The document discusses targeting and attracting an audience for a grime music magazine. The intended audience is mainly males aged 16-24. To appeal to this audience, only male models were used in plain colors, promoting success. The magazine aims to appeal to all classes interested in grime music by keeping the price low but feel fresh. It targets those not receiving much attention from other genres by featuring niche music appealing to both young and old. Models are dressed similar to artists to feel up to date and intimidating images are used that appeal to and influence young males.
2. Audience and Attraction
My target audience for my magazine is mainly male based with the age
range going from 16-24. By using my focus group, as I needed feedback
on the potential customers and the age of the target audience and what
they would want from that age group for the style of the magazine. From
the feedback I received grime and rap where the front runners and this is
the genre I chose to base my magazine around. It was ideal as I could find
a model comfortably fitting into that bracket that could appeal to the
market.
3. Audience and Attraction
I attempted to aim my magazine to mainly males, as that is who is
most likely to purchase and read the magazine. I did this by using
plain, strong colours, and by only using males as my models . I had
to stereotype by using just males as this is what males look for and
the magazine is centred to a male based audience. Many of these
men said they related to these images used as they strive to be as
successful as those presented.
The colour red is synomnous with success and the males from my
focus group said success is what they strive for so by having using
these colours I am already appealing to a mass market of males.
4. Audience and Attraction
My magazine is intended to appeal to all classes of audience with a
musical fondness of grime ; as many younger adults will be purchasing this
magazine the price will be kept low to accommodate them but the fresh
feel to it will appeal to those of ‘higher’ status. The magazine will cost in
the region of £2.49.
5. Audience and Attraction
I will hope to be targeting an audience that doesn’t receive as much
attention as other genres, my production includes lots of features for a
market that is specialised. It shows popular music that is not at the
forefront of many peoples minds when thinking about music they listen to,
this just gives the magazine an edge as it appeals to a niche market. The
way the magazine is designed is to show how young and old can combine
in music and thus appeals to a mass market as well as the niche.
6. Audience and Attraction
To entice my audience, I used many different effects to
add diversity to my production such as enhancing the
contrast and using different lighting to add an edge. I
kept it clean and basic as the genre of music reflects
this style. I have also kept the magazine modern
however to keep in with the traditions of the industry.
7. Audience and Attraction
I dressed the models in clothing that is similar to what the artists at the
time are wearing so that the audience can recognise this and feel like they
are keeping up to date with the latest fashion and trends. The dressing of
the models was kept low key as to not detract away from the purpose of
the magazine. Black is a universally worn colour and can in reality go with
any genre, however by getting the artist to look intimating and way he is
presented it fits perfectly in with what I was trying to do.
8. Audience and Attraction
I've used images that will appeal to the
audience and stand out to the crowd
these images are designed to appeal to
males ranging from 16-24 and by
having a man in the image looking
threatening and intimidating appeals to
these markets the reason they appeal to
these markets is because young males
are influenced quite easily and they are
attracted to danger which is why they
are attracted to the magazine.
