1. How did you use media technologies
in the construction and research,
planning and evaluation stages?

2. Construction.
Technology had a massive impact to the construction stages of this project. The piece of
technology that was used most during the construction stages is editing technology. There
are a few different pieces of editing technology that I used. One editing software that was
used is photoshop. Photoshop was used to create the band logo which was used for the
facebook and Twitter. It was also used to create the magazine advert and digipak. Sony
Vegas 9.0 was undoubtedly to most important editing softwate that was used during the
construction stages of this project. Sony Vegas 9.0 is what was used to edit the whole video
together.

3. I also used Wix to create a website for the band and for the project, updating it with
progress that I had made throughout the project as proof. Wix is something that I had
not used prior to this project but I was able to quickly pick up how to use it and
created what I would describe as a professional looking website to represent the
band and the project as a whole.

4. Construction Continued.
Another thing that was used a lot during the construction stages is digital cameras.
We used digital cameras to record all of the footage that was used in the music video.
Using a digital camera made filming very simple as it was very easy to use the camera
and then it was also very easy to get the footage from the camera onto a laptop or
computer in order to edit it together to make the music video. Something else that
was used during the construction stages is mobile phones. The advance in technology
means that the majority of mobile phones nowadays have very good cameras on
them, for example my phone has an 8mp camera on it. Whilst we were doing the
location shoot for the project we did not have a camera with us so I used my phone
to take the pictures because I believed the phone took pictures in a high enough
quality that would be acceptable. Using a phone for taking these pictures made it
easier because we did not have to bother borrowing or buying a camera in order to
take pictures.

5. Research & Planning.
During the research and planning stages of the project I was required to conduct
research into the genre that I chose for the music video to find out what sort of
things needed to be put into the video, digipak and magazine advert. To research this
I decided to use YouTube in order to look at similar real life products to get an idea of
what sort of things I needed to include. Using YouTube was very easy because it gave
me direct access to hundreds of songs from the same genre meaning that I could very
easily find out what the genre generally consists of. I did also use many other
websites to research such as Madness’ official website to help me get an idea of what
the band are like. Using the internet makes getting information very easy because it is
simple to type in something and then find out the answers to it very quickly.

6. Evaluation.
For the evaluation stage of the project I have used several different technologies to
present my answers. One example of a technology that I have used is Powerpoint.
Using powerpoint is a very effective way to create presentations to put information
onto. I have also used a website called ‘Prezi.com’ in order to create a different kind
of presentation which allows for more animation to be used. Using a mixture of these
two softwares is effective because it allows me to answer the evaluation questions
with ease whilst still being able to put pictures in as well, giving the reader a more in
depth view of what I am trying to say.
