Crafting an essay on the subject of "Essay Format Examples" may initially seem straightforward,
but delving into the intricacies of this topic reveals its complexity. The challenge lies not only in
presenting clear and concise examples but also in providing insightful analysis and commentary
on the various formats.
One hurdle is the vast array of essay formats available, each with its own set of rules and
conventions. Navigating through these diverse structures, such as argumentative, expository, or
narrative essays, requires a comprehensive understanding of their unique features. The writer
must not only grasp the basics but also be adept at discerning when and how to apply each

Harriet Tubman Perseverance
Harriet Tubman was a great person who leads slaves to freedom! She was a
conductor. For example, she saved people that were slaves (over 200 people). She
was also a brave person and a strong one too because she had gone around to many
people to save them from being a slave. I bet you can t do that, can you. Harriet
was a slave at first, but she changed her life around. She escaped to be an
abolitionist in 1849. She had been treated very badly and that is the reason why
Harriet had wanted to leave so badly. She became a conductor. She had memorized
the routes so in case there was something wrong, she would know a different way to
save the people. She had always gone out of her way to save people. Whenever she
had saved people she would sometimes
Sunspots Research Paper
Sunspots are generated by strong and dense magnetic fields, and these magnetic
fields are caused by flowing plasma that gets tangled and moves through the
photosphere. [1] However, it is not actually sunspot activity that effects the Earth s
power grid and satellite communications, [2] but rather the solar flares and coronal
mass ejections (CMEs) that can be caused by sunspots that cause problems. [3]
Solar flares are eruptions of energy from the sun s surface. Quickly reaching
temperatures of 10 to 20 million Kelvin, these flares can rise thousands of
kilometres above the chromosphere, and can release energies of up to 6 x 1025
joules (equivalent to the energy of a few million volcanic eruptions on the earth ) [4].
Solar flares have three classifications: X, M, and C class. X class solar flares are the
largest of the three, and also have the largest impact on Earth, causing long lasting
radiation storms in the upper atmosphere, and causing radio blackouts. M class
solar flares are less powerful than X class, however they can still cause the
occasional radiation storm, and brief radio blackouts in the polar regions. C class are
the smallest of them, and barely have any impact on Earth. [5]
Whilst solar flares release high amounts of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Solar flares give off large amounts of energy and radiation, and these are absorbed by
the atmosphere in an attempt to reduce their effects on Earth. However, the increase
of heat and energy result in the growth of Earth s ionosphere. Because this is the
section of the atmosphere in which man made waves travel, radio communications
can be disrupted by the unpredictable expansion. Satellites are also affected, because
they go from travelling through a vacuum to travelling through the enlarged upper
atmosphere. This leads to an increase in friction, a negative acceleration of the
satellite, and the satellite returning to Earth sooner that intended.
Supply Chain Network Design Essay
A review of literature related to supply chain network design area specified in
allocation and distribution problem under risks is presented in this section. There has
been a growing interest in supply chain network design criteria which has draw great
attention of a number of researchers to propose advanced models and develop
efficient methods. Traditionally, procurement, manufacturing, distribution and
planning processes are studied individually, however, with risk management in
demand and supply side taken into further consideration, there has been an increasing
attention placed on the integration of each process as a network design problem. To
go through literature related to supply chain network design model under conditions
of uncertainty, a search of references through library s database is conducted by
using criteria key words, which are supply chain network , distribution allocation ,
risk management , uncertainty , stochastic demand and supplier disruption .
Reference in appropriate mathematical programming methods and algorithms
possibly used to solve problems in this criteria is also big part of this literature
review. Large body of references shows that mixed integer programming (MIP)
models are commonly used in supply chain network design under conditions of
uncertainty. At below, I review the literature mainly in separate but complementary
parts. Supply chain network In recent business world, supply chain is an important
part of so many business. A
Yellowtone Bones
When we first studied the bones found in Yellowstone there were 112 bones
broken, fractured, or shattered. These included the ribs, vertebrae, radius, scapula,
clavicle and many more. The few major bones that stayed mainly intake were the
pelvis, humerus, tibia and the skull. Also, the femur was missing from the scene.
We assume that a bear or another predator probably got ahold of that bone.
Although Lin didn t break her skull, it is believed she went brain dead as soon as
she hit the ground. There are studies that we did that lead us to know that we found
were Lin.
First we figured out whether the bones were male or female. It was discovered they
were female from taking measurements from the skull, humerus, pelvis and tibia. The
pelvis, which we measured first had Вѕ of the traits pointing to being a female,
including the sub pubic angle, Greater Sciatic Notch and the cavity shape. Then the
skull had results of в…њ traits being a female. That is what threw us off. How could
it be so different from our first result with the pelvis. After much discussion it was
decided that since on the skull we used qualitative data that it wasn t as strong of
evidence. Lastly for the tibia and humerus, we got 6/6 traits being positive to female.
All of this quantitative and qualitative information was put together to determine that
the bones were from a female. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First we started with the nasal index, which was .50, perfectly matching the results
from the average asian skull. The nasal silling and prognathism also pointed towards
asian, showing rounded ridges and variable respectively. However, the next two
traits were both positive for female. After much time was spent checking our data, we
decided to conclude that the body was asian because в…— measurements showed

Essay On Canarium
1.0 Introduction
Canarium schweinfurthii Engl. (Burseraceae) is a large tropical tree widely
distributed in East, Central, and West Africa. A mature tree reaches a height of 45
57 m with a straight cylindrical bole up to 27 m with a trunk diameters of 1.2 to
1.5 m over a slight buttress root (Mbagwu et al., 2008). The tree is cultivated for its
fruits which are edible and produce oil which is harvested on a large scale in West
Africa. The oil from the resin is also used in perfumery and medicines due to its
lavender like smell. In Uganda, the resin from the tree is usually burnt to produce
incense for ceremonial purposes(Ssegawa and Kasenene, 2007). The stem and bark
are used to treat coughs, venereal diseases and exudates (Ngbede et al., ... Show more

So far, no work has been done on the use of Canarium oil.
The resin of Canarium contains a high percentage of essential oils with known
antioxidant and antifungal properties (Koudou et al., 2005; Obame et al., 2007).
Therefore, we were interested if the essential oil could be used as a protective agent
against termites as well. Furthermore, location and climatic conditions have an effect
on the growth of a tree and its production of resin and essential oils. Therefore we
wanted to establish if the oil from Uganda contains the same components as the oils
obtained from other parts of Africa.
In this study, the chemical composition of the essential oil from the resin of Ugandan
Canarium was determined, and its anti termitic activity was established.
2. Experimental procedures
2.1 Plant materials
The resin of Canarium schweinfurthii was harvested from the bark of a mature tree
in Sango bay and stored in a freezer. Termites used in the assay were Macrotermes
bellicosus as these have been found to be the most destructive to wood and timber.
Termites above the third instar were used.
2.2 Isolation of essential oils
The essential oil was obtained by steam distillation of the resin (50g) for 4 hours.
The oil obtained was dried over anhydrous sodium sulphate and kept in amber
coloured bottles at 4 oC prior to analysis.
2.3 GC MS analysis
The essential was analysed on an Agilent GC 6890N/MSD 5973B with a fused

Onward And Upward In The Garden By EB White
Across the nation, school aged children read many different novels. Teachers teach
students at a young age to dig deeper into the meaning of stories. This is evident in
one famous novel, known as Charlotte s Web. Elwyn Brooks (EB) White is known
as one of the greatest American writers, because of his symbolic children s novels
and unique style. EB was born on July 11, 1899, in Mount Vernon, New York. He
was the youngest child of Samuel Tilly White and Jessie Hart White. EB claims he
never liked the name Elwyn, and in an interview with The New York Times, he said,
My mother just hung it on me because she d run out of names (Biography.com par 2).
Although technically he goes by EB, while attending Cornell University, he acquired

When Katharine s book, Onward and Upward in the Garden, was published, EB
wrote the introduction saying, Life without Katharine is no good for me. One
could not deny that EB White loved his wife with everything he had. The time
period of which EB White lived very much affected his works. In the time of EB
White s life, he experienced many different historical events that greatly influenced
his writings. Some of these include World War I, the Great Depression, the
bombing of Pearl Harbor, World War II, Mccarthyism, the Civil Rights
Movement,Red China, and the Cold War. The time period in which EB lived was
one of the most turbulent times as far as history goes. One of EB s most beloved
novels is Charlotte s Web, published in 1952, which is about the friendship
between a spider and a pig. One day, he spotted a spider spinning an egg sac in his
barn, which inspired him to begin writing Charlotte s Web. This book is notable
for its usage of rhythm in its context (The Famous People par 18) His niece
encouraged him to begin writing children s books. His unique titles drew the
attention of young readers. The plot line of Charlotte s Web is very interesting, and
one would be surprised in how much can happen in the life of a pig, which contains
many ups and downs. From the very beginning of the story, it is recognized by
readers that Wilbur is in a whole lot of trouble. Right after his birth, Papa Arbale

True Australian Identity Essay
Is it the bush, kangaroos and the red sand? Or is the scorching sun, beach and
sunscreen? These images are often used to describe Australia but what about the
Australian identity? Throughout the various stages of Australian history, Australians
have attempted to grab onto an identity that makes them unique and able to bond with
another fellow Australian. This has not always been easy, given the diversity that has
grown over the centuries and the definition of the true Australian identity has changed
over time. The typical Australian is known to be fair, laid back, democratic and
having a dry and anti authoritarian sense of humour. These descriptions are often
identified with Australians who are born in this country, however there is more...

It would be too simplistic to claim that the true Australian identity could be defined
by examining the indigenous communities that existed before European settlement. It
is also unrealistic to just focus on British colonies that developed from convict
settlements or the towns that attracted free settlers from Britain and Europe who
were seeking a better life. Perhaps the only idea which can be retained from these
early times is the concept of seeking a better, which is a common aspect of Australian
identity within those who have come from across the seas to Australia. Those who
came during the Gold Rushes, the bushrangers who lived a life of crime, the
Europeans who fled poverty or the evil of World War One or two, all held onto the
idea that Australia provided an opportunity for something better. This is something
that was present hundreds of years ago and is still present in those who come from
Asia or Middle East by boat every year risking their lives. This concept is presented
through the character of Ricky Wong in we can be heroes who is doing a PhD in
physics and aiming at becoming an actor. Ricky proves that it is a part of Australian
identity to hope of a better life and to explore as many opportunities as possible. So
this is another aspect of our identity, the courage to face challenge and take risks is a
quality that many Australians value and
Examples Of Sarty In Barn Burning
Sarty s Decision Making difficult decisions is a part of everyday life, with some
decisions being bigger than others. Sometimes the decisions come with consequences
that could potentially change everything. Sarty wasn t sure if he made the right
decision, and in the end had to deal with the consequences that came with the choice
he made. In William Faulkners short story Barn burning, Sarty had to make the
decision to turn in his father, Abner, for his crimes of burning barns. Sarty is faced
with the decision when he is speaking to the Justice. They question him about a barn
burning which Sarty knows all too well about. He couldn t decide whether or not to
turn in his father for the crime he s sure Abner committed. He lied to the Justice...

Even though his father took his anger out on him, Sarty still looked up to him as a
brave man. He covered for his father time after time whenever he got in trouble
because he was afraid. He did what he thought his father wanted him to do. He
aims for me to lie, he thought, again with that frantic grief and despair. And I will
have to do hit (Faulkner 171). Sarty felt pressured to lie. He was living in fear of
his abusive father. He always tried to find a good reason for what his father did. He
always looked for an excuse as to why Abner burned things. He tried to convince
himself that lying to keep Abner out of trouble was the right thing to do. He even
tried to convince himself that the Justice were the enemy, and not his abusive father.
Enemy! Enemy! He thought; for a moment he could not even see, could not see that
the Justice s face was kindly nor discreen that his voice was troubled when he spoke
to the man named Harris (Faulkner 171). He is blinded from seeing that they re the
good guys because he s afraid of the consequences that would come with telling the
truth. He couldn t see that the people questioning him were on his
Seller s Disclosures And The Home Inspection Essay
SELLER S DISCLOSURES AND THE HOME INSPECTION
One of the more frustrating, but necessary elements of representing a seller or
buyer of a house is getting through a home inspection. In order to better deal with
this ordeal we must first look at why it is so important and then look at the best
way to educate the parties as to what to expect. In order to avoid any problems
during the process it is best for the parties to be forth right and make sure it is clear
to all the parties as to what their obligations are.
WHY IS THE INSPECTION SO IMPORTANT
New York is what is known in legal jargon as a Caveat Emptorstate which literally
means Let the buyer beware This has been handed down through old English
common law. The buyer in New York must insure that everything with the propertyis
satisfactory before they sign the contract and unless the contract sets forth
conditions which seller must correct the buyer is purchasing the property AS IS .
There are certain customary conditions which seller will insure, such as the
treatment of termites, and most contracts will provide that appliances, plumbing,
heating and electric systems will be in working order AT THE TIME OF
CLOSING. There are no guarantees or warranties provided. The electric system
may be working at the time of closing, but a buyer may discover after they move in
that the 60 amp service that was adequate for the 85 year old seller, who has owned
the house for 70 years, is not adequate to run an air conditioner and
Comparison Of Grendel And Frankenstein
If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
Similarly, if a being is never provoked by man, will it become a monster? The latter
is a question that is put into focus throughout Gardner s Grendel and Shelley s
Frankenstein. The reader learns of Grendel, and of Frankensteins creation, and must
determine if they are truly monsters or merely a product of the world they live in. It
is very easy to take one glance at the seemingly heinous crimes committed by
Grendel and Frankenstein s creation, and based off of this, deem them to be
monsters. However, it is the actions and words of manthat transform both Grendel,
and Frankenstein s creation into monsters. Both Grendel, and Frankenstein s
creations go through personal transformations throughout their lives. They both
begin life as innocent creatures with no intention to wreak havoc. Victor
Frankenstein created his creature and then immediately ran away from it in fear.
In reality, the creature just wanted to be loved and His jaws opened, and he
muttered some inarticulate sounds, while a grin wrinkled his cheeks (Shelley 59).
The creature was brought to life, and his first instinct was to emit a loving smile,
but he was met with a scream of terror. Similarly, Grendel began his life as a
righteous and pure creature. When Grendel was approached by drunken men
wielding battle axes, he sank to my knees, crying, Friend! Friend! (Gardner 52).
This proves that Grendel s initial instinct was to befriend the men, despite their
hostile approach. While the men continued to hack at Grendel he merely held up a
body for protection (Gardner 52) instead of fighting back. Grendel could have easily
overpowered and killed the men if he wanted to but he chose to simply protect
himself. Both creatures started off as innocent and pure until man got involved.
Grendel could only take so much neglect and abuse before he transformed into the
monsterthat readers recognize him to be. The actions of man were nothing short of
monstrous, and they caused Grendel to turn into a monster. The men did not allow
Grendel into the Mead Hall and they tried to kill him whenever they saw him. Even
when man was not doing something directly to Grendel, their

Pearl Harbor Propaganda Analysis
Straight from the start of the 1940 s throughout the world constant battle was
occurring that soon came to America. On December 7th 1941 was the day of the
attack on Pearl Harbor by Japan and from that day forward America had joined the
World War II which is still to this day the deadliest conflict in human history. World
War II was a challenging war that America did not just fight on land, air, and sea
but simultaneously on their own soil through the process of propaganda.
Propaganda was a major tool of any war which most people do not think about.
Winning a war is not just about having strong soldiers, it is also having the full

Speaking And Listening Skills Essay
Speaking and listening skills are very important for a number of reasons:
Spoken language is at the heart of human interaction, at home, at work and in
society. Speaking and listening skills are important in all contexts in which learning
takes place, whether it be literacy, language or numeracy, etc. Good speaking and
listening skills are a key aspect of employability: getting a job, maintaining
employment and progressing at work. Good oral communication skills are important
in other aspects of lives, for example in family and peer relationships. Purposeful use
of speaking and listening is central to effective teaching and learning. Speaking and
listening are important in all types of provision, be it discrete literacy and numeracy

Refractive Errors In Child Development Essay

birth to one year old of age, including depth perception and color vision. Similarly,
the main disorders present in infants will be discussed along with their treatments,
and advice on how to determine if a child may have a defect. From the moment of
birth, vision is not clear, babies should be sensitive to light and be able to tell
movement, but depth perception and full development of cones is not present yet.

According to Kierstan Boyd of the American Academy Of Ophthalmology, any
sign of disorder includes squinting along with a short attention span and turning
their head to the side to be able to see something better. The refractive errors
commonly present in children are hyperopia, commonly known as farsightedness,
which is when the eyeball is too short causing light to not focus on the retina but
behind it, this causes objects far away to appear clear while the closer ones are
blurry. Myopia, or nearsightedness, is when the eyeball is when the eyeball is too
long causing the light to be focused on the front of the retina, in this case, objects
far away will be fuzzy while the near ones are clear. Another example of
emmetropia is astigmatism, which is when the cornea is off shape leading to
overall distorted vision. All of these disorders can easily be corrected with
correction. Amblyopia, also known lazy eye, is when one eye does not develop
fully, therefore visual acuity in one is going to be better than the other. The neural
pathway in one eye never develops normally causing the eye to rely more on the
developed eye and ignoring the damaged
The Purpose And Importance Of Monuments
Monuments are used to memorialize and honor moments, individuals and events of
the past. Some monuments do this better than other monuments. In creating a
monument there are three essential factors a group or agency should consider to
make the monument as effective as possible: location, design features, purpose and
backstory. Why these factors? Location and design factors play a massive role in the
reception the monumentwill receive, based on its environment, size and looks a
monument will be perceived differently. The purpose and backstory are the two
single most important factors to consider in creating a monument. The monuments
history, its reason, is the reason just? Is the purpose proper? Does it accurately
memorialize the subject? All these questions come with the purpose and backstory of
a monument.
Location; where the monument is plays a big role in how effective a monument is in
memorializing or honoring a person or moment. For instance Mount Rushmore, to the
untrained eye, is four important men of the past on the side of a mountain, but it is
actually quite more. I have to admit: Mount Rushmore bothers me. It was bad
enough that white men drove the Sioux from the hills they still hold sacred; did they
have to carve faces all over them too? (Source C). Source C is saying that the
location of Mount Rushmore is disrespectful to the Sioux because that mountain is
sacred to them, and the people who drove the Native Americans off the land have
their faces on that
Confucianism In Chin The Fall Of The Qin Dynasty
There have been many debates among Chinese historians as to the cause of the fall of
the Qin Dynasty. The Qin used force and strict rules to keep a short leash on the
people of the kingdom. However, with the precautions taken by the government, they
did not know it would ultimately be their demise. In order to contain rebellion and to
keep the people of the empire ignorant, the combination of brutality, persecutions,
antagonizing of the elites, and denying the Way, led to the short reign and ultimately
the fall of the Qin Dynasty.
In order to start at the very core of the problem with the Qin, one must look into
Confucianism. Confucius, known as Master Qiu or Our Master Kong, lived during
the Spring and Autumn Period of the Zhou Dynasty from 551 479 B.C.E. He was
born in Lu in Eastern China of low nobility, but educated. During this time, war was
imminent. He spent a time during his life traveling from state to state helping, and
became employed by rulers who shared his view and perspective of life.
Now labeled as Confucianism, his teachings and philosophies shaped the Chinese
world for thousands of years. Confucius surviving teachings are published in his
Analects. Three important conducts that Confucius associated with moral nobility
were: filial, humaneness, and ritual decorum. Filial piety is the devotion, respect for
elders and know your place within the family. A young person who is filial and
respectful of his elders rarely becomes the kind of person who is
Chronology Of A Rose For Emily By Faulkner
In the story A Rose for Emily, the actually chronology of the events that occurred
happened in a much different order than the one that Faulkner told them in which
allows the reader to get a better insight into the characters and the plot of the story.
Faulkner begins telling the story from Emily Grierson s funeral, but quickly
switches into a flashback, a move he does often throughout the story, to begin telling
the reader about Emily s struggle with taxes and the changing of the administration
of the town in which she lived. In this scene, Faulkner gives Emily the impression
of her being older in age as she told the townspeople to See Colonel Sartoris when he
had been dead almost ten years (2). Faulkner then again switches time rapidly

Planning Your Perfect Vacation
Choosing a destination for your vacation may be the easiest part of planning the
whole trip but planning the details of it is the hard part. Some people have it down
to a science and some do it all last minute. When you wait until the last minute to
plan your trip it can end up being very expensive. I prefer to keep it simple and take
my time planning my trip, keeping it as stress free as possible. The first step in
planning your vacation is choosing the destination. Make sure that it is somewhere
that you and/or your companion are going to enjoy. If you are planning to go out of
the country, don t forget that you will... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You re going on vacation so pack comfortably
When you have chosen the location and received your passport the next thing you
must do is choose the dates that you will be going on your vacation but you must
also make sure that they corresponds with the climate. If you decide to go to a
warmer climate then you may want to go between the months of October and May
because the temperatures are not so extreme. If the hot summer months are what you
enjoy, then I recommend that you go on vacation from June through September. On
the other hand, if you choose to go to a cooler climate where it snows in the winter
months I would go during the summer.
After you choose your destination the next thing you must do is reserve your airfare
and hotel. This may be tough because there are many websites and travel agents
that you can go through. I have found that it is cheaper and easier to go through
Expedia.com. You can book your hotel and flight all together and pay one low price.
I have also found that flying with Southwest Airlines is very cheap and they have
many one way stops all across the country and for a cheap hotel that is very nice I
recommend the Extended Stay America.
While you are on your vacation make sure you make plenty of time for sightseeing.
If you are going to the Caribbean or someplace that has a beautiful body of water
that had lots of ocean life in it then I recommend going diving or snorkeling. This is
a great way to get in touch with
Omelas Analysis
Deceit of the Utopia: Analysis of The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas by
Ursula K. LeGuin What is one to make of the city of Omelas? It is a fantastical
place so transcendental that the author herself struggles to properly detail its majesty.
Omelas has everything it is beautiful, technologically advanced, and bears no need
for organized religion. The atmosphere is rich with music, festivities, and orgies. And
even with all this excessive indulgence, the people manage to remain elite: expert
craftsman in every art, scholars of the highest caliber, gentle mothers and fathers, and
all around good people. However, all this prosperity comes with a price. The success
and happiness of Omelas stems from the immense and intentional... Show more

That is, the acquiescence of the Omelasians minds to believing the delusion of a
sense of harmony provided by the child s grief. One could say that all the delights
present in the city the drugs, beer, and sex all of them seem to provide distraction
from the ugly truth of Omelas. They serve as mechanisms of denial, a means in
which the citizens use to hide themselves from humanity. The citizens come to the
consensus that nothing can be done for the child, and nothing should be done. To
help this one miserable child would lead to the suffering of an entire city, after all.
This is what the narrator persuades us to think. She uses many methods to prove her
point. For instance, she tells us that if the child were to be saved, in that day and
hour all the prosperity and beauty and delight of Omelas would wither and be
destroyed. (1552). She defends the people of Omelas, who are not heartless, cruel,
mindless simple utopians, but instead as passionate, intelligent, gentle people capable
of sympathy. However, they understand that the beauty of their city, the tenderness of
their friendships, the health of their children, the wisdom of their scholars...the kindly
weathers of their skies, depend wholly on this child s abominable misery. (1552).
Not only this, but she asserts that the child is too imbecile to recognize love
anymore; it has grown

Our culture, our traditions, our languages are the foundations upon which we build
our identity. Unknown. Bilingualism has many different interpretations and
definitions and can cause problems in the community or unite it. The concept of
bilingualism represents several different ideas, two writers, Martin Espada and
Richard Rodriguez share in their essays their personal stories about being immersed
into the English culture and learning the language. They share their views of what
bilingualism means to them personally and make arguments about the importance of
the concept. The two essayists bring awareness to the major role bilingualism plays in
the communities today and highlight the effects of disagreements between cultural

He argues that the Latinos and other bilingual people need to stand up for themselves
and their culture and not allow the more dominant languages to overtake them. With
the forced assimilation of Spanish speakers into the English culture, the Spanish
language is slowly dissolving. Many non bilingual people want to eliminate all other
languages beside the dominant language of English. Espada writes, There are too
many in this country who would amputate the Spanish tongue. (4). By eradicating the
Spanish language many bilingual speakers will lose both their sense of identity and
their voice in the world. Espada claims that bilingual people want to learn English,
but they also want to preserve their cultural identity. He explains how non English
speakers want to learn English, but continue to speak their native language; I have
never met a single person who didn t want to learn English. What they want to do is
also retain their own language, culture, and identity. (9 10). By retaining their own
culture and learning English they are able to participate in both cultures. Martin
Espada also argues that cultural aggression causes diversion amongst communities
and that Spanish speakers receive unfair treatments due to suspicion and fear from
non Spanish speaking people. Between the communities of Spanish and Non Spanish
speakers the presence of violence and bullying lingers and affects both of the
involved parties. Espada writes about one of his encounters with an
Familial Background And Cultural Differences On Learning
Familial background and culture are two aspects of a student s life that can have a
great impact on their learning. While familial background can include many factors
such as family structure, education, socioeconomic status, and culture this paper will
primarily focus on the cultural aspects of familial background. The way in which we
define culturecan be argued due to its complex aspects and multiple meanings.
However, in this class we have defined culture as a set of learned beliefs, values,
symbols, and behaviors, a way of life shared by society. (Mendoza, 2017) Culture as
defined in this way can have many impacts on a student s learning including
motivation, participation, and learning styles.
The Impact of Familial Background and Cultural Differences on Learning
Learning characteristics such as participation, motivation, and learning styles can
vary depending on the individual student but can also be influenced by cultural
differences. While it is important not to generalize students based on their cultural
backgrounds some aspects of their culture will impact how a student interacts in class.
For instance students from Individualist and Collectivist Cultures might interact
differently in class. According to David A. Kolb, a student from a collectivist culture
might prefer to work with others, be quiet and respectful, and see the teacher as the
primary authority whereas a student from an individualist culture might have entirely
different preferences and

Would you take a risk, knowing that there could be potential consequences?
Characters always find themselves in risky situations where they have to make a
tough choice. Most people aren t daring enough, and they wouldn t gamble with their
safety. Risk, and the process of making decisions, is a strategy that is prevalent in
Welcome to the Monkey House by Kurt Vonnegut
. Vonnegut uses this strategy to
show the conflicts and decisions that characters in his stories had to make. The use
of conflict and decisions are used in the stories A Long Walk to Forever and Next

willing to take chances.
Love has the power to make you do crazy things. When you re in love with
someone it makes your head go crazy, and it makes you act irrationally. Leading you
to take risks, and make difficult decisions. The theme of conflict and risk is prevalent
in Newt and Catherine s actions in A Long Walk to Forever. Newt and Catherine

sacrificing his job in the Army. Newt exclaimed I m what they call A.W.O.L.

The Father of Medicine, Hippocrates, Changed the...
Before Hippocrates, the perception of medicine was very different. He was born
in 460 BCE. He started scientific medicine . He was known as the father of
medicine. Before Hippocrates, Greeks believed that Gods sent disease and
provoked death. All disease could be healed by the process of propitiation (the
action of propitiating or appeasing a god, spirit, or person) of the Gods through
sacrifices and other rituals. Only the chosen ones could communicate with the Gods;
they were people who were worshiped after their death as deities and were
undertaking the task to mediate between the patient and the God for the sake of the
first. Deities and heroes who possessed the art of healing and practiced primitive
forms of medicineas shown in Greek mythology. Near contemporaries of Hippocrates
had different approaches to medicine. Petron believed that disease derived from
improper diet. Hippon thought moisture was the key to health. Philoaus determined
that there were three rather than four humors bile, blood, phlegm. Thrasymachus
focused on an excess of heat or cold. Menerates sought a balance of blood, bile,
phlegm, and breath. Little is known of Greek medicine before the appearance of
texts written in the fifth century B.C. Folk healing was often used, and the healer in
turn often summoned help from the gods. Some herbal drug therapies existed.
Various gods were identified with disease and injury. Apollo, the god of healing, both

Alexander Berkman s Activism
Alexander Berkman is most known for being the anarchist who attempted to
assassinate Henry Clay Frick, Carnegie Steel s anti union manager during the
lockout issues in the late 1800 s. This was one of his major actions as an anarchist,
however, there is much more to Berkman and his radical activism than his one act
of propaganda by deed. He was a larger part of the American anarchist movement of
the early 20th century than he is given credit for. I will explore Berkman s life and
political activism from origins in revolutionary Russia through his fight for American
workers and American anarchism, ending with his final Anarchist works in Europe
and eventual suicide.

Theme Of Motivation In Ayn Rand s Anthem
Jim Rohn, a motivationist once claimed If someone is going down the wrong road,
he doesn t need motivation to speed him up. What he needs is education to turn him
around. Ayn Rand s protagonist in Anthem, Equality 7 2521, lives in a society where
almost everyone is going down the wrong road. A society where it is a forbidden to
own one s opinion, occupation or freedom. Although this might seem like a black
hole that one cannot get out of, Equality climbs out using knowledge resulting from
his motivation. Throughout Ayn Rands Anthem, Equality s primary motivation of
curiosity is morally correct, however, when examining the real world when everyone
strives from the same motivation, there is a lack of justice.
Throughout his life, Equality s primary motivation had constantly been curiosity.

Equality s society is unjust because everyone strives for the same moral idea of
equality. In the real world, there is absolutely no such thing as absolute equality,
therefore when a slight difference occurs, there will be unjust. Equality stated,
This is a great sin, to be born with a head which is too quick. It is not good to be
different from our brothers, but it is evil to be superior to them. The Teachers told
us so, and they frowned when they looked upon us. (21) Even a small difference
such as intelligence still made Equality suffer. Motivation can also change one s
morality. The society s morality changed when all everyone push for is equality.

The Crime Types Of Crime In Criminological Crimes

is made sense of, specifically exploring the definitions and attitudes to sexual
offences. Exploring the crime throughout history and during the present day, so
called, epidemic of sexual offences; laws, trends and attitudes will allow concepts to
form as to how these views to sexual offences have impacted on theories with in
criminological knowledge.
Definitions
Crime is defined in the oxford dictionary as An action or omission which constitutes
an offence and is punishable by law. Criminologists look at change within the law,
media reactions and statistical trend; to create theoretical views and concepts to
explain crime and the criminal mind. A sexual offence is defined in the oxford
dictionary as The action or an act of forcing an unconsenting person to engage in
sexual activity; a rape; (Law) a crime involving forced sexual contact, variously
defined as inclusive or exclusive of rape. Actual definitions are important in the
understanding of a specific crime type and are regularly updated, especially when
it comes to consent; through history, what acts as consent has been contested.
Consent as of 2003 has been defined in section 74 of the sexual offences act (2003)
if he agrees by choice, and has the freedom and capacity to make that choice (CPS,
2017). This means that consent may be implied, but can be withdrawn at any point.

theses two theories share some similarities.

The Concept Of The Prokaryote Valid And Useful Or...
Is the concept of the prokaryote valid and useful or fundamentally flawed?
The term prokaryote was coined in 1925 by Г‰douard Chatton in his 1925 paper
Pansporella perplex: Reflections on the Biology and Phylogeny of the Protozoa.
(Chatton, 1925). Since then the term, when paired with its dichotomous counterpart
eukaryote , has formed the fundamental basis for classification in biology. However
in recent years the concept of the prokaryote has been wildly contested as being
inaccurate (amongst other things), and the dichotomy of eukaryote/prokaryote based
on a misleading and ultimately incorrect distinction that is phylogenetically
contestable. This essay will examine the validity and usefulness of the concept of the
prokaryote, as well as evaluate why the term or even the abolition of the term may be
important in different contexts.
The definition of a prokaryote is simply a single celled organism with no nuclear
membrane and consequently no membrane bound organelles. It is therefore logical
to assume that one would find a nucleus and membrane bound organelles in a
eukaryotic cell. Although the expression is widely accepted by myriad biologists
and microbiologists alike and has been since the birth of the term, the word has come
under much scrutiny due to its negative definition; as in prokaryote describes that the
cell is lacking characteristic eukaryotic features rather than being defined in its own
terms (Woese, 1994; Pace, 2006). This topic is highly

Action Plan: Unplanned Extubation in the NICU Angelica Moore Purdue University
Northwest Patient Safety/Quality Improvement Statement and Chosen Cause that
will Drive Improvement An unplanned extubation (UE) in the Neonatal Intensive
Care Unit (NICU) is an unforeseen occurrence observed due to various factors. One
of these is due to the lack of a procedural standardization among healthcare providers.
This is notably evident when staff is handling the infant during daily assessments and
when care is rendered. The reason this issue was selected was because of the
potential serious complications or death that a can occur to a patient due to the lack

reasonable personal decision. However, most of us will need a credit at some point
in life to get a mortgage, for instance.
At that point no credit score, good credit score or excellent credit score will make a
huge difference in terms and availability of a mortgage.
The length of a credit history accounts for 15 percent of your credit score.
Moreover, it is the factor that you will not be able to improve fast when you need it.
The best way to start building credit is to get a credit card and start using it
responsibly. Beside building a credit foundation, you will take advantage of extra
perks and rewards when you use your card.

The World Is A Ball Book Report
The world is a ball, by John Doyle, explores the culture of soccer. Doyle writes
about everything that has to do with his favourite sport from the attitude of hosting
countries, to the attitude of fans, to the scores of the games, to the political side of
soccer. Doyle discusses all the different aspects of soccer, all while travelling the
world to watch soccer. The book begins with Doyle reminiscing to the first time he
watched a soccer team Ireland, 1967. Growing up in a family highly opposed to
English pop culture, soccer was something he rarely heard about. He grew up in a
country where Gaelic footballand hurling was the sport to watch and play, and where
watching or playing soccer could result in trouble with The Christian Brothers.
Juvenile Residential Therapy
For offenders with mental health impairment, TJJD s institutional facilities are
staffed with mental health professionals in order to provide services that meet the
needs of each juveniles. For those diagnosed with severe mental health issues they are
most likely placed in Corsicana Residential Treatment Program. The immediate goal
is to treat the youth s mental healthimpairment. Once this is accomplished the focus
of treatment is on changing the delinquent and criminal patterns within the juvenile s
behavior. The final goal within treatment concerns reintegrating youth with his or her
family. Unfortunately handling juveniles with mental healthproblems pose a
particularly difficult problem for TJJD. However, according to TJJD the specialized...

As mentioned within the paper, there are benefits to having services provided by
both public and private entities; however, there are also concerns. The public sector,
which was portrayed by services offered by TJJD, are required to provide yearly
reports. In many ways these reports keep the system accountable for the money
they are spending and the services they provide or require for juvenile offenders.
The reports are open to the public and are easily accessible. As it relates to
research, these reports allow people to critically assess juvenile programs, while
challenging the government to refine or create programs superior to the ones
offered in the past. Reports like these are harder to find regarding services offered
by private entities and is a concern. Programs in which juvenile offenders are
required to successfully complete, should never be determined by trial and error;
however, this is often the case. On a positive note, private entities and community
resources typically target the specific needs of a juvenile and include mental health
components. Programs which do not offer mental health services should be critically
assessed, as they are less likely to succeed. It is important that continued research is
applied to the programs offered by both the public and private sectors. As it stands
today, treatment services offered

Analysis Of The House On Mango Street
Throughout the novel, The House on Mango Street Esperanza s negative outlook
on herself and her life slowly improves as she realizes she has a bigger place
outside of Mango Street and that her lasting impact can help influence the lives of
others who cannot as easily escape as she. In the chapter, The House on Mango
Street, Esperanza has a very negative and unsatisfied outlook on her life, mainly
centered around her house. She wishes and dreams for a life in which she can live
without feeling ashamed or embarrassed about what neighborhood her house was
in. Her parents told her For the time being... (and) temporary (5) when they moved
into the shabby and crowded house on Mango Street. Esperanza has grown
accustomed to a life where she has been let down and disappointed, this shapes her
attitude towards Mango Street and her personal viewing of herself. Esperanza is a
character where the way she feels about herself is based upon the opinions of others
and judgemental nuns, for example have put her into a place where she feels
insecure and dissatisfied about her family and where they live.In Chanclas
Esperanza receives shiny new clothes that boost her confidence until she realizes that
her shoes remain shabby. In this chapter, we see the recurring theme of Esperanza s
dissatisfaction, even though she receives more than she had before. During the
dance, she forgets she is wearing ordinary shoes (47) and by having a good time with
her family, she is satisfied in the moment. This
Ethical Predestination
If God does elect and reserves a spot for those who get to receive salvation or
condemnation before time, then there is no such thing as free will amongst human
beings. There is no free will because God already chose who gets what, so there is
no point in worshipping a God that might condemn you. The primary source of this
essay is Institutes of the Christian Religion, Book 3, Chapters, 21 23 by Jean Calvin.
In this essay I am going to prove that predestinationis not an ethically acceptable
doctrine to justify Gods actions. If there is a God, he is usually identified as a
powerful, all knowing, and never wrong entity that watches over all of humanity.
God created every living thing on Earth. So, God supposedly loves and cares for...

All the efforts put into donating money, blood, clothes and etc... is of no use
because a dead person does not need any of those materialistic goods. God already
chose who gets salvation and condemnation. Redemption is only done by a person
who wants to feel that they have done good deeds for God to see and God will
reward them with salvation. Just like how human always wants to be rewarded for
all the works they do. For example, a child does good deeds around the house in the
form of chores set out by their parents. After finishing said chores, a child is
rewarded. The parents can reward the child in the form of a praise, in the form of
money, or in the form of a toy. All humans care is rewards received after every work

General Hospital spoilers promise a week of surprises as the Nurses Ball begins at
the start of the week. There are several storylines that have questions that are about
to get answered, including one that has been hanging in the balance for what
seems like forever. Port Charles is ready for the glitz and glamor the Nurses Ball

the town causing issues for several families. May sweeps are halfway over and the
General Hospital writers have been busy working hard to please viewers. Spoilers

at the Nurses Ball. A while back, the actress tweeted that she would be back from a
hiatus soonish, but didn t elaborate any further. According to She Knows Soaps,
General Hospital spoilers say that Nathan s (Ryan Paevey) night will get
significantly better on Tuesday. Does this mean that the chatter about his wife s
return is true? If so, this is could be a game changer for Amy (Risa Dorken) who
appears to be sweet on the police detective. It was also confirmed that Bradford
Anderson would be reprising his role as Spinelli. Could this all tie together?

this ties into Alex (Finola Hughes) being in Port Charles. General Hospital fans will

The Impositive Impacts Of A Positive Effects On Academic...
Effects on Academic Achievement
Matt Leland (2005) emphasizes the benefits of mindfulness on academic
achievement, Mindfulness is helpful in the moment of learning and also in more
future focused skills. By maintaining a calmer view of the present, students are able
to improve their study habits, planning, and organizational skills (p. 20). During my
elementary years, I wish I would have been taught more of these skills to help with
the academic struggles I experienced. When I was younger, I remember feeling
performance anxiety before I had to take an exam in science. Although I enjoyed
science class and studied, I felt overwhelmed, nervous, and my mind was going in a
million different directs. I also notice in my field experience that many of my
students tense up or sigh when they are told they are about to take an exam. There is
an uneasiness that affected students in the classroom and added pressure.
The research I gathered supported the positive effects mindfulness has on a student s
concentration, memory, and critical thinking skills. As a teacher, I would utilize this
method before an exam by modeling to my students how to focus on their breath
while moving and stretching their body. I would have students close their eyes and
say positive words of affirmation about themselves in the present moment. Here,
mindfulness and movement allow students to feel a sense of calmness, stimulate
body and brain connections, and provide them with tools to take a positive approach

How Did Lenin Become Totalitarian
In the widely known book Animal Farm, by George Orwell, Old Major,
metaphorically representing Vladimir Lenin, was an influential and intelligent
character who hoped for a government where there was equality and unity within his
nation. Vladimir Lenin had one day hoped for a government called Marxism
Leninism; which was an expanded form of Communismthat would hugely benefit the
working class of the nation. Although he wanted such a fantastic sounding
government system, when put to work on a nation, it would be almost certain to fall
apart, due to the greed and variety of human nature. The government system in which
the writers believe Lenin would prosper the most, is a government close to the way
the United States run, which is a Constitutional Republic... Show more content on

Lenin was a heavy political speaker and had great plans, but the government he
lived in limited what he was about to fix or at least try to change. However moving
him to a Constitutional Republic Democracy would fix this and give him a chance
to do what he loved, changing things for the better. Not only this, but Lenin could
also make the government more equal and perfect like he always wanted it to be.
Lenin would have the right to speak about what the people and government is
wrong and he could innovate it to what the people wanted. Lenin was trying to
change the world into a improved and balanced world where all people are equal
and there s no dictator, and this political system will give him this freedom. For
example, Lenin could help the working class and below advantage people get some
of the money that the 1% is hogging all to themselves. He can show everyone that its
now time for change into a improved and phenomenal nation, and this time he will
have not as many limits as he had in the Russian
The Testament Of The Old Testament
The Old Testament is divided into many sections. Each has its own purpose and its
own style of writing. The first section of the Old Testament is known as the
Pentateuch and contains the first five books of the Bible.. It includes the books of
Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. The next section, the
historical books, tell the history of the Israelite people. This section includes the
books of Judges, Kings, and Esther. The third section, the wisdom books, contain
ideals on morality and guidance on how the Israelitesshould live their life. Finally, the
Prophetic books, the fourth section, is composed of the writings of the prophets, God
s messengers, to Israel.
Inside each section of the Old Testament, however, each book follows the life of a
different person and story of the Israelite people. Some books in the Historical
section mention the faithfulness of the Israelites, and others focus on how far the
tribe has wandered from the ways. One book in particular differs from every other
book in the Bible. That difference is that it doesn t mention God or God s message.
That book is called Esther. The book of Esther is about the Israelite people while
they are in the Persian kingdom. A man named Mordecai, one of the Israelites,
worked for the Persian King Ahasuerus. One day Mordecai overheard two guards
conspiring to kill the King. Mordecai informed the king and thus saved him. This
earned Mordecai favor in the court. However, another of the king s

Sinners In The Hands Of The Angry God Analysis
In his sermon, Sinners In The Hands of the Angry God, Jonathan Edwards, uses
figurative language and dictation to bring about an emotional reaction from his
Puritan audience. He successfully manipulated his audience by the use of imagery.
He uses imagery to scare people by explaining what the angry Godis fully capable of
doing. The images frighten his audience by comparing their sins to the torture that
God has put them through. The images show how Hell has a wipe gaping mouth
that is open. If God does not want you in the heavens and he ever lets you go you
shall go falling to Hell, like there are great weights and pressure on you. He also
makes a lot of metaphors to explain how extreme it must be down in Hell. The wrath

Essay On Killer Angels
Killer Angels is a 1974 historical novel by Michael Shaara. The book tells the story
of the Battle of Gettysburg in the American Civil War. The novel is told through the
voices of both Union army and Confederate Army of Northern Virginia leaders who
were in battle there. The novel is laid out in days and each new chapter for the day
gives a number and the name of the man who is the focus of the chapter. In Killer
Angels, the Army of Northern Virginias demise is highlighted by a few different
features. The failing health and age of Robert E. Leeserved to distract him from
military obligations, the advantage point the Union side had over Confederate Army
at the Battle of Gettysburg, and the most significant reason for demise, was the...

Throughout Killer Angels, Lee is described in a way as taking it easy because of
his heart condition. Lee sat down against a rail fence (106). Lee took a quick nap
(143). It s easy to see the Lee was doing a lot of resting because of his heart
condition. An army cannot be effectively led if the commander is sitting,
preoccupied with the pain of a health condition, and taking it easy. Another
problem Lee had was that he was seen as a father figure to most of the men and
treated them softly. Stuart was supposed to be gathering information for Lee, but
instead he was out joy riding which left the Army of Northern Virginia basically
blind as to where the North regiments were positioned. Longstreet said When Stuart
comes back you ought to court martial him (82). However, Lee believed reproach,
letting Stuart know how badly he let them down, would make him a good soldier.
When dealing with Stuart Lee spoke as you speak to a child and wanted to reassure
him. He treated Stuart softly (256 266). Lee s age, failing health, and softness on his
men was one reason the Army of Northern Virginia lost the Battle of Gettysburg.
Next, the Union had an advantage over the Confederates in the Battle of Gettysburg.
Gettysburg is in Pennsylvania which was part of the North, so they were in home
territory and had a home field advantage. In chapter 7 of July 1, 1863, Buford for the
Union, had secured the best high ground Cemetery Hill, Cemetery Ridge, and Little

Development of American Society During Andrew Jackson
s...
Following the transformation of the American society after the War of 1812 and
preceding the Civil War, the two terms of President Andrew Jackson proved to be a
crucial time in the development of American society. Jackson and his supporters
convinced themselves, and many Americans, that they were, in fact, protectors of
American ideals. In their eyes, they remained true to the roots and foundations of the
United States. But, in reality, the Democratic partyof the 1820s and 1830s did quite
the opposite, limiting state s rights by denouncing nullification, infringing upon the
liberties of numerous individuals, including thousands of Native Americans, and
instituting social and economic unrest through the institution of high tariffs and...

Jackson s act of implementing military force in defending his position against state s
rights, revealed the inconsistencies of his character due to the fact that, earlier in his
term, he had taken a stand that favored state s liberties.
What could be argued as the most infamous line from the Declaration of
Independence all men are created equal immediately comes to mind when
perceiving the actions of President Jackson and his Democratic supporters in
regard to Native and African Americans. Asserting to be guardians of the
Constitution and, subsequently, personal liberties, Jackson exposed the hypocrisy
of his creed in both his previous ownership of a plantation full of slaves and his
passing of the Indian Removal Act of 1830. Partly fueled by Jackson s hatred of
independent Indian nations and partly fueled by his abhorrence of Supreme Court
Justice John Marshall, the Indian Removal Act of 1830 gave Jackson the power to
exchange Native American land in the East with smaller Indian territories in the
West. As can be seen in Document G, Native Americans faced indescribable
emotional grief, not to mention physical pain, in their experiences on the Trail of Tears
. President Jackson, though, did not trouble himself with such trivial matters seeing
that the Removal Act satisfied his personal goal of acquiring more

  • 2. Harriet Tubman Perseverance Harriet Tubman was a great person who leads slaves to freedom! She was a conductor. For example, she saved people that were slaves (over 200 people). She was also a brave person and a strong one too because she had gone around to many people to save them from being a slave. I bet you can t do that, can you. Harriet was a slave at first, but she changed her life around. She escaped to be an abolitionist in 1849. She had been treated very badly and that is the reason why Harriet had wanted to leave so badly. She became a conductor. She had memorized the routes so in case there was something wrong, she would know a different way to save the people. She had always gone out of her way to save people. Whenever she had saved people she would sometimes
  • 3. Sunspots Research Paper Sunspots are generated by strong and dense magnetic fields, and these magnetic fields are caused by flowing plasma that gets tangled and moves through the photosphere. [1] However, it is not actually sunspot activity that effects the Earth s power grid and satellite communications, [2] but rather the solar flares and coronal mass ejections (CMEs) that can be caused by sunspots that cause problems. [3] Solar flares are eruptions of energy from the sun s surface. Quickly reaching temperatures of 10 to 20 million Kelvin, these flares can rise thousands of kilometres above the chromosphere, and can release energies of up to 6 x 1025 joules (equivalent to the energy of a few million volcanic eruptions on the earth ) [4]. Solar flares have three classifications: X, M, and C class. X class solar flares are the largest of the three, and also have the largest impact on Earth, causing long lasting radiation storms in the upper atmosphere, and causing radio blackouts. M class solar flares are less powerful than X class, however they can still cause the occasional radiation storm, and brief radio blackouts in the polar regions. C class are the smallest of them, and barely have any impact on Earth. [5] Whilst solar flares release high amounts of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Solar flares give off large amounts of energy and radiation, and these are absorbed by the atmosphere in an attempt to reduce their effects on Earth. However, the increase of heat and energy result in the growth of Earth s ionosphere. Because this is the section of the atmosphere in which man made waves travel, radio communications can be disrupted by the unpredictable expansion. Satellites are also affected, because they go from travelling through a vacuum to travelling through the enlarged upper atmosphere. This leads to an increase in friction, a negative acceleration of the satellite, and the satellite returning to Earth sooner that intended.
  • 4. Supply Chain Network Design Essay A review of literature related to supply chain network design area specified in allocation and distribution problem under risks is presented in this section. There has been a growing interest in supply chain network design criteria which has draw great attention of a number of researchers to propose advanced models and develop efficient methods. Traditionally, procurement, manufacturing, distribution and planning processes are studied individually, however, with risk management in demand and supply side taken into further consideration, there has been an increasing attention placed on the integration of each process as a network design problem. To go through literature related to supply chain network design model under conditions of uncertainty, a search of references through library s database is conducted by using criteria key words, which are supply chain network , distribution allocation , risk management , uncertainty , stochastic demand and supplier disruption . Reference in appropriate mathematical programming methods and algorithms possibly used to solve problems in this criteria is also big part of this literature review. Large body of references shows that mixed integer programming (MIP) models are commonly used in supply chain network design under conditions of uncertainty. • 5. Yellowtone Bones When we first studied the bones found in Yellowstone there were 112 bones broken, fractured, or shattered. These included the ribs, vertebrae, radius, scapula, clavicle and many more. The few major bones that stayed mainly intake were the pelvis, humerus, tibia and the skull. Also, the femur was missing from the scene. We assume that a bear or another predator probably got ahold of that bone. Although Lin didn t break her skull, it is believed she went brain dead as soon as she hit the ground. There are studies that we did that lead us to know that we found were Lin. First we figured out whether the bones were male or female. It was discovered they were female from taking measurements from the skull, humerus, pelvis and tibia. The pelvis, which we measured first had Вѕ of the traits pointing to being a female, including the sub pubic angle, Greater Sciatic Notch and the cavity shape. Then the skull had results of в…њ traits being a female. That is what threw us off. How could it be so different from our first result with the pelvis. After much discussion it was decided that since on the skull we used qualitative data that it wasn t as strong of evidence. Lastly for the tibia and humerus, we got 6/6 traits being positive to female. All of this quantitative and qualitative information was put together to determine that the bones were from a female. ... The resin of Canarium contains a high percentage of essential oils with known antioxidant and antifungal properties (Koudou et al., 2005; Obame et al., 2007). Therefore, we were interested if the essential oil could be used as a protective agent against termites as well. Furthermore, location and climatic conditions have an effect on the growth of a tree and its production of resin and essential oils. Therefore we wanted to establish if the oil from Uganda contains the same components as the oils obtained from other parts of Africa. In this study, the chemical composition of the essential oil from the resin of Ugandan Canarium was determined, and its anti termitic activity was established. 2. Experimental procedures 2.1 Plant materials The resin of Canarium schweinfurthii was harvested from the bark of a mature tree in Sango bay and stored in a freezer. Termites used in the assay were Macrotermes bellicosus as these have been found to be the most destructive to wood and timber. Termites above the third instar were used. 2.2 Isolation of essential oils The essential oil was obtained by steam distillation of the resin (50g) for 4 hours. The oil obtained was dried over anhydrous sodium sulphate and kept in amber coloured bottles at 4 oC prior to analysis. 2.3 GC MS analysis The essential was analysed on an Agilent GC 6890N/MSD 5973B with a fused

This has not always been easy, given the diversity that has grown over the centuries and the definition of the true Australian identity has changed over time. The typical Australian is known to be fair, laid back, democratic and having a dry and anti authoritarian sense of humour. These descriptions are often identified with Australians who are born in this country, however there is more... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It would be too simplistic to claim that the true Australian identity could be defined by examining the indigenous communities that existed before European settlement. It is also unrealistic to just focus on British colonies that developed from convict settlements or the towns that attracted free settlers from Britain and Europe who were seeking a better life. Perhaps the only idea which can be retained from these early times is the concept of seeking a better, which is a common aspect of Australian identity within those who have come from across the seas to Australia. Those who came during the Gold Rushes, the bushrangers who lived a life of crime, the Europeans who fled poverty or the evil of World War One or two, all held onto the idea that Australia provided an opportunity for something better. This is something that was present hundreds of years ago and is still present in those who come from Asia or Middle East by boat every year risking their lives. This concept is presented through the character of Ricky Wong in we can be heroes who is doing a PhD in physics and aiming at becoming an actor. Ricky proves that it is a part of Australian identity to hope of a better life and to explore as many opportunities as possible. So this is another aspect of our identity, the courage to face challenge and take risks is a quality that many Australians value and

Sometimes the decisions come with consequences that could potentially change everything. Sarty wasn t sure if he made the right decision, and in the end had to deal with the consequences that came with the choice he made. In William Faulkners short story Barn burning, Sarty had to make the decision to turn in his father, Abner, for his crimes of burning barns. Sarty is faced with the decision when he is speaking to the Justice. They question him about a barn burning which Sarty knows all too well about. Sarty felt pressured to lie. He was living in fear of his abusive father. He always tried to find a good reason for what his father did. He always looked for an excuse as to why Abner burned things. He tried to convince himself that lying to keep Abner out of trouble was the right thing to do. He even tried to convince himself that the Justice were the enemy, and not his abusive father. Enemy! Seller s Disclosures And The Home Inspection Essay SELLER S DISCLOSURES AND THE HOME INSPECTION One of the more frustrating, but necessary elements of representing a seller or buyer of a house is getting through a home inspection. In order to better deal with this ordeal we must first look at why it is so important and then look at the best way to educate the parties as to what to expect. In order to avoid any problems during the process it is best for the parties to be forth right and make sure it is clear to all the parties as to what their obligations are. WHY IS THE INSPECTION SO IMPORTANT New York is what is known in legal jargon as a Caveat Emptorstate which literally means Let the buyer beware This has been handed down through old English common law. The buyer in New York must insure that everything with the propertyis satisfactory before they sign the contract and unless the contract sets forth conditions which seller must correct the buyer is purchasing the property AS IS . There are certain customary conditions which seller will insure, such as the treatment of termites, and most contracts will provide that appliances, plumbing, heating and electric systems will be in working order AT THE TIME OF CLOSING. There are no guarantees or warranties provided. The electric system may be working at the time of closing, but a buyer may discover after they move in that the 60 amp service that was adequate for the 85 year old seller, who has owned the house for 70 years, is not adequate to run an air conditioner and
  • 14. Comparison Of Grendel And Frankenstein If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound? Similarly, if a being is never provoked by man, will it become a monster? The latter is a question that is put into focus throughout Gardner s Grendel and Shelley s Frankenstein. The reader learns of Grendel, and of Frankensteins creation, and must determine if they are truly monsters or merely a product of the world they live in. It is very easy to take one glance at the seemingly heinous crimes committed by Grendel and Frankenstein s creation, and based off of this, deem them to be monsters. However, it is the actions and words of manthat transform both Grendel, and Frankenstein s creation into monsters. Both Grendel, and Frankenstein s creations go through personal transformations throughout their lives. They both begin life as innocent creatures with no intention to wreak havoc. Victor Frankenstein created his creature and then immediately ran away from it in fear. In reality, the creature just wanted to be loved and His jaws opened, and he muttered some inarticulate sounds, while a grin wrinkled his cheeks (Shelley 59). The creature was brought to life, and his first instinct was to emit a loving smile, but he was met with a scream of terror. Similarly, Grendel began his life as a righteous and pure creature. When Grendel was approached by drunken men wielding battle axes, he sank to my knees, crying, Friend! Friend! (Gardner 52). This proves that Grendel s initial instinct was to befriend the men, despite their hostile approach. While the men continued to hack at Grendel he merely held up a body for protection (Gardner 52) instead of fighting back. Grendel could have easily overpowered and killed the men if he wanted to but he chose to simply protect himself. Both creatures started off as innocent and pure until man got involved. Grendel could only take so much neglect and abuse before he transformed into the monsterthat readers recognize him to be. The actions of man were nothing short of monstrous, and they caused Grendel to turn into a monster. The men did not allow Grendel into the Mead Hall and they tried to kill him whenever they saw him. Even when man was not doing something directly to Grendel, their

  • 24. The Purpose And Importance Of Monuments Monuments are used to memorialize and honor moments, individuals and events of the past. Some monuments do this better than other monuments. In creating a monument there are three essential factors a group or agency should consider to make the monument as effective as possible: location, design features, purpose and backstory. Why these factors? Location and design factors play a massive role in the reception the monumentwill receive, based on its environment, size and looks a monument will be perceived differently. The purpose and backstory are the two single most important factors to consider in creating a monument. The monuments history, its reason, is the reason just? Is the purpose proper? Does it accurately memorialize the subject? All these questions come with the purpose and backstory of a monument. Location; where the monument is plays a big role in how effective a monument is in memorializing or honoring a person or moment. For instance Mount Rushmore, to the untrained eye, is four important men of the past on the side of a mountain, but it is actually quite more. I have to admit: Mount Rushmore bothers me. It was bad enough that white men drove the Sioux from the hills they still hold sacred; did they have to carve faces all over them too? (Source C). Source C is saying that the location of Mount Rushmore is disrespectful to the Sioux because that mountain is sacred to them, and the people who drove the Native Americans off the land have their faces on that

The Qin used force and strict rules to keep a short leash on the people of the kingdom. However, with the precautions taken by the government, they did not know it would ultimately be their demise. In order to contain rebellion and to keep the people of the empire ignorant, the combination of brutality, persecutions, antagonizing of the elites, and denying the Way, led to the short reign and ultimately the fall of the Qin Dynasty. In order to start at the very core of the problem with the Qin, one must look into Confucianism. Confucius, known as Master Qiu or Our Master Kong, lived during the Spring and Autumn Period of the Zhou Dynasty from 551 479 B.C.E. He was born in Lu in Eastern China of low nobility, but educated. During this time, war was imminent. He spent a time during his life traveling from state to state helping, and became employed by rulers who shared his view and perspective of life. Now labeled as Confucianism, his teachings and philosophies shaped the Chinese world for thousands of years. Confucius surviving teachings are published in his Analects. Three important conducts that Confucius associated with moral nobility were: filial, humaneness, and ritual decorum. Filial piety is the devotion, respect for elders and know your place within the family. A young person who is filial and respectful of his elders rarely becomes the kind of person who is

They serve as mechanisms of denial, a means in which the citizens use to hide themselves from humanity. The citizens come to the consensus that nothing can be done for the child, and nothing should be done. To help this one miserable child would lead to the suffering of an entire city, after all. While familial background can include many factors such as family structure, education, socioeconomic status, and culture this paper will primarily focus on the cultural aspects of familial background. The way in which we define culturecan be argued due to its complex aspects and multiple meanings. However, in this class we have defined culture as a set of learned beliefs, values, symbols, and behaviors, a way of life shared by society. (Mendoza, 2017) Culture as defined in this way can have many impacts on a student s learning including motivation, participation, and learning styles. The Impact of Familial Background and Cultural Differences on Learning Learning characteristics such as participation, motivation, and learning styles can vary depending on the individual student but can also be influenced by cultural differences. While it is important not to generalize students based on their cultural backgrounds some aspects of their culture will impact how a student interacts in class. All disease could be healed by the process of propitiation (the action of propitiating or appeasing a god, spirit, or person) of the Gods through sacrifices and other rituals. Only the chosen ones could communicate with the Gods; they were people who were worshiped after their death as deities and were undertaking the task to mediate between the patient and the God for the sake of the first. The term prokaryote was coined in 1925 by Г‰douard Chatton in his 1925 paper Pansporella perplex: Reflections on the Biology and Phylogeny of the Protozoa. (Chatton, 1925). Since then the term, when paired with its dichotomous counterpart eukaryote , has formed the fundamental basis for classification in biology. However in recent years the concept of the prokaryote has been wildly contested as being inaccurate (amongst other things), and the dichotomy of eukaryote/prokaryote based on a misleading and ultimately incorrect distinction that is phylogenetically contestable. This essay will examine the validity and usefulness of the concept of the prokaryote, as well as evaluate why the term or even the abolition of the term may be important in different contexts. The definition of a prokaryote is simply a single celled organism with no nuclear membrane and consequently no membrane bound organelles. It is therefore logical to assume that one would find a nucleus and membrane bound organelles in a eukaryotic cell. Although the expression is widely accepted by myriad biologists and microbiologists alike and has been since the birth of the term, the word has come under much scrutiny due to its negative definition; as in prokaryote describes that the cell is lacking characteristic eukaryotic features rather than being defined in its own terms (Woese, 1994; Pace, 2006). During my elementary years, I wish I would have been taught more of these skills to help with the academic struggles I experienced. When I was younger, I remember feeling performance anxiety before I had to take an exam in science. Although I enjoyed science class and studied, I felt overwhelmed, nervous, and my mind was going in a million different directs. I also notice in my field experience that many of my students tense up or sigh when they are told they are about to take an exam. There is an uneasiness that affected students in the classroom and added pressure. The research I gathered supported the positive effects mindfulness has on a student s concentration, memory, and critical thinking skills. As a teacher, I would utilize this method before an exam by modeling to my students how to focus on their breath while moving and stretching their body. I would have students close their eyes and say positive words of affirmation about themselves in the present moment. Here, mindfulness and movement allow students to feel a sense of calmness, stimulate body and brain connections, and provide them with tools to take a positive approach
