- 1. How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages? Amy March
- 2. To create my main trailer I had to use a MAC laptop as this had the sufficient software to create a proper film trailer. The software that was needed was iMovie, I had never used this prior to making my movie so it was completely new to me. I found that the software was easy to use and my knowledge of the programme quickly developed as to how to edit it and add effects and so on and so forth to it. We had a lot of film so we decided it was best to cut down the parts that we didn’t need and use only the bits that we needed too. We chose to use the selections of film that were the ‘scariest’ as this is what is to attract the target audience to our film. This programme allowed us to do this, we were also able to edit the appearance, duration and what sound effects/music we wanted.
- 3. Another software programme that I used was Photoshop and Windows Live Photo Gallery to edit my images that I was to use on my magazine and poster. Having the ability to use such software’s as these was very beneficial because it is one of the most developed forms of new technology. I could edit my images to the specific way in which I wanted them through using these professional technologies. My images looked suitable for the genre of ancillary tasks, I felt that I was able to replicate technologies used by real horror magazines, posters and trailers to create professional looking products.
- 4. I used Blogger in the construction, research, planning and evaluation task. Blogger was a very useful piece of software because it allowed me to save my work at anytime so that I didn’t lose anything. Embedding images and videos was incredibly easy to do, this was a better website to use than any other I had used previously. I also had the added advantage that I had used the website the previous year for my other media task, so I already had the skills to use this technology which was great.
- 5. Another useful technology was YouTube, this is what I used to upload my completed trailer. I was also able to research different music types through this technology to apply to my trailer, this is because it had a wide variety to choose from. It was easy to embed my video straight from iMovie to YouTube, this was useful and not time consuming. Another useful source was dafont.com, this site provided me with a selection of fonts to choose from for my magazine and film poster. Again, I was familiar with this technology because I had used it the previous year when creating my tasks.
- 6. Overall I have no doubt that using new technologies has enabled me to create my media products. The new technologies have been a great help and benefit, I would and will most definitely continue using them, it has been a fun and interesting project. Amy March.
