The target audience for the media product was 16-25 year old males and females interested in chart music, R&B, and hip hop. A focus group with people in the target audience provided feedback to help design a product for this audience. To attract both male and female viewers, neutral colors like black and red were used throughout. While more details were included to attract males, elements like female music idols and a double page female model spread were incorporated to also engage females. The bold, bright red, black, and white front cover was designed to catch eyes amid other magazines in the genre. Featuring the word "exclusive" and a male model in a neutral pose helped attract both genders.
