What Is Happiness Essay
Crafting an essay on the elusive subject of happiness is no small feat. Happiness, a concept as
vast and intricate as the human experience itself, poses a considerable challenge for anyone
attempting to encapsulate its essence within the confines of an essay. The difficulty lies not only
in defining happiness but also in navigating the intricate web of perspectives, philosophies, and
cultural nuances that surround this abstract emotion.
To embark on such an endeavor is to grapple with the complexities of human emotions, societal
expectations, and personal beliefs. One must navigate through the multifaceted dimensions of
happiness, considering its subjective nature and the myriad factors that contribute to its elusive
presence in our lives. Attempting to articulate a universally accepted definition of happiness
becomes a task fraught with the inherent diversity of human experiences and the myriad ways in
which individuals perceive and pursue fulfillment.
Furthermore, the challenge lies in avoiding the pitfalls of clichГ©s and oversimplifications that
often plague discussions on happiness. It necessitates a nuanced exploration of the
psychological, philosophical, and cultural facets that shape our understanding of what it means to
be happy. Unraveling the layers of happiness requires delving into the realms of psychology,
sociology, and even neuroscience to comprehend the intricate interplay of biological and
environmental factors.
Moreover, the task is compounded by the fact that happiness is not a static state but a dynamic,
evolving concept. What brings joy and contentment to one person may not necessarily have the
same effect on another. Thus, the essayist must navigate the intricacies of individual differences
and cultural influences that contribute to the ever-shifting landscape of happiness.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of happiness demands a careful and thoughtful
exploration of the complexities inherent in the human pursuit of joy and fulfillment. It involves
weaving together threads from various disciplines, acknowledging diverse perspectives, and
avoiding the pitfalls of oversimplification. The task is not merely to define happiness but to
embark on a journey of understanding the myriad ways in which it manifests in our lives.
For those seeking assistance in navigating this intricate task, HelpWriting.net offers a resource
where similar essays and much more can be explored and ordered, providing valuable insights
and support in the pursuit of articulating the elusive concept of happiness.

Trade Imbalance Between China And China
In the 18th century, Chinese goods such as silk and porcelain were much desired by
European and had a huge demand in the Western market. In England, tea was the
most desired Chinese good and trade in tea was very lucrative. However, this created
a trade imbalance because Western goods had no market in China. China was a self
sustaining country and that make it harder for Western merchant to trade with them.
Apart from that, the merchants had a hard time getting into Chinese market and had
to deal through Chinese middlemen in Canton. At this point, the British money had
moved on from silver, but the Chinese were still using silver currency. In order to
trade with the Chinese, the British first had to buy silver for other countries and then

Several debates on opium legalization were carried out. Advocates of legalization
suggest that opium should be tax and it will reduce the outflow of Chinese silver. At
the end of the debates, Emperor Daoguang of the Qing dynasty instructed Lin Zexu,
a governor general, to abolish the opium trade. Zexu was sent to Canton and he made
some quick changes. He declared death penalty for anyone found importing or in
possession of opium. Zexu arrested over a thousand Chinese opium dealer and
confiscate approximately seventy thousands of opium pipes, in a matter of months.
The tipping point though was in March of 1839, when Zexu confiscated and
destroyed over twenty thousands of opium chest.
The British merchants were enraged by Zexu s action and demanded compensation
for their seized good. Initially, Superintendent Charles Elliot assured the merchant
traders the British government would be providing compensation for the seized
good. The British government, however, held the Chinese government responsible
for the seized opium. The British soon sent a fleet to China, with a list of demands.
The demands include compensation for the seized goods, right to trade without
middlemen, and an island to use as a base. Initially, the Chinese showed some
resistance and the British began their blockage. The British defeated most of the
Chinese resistance relatively easy and caused the Chinese life. The British moved
north and defeated more Chinese forces in

ELIZABETH S TESTIMONY
I was born into a Baptist household by two loving parents, an older brother, and
many younger siblings to come. I have been told I attended church willingly and
faithfully since before I could comprehend my own faith. At age 5 I began to ask my
parents questions about everything; I was curious. Being such a curious child, all I
wanted was to ask a question that she didn t know the answer to. When I happened
upon the topic of church, my mom seemed to have all the right answers. Accepting
the challenge at hand, I moved on to more difficult questions about religion. I finally
got to the abstract question that got her thinking. I started to ask her about her faith,
quite pleased with myself, when I realized I wanted to strengthen ... Show more

I wanted to be assertive and not aggressive in sharing my faith. I met a girl in
English class named Allison who I invite to attend Wednesday night church with
me. She accepted saying that I should come to her church the following
Wednesday. Excited, she invited me to her Christian Club meeting after school on
Tuesday in room 216. She said they called it C2. I thought what on earth is C2 and
how are they allowed to meet about their religion at the school? I asked my parents
and they said yes, so I decided to give it a go. I was immediately introduced to many
traditions in what I soon found to be my home away from home.
I began to sign up to bring cookies and found a joy deeper than I had ever felt in
baking. Due to my varying interests and talents, my dad told me baking was just a
fun pipe dream, but I got to have my fun in the kitchen on the occasional Monday
night thanks to C2. We continued to make a difference in every way we could

students. I finished 8th grade strong and confidently prepared to face high school.
Over the summer, my friends informed me that there was no Christian Club at my

Alexander Pope And Jonathan Swift And Materialism
Analysis
Society s view of women have changed over time, but have always had objectifying
tendencies. During the 18th century, cosmetic alteration to natural beauty and
materialism heightened, which resulted in a change in the way society viewed
women. This change objectified women and scrutinized them more than in previous
time periods. Authors such as Alexander Pope and Jonathan Swift convey these
views throughout their writings. Pope s Rape of the Lock exposes the materialism
used in objectifying women, mainly in the upper class societal levels. The plot of
the story centers a materialistic goal, as the lock of hair that was cut from a womans
head became so called evidence of a man s sexual conquest. Other sexual conquests,
forced or not, are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another way to analyze the list is that the Bibles are brought down to the
materialistic level of the other listed cosmetics. Both ways conclude that the
cosmetic, material items compare at the same level as the Bible s paired along
with them. Another list comes with a comparison of paired items that contradict
each other s importance. His comparisons include claims about dreadful
occurrences that may compare to ...stain[ing] her honor, or her new brocade,/ [to]
forget her prayers, or miss a masquerade,/ Or lose her heart, or necklace, at a ball;...
(Pope II 106 107). The first description used in each line is something of
importance, as staining honor, forgetting prayers or losing her heart all have serious
implications. More serious actions are then paired with trivial material ones; staining
a new brocade, missing a masquerade or losing a necklace at a ball. Pairing material
actions with important ones unify them as being on the same level of importance.
The contradiction is removed and materialism is elevated.
Objectification of women goes hand and hand with materialism. When Pope
speaks of the sexual conquests in The Rape of the Lock, he only focuses on the
material aspects that result from sex. He first speaks of the Baron, who states he will
win his prize by force to ravish, or by fraud betray; as he will try anything to achieve
his goal (Pope II 32). The aspect of using force emphasizes
Essay On The EU
During his State of the European Union address on September 13, European
Commission President Jean Claude Junker called for additional inclusion of the
Balkan group of member states, stating that It is high time to bring Romania and
Bulgaria into the Schengen area and that the EU must offer credible membership
prospects to Western Balkans. This, however, seemed only to be the begging of his
intention for certain countries, such as Bulgaria, which is heavily vetted to become a
member of the Eurozone. This effort seems to be supported by Euro zone leaders,
such as Macron and Merkel. They both manifested their interest in helping Bulgaria
join the ERM 2 mechanism (commonly referred to as the waiting room for the Euro)
during Bulgarian... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When comparing these to Bulgaria s data, there is a striking compliance, given its
fairly low inflation, small fiscal deficit, and an extremely low public debt mark.
Bulgaria s HICP inflation levels are well within the range of the eurozone average,
and its budget is in surplus at 1.6 per cent, compared to the limit of 3% of deficit
stipulated by the Maastricht criteria. Moreover, its debt ratio is at 29%, which is
excellent when compared to the 60% peg given by the Euro requirements. The
country s bonds are showing interest rates within the 4% required as well, and most
importantly perhaps, as much as Bulgaria has not yet triggered the ERM II
(exchange rate mechanism) process, it has pegged its national currency, the lev, for
almost 20 years. The lev was first pegged in 1997 to the German Mark, and later in
1999 to the Euro until now, with a constant rate of 0.511494. Given such compliance,
it comes to little surprise that Junker stated: I have to say bully that Bulgaria is ready
[to join the euro group]. And if Bulgaria is applying I support this heartily. There are
unfortunately some additional things to consider from Bulgaria s status in the EU.
Skepticism may come from the country s status as being the most corrupt country in
the EU according to Transparency International. Additionally, its status as being the

The Tradition Of Attending College
The tradition of attending college has changed over the past fifty years. Previously,
college was provided to those privileged students who wanted to receive an education
beyond high school. Today this still remains the case, but now most teenagers attend
college to ensure and strengthen their future. In today s society, a collegedegree does
not even promise a successful job, but it still serves as a social norm. For some,
college is not even an option due to their financial status, and for others, the college
life does not seem to suit them. In my perspective, those who drop out, overstress,
and become overwhelmed in college become this way because they were not fully
prepared in their previous school years. High schoolsimply does not... Show more

Huffington Post writes, ...four in 10 high school graduates are required to take
remedial courses when they start college...and fail to earn their degrees within six
years (Kuczynski Brown). An article posted by The Wall Street Journal
complements this argument by saying The number of college students taking at
least one remedial course rose to 2.7 million in the 2011 2012 academic year from
1.04 million in 1999 2000... (Mitchell). An article published by SAGE reported that
Of U.S. students in a 4 year colleges, 40% take at least one remedial course, an act
associated with a higher likelihood of not completing a college degree. As more
students take remediation, fail to be retained, and enter underprepared for credit
bearing courses, investigating college readiness is increasingly important (Tierney).
All of the following articles support the idea I propose. Looking at the amount of
students taking remedial courses once they enter a post secondary institution can
show proof of the lack of preparation. Instead of building upon the knowledge they
have already gained from high school, they now have to participate in remedial
courses that will refresh the basics. Students have dreams to go to college and
unfortunately they are not prepared for what college has in store. High school and
college. Two very close transitions with very little time in between them. High school
does not become crucial until junior

The Cinematic Interpretations of The Lord of the Flies by William Golding
The two cinematic versions of William Golding s Lord of the Flies are very
different. They still both deal dramatically with the basic theme, of a group of
boys who have come from a strict and ordered background to becoming like
savages, hunting, and killing like blood thirsty animals. The book deals with issues
which relate to the Cold War between the United States of America and Russia
which is better reflected in the Brook version rather than the Harry Hook version. I
generally think this is because at the time when the Brook version was made, the
world was under nuclear threat which made it easier for people to ... Show more

One of the most basic and apparent themes is that society holds everyone together,
and without these conditions, our ideals, values and the basics of right and wrong
are lost. Without humanity s rigid rules, anarchy and savagery can come to light.
Brook and Hook are also showing as the book does that morals come directly from
our surroundings, and if there is no civilisation around us, we will then lose these
values.
I personally as a young viewer see that Hook s version is more exciting to an
audience because it can be viewed with more technical advances to the film. Also in
the Hook version it is easy to see another theme which is not made that obvious in
the Brook version. The fear of the unknown (in this case the beast is unknown and
is put into the boy s heads by their imaginations) can be a powerful force, which can
turn people to either insight or hysteria. The boys end up killing Simon because the
happenings which have occurred have lead them to believe that there is a beast on
the island with them, when in fact it is just the pilot. However the black and white
version does have some advantages which the colour version does not have. These
include benefits such as the story, which is virtually the same as the book so you get
the same idea that the book gives you. An additional advantage of the Brook cinematic
Symbolism In The Faerie Queene
Intentions of The Faerie Queene In The Faerie Queene , Spencer Edmund produces
an allegory. His intention was to relate England in the 1590s to a mythical land in
which each character had a symbolic meaning as well as the events they were
undergoing. He lived in an era where Roman Catholicism was replaced with
Protestantismand he dedicated himself to unconsciously teach and educate his readers
the Catholic Churchwas corrupted and was the wrong religion to follow. For this
reason, he gave each character a common role who would relate to anyone in
England and showed the readers how his role in the story symbolized good or evil.
The themes he expressed in his books talked about his interpretation in religion,
politics, symbolism, and his dedication to make his allegoryas influential as possible.
As mentioned before, Spencer s feelings about Catholicism were extremely
important because in time, England s religious beliefs represented the aspects and
motivations of the good and evil. Being the reason why England separated from the
Catholic church and formed the Protestant Church, since they defined Catholicism
to be evil and dirty. This is when he decided to share his beliefs and write several
books that could be interpreted to reveal a hidden moral message. It was a genius
idea because he described the protagonists to be knights and princesses as protestants,
and the antagonists to be evil snakes and the devil himself that symbolized the
Catholic Church. It is typical to
Supply Chain Standards For Supply Chains
Setting Supply Chain Standards to Improve Supply Chain Management
In 2002 congress considered legislation authorizing $47 million to help develop
supply chain integration standards. Since the introduction of the bill to integrate
supply chains, The legislation, The Enterprise Integration Act of 2002, was enacted
to authorize the National Institute of Standard and Technology to work with major
manufacturing industries on an initiative of standards development and
implementation for electronic enterprise integration (H.R. 2733 (107th): Enterprise
Integration Act of 2002). According to the case background readings setting supply

Supply chain management is the active management of supply chain activities to
maximize customer value and achieve a sustainable competitive advantage. The
management of the supply chain involves the efforts of all partners in the supply
chain working together to effectively and efficiently deliver goods (Handfield, R,
20011). Supply chain standards that are shared globally throughout industries results
in methods and rules that allows predictability, and agreed standard and guidelines.
These standards will enable partners throughout the supply chain the freedom to
apply influence on industry standards that will result in sustainable business practices
that mirror the needs of and integrated supply chain aiding in maximum efficiency
throughout the chain.
To maintain a business, supply chain management needs strong certainties on the
everyday action of the business from all accomplices in the supply chain. To spare
cost and convey more products to more destinations quicker, a business and their
suppliers must have an institutionalized supply chain. The test is to place the
emphasis on stock inventory management instead of information management
(Spiegeleire, 2015). The absences of supply chain measures will build the expense of
inventory management, funds are forestalled and advantage opportunities over your
supply chain are lessened. Setting guidelines in the

year later, the Office of Chief Examiners was renamed the Bureau of Investigators. It

The selection process is intimidating. Real life FBI work is much different than the
things that may be seen on television. This job requires the ability to stay focused, a

leading careers resulting in death and/or injury, whether it be from physical
altercations or car accidents. Two deaths have also occurred during the training

One could imagine that a career such as this is nothing like what I shown on TV

also very likely for agents to not leave the office at all. Long hours behind a desk

Analysis Of Concerto For Violin And Cello
Concerto for Violin and Cello, Op.102 (Brahms, Johannes)
First movement Allegro.
The concert begins with an orchestral tutti of four measures that outlines the eventual
main theme of the movement; the cello collects the last three notes and launches
forward in an impassive and unaccompanied recitative, but at the right time, as
indicated. The wooden instruments gently present the second motif (in major key),
which is taken by the violins, who in turn develop it in the form of a rhapsody before
they join the cello in an extensive dialogue. Only after this does the course of the first
movement finally begin.
The main reasons are widely contrasted in character, being the first challenging and
passionate and the second warmly lyrical. Between both, in the initial presentation of
the orchestra of this material, appears a hectic and syncopated figure, which can be
heard later. Both motifs are then re exposed by the soloists on their own terms before
leading to a brief development and recapitulation section. At the end of this movement
the tonality of return to minor.
Second movement Andante.
A horn touch in ascending fourth, with an answer in the wooden instruments,
becomes the first four notes of the main theme of the Andante , a broad melody sung
by the two soloists in octaves. When the melody ceases, there is an abrupt change of
tone that provided pure pleasure and the wooden instruments offer a new and exciting
theme, trumpet plays the two notes that mark the

Drug Courts Essay
Drug courts are specialised programs aimed at criminal offenders who suffer from
drug and alcohol addiction (US Department of Justice, 2015, p.1). Drug courts
improve offenders quality of life by decreasing substance dependency and improve
mental wellbeing. Jane Lee, for the Age, explains people facing jail for drug and
alcohol charges may be placed on a two year treatment order, instead of serving jail
time. The purpose of a drug court is to secure and maintain drug users in treatment,
reduce non violent incarceration rates and recidivism among prior offenders
(Belenko, 1998, p.6).
This year, a drug court will be created at the Melbourne Magistrates Court, Farrah

is clear drug courts increase mental wellbeing and allow for offenders to return to a

Vow of Chastity
Religion is one of the most studied things in history due to its connection with our
daily lives, and how people choose to live. Catholics have a set of rules, sacraments,
and teachings that are in place to attain eternal life in the Kingdom of God. Vows and
vocations go hand in hand with the Catholic teaching, most Catholics will take a
vow of chastity as a way to commit themselves to God or to fulfill their vocation and
complete all seven sacraments in life by living the life Jesus taught us. Chastity is
seen as a virtue that excludes or moderates the indulgence of the sexual appetite, also

My thesis states that the federal government of United States of America should
legalize marijuana. Legalizing would not only benefit the people of need for
medical uses but also our economy for recreational use. In the year of 2014 the
state of Colorado was the one of the first few states to legalize the use of
recreational marijuana. Colorado retailers sold $386 million of medical marijuana
and $313 million for purely recreational purposes (Ingraham). Within one year of the
legalization of cannabis, Colorado cannabis market was able to generate nearly

significant but also the taxation of it will benefit sectors in need nationally. For an

the need for the field to constantly grow and improve is continuous. This is

One possible way to improve the quality of patient care besides technological

hospitals. If SMR is greater than one, an excess amount of deaths are listed. This
research analytically proved that an ICU with higher teamwork and
communication has a positive result on the patient s outcome. ICU s listed as
having high performance had an average SMR of 0.316, whereas the middle
preforming ICU s had an average SMR of 0.712, and low performing ICU s had a
mean SMR of 1.06. This displays that an ICU with poor teamwork has a much
greater chance of having excess deaths in comparison with an ICU that has strong
teamwork skills. The authors validate that this data is reliable as they clearly lay
out how every source of data was obtained, and how it relates to teamwork in
nursing. In addition, this article is credible as it is a University study, and all
authors are all highly educated in the field of nursing. The findings in this article are
incredibly relevant as they statistically prove that there is a need to implement a
higher level of teamwork in the ICU, if the Canadian health care system wants to
improve patient

The Issue Of Problem Gambling
Introduction to the policy you have chosen and why that policy is important

This paper will explore the issue of problem gambling, specifically focusing on
problem gambling as a major issue in Australian society. It will also compare
Australian gambling institutions with other international gambling institutions
including Las Vegas and, more importantly, Macau.
Gambling can be defined as an activity involving a participant who allows for
something of value or money to be put at risk. This includes playing poker machines,
online games that risk the loss of money, cards, casino games, as well as placing bets
on sporting events, and purchasing lottery tickets (Beyond Blue, 2010). Gambling is
currently a very prominent issue in Australia ... Show more content on

Gambling problems can create major financial problems, impact negatively on one s
family and other relationships, cause mental health issues such as depression and
anxiety due to addiction, and establish exposure of national and international serious
organised crime through VIP high rollers that come to Australia to gamble (Besser
and Richard, 2014). Therefore it is mandatory for policy regulations to be
implemented by Australian federal and state governments with the cooperation of
gambling establishments in order to assist in combatting the serious issue of
gambling in Australia.
Historical background to the issue and any historical precedents to current policy
Problem gambling is not a new issue and has occurred throughout the course of
history. Gambling has been obvious problem in the Australian community since the
arrival of the first fleet (Australian Government, 1999). Over time, more and more
people have taken up the addictive activity of gambling that becomes a large
problem for many individuals over time. Since the advancement of technology in
society, it has created a great impact on problem gambling. For instance, the
widespread use of smart phones and tablets with high tech capabilities has allowed
for owners to download games such as poker and play from anywhere at anytime

Analysis Of Barclays Ceo Bob Diamond
Introduction In June 2012, Barclays CEO Bob Diamond went before the Treasury
Select Committee in the U.K. House of Commons admitting that his company
manipulated the LIBOR (the London Inter Bank Offered Rate). LIBOR has been
used since 1969 as a reference rate in the operations of international financial
markets and become the basis for trillions of dollars of financial transactions. This
case study gives background and overview on the events that lead to and who were
all involved with what happened. Ethical challenges are ever present here with one
institution dealing with corruption and perceived cheating with all parties involved.

All this information, along with the set LIBOR rate is published daily. Once this
rate is set various transactions begin to take place all around the globe. Its
importance lies in being an indicator of world financial health especially dealing
with derivatives which are methods of pricing complex financial transactions. Far
Reaching Effects Each country and government has a stake in the LIBOR rate.
Between 2005 and 2008, staffs at Barclays acted inappropriately by manipulating
the process for the submission of rates. The manipulation allowed for the company
to generate millions in profit and/or reducing costs. This false representation had
far reaching effects particularly in America and the sub prime mortgage rate.
Many cities and municipals in the US had LIBOR based rate loans and bonds.
With the manipulations of derivatives by Barclays, one of the lead banking
institutions, that gave false rates for global transactions, it called into question the
reputation of the city of London being a world financial center. Public outcry due
to greed called into question the methods and process of banks as it pertained to
LIBOR rate. Barclays, specifically, involved a rogue group of derivative traders
along with other bankers influencing the final rate for greater profits and/or
reduction in loses. This showed evidence of collusion among traders as if this
practice was widespread if not encouraged or at least tolerated. Illegal or morally
The Importance Of The Internet
Today, the internet has become an indispensable part of many peoples lives. It has
revolutionized the communication system to a whole new different level that has
never been seen before. The internet is a source for disseminating information and a
medium for interaction regardless of geographical boundaries. Today, we have come
a long way from the days of letters and telegrams. In the current world, most people
have access to the internet, with a small fraction of people, especially in the
developing countries, who are not connected. The importance of the internet in today
s world cannot be underestimated as it has now become a necessity for conducting
day to day lives. Therefore, having access to the internet is not a luxury anymore but
should be a considered fundamental right for all citizens to create a fair and equal
society.(Sexton English)
The internet has grown as a powerful communication medium in the recent years. In
the early years of the 1990s, people began to feel its power and experience the ease
of information sourcing through its use. In the early years of computer invention, the
technology was limited to serve a small section of people within a given geographic
coverage.(Jacobs) Today, millions of people have access to the internet, changing
their lives drastically for the better. The standard form of information dissemination in
the early 20th century was through magazines and newspapers. The introduction of
the internet has been a defining

There were no major wars in Europe, though across the ocean the American War of
Independence raged from 1775 1783. Yet there was much discontent in Europe.
People were getting fed up with a two class social structure, in which a tiny group
of rich people at the top of the social scale held power over a vast number of poor
people at the bottom, people with virtually no rights and no way to climb out of
their poverty. But power was slowly changing hands from the aristocracy to the
growing middle class. This middle class came about partly through the Industrial
Revolution, which brought a sudden, massive increase in the number of jobs
available in mines, factories, and on the railroads. It was an age of invention: from
Watt s steam engine (1775) to the hot air balloon (1783) and carbonated soda (1785)!
A philosophical movement known as the Enlightenment took hold during this period.
People began to believe in the power of human reason to solve social problems, to
correct unjust behaviour, and to make their lives better. The rights of the individual,
freedom of thought, relaxation of censorship, and the gradual abolition of child
labour were just some of the changes that resulted from the
Determining The Density Of Liquid Layers Or Purifying...
Introduction Microscale involves using smaller amounts of chemicals and solids.
Therefore, the purpose is to determine the density, solubility, recrystallization,
extraction, separation, and drying of products by using small quantities. The mass of
volume was determined by using the density formula: Density= Weight (g) / volume
(mL). Solubilityis defined as the extent to which a substance is soluble.
Crystallization is a technique used for purifying solid compounds. The percent
recovery determined how much of the substance would remain after purification by
calculating: (amount of pure substance collected) / (amount of impure substance
began with) x 100. The separation of two liquid layers or purifying organic reaction
products is identified as extraction and is used to establish a state of equilibrium.
Discussion The densities of water and Hexane were determined by finding the
weight of water and hexane dispensed. The calculated density for water as seen in
Table 1 was 1.12g/ml. However, according to ACD/Labs (ChemSpider) the density
of water is 1.0g/mL. The difference between waters actual density and the density
found may be due to an error in the scale. The error may be due to the air flow
being blocked underneath the scale also resulting in an unbalanced scale. On the
other hand, the density of hexane was found to be 0.712g/ml and Sigma Aldrich
states that the density is 0.65g/mL. The density of Hexane is, therefore, also seen to
be less than what was found
My Goals Of The Time Management
After taking the time management quiz, I received a total score of seven out of ten.
My score of seven reflects good time management skills, however it does state
overall it could be improved in minor ways.
In regards to the quiz, the first area of improvement would involve to slow down. I
do always tend to feel I am in a hurry and rushed to do things. Whether it s in the
morning trying to get myself ready for work, getting my son ready for school and

aftercare before 6om and have to pay a few. I tend to also feel hurried in the
evening as I need to get home, provide dinner for my son before we turn around and
back out the door to attend his karate class. A second area of improvement of my time
management would be feeling less guilty if I take time for myself and/ or my family
instead of completing school work or studying. Although I do purposefully spend
time with my family, sometimes I feel that it may end up being too much time,
particularly not productive family time. I feel that I may end up spending too
much time getting caught up in doing things around the house that I do not put in
an adequate amount of time for my school work. This is my first semester back in
college after 20 years and I am still in the process of finding a good balance between,
work, personal and school life. Lastly, I should try to improve the overall feeling that
I work better under pressure. I tend to
Why Schools Should Provide Food Education Classes Essay
If asked, would you be able to explain in detail how the food you ate for dinner last
night was made and what ingredients it contained? Furthermore, would you be able
to identify the presence of corn in your meal? Unfortunately, the average American
would not be able to. Food is one of the most basic and essential human needs, yet it
is a topic that most of us know very little about. Tom Small believes that this should
change. Small asserts that parents nowadays do not have time to cook healthy meals,
let alone teach their kids how to shop for foodand cook. This dangerous new
phenomenon is compromising our health, our environment, and our consciousness. I
agree with Tom Small; schools should provide and require courses that teach students
how to cook and shop for themselves.
The first reason why schools should provide food education classes is because
nowadays, people do not know what they are eating. The majority of most
Americans would not be able to pronounce the names of the ingredients listed on
the package of the last snack food they consumed. Consumers ignore certain critical
questions about the quality and the cost of what they are sold: How fresh is it?
How clean or pure is it, how free of dangerous chemicals? ... When the food has been
manufactured or processed or precooked, how has that affected its quality or price or
nutritional value? (Berry, 24) It is of utmost importance that we understand what the
food that lines the grocery store shelves is actually

This process is started when the patient is still a child, often before any other
orthodontic treatment has begun. However, it can still be performed during later
stages of treatment.
Dentofacial orthopedic therapy usually focuses on correcting potential bite and
spacial problems by guiding the growth and development of the jaw. We do this by
using orthodontic appliances such as mouthguards, space maintainers, retainers,
expanders, and other devices.
This process is important because it helps to ensure the success of later orthodontic
treatment. In some cases, it can even prevent the need for braces down the road! For
instance, if a child s spacing issues can be resolved while their jaw is still developing
and their permanent teeth are still coming in, it may prevent teeth from becoming
crowded and needing braces to straighten them. Even if it doesn t prevent crowding

Merck Essay
Merck Co., Inc. Case
If one hold a key to resolve a very serious problem, one has a responsibility to put an
effort to make it happen, at least try one s best. In this case, river blindness disease
was a very serious problem, and Dr. Vagelos was the one who could make a decision
as to whether the research and development of a human version of ivermectin should
be carried on, then it was his responsibility to pursue it. Caused by a parasitic worm
carried by a tiny black fly, the disease brought about visual impairment and skin
lesions to millions of people. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimated in
1978 that some 340,000 people were blind because of onchocerciasis, and that a
million more were suffered from various ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, Merck employees found the words inspirational. Setting a goal to alleviate
the pain of millions of afflicted people in the Third World will consolidate the
company s culture and uplift employees morale. In addition to that, this is not the
first time that the company will give something back to the community: Merck
had already donated considerable quantities of streptomycin to Japan, which had
faced especially high levels of tuberculosis in the aftermath of the World War II a
philanthropy that was repeated in 1958 when the Merck Medical Outreach
Program donated antibiotics, antiparasitic agents and vaccines for humanitarian
efforts in developing countries and disaster zones (Rea, Zhang, amp; Baras, 2010)
That is to say, if the company sees this program through, it will do a great service to
the world once again. Second of all, the approval of the pursuit of the human
version of ivermactin does not mean that he has to fund the program all at once or
fund it with a big amount of money that will consequently affect other developments
or other lines of production. The funding can be from the profits that the company
made in the previous year. In fact, according to the case, annual net revenue has
increased every year in the past ten years. The funding for this project can be some
kind of a long term plan. It is better to initiate the funding that last a long
Racial Segregation, By Lorraine Hansberry
Seems like God don t see fit to give the black man nothing but dreams but He did
give us children to make the dreams seem worthwhile, once stated by Lorraine
Hansberry. Racial segregation has been a huge topic in our society. Believe it or
not, just a few decades ago African American people did not have the basic equality
rights that white citizens were given. Something as simple as having a dream to
become an author seemed out of reach; even impossible some might have said.
Living in this kind of a world was unfortunately a reality for Lorraine Hansberry.
Growing up she lived in a world of racial segregation and not being giving the same
opportunities as fellow white citizens in the United States. Throughout her life civil
rights was a major influence for her. Hansberry was able to express the unwavering
need for civil rights through her literature. Her poems and plays showed the unjust
treatment of African Americans. She was able to make a difference in her own life,
as well as the lives of her audience through her portrayal of pre civil rights. With this
in mind, Lorraine Hansberry was a major author, playwright, and activist during the
Harlem Renaissance. The Harlem Renaissance was a time of rebirth and renewal for
the African Americanpeoples. The African American peoples would express
themselves through music, writing, and art all through an autobiographical
standpoint. Because of the Harlem Renaissance, the African American society was
changed forever. The
Religion In Fight Club
Fight Club is a movie based on the book of the same name written by Chuck
Palahniuk. It was released in 1999 as a film directed by David Fincher. The film,
when first shown in theaters, did poorly falling well short of what 20th Century
Fox s expectations were. The major problem that the film had was its negativity
toward women with such lines as, we are a generation of men raised by women ,
as well as its portrayal of the film s leading female character Marla Singer who is
seemingly the root of all the nameless main character s problems. By contrast in the
movie are told to take back their masculinity and fight. After the film s release to
home video, a cult following quickly grew. A concern that sprouted from the film was

In many circles of Buddhism, they do not see themselves as religious but instead a
philosophy with no belief in a god or high power. Rather a higher understanding
called nirvana. The Buddhist tradition of nirvana is described as the extinguishing of
the fires that cause suffering. These fires are typically identified as the fires of
attachment, aversion, and ignorance. Once again in this belief we see the idea of
letting go and becoming more aware about the self. There are many types of
enlightenment in Buddhism but the most prevalent is nirvana and the release from
rebirth cycles. Where there is nothing; where naught is grasped, there is the Isle of
No Beyond. Nirvana do I call it the utter extinction of aging and dying. There is that
dimension where there is neither earth, nor water, nor fire, nor wind; neither
dimension of the infinitude of space, nor dimension of the infinitude of
consciousness, nor dimension of nothingness, nor dimension of neither perception
nor non perception; neither this world, nor the next world, nor sun, nor moon. And
there, I say, there is neither coming, nor going, nor stasis; neither passing away nor
arising: without stance, without foundation, without support. This, just this, is the
end of stress. (Sakya 48) So what does any of this have to do with the story in Fight
Club? In the beginning of the story our nameless protagonist is suffering from
insomnia. Three weeks and I hadn t slept. Three weeks

Pottery
Thesis: The Japanese aesthetics of irregularity and simplicity manifest in the artistic
creations in calligraphy, make up brushes and pottery. Through an examination of the
both the process by which these items are created as well as the final object made,
the soul and personality of the creator emerges.
Paragraph 1:Caligraphy Irregularity
Each Japanese Calligrapher reveals a part of their soul through each unique stroke. A

This idea fosters love for creating and exploring and discovering new methods of
art. The art is elegant unpretentious and yet highly complex. The accidental beauties
of calligraphy are the puzzle pieces to the artist s soul. The viewer identifies the
differences in the art and recognizes the parts of the artists. Each complex
irregularity is a complex characteristic of the artist. The irregularities of calligraphy
are complex yet the art is simple. The paradoxical art of simplicity and complexity
centers itself to communicate the self expression of the artist.
Paragraph2: Calligraphy Simplicity
Starting with the simple structure of a brush, and a hand made paper, a calligrapher
can create anything he or she desires. The Japanese atheistic of simplicity is present
within the tools. Each tool has one simple job, however, no brush or paper is made
the same as well as the artists who use them. In Hannah s pecha kucha, she explains
the beginning of the process of calligraphy. Hannah mentions the importance of the
brushes in calligraphy and their connection to simplicity. She analyzes,
Furthermore, no two artists are the same. Each one possesses his or hers own
preference and style; some brushes are incredibly elegant with family names
inscribed on the handles. Well others appear as if they were made from a stick of
bamboo. Ultimately it does not matter how expensive a tool may be but
Quality Over Quantity Of Medicine
Quality Over Quantity
Medicine has two different, straightforward meanings the first refers to the science of
healing the promotion of health, and the practice of the diagnosis, treatment, and
prevention of disease. The second definition is the medications, drugs, substances
used to treat and cure diseases, and to promote health (Nordqvist). The prime
objective of medicine is to cure the patient of the affliction that has hijacked their
bodies, which is why patients come to see a doctor in the first place. Another
objective of practicing medicine is trying to make the patient happy in the light of the
sickness they are trying to fight through. To accomplish this, we keep the patient
comfortable, have a friendly demeanor when speaking ... Show more content on

Certain medical treatments can vigorously impair quality of life without providing
noticeable benefit, whereas other medical treatments greatly strengthen the quality
of life. Quality of life is a broad multidimensional concept that usually includes
subjective evaluations of both positive and negative aspects of life (Health Related
Quality of Life (HRQOL). Quality of life has a connotation to everyone, for each
individual defines it in their own way. Quality of life includes physical and mental
health perceptions such as energy level, mood, awareness and how they correlate to
health risks and conditions, functional status, social support, and socioeconomic
status. Key territories of overall quality of life are components of culture, values
and spirituality that add to the complication of figuring out the quality of life for
each patient. Quality of life is an important consideration in medical care and with
its growing advances. Quality of life issues have historically played an important
part in the nursing role of patient advocacy. In Year 2000 Oncology Nursing Society
Research Priorities Survey by Mary E. Ropka, the results showed that the quality of
life ranked second among the top twenty research priorities of the oncology nurses.
Ultimately, the path to find a common ground on this controversy must be found
soon, considering all patients lives matter and even the small things in the last few
days can impact
The s Front Door At Seven O Clock On A Sunday
Opening Sweetgreen s front door, I instantly felt out of place. At seven o clock on a
Sunday evening, the small salad shop was a place filled with almost all females. Even
though I was anticipating this result, I still found it hard to believe that this restaurant
was always occupied by entirely women. Upon asking an employee about whether my
observation was something that occurs often, he responded, we are Sweetgreen. Of
course, we get a lot more girls than guys. The fact that Sweetgreen attracts girls must
have something to do with how it brands itself. After having trouble finding any
advertisements for the brand online, I concluded that the marketing that attracts these
females must be in the store. After going back to Sweetgreen, I came to the
conclusion that whether intentional or not, Sweetgreen is marketed toward the
stereotypical femaleas seen through its core values, decor, menu options, and
service. Sweetgreen utilizes the fact that the mass media encourages women to
obtain a thin figure, as discussed by Susan Bordo in Hunger as Ideology, in order
to sell their product. Bordo explains that advertisements teach women to view long,
slim legs, a flat stomach, and a firm rear end as essentials of female beauty. (102)
Because advertisers constantly convince women that achieving a thin figure is
important, women eventually became self critical of their bodies. This causes
women to push toward this ideal image by losing weight by eating fewer calories. By
Autonomy vs Love in Bronte s Jane Eyre Essay
From songs, to television, to books, and even to newspapers, the need for love is
universal. Love is an emotional necessity that even Jane, from Charlotte Bronte s
book Jane Eyre, cannot ignore. Throughout the story line, Jane is constantly
searching to find love. She was looking, not just for the love of a man, but for the
love of a family. However, Jane s search for love sometimes ends up challenging
her autonomy. While Jane is longing for love, she is not willing to give up her
independence for it. Yet as Jane becomes older and her independence grows, she
realizes that, while one needs to be independent, she also needs love in her life. In
the early years of Jane s life, she was a very autonomous girl. She grew up with her
aunt Mrs.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Bronte 81) Helen spent the time to elucidate to Jane that the love of another was
not to be thought of as so much. Helen became one of Jane s only friends and
helped to guide Jane through the difficult times during her schooling. Though, the
friendship did not last long, and Helen died from the typhus fever at a young age.
Jane was able to find some love at Lowood, but not enough to keep her sustained.
After 6 years of education, and 2 years of teaching, she left the school in search for
a new atmosphere and job. Jane finds a job as a governess at Thornfield Hall. She
teaches a young French girl named Adele, to whom she grows a fondness for. As a
lover, Jane was a neophyte, but she soon found the love that she had always craved
for. She fell in love with the master of the home, Mr. Rochester, and after some
time, he asked her to marry him. I think you good, gifted, lovely: a fervent, a
solemn passion is conceived in my heart, it leans to you. . . It was because I felt
and knew this that I resolved to marry you (Bronte 383). Jane soon finds out
though, that Mr. Rochester already has a wife Bertha Mason. Bertha has gone mad
though, and is locked in a room for the safety of others. Jane is unable to accept Mr.
Rochester s marriage proposal because, as Rochester was a married man,
The Consequences Of Drinking And Driving
Driving a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol is one of the most
dangerous things someone can do. There is a huge amount of research that has
proved that driving performance and reaction times are highly affected by alcohol.
Driving while intoxicated slows down your reaction time, impairs your ability to
drive, slurs speech, can make you have double vision, lose of self control, poor
coordination, loss of consciousness, causes you to make choices you normally
wouldn t, and also can lead to death. Drinking and driving is a poor choice to make
but some of the causes may be peer pressure, perhaps the person believes they are not
that drunk, they are scared or ashamed to call someone for help. many people drink
and drive without thinking of the consequences because drinking suppresses the
ability to rationalize... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The embarrassment associated with having to deal with the devices set up in a
persons car is not humiliating enough. Similarly, repeat offenders will be more
likely to keep off the streets ensuring safety of other people. This results in two fold
benefits. DUI offenders must follow the laws or face the consequences. In
addition, it will not be possible for offenders to drive while under the influence
with the installed device(Robin). Drinking and driving is a horrible idea it puts a
person at a huge disadvantage and the chance pf them to cause injury to others are
a lot more likely while under the influence. Because Alcohol is a depressant and
many people driving already lack the skills needed to drive safely when sober,
drinking only lowers those skills more than they already are which in return makes
people reckless and show an extreme disregard for there own life but also

What Is Happiness Essay

  • 1. What Is Happiness Essay Crafting an essay on the elusive subject of happiness is no small feat. Happiness, a concept as vast and intricate as the human experience itself, poses a considerable challenge for anyone attempting to encapsulate its essence within the confines of an essay. The difficulty lies not only in defining happiness but also in navigating the intricate web of perspectives, philosophies, and cultural nuances that surround this abstract emotion. To embark on such an endeavor is to grapple with the complexities of human emotions, societal expectations, and personal beliefs. One must navigate through the multifaceted dimensions of happiness, considering its subjective nature and the myriad factors that contribute to its elusive presence in our lives. Attempting to articulate a universally accepted definition of happiness becomes a task fraught with the inherent diversity of human experiences and the myriad ways in which individuals perceive and pursue fulfillment. Furthermore, the challenge lies in avoiding the pitfalls of clichГ©s and oversimplifications that often plague discussions on happiness. It necessitates a nuanced exploration of the psychological, philosophical, and cultural facets that shape our understanding of what it means to be happy. Unraveling the layers of happiness requires delving into the realms of psychology, sociology, and even neuroscience to comprehend the intricate interplay of biological and environmental factors. Moreover, the task is compounded by the fact that happiness is not a static state but a dynamic, evolving concept. What brings joy and contentment to one person may not necessarily have the same effect on another. Thus, the essayist must navigate the intricacies of individual differences and cultural influences that contribute to the ever-shifting landscape of happiness. In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of happiness demands a careful and thoughtful exploration of the complexities inherent in the human pursuit of joy and fulfillment. It involves weaving together threads from various disciplines, acknowledging diverse perspectives, and avoiding the pitfalls of oversimplification. The task is not merely to define happiness but to embark on a journey of understanding the myriad ways in which it manifests in our lives. • 2. Trade Imbalance Between China And China In the 18th century, Chinese goods such as silk and porcelain were much desired by European and had a huge demand in the Western market. In England, tea was the most desired Chinese good and trade in tea was very lucrative. However, this created a trade imbalance because Western goods had no market in China. China was a self sustaining country and that make it harder for Western merchant to trade with them. Apart from that, the merchants had a hard time getting into Chinese market and had to deal through Chinese middlemen in Canton. At this point, the British money had moved on from silver, but the Chinese were still using silver currency. In order to trade with the Chinese, the British first had to buy silver for other countries and then ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Several debates on opium legalization were carried out. Advocates of legalization suggest that opium should be tax and it will reduce the outflow of Chinese silver. At the end of the debates, Emperor Daoguang of the Qing dynasty instructed Lin Zexu, a governor general, to abolish the opium trade. Zexu was sent to Canton and he made some quick changes. He declared death penalty for anyone found importing or in possession of opium. Zexu arrested over a thousand Chinese opium dealer and confiscate approximately seventy thousands of opium pipes, in a matter of months. The tipping point though was in March of 1839, when Zexu confiscated and destroyed over twenty thousands of opium chest. The British merchants were enraged by Zexu s action and demanded compensation for their seized good. Initially, Superintendent Charles Elliot assured the merchant traders the British government would be providing compensation for the seized good. The British government, however, held the Chinese government responsible for the seized opium. The British soon sent a fleet to China, with a list of demands. The demands include compensation for the seized goods, right to trade without middlemen, and an island to use as a base. Initially, the Chinese showed some resistance and the British began their blockage. The British defeated most of the Chinese resistance relatively easy and caused the Chinese life. The British moved north and defeated more Chinese forces in

I have been told I attended church willingly and faithfully since before I could comprehend my own faith. At age 5 I began to ask my parents questions about everything; I was curious. Being such a curious child, all I wanted was to ask a question that she didn t know the answer to. When I happened upon the topic of church, my mom seemed to have all the right answers. Accepting the challenge at hand, I moved on to more difficult questions about religion. I finally got to the abstract question that got her thinking. I wanted to be assertive and not aggressive in sharing my faith. I met a girl in English class named Allison who I invite to attend Wednesday night church with me. She accepted saying that I should come to her church the following Wednesday. Excited, she invited me to her Christian Club meeting after school on Tuesday in room 216. She said they called it C2. I thought what on earth is C2 and how are they allowed to meet about their religion at the school? I asked my parents and they said yes, so I decided to give it a go. I was immediately introduced to many traditions in what I soon found to be my home away from home. I began to sign up to bring cookies and found a joy deeper than I had ever felt in baking. Due to my varying interests and talents, my dad told me baking was just a fun pipe dream, but I got to have my fun in the kitchen on the occasional Monday night thanks to C2. We continued to make a difference in every way we could around the school, renovating fences and providing uniforms for under privileged students. I finished 8th grade strong and confidently prepared to face high school. Over the summer, my friends informed me that there was no Christian Club at my new high school that met
  • 4. Alexander Pope And Jonathan Swift And Materialism Analysis Society s view of women have changed over time, but have always had objectifying tendencies. During the 18th century, cosmetic alteration to natural beauty and materialism heightened, which resulted in a change in the way society viewed women. This change objectified women and scrutinized them more than in previous time periods. Authors such as Alexander Pope and Jonathan Swift convey these views throughout their writings. Pope s Rape of the Lock exposes the materialism used in objectifying women, mainly in the upper class societal levels. The plot of the story centers a materialistic goal, as the lock of hair that was cut from a womans head became so called evidence of a man s sexual conquest. Other sexual conquests, forced or not, are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another way to analyze the list is that the Bibles are brought down to the materialistic level of the other listed cosmetics. Both ways conclude that the cosmetic, material items compare at the same level as the Bible s paired along with them. Another list comes with a comparison of paired items that contradict each other s importance. His comparisons include claims about dreadful occurrences that may compare to ...stain[ing] her honor, or her new brocade,/ [to] forget her prayers, or miss a masquerade,/ Or lose her heart, or necklace, at a ball;... (Pope II 106 107). The first description used in each line is something of importance, as staining honor, forgetting prayers or losing her heart all have serious implications. More serious actions are then paired with trivial material ones; staining a new brocade, missing a masquerade or losing a necklace at a ball. Pairing material actions with important ones unify them as being on the same level of importance. The contradiction is removed and materialism is elevated. Objectification of women goes hand and hand with materialism. When Pope speaks of the sexual conquests in The Rape of the Lock, he only focuses on the material aspects that result from sex. He first speaks of the Baron, who states he will win his prize by force to ravish, or by fraud betray; as he will try anything to achieve his goal (Pope II 32). The aspect of using force emphasizes
  • 5. Essay On The EU During his State of the European Union address on September 13, European Commission President Jean Claude Junker called for additional inclusion of the Balkan group of member states, stating that It is high time to bring Romania and Bulgaria into the Schengen area and that the EU must offer credible membership prospects to Western Balkans. This, however, seemed only to be the begging of his intention for certain countries, such as Bulgaria, which is heavily vetted to become a member of the Eurozone. This effort seems to be supported by Euro zone leaders, such as Macron and Merkel. They both manifested their interest in helping Bulgaria join the ERM 2 mechanism (commonly referred to as the waiting room for the Euro) during Bulgarian... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When comparing these to Bulgaria s data, there is a striking compliance, given its fairly low inflation, small fiscal deficit, and an extremely low public debt mark. Bulgaria s HICP inflation levels are well within the range of the eurozone average, and its budget is in surplus at 1.6 per cent, compared to the limit of 3% of deficit stipulated by the Maastricht criteria. Moreover, its debt ratio is at 29%, which is excellent when compared to the 60% peg given by the Euro requirements. The country s bonds are showing interest rates within the 4% required as well, and most importantly perhaps, as much as Bulgaria has not yet triggered the ERM II (exchange rate mechanism) process, it has pegged its national currency, the lev, for almost 20 years. The lev was first pegged in 1997 to the German Mark, and later in 1999 to the Euro until now, with a constant rate of 0.511494. Given such compliance, it comes to little surprise that Junker stated: I have to say bully that Bulgaria is ready [to join the euro group]. And if Bulgaria is applying I support this heartily. There are unfortunately some additional things to consider from Bulgaria s status in the EU. Skepticism may come from the country s status as being the most corrupt country in the EU according to Transparency International. Additionally, its status as being the poorest
  • 6. The Tradition Of Attending College The tradition of attending college has changed over the past fifty years. Previously, college was provided to those privileged students who wanted to receive an education beyond high school. Today this still remains the case, but now most teenagers attend college to ensure and strengthen their future. In today s society, a collegedegree does not even promise a successful job, but it still serves as a social norm. For some, college is not even an option due to their financial status, and for others, the college life does not seem to suit them. (Mitchell). An article published by SAGE reported that Of U.S. students in a 4 year colleges, 40% take at least one remedial course, an act associated with a higher likelihood of not completing a college degree. As more students take remediation, fail to be retained, and enter underprepared for credit bearing courses, investigating college readiness is increasingly important (Tierney). All of the following articles support the idea I propose. Looking at the amount of students taking remedial courses once they enter a post secondary institution can show proof of the lack of preparation. Instead of building upon the knowledge they have already gained from high school, they now have to participate in remedial courses that will refresh the basics. Students have dreams to go to college and unfortunately they are not prepared for what college has in store. High school and college. Two very close transitions with very little time in between them. High school does not become crucial until junior

The Cinematic Interpretations of The Lord of the Flies by William Golding The two cinematic versions of William Golding s Lord of the Flies are very different. They still both deal dramatically with the basic theme, of a group of boys who have come from a strict and ordered background to becoming like savages, hunting, and killing like blood thirsty animals. The book deals with issues which relate to the Cold War between the United States of America and Russia which is better reflected in the Brook version rather than the Harry Hook version. One of the most basic and apparent themes is that society holds everyone together, and without these conditions, our ideals, values and the basics of right and wrong are lost. Without humanity s rigid rules, anarchy and savagery can come to light. Brook and Hook are also showing as the book does that morals come directly from our surroundings, and if there is no civilisation around us, we will then lose these values. I personally as a young viewer see that Hook s version is more exciting to an audience because it can be viewed with more technical advances to the film. Also in the Hook version it is easy to see another theme which is not made that obvious in the Brook version. The fear of the unknown (in this case the beast is unknown and is put into the boy s heads by their imaginations) can be a powerful force, which can turn people to either insight or hysteria. The boys end up killing Simon because the happenings which have occurred have lead them to believe that there is a beast on the island with them, when in fact it is just the pilot. However the black and white version does have some advantages which the colour version does not have. These include benefits such as the story, which is virtually the same as the book so you get the same idea that the book gives you. An additional advantage of the Brook cinematic
  • 9. Symbolism In The Faerie Queene Intentions of The Faerie Queene In The Faerie Queene , Spencer Edmund produces an allegory. His intention was to relate England in the 1590s to a mythical land in which each character had a symbolic meaning as well as the events they were undergoing. He lived in an era where Roman Catholicism was replaced with Protestantismand he dedicated himself to unconsciously teach and educate his readers the Catholic Churchwas corrupted and was the wrong religion to follow. For this reason, he gave each character a common role who would relate to anyone in England and showed the readers how his role in the story symbolized good or evil. The themes he expressed in his books talked about his interpretation in religion, politics, symbolism, and his dedication to make his allegoryas influential as possible. As mentioned before, Spencer s feelings about Catholicism were extremely important because in time, England s religious beliefs represented the aspects and motivations of the good and evil. Being the reason why England separated from the Catholic church and formed the Protestant Church, since they defined Catholicism to be evil and dirty. This is when he decided to share his beliefs and write several books that could be interpreted to reveal a hidden moral message. It was a genius idea because he described the protagonists to be knights and princesses as protestants, and the antagonists to be evil snakes and the devil himself that symbolized the Catholic Church. It is typical to

The test is to place the emphasis on stock inventory management instead of information management (Spiegeleire, 2015). The absences of supply chain measures will build the expense of inventory management, funds are forestalled and advantage opportunities over your supply chain are lessened. Setting guidelines in the

  • 15. Analysis Of Concerto For Violin And Cello Concerto for Violin and Cello, Op.102 (Brahms, Johannes) First movement Allegro. The concert begins with an orchestral tutti of four measures that outlines the eventual main theme of the movement; the cello collects the last three notes and launches forward in an impassive and unaccompanied recitative, but at the right time, as indicated. The wooden instruments gently present the second motif (in major key), which is taken by the violins, who in turn develop it in the form of a rhapsody before they join the cello in an extensive dialogue. Only after this does the course of the first movement finally begin. The main reasons are widely contrasted in character, being the first challenging and passionate and the second warmly lyrical. Between both, in the initial presentation of the orchestra of this material, appears a hectic and syncopated figure, which can be heard later. Both motifs are then re exposed by the soloists on their own terms before leading to a brief development and recapitulation section. At the end of this movement the tonality of return to minor. Second movement Andante. A horn touch in ascending fourth, with an answer in the wooden instruments, becomes the first four notes of the main theme of the Andante , a broad melody sung by the two soloists in octaves. When the melody ceases, there is an abrupt change of tone that provided pure pleasure and the wooden instruments offer a new and exciting theme, trumpet plays the two notes that mark the

Legalizing would not only benefit the people of need for medical uses but also our economy for recreational use. In the year of 2014 the state of Colorado was the one of the first few states to legalize the use of recreational marijuana. Colorado retailers sold $386 million of medical marijuana and $313 million for purely recreational purposes (Ingraham). One possible way to improve the quality of patient care besides technological advancements is the use of teamwork. The American journal of critical care studied nine large hospitals along the east coast of the United States in an attempt to discover if a link between teamwork and patient outcome occurs in the ICU (Wheelan, S., Burchill, C., Tilin, F., 2003). In this article the standardized mortality ratio, SMR, which is a ratio between observed and expected deaths was studied and used as a comparison between hospitals. If SMR is greater than one, an excess amount of deaths are listed. This research analytically proved that an ICU with higher teamwork and communication has a positive result on the patient s outcome. ICU s listed as having high performance had an average SMR of 0.316, whereas the middle preforming ICU s had an average SMR of 0.712, and low performing ICU s had a mean SMR of 1.06. This displays that an ICU with poor teamwork has a much greater chance of having excess deaths in comparison with an ICU that has strong teamwork skills. The authors validate that this data is reliable as they clearly lay out how every source of data was obtained, and how it relates to teamwork in nursing. In addition, this article is credible as it is a University study, and all authors are all highly educated in the field of nursing. All this information, along with the set LIBOR rate is published daily. Once this rate is set various transactions begin to take place all around the globe. Its importance lies in being an indicator of world financial health especially dealing with derivatives which are methods of pricing complex financial transactions. Far Reaching Effects Each country and government has a stake in the LIBOR rate. Between 2005 and 2008, staffs at Barclays acted inappropriately by manipulating the process for the submission of rates. The manipulation allowed for the company to generate millions in profit and/or reducing costs. This false representation had far reaching effects particularly in America and the sub prime mortgage rate. Many cities and municipals in the US had LIBOR based rate loans and bonds. With the manipulations of derivatives by Barclays, one of the lead banking institutions, that gave false rates for global transactions, it called into question the reputation of the city of London being a world financial center. Public outcry due to greed called into question the methods and process of banks as it pertained to LIBOR rate. Barclays, specifically, involved a rogue group of derivative traders along with other bankers influencing the final rate for greater profits and/or reduction in loses. This showed evidence of collusion among traders as if this practice was widespread if not encouraged or at least tolerated. Illegal or morally

There were no major wars in Europe, though across the ocean the American War of Independence raged from 1775 1783. Yet there was much discontent in Europe. People were getting fed up with a two class social structure, in which a tiny group of rich people at the top of the social scale held power over a vast number of poor people at the bottom, people with virtually no rights and no way to climb out of their poverty. But power was slowly changing hands from the aristocracy to the growing middle class. This middle class came about partly through the Industrial Revolution, which brought a sudden, massive increase in the number of jobs available in mines, factories, and on the railroads. It was an age of invention: from Watt s steam engine (1775) to the hot air balloon (1783) and carbonated soda (1785)! A philosophical movement known as the Enlightenment took hold during this period. • 33. Determining The Density Of Liquid Layers Or Purifying... Introduction Microscale involves using smaller amounts of chemicals and solids. Therefore, the purpose is to determine the density, solubility, recrystallization, extraction, separation, and drying of products by using small quantities. The mass of volume was determined by using the density formula: Density= Weight (g) / volume (mL). Solubilityis defined as the extent to which a substance is soluble. Crystallization is a technique used for purifying solid compounds. The percent recovery determined how much of the substance would remain after purification by calculating: (amount of pure substance collected) / (amount of impure substance began with) x 100. The separation of two liquid layers or purifying organic reaction products is identified as extraction and is used to establish a state of equilibrium. Discussion The densities of water and Hexane were determined by finding the weight of water and hexane dispensed. The calculated density for water as seen in Table 1 was 1.12g/ml. However, according to ACD/Labs (ChemSpider) the density of water is 1.0g/mL. The difference between waters actual density and the density found may be due to an error in the scale. The error may be due to the air flow being blocked underneath the scale also resulting in an unbalanced scale. On the other hand, the density of hexane was found to be 0.712g/ml and Sigma Aldrich states that the density is 0.65g/mL. The density of Hexane is, therefore, also seen to be less than what was found

Growing up she lived in a world of racial segregation and not being giving the same opportunities as fellow white citizens in the United States. Throughout her life civil rights was a major influence for her. Hansberry was able to express the unwavering need for civil rights through her literature. Her poems and plays showed the unjust treatment of African Americans. She was able to make a difference in her own life, as well as the lives of her audience through her portrayal of pre civil rights. With this in mind, Lorraine Hansberry was a major author, playwright, and activist during the Harlem Renaissance. The Harlem Renaissance was a time of rebirth and renewal for the African Americanpeoples. The African American peoples would express themselves through music, writing, and art all through an autobiographical standpoint. Because of the Harlem Renaissance, the African American society was changed forever. The
  • 43. Religion In Fight Club Fight Club is a movie based on the book of the same name written by Chuck Palahniuk. It was released in 1999 as a film directed by David Fincher. The film, when first shown in theaters, did poorly falling well short of what 20th Century Fox s expectations were. The major problem that the film had was its negativity toward women with such lines as, we are a generation of men raised by women , as well as its portrayal of the film s leading female character Marla Singer who is seemingly the root of all the nameless main character s problems. By contrast in the movie are told to take back their masculinity and fight. After the film s release to home video, a cult following quickly grew. In many circles of Buddhism, they do not see themselves as religious but instead a philosophy with no belief in a god or high power. Rather a higher understanding called nirvana. The Buddhist tradition of nirvana is described as the extinguishing of the fires that cause suffering. These fires are typically identified as the fires of attachment, aversion, and ignorance. Once again in this belief we see the idea of letting go and becoming more aware about the self. There are many types of enlightenment in Buddhism but the most prevalent is nirvana and the release from rebirth cycles. Where there is nothing; where naught is grasped, there is the Isle of No Beyond. Nirvana do I call it the utter extinction of aging and dying. There is that dimension where there is neither earth, nor water, nor fire, nor wind; neither dimension of the infinitude of space, nor dimension of the infinitude of consciousness, nor dimension of nothingness, nor dimension of neither perception nor non perception; neither this world, nor the next world, nor sun, nor moon. And there, I say, there is neither coming, nor going, nor stasis; neither passing away nor arising: without stance, without foundation, without support. This, just this, is the end of stress. (Sakya 48) So what does any of this have to do with the story in Fight Club? In the beginning of the story our nameless protagonist is suffering from insomnia. Three weeks and I hadn t slept. Each complex irregularity is a complex characteristic of the artist. The irregularities of calligraphy are complex yet the art is simple. The paradoxical art of simplicity and complexity centers itself to communicate the self expression of the artist. Quality Over Quantity Of Medicine Quality Over Quantity Medicine has two different, straightforward meanings the first refers to the science of healing the promotion of health, and the practice of the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. The second definition is the medications, drugs, substances used to treat and cure diseases, and to promote health (Nordqvist). The prime objective of medicine is to cure the patient of the affliction that has hijacked their bodies, which is why patients come to see a doctor in the first place. Another objective of practicing medicine is trying to make the patient happy in the light of the sickness they are trying to fight through. Certain medical treatments can vigorously impair quality of life without providing noticeable benefit, whereas other medical treatments greatly strengthen the quality of life. Quality of life is a broad multidimensional concept that usually includes subjective evaluations of both positive and negative aspects of life (Health Related Quality of Life (HRQOL). Quality of life has a connotation to everyone, for each individual defines it in their own way. Quality of life includes physical and mental health perceptions such as energy level, mood, awareness and how they correlate to health risks and conditions, functional status, social support, and socioeconomic status. Key territories of overall quality of life are components of culture, values and spirituality that add to the complication of figuring out the quality of life for each patient. Quality of life is an important consideration in medical care and with its growing advances. Quality of life issues have historically played an important part in the nursing role of patient advocacy. In Year 2000 Oncology Nursing Society Research Priorities Survey by Mary E. Ropka, the results showed that the quality of life ranked second among the top twenty research priorities of the oncology nurses. Ultimately, the path to find a common ground on this controversy must be found soon, considering all patients lives matter and even the small things in the last few days can impact

At seven o clock on a Sunday evening, the small salad shop was a place filled with almost all females. Even though I was anticipating this result, I still found it hard to believe that this restaurant was always occupied by entirely women. Upon asking an employee about whether my observation was something that occurs often, he responded, we are Sweetgreen. Of course, we get a lot more girls than guys. The fact that Sweetgreen attracts girls must have something to do with how it brands itself. After having trouble finding any advertisements for the brand online, I concluded that the marketing that attracts these females must be in the store. After going back to Sweetgreen, I came to the conclusion that whether intentional or not, Sweetgreen is marketed toward the stereotypical femaleas seen through its core values, decor, menu options, and service. Sweetgreen utilizes the fact that the mass media encourages women to obtain a thin figure, as discussed by Susan Bordo in Hunger as Ideology, in order to sell their product. Bordo explains that advertisements teach women to view long, slim legs, a flat stomach, and a firm rear end as essentials of female beauty. (102) Because advertisers constantly convince women that achieving a thin figure is important, women eventually became self critical of their bodies. This causes women to push toward this ideal image by losing weight by eating fewer calories. By

She teaches a young French girl named Adele, to whom she grows a fondness for. As a lover, Jane was a neophyte, but she soon found the love that she had always craved for. She fell in love with the master of the home, Mr. Rochester, and after some time, he asked her to marry him. I think you good, gifted, lovely: a fervent, a solemn passion is conceived in my heart, it leans to you. . . It was because I felt and knew this that I resolved to marry you (Bronte 383). Jane is unable to accept Mr. Rochester s marriage proposal because, as Rochester was a married man,
