Essays On Race
Writing an essay on the topic of "Essays on Race" presents a multifaceted challenge that extends
beyond mere articulation of ideas. It requires a delicate balance of sensitivity, critical analysis,
and a deep understanding of the complexities surrounding race, ethnicity, and their intersections
with various social, cultural, and historical contexts.
Firstly, delving into such a topic demands a comprehensive exploration of the historical roots and
contemporary manifestations of race-based ideologies and discrimination. This necessitates
extensive research into scholarly literature, historical documents, sociological studies, and diverse
perspectives to construct a nuanced understanding of the subject matter.
Secondly, navigating the complexities of race requires a high level of cultural competence and
awareness of the diverse lived experiences of individuals from different racial and ethnic
backgrounds. It involves engaging with uncomfortable truths, acknowledging privilege, and
confronting systemic injustices while maintaining a respectful and empathetic tone throughout
the discourse.
Furthermore, crafting an essay on race requires the ability to critically analyze and deconstruct
prevailing narratives and stereotypes surrounding race, challenging dominant discourses, and
amplifying marginalized voices and perspectives. This entails exercising caution to avoid
perpetuating harmful stereotypes or inadvertently reinforcing existing power dynamics.
Moreover, addressing the topic of race necessitates a commitment to reflexivity and self-
examination, recognizing one's own biases, privileges, and positionality within the broader
discourse on race. It requires humility, openness to constructive criticism, and a willingness to
engage in uncomfortable conversations that may challenge preconceived notions and ideologies.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Essays on Race" is a formidable task that
demands intellectual rigor, cultural competence, empathy, and a commitment to social justice. It
requires navigating through complex historical, social, and political landscapes while amplifying
marginalized voices and challenging systemic inequalities. However, it is a crucial endeavor in
fostering understanding, dialogue, and ultimately, contributing to the pursuit of a more equitable
and inclusive society.

Walking Team Lab
Walking Team Lab Questions
1.Describe the shape of a graph of an object moving with uniform motion. (1) The
shape of a graph of an object moving with uniform motion is linear, meaning with a
straight line and a constant slope. Since, uniform motion means that the speed is
constant and the object is moving in the same direction, the graph will have linear
data and its constant slope can be represented with a line of best fit. In other words,
the speed and the direction of the object remain the same for all of the motion that
the object does, which determines the shape of a graph with an object moving
uniformly. The results of uniform motion are represented by a line of best fit on this
graph as the motion is in a straight line and the line ... Show more content on

In our lab, as time passed by the walker walked at a constant speed and in the same
direction (uniformly) for 30m. The uniform motion in this lab gave us the outcome
of a linear shape on graph with a line of best fit which is increasing from left to right
as its moving away from the origin and a constant slope that remains consistent in
direction.
2.How is the speed of an object related to the shape of the graph? (1) The speed of
an object is related to the shape of a graph because depending on whether the speed
varies during the motion or remains constant, the graph s shape will be affected. If
the speed of the graph remains the same (uniform) the shape of the graph will be
linear. If the speed of the object varies (non uniform), the graph will have variations
in the data for the position which depends on the slowing down and speeding up of
the object, leaving us with the outcome of a curve of best fit or a parabola shape. The
graph will be in the form of a non linear shape. The speed of an object s motion on
the graph represents the slope of the graph. A linear graph with straight
HAPI Medical Professional Liability Case Study
My view of the HAPI medical professional liability program (program)
administrated by CAP remains favorable. My review of the selected claim files
revealed no deficiencies in either their reserving or in the management of the
claims. The HAPI claim files continue to be solely managed by CAP s Sr. Claims
Specialist, Steve Weitzer who has been overseeing this program for the past 19
years. Mr. Weitzer reports directly to HAPI s Executive Vice President, Norm

Nuclear vs. Petroleum (Energy)
Dillon G. Nuclear Energy vs. Conventional Petroleum Energy
Through out the history of the United states the main source of energy has been
conventional Oil, Coal, and gas energy, or better known as Conventional petroleum
energy. However as the demand for electricity sky rockets the pollution produced
from the traditional fossil fuel burning plants is reaching dangerous levels. Gas, coal
and oil burning power plants are as of now responsible for half of America s air
pollution (tripod/online). Not to mention fossil fuels are the greatest contributors to
global warming in today s society.
Burning coal produces massive amounts of carbon dioxide which slowly eats away

Another plus to nuclear energy is, international relations will have little effect on the
supply of fuel to the reactors because uranium is evenly deposited around the world.
To most people safety is the biggest issue towards producing nuclear energy.
However from my point of view I find it to be very safe, there are so many
precautions that prevent a disaster or meltdown that throughout history it has been
prevented well. For instance, each year anywhere from ten thousand to fifty thousand
Americans die from respritory diseases due to the burning of coal, as to the three
hundred deaths in nuclear energy related accidents. If you ask me that is an
outstanding statistic. Another precaution taken is the six feet think walls of the
nuclear reactor dome designed to withstand extreme situations such as , an earthquake
or even a direct hit by a commercial airliner.
After researching my position on nuclear energy I strongly believe that it is
important to make the transition from conventional to nuclear energy as soon as
possible. In the end, it is less harmful to the environment, it is a more affordable
solution in the end for our nation; that is already up to our necks in debt, and it also
results in far less deaths of our American citizens annually. I feel as if conventional
energy should simply just be a part of history now, so that we can look past it, and
like all other mistakes from history not repeat

Southwest as President and Air Southwest changed its name to Southwest Co. The
mission and vision of Air Southwest during this time was to eliminate unnecessary
services and to utilize secondary airports in order to offer the lowest fares in the
industry. Fast forward to 2016 and Herb has stepped down as the chairman for
Southwest, the mission however is still the same, dedication to provide the highest
level of customer while delivering a sense of warmth, friendliness, individual pride,
and Company Spirit. Which embodies the values Southwest has exhibited for years
and that s to live the Southwest Way, to have a warrior spirit, a servant s heart, a fun

In order to ensure a successful merger, Southwest must ensure that the current culture
is maintained regarding both organizations and to merge the benefits and

regarding the expansion of such a sizable merger. Lastly, a merger of this magnitude

The Aesthetic Role of Omnichannel
This paper examines the role of aesthetics in omnichannel user experience by
surveying existing research done in the fields of design, human computer interaction
(HCI), informatics, and cognitive psychology. Aesthetics are one of many important
factors in HCI and research shows that aesthetics can significantly affect perception,
cognition, and usabilityfor computer systems, websites, and user interfaces. First, the
paper identifies the components of aesthetics and their role in user experience and
user interface(UX/UI) design, then examines relevant research in the domain, and
finally looks at the implications of aesthetics in designing for the rapidly expanding
world of experience design, referred to as the cross channel, multi modal, or
omnichannel experience. Ultimately, this paper seeks to demonstrate how visual
aesthetics can enhance or detract from brand perception, perceived or real system
usability, cognitive load, and the overall user experience.

The Role of Aesthetics in OmniChannel User Experience Design
Aesthetics and their role in experience design have been thoroughly researched in the
disciplines of human factors, cognitive psychology, informatics, and design.
Numerous studies examined in this paper will demonstrate how aesthetics can
dramatically affect user response to the perceived credibility and usability of
products and systems (David, Glore, 2001). The importance of
Corrections And The Goals For The Future
On June 7, 2016, Steve Walters interviewed Jon Litscher Secretary of Wisconsin
Department of Correction on his return to corrections and the goals for the future.
Litscher (2016) explained how policies changed due to the ACT 10 law. The law
prohibited the workers to bargain with their employers on their wages and benefits
(Patterson 2015). He verbalized that one of the goals for correctionsis to increase
incentives such as benefits packages and pay increase for their workers. He also
shared that the goals for correction is to reintegrate the inmates back into society. The
stakeholders in this change include the union workers, families, inmates, and
taxpayers.
I did not have much history on the topic of corrections and the goals for the future.
However, I have heard that some correctional officers felt that they were underpaid
and with the shortages. These shortages could contribute to situations that are more
dangerous for the offeiceers. I have a friend who works as a correctional officer and
with these shortages, he has to work mandatory overtime or have to stay if needed.
He has mentioned how frustrating it could be when trying to make and keep plans
with his family. Litscher (2016) verbalized that corrections is going through a
recruitment process and the classes are getting bigger and with the competitive wages
and benefit packages this shortage should come to an end.
Nevertheless, I was unaware that the starting pay for a correctional officer is $16, but

The Representation Of Muslim Women
This research will demonstrate the concept of Quebec majority versus the ones that
are considered other or minority, specifically Muslim women. The methodologies and
surrounding utilized by the print media along with the specific scope of specific
issues created polarization amongst minority and greater part gathers. This research
will summon an Orientalist focal point to show how racializing talks are portrayed in
a monitored subtext over and the news print to support the protection of Quebec
character. The strategy that is utilized is the basic analysis of two newspaperarticles
that are reflected from Gazette and Lap Presse. This examination aims to identify the
importance of the representations of Muslim women in the specific recorded
understanding of Quebecois in their particular dialect and culture. This essay will
reveal that portion of the media procedures within the Quebec context. This will
exhibit that Muslim women are minimized and victimized on the premise of their
race, sexual orientation and social character. Revealing that the news print media
makes harming depictions of Muslim women. The end goal is to counter these
negative depictions. Individuals must be instructed how to think fundamentally about
the media and build up the fitting media education ways so that they can comprehend
what social value are implied.

Example Of D-Day Narrative Report
June 8 of this summer in Normandy France, I had the privilege to pay my respects
at the American Cemetery and memorial. It being two days since the memorial, the
red poppies were still fresh adorned on the graves of men that marched on the
beaches nearby 72 years ago. It was during this once in a lifetime opportunity that
though I always believed myself to have a strong love for my country, for the first
time I came to understand not only what it means to be American but my
responsibility to America.
From afar a sea of white crosses stood before me, and it took my breath away how
many there were. As I walked past each grave no longer was it a an objective
experience but personal. I watched people find their great grandfathers and fall to
their knees and place red poppies before the crosses. It was in doing so, I found the
grave of Private Robert Bobby Johns, the youngest soldier to parachute into
Normandy on D Day, who was just 14 when he ran away from home to join the army,

The Importance Of Political Socialization
My family and I are newly immigrants from Vietnam where people do not talk much
about politics. Coming to the United States, I was overwhelmed by various media
that we can access political information. Even though online news is my main
source to get information, soft news through comedian s show is my favorite
channel to get political news such as The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. It is
interesting and wider spreading that people insert political controversies into
entertaining TV show. Even though I am not a citizen now, I am interested to be
able to vote once possible. I would not align myself with any political party right
now, but I consider myself as a moderate conservative. The last presidential campaign
was debatable. I would vote for Trump.
My parents are not my main source to form my political socialization since they are
the generations where the one party system in Vietnam is strictly enforced. The
younger generations who are in their twenties like me are more exposed to
international political information. Hence, we are getting more and more involved in
political activities in Vietnam as well as in the world. I have learnt from our country
experience that the most important thing for a healthy political system is the people s
trust in the government. Without it, the government remains weak and not effective.
While my political socialization is not strongly formed by my own mother country,
the Asian community here in the United States are not very active in
How To Build My Own Computers
Before 2012, I have purchased multiple computers from different retailers. Each
computer had a life of one to two years before they became obsolete for my needs. In
2012, I was dissatisfied with purchasing a new computer every couple of years, so I
set a goal to seek an alternative approach in acquiring a computer. The alternative
approach I decided to pursue was building my own computer by acquiring the
necessary computer parts. After some research, I found a retailer near me that sells
computer parts and other components. Computer parts that I needed to acquire were a
graphics processing unit, motherboard, ram, central processing unit, internal hard
drive, power supply unit, and computer case.
I had no experience with building a computer,

mother remarried. I personally did not get along with my step father. I was sent to

myself for Yale University. I went to Yale and joined the engineering department of
the Sheffield Scientific School. After about two years, just before completing the

later, I felt the time was ripe to acquire timber. The evergreen state s population was
increasing. The nation demanded lumber for new homes and businesses. I then
moved to Washingtonstate and started the Greenwood Timber Company and the

America s first International Air Meet at Dominguez Hills. I was going to get to
ride in a plane but missed my chance. Just by watching the air show, I was inspired
by planes ever since. In 1915 I took several rides in Terah Maroney s plane. While
very excited by this experience, I took lessons at the Glenn L. Martin Flying School
in Los Angeles. After those lessons I became a pilot and bought one of Martin s
planes. This is when I made the world look at planes in new ways.

Taxation in India
Taxation in India
The Indian Tax Structure is quite elaborate, with clear distinction in authority
between Central, State and local governments. The taxes levied by the Central
government are on income (other than tax on agriculture income which would be
levied by the state government), customs duties, central excise and service tax. The
State government levies Value Added Tax(VAT), sales tax in states where VAT is
not applied, stamp duty, state excise, land revenue and tax on professions. Local
bodies levy tax on property, octroi and for utilities like water supply, drainage etc.
In the last 10 to 15 years, tax system in India has been subjected to significant
reforms. The tax rates have been revised and tax laws have been modified. ... Show

Direct Taxes Before Reform They had a major impact on economic policies, creation
of savings and the trend of investment. There was no proportion in terms of the

The system of direct taxes was very much complex and inefficient because of the
combination of high marginal rates of personal income and wealth taxation and high

Kunzru says that, Over the next few days, I started to notice something odd. Every

turn they will endorse it to other people, but no one thinks anything about it because
it s a friend, no one thinks that a friend is trying to sell them something, only
Personal Mineral Intake
Being aware of your own personal mineral intake is quite an essential part of your
well being. It is often overlooked by both me and others. There are two main types
of minerals: trace minerals and macro minerals. The term macro mineral refers to
the group of minerals that you need to make sure you include relatively large
amounts of in your diet. Macro minerals refer to minerals such as sulfur, calcium,
sodium, and potassium. Trace minerals refer to the group of minerals that your body
needs miniscule amounts of in order to work properly and be healthy. Trace
minerals refer to minerals such as copper, zinc, selenium, and iron. Our mineral
intake comes directly from plant based sources and indirectly from animal based
sources. In addition,

These racialized images and visual codes continue to produce a meaning placed by
the gaze from the White American colonizers created for viewers to take part of

women only heighten stereotypes that depend on historical myths and the viewers
cultural knowledge. The White gaze reproduces racial codes that have transformed
into the classroom and school s climate. I incorporate Jennifer Martin s (2015)
discussion of racial battle fatigue (RBF) of dealing with the daily environment of
microaggressions whether intentional or not and its effects on Black female art

explore my story as a teacher and artist to counter the master narrative of domination.
I share Thorton Dill and Zambrana s (2017) intersectional scholarship, examining the
exclusion and constraints exhibited in the lives and experiences of Black women. I
will explore the gap in feminist art education in the secondary education environment
that excludes the Black female artists. I realize the importance of how graphic
narratives can illustrate stories visually that may not communicate clearly through
words. The significance of the study is to provide a critical feminist lens to
interrogate the visual narrative of race, class, and gender disparities of Black female

Social Tension Between Babo And Cereno
When Captain Amasa Delano visits the San Dominick, he notices the tension
between Babo and Don Benito Cereno while Babo is shaving Benito Cereno s
beard, not unaffected by the close right of the gleaming steel, Don Benito nervously
shuddered (Melville 74). The tension between Babo and Cereno is ironic because
Captain Delano does not understand what is actually going on between the two
characters. As the social tension between Babo and Cereno rises, the aesthetic
tension created by Melville between Delano and the ship rises as well. Melville as a
writer creates tension, and that tension is rooted in irony. The close reading of the
shaving scene shows how Melville uses irony to contribute to the social tension

harm to himself to enforce the illusion Delano is under. When Babo proclaims to

not the first time that Cereno has been hurt by Babo, and the scene that Delano is

between Babo and Cereno, he builds tension between Delano and the

The Necklace is a short story by French writer Guy De Maupassant and is set
during the 19th century in Paris. Throughout the story, Maupassant addresses many
numerous themes such as greed, pride, honesty and femininity. This allows the
reader to have an insight of how women were treated during the 19th century of
Paris and how they affected the society. In the story, Madame Loisel is the
daughter of a very minor civil servant, she went along a proposal made by a junior
clerk in the Ministry of Education. Then, leads to Madame Loisel s downfall as she
switches from the middle class towards the working class in the society. ... Show

What I Listen For The Music
Music, one element of life although altered, molded, and crafted has continued to
strike the curiosity in our imagination from century to century. Music is an
experience for everyone from the most musically devoted students and teachers to the
concert audience and even the individuals simply listening to the radio throughout
their daily activities. Musicis one aspect that appeals to the variety of individuals in
the world despite their differences in belief, personality and culture. Music is one
of the only elements of life that allows us as individuals to enjoy something
cohesively. The mystifying element that we call music almost seems impossible to
define but Aaron Copland, one of the many renowned composers and conductors
of the 20th century, attempts to condense the idea of how we as listeners analyze
and evaluate music in his book, What to Listen for in Music. This book written
upon a, compilation of lectures he had given at Manhattan s New School for Social
Research defines the aspects of how we listen and evaluate music, what aspects of
music we should analyze, how both as a combination create the aesthetic of music
we enjoy as listeners (Copland vii). Copland s introduction within the book includes
his classification of three different perspectives that we as an audience tend to listen
from, these classifications allow us to understand which perspective suits all of us
individually. The perspectives of this classification are listed as sensuous , expressive ,
Saudi Arabia Essays
In the heart of the Middle East is a country known by many Westerners for its oil
production and, often, extremist beliefs of groups within the country. The country is
Saudi Arabia, and though it is thought of by many as a rather backward country,
Saudi Arabia has a rich history and culture, and it is a country that revolves around
Islam and the worship of Allahas the one true God.
For about fifteen hundred years, Saudi Arabia s history has centered on one major
theme: Islam. Muhammad, the founder of Islam, was born around 570 A.D. in the
city of Mecca. Early in the 7th century A.D., according to Islamic belief, Muhammad,
while meditating in a cave on Mount Hira, was visited by the angel Gabriel. Gabriel

Then, in the mid 1700s, Saudi ruler Muhammad ibn Saud, from the Saud dynasty,
forged an alliance with a religious reformer named Muhammad ibn Abd al Wahhab.
Ibn Abd al Wahhab was discontent with the growing disregard for Islamic
teachings in Arabia. He taught that the people should return to strict observance
and practice of Islamic laws. Adherents to this belief, called Wahhabis, were
backed by the armies of the Saud dynasty, and together, these forces began a
movement. Areas that converted to Wahhabi beliefs were taken over by the Saud
family, thus increasing the size of the Saudi State. However, by 1891, most Saudi
control of Arabia was taken by tribal chiefs and by the Ottoman Empire. Then, in
1902, a young Saudi leader named Abd al Aziz ibn Saud began to reclaim land that
his ancestors had lost. He also sought diligently to revive the Wahhabi movement,
which heavily emphasized the Islamic beliefs and strict adherence to them. In 1932,
Ibn Saud unified the regions he conquered into one state an Islamic state that he
dubbed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Throughout the next fifty years, under the reign of Ibn Saud and his descendents,
Saudi Arabia grew wealthier as a nation, while striving to keep its Islamic values at
the same time. In 1982, King Fahd came to the throne. He sought to maintain Saudi
Arabia traditional Islamic values, while he also strived to create more globally

Analysis Of Max Beckmann s The Beginning
Contextual Analysis
Max Beckmann The Beginning (Fig.1) is an oil painting on canvas that measures
69x125 1/2 in. First titled Childhood, the paintings meaning was based on
Beckmann s dreams and his past. He combined these into a dreamlike realm with
an addition of imagination to create a relatable fairytale sequence. Using oil, brush
and bright colors, he created three panels separated by bold white space. The left
and right panel are the same size, unlike the middle which is much larger and
contains more detail and various meanings. The three panels contained sex,
innocence, and adolescence. Beckmann s primary focus appears to be the various
changes of a boy evolving into a man through a bizarre reality with imagery from his
dreams.
During post war his art begins to take on humorous details, which can be seen in
the Puss in Boots character, which he detailed in his diary on April 1946. I just had
an absurd and unpleasant dream in which somehow a Puss in Boots played a role
that made me mighty ridiculous . He was recognized as an Expressionist artist,
which can be seen in his use of brushstrokes and bold color choices. The Beginning
was one of his most autobiographical paintings out the 10 allegorical triptych
paintings he created during 1932 1950.
Max Beckmann painted The Beginning in Saint Louis, dated from October 1946 to
May 16, 1949. He took his time on each panel, October 1946 was the first draft of the
piece. In 1947, he began teaching again
The Great Depression In Ron Howard s Film Cinderella
Man
The economic turmoil of the Great Depression is an unparalleled crisis in the
history of the modern United States. While recessions of the 1980s and 2000s were
each debilitating in their own regard, they pale in comparison to the monstrosity of
the 1930s. It is during this period of strife when director Ron Howard sets his 2005
movie Cinderella Man. In the film, James J. Braddock is a former boxing star on
the rise amidst the opulence of the Roaring Twenties and serves as a paragon of the
American Dream. However, the cruel reality of 1929 took all of this away from
Braddock, his wife, and his three children, leaving them to struggle in order to make
ends. Indeed, the Depression did not discriminate when it struck, and James and his
wife Mae... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The director s mixture of constant adversity with the sanguine nature of the
Braddocks reveals the values of perseverance and family present during the
Depression. Utilizing settings in squalor, adding details tangential to the main plot,
such as sending children away, and portraying personal relationships in the context
of economic despair creates a vivid representation of not only the business
downturn, but also the social strain manifested from the situation. From an acting
standpoint, Russell Crowe shines with his stellar performance of James J.
Braddock. Crowe s array of emotion evokes sympathy from the audience while
concomitantly demonstrating the pride felt by many during this period. By being
an independent breadwinner full of rectitude, Crowe asserted the feelings of many
men during these years regarding the need for a stolid, constant point of stability.
RenГ©e Zellweger, for her part as Mae, is able to extract the emotive side of
James, rounding out the picture of a cohesive family unit. Zellweger s use of grit
fulfills the impactful role of women at a time when they were often overlooked in
stature. Together, Crowe and Zellweger knit together a complete picture of daily life
during the Great Depression and, in doing so, provide an exceptional
Animated Movie Wreck It Ralph
The animated film, Wreck it Ralph, directed by Rich Moore, follows the adventures
of a bad guy by the name of Ralph as he looks to distinguish himself as more than a
bad guy in the sense of the word. The move takes place inside of a video game called
Wreck it Ralph , located in a larger arcade store filled with customers. Wreck it Ralph
is a gamewhere Ralph is designed as a muscular freak with only one purpose in his
life, to destroy and damage a high rise apartment in the game, that is until Fix it
Felix comes in and saves the day. In the eyes of the viewer, Ralph is the villain
who looks to destroy the building, and the player takes control of Felix in order to
fix Ralph s wrong doings. What becomes apparent to the viewer rather quickly is
that Ralph is no stereotypical bad guy , and he wishes to be known for more than
the guy who just destroys the building, and who is cast off as a menace to those
inside the game. In a very Toy Story like design, the characters inside the video
games become alive when the arcade store shuts down for the day, and customers
leave. Its at this point characters gather together for drinks, nights out or in Ralphs
case, a support group for bad guys trying to deal with the stresses and difficulties of
being bad. Looking to prove himself, Ralph eventually leaves his game as he looks
to find a better identity for himself as opposed to his bad guy label, as chaos ensues.
The movie incorporates video games into its design through multiple

one must first understand that leadership and management are not interchangeable.
From my experience as a Marine people find themselves thinking that these two are
interchangeable. I would more like think of them as shaking hands . Managementis
defined by a position whereas leaderships define by an individual s ability to have
others follow. The management study guide which was a part of our week 1
discussion distinguished between the two by saying a person becomes a manager
by virtue of position ; a person becomes a leader by basis of his personal qualities

Compare And Contrast The Abolition Movement And The...
During the Age of Reformation there were many different important movements. Two
of these are the Abolition and the Temperance movements. These movements were
similar and different in many ways. Both of these movements were very important to
the growth and development of America. One of the most prominent movements in
the United States during the Age of Reformation was the Abolition movement. The
Abolition movement was an anti slavery movement that moved mostly through the
northern states. Many people were against the Abolition movement such as the
Middle Class. The Middle Class feared that Abolitionism would endanger their
businesses and neighborhoods. Because of the great influence in Anti Abolitionism
many Abolitionists faced great physical danger. Soon, mobs started to rise up against
Abolitionism because they were pro slavery. Abolitionists were being threatened and

The Temperance movement was against alcohol and drunkenness of all types. The
extremity of the anti alcohol depended on the person who was part of the
Temperance movement. Some people felt that only hard liquor should be removed
while others felt that all alcohol should be prohibited. One form of the Temperance
movement was called Teetotalism which was the personal abstinence of alcohol in
a person s life. It was a religious and political movement usually associated with
female suffrage. During the Victorian period, people were advocating the legal
prohibition of alcohol of all forms. This was considered radical, and people formed
the Band of Hope which was an organization against all types of alcohol. Many
different anti alcohol societies were formed that were friendly but passionate about
what they believed. The Temperance movement started to die down after the motion
to prohibit alcohol failed and things went back to the way they were. The Temperance
movement had an influence on the beliefs of many
Looking For Trans Wonderland By Noo Saro Wiwa
Have you ever desired to return back to your childhood neighborhood? Might you
wonder how much it s changed since you were last there? If your answer is
somewhere in the state of Kansas, it could possibly be argued. Might you perhaps
change your mind if the place you grew up in was the country of Nigeria? Though it
might sound exotic; a rowdy airport, littered streets, malfunctioning transportation
and a possibility of access to water are just some of the matters you might come to

I have chosen to review the book Looking for Trans wonderland by Author Noo Saro

Nigeria, yet shortly thereafter found herself growing up midst the privileged in the
upscale of England. Wiwa delights readers on a riveting journey of her hometown of

attempting her best to distance herself of that a parallel universe from her current

activist Ken Saro Wiwa, that Noo did her best to brush off the ravages of her
homeland to return to it much later. While additionally paying homage to her

Tv Shows Influence On American Culture
Ever since the modern age of human history began, mediums of communication have
had a vital impact in society and culture. The newspaper was the first medium that
changed the ways of communication and information. In the 1600s, the newspaper
was an important tool to communicate events and political ideas in Europe. Two
centuries later, the radio became an innovative outlet. Radio stations would broadcast
news, information, and entertainment in the forms of music, sports and variety
shows. However, there is an outlet that revolutionized more than just communication,
information and entertainment.
Television revolutionized the entire path of human society. Since the first TV sets
were made in the late 1800s, television viewers in America have increased. As the
years went by, TV was not only a magic box , as many people used to call it.

To understand the influence TV shows have on American individuals and families,
it is important to first know the numbers and statistics of TV viewers since the post

comparison with other complementary and alternative medicine modalities, is
presently well regulated in the United States. After a surge in popularity in the 1970

as hospitals, cancer centers, even gaining some insurance coverage (Brett, Brimhall,
Healey, Pfeifer, Prenguber, 2013). According to the National Certification

The NCCAOM provides a clear code of ethics, disciplinary policies and procedures,
and even outlines filing a complaint against negligent acupuncturists (NCCAOM,
2017). This type of oversight certainly substantiates the legitimacy of acupuncture in
Western medicine, as well as increasing the proficiency of each practitioner.
Unfortunately, malpractice will always be an issue in medicine, regardless of the
quality of education and regulation. There are two common forms of malpractice in
acupuncture today, the first being practicing without necessary experience and/or a
license (in a state that requires it). The second form of malpractice is not adhering to
Clean Needle Technique. According to Xu et al. (2013) a study completed ten years
prior indicated that the most frequent adverse event associated with acupuncture was
hepatitis infection, caused by the reuse of needles. However, their most recent
comparative study suggests that presently the adverse event experienced today is
bacterial infection. The education and adherence to Clean Needle Technique (which
includes never reusing needles), has led to a drastic increase of health and safety in
acupuncture. An unlicensed and/or unexperienced practitioner may not be aware of
the danger posed by reusing needles, and thus put their patients at undue risk for
infection and even
Math Anxiety and Efficacy Scores
Students often struggle with the learning of math concepts; a love hate relationship
has existed for decades between math and students as they know they need to
understand and have a sound foundation of math skills, yet, they toil to reach a
proficiency level and fall short of their goal. This lack of confidence and anxiety in
learning math concepts has created a lack of self efficacyamong math learners, which
fosters a reduction in a desire to learn and use math skills. As education changes at an
increasingly rapid speed not seen before, educators must bring to their students
cutting edge best practices and technology to reach learning goals and build interest
in needed math areas.
Deficits in math proficiency are a matter of national concern (Beal, Walles, Arroyo,
Woolf, 2007). Students are struggling to pass statewide subject area tests, reach
suitable ACT scores, and/or enter college without enrolling in remediation classes in
math. According to the American Institutes for Research, American students score
well below comparable students in other countries (Phillips, 2009). Deficiencies in
math scores tend to slip as students progress from one grade to the next. This chain
of events creates students who select non based math studies as they enter high
school and college which can create real voids in our work force.
Math anxiety hinders students mathematics learning, thinking positive about math,
and feeling calm. This fear causes low self esteem,

Metaphors in the King James Bible The King James Bible is a translation of the
Bible. Older translations were more difficult to comprehend. As a result, King James
demanded that a new translation be made to better accommodate the readers. In this

Effect Of Myopia On Measuring Peripapillary Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer Thickness
ABSTRACT
Settings: Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University, Egypt.
Purpose: To assess the influence of axial length (AL) and refractive status of the eye
on retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness in myopic eyes measured by spectral
domain optical coherence tomography (OCT).
Methods: This study included 60 eyes of 60 healthy myopic individuals. Patients
with a history of glaucoma or any other concurrent ocular disease were excluded.
The peripapillary RNFL thickness was measured using a Spectralis OCT
(Heidelberg Engineering, Heidelberg, Germany). An average of 3 good quality scans
was used to get the thickness of the RNFL.
Results: The uncorrected inferior RNFL thickness showed the highest correlation
with AL (r = 0.81, r2 = 0.66, p 21 mm Hg in either eye; those with a history of ocular

those whose RNFL or optic discs indicated an RNFL defect or a disc anomaly by
fundus examination. The pupils of the eyes of the included subjects were
pharmacologically dilated. The eyes were then scanned by the same operator with
the Spectralis OCT system (Heidelberg Engineering, Heidelberg, Germany). The

Penicillin Lab Report
Introduction
The dawn of the antibiotic era began in 1920 s with the discovery of Penicillin by
Andrew Fleming. Since that time countless millions of people have survived ailments
that by modern medical practice would be considered trivial. Point in fact 90% of all
children suffering from meningitis died before the implementation of antibiotics. Of
the children who survived, many suffered from debilitating conditions such as
deafness or even mental retardation. Infections such as strep throat were often fatal
and even ear infections could spread to the brain with terrible consequences.
This golden age of antibiotics would however be accompanied by a dark counterpart.

(Lee, 2013) Since that time only two truly novel classes (oxazolidinones in 2000 and
cyclic lipopeptides in 2003) of antibiotics have been introduced. With that being said
there are still many promising new treatments being studied in the clinic today that
could potential lead to significant advances in the treatment of infectious diseases.
One such class uses enzymes to degrade the extracellular polymeric substance of
biofilms making the bacteria more vulnerable to antibiotics. Another interesting
development is the use of nanomaterials for the delivery of antibiotics. This treatment
has the potential to increase efficacy while minimizing the adverse effects associated
with some antibiotics. This is accomplished by controllable and uniform distribution
to the target tissue, improved solubility, sustained release, improved patient
compliance, minimized side effects, and enhanced cellular internalization. (Gopinath,
2013) Additional vaccines such as Prevnar 13В®, which protects against
Pneumococcal pneumonia and other invasive diseases such as ear infections in
patients 6 weeks through the age of 17 and over the age of 50, can be quite helpful in
the treatment of infectious diseases. The vaccine elicits an immune response that
protects the patient from infection of the 13 separate strains of Streptococcus
The American Revolutionary War And The Declaration Of

At the start of the nineteenth century, the majority of the North American continent
remained unexplored. In the wake of the American Revolutionary War and the
declaration of independence from Great Britain on July 4th, 1776, the newly
liberated colonists sought to expand their land. The thirteen original British colonies
were rooted in the eastern region of the territory, in relatively close proximity. While
the former British citizens were excited to begin their new lives, overcrowding in the
new states was a problem that required an immediate solution. Each colony was
originally created with enough space to house its initial settlers according to its
charter; however, births and increased migration to the New World began to cause
congestion. The United Statesgovernment proposed one solution: westward
expansion of North America.
With the establishment of individual states, Americans from their very earliest
beginnings believed that God had bestowed upon them a mission to spread their
supreme civilization, in particularly, freedom, whether in religion, commerce, or race
(Dobson 2013: 43). Under this influence of Christianity and entitlement, Anglo Saxon
Americans believed that they had a given birth right to access any land on the
continent of North America. During this time period, Thomas Jefferson was elected
the third President of the United States in 1801. As a founding father and principal

Suicide In Romeo And Juliet
Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet is one play in a series of stories about two young
lovers with feuding families. The first known story was in the fifth century A.D.,
not printed until 1726, called Ephesiaca by Xenophon of Ephesus. The wife is
separated from her husband and to avoid marrying another man, she takes a
sleeping potion. She wakes up in a tomb and is carried off for other adventures.
Based on this story is Masuccio s Il Novellino of 1476. It is an Italian story about
Mariotto and Giannozza. A Friar secretly marries them, and then Mariotto kills an
important citizen and is exiled to Alexandria. Giannozza takes a sleeping potion to
avoid marrying a man of her fathers choosing and after being buried, sneaks away to
Alexandria. Pirates... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is beheaded and Giannozza comes back and dies in a convent. The sequences
of events in this story are very similar to Romeo and Juliet. However, there is no
mention of feuding families and the lovers do not commit suicide. In 1530 Luigi
da Porto published Historia novellamente ritrovata di due Nobili Amanti based on
Masuccio s story but set in Verona with feuding families, the Montecchi and the
Cappelletti. Romeo meets Giulietta at a Carnival ball and forgets about an
unrequited love he has for another girl. They see each other at church and Romeo
visits her chamber window. Romeo mistakes Giulietta s sleeping for her death and
kills himself. When Giulietta wakes she drew in her breath and held it long, and
then, uttering a great cry, fell dead on the corpse of Romeo. It lacks characters
comparable to the Nurse and Benvolio but Mercutio has an undeveloped counterpart
in this narrative, named Marcuccio. Inspired by Porto, Matteo Bandello wrote
Novelle in 1554. In this version, Julietta wants to run off with the banished Romeo
but he forbids it. Romeo writes a letter to his father explaining everything when he
learns the false news that Julietta is dead. Julietta and Romeo share a scene in the
tomb
The Best Day Of My Life
Whoosh! I can still see the moment he hit the water. The moment sometimes plays
in my head like it happened in real life slow motion. I knew I would never forget it.
You should know a few things about me before you read about the best day of my
life. Before today I thought that if I didn t start stressing about my future, I would
never end up getting anywhere. This is the day everything changed. AAAHHHH!!
That morning started like any other, my small obnoxious mutt of a dog licking my
face like it was its job. I saw a bright and youthful sun, like the old one retired and
this one took its place, warm and new. I wasn t mad this time, I laughed and played
with her a few minutes before running upstairs for breakfast. On my way up the
stairs I could hear the small birds chirping songs of joy, right before I heard my
mom yell, Oh no, something wicked this way comes! I swear she loves me, but I
quietly shot back with a, good morning to you too. I shot pancakes into my throat, I
felt like I hadn t eaten in ages, the hunger rose inside of me like a demon. After I ate,
I felt like I had a ton of cement in my stomach, I swore to my mom I would never eat
again, but of course I did. That morning my mom and I sat at the table talking about
our days so far. My mom and I talked about what I would do that day, I really don t
know, I lied as we talked. I knew that today would be a good dayI just didn t know
how good it really would be. Once I got picked up to go to
Beethoven Orchestra No. 5 Summary
Orchestra No. 5 (Beethoven) The Troupe No. 5 in C minor of Ludwig van
Beethoven, Operation. 67, was created between 1804 1808. It is a champion
among other known structures in set up music, and a champion among the most
consistently played symphonies.[1] First performed in Vienna s Scene a der
Wien in 1808, the work achieved its enormous reputation soon a brief timeframe
later. E. T. A. Hoffmann portrayed the ensemble as a champion among the most
basic works of the time . The gathering contains four advancements. The essential
advancement is Allegro con brio; the second improvement is Tolerably moderate
and even con moto; the third advancement is a Scherzo Allegro; the fourth
improvement is Allegro. Maple Leaf Cloth (Scott Joplin) The Maple Leaf Material
(copyright enrolled on September 18, 1899)[1] is an early jazz melodic piece for
piano framed by Scott Joplin. It was one of Joplin s underlying works, and
transformed into the model for jazz manifestations by following arrangers. It is a
champion among the most prominent of all jazz pieces.[2] likewise Joplin was
known as the Leader of Jazz . The piece gave Joplin a predictable if unspectacular
pay for whatever is left of his life. Zarathustra (Strauss) Moreover sprach
Zarathustra, Operation. 30 (In this way Spoke Zarathustra or Thusly Spake

Importance of Sports
Previous studies have found that higher physical activity levels are associated with
greater academic achievement among students. However, it remains unclear whether
associations are due to the physical activity itself or sports team participation, which
may involve requirements for maintaining certain grades, for example. The purpose
of this study is to examine the associations between sports team participation,
physical activity, and academic outcomes in middle and high schoolstudents.
Methods: Data were drawn from Project EAT (Eating Among Teens), a survey of
middle and high school students (n = 4746). Students self reported their weekly hours
of physical activity, sports team participation, and academic letter grades. Two

Another trend is the incorporation of Health and Nutrition to the physical education
curriculum. The Child Nutrition and WIC Re authorization Act of 2004 required that
all school districts with a federally funded school meal program develop wellness
policies that address nutrition and physical activity.[2] While teaching students sports
and movement skills, P.E. teachers are now incorporating short health and nutrition
lessons into the curriculum. This is more prevalent at the elementary school level,
where students do not have a specific Health class. Recently most elementary schools
have specific health classes for students as well as physical education class. With the
recent outbreaks of diseases such as swine flu, school districts are making it
mandatory for students to learn about practicing good hygiene along with other
health topics.
Today many states require Physical Education teachers to be certified to teach Health
also. Many colleges and Universities offer both Physical Education and Health as one
certification. This push towards Health education, is beginning in the intermediate
level, including lessons on bullying, self esteem and stress and anger management.
In the United States, the physical education curriculum is designed to allow school
pupils a full range of modern opportunities, dozens of sports and hundreds of
carefully reviewed drills and exercises, including exposure to the education with the
use of pedometer, GPS, and heart

It requires a delicate balance of sensitivity, critical analysis, and a deep understanding of the complexities surrounding race, ethnicity, and their intersections with various social, cultural, and historical contexts. Firstly, delving into such a topic demands a comprehensive exploration of the historical roots and contemporary manifestations of race-based ideologies and discrimination. This necessitates extensive research into scholarly literature, historical documents, sociological studies, and diverse perspectives to construct a nuanced understanding of the subject matter. Secondly, navigating the complexities of race requires a high level of cultural competence and awareness of the diverse lived experiences of individuals from different racial and ethnic backgrounds. It involves engaging with uncomfortable truths, acknowledging privilege, and confronting systemic injustices while maintaining a respectful and empathetic tone throughout the discourse. Furthermore, crafting an essay on race requires the ability to critically analyze and deconstruct prevailing narratives and stereotypes surrounding race, challenging dominant discourses, and amplifying marginalized voices and perspectives. This entails exercising caution to avoid perpetuating harmful stereotypes or inadvertently reinforcing existing power dynamics. Moreover, addressing the topic of race necessitates a commitment to reflexivity and self- examination, recognizing one's own biases, privileges, and positionality within the broader discourse on race. It requires humility, openness to constructive criticism, and a willingness to engage in uncomfortable conversations that may challenge preconceived notions and ideologies. • 2. Walking Team Lab Walking Team Lab Questions 1.Describe the shape of a graph of an object moving with uniform motion. (1) The shape of a graph of an object moving with uniform motion is linear, meaning with a straight line and a constant slope. Since, uniform motion means that the speed is constant and the object is moving in the same direction, the graph will have linear data and its constant slope can be represented with a line of best fit. In other words, the speed and the direction of the object remain the same for all of the motion that the object does, which determines the shape of a graph with an object moving uniformly. The results of uniform motion are represented by a line of best fit on this graph as the motion is in a straight line and the line ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In our lab, as time passed by the walker walked at a constant speed and in the same direction (uniformly) for 30m. The uniform motion in this lab gave us the outcome of a linear shape on graph with a line of best fit which is increasing from left to right as its moving away from the origin and a constant slope that remains consistent in direction. 2.How is the speed of an object related to the shape of the graph? (1) The speed of an object is related to the shape of a graph because depending on whether the speed varies during the motion or remains constant, the graph s shape will be affected. If the speed of the graph remains the same (uniform) the shape of the graph will be linear. If the speed of the object varies (non uniform), the graph will have variations in the data for the position which depends on the slowing down and speeding up of the object, leaving us with the outcome of a curve of best fit or a parabola shape. The graph will be in the form of a non linear shape. The speed of an object s motion on the graph represents the slope of the graph. A linear graph with straight

Nuclear Energy vs. Conventional Petroleum Energy Through out the history of the United states the main source of energy has been conventional Oil, Coal, and gas energy, or better known as Conventional petroleum energy. However as the demand for electricity sky rockets the pollution produced from the traditional fossil fuel burning plants is reaching dangerous levels. Gas, coal and oil burning power plants are as of now responsible for half of America s air pollution (tripod/online). Not to mention fossil fuels are the greatest contributors to global warming in today s society. Burning coal produces massive amounts of carbon dioxide which slowly eats away the protection layer of our Ozone. Coal also contains ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another plus to nuclear energy is, international relations will have little effect on the supply of fuel to the reactors because uranium is evenly deposited around the world. To most people safety is the biggest issue towards producing nuclear energy. However from my point of view I find it to be very safe, there are so many precautions that prevent a disaster or meltdown that throughout history it has been prevented well. For instance, each year anywhere from ten thousand to fifty thousand Americans die from respritory diseases due to the burning of coal, as to the three hundred deaths in nuclear energy related accidents. If you ask me that is an outstanding statistic. Another precaution taken is the six feet think walls of the nuclear reactor dome designed to withstand extreme situations such as , an earthquake or even a direct hit by a commercial airliner. After researching my position on nuclear energy I strongly believe that it is important to make the transition from conventional to nuclear energy as soon as possible. In the end, it is less harmful to the environment, it is a more affordable solution in the end for our nation; that is already up to our necks in debt, and it also results in far less deaths of our American citizens annually. I feel as if conventional energy should simply just be a part of history now, so that we can look past it, and like all other mistakes from history not repeat

Corrections And The Goals For The Future On June 7, 2016, Steve Walters interviewed Jon Litscher Secretary of Wisconsin Department of Correction on his return to corrections and the goals for the future. Litscher (2016) explained how policies changed due to the ACT 10 law. The law prohibited the workers to bargain with their employers on their wages and benefits (Patterson 2015). He verbalized that one of the goals for correctionsis to increase incentives such as benefits packages and pay increase for their workers. He also shared that the goals for correction is to reintegrate the inmates back into society. The stakeholders in this change include the union workers, families, inmates, and taxpayers. I did not have much history on the topic of corrections and the goals for the future. However, I have heard that some correctional officers felt that they were underpaid and with the shortages. These shortages could contribute to situations that are more dangerous for the offeiceers. I have a friend who works as a correctional officer and with these shortages, he has to work mandatory overtime or have to stay if needed. He has mentioned how frustrating it could be when trying to make and keep plans with his family. Litscher (2016) verbalized that corrections is going through a recruitment process and the classes are getting bigger and with the competitive wages and benefit packages this shortage should come to an end. Nevertheless, I was unaware that the starting pay for a correctional officer is $16, but even with

  • 10. Example Of D-Day Narrative Report June 8 of this summer in Normandy France, I had the privilege to pay my respects at the American Cemetery and memorial. It being two days since the memorial, the red poppies were still fresh adorned on the graves of men that marched on the beaches nearby 72 years ago. It was during this once in a lifetime opportunity that though I always believed myself to have a strong love for my country, for the first time I came to understand not only what it means to be American but my responsibility to America. From afar a sea of white crosses stood before me, and it took my breath away how many there were. As I walked past each grave no longer was it a an objective experience but personal. I watched people find their great grandfathers and fall to their knees and place red poppies before the crosses. It was in doing so, I found the grave of Private Robert Bobby Johns, the youngest soldier to parachute into Normandy on D Day, who was just 14 when he ran away from home to join the army, two years ... • 11. The Importance Of Political Socialization My family and I are newly immigrants from Vietnam where people do not talk much about politics. Coming to the United States, I was overwhelmed by various media that we can access political information. Even though online news is my main source to get information, soft news through comedian s show is my favorite channel to get political news such as The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. It is interesting and wider spreading that people insert political controversies into entertaining TV show. Even though I am not a citizen now, I am interested to be able to vote once possible. I would not align myself with any political party right now, but I consider myself as a moderate conservative. The last presidential campaign was debatable. I would vote for Trump. My parents are not my main source to form my political socialization since they are the generations where the one party system in Vietnam is strictly enforced. The younger generations who are in their twenties like me are more exposed to international political information. Hence, we are getting more and more involved in political activities in Vietnam as well as in the world. I have learnt from our country experience that the most important thing for a healthy political system is the people s trust in the government. Without it, the government remains weak and not effective. While my political socialization is not strongly formed by my own mother country, the Asian community here in the United States are not very active in

Music is an experience for everyone from the most musically devoted students and teachers to the concert audience and even the individuals simply listening to the radio throughout their daily activities. Musicis one aspect that appeals to the variety of individuals in the world despite their differences in belief, personality and culture. Music is one of the only elements of life that allows us as individuals to enjoy something cohesively. The mystifying element that we call music almost seems impossible to define but Aaron Copland, one of the many renowned composers and conductors of the 20th century, attempts to condense the idea of how we as listeners analyze and evaluate music in his book, What to Listen for in Music. This book written upon a, compilation of lectures he had given at Manhattan s New School for Social Research defines the aspects of how we listen and evaluate music, what aspects of music we should analyze, how both as a combination create the aesthetic of music we enjoy as listeners (Copland vii). Copland s introduction within the book includes his classification of three different perspectives that we as an audience tend to listen from, these classifications allow us to understand which perspective suits all of us individually. The perspectives of this classification are listed as sensuous , expressive ,

The country is Saudi Arabia, and though it is thought of by many as a rather backward country, Saudi Arabia has a rich history and culture, and it is a country that revolves around Islam and the worship of Allahas the one true God. For about fifteen hundred years, Saudi Arabia s history has centered on one major theme: Islam. Muhammad, the founder of Islam, was born around 570 A.D. in the city of Mecca. Adherents to this belief, called Wahhabis, were backed by the armies of the Saud dynasty, and together, these forces began a movement. • 28. Analysis Of Max Beckmann s The Beginning Contextual Analysis Max Beckmann The Beginning (Fig.1) is an oil painting on canvas that measures 69x125 1/2 in. First titled Childhood, the paintings meaning was based on Beckmann s dreams and his past. He combined these into a dreamlike realm with an addition of imagination to create a relatable fairytale sequence. Using oil, brush and bright colors, he created three panels separated by bold white space. The left and right panel are the same size, unlike the middle which is much larger and contains more detail and various meanings. The three panels contained sex, innocence, and adolescence. Beckmann s primary focus appears to be the various changes of a boy evolving into a man through a bizarre reality with imagery from his dreams. During post war his art begins to take on humorous details, which can be seen in the Puss in Boots character, which he detailed in his diary on April 1946. I just had an absurd and unpleasant dream in which somehow a Puss in Boots played a role that made me mighty ridiculous . He was recognized as an Expressionist artist, which can be seen in his use of brushstrokes and bold color choices. The Beginning was one of his most autobiographical paintings out the 10 allegorical triptych paintings he created during 1932 1950. Max Beckmann painted The Beginning in Saint Louis, dated from October 1946 to May 16, 1949. He took his time on each panel, October 1946 was the first draft of the piece. In 1947, he began teaching again

From an acting standpoint, Russell Crowe shines with his stellar performance of James J. Braddock. Crowe s array of emotion evokes sympathy from the audience while concomitantly demonstrating the pride felt by many during this period. The move takes place inside of a video game called Wreck it Ralph , located in a larger arcade store filled with customers. Wreck it Ralph is a gamewhere Ralph is designed as a muscular freak with only one purpose in his life, to destroy and damage a high rise apartment in the game, that is until Fix it Felix comes in and saves the day. In the eyes of the viewer, Ralph is the villain who looks to destroy the building, and the player takes control of Felix in order to fix Ralph s wrong doings. What becomes apparent to the viewer rather quickly is that Ralph is no stereotypical bad guy , and he wishes to be known for more than the guy who just destroys the building, and who is cast off as a menace to those inside the game. In a very Toy Story like design, the characters inside the video games become alive when the arcade store shuts down for the day, and customers leave. This lack of confidence and anxiety in learning math concepts has created a lack of self efficacyamong math learners, which fosters a reduction in a desire to learn and use math skills. As education changes at an increasingly rapid speed not seen before, educators must bring to their students cutting edge best practices and technology to reach learning goals and build interest in needed math areas. Deficits in math proficiency are a matter of national concern (Beal, Walles, Arroyo, Woolf, 2007). Students are struggling to pass statewide subject area tests, reach suitable ACT scores, and/or enter college without enrolling in remediation classes in math. In the wake of the American Revolutionary War and the declaration of independence from Great Britain on July 4th, 1776, the newly liberated colonists sought to expand their land. The thirteen original British colonies were rooted in the eastern region of the territory, in relatively close proximity. While the former British citizens were excited to begin their new lives, overcrowding in the new states was a problem that required an immediate solution. Each colony was originally created with enough space to house its initial settlers according to its charter; however, births and increased migration to the New World began to cause congestion. Once I got picked up to go to
