed voice recordings into our opening.
 We used the sound proof room at school to
record the Foley art sound effects. We used
this room because it would mean that we would
be undisturbed and there wouldn't be any
ambient sound heard on the clip.
