My evaluation question 2, talking about how my my digipak and poster fit the conventions of something or other. Basically done it so that I can complete the A-level and hopefully get something out of my life which probably won't happen as I have no idea of what I am doing but hey, lets live in the moment and not worry about the future until you're there. Then you can break down and cry as you still haven't figured out what you're doing!

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

3. LOCATION
• The locations in my digipak and poster
are in the same place that my music
video was shot. This therefore makes
them conform to the conventions of
the pop genre. This is because, after
researching other pop artists I have
found that if they have made their
music video outside then they tend to
have the same or similar location on
their digipak and poster. I also chose
to take the photos for my digipak and
poster here as it was a great
representation of the song that I
chose. That being more emotional
therefore showing an open desolate
space to convey this message.
4. COLOURS
For my poster I made
the image black and
white apart from the
sunset. This is so that
it would conform to
the conventions of the
pop genre by having
bright colours
involved. I decided to
have the rest of the
picture black and
white as it fit the
mood of my song
being a bit slower and
more emotional.
The name of the artist, album and
release date are all in white. This is so
that it stands out above everything else
to ensure that they are seen by the
audience. Also, the text size is a lot
bigger than the other icons down the
bottom as it is the most important piece
of information on the poster.
I have made the artist black and
white as well as the majority of the
image. This is so that the audience
can focus more on the sunset and
the information on the poster. Even
though the artist is blending in with
the rest of the picture, he is still the
centre of the attention as he fills up
most of the frame and he would be
well known by the audience.
I have also made the icons of the social media and iTunes black and
white so that they blend in with the image. This is so that they don’t
distract the audience from looking at the artist himself and when the
release date is which could be seen as more important.
5. COLOUR
S
I have kept the same picture of
the poster and made it the front
cover of the digipak. This is to
add continuity between both the
poster and the digipak. The
only difference I have made is I
have removed the icons and the
release date, other than that the
colours are all the same for all
the same reasons.
The bright colours of the sky and the sunset is a
theme that is seen throughout my poster and digipak
as well as music video. This suggests that the more
happy and emotional feel of my song.
I have chosen the colour black for
the text of the songs on the
album. This is so that it stands out
form the background which is of a
brighter colour. This is so that the
audience can easily see the tracks
on the album and the artists that
have produced them as it is quite
an important part of the digipak.
I have followed the same style of
my poster by having part of the
image black and white and the
colourful part in normal colours.
This keeps the continuity
between the digipak, poster and
music video. I have made the
trees and grass black and white
as they were not very colourful
therefore not fitting in with my
theme.
I have also kept the artist in
colour in this image as it shows
his importance. This is often
seen in digipaks of other pop
artists as they are normally the
centre of attention. Also, I have
kept the lens flair in as there are
plenty of colours in the two dots
which fits perfectly with my
genre.
Finally, the colours of the social media icons are in black an white
so that again, they don’t distract the audience from the other
tracks of the album and the picture of the artist himself. I have also
included the copyright and barcode to make it look like a real
digipak. I have positioned these in the darker part of the image as
they are white. This makes them actually visible for the audience
to view.
6. COMPARING POSTERS
AND DIGIPAKS
Posters:
For my print advert/poster I got ideas from looking at other artists
work within the same genre. The general tone I received was that
there were many colours to portray the feel of their songs. Also, the
artist who produced the album or another very famous name in the
album, was mainly the front cover filling up most of the frame.
Therefore, as I wanted my media products to fit the conventions of
my genre I copied the general idea that they all had.
As you can see in Shawn Mendes’ Illuminate print advert there is a
similar theme to mine. The fact that he has similar colours in the way
that they are all bright and there aren’t any dark colours apart from
the chair he is sat on. This could be to show that it isn’t important and
therefore the audience shouldn’t focus on it. This is similar to my
poster as the background of the grey sky and the fields are darker
than anything else, showing that it isn’t important as the rest of the
poster.
As my music video was performance based my star image was the
artist of the song, therefore incorporating this into my poster and
digipak by taking a picture of the artist and having him fill most of the
frame. This is the case for many pop artists, (like Shawn Mendes),
therefore I decided to follow suit as it mean that my poster would be
conforming to the conventions of the pop genre.
7. COMPARING POSTERS
AND DIGIPAKS
Posters:
Focusing on the text of both print adverts, they are very similar. In
both of them the text is quite large with white writing. This shows
that in both, the text is very important due to the size in relation to
everything else. In my poster, the size of my text is a good size in
relation to the artist as it isn’t too overpowering but its still big
enough that its easily noticeable. On Shawn’s poster the text is very
large and possibly even bigger than himself. Showing that although
he is important the information on the poster is as if not more
important.
In most of the print adverts/posters that I researched the font of the
text was rounded and ‘friendly’ as it portrays the type of songs and
genre of the album. I therefore copied this idea so that my poster
could be recognized as a piece of work for the pop genre. In Shawn
Mendes’ poster there is a great example of the type of text that is in
most pop genre posters/digipaks. Its very simple and clear, showing
that the audience shouldn’t expect anything completely different to
anything else from that genre.
The colours of the text are normally lighter colours. In Shawn’s
poster he has used the colours white and a light blue, nothing too
harsh or dark. In my poster I have also used white as it is a very
typical light ‘friendly’ colour to use. However, I have used the colour
black in DJSnake’s name. I have only done this as in is actual
Encore album he has changed the Snake part of his name into
black. I copied this as I representing him and that is what he would
have done.
8. COMPARING POSTERS
AND DIGIPAKS
Before creating my album cover I researched some other
pop artists album covers. This gave me an idea on what to
produce in order for mine to fit the conventions of the pop
genre. Whilst doing my research I found that most of the time
(again) the artist was on the front cover filling the whole
frame. Also, there were a variety of different colours
depending on who and what the artist produced. For
example, with Justin Bieber’s Purpose album there are a
limited variety of colours. This being because of the songs
that are on his album are more emotional rather than jump
up dance music. Therefore, he has appropriately chosen to
go with a darker black and white theme.
In my digipak I have incorporated something similar as the
song that I chose had more of an emotional feel. However, I
have added colourful parts to some of the pictures as in the
my song there are parts where the beat picks up and is more
cheery.
I chose to have my artist in most of my pictures to show his
importance and also to conform to the conventions of the
pop genre. As you can see in Justin’s album covers he is in
both of them, therefore copying this idea would conform to
these conventions.
All of the digipaks that I have looked at have had a barcode
and icons to do with social media or a website. This is what
makes a digipak, therefore incorporating it into mine.
9. CONCLUSION
• In conclusion, I believe that my music video, digipak and poster work effectively
together. This is because it is easy for my target audience (12 – 25 year olds) to
connect the three texts together as they all have the same/similar colours and
locations.
• All 3 are clearly connected with the use of the actor and the location with the
colours as well. I would say that my digipak and poster are an accurate
representation of the music video that I have created.
• The links between all of the texts can be clearly seen. The most obvious would
be the location as where I filmed the music video and where I took the pictures
for my digipak. I did this as I had to make the use of the sunset that was there at
the time. When filming in December/January in England I had to make the use
of the limited days of sun, therefore using the same day/location. However, I am
happy with how they turned out as the location fits perfectly with the song and
genre.
• Finally, another clear link would be the colours in all of the 3 products. They all
have a sunset in the background, some of them the same sunset, therefore
showing an easy link between them. Not only this but any of the other colours
(especially in my poster and digipak) are bright showing conventions of the pop
genre.
