The The Souls Of White Folks
India was under imperialistic rule by the British Empire or the Bristish Raj from
1858 to 1947.The region under British control commonly called India in the
British period included areas directly administered by the United Kingdom as well
as the princely states ruled by individual rulers under the paramount of the British
throne. In my recent visit to London precious jewels and Indian made goods are
displaced in Windsor castle under high security. Most of the goods accumulated
from India were under Queen Victoria s reign; the other monarchs who were
reigning during this imperialistic time were Edward VII, George V, Edward VIII,
and George VI. W.E.B Dubois writes in the Souls of White Folks, We see Europe s
greatest sin precisely where we found Africa s and Asia s, in human hatred, the
despising of men; with this difference, however: Europe has the awful lesson of the
past before her, has the splendid results of widened areas of tolerance, sympathy, and
love among men, and she faces a greater, an infinitely greater, world of men than any
preceding civilization ever faced. England took advantage of its darker counterparts
by showing superiority through color, religion, and technological advances. In the

through his photography of the 1st Batallion East Surrey Regiment of Great Britain.

Liquidity
Liquidity ratios shows the ability of a company to pay off short term obligated
debts and fulfill the requirements of cash for unexpected events [1]. The
comparison of the liquidity ratios of several individual companies is meaningful,
only if those companies are in a same industry and legal system. In the rest of this
part, we are going to discuss more details about working capital and current ratio
which are 2 key indicators for displaying the liquidity of companies
Working capital is mostly used to measure the efficiency of the company and its
overall health in a short term, in our case it is one year. And current ratio showed
whether the asset of the company is larger than its debt in a short period or not. In
general, the higher liquidity ratio, the better ability to cover the short term debits.
Based on the calculation from previous part, we noticed that Fortis Inc. has a large
positive working capital around 6376 million dollars and its Current ratio is 1.553
which is larger than 1 in 2013.It means this company had a strong ability to pay off
its short term liabilities immediately.
However, at the same time, Emera showed a big negative working capital number
with a current ratio less than one in 2013. It suggested that Emera might not be able
to pay off its short term liability immediately and may need additional time to collect
money. The company is considered as an over leveraged company and should find a
solution to either get more current assets by
Alex Morgan s Influence
Many people become leaders and inspire those around them with inspirational
words that can determine them to be, or do anything they want. Alex Morgan
inspires young and developing soccer players with these encouraging words,
Dream big because dreams do happen. Clearly, she wants young athletes to be
confident and ambitious to do anything they set their minds too, if they are
resolute and credulous. Lindsey Vonn says, Follow your dreams. If you have a
goal, and you want to achieve it, then work hard and do everything you can to get
there, and one day it will come true. Obviously, she definitely put in a lot of hard,
laborious work to be where she is today and inspires others to show that if you work

By showing others that even the shortest amount of words with confidence, it can
go a long way. She has made an impact. Although, she knows that that is only
possible by having confidence. When people see a confident, strong, independent
person like Alex they will aspire to be like her. She is influential enough, that
people become like her and influence others. Anyone can do anything and it is
especially easy when you have a positive influence. Alex Morgan is that positive
influence to not only young athletes but women in general. Overall, so many
different people believe in so many different things. Majority of those people chose
not to stand up for what they believe in and instead are very timid. Although, a
scarce amount of those people do take a stand and make great changes. That is
why so many young athletes and women look up to Alex Morgan. She took a risk
to fight for what she wanted and has accomplished greatness. For example, equal
pay between male and female athletes. Anyone can look up to her and know exactly
what it takes to be a leader and what to do to get there. She is the most influential
Minimum Wage Hik
Understanding the Risks and Rewards of a Minimum Wage Hike through Multiple
Perspectives
Introduction
On an annual basis, workers who work full time at a job that pays the federal
minimum wage make $12,920 before taxes. Considering this level of income is at
the borderline of the federal poverty level of $11,770, many in the U.S. low wage
workers, farmers, and even economists are calling for a reexamination of the
minimum wage policy. The purpose of minimum wage laws is to ensure lower class
families receive a living wage which enables them to live with dignity. Advocates of
minimum wage hike question if the current minimum wage level is serving its
intended purpose. This report will investigate the rationale and implications of raising

One reasonable solution we can adopt is providing a vocational track for high
school students who seek employment after graduation. In a vocational track,
students learn to master a set of vocational skills they re interested in, as oppose to
taking a series of required courses which they may perceive as having no practical
value. This system of secondary education is responsible for making Germany one of
the most successful industrialized nations in the world. Their education system sets
students best suited for higher education and those who may fare better in vocational
training apart in eighth or ninth grade. It is clearly working for Germany because in
October, 2014, Germany s youth unemployment was 7.7 percent compared to 12.7
percent for the United states. As shown, the United States should consider giving
students the choice to learn vocational skills in high school in order to reduce the
supply of lowly skilled workers.
Conclusion
It is time to rethink the decision that raising the minimum wage will help workers and
the economy. Because raising the minimum wage would only temporarily solve this
problem, the economy should find a solution that would benefit everyone in the long
term. Evidence shows the most reasonable solution is to provide vocational training
to create more skilled workers. If we do this, it is likely that workers will get a higher
minimum wage without creating rippling effects throughout the

Before Charles Best and Frederick Banting discovered insulin, the main treatment for
diabetes was an extremely low calorie diet, it would be low as 450 calories a day.
Since there was no treatment for diabetes, getting it would be a death sentence and
unimaginable to treat. Now thanks to Banting and Best, millions of people back

of Frederick Banting and Charles Best s hard work and dedication it helped many
people co op with diabetes with insulin. Charles Best left a huge mark and long

As a son of a sharecropper and grandson of a slave, Jesse Owens created History in
1936 when he achieved what no athlete had done before: four Olympic Gold
Medals. (jesseowens.com). During this era, the United States had limited civil rights
and was approaching a World War with Hitler rising into power in Germany.
Although Owens was victorious on the track, because of the color of his skin, He
was looked down upon and unrecognized by even his own country. Through the
excessive racism, one may ask how Owens moved forward and dealt with such
negativity in a situation that should have been celebrated.

Despite such success, Owens did not have the privilege to the luxuries of his fellow
white teammates. Owens had to stay in black only hotels and restaurants. And
although he deserved it, he was not offered any scholarships because he was Black
and therefore was forced to work part time in order to pay for his education.
On May 25th, 1935 Jesse Owens set three world records in a span of forty five
minutes at the Big Ten Championships in Ann Arbor(www.jesseowens.com). Despite
his sore back that day, he achieved a 9.4 second victory in the 100 meter dash, long
jumped 26 ft. 8 Вј inches, sprinted at 20.3 seconds on the 220 meter sprint, and
succeeded in the 220 yard low hurdles at 22.6 seconds. Owens s achievement stands
as perhaps the best single day accomplishment of any track and field athlete history.
Because of such great success, Owens entered the 1936 Olympics that were to be
held in Berlin, Germany.
Hitler was rising into power in Germany and it is said that he tried to use the
Olympics in order to show the world a resurgent Germany (www.jesse owens.org).
Nazi propaganda promoted concepts of Aryan racial superiority and depicted
Africans as inferior. Hitler wanted the entire world to believe that the Aryan people
were a dominant race. Owens had different plans, as he achieved four victories
during the Track and field Olympics. On August 3rd Owens won the 100 meter dash

The Effects Of Media On Young Audiences
Violence in the media has become a hot topic of discussion due to its potential
effects on young audiences. While content on broadcast networks such as ABC and
NBC is regulated by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), premium
channels like the Home Box Office (HBO) do not fall under their jurisdiction and
therefore do not need to obey such regulations (Title 47). A prime example of graphic
violenceon televisionthat falls outside of the FCC s purview is found in the HBO hit
series Game of Thrones. The ninth episode of the third season of Game of Thrones,
The Rains of Castamere , is well known as one of the most violent episodes in the
show. This is mostly attributed to a specific scene in this episode, known by the
book readers as the Red Wedding. The scene is one of the most violent scenes in
all of Game of Thrones history. The Red Wedding scene was quite controversial
after it aired in 2013, with some arguing that it was too violent, even for an HBO
television show. Others stated that they thought the violence was necessary
considering the historical references mentioned, and the way the book was written.
I believe that the purpose of the violence and gore found in Game of Thrones, and
more specifically The Rains of Castamere , is to replicate the way modern
audiences think of the Dark Ages. It also stands to entice the original readers of the
novels who would expect the violence of the show to live up to that in the books.

According to studies from both developed and limited resource countries, the most
important clinical consequences due to VAP have increased death rates, significant
disease, increased the length of stay, and additional health care costs. Although
hospitals in limited resource countries do implement infection control programs,
agreement with infection control practices is inconsistent. A multicenter, potential,

Out of state college tuition is immensely more expensive than in state tuition.
Besides where you go, it depends on your intended career. If you decide to be a
doctor, your schooling will cost much more than that of a police officer. Doctors
will be in college for a much longer period than most other majors, and this drives up
the amount they have to spend to get that education. So, the cost of college is totally
dependent on where you go to school and what career you are pursuing.
For the sake of this paper, I will use my own career path as an example. I am going to

Central Concerns In Antony And Cleopatra
The Central Concerns of the Antony and Cleopatra by William Shakespeare
This essay will look at two of the central concerns in Antony and Cleopatra, namely
reason versus passion and the public versus private domains. These two central
concerns of the play are clearly illustrated in the extract we are provided with. I will
mainly focus on the character of Antony in this essay as it is within him that these
two concerns of the play are most evident.
In the beginning of the play we see that Mark Antony has been neglecting his duties
as part of the triumvirate of Rome as he has been staying with his mistress Cleopatra.
His wife, Fulvia, dies and Octavius Caesar and Lepidus request that he joins ... Show

She is thus reacting emotionally (out of fear) and is not behaving like a rational
person. This is typical of the way Antony behaves whilst he is in Egypt. Cleopatra
and Antony are thus both passionate people who live for the here and now
(Guidelines, 1999:21).
From the opening scene of the play, we see public displays of the love that Antony
and Cleopatra have for each other. Antony even comments that:
Let Rome in Tiber melt, and the wide arch
Of the ranged empire fall! Here is my space. (1.1. 35 36)
These words show that Antony s political power often takes second place to his love
for Cleopatra (Bookrags, 2003). This also demonstrates how passionate and sensual
Antony is when he is in Egypt living for the here and now. Cleopatra s use of the
words riotous madness (1.3.29) illustrates a crucial feature of their relationship one
that is without restraint, extremely passionate and keeps them from knowing their
true and better selves (Guidelines, 1999: 32).
One of the most central concerns of the play is illustrated above by the relationship
between Cleopatra and Antony; namely can the private be separated from the public
and political domain? The political versus private cannot be that clear cut however as
these two domains interlink: The public affection that Antony and Cleopatra display
shows the world how they feel about each other and

Internal forces: Cathay Pacific is currently paying extremely high salaries to its

To Secure These Rights
9) How far do you agree that the years 1945 55 saw only limited progress in
improving the status for African Americans?
Life had only improved to a small extent. There was only limited progress in solving
the problem of segregation, the violence continued, new employment opportunities
and voting rights were not readily available and whilst there was de jure change in
the areas of transport and education, de facto change was lacking.
One of the areas that changed were segregation, Truman established a committee to
investigate race relations and to safeguard the rights of minorities. The report of this
committee published in 1947 was called To Secure These Rights . It called for many

Thus, during the Truman presidency, it rulings in a number of cases appeared to
challenge Plessy v Ferguson e.g. 1946 Morgan v Virginia prohibited segregation on
interstate transport. The Morgan v Virginia case did not lead to a change in practise.
As a result in 1947 CORE launched a Journey of Reconstruction. A mixed race team
planned to travel by bus from the northern to southern states; their aim was to draw
public attention to the fact that many states were not following the Supreme Court.
Public attention was gained but it failed to achieve change. The UDL organised a
week long bus boycott in Louisiana s capital Baton Rouge in June 1953.
Another area that showed the some improvement was education, Their first
successful challenge to segregation in education came in 1950. The NAACP
argued that Sweatt was entitled to an education equal to that of whites at the Law
school. The courts decided that they did not have to integrate the white Law school
and set up a law school for blacks. The NAACP rejected this and went to the
Supreme Court; they argued that the new law school was inferior. The Supreme
Court agreed and ordered the University of Texas Law School to accept Sweatt as a
student 1950 McLaurin v Oklahoma State University upheld the rights of black
students to receive equal Higher Education. Another key event supporting this issue
was in 1954, this case came to the Supreme Court. It had been sponsored by the

Affirmative Action And Discrimination Against Women
And...
A policy designed to redress past discrimination against women and minority groups
through measures to improve their economic and educational opportunities. By
definition seems to explain affirmative action and to help subsidize for past
discrimination. Affirmative action has foremost affects in college admissions and
employment. Especially, in employment more qualified women applicants are hired
solely in the fact that they are members of a minority group. The Women s Movement
has fought for the equality of women and I intend to show that affirmative actionin
today s society. Affirmative action was first put into use during the 1960s under John
F. Kennedy. The Civil Rights movement of 1964 emphasized the program. During
that era discriminationamong minorities and women was extremely high and there
were many barriers. Affirmative action required employers to hire regardless of race,
the affirmative action of today has changed, and employers now required to diversity
in human resources. The main goal of the action was to give minorities and women
an equal opportunity at employment and. The program was brought into effect ratios
of employment and college admissions between whites and blacks were not
corresponding with population.
Throughout the 1960s and 1970s women feminists fought to be treated equally. The
feminists did not want special treatment nor did the feminists want to be treated as
inferior to men. Affirmative action adds to the women s dream that early

Ludwig van Beethoven was a great composer at his time. He was a German
composer and born in a big family whose interest and inclination is music. Though
at the age of 20, he was already known as a pianist and a composer with distinctive
talent, it was at the age of 30 that Beethoven was recognized as a talented pianist. In
1796, his life changed when he started to feel deafness. At first, he was dismayed
and become irritable so that he almost lost his hope but due to his strong
determination, he continued to compose music. He was able to create wonderful and
well loved music even though he became totally deaf. Beethoven was the grandson
of a musician of Flemish origin named Lodewijk van Beethoven (1712 1773).
Beethoven was named after his grandfather, as Lodewijk is the Dutch cognate of

The Book Of Romans Is Identified As An Epistle
The genre of the book of Romans is identified as an epistle. It is essential to recognize
the related interpretive principles when interpreting this kind of genre. Read the
epistle in its entirety in one sitting to understand the intent of the letter. It is
particularly profitable to also consider paragraphs as being the main units of thought.
Follow the logical development of the argument as the letter progresses. Historical
context is of vital importance when studying an epistle. No serious scholar today
questions that Paul is the author of Romans. Dating ancient letters is notably
difficult, but in the case of Romans we can securely pinpoint the letter between A.D.

The Gentiles were filled with contempt for the Jews for their failure to realize that
Christ had freed believers from the law. Paul wanted the Jews and the Gentiles to
understand that forging unity out of differences is important to bring peace to the
church. Paul summarizes his doctrine of salvation in a deeper way compared to the
other epistles to solve existing problems in the Roman church. Not only is it
important to learn about the historical context behind the passage in Romans, but
we also must view the literary context. Understanding the literary context of
Romans is an important part of the interpretation process. The epistle is the
dominant literary genre of the New Testament in terms of space; 21 out of the 27
books are characterized as epistles. The epistle is a mixed form that combines
literary and expository features. The usual New Testament epistle is composed of

this letter to Rome during his ministry in Corinth. About a year earlier, he had written

Corinthian church during his ministry in Ephesus. 2 Corinthians was probably

him because much of the trouble he had experienced from the
The Broad Therapeutic Goals
The broad therapeutic goals are to ultimately help the client live a fulfilling life,
without the maladaptive thoughts that they are having, which brought them to
therapy. This ultimate goal can be accomplished by changing the client s current
thoughts, which are causing them unease, to more positive and/or healthy ones.
Clients need to examine how they dealt with situations in the past, and determine
what worked, and what did not, so that they can change the strategies that didn t
work. When clients realize that they can change their thoughts, this will trickle
down and change their emotions and behaviors as well. Once they understand this,
it will help them to live healthier lives. One of the goals is also to equip the client
with the necessary tools so that they can cope with situations on their own. Some
techniques that are central to this orientation are, having very clearly defined
action plan. This will help with the direction of the therapy, which the client has
agreed on and helped to establish. I also believe that inventories are very helpful,
because they can help to identify any problems that the client has not raised. They
are also useful for helping to determine what type of goals should be pursued, or if
there s a more immediate problem, which the client has not, mentioned, or is not
aware of. Inventories also provide a good base, and can provide useful information
about the client, as well as help to assess the client s mood. The inventories should

Worlds Of Wonder In The Northern Colonies Dbq
In Worlds of Wonder in the Northern Colonies by David D. Hall, he discuss the role
of religion in the northern colonies. Many of the things that happened or they
endured were seen as different manifestations of their religion. Things such as
losing material possessions or dying in a unforeseen way were seen as God
showing you the error of your ways. In Document five, Dr. Hamilton discusses his
time in various parts of the Northern colonies. While in New London he watches as
people come together and burn their material possessions in order to save their souls.
They believe that by letting go of these worldly possessions that they idolize, their
souls shall be set free. They felt unworthy and often felt they were sinners, trying their

The study draws economic analogies for Heisenberg s Uncertainty principle and
concentrates on the 17 largest Investment Banks and the 10 largest Mutual Funds. It
tries to quantify the uncertainty and lists the economic mass of every institution from
among the two groups and the average economic masses of each group as well. The
study was restricted to publically listed Investment Banks and Mutual Funds and the
model was not applicable to privately held and boutique banks and also wasn t
applicable to hedge funds and other private funds which did not report their Net Asset
Value Returns. According to the findings, the economic mass was highest for
Goldman Sachs while Toronto Domino Bank shows the least economic mass. When
it comes to Mutual Funds, Pimco the world s largest mutual fund had the lowest
economic mass; the exposure to the crisis could be the reason behind this. The
American Funds Growth Fund of America has the highest economic mass. This study
has been able to show that the Heisenberg s Uncertainty Principle has implications for
financial institutions. For future research, one could look into applying the model for
privately held Financial Institutions and those funds which do not report their returns
like Hedge Funds.

Body contouring is defined as altering the shape of the body. There are many ways
that the body can be contoured. Many contouring treatments involve surgery. Any
operation can be risky, and it can take a long time to recover. Fortunately, you can
contour your body without surgery by getting endermologie. What Does
Endermologie Do? Endermologie is a treatment that uses a LPG Cellu M6
Keymodule. This device has been approved by the Food And Drug Administration
for body contouring and cellulite reduction. In fact, endermologie is currently the
only treatment that has been FDA approved for reducing cellulite. It can also reduce
cellulite. The LPG Cellu M6 Keymodule is applied directly to the skin. It suctions
the area and deeply massages it. Endermologie is not a painful procedure. In fact,

It was developed back in the 1980s by Louis Paul Guitauy. It was first used to treat
burns. It helps prevent the skin from contracting. It also helps loosen up scar tissue.
Scientists discovered that endermologie can also reduce cellulite. Today,
endermologie is performed in over 70 countries in the world. It is estimated that
70,000 women use this treatment every day. Additionally, 3,000 dermatologists and
plastic surgeons endorse this treatment. Other Benefits Of Endermologie Treatments
Body contouring and cellulite reduction are not the only benefits that can be reaped
from getting endermologie. Athletes get endermologie because it can help reduce
muscle soreness. It can also help soften the tissue, which increases flexibility.
Furthermore, it makes it easy for people to recover after doing vigorous exercise.
Results Of Endermologie Endermologie can deliver amazing results. However, it is
important to note that most people will need to get more than one treatment. In fact,
many people will need to get six or more treatments. People can maintain the results

Buddhism
For over 2000 years Buddhism has existed as an organized religion. By religion we
mean that it has a concept of the profane, the sacred, and approaches to the sacred. It
has been established in India, China, Japan and other eastern cultures for almost 2000
years and has gained a strong foothold in
North America and Europe in the past few centuries. However, one might ask; what
fate would Buddhism face had Siddartha Guatama been born in modern times; or
more specifically in modern day North America? Would his new found enlightenment
be accepted now as it was thousands of years ago? Would it be shunned by society as
another cult movement? What conflicts or similarities would it find with modern ...

Traditionally, western thought can be summed up by French philosopher RenJ
Descartes famous saying, quot;Cogito ergo sum quot; or quot;I think therefor I exist
quot;. That is, typically, western man has always equated identity with his mind,
instead of his whole organism (Capra 23). This same line of thought can be found
in traditional Newtonian Mechanics in which the observer of an event is never
taken into account when describing the event. Rather, all things are said to occur at
an quot;absolute time quot; in space, never taking into account the observer s
position or speed relative to the event or the rest of the Universe. However, in the
beginning of the 20th century, new developments in physics began to shake the
framework of the scientific world. Due mostly to work by Albert Einstein, but also
Ernest Rutherford and others, the scientific view of the universe took a drastic turn.
These scientists recognized flaws in the classical Newtonian view of the universe.
The recognition of these flaws led to the development of the Quantum Theory of
Matter as well as Einstein s
Relativity Theory. These theories, as well as the discoveries that they led to,
incorporated the entire universe as being comprised of energy, and that particles,
time, and space, are just different representations of this energy.
Naturally this faced strict opposition. So much so that in spite of it s

Secular Humanism and Christianity
I. Part One: Secular Humanism
1. The Question of Origin A humanist rejects any existence and or thought of God
and is believed that modern science can answer the question of how life began.
Atheists...propose the idea that God is not necessary for life or morals, and the
answer to mankind s existence is found only in nature itself (Weider Gutierrez. 2011,
p56). They believe that the entire universe as well as life is simply by coincidence
and that lucky for us, nonliving matter turned to living cells which eventually led to
humankind; also known as Darwin s theory.

experiment and observation. They also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Man decides for himself what is right and wrong, and is given the will to change his
mind at any point. This goes hand in hand with the whole humanist belief and that
man is in control of his own destiny as well as the principles he chooses to live by
daily.
5. The Question of Destiny Humanist s believe that this world and this life is all we
have. Once this machine (the body) breaks down and dies, death is the final and there
is nothing more beyond that. Once the body starts decomposing, all that remains or
they suggests lives on, is the impact they left on loved ones and through their culture
(Weider Gutierrez, 2011, p64).
II. Part One: Secular Humanism vs. Christian Worldview
1. The Question of Origin In contrast to the humanist s worldview that everything
happened by chance, Christians believe that from the beginning, everything that
exists, including humans was the result of God. Now Christians do believe in
micro evolution, also known as adaption, where an animal can endure some
changes to help itself adapt to a different condition, but will never form into a
different species. There is still no scientific evidence that can prove otherwise. God
made sure of this when he was creating all living things that he kept all species
according to its kind (Genesis 1:21 25).
2. The Question of Identity As opposed to the humanist view where we are nothing
more then an highly developed animal, the Bible teaches us

Delisting of Grizzly Bears
Topic: Delist the Grizzly bears
General Purpose: To Argue
Specific Purpose: To argue that the federal government should take the grizzly bears
off of the endangered species act for the bears that are around and in Yellowstone
National Park.
Thesis statement: Grizzly bears should be taken off of the endangered species list
because 1) they have meat all of the requirements, 2) States will be in charge of
monitoring the bears, and 3) as long as the state monitor the population
Introduction
I.[Attention getter] Do any of you know the name an animal that is on the
endangered species list?
Well I can think of one and that is the Grizzly bear.
a.Three states of the lower 48 are proposing to take them off of the Endangered
Species act. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
[Constructive argument] The Grizzly bears have met the requirements set by the
USFWS.
a.According to the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and the U.S.
Fish and Wildlife Service Grizzly bears have been able to meet the requirements of
the endangered species act.
i.The categories that they get on the endangered list are: population reduction,
restricted geographic range, small population size and decline, very small or
restricted population, and quantitative analysis ii. The Grizzly bears population has
grown from about 200 in 1975 to approximately 600 1200 in the 18 million acers of
the Greater Yellowstone ecosystem. (Yellowstone) iii. This only is being lifted in
Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana around the outer parts of Yellowstone national park.
b.Since these categories are getting better the Grizzly bears are growing and their
population should be able to be controlled by taking them off.
Transition: Although the Grizzlies population is growing this means that after the
federal government takes the bears off of the endangered list in Idaho, Montana, and
Wyoming then these states will become responsible for monitoring the population
Music From Its Lyrics, Beats, And The Artist
Music from its lyrics, beats, and the artist itself has an ambiguous connection the
color of the skin of its listeners. For years, music was an alternative form of
segregation and even corruption. Although Music has been around for centuries,
the development and origin of certain genres are still being a challenge. During the
time of segregation and integration times were tough It took both races a while to
adjust to the abundant change of equality for all. One of the tools that helped ease
this transition was music. Music had the strong ability to touch all types of people,
of all ages of all skin tones. Musicians like Chuck Berry the Famous group The

Residing in a community segregated from whites and even poor black Berry grew
up around music and technically was considered to have a well up bring. This

course growing up listening to blues and, of course, experiencing the hardship of
racism and inequality the development of R B risen. Berry did, however, run into
trouble as a teenager he and his friends were arrested for multiple things. After
being released, Berry realized he lacked education and now had a prison record..
He slowly fell in love with music again; furthermore, during the Mid 1900s Berry
started a band. Berry revitalized the band and introduced upbeat country numbers
into the band s repertoire of jazz and pop music. Berry managed to achieve
crossover appeal with white youths without alienating his black fans by mixing
blues and R B sounds with storytelling that spoke to the universal themes of youth.
In the late 1950s, songs such as Johnny B. Goode, Sweet Little Sixteen and Carol
all managed to crack the Top 10 of the pop charts by achieving equal popularity
with youths on both sides of the racial divide. I made records for people who would
buy them, Berry said. No color, no ethnic, no political I don t want that, never did.

Abstract
This paper explores the change that General Motors faced after the economic
recession and credit crisis that began in 2007. This pushed GM to request assistance
from the U.S. Treasury which resulted in the restructuring of their US operations. The
start of this restructuring change involved downsizing GM s operations in the US.
Along with the mandate imposed from the US government GM engaged in

GM s structural change is an example of retrenchment, which is done by centralizing
/specializing a firm s operations to sustain or improve productivity (Palmer et al.,
2009).
Downsizing is generally regarded as midrange or second order change . A second
order change is transformational, radical, and fundamentally alters the organization at
its core. Second order change entails not developing but transforming the nature of
the organization (Palmer et al., 2009). Furthermore, GM s downsizing can be seen as
a type 2 transformation, which involves the revitalization of already established
companies... where the organization remains in the same market but focuses on how
to rebuild itself in order to operate more effectively (Palmer et al., 2009). GM
remained in the automotive industry but needed to restructure and downsize in order
to mitigate the effects of the economic recession.
In its restructuring, GM closed plants, cut its workforce, shed three brands, reduced
debt, introduced popular new vehicles, and implemented changes to reduce retiree
legacy costs, which had been a major financial drain (Canis Webel, 2013). Cuts
were made based on whether a person s position was deemed redundant, the level of
their subject matter expertise, and performance reviews (Smerd, 2009). As outlined
in Table 1 more than 2,000 dealerships were closed, as GM shed its
Subtle Truth In Jane Eyre
The Subtle Truth of Jane Eyre
The role of a woman in Victorian England was an unenviable one. Social demands
and personal desires were often at cross purposes. This predicament was nothing new
in the 19th century, yet it was this period that would see the waters begin to stir in
anticipation of the cascading changes about to shake the very foundation of an empire
on the brink of global colonization and industrialization. The question of what role
women would play in this transformation came to the forefront.
Charlotte BrontГ« s female bildungsroman, Jane Eyre, attempts to spotlight many of
the issues of the woman question facing this period and to draw a balance between

When we are first introduced to Jane, she is a nine year old girl humbled by the
consciousness of [her] physical inferiority ... [who is excluded] from privileges

daydreamer, ostracized dependent and unwanted ward whose only solace is herself
and her penchant for books. The effect on Jane of her early trauma involving her
incarceration in the red room, is significant for later developments in the novel, for it
represents her vision of the society in which she is trapped: one which seeks to
harness her human drive.
Critics have often noted that BrontГ« uses the properties of fire and ice throughout
Jane Eyre to isolate the dueling drives of the novel s heroine. Jane s experiences in
the red room, probably the most metaphorically vibrant in the book, shows us clearly
the dilemma women of her disposition faced. That a naturally occurring drive should
be deemed necessary to be contained was a frustration shared by many energetic
women who seeked an outlet for their individuality in a world of double standards.
But this was a time when conformity and observance of decorum were valued
significantly, while placing personal desires over the requirements of social station

The Bull At The Palace Of Minos Essay
INTRODUCTION
One of the most captivating tales from Ancient Greece is that of King Minos of
Crete and the Minotaur, a beast half man and half bull. This legend, immortalised by
modern films, has its origins in the Aegean, at a time when the bull held a special
place in society.
During excavations near Heraklion in Crete in 1990, English archaeologist Sir Arthur
Evans unearthed a massive structure built by a sophisticated Bronze Age civilisation.
Evans identified this as the Palace of King Minos in the ancient city of Knossos,
inhabited by people he called the Minoans. Evans excavations at Knossos revealed
an extensive body of evidence for the Minoan civilisation, an analysis of which
proves the bull to be a significant motif depicted on a range of iconographical media.
The Australian Museum s latest exhibition, Minotaur: The Bull at the Palace of
Minos draws on this evidence to present different representations of the bull at
Knossos, as well as to communicate the significance of the bull to the Minoans. The
blockbuster, which is expected to run from April September 2018 will showcase
over 100 objects from the Heraklion Archaeological Museum, as well as integrate
innovative digital technologies to provide visitors with enjoyable immersive
experiences. The following report provides a detailed overview of the exhibition,
beginning with an explanation of its value, content and layout, before moving on to
outline the target audience and visitor experience on offer.
The Ashkenazim, the Sephardim and the Mizrahim Jews
Essay
After the Romans conquered Jerusalem and caused the destruction of the Temple in
70 AD many Jewish people fled to Europe and other countries. The two main groups
that emerged during this time were the Ashkenazim and the Sephardim. Both these
groups set up new lives in foreign countries and had to grow accustomed to their
traditions and beliefs. The Ashkenazim settled mainly in Germany and spoke Yiddish
while the Sephardim settled mainly in Spain and spoke their own distinct language, a
combination of Hebrew and Spanish, known as Latino. Ladino is written using
Hebrew letters and is still spoken among the Sephardi community today. Both groups
spoke Hebrew although slightly differently. The Sephardic Jews are sometimes split

However, some Ashkenazi Jewsexperienced anti semitism violence in these
Christian countries. Many Jewish people were killed during this violence in what
Robert Seltzer called a supercharged religious atmosphere (1980). In the closing
centuries of the Middle Ages many Ashkenazi Jews moved to Italy and Poland in
search of new and better opportunities and to escape their deteriorating living
conditions in the Rhineland and central Europe, migrations took place to Italy and
Poland... by the sixteenth century Poland had emerged as the foremost centre of
Ashkenazic Jewish scholarship (Eliezer, 2009, 67).
The Sephardic Jews were from Spain, Portugal, North Africa and the Middle East.
Often they are split into two groups, the Sephardic Jews of Spain and Portugal and
the Mizrahi Jews of North Africa and the Middle East. The term Sephardim comes
from the place name Sephard in the Tanakh, or Hebrew Bible, referring to a land
where Jews were exiled after the destruction of the first Temple in Jerusalem
(Karesh, 2006, 461). By 720 Spain was under mostly Muslim control and the
Sephardic culture was highly influenced by the interaction with Muslim Arabs
(Karesh, 2006, 462), they also spoke Arabic. The Sephardic Jews flourished under
Muslim rule and produced high standard poets and
Pre-Disciplinary Communication Reflection
On August 31, 2017 I spoke with Officer Burns via telephone in regards to his
pending discipline and some concerns that had been brought to my attention by
fellow officers and supervisors. The first portion of the conversation centered on his
pending discipline and determining a date that would be acceptable for him to attend
a pre disciplinary hearing with Captain Berger to discuss the alleged violations.
During this conversation I explained the severity of the violations and that based
upon the number of violations within the past twelve months he will subjectto the
progressive discipline policy.
It was stressed to Officer Burns that he could also be subject to termination in the
future if his performance did not improve and he committed another violation. Officer
Burns acknowledged that he understood the severity of the violations and
acknowledged that he was aware of the progressive discipline policy of the city. After
discussing the policy violations and determining an acceptable date for the pre
disciplinary hearing, I segued to the topic of the performance concerns that were
brought to my attention.
The first instance I spoke with Officer Burns about was the concerns that were
brought up by Sgt. Adam Smotrich. Sgt. Smotrich detailed in a message to me that
while on a call with Officer Burns involving an individual experiencing an
emotional crisis and wielding a metal pipe, he became increasingly concerned that
Officer Burns would be unable to defend himself. The reason for this concern was
based upon the perceived physical limitations demonstrated by Officer Burns on the
call. Sgt. Smotrich noted a noticeable limp and lack of ability to move laterally or
backwards in a reasonably quick manner.
This caused Sgt. Smotrich concern because he did not want Officer Burns to fall and
be unable to defend himself if the subject advanced quickly while wielding a pipe.
Sgt. Smotrich indicated he felt that Officer Burns would have been unable to
adequately defend himself or assist him if he needed it. Sgt. Smotrich also noticed
that after Officer Burns handcuffed the subject who was on the ground in a prone
position, he labored to successfully get up without assistance. Sgt. Smotrich felt it
Uncle Tom Stowe Sparknotes
Book Analysis: Uncle Tom amp;#8217;s Cabin
A. Harriet Beecher Stowe was born in 1811 in Litchfield, Connecticut, which
surprises many of her readers. Stowe writes so passionately about slavery that it
seems that she must have been raised in the South. Stowe was born into a strong
Christian family, which explains why her novels have a strong Christian basis.
Stowe first learned of the horrors of slavery when she moved to Cincinnati, Ohio.
Kentucky, a slave state, was right next to Cincinnati. She married and lived there for
18 years. All the while, she stored images and thoughts in her mind about slavery.
Many times, she would talk to slaves and retain their memories and thoughts. ... Show

the hands of the villainous Simon Legree. He treats his slaves like maggots below
the dirt. Tom, with his standing Christian morals, does nothing to retaliate. Legree is
Tom amp;#8217;s final master because Legree will end Tom amp;#8217;s life. Tom
dies a poignant death with his old master amp;#8217;s son, George Shelby, at his side.
D. One of the most important elements that Stowe used to get her point across was
Characterization. The message of slavery could not have been accurately
portrayed if there was not proper character development. To fully understand what
slaves went through, one has to fully understand the mind and heart of a slave.
Stowe executes this beautifully with Eliza and Tom. She gives two different
detailed and strong viewpoints, which helps the reader understand even more.
Stowe includes many stereotypes in her characters. Mr. Haley is the stereotypical
slave trader. He is evil, sly, and only cares about making money. This is a character
that the reader is supposed to dislike and usually does. Mr. Shelby is supposed to
be the amp;#8220;kinder ; slave owner, but Stowe makes it clear that all slavery is
evil. The purpose of this character is to show that most men are basically good, but
they have been brainwashed to believe that blacks are

Why I Chose The Word Childhood
When I looked over the words for the Personal Definitions Essay, I was at a stand
still. All of the words that were presented seemed great, but still a cliche. For
instance, the easiest word on there has to be Love. How many people on the street
right now could answer What does love mean to you? and it is a universal
definition of one loving another in a caring and loving way. How many people
would give examples of their significant others or their families to show assurance
of this definition? But those people would never talk about the heartbreak they
have gone through loving another. They would never speak of the dark corners of
their souls exposed to someone who didn t care or worse scared and stopped. Love
changes every day. That s why I chose a different route a more challenging route. I
chose the word Childhood. The definition of childhood is a period of life from
birth to puberty with the etymology being old English. Everybody has experienced
childhood, and everybody has a different experience on it but not everybody has
come out the same way. The first person I asked was my friend Brian. We had
decided to hang out on a whim, and I decided this would be the perfect opportunity
of getting some of my research done for this essay. What does Childhood mean to
you? I had joked, and his eyes grew serious at the question. It was in and out of the
hospital, he admitted, gaze long and drawn out. It was never knowing what to expect
the next day. (B. Leathern,
Compare And Contrast Ovid And Achilles
Achilles Through the stories in both Homer s Illiad and Ovid s Metamorphoses one
can see the power and the fury of Achilles, one greatest Greek warriors in the Trojan
War. In Homers Illiad, Homer illustrates the battle between Achilles Hector, who was
the Prince of Troy. In Ovid s Metamorphoses, Ovid illustrates the battle between
Achillesand Cycnus, who is the son of Neptune. In both battles, the outcome is the
same both warriors are slain by Achilles. While both stories have the same ending
with Achilles coming out victorious, they both paint very different stories of
Achilles. In one, they describe Achilles almost as human, seeking revenge with no
remorse. In the other, they show Achilles as pure rage, blinded by his own fury. By
comparing both of the battle stories, one can tell the differences both Homer and
Ovid try to express. In Homer s Illiad, Book 22, the story starts with the god Apollo
tricking Achilles, and making him run away from the battle in order to save the city
Troy. After Achilles figures this out, he makes way to complete his task at hand.
There at the Western Gate stood Hectorstanding his ground despite the attempts of
pleading reasoning from his parents, Priam, and Hecuba, to come back inside the
gates. Eventually, Hectors nerves got to him and began to run around the city trying
to escape the chase of Achilles. After a few trips around the city, Athena steps in and
tricks Hector by impersonating Hector s brother. Athena tricks him by saying
Importance Of Plant Pollination
A pollinator is every animal that takes pollen from one plant to another. Pollinators
are not only bees and butterflies as some people may think. When an animal gets
pollen from one flower and then keeps moving and the pollen gets to another
flower of the same species it is pollinating. It can happen by accident. Humans can
also be pollinators. For example: if a person is walking in the garden and is smelling
the flowers and gets some pollenin his or her shirt; and then when they walk by
another flowerof the same species then the pollen gets in that flower, that is
pollination.
Pollinators are important to the ecosystems because they play a very important role in
plant reproduction. If it wasn t for pollinators most plants would not ... Show more

Pemberton, 2010).
Resent network analyses revealed that plant pollinator interactions display a
relatively high extent of complementary specialisation at the community scale
(Nico Bluthgen et al, 2010). But there is also a downside to selective pollination.
So here are some pros and cons of selective pollination The pros of selective
pollination is that they have a species of plants that only attracts them; and that is
the only species of plants they are attracted to. Also the pollination is more
effective because if this pollinator only gets pollen from one species of flower it
will deliver the pollen in the right flower. Examples of cons of selective pollination:
mockingbirds are attracted to red flowers because they have a good eyesight; while
moths are attracted to white flowers because they stand out in the darkness of the
night; which is the time of the day in which moths pollinate. The cons of selective
pollination are that if that plant attracted or started to attract a predator that preys on
such pollinator it would put it in danger. Also if the plant started to attract other
pollinators there would be competition and there could a case in which the first
pollinator would have to stop pollinating that species of plant and start pollinating
another one. Also if that species of plant got extinct such pollinator would either have
to change the plant it pollinates or
Analysis Of Avowal Is Not Enough By Alane Presswood
Vegetarians and vegans (veg*ns, as a collective term) face opposition from people
who are not veg*n. The veg*n community is brought closer together because they
have mutual experiences that allow them to bond. However, the most aggression
that the veg*n community faces comes from within. As the internet has become
increasingly widespread and accessible, veg*ns have the opportunity to connect
with each other to share experiences as well as advice. However, this increased
ability to communicate has become a double edged sword: veg*ns use the internet
to help each other, but they also use it to criticize others lifestyle choices. Criticism
without background and alienation, all in all, actually works against the goal of
converting more people to v*ganism. In Avowal is not Enough, author Alane
Presswood examines the use of public shaming as a form of social control. While
her article specifies an instance in which public shaming was used by a parent to
punish her child for her behavior, this form of punishment can be likened to other
mediums and uses as well. Presswood phrases it as such: Despite possessing little
knowledge of such individual s biases, political leanings, or personal attributes, we as
a mass public feel entitled to attack them on a lasting, vindictive, and deeply hurtful
level. The same rhetoric can apply to shaming in the veg*n community. There have
been instances where someone s post about justifying their consumption of honey is

The Oregon Health And Science University
In the state of Oregon, there is only one academic health center, located in Portland,
and so it is presumed by most that this hospital is capable of handling all complex
medical issues. The Oregon Health Science University (OHSU) is often a point of
referral by all large health centers throughout the rest of the state. While they are
training the next generation of clinicians and researchers, and are considered one of
the top twenty five biomedical research institutions, the innovativeness may not be up
to par, as there is not a project managementoffice (PMO) (OHSU, 2016a). At OHSU,
many populations are served as the primary offerings include a children s hospital,
providing care to the underserved, using education to extend the reach of health
care, engaging in research for public health issues, ensuring access to medical
advances, and connecting with providers where patients live (OHSU, 2016b). This
array of services will require a project management system that can be flexible with
little turnover affecting day to day operations. Additionally, OHSU has particular
initiatives that they are working on, as well as a five year strategic planning, requiring
constant refreshing and prioritization.
Mission, Vision Values Due to the fact that OHSU is a teaching hospital, they have a
multifaceted public mission statement that is adaptable, targeted, addresses services
provided, and indicates a geographical boundary. It is not a concise as a mission
statement might need to
Essay on Anne Fausto-Sterling s The Five Sexes
Exploring the Social Standards of Sex and Gender
There are several sources that tell a person how to be a man or woman. Science
tells us by recognizing the X or Y chromosomes. The media shows us through the
physically ideal celebrities that grace the covers of magazines and flaunt their
bodies in commercials. Sports, wrestling, cars, and blue for the boys. Dresses, make
up, painted nails, and pink for the girls. All of these sources, as well as others, have
evolved into an expectation that has become institutionalized within society. This
expectation, is placement and belonging into the binary system of person: the man or
the woman. In Anne Fausot Sterling s acrticles The Five Sexes and the The Five
Sexes, Revisited , the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Besides the genders male and female, there is also intersexed. Within that group of
intersexed, there are subgroups. Fausto Sterling explains this in her The Five
Sexes: Why Male and Female are Not Enough : Firstly, the term intersex is used in
medical literature to describe the so called true hermaphrodite (possesses one testis
and one ovary), the male pseudohermaphrodite (possess testes and some aspects of
the female genitalia, but no ovaries), and female pseudohermaphadites (possess
ovaries and some aspects of the male genitalia but lack testes). I had no idea that
there were subgroups to the intersexed .
Due to social conformity, along with the advancement of technology and surgical
procedure intersexed persons are aimed to be fixed at birth. Although otherwise
healthy, there is a need to perform surgery on the baby in order to remove certain
sexual organs that don t fit with the perfect idea of what a girl or boy should look
like. This often leaves scars, and the psychological and emotional confusion along
with it. The Five Sexes Revisited focused on the importance of therapy over surgery.
Medical ethicist Laurence B. McCullough of the Center for Medical Ethics and
Health Policy at Baylor Collefe of Medicine in Houston, Texas contend[ed] that in the
process of assigning gender, physicians should minimize what he calls irreversible
assignments: taking steps such as the surgical removal
Monday Night Raw Film Analysis
The scene demands darker lighting and many angles. The area needs to be as three
dimensional as the characters who inhabit it. As is, we have three dimensional
characters in a one dimensional space. There is no depth to their world. The
components and meanings of the image become muddled together in a dull manner.
And this analysis doesn t even address the concept of what the backstage world is.
How does it fit into the rest of the show? How why are audiences capable of seeing it?
What role does the fourth wall play in these segments, if any?
Are the Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley characters aware of the fact that they
are on camera?
If not, why?
As the camera pushes in closer on Mick s face, it makes the premise of the scene
unclear. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We could credit it as the way wrestling is, but that explanation is not enough.
That s the same mediocre standard that lets people think this is all fake. The
backstage area of a WWE event, in real life, is a fascinating place. The characters
alone could serve up a unique visual language. RAW has the freedom to explore
something no other sport and no other television show can. You get to see the journey
behind the curtain of Monday Night Raw while also watching it.
Viewers still don t have access to a fictional version of that world behind the curtain.
Backstage segments continue to reduce that fascinating space to a single dimension.
And the characters become subjects who may or may not be aware of their
surroundings.
Going back to the scene between Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon, a lot would
have to go into reshaping it. In fact, the WWE would need to re think the
fundamental approach of its visual narrative. But that s not as severe of a creative
overhaul as it sounds.
The company can make these changes without interrupting its workflow. Look at
each docu series on the WWE Network and exclusive behind the scenes videos on

  • 2. The The Souls Of White Folks India was under imperialistic rule by the British Empire or the Bristish Raj from 1858 to 1947.The region under British control commonly called India in the British period included areas directly administered by the United Kingdom as well as the princely states ruled by individual rulers under the paramount of the British throne. In my recent visit to London precious jewels and Indian made goods are displaced in Windsor castle under high security. Most of the goods accumulated from India were under Queen Victoria s reign; the other monarchs who were reigning during this imperialistic time were Edward VII, George V, Edward VIII, and George VI. W.E.B Dubois writes in the Souls of White Folks, We see Europe s greatest sin precisely where we found Africa s and Asia s, in human hatred, the despising of men; with this difference, however: Europe has the awful lesson of the past before her, has the splendid results of widened areas of tolerance, sympathy, and love among men, and she faces a greater, an infinitely greater, world of men than any preceding civilization ever faced. The comparison of the liquidity ratios of several individual companies is meaningful, only if those companies are in a same industry and legal system. In the rest of this part, we are going to discuss more details about working capital and current ratio which are 2 key indicators for displaying the liquidity of companies Working capital is mostly used to measure the efficiency of the company and its overall health in a short term, in our case it is one year. And current ratio showed whether the asset of the company is larger than its debt in a short period or not. In general, the higher liquidity ratio, the better ability to cover the short term debits. Based on the calculation from previous part, we noticed that Fortis Inc. has a large positive working capital around 6376 million dollars and its Current ratio is 1.553 which is larger than 1 in 2013.It means this company had a strong ability to pay off its short term liabilities immediately. However, at the same time, Emera showed a big negative working capital number with a current ratio less than one in 2013. It suggested that Emera might not be able to pay off its short term liability immediately and may need additional time to collect money. The company is considered as an over leveraged company and should find a solution to either get more current assets by

In a vocational track, students learn to master a set of vocational skills they re interested in, as oppose to taking a series of required courses which they may perceive as having no practical value. This system of secondary education is responsible for making Germany one of the most successful industrialized nations in the world. Their education system sets students best suited for higher education and those who may fare better in vocational training apart in eighth or ninth grade. It is clearly working for Germany because in October, 2014, Germany s youth unemployment was 7.7 percent compared to 12.7 percent for the United states. As shown, the United States should consider giving students the choice to learn vocational skills in high school in order to reduce the supply of lowly skilled workers. Conclusion It is time to rethink the decision that raising the minimum wage will help workers and the economy. Because raising the minimum wage would only temporarily solve this problem, the economy should find a solution that would benefit everyone in the long term. Evidence shows the most reasonable solution is to provide vocational training to create more skilled workers. If we do this, it is likely that workers will get a higher minimum wage without creating rippling effects throughout the

A prime example of graphic violenceon televisionthat falls outside of the FCC s purview is found in the HBO hit series Game of Thrones. The ninth episode of the third season of Game of Thrones, The Rains of Castamere , is well known as one of the most violent episodes in the show. This is mostly attributed to a specific scene in this episode, known by the book readers as the Red Wedding. The scene is one of the most violent scenes in all of Game of Thrones history. The Red Wedding scene was quite controversial after it aired in 2013, with some arguing that it was too violent, even for an HBO television show. Others stated that they thought the violence was necessary considering the historical references mentioned, and the way the book was written. I believe that the purpose of the violence and gore found in Game of Thrones, and more specifically The Rains of Castamere , is to replicate the way modern audiences think of the Dark Ages. It also stands to entice the original readers of the novels who would expect the violence of the show to live up to that in the books. The violence in The Rains of

Central Concerns In Antony And Cleopatra The Central Concerns of the Antony and Cleopatra by William Shakespeare This essay will look at two of the central concerns in Antony and Cleopatra, namely reason versus passion and the public versus private domains. These two central concerns of the play are clearly illustrated in the extract we are provided with. I will mainly focus on the character of Antony in this essay as it is within him that these two concerns of the play are most evident. She is thus reacting emotionally (out of fear) and is not behaving like a rational person. This is typical of the way Antony behaves whilst he is in Egypt. Cleopatra and Antony are thus both passionate people who live for the here and now (Guidelines, 1999:21). From the opening scene of the play, we see public displays of the love that Antony and Cleopatra have for each other. Antony even comments that: Let Rome in Tiber melt, and the wide arch Of the ranged empire fall! Here is my space. (1.1. 35 36) These words show that Antony s political power often takes second place to his love for Cleopatra (Bookrags, 2003). This also demonstrates how passionate and sensual Antony is when he is in Egypt living for the here and now. Cleopatra s use of the words riotous madness (1.3.29) illustrates a crucial feature of their relationship one that is without restraint, extremely passionate and keeps them from knowing their true and better selves (Guidelines, 1999: 32). One of the most central concerns of the play is illustrated above by the relationship between Cleopatra and Antony; namely can the private be separated from the public and political domain? The political versus private cannot be that clear cut however as these two domains interlink: The public affection that Antony and Cleopatra display shows the world how they feel about each other and

This ultimate goal can be accomplished by changing the client s current thoughts, which are causing them unease, to more positive and/or healthy ones. Clients need to examine how they dealt with situations in the past, and determine what worked, and what did not, so that they can change the strategies that didn t work. When clients realize that they can change their thoughts, this will trickle down and change their emotions and behaviors as well. Once they understand this, it will help them to live healthier lives. One of the goals is also to equip the client with the necessary tools so that they can cope with situations on their own. Some techniques that are central to this orientation are, having very clearly defined action plan. This will help with the direction of the therapy, which the client has agreed on and helped to establish. I also believe that inventories are very helpful, because they can help to identify any problems that the client has not raised. They are also useful for helping to determine what type of goals should be pursued, or if there s a more immediate problem, which the client has not, mentioned, or is not aware of. It tries to quantify the uncertainty and lists the economic mass of every institution from among the two groups and the average economic masses of each group as well. The study was restricted to publically listed Investment Banks and Mutual Funds and the model was not applicable to privately held and boutique banks and also wasn t applicable to hedge funds and other private funds which did not report their Net Asset Value Returns. According to the findings, the economic mass was highest for Goldman Sachs while Toronto Domino Bank shows the least economic mass. When it comes to Mutual Funds, Pimco the world s largest mutual fund had the lowest economic mass; the exposure to the crisis could be the reason behind this. The American Funds Growth Fund of America has the highest economic mass. This study has been able to show that the Heisenberg s Uncertainty Principle has implications for financial institutions. For future research, one could look into applying the model for privately held Financial Institutions and those funds which do not report their returns like Hedge Funds. PAGE 5 LIST OF TABLES

Traditionally, western thought can be summed up by French philosopher RenJ Descartes famous saying, quot;Cogito ergo sum quot; or quot;I think therefor I exist quot;. That is, typically, western man has always equated identity with his mind, instead of his whole organism (Capra 23). This same line of thought can be found in traditional Newtonian Mechanics in which the observer of an event is never taken into account when describing the event. Rather, all things are said to occur at an quot;absolute time quot; in space, never taking into account the observer s position or speed relative to the event or the rest of the Universe. However, in the beginning of the 20th century, new developments in physics began to shake the framework of the scientific world. Due mostly to work by Albert Einstein, but also Ernest Rutherford and others, the scientific view of the universe took a drastic turn. These scientists recognized flaws in the classical Newtonian view of the universe. The recognition of these flaws led to the development of the Quantum Theory of Matter as well as Einstein s Relativity Theory. These theories, as well as the discoveries that they led to, incorporated the entire universe as being comprised of energy, and that particles, time, and space, are just different representations of this energy. Naturally this faced strict opposition. So much so that in spite of it s

The Question of Origin In contrast to the humanist s worldview that everything happened by chance, Christians believe that from the beginning, everything that exists, including humans was the result of God. Now Christians do believe in micro evolution, also known as adaption, where an animal can endure some changes to help itself adapt to a different condition, but will never form into a different species. There is still no scientific evidence that can prove otherwise. God made sure of this when he was creating all living things that he kept all species according to its kind (Genesis 1:21 25). 2. GM s structural change is an example of retrenchment, which is done by centralizing /specializing a firm s operations to sustain or improve productivity (Palmer et al., 2009). Downsizing is generally regarded as midrange or second order change . A second order change is transformational, radical, and fundamentally alters the organization at its core. Second order change entails not developing but transforming the nature of the organization (Palmer et al., 2009). Furthermore, GM s downsizing can be seen as a type 2 transformation, which involves the revitalization of already established companies... where the organization remains in the same market but focuses on how to rebuild itself in order to operate more effectively (Palmer et al., 2009). Critics have often noted that BrontГ« uses the properties of fire and ice throughout Jane Eyre to isolate the dueling drives of the novel s heroine. Jane s experiences in the red room, probably the most metaphorically vibrant in the book, shows us clearly the dilemma women of her disposition faced. That a naturally occurring drive should be deemed necessary to be contained was a frustration shared by many energetic women who seeked an outlet for their individuality in a world of double standards. But this was a time when conformity and observance of decorum were valued significantly, while placing personal desires over the requirements of social station was a sign of pride: un Christian and undesirable. • 35. The Bull At The Palace Of Minos Essay INTRODUCTION One of the most captivating tales from Ancient Greece is that of King Minos of Crete and the Minotaur, a beast half man and half bull. This legend, immortalised by modern films, has its origins in the Aegean, at a time when the bull held a special place in society. During excavations near Heraklion in Crete in 1990, English archaeologist Sir Arthur Evans unearthed a massive structure built by a sophisticated Bronze Age civilisation. Evans identified this as the Palace of King Minos in the ancient city of Knossos, inhabited by people he called the Minoans. Evans excavations at Knossos revealed an extensive body of evidence for the Minoan civilisation, an analysis of which proves the bull to be a significant motif depicted on a range of iconographical media. The Australian Museum s latest exhibition, Minotaur: The Bull at the Palace of Minos draws on this evidence to present different representations of the bull at Knossos, as well as to communicate the significance of the bull to the Minoans. The blockbuster, which is expected to run from April September 2018 will showcase over 100 objects from the Heraklion Archaeological Museum, as well as integrate innovative digital technologies to provide visitors with enjoyable immersive experiences. The following report provides a detailed overview of the exhibition, beginning with an explanation of its value, content and layout, before moving on to outline the target audience and visitor experience on offer.

The first instance I spoke with Officer Burns about was the concerns that were brought up by Sgt. Adam Smotrich. Sgt. Tom dies a poignant death with his old master amp;#8217;s son, George Shelby, at his side. D. One of the most important elements that Stowe used to get her point across was Characterization. The message of slavery could not have been accurately portrayed if there was not proper character development. To fully understand what slaves went through, one has to fully understand the mind and heart of a slave. Stowe executes this beautifully with Eliza and Tom. She gives two different detailed and strong viewpoints, which helps the reader understand even more. Stowe includes many stereotypes in her characters. Mr. Haley is the stereotypical slave trader. He is evil, sly, and only cares about making money. This is a character that the reader is supposed to dislike and usually does. Mr. Shelby is supposed to be the amp;#8220;kinder ; slave owner, but Stowe makes it clear that all slavery is evil. For instance, the easiest word on there has to be Love. How many people on the street right now could answer What does love mean to you? and it is a universal definition of one loving another in a caring and loving way. How many people would give examples of their significant others or their families to show assurance of this definition? But those people would never talk about the heartbreak they have gone through loving another. They would never speak of the dark corners of their souls exposed to someone who didn t care or worse scared and stopped. Love changes every day. That s why I chose a different route a more challenging route. I chose the word Childhood. The definition of childhood is a period of life from birth to puberty with the etymology being old English. In Ovid s Metamorphoses, Ovid illustrates the battle between Achillesand Cycnus, who is the son of Neptune. In both battles, the outcome is the same both warriors are slain by Achilles. While both stories have the same ending with Achilles coming out victorious, they both paint very different stories of Achilles. In one, they describe Achilles almost as human, seeking revenge with no remorse. In the other, they show Achilles as pure rage, blinded by his own fury. By comparing both of the battle stories, one can tell the differences both Homer and Ovid try to express. In Homer s Illiad, Book 22, the story starts with the god Apollo tricking Achilles, and making him run away from the battle in order to save the city Troy. After Achilles figures this out, he makes way to complete his task at hand. When an animal gets pollen from one flower and then keeps moving and the pollen gets to another flower of the same species it is pollinating. It can happen by accident. Humans can also be pollinators. For example: if a person is walking in the garden and is smelling the flowers and gets some pollenin his or her shirt; and then when they walk by another flowerof the same species then the pollen gets in that flower, that is pollination. Resent network analyses revealed that plant pollinator interactions display a relatively high extent of complementary specialisation at the community scale (Nico Bluthgen et al, 2010). But there is also a downside to selective pollination. So here are some pros and cons of selective pollination The pros of selective pollination is that they have a species of plants that only attracts them; and that is the only species of plants they are attracted to. Also the pollination is more effective because if this pollinator only gets pollen from one species of flower it will deliver the pollen in the right flower. Examples of cons of selective pollination: mockingbirds are attracted to red flowers because they have a good eyesight; while moths are attracted to white flowers because they stand out in the darkness of the night; which is the time of the day in which moths pollinate. The cons of selective pollination are that if that plant attracted or started to attract a predator that preys on such pollinator it would put it in danger. Also if the plant started to attract other pollinators there would be competition and there could a case in which the first pollinator would have to stop pollinating that species of plant and start pollinating another one. Also if that species of plant got extinct such pollinator would either have to change the plant it pollinates or

The veg*n community is brought closer together because they have mutual experiences that allow them to bond. However, the most aggression that the veg*n community faces comes from within. As the internet has become increasingly widespread and accessible, veg*ns have the opportunity to connect with each other to share experiences as well as advice. However, this increased ability to communicate has become a double edged sword: veg*ns use the internet to help each other, but they also use it to criticize others lifestyle choices. Criticism without background and alienation, all in all, actually works against the goal of converting more people to v*ganism. Presswood phrases it as such: Despite possessing little knowledge of such individual s biases, political leanings, or personal attributes, we as a mass public feel entitled to attack them on a lasting, vindictive, and deeply hurtful level. While they are training the next generation of clinicians and researchers, and are considered one of the top twenty five biomedical research institutions, the innovativeness may not be up to par, as there is not a project managementoffice (PMO) (OHSU, 2016a). At OHSU, many populations are served as the primary offerings include a children s hospital, providing care to the underserved, using education to extend the reach of health care, engaging in research for public health issues, ensuring access to medical advances, and connecting with providers where patients live (OHSU, 2016b). This array of services will require a project management system that can be flexible with little turnover affecting day to day operations. Additionally, OHSU has particular initiatives that they are working on, as well as a five year strategic planning, requiring constant refreshing and prioritization. Mission, Vision Values Due to the fact that OHSU is a teaching hospital, they have a multifaceted public mission statement that is adaptable, targeted, addresses services provided, and indicates a geographical boundary. It is not a concise as a mission statement might need to
  • 45. Essay on Anne Fausto-Sterling s The Five Sexes Exploring the Social Standards of Sex and Gender There are several sources that tell a person how to be a man or woman. Science tells us by recognizing the X or Y chromosomes. The media shows us through the physically ideal celebrities that grace the covers of magazines and flaunt their bodies in commercials. Sports, wrestling, cars, and blue for the boys. Dresses, make up, painted nails, and pink for the girls. All of these sources, as well as others, have evolved into an expectation that has become institutionalized within society. This expectation, is placement and belonging into the binary system of person: the man or the woman. In Anne Fausot Sterling s acrticles The Five Sexes and the The Five Sexes, Revisited , the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Besides the genders male and female, there is also intersexed. Within that group of intersexed, there are subgroups. Fausto Sterling explains this in her The Five Sexes: Why Male and Female are Not Enough : Firstly, the term intersex is used in medical literature to describe the so called true hermaphrodite (possesses one testis and one ovary), the male pseudohermaphrodite (possess testes and some aspects of the female genitalia, but no ovaries), and female pseudohermaphadites (possess ovaries and some aspects of the male genitalia but lack testes). I had no idea that there were subgroups to the intersexed . Due to social conformity, along with the advancement of technology and surgical procedure intersexed persons are aimed to be fixed at birth. Although otherwise healthy, there is a need to perform surgery on the baby in order to remove certain sexual organs that don t fit with the perfect idea of what a girl or boy should look like. This often leaves scars, and the psychological and emotional confusion along with it. The Five Sexes Revisited focused on the importance of therapy over surgery. Medical ethicist Laurence B. McCullough of the Center for Medical Ethics and Health Policy at Baylor Collefe of Medicine in Houston, Texas contend[ed] that in the process of assigning gender, physicians should minimize what he calls irreversible assignments: taking steps such as the surgical removal
  • 46. Monday Night Raw Film Analysis The scene demands darker lighting and many angles. The area needs to be as three dimensional as the characters who inhabit it. As is, we have three dimensional characters in a one dimensional space. There is no depth to their world. The components and meanings of the image become muddled together in a dull manner. And this analysis doesn t even address the concept of what the backstage world is. How does it fit into the rest of the show? How why are audiences capable of seeing it? What role does the fourth wall play in these segments, if any? Are the Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley characters aware of the fact that they are on camera? If not, why? As the camera pushes in closer on Mick s face, it makes the premise of the scene unclear. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We could credit it as the way wrestling is, but that explanation is not enough. That s the same mediocre standard that lets people think this is all fake. The backstage area of a WWE event, in real life, is a fascinating place. The characters alone could serve up a unique visual language. RAW has the freedom to explore something no other sport and no other television show can. You get to see the journey behind the curtain of Monday Night Raw while also watching it. Viewers still don t have access to a fictional version of that world behind the curtain. Backstage segments continue to reduce that fascinating space to a single dimension. And the characters become subjects who may or may not be aware of their surroundings. Going back to the scene between Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon, a lot would have to go into reshaping it. In fact, the WWE would need to re think the fundamental approach of its visual narrative. But that s not as severe of a creative overhaul as it sounds. The company can make these changes without interrupting its workflow. Look at each docu series on the WWE Network and exclusive behind the scenes videos on
