New England Ready For War Essay
New England Colony
Are they ready for war?
We the people whom live in thee New England Colonies who were originally from Great Britain
called Puritans and Pilgrims are more of the peaceful type of people whom worship God. We are
people whom want to change the Church of England but saw no change, so we went to the The
New England Colonies to get away from their religious persecution. We are not brutal people such
as the people living in Georgia in the Southern Colonies and are not yet prepared to fight in a war.
The people here came over to worship the way that pleased them. We the people surrounding the
busy port cities of the Boston harbor lived in small towns or villages and church was the center of
our daily life. We settled in the Massachusetts... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If there is a war and they plan on getting their food from fishing somebody has to do it and slaves
are not a big part of our population. Then if we decide to trade for food with the Mid Atlantic
Colonies or the Southern colonies, then we would have to wait for those shipments to come in,
not having a bountiful supply on hand. We are not brutal men, for their daily life surrounds
around the church and these people are not prepared. Economically, these people are ready and
they make their own manufactured products and they are able to spread word easily and are
always addressing problems. These people only need natural materials in order to make them so
they would be able to be well supplied. Using the terrain would make so that the French fight
uphill and they fight downhill. So even though there were many things that would help them
through the war, their peaceful ways would prohibit them to be good fighters. I am asking you
to help us in many ways if we go to war. First, we would need training to have better soldiers.
Second, we would need to stalk up on supplies and cotton for clothes to keep them warm. If all of
these things are accomplished then the New England Colony will be ready for

Stop Smoking Patchs Not Work
WHY STOP SMOKING PATCHES NOT WORK
There are many ways to quit smoking these days, and most of them involve a form of nicotine
replacement. Nicotine patches are the most popular form of smoking cessation available on the
market today and it has really worked for very many people. But, given the high price of the note,
making an expensive gamble when you buy stop smoking patches because the chances are much
less than fifty percent that they will work for you.
If you have never used or even seen quit smoking patches, they are patch. This means that the

Minisatellites Essay
Minisatellites
Along with the development of the PCR, a new type of polymorphism of DNA was discovered in
the DNA structure known as hypervariable minisatellites. Large proportion of the eukaryotes
genomes is consists of non coding DNA. Usually, this non coding region carries some regulatory
elements such as promoters and enhancers but in many cases it also contains repetitive elements,
e.g. multiple repeats (Turner et al., 1998). These repetitions include satellite DNA, which comprises
thousands of tandem repeats in one site, as well as minisatellite and microsatellite DNA, depending
on the number of repeats (Vanhala et al., 1998). These minisatellites are defined regions of DNA
with polymorphisms in the number of repeated nucleotide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Typically they may be dinucleotides (AC)n, (AG)n, (AT)n; trinucleotides (TCT)n, (TTG)n;
tetranucleotides (TATG)n and so on, where n is the number of repeating units within the
microsatellite locus. In addition to occurring at many different loci, they can also be polyallelic
(Selkoe and Toonen, 2006). They are repeated (usually 5 20 times) in the genome with a minimum
repeat length of 12 base pairs (Goodfellow, 1992). Liu et al., 2001c profound that the best known
examples of microsatellites within coding regions are those causing genetic diseases in humans,
such as the CAG repeats that encode polyglutamine tract, resulting in mental retardation.
Microsatellites tend to mutate with mutation rates of up to 10 2 per generation (Bruford and
Wayne, 1993). Variation in the number of tandemly repeated units is mainly due to strand slippage
during DNA replication where the repeats allow matching via excision or addition of repeats
(Schlotterer and Tautz, 1992). As slippage in replication is more likely than point mutations,
microsatellite loci tend to be hypervariable. Microsatellite assays show extensive inter individual
length polymorphisms during PCR analysis of unique loci using discriminatory primers sets.
Microsatellites are inherited in a Mendelian fashion as codominant markers (Schlotterer, 2004).
This is strength of microsatellite markers in addition to their

Designers and Manufacturers Should Rethink and Redesign...
This is a book by two researchers who are trying to find ways to build and make things that are
friendlier to the environment. Their approach is very different from the usual ecological approach,
which, as put by McDonough and Braungart, is to be less bad. The regular approach has normally
been to just reduce the amount of toxins in a product, or trying to collect and recycle goods, or
adding expensive and bulky fixes to already existing systems. But not in this book; the authors idea
is that designers and manufacturers should instead try to rethink and redesign the materials that
they make with their end uses in mind. By using nontoxic materials that can also easily break down
into quality materials, this creates byproducts that can be reused to manufacture quality items. The
authors also recommend the planning of buildings and industrial complexes to use the environment
that surrounds them for things like heating, cooling, and design. One of the strengths of the book
is that the suggestions here are not just hypothetical situations. In fact, the book itself is made of
a certain kind of polymer plastic and is also printed with nontoxic inks that can be easily washed
off, which makes the material made available to produce another book. The authors have also
worked on much bigger projects, such as the redesigning of the Ford facility in Michigan, based on
these kinds of principles. The book is not only positive but also specific on how to design and
manufacture things for

Regulating Hypertension
Regulating Hypertension Through and Activity and Exercise Intervention According to Ackley,
Ladwig, and Makic (2017), the nursing process is an organizing framework for professional
nursing practice, a critical thinking process for the nurse to use to give the best care possible to
the client (p. 2). This process is a series of steps with the intention of gathering information from
an individual to analyze if there is a problem within one s medical history. One way that a disease
entity can be found is by creating a genogram. For the purpose of this paper, the author created a
genogram and was able to determine a disease entity that was most prevalent in his or her family
medical history. The disease that was found to be the most significant was hypertensionbased on the
assessment of each family member and the author s strengths and risks. With the information that
was observed through the initial steps of the nursing process, the author will continue to use this
process to assess and diagnose the disease entity found within the family genogram to plan an
evidence based intervention with desired outcomes to fix the problem, to then... Show more content

Gordon s (2008) Functional Health Pattern will evaluate the health status and make judgment about
whether a problem or potential problem exists that requires nursing intervention. It also assesses the
status of a previously identified problem or condition in relation to projected outcomes. Lastly, it
identifies the strengths present in the situation, be it an individual, family, or community, that can
be used to help solve problems. (p. 1)
There are a couple health patterns that can be used to help control hypertension, but the functional
health pattern that will be addressed throughout the rest of the paper to help with the prevention of

The Painted Door Theme
1. When and where was the story written or told? What historical, social, or cultural background
might be needed to understand or explain what the story is about?
The story doesn t say the exact location, though by the farming description and the extremely
cold weather and culture, you could say that the story took place in the Prairies or the grasslands
in Canada or Northern USA. Also the time it took place in could be quite controversial. Because
the relationship between Ann and John are not exactly as loving as a modern marriage would be,
I would have to say that the marriage was probably arranged by their families. Arranged
marriages in low class or middle class families are not popular, and haven t been for a while, so that

The story shows a little bit about the thought difference between a Native man, and a White
women, or at least the difference between people who are more use to the environment than the
other. In history, we do not learn as much about life for lower class people in school, more middle
class to higher class, so this story was a useful insight into that. I believe this story kind of shows
the innocence and also the dark side of humans. Of their arrogance and wishfulness, this story
embodies many parts of being a human. With John s simple niceness, to Anns complex
unhappiness, to Stevens guilt free selfishness, this story shows many

The Dangers Of Credit Cards
Dangers of Credit
When you get a credit card you would feel as if spending
money is painless and easy. Using cash will cause you to
think because it would disappear for every, making it more
of a harder thing to do. Making credit cards easier to spend
money on causing people to go into debit.
How do people go into
debt ?
Credit card organizations don t just give people money
because they want to be nice. Those companies count
on people being forgetful or not responsible causing
them to be late or not being able to pay off their debit.
if you are late or it s just the matter that you don t have
enough money to pay it off that month, then you will
have to pay a fee. On top of that free their will be
interest. So then you will have to end up paying more
from what you actually owe. They do not care if you go
under a spiral of debit, it s just a game to them , and the
companies are the ones getting rich.
How can I prevent debt?
Since companies want people to fall
under debit. Try to not be that
person. Be that person who pays
their money they owe every month.
Don t buy food or things under 10
dollars with it. Create a budget ,
which shows you where and how much many you can spend.
Finally , when you are buying something with your credit
card ask yourself can I come up with that money soon,
What is Credit?
Basically credit is the amount of money someone such
as a lender will risk to help you get money. You aren t

Edward Hopper Nighthawks Essay
Often considered to be one of the most iconic pieces of American art, Nighthawks, a 84.1 x
152.4 cm oil on canvas, is a piece shrouded in feelings of solitude and separation. It was painted
by Edward Hopper in 1942, and was purchased by the Art Institute of Chicago almost immediately
afterwards. What made the painting so appealing to both the Art Institute and the general public
was for how deeply it connected with the culture at the time. Their feelings of tension and wartime
anxiety are ingrained into every part, from Hopper s relentless work ethic to the title of the canvas
itself. Nighthawks is a depiction of four people sitting in a diner called Phillies. The bright
fluorescent lighting instantaneously draws the viewer s eye to the... Show more content on

Why? To begin with, there is the matter of the title. According to Merriam Webster, a nighthawk is
someone who often awake late at night (Nighthawk); thus, the patrons at the diner are the
nighthawks. That in itself is not too strange, but the word choice is rather significant. As art
historian Gail Levin points out, the more innocuous night owls would have suggested a less
ominous mood (Levin, Edward Hopper: An Intimate Biography, 350). The two terms are
synonymous, so to decide on hawk over an owl is noteworthy. After all, a hawk is an aggressive
predator, so to use it in the title automatically creates a serious and sinister feeling that Nightowls
would not have. And what of the subject of the painting itself? Hopper once said that he had been
inspired to model the diner after an actual restaurant on Greenwich Avenue that he knew. When
pressed about the deeper meaning behind the work, he admitted that unconsciously, probably, I was
painting the loneliness of a large city (Levin, Edward Hopper: An Intimate Biography, 349). The
piece certainly emanates the sensation of being alone in a city, though there is much more going

Examples Of Grendel In Beowulf
Grendel is not a physical being, monster, or human, but a symbol of the darkness within man.
When Beowulf s men join the fight against Grendel, they soon realize that no blade on Earth, no
blacksmith s art, could ever damage their demon opponent (53). Grendel is incapable of being
completely destroyed, as even after he is defeated, his arm remains with the Danes. That swords,
even well crafted swords, cannot even damage Grendelis not a testament to his strength, but how
ingrained in society he is. Swords and physical weapons cannot destroy the maliciousness within
society, which Grendel represents. Being immune from anything but a fair hand to hand combat
shows that this inherent evil cannot be fought with artificial advantages, but inner... Show more

When Macbeth questions whether he should kill Duncan, Lady Macbeth attacks Macbeth
calling him a coward (16) and a poor cat (17). Unlike May in The Canterbury Tales , Lady
Macbeth does not use clever analogies to manipulate her husband, instead, Lady Macbeth bullies
Macbeth into going with the plan to assassinate King Duncan. Although women were still below
men as they were during the time period of The Canterbury Tales as defined by the Great Chain
of Being, Lady Macbeth acts like the head of the household instead of Macbeth. One of the
reasons for the inconsistency between the traditions of the time period and the play is that Lady
Macbeth, upon receiving the letter from Macbeth about his promotion to Thane of Cawdor asked
for spirits that tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here, and fill me from the crown to the toe, top
full of direst cruelty (12). By being unsex[ed] , she loses the identity given to her by society and
instead takes on the role as head of the Macbeth household and the equivalent of a man. With the
cruelty she gained, she manipulates and intimidates Macbeth into continuing on with each step of
the murder of King

The Fires Of Jubilee Summary
Oates, Stephen B. The Fires of Jubilee, New York: Harper Row, 1975
Stephen Oates, in a riveting storytelling fashion, captures the desires and anxieties of the early to
mid 19th century, with The Fires of Jubilee.
Oates has performed rigorous study to present an accurate portrayal of a fascinating and mysterious
man, who lived during an extraordinary period in
American history.
Oates begins the book with a thorough biography of Turner. He makes a real effort to show what
lead a man to commit the actions he did. Nat was born on October 17, 1800 in Southampton
County, Virginia. His mother
Nancy was brought to America in 1795. The man who purchased her was
Benjamin Turner, a wealthy tidewater planter. Nancy married a slave whose

Meanwhile Nat s lieutenants continued their attacks. Nat remained behind the entire time,
possibly planning what he would do next. In course of the whole rebellion he had only killed
one person; a young girl, who he beat with bare hands. By noon, the insurgents were heading
toward Jerusalem and confrontation. By now many of Nat s troops, about 40 strong, were to
drunk to fight or even ride their horses. Nat was furious with their lack of discipline but pressed
on anyway. The Virginia militia was ready with about 200 men to fight the rebels. When the two
forces meet on the road, Nat s force was crushed, and Nat along with 20 others retreated to a
nearby plantation. Nat was extremely tired and needed to sleep. Nat tried to enlist more slaves, but
to his shock they turned on him. Suddenly, all that remained of Nat s rebellion was Nat Turner
himself. Back in Jerusalem, all the captured insurgents were tried and hung. After six weeks, Nat
was still at large, with many reward hungry whites looking for him. On October 30 Nat was
walking through the woods when he heard something. He stuck his head out from behind a tree

Rhyme Scheme Of The Tyger By William Blake
William Blake was more than just a poet. He was an artist, a politician and a theologian. Blake
was born in 1757 and died in 1827, He was known for his artistic talent and political involvement.
Born in to a middle class family in London, Blake was one of 7 children born to his family, but
only 5 of them survived past infancy. Blake did not receive any formal schooling and mostly spent
his days wandering the streets of London (PoetryFdn.). When he was ten he was enrolled in art
school for multiple years and when he was 14 he became an apprentice engraver to James Basire
(Poetry Fdn.). His work as an engraver allowed him to make money and continue to hone his
artistic ability. Blakes artistry is clearly seen in most of his poems, whether its his early political
works such as America or his classic lyric poems like The Tyger. (Poetry Fdn.). In The Tyger
William Blake unconventionally questions the creation of the world through rhymescheme, deep
imagery, and conflicting ideas.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poem is a trochaic tetrameter meaning it consists of 8 syllables per line starting with a
stressed then unstressed syllable. The rhyming pattern of the poem is aabb, ccdd, eeff, gghh,
iijj, and then ending with a repeated aabb. The interesting thing about The Tyger is that it
contains a catalexis, which means that the last foot of every line is missing a syllable. Blake
uses the catalexis in The Tyger to stress certan images, such as In what distant deeps or skies.
/ Burnt the fire of thine eyes? (Lines 5 6). The readers are left with these vivid details that keep
the poem interesting. Another purpose of the catalexis is in keeping the poem abrupt. It gives the
poem a harsh almost aggressive tone, one that reflects the speaker s view of the tiger and the God
who made it. Blake uses the structure of the poem to fit the aggressive tone he writes

The Walking Dead Analysis
Love encompasses all.
Sometimes I wonder if you even care about us at all. As Rick explains to Shane the situation in
which Lori, his wife, made this comment to him in front of their son, Carl, in season one of The
Walking Dead, you can tell that this was something the stung and really hurt Rick inside. He goes
on to say that the difference between men and women is a man would never say something so
cruel. This may or may not be true, but the fact that he made this comment shows that there is
obvious resentment that he has for his wife, and shows that she may not trust him as the caregiver

The purpose of their trip was so they could bond, which wouldn t of needed to necessarily happen if
they were already close. Bonding is usually an action for people who have a connection to
strengthen that relationship and make it more meaningful to both parties. The situation that they
endure with the Zombies, however, bonds them much closer then a car ride. The defining scene
is when the two are on a boat in the middle of a lake catching fish for the group, as they learn
more about their relationship and their respective relationships with their father. After this
bonding, the dynamics between them change and they act much closer from thereon out. The
Zombies cut off this resurrection immediately, as a walker bites Amy and kills her. Andrea is
shocked and traumatized by this event, and decides to sit next to Amy for a long period of time.
As Amy wakes up as a walker, Andrea apologizes to her for not being there for her in an
emotional scene and puts a bullet in her brain (since she was a walker). Andrea making this
comment shows how close they became through the ordeal, and her actions and feelings that
proceed this event proves that. On the flip side to this example, Rick and Lori seem to grow
farther apart through the Apocalypse. There was obviously joy and appreciation between the
couple at the knowledge of Rick s survival settled in between the couple. As the season goes on,
though, there is a disconnect between Rick and Lori. The only scene

The Olympics Should Be Held At Boston
Are the Olympics beneficial to Cities? The Olympics show people that the greatest sporting
event in the world is so much more than just a game. The Olympics give people an opportunity
to meet others from different countries despite their cultural, political, and religious differences.
Also the Olympics give people the sense of unity and hope. Therefore, by hosting an event like
the Olympics, Boston has taken the right decision due to the multiple benefits will occur to the
city, the Olympics will contribute to the prosperity of the economy, bring a lot tourist, and
shows the beauty of Boston to the world. Therefore, the Olympics should be held in Boston.
Some people believe that hosting the Olympics in Boston is a huge responsibility for the city
because of many things. For example, it s a huge risk because the country will invest a lot of
money . So for some people the Olympics is, economically, not worthwhile in the slightest, and
the games are ridiculous expensive due to money that the government will spend for the
construction such as ; building stadiums, the construction of the infrastructure of the country to
cater the needs of the athletes or sportspeople. Also a lot of people think that Olympics will
affect the population of the Boston for about a month or two because if lots of people go, the city
will be very crowded which creates lots of traffic and disrupts the daily life of the citizens. Besides
that, some other people see that

Latin America. This new company had 112 miles of railroad, 212,394 acres of land, and a capital

Cuba, and increase additional acreage in Nicaragua, Jamaica, and Colombia (May and Plaza

Primarily, the first issue that arises is the fact that a company that was founded in the United States
dealing with military dictatorships in less advanced politically as well as economically countries
than themselves is undoubtedly a form of exploitation, but also manipulation as citizens of the
United States would not have been aware such a relationship existed between the United Fruit
company and Latin American military dictatorships. In addition to this, Frank Pearce (1976)
argues that corporations with the connivance of the American state act systematically to control
the markets in which they operate. Using the example of the United Fruit Company in
Guatemala from 1899 to 1944, we can see this to be accurate as by doing business with dictators,
United Fruit grew into el pulpo (the octopus) with a vast enterprise extending far beyond were it
extracted bananas (Dosal 2005, p.3).Linking in with this, it is often the case that whilst exploiting
a foreign populace the corporation is not acting on its own. The state can act as a facilitator for the
process of exploitation and profit over people. For example, the U.S Government bears
responsibility for United Fruit s enterprises as it encouraged the government of Guatemala to adopt
policies that would benefit American enterprise and the United Fruit Company (Dosal 2005, p.3).
Corporations and the state participate in criminality as a direct result of the nature and ethos of
capitalism. Despite the

Descriptive Essay On The Game Of Life

level of this game, the game of life. Drawing closer to the ever evident end, I m, in a way, forced

escape problems and get to the next stage, just like Pacman has to escape and conquer the
ghosts. Each dot puts Pacman closer to his goal, just as we ve consumed little dots of
knowledge, friendship, and love in these hallways. Two hundred forty four dots fill the Pacman
grid, and hundreds of grids are completed right here at Mercy every year. The support of the

The Election In The Election Of Liberia s Election
Liberia s 2017 election is set to be the first democratic transfer of power in decades (Pailey 2017).
The election came after Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, former president, was unable to run because of
constitutionally mandated term limits. The pool of candidates shrunk from over one thousand to
three top candidates recently, with the runoff election being postponed for the time being. The
three candidates to remain are George Weah, of Weah s Coalition for Democratic Change, Joseph
Boakai, Vice President, and Charles Brumskine of the Liberty Party. In the first vote, Weah
received 39 percent of the vote, Boakai 29 percent, and Brumskine 10 percent. Candidates need

Brumskine s party goals include creating jobs, investing in infrastructure, reconciling the
people, ensuring the rule of law, and fighting corruption (Liberty Party Liberia 2017). The issues
the people of Liberia are voting on are highly connected to the study of contemporary African
politics. A cornerstone of African politics is the history it is built on. The country of Liberia is
still impacted by past colonial rule, civil war, and poor governance. All of these are common for
countries in Africa. A second important African election comes in the country of Rwanda.
President Paul Kagame recently won a third, seven year term. He won with a 99 percent margin
of victory (Baddorf 2017). His opponent was Frank Habineza, of the Democratic Green Party.
Habineza placed importance in environmental protections and allowing freedom of expression (afp
2017). Kagame s platform, though sparse, vowed to strengthen the economy. Kagame s victory is

Female Athletes As Role Models For The Sports Industry
Female athletes do not get paid as much as they deserve for the work they execute for the sports
industry. Female athletes do so much for the sports industry that is not appreciated. They are good
role models for adolescent girls to be confident in themselves and to get involved in sports and
activities outside or at school. Femaleathletes also produce profit for the industry as well as earn
money from endorsements just as maleathletes do. Although people may state that female
athletes lack in many different factors, female athletes are good role models for their young
viewers, they are the driving force that generates most of the revenue for the teams federation,
and they portray the equal amount of work that the male athletes do and therefore, should
receive the same payment. Peer pressure and self esteem are two things girls are struggling with
in today s day and age, but female athletes encourage girls to get involved in sports in order to
clear up some stresses they might be having. Female athletes promote confidence and strength
which helps adolescent girls understand that these things are key to being a successful person in
life. Experts state that by the age of 12, girls are 6 times more likely to drop out of playing sports
than boys because girls do not receive as many positive reinforcements about their sports
participation as boys. Female athletes can improve and change the behavior of the girls so that
they will have confidence and feel like they want to

Advantages And Limitations Of Agile Software Development...
Agile software development methodology
Agile development is a term used in software development to describe incremental software
development methodologies. It is a type of incremental model because, in incremental model the
whole requirement is separated into many separated builds. Here, the software is developed in
incremental, rapid cycles resulting in small incremental releases with each release building on its
former functionality. Each release is critically tested to make sure that the software quality is
maintained.
The phrase agile refers to a software development methodology which promotes a project

The Roman Catholic Church s Influence And Governance Over...
This essay will identify and examine the significance of the Roman Catholic Church s influence and
governance over Europe throughout the Middle Ages. For the purposes of this essay, the Middle
Ages refers to the period between the Conversion of Constantine in 313CE and the onset of the
Renaissance Period during the early 14th century. In addition, this essay will examine and account
for change in the institution and theology of the Roman Catholic Church. It will identify the nature
and importance of continuity and the diversity of causes and outcomes of the Church s influence
through a range of historical perspectives. Since the conversion of Constantine in 313CE,
Christianity transformed from a persecuted, unorganized group of believers into a hierarchical,
European dominating institution over the course of the Middle Ages. Developing alongside the
changing political environment of post Roman Europe, the Roman Catholic Church became the
single most dominant institution in medieval life, its influence pervading almost every aspect of
people s lives. Catholicism influenced the calendar, significant events and rituals such as baptism,
confirmation, marriage and penance, and mainstream spiritual and ethical beliefs. Most people
were fully convinced of the validity of the church s teachings and believed that only the faithful
would avoid hell and gain eternal salvation in heaven. By the Norman Conquest of England in
1066CE, Christianity had conquered the totality of Europe.

Dance is an accessible and socially engaging physical form of activity that provides measurable
benefits in the aging population and adults with PD. Dance can provide specific external cues for
facilitating movement and task specific training such as turning around, walking backwards,
dynamic strength, endurance, balance and flexibility. The researchers searched controlled, peer
reviewed studies from scientific literature reporting the effects of dance interventions on measures
of physical function in older adults and those with PD. Twenty studies in older adults and seven
studies in PD were included in this research. The majority of dance research of PD was focused on
tango given it targets the PD specific impairments as in walking, turning, etc. Dance studies in older
adults included less of tango and more of the traditional folkloristic dance. These similarities and
differences between the two different populations can impact different motor function, inferring the
importance of developing a community based dance programs for seniors and for people with PD.

Causes Of Water Scarcity In China
Water scarcity in China Huy Nguyen 8M Introduction:
Many of cities in China are water stressed, with millions of Chinese in rural and urban areas
lacking clean, accessible water which is suppressing the growth of the Chinese economy and
general health. China s water problems are mainly caused by the wet and dry spatial distribution
between Southern and Northern China respectively, as well as wasteful usage of water and under
education in aqueous usage. However, this problem is being confronted with by NGO Lien Aid
which has helped build pipelines and taps for poorer areas of China.
Spatial Distribution China s main food source, rice, is largely grown in Northern China,
however, many of China s water supplies are located in the South with two of China s largest
rivers, the Yangtze and Huang He located there meaning there is insufficient water for crop in
Northern China. Due to Northern China being poorer, it has had to grow and export crop which
requires water, to the rich, wet South. With many provinces in Northern China such as Hebei and
Xinjiang exporting a large amount of water in crop despite having to dig 200m to find usable
water, this means that the already poor provinces which are unable to fix its water crisis have to also
export much of its clean water in crops to supplement income.
The west of China faces the Gobi desert meaning provinces such as Xinjiang and Hebei are
desperately stressed

Analysis Of The Book Malcolm Gladwell
When thinking of successful people you automatically think about how hard people have worked to
be successful. In the Outliers book Malcolm Gladwell argues that we should look at the world that
surrounds successful people. For instance their culture, family, experiences, and their upbringing.
Gladwell has made an interesting argument about how people become successful. In this paper, I
will be talking about how Bradley Byrne, US Representative for Alabamabecame successful using
some information from Gladwell s arguments.

this idea began to turn into serious doubt about whether the corporate business world was for me.
The only problem was that Bentley is known for its business programs; in fact, out of 24 majors...

ABSTRACT The recent study of metal matrix composite mainly deals with the aluminum based
composites with the reinforcement of particulates of silicon carbide and aluminum based
composites with the reinforcement of particulates of graphite which will be function as solid
lubricant. In this paper, two sets of composites has been prepared. One composite consists of
Aluminium with graphite and silicon carbide particles and the other composite consists of
Aluminium with alumina and Graphite. The composited has been prepared by stir casting method
and both the samples tested for the mechanical properties. The mechanical properties were
compared for both the composites and validated. The microstructure of the both composites were
examined using Scanning Electron microscope (SEM).
INTRODUCTION

Doing Business In China Summary
Prior to reading the Harvard Business Review on Doing Business in China, I assumed that
business was a universal thing around the world. I assumed that business was the same in all
countries. I assumed that every country had the same end goals when it came to business. As a
result, I assumed that all countries followed a similar template for how business negotiations work.
I was under the assumption that business was all about numbers and money; I didn t expect to see
so much energy focused on creating relationships. I originally assumed Chinawas a very strict and
numbers based country when it came to business. In my mind, China was this giant country where
everything is made and manufactured at a lower price. As a result, I assumed that... Show more

One of my favorite parts of this book was learning about how advertising differs in China. In
America, advertising is flashy. Many advertisements feature celebrities in hopes of gaining
consumers attention. Americans buy products they see celebrities using in hopes of becoming
more like the famous people they see using the products. This is very different from advertising
in China. In China, ads place a large focus on the facts. Product advertisements include the
features and specifications of a product. People in China want to know what the product is, how
it is used and how it works. There is less of an emphasis on trying to make a products look cool
instead the goal is to show the product and help it gain

Solitary Confinement Is A Form Of Imprisonment
Solitary confinement is a form of imprisonment in which an inmate is isolated from any human
contact, often with the exception of members of prison staff. Inmates are placed in isolation for
many reasons; as punishment, while they are under investigation, as a mechanism for behavior
modification, when suspected of gang involvement, or as retribution for political activism
(Crabapple Molly). To be in solitary confinement means being behind a solid steel door for 23 to
24 hours out of the day.
There are more than 80,000 prisoners in solitary confinement in prisons across the United States,
according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics. Prisoners are often confined for months or even years.
Some may spend more than 25 years in segregated prison settings ( Solitary confinement facts )
Being confined for such long periods of time tends to take a toll on a person s mental status.
Researchers have found little to suggest that extreme isolation is good for a person s psyche. In
one notorious study from the 1950s, University of Wisconsin psychologist Harry Harlow placed
rhesus monkeys inside a custom designed solitary chamber nicknamed the pit of despair. It was
Shaped like an inverted pyramid, the chamber had slippery sides that made climbing out
impossible. After a day or two, Harlow wrote, most subjects typically assume a hunched position in
a corner of the bottom of the apparatus. One might presume at this point that they find their
situation to be hopeless. Harlow also found

Communication Is The Greatest Asset Of Civilization
Communication is the greatest asset of civilization. It is through our ability to understand and
convey thoughts that we are able to cooperate for the good of our community, whether it be local
or global. Because communication holds so much power it must also be used with care. If used
unwisely, communication has the ability to destroy relationships and make cooperation impossible.
The six barriers of communication will be discussed in the following paragraphs and they are
clichГ©, jargon, slang, sexist and racist language, euphemisms, and doublespeak. ClichГ© is
what happens when a saying that once held great power has fallen into disuse. Due to repetition
all great sayings tend to lose their luster, just as a joke is hardly ever as funny as the first time it
was heard. One example of this is you ll catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. Though
there may be a valuable point here it is often lost because no one wants to catch flies and most
people are too caught up on the strangeness of the saying to truly consider the wisdom of its
message. Jargon is the language of academia or other groups that use vocabulary that is specific
to their particular area of expertise. The vast majority of the population are unfamiliar with this
range of vocabulary. Some people may try to use it in an attempt to sound more intelligent to lay
folk, though they will only manage to insult such an audience and possibly inspire hatred or
loathing. Medicine is a good example of where

A Groundbreaking Pilot And Inspirational Figure
A groundbreaking pilot and inspirational figure, Amelia Earhart became the first woman to fly

disappearance in 1937 during an attempt to revolve the globe devastated admirers across the
United States and around the world. Her public career lasted less than a decade starting at 1928 and
ending in 1937. She used her fame to promote two causes dear to her: the advancement of
commercial aviation and the advancement of women. Earhart symbolizes the fascination that
aviation held for Americans in the 1920s and 1930s. Aviator Amelia Earhart

later to be with her parents, who had reunited in California.
Women, like men, should try to do the impossible. And when they fail, their failure should be a
challenge to others. Earhart was legally declared dead in 1939. Earhart s entire life had a certain
restless quality. By 1928, she had found a calling of sorts as a social worker in Boston who flew
in her spare time. When New York publisher George Palmer Putnam asked if she wanted to be
the first woman to fly the Atlantic, she agreed. June of 1928 Amelia flew from Newfoundland to
Burry Port, Wales, made her an instant celebrity, although she was quick to note that she had
been merely a passenger, a sack of potatoes, who kept the log. When she flew solo in the Atlantic
during 1932, another first for women, she proved to the world and, more important, to herself that
1928 had not been an accident. Amelia did not have many supporters in the beginning, during this
time women were not believed to have a role as such a pilot like Amelia did. After midnight, the

How can Ricci protect her product design? 4.What are the pros and cons of the mail ordering
market strategy? What are the pros and cons of alternative distribution methods? The biggest
benefit that the mail order marketing strategy will yield to Ricci is that she gets to choose when
and where the Beach Carrier is offered for sale. With this feature she can choose who distributes
her product as well. The next big pro for the mail order strategy is that she will receive
immediate feedback on the effectiveness of the system. If after the first wave goes out there is a
lag in sales, she may need to think of a new method to market/sell her product. A major
disadvantage to the mail order system is that oftentimes a small picture in a catalog is not an
effective representation of the product itself and could turn people off to potentially purchasing the
Beach Carrier. Another con to this system is that Ricci may not be reaching enough of the target
consumers through her system. Her target demographic, women, would not necessarily be reached
by a Boating magazine. Also, advertising through a magazine is a very ineffective way to reach a

Adidas was founded in the early years of 1924, at that time it bared the name Gebruder Dassler
Schuhfabrik. Its founder was named Adolf Dassler he was a German by origin. The company
mainly dealt with the design and manufacture of sporting shoes, clothing and accessories. Adidas
is the largest company in Europe. It has companies under it, these companies are: Reebok,

uses social media for marketing purposes as every other big brand, company and small
entrepreneurs do. What brings the difference in how known Adidas is than other companies is
how they go about their social media marketing. Adidas seems to have done some a lot of
research on how and where to fetch their customers. An example is how they are excelling in
Facebook; Adidas has about 13 million fans. Using these platforms they give their fans
information about their products and an easy way to purchase any of their items. Adidas also
catches the eye of their followers on instagram by uploading graphics that attract their customers
to want to buy their products. These graphics are like shoes that have been well photographed and
edited, what else can a buyer look for; Adidas ensure all eyes are on them. Adidas has a department
that specifically deals with the social media details. The department is... Show more content on

Benefits Of Dissecting A Cat
1. Introduction: What is dissection? Dissection is the process of disassembling and observing
something to determine its internal structure and as an aid to discerning the functions and
relationships of its components (Dissection). The term is most often used concerning the dissection
of plants and animals, including humans. Comparative anatomy is the investigation of similitudes
and contrasts in the life structures of various species. It is firmly identified with transformative
science and phylogeny. Comparative anatomy has gradually and long been utilized as evidence for
evolution; it indicates that various organisms share a common ancestor. Dissection of cats in an
anatomy class is a common occurrence and believed to be a great learning mechanism for
students. Schools and education systems utilize the availability of a cat because they are
vertebrates and include a great amount of similarity in structures as humans, as students learn the
anatomy and physiology of the human body. Advantages of dissecting a cat include a sensory
factor that a visual study is unable to provide. A fact of being a human is that a great many people
recall things they can touch or work on accomplishing more than they recollect data that they
examined. By analyzing a creature in individual and touching it, the material encounters can give a
general, better learning background that may help them in future classes if science or medical
sciences will be examined. I hold the belief that the

Dynasty Of Ra Essay
Meta: You will have seen Ancient Egyptian themed slot games in the past, but you will have never
seen anything quite like Book of Ra before. Lush, lavish, and loaded with prizes, will you uncover
this game s gold laden goodies?
Dynasty of Ra Review
Ancient Egypt is perhaps one of the most defining time periods in history. A lot of human history
is tied to those days and as such it s always treated with respect. It s little wonder that there are a
lot of online slot machines that use the time period as a theme. Not all of them have succeeded of
course, but Dynasty of Ra, one of the latest games from Novomatic, certainly seems to have enough
within its digital walls to wow audiences. The game gives players intense online slots action, while

If you re interested in the Ancient Egyptian world, especially the pyramids, then you need to give
the game a go. The backdrop of the game is a pyramid, which really does finish up the wonderfully
handled theme. Novomatic really went above and beyond when they put Dynasty of Ra together,
as it s packed full of intense slot machine action that any online slots fan is bound to love. All
things considered, this is probably the best Ancient Egyptian themed online slots title around right
now, so make sure you look to check it out sooner rather than

Split The Movie Sociology
Split is the newest film from the writer and director, M. Night Shyamalan which his name
became a joke since he has created some disasters films mostly in the category of action and
blockbusters. However, with the 2015 s The Visit he has shown signals of his recreation of the
genre as well as a sign for his return to thrilling form. As this was my anticipated filmof the
moment, I was vastly surprised from this movie. At this point, we could agree that M. Night
Shyamalan has been returned and welcomed by other audiences in return form for thrillers. Not
only does this film succeeds his career in recent memory, but also creates an unexpected
supervillain origin story that is a form of a rarity these days.

However, with the film Split it breaks this stereotypes instantaneously. It may trick most
audiences as a straight up thrilling film, as three girls including Casey Cook (Anya Taylor Joy)
gets kidnapped by a man named Kevin (James Mcavoy). As it seems that the man has OCD and
perfectionism, as the days increases other unusually uncommon events occur as different
personalities or identities are expressed. Half way, the film reveals that the man named Kevin
has a rare psychological disease called Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) and has distinct 23
different personalities that live in Kevin one form body. First off, the film s entire premise and the
plot is very unusual and interesting as in cinema history, this range of ideas hasn t been thought
out. The film does handle this idea in a fascinating method and a classical method that does not
follow similar routines of modern day film storytelling. Also, it has a sense of fun as the film
essentially knows how to express these different identities and has fun playing around with them.
Most of all, James Mcavoy is

Asphalt Tips
Asphalt is a relatively durable product, which is why it is commonly used on roadways and
driveways. However, without proper maintenance it can give way to cracks or holes.
Fortunately, it is fairly easy to fix these issues as long as you address them quickly. So if you are
interested in fixing a crack or hole in your asphalt, use these three tips to ensure you get good
results: 1. Clean Well Before you do anything, make sure you thoroughly clean the asphalt. Any
loose bits of dirt and debris could ruin your asphalt patch, so clean it very well. Use a broom and
sweep the entire area of the crack of hole. Be sure to sweep the surrounding area as well.
Additionally, you might want to hose down the area to ensure it is clean and free of dirt

The Pit Of Human Depravity Essays
The holocaust was a catastrophic event that killed millions of innocent people and showed the
world how inhuman mankind can be. This dark period in world history demonstrated unmatched
violence and cruelty towards the Jewish race that led toward genocide. Genocide did not begin with
the Holocaust; nor was it a spontaneous event. Many warning signs within world events helped
provide Germanyand Adolf Hitler the foundation to carry out increasing levels of human depravity
(Mission Statement). These warning signs during the Holocaustinclude; Anti Semitism, Hitler
Youth, Racial profiling, the Ghettos, Lodz, Crystal Night, Pogroms, and Deportation. However,

This soon led to an increase of Jewish deportations to concentration camps where they would face
numerous hardships and cruelty; the majority of them were lucky if they lasted a month. The sum
of these events helps provide the foundation and road map to genocide during the holocaust. A
better understanding of the magnitude and complexity of genocide will come to light by
examining these events which served as warning signs that the world stood by and allowed to
happen. Most importantly, while many agree that genocide should never have happened to any
race, by breaking down genocide from its many elements and events, valuable knowledge and
understanding will result on how not to let it happen again.
To begin, Anti Semitism was a huge thing with an enormous impact on all of these events. Anti
Semitism was a pretty common phenomenon around the holocaust era, but it could have never
been made clearer how much dislike the Germans had for the Jews than by having the holocaust.
The holocaust was the most extreme method of showing contempt toward a person. The tragic
point is that they became convinced and determined they were doing all of Germany a favor by
getting rid of the Jews because they were just another flaw in the country; and Germans came to
believe that. In his first Anti Semitic writing of 1919, Hitler demonstrated this desire to rid
Germany of the Jews, The ultimate objective [of such legislation] must, however, be the
irrevocable removal of the Jews

Stop Animal Extinction
Have you heard that many animals today are going extinct because of people polluting the water,
air Also because they are hunting animals for their fur, skins, and horns. But with your hearing the
research I have conducted, I think you can also help stop animal extinction.I wanted to research this
because I like animals and I want to stop animalextinction. I have been reading and learning about
animals for my whole life . when I figured out that animal extinction meant animals are going to
not be existing anymore, I knew I had to research about animal extinction. Have you asked
yourself? What causes animal extinction? Well, what causes animal extinction is deforestation,
greenhouse gases, forest fires, and pollution. By burning fossil fuels, we are making hotter
temperatures, melting polar glaciers Globally, power generation is responsible for about 23 billion
tonnes of CO2 emissions per year Greenhouses gases, such as carbon dioxide, trap heat in the
atmosphere and regulate our climate. These gases exist naturally, but humans adding more
carbon dioxide by burning fossil fuels for energy (coal, oil, and natural gas) and by clearing
forests.Greenhouse gases act like a blanket. The thicker the blanket, the warmer our planet
becomes. At the same time, the Earth s oceans are also absorbing some of this extra carbon
dioxide, making them more acidic and less hospitable to sea life I think that animals cannot be
stopped but helped because animals are going to die and get

Go Back-Personal Narrative
I sat in the gondola speeding up the mountain. I could hear the buzzing and clicking of the
gondola. I was anxious. No, I was more than anxious, I was terrified. The gondola vibrated
putting me in a uncomfortable state. I heard people talking but it sounded like a constant buzz. I
could feel my heart beating through my chest. Thump..thump...thump. I knew it was time. The
gondola passed the final pole holding it up. I was just 20 feet away from were the gondola would
turn around. This was my last chance to go back. I heard a loud sound. I was jolted forward and
the gondola door opened. I stood up, only to notice my legs were jello. My whole body felt asleep.
I painfully staggered forward. As soon as the door opened, I felt a cold rush of... Show more content

I ripped my skis out of the rack and walked a few feet away. I put them on the ground and
cautiously stepped into the bindings. I pressed my left heel down into the binding. I felt the
boot secure itself. The I did the same with my right foot. I reached for my goggles, they were
dangling from the rear of my helmet. I grabbed the band and positioned it around my helmet. I
then pushed the goggle over my eyes and saw the blue tint in my face. I saw a sign that showed
the elevation as 4,865 ft. My heart dropped. I looked around and saw that all the trails were
black diamonds black. Ethan (my friend) pointed at a trail. I nodded in return. This was it, I
thought, I was going down one of the hardest black diamonds at whiteface. My fingers went
numb due to the unforgiving cold and wind. I slowly followed my Brendan. He was my brother.
We all slowly made our way to Devil s tail. Then I saw it, a giant decline. It looked like it was
miles down. We all looked at each other, then we went. Ethan and Brendan pushed themselves
forward and gained speed quick. I slid down right behind them. We all gained lots of speed for
the big drop. I curved to the right, I was next to the tree line. Then I spotted an ice patch, but it
was too late. I saw it happen, but I could not react in time. My skis slid out from under me, I slid
to the right, while my skis went left. My skis ended up in the middle of the trail, while I ended up
by the trees. I

Case Study P G Sk-Ii Product in Japan and East Asia
P amp;G Japan SK II Case Study
Up to 1984, P amp;G s Japanese operation was a failure due to the following reasons: 1. P amp;G
did not take the time to determine the local needs based on the culture and common practices
amongst the Japanese people. The product development was based on Western marketsand it was
assumed that it would streamline itself to other areas of the world. An example cited in this case
study was the use of tap water for laundry washes without implementing a range of temperatures.
The P amp;G detergent Cheer did not do well as it was based on different temperatures. 2.

P amp;G will need to keep up with technology and continue with new developments if they want
to remain a leader in the prestige market in Japan. In terms of short term profitability, the
Japanese market is unmatched. Cesare has forecasted an earnings growth potential of 200% in 6
or 7 years based off a $150 million sales level. However, the focus should be on the Chinese
market based on the long term potential for growth and profitability. All the other major market
players are already present in the market so P amp;G don t want to fall too behind with their
competitors. Although China has a relatively small subset of their population that can afford the
expensive SK II product, it also has the highest growth rate of skin care use at an astounding
28%. With China s economy and GDP growing at a fast rate, the potential for more able
consumers of the 1.2 billion residents is seemingly limitless. Following is the breakdown of the
pro s and con s of entering each market.
China| | Pro s| Con s| * Prestige beauty segment growing at 30 40% per year * Relatively high level
of facial cleansing product use in upper income tier * Cheap labor and marketing costs which will
improve profit margins * Already have a presence in the market with Olay products and can
implement the current market knowledge * Expected $10 15 mill sales in 3 years * Highest growth

Mel Gibson s Soliloquy Comparison
To be, or not to be is one of the greatest soliloquy William Shakespeare has ever wrote; and there s
many ways it was rehearsed. I watched 3 versions of this soliloquy, Kenneth Branagh s version,
Ethan Hawke s version and, Mel Gibson s version. They were all very different from each other and
unique in their own ways. I believe that Mel Gibson s performance of To be, or not to be was the
most effective and I will explain why.
Starting with Kenneth Branagh s version, his version was simple and straight to the point.
Branagh s version was less self reflective and more like he is talking to his hidden audience
(Claudius and Polonius). There wasn t much emotion to his soliloquy and it sounded much
rehearsed instead of laid back. But he does ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this version, they tried to make it a more medieval vibe. Gibson is dressed almost like a knight
Gibson is alone in a tomb reflecting on his thoughts. The tomb has low lighting, it s dark and he
is alone in that tomb. It was also very quiet. His voice echoes in the whole tomb so there was no
music needed because his voice is dramatic enough. In the tomb, there are a lot of bones and
crypt, and that can symbolize death later on in the play. In his soliloquy, it was at a flat (eye
level) angle with multiple camera shots. First, it was a long shot to show the audience where
Gibson was. Then, it was mostly close up shots but still shows Gibson pacing around the tomb.
That makes the audience know get a sense of his facial expressions. They also track him
sometimes when Gibson s walking around the tomb but usually lets the camera stay in one
place to show his whole body. While filming this, there was many short breaks to show the bones
and crypt as Gibson is talking to them they were cuts. Also at the end of his soliloquy, it went
faded into the next scene. This is my favorite out of all 3 because Gibson seems really consumed
with the soliloquy, you can see that because he pauses in between his lines and at the end, he puts
his end down in sorrow. I also like this version because they decided to film it in a tomb and
surround him by death, which means he is really is contemplating whether it s worth living or

We the people whom live in thee New England Colonies who were originally from Great Britain called Puritans and Pilgrims are more of the peaceful type of people whom worship God. We are people whom want to change the Church of England but saw no change, so we went to the The New England Colonies to get away from their religious persecution. We are not brutal people such as the people living in Georgia in the Southern Colonies and are not yet prepared to fight in a war. The people here came over to worship the way that pleased them. Then if we decide to trade for food with the Mid Atlantic Colonies or the Southern colonies, then we would have to wait for those shipments to come in, not having a bountiful supply on hand. We are not brutal men, for their daily life surrounds around the church and these people are not prepared. Economically, these people are ready and they make their own manufactured products and they are able to spread word easily and are always addressing problems. These people only need natural materials in order to make them so they would be able to be well supplied. Using the terrain would make so that the French fight uphill and they fight downhill. So even though there were many things that would help them through the war, their peaceful ways would prohibit them to be good fighters. I am asking you to help us in many ways if we go to war. • 4. Minisatellites Essay Minisatellites Along with the development of the PCR, a new type of polymorphism of DNA was discovered in the DNA structure known as hypervariable minisatellites. Large proportion of the eukaryotes genomes is consists of non coding DNA. Usually, this non coding region carries some regulatory elements such as promoters and enhancers but in many cases it also contains repetitive elements, e.g. multiple repeats (Turner et al., 1998). These repetitions include satellite DNA, which comprises thousands of tandem repeats in one site, as well as minisatellite and microsatellite DNA, depending on the number of repeats (Vanhala et al., 1998). These minisatellites are defined regions of DNA with polymorphisms in the number of repeated nucleotide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Typically they may be dinucleotides (AC)n, (AG)n, (AT)n; trinucleotides (TCT)n, (TTG)n; tetranucleotides (TATG)n and so on, where n is the number of repeating units within the microsatellite locus. In addition to occurring at many different loci, they can also be polyallelic (Selkoe and Toonen, 2006). They are repeated (usually 5 20 times) in the genome with a minimum repeat length of 12 base pairs (Goodfellow, 1992). Liu et al., 2001c profound that the best known examples of microsatellites within coding regions are those causing genetic diseases in humans, such as the CAG repeats that encode polyglutamine tract, resulting in mental retardation. Microsatellites tend to mutate with mutation rates of up to 10 2 per generation (Bruford and Wayne, 1993). Variation in the number of tandemly repeated units is mainly due to strand slippage during DNA replication where the repeats allow matching via excision or addition of repeats (Schlotterer and Tautz, 1992). As slippage in replication is more likely than point mutations, microsatellite loci tend to be hypervariable. Microsatellite assays show extensive inter individual length polymorphisms during PCR analysis of unique loci using discriminatory primers sets. Microsatellites are inherited in a Mendelian fashion as codominant markers (Schlotterer, 2004). This is strength of microsatellite markers in addition to their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Designers and Manufacturers Should Rethink and Redesign... This is a book by two researchers who are trying to find ways to build and make things that are friendlier to the environment. Their approach is very different from the usual ecological approach, which, as put by McDonough and Braungart, is to be less bad. The regular approach has normally been to just reduce the amount of toxins in a product, or trying to collect and recycle goods, or adding expensive and bulky fixes to already existing systems. But not in this book; the authors idea is that designers and manufacturers should instead try to rethink and redesign the materials that they make with their end uses in mind. By using nontoxic materials that can also easily break down into quality materials, this creates byproducts that can be reused to manufacture quality items. The authors also recommend the planning of buildings and industrial complexes to use the environment that surrounds them for things like heating, cooling, and design. One of the strengths of the book is that the suggestions here are not just hypothetical situations. In fact, the book itself is made of a certain kind of polymer plastic and is also printed with nontoxic inks that can be easily washed off, which makes the material made available to produce another book. The authors have also worked on much bigger projects, such as the redesigning of the Ford facility in Michigan, based on these kinds of principles. The book is not only positive but also specific on how to design and manufacture things for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Regulating Hypertension Regulating Hypertension Through and Activity and Exercise Intervention According to Ackley, Ladwig, and Makic (2017), the nursing process is an organizing framework for professional nursing practice, a critical thinking process for the nurse to use to give the best care possible to the client (p. 2). This process is a series of steps with the intention of gathering information from an individual to analyze if there is a problem within one s medical history. One way that a disease entity can be found is by creating a genogram. For the purpose of this paper, the author created a genogram and was able to determine a disease entity that was most prevalent in his or her family medical history. The disease that was found to be the most significant was hypertensionbased on the assessment of each family member and the author s strengths and risks. • 10. Edward Hopper Nighthawks Essay Often considered to be one of the most iconic pieces of American art, Nighthawks, a 84.1 x 152.4 cm oil on canvas, is a piece shrouded in feelings of solitude and separation. It was painted by Edward Hopper in 1942, and was purchased by the Art Institute of Chicago almost immediately afterwards. What made the painting so appealing to both the Art Institute and the general public was for how deeply it connected with the culture at the time. Their feelings of tension and wartime anxiety are ingrained into every part, from Hopper s relentless work ethic to the title of the canvas itself. Nighthawks is a depiction of four people sitting in a diner called Phillies. The bright fluorescent lighting instantaneously draws the viewer s eye to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why? To begin with, there is the matter of the title. According to Merriam Webster, a nighthawk is someone who often awake late at night (Nighthawk); thus, the patrons at the diner are the nighthawks. That in itself is not too strange, but the word choice is rather significant. As art historian Gail Levin points out, the more innocuous night owls would have suggested a less ominous mood (Levin, Edward Hopper: An Intimate Biography, 350). The two terms are synonymous, so to decide on hawk over an owl is noteworthy. After all, a hawk is an aggressive predator, so to use it in the title automatically creates a serious and sinister feeling that Nightowls would not have. And what of the subject of the painting itself? Hopper once said that he had been inspired to model the diner after an actual restaurant on Greenwich Avenue that he knew. When pressed about the deeper meaning behind the work, he admitted that unconsciously, probably, I was painting the loneliness of a large city (Levin, Edward Hopper: An Intimate Biography, 349). The piece certainly emanates the sensation of being alone in a city, though there is much more going within the deeper context of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When Beowulf s men join the fight against Grendel, they soon realize that no blade on Earth, no blacksmith s art, could ever damage their demon opponent (53). Grendel is incapable of being completely destroyed, as even after he is defeated, his arm remains with the Danes. That swords, even well crafted swords, cannot even damage Grendelis not a testament to his strength, but how ingrained in society he is. Swords and physical weapons cannot destroy the maliciousness within society, which Grendel represents. Although women were still below men as they were during the time period of The Canterbury Tales as defined by the Great Chain of Being, Lady Macbeth acts like the head of the household instead of Macbeth. One of the reasons for the inconsistency between the traditions of the time period and the play is that Lady Macbeth, upon receiving the letter from Macbeth about his promotion to Thane of Cawdor asked for spirits that tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here, and fill me from the crown to the toe, top full of direst cruelty (12). In addition to this, Frank Pearce (1976) argues that corporations with the connivance of the American state act systematically to control the markets in which they operate. Using the example of the United Fruit Company in Guatemala from 1899 to 1944, we can see this to be accurate as by doing business with dictators, United Fruit grew into el pulpo (the octopus) with a vast enterprise extending far beyond were it extracted bananas (Dosal 2005, p.3).Linking in with this, it is often the case that whilst exploiting a foreign populace the corporation is not acting on its own. The state can act as a facilitator for the process of exploitation and profit over people. For example, the U.S Government bears responsibility for United Fruit s enterprises as it encouraged the government of Guatemala to adopt policies that would benefit American enterprise and the United Fruit Company (Dosal 2005, p.3). Experts state that by the age of 12, girls are 6 times more likely to drop out of playing sports than boys because girls do not receive as many positive reinforcements about their sports participation as boys. This essay will identify and examine the significance of the Roman Catholic Church s influence and governance over Europe throughout the Middle Ages. For the purposes of this essay, the Middle Ages refers to the period between the Conversion of Constantine in 313CE and the onset of the Renaissance Period during the early 14th century. In addition, this essay will examine and account for change in the institution and theology of the Roman Catholic Church. It will identify the nature and importance of continuity and the diversity of causes and outcomes of the Church s influence through a range of historical perspectives. Since the conversion of Constantine in 313CE, Christianity transformed from a persecuted, unorganized group of believers into a hierarchical, European dominating institution over the course of the Middle Ages. Developing alongside the changing political environment of post Roman Europe, the Roman Catholic Church became the single most dominant institution in medieval life, its influence pervading almost every aspect of people s lives. Catholicism influenced the calendar, significant events and rituals such as baptism, confirmation, marriage and penance, and mainstream spiritual and ethical beliefs. Most people were fully convinced of the validity of the church s teachings and believed that only the faithful would avoid hell and gain eternal salvation in heaven. By the Norman Conquest of England in 1066CE, Christianity had conquered the totality of Europe. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Causes Of Water Scarcity In China Water scarcity in China Huy Nguyen 8M Introduction: Many of cities in China are water stressed, with millions of Chinese in rural and urban areas lacking clean, accessible water which is suppressing the growth of the Chinese economy and general health. China s water problems are mainly caused by the wet and dry spatial distribution between Southern and Northern China respectively, as well as wasteful usage of water and under education in aqueous usage. However, this problem is being confronted with by NGO Lien Aid which has helped build pipelines and taps for poorer areas of China. Spatial Distribution China s main food source, rice, is largely grown in Northern China, however, many of China s water supplies are located in the South with two of China s largest rivers, the Yangtze and Huang He located there meaning there is insufficient water for crop in Northern China. Due to Northern China being poorer, it has had to grow and export crop which requires water, to the rich, wet South. With many provinces in Northern China such as Hebei and Xinjiang exporting a large amount of water in crop despite having to dig 200m to find usable water, this means that the already poor provinces which are unable to fix its water crisis have to also export much of its clean water in crops to supplement income. Solitary Confinement Is A Form Of Imprisonment Solitary confinement is a form of imprisonment in which an inmate is isolated from any human contact, often with the exception of members of prison staff. Inmates are placed in isolation for many reasons; as punishment, while they are under investigation, as a mechanism for behavior modification, when suspected of gang involvement, or as retribution for political activism (Crabapple Molly). To be in solitary confinement means being behind a solid steel door for 23 to 24 hours out of the day. It is through our ability to understand and convey thoughts that we are able to cooperate for the good of our community, whether it be local or global. Because communication holds so much power it must also be used with care. If used unwisely, communication has the ability to destroy relationships and make cooperation impossible. The six barriers of communication will be discussed in the following paragraphs and they are clichГ©, jargon, slang, sexist and racist language, euphemisms, and doublespeak. ClichГ© is what happens when a saying that once held great power has fallen into disuse. Due to repetition all great sayings tend to lose their luster, just as a joke is hardly ever as funny as the first time it was heard. One example of this is you ll catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. Though there may be a valuable point here it is often lost because no one wants to catch flies and most people are too caught up on the strangeness of the saying to truly consider the wisdom of its message. Jargon is the language of academia or other groups that use vocabulary that is specific to their particular area of expertise. The vast majority of the population are unfamiliar with this range of vocabulary. Schools and education systems utilize the availability of a cat because they are vertebrates and include a great amount of similarity in structures as humans, as students learn the anatomy and physiology of the human body. Advantages of dissecting a cat include a sensory factor that a visual study is unable to provide. A fact of being a human is that a great many people recall things they can touch or work on accomplishing more than they recollect data that they examined. By analyzing a creature in individual and touching it, the material encounters can give a general, better learning background that may help them in future classes if science or medical sciences will be examined. I hold the belief that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This dark period in world history demonstrated unmatched violence and cruelty towards the Jewish race that led toward genocide. Genocide did not begin with the Holocaust; nor was it a spontaneous event. Many warning signs within world events helped provide Germanyand Adolf Hitler the foundation to carry out increasing levels of human depravity (Mission Statement). This soon led to an increase of Jewish deportations to concentration camps where they would face numerous hardships and cruelty; the majority of them were lucky if they lasted a month. The sum of these events helps provide the foundation and road map to genocide during the holocaust. A better understanding of the magnitude and complexity of genocide will come to light by examining these events which served as warning signs that the world stood by and allowed to happen. Most importantly, while many agree that genocide should never have happened to any race, by breaking down genocide from its many elements and events, valuable knowledge and understanding will result on how not to let it happen again. To begin, Anti Semitism was a huge thing with an enormous impact on all of these events. Anti Semitism was a pretty common phenomenon around the holocaust era, but it could have never been made clearer how much dislike the Germans had for the Jews than by having the holocaust. The holocaust was the most extreme method of showing contempt toward a person. The tragic point is that they became convinced and determined they were doing all of Germany a favor by getting rid of the Jews because they were just another flaw in the country; and Germans came to believe that. In his first Anti Semitic writing of 1919, Hitler demonstrated this desire to rid Germany of the Jews, The ultimate objective [of such legislation] must, however, be the irrevocable removal of the Jews ... I have been reading and learning about animals for my whole life . when I figured out that animal extinction meant animals are going to not be existing anymore, I knew I had to research about animal extinction. Have you asked yourself? What causes animal extinction? Well, what causes animal extinction is deforestation, greenhouse gases, forest fires, and pollution. By burning fossil fuels, we are making hotter temperatures, melting polar glaciers Globally, power generation is responsible for about 23 billion tonnes of CO2 emissions per year Greenhouses gases, such as carbon dioxide, trap heat in the atmosphere and regulate our climate. These gases exist naturally, but humans adding more carbon dioxide by burning fossil fuels for energy (coal, oil, and natural gas) and by clearing forests.Greenhouse gases act like a blanket. The thicker the blanket, the warmer our planet becomes. At the same time, the Earth s oceans are also absorbing some of this extra carbon dioxide, making them more acidic and less hospitable to sea life I think that animals cannot be stopped but helped because animals are going to die and get ... • 53. Mel Gibson s Soliloquy Comparison To be, or not to be is one of the greatest soliloquy William Shakespeare has ever wrote; and there s many ways it was rehearsed. I watched 3 versions of this soliloquy, Kenneth Branagh s version, Ethan Hawke s version and, Mel Gibson s version. They were all very different from each other and unique in their own ways. I believe that Mel Gibson s performance of To be, or not to be was the most effective and I will explain why. Starting with Kenneth Branagh s version, his version was simple and straight to the point. Branagh s version was less self reflective and more like he is talking to his hidden audience (Claudius and Polonius). There wasn t much emotion to his soliloquy and it sounded much rehearsed instead of laid back. But he does ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this version, they tried to make it a more medieval vibe. Gibson is dressed almost like a knight Gibson is alone in a tomb reflecting on his thoughts. The tomb has low lighting, it s dark and he is alone in that tomb. It was also very quiet. His voice echoes in the whole tomb so there was no music needed because his voice is dramatic enough. In the tomb, there are a lot of bones and crypt, and that can symbolize death later on in the play. In his soliloquy, it was at a flat (eye level) angle with multiple camera shots. First, it was a long shot to show the audience where Gibson was. Then, it was mostly close up shots but still shows Gibson pacing around the tomb. That makes the audience know get a sense of his facial expressions. They also track him sometimes when Gibson s walking around the tomb but usually lets the camera stay in one place to show his whole body. While filming this, there was many short breaks to show the bones and crypt as Gibson is talking to them they were cuts. Also at the end of his soliloquy, it went faded into the next scene. This is my favorite out of all 3 because Gibson seems really consumed with the soliloquy, you can see that because he pauses in between his lines and at the end, he puts his end down in sorrow. I also like this version because they decided to film it in a tomb and surround him by death, which means he is really is contemplating whether it s worth living or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
