Van Gogh And Gauguin
The discussion that took place during week three focused broadly on comparing the differences in
vision, personality and ideas of the primitive between Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Gauguin. These
differences were investigated through their working relationship, as shown by their letters of
correspondence, and the art each artist produced during this time. The group discussed comparisons
between Van Gogh s plan and almost obsession with making the Studio of the South work and
Gauguin s wanderlust that kept him moving. The ideal studio of both Gauguin and Van Gogh
opened up discussion further to what aspects of the primitive each painter was influenced by in
their attempted creation of a utopian working space. The readings from Childs and the... Show more

A Discussion again focused on comparing the two saying how the preference of Brittany versus
Arles says much about how their creative process differed. Gauguin s rarely depicts his subject
matter with descriptive accuracy instead he takes a place and abstracts the savage and primitive
quality that he is searching for. Brittany offers Gauguin not only a rocky savagery in its
landscape but allows him to abstract a medieval primitivism from the people in the area due to
their Catholic devotion and less modern lifestyle. In his letter to Gauguin in September 1888,
Gauguin describes the figures in Vision After the Sermon, as him achieving a great rustic and
superstitious simplicity saying that the people are less civilized due to their Catholic devotion,
and thus more spiritual. Arles offered Van Gogh a calm sunny place in nature that can act as a
monastery for him. A quote by Childs was brought up that, Arles was caught somewhere between a
French agrarian village and a modern city This caused issue for Gauguin who didn t want any of
that modernity, as shown by him often leaving out signs of civilization in his tropical landscapes.
While Van Gogh does feature aspects of modernity in his painting later

Coming Of Age In Persepolis
Marjane Satrapi claims that her story is about the coming of age, not for either gender, but for all
humans. However, after reading the book, one might argue that it truly is a woman coming of age
story and not for all humans. One might even go as far to say that she is a little defensive in this
interview, further hinting that feminism is a very important value for Marjane. It is human nature
to do what is best for oneself. It is human nature to protect the rights of one s own kind. It is
Marjane s human nature to tell her story with hopes of achieving equal rights for all women. In
Persepolis, Marjane Satrapis true purpose for telling her story is not to show the coming of age for
all Iranian s; her true purpose for telling her story is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout her story, Marjane mentions many instances where women are objectified,
sometimes in an extremely vulgar way. One of these instances takes place when her mother,
Marji, is on the side of the road after her car breaks down and two fundamentalist men approach
her; They insulted me. They said that women like me should be pushed up against a wall and
fucked and then thrown in the garbage (74). All because Marji was not wearing a veil. One
might also say that these men are particularly vulgar, and give off a very disgusting vibe, but
nonetheless it is a loss for females everywhere. According to these terrible men, all they are good
for is sex. Then they are useless. A little less grotesque instance of objectification is when the
Satrapis maid talks about her son experiencing martyrdom propaganda at his school, where his
teachers ... told him that in paradise there will be plenty of food, women, and houses made of gold
and diamonds (100). It is awful that women are even in the same category as food and houses, but
it shows how they are objectified even in the education

The Basic Building Block Of Carbohydrates
POLYMER SCIENCE
[Document subtitle]
History of Carbohydrates
Carbohydrates are one of the macronutrients used in our diet and also protein carbohydrate
interactions are an essential component of cellular structure and function. Vegetables, food grains,
fruits, many other dairy products naturally contain carbohydrates in various amounts. The basic
building block of carbohydrates is a simple combination of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen. Any
compound containing these three elements and having twice as many hydrogen atoms as carbon
and oxygen are the chemical definition of the carbohydrates.
Carbohydrates are called as the natural polymers. Natural polymers occur in the nature and they
can be extracted. They are water based. Some examples of natural polymers are DNA cellulose
and proteins. There is also another type of the polymers called as synthetic polymers those which
are derived from the petroleum oils and they are made by the engineers. Some examples of the
synthetic polymers are nylon, Teflon, polyester.
Humans when evolved used to eat only fruits and tubers year around. Fruits and tubers are consisted
of safe starches and every one can consume them regularly and they become excellent part of their
life s. Then humans started to hunt animals for food. Many scientists believe that when humans
started eating meat those which are high suppliers of the carbohydrates human s brains become big.
And then in 10,000 B.C agricultural revolution has begun in places like middle

Second Industrial Revolution Essay
An Industrial Revolution is the change in social and economic organization that resulted from the
replacement of the hand tools with machines and from the development of large scale industrial
production (Danzer R50). The Second Industrial Revolution happened nearly one hundred years
later after the First Industrial Revolutionin England during the 1760s (Fagnilli 7). The Second
Industrial Revolution was the cause of new inventions, government support for business, common
natural resources, and increasing population (Fagnilli 7). The Industrial Revolution in the United
States had impact on the economy, cities, workers, and environment (Fagnilli 7). The Second

During the Second Industrial Revolution the work conditions in the big factories was very poor.
In the dangerous factories there were over two thousand deaths and twenty thousand injuries per
year (Fagnilli 7). The majority of the workers in the poor work conditioned factories were
immigrants (Fagnilli 7). In the Central Pacific, factories workers were mostly immigrants of
Chinese or Hispanic descent (Fagnilli 7). In the Union Pacific, factories workers were mostly
Irish, African American, or Civil War Veterans (Fagnilli 7). The Chinese workers that worked in
the west made around thirty dollars per month (Fagnilli 7). The average white worker would make
around forty to sixty dollars per month with meals includes (Fagnilli 7). The factory owners would
discriminate against people by their race. The conditions inside the factories were horrible, they
called them sweatshops. A sweatshop is a shop or factory in which employees work for long
hours at low wages and under unhealthy conditions (Merriam Webster). The poor work conditions
and low wages in the workplace is what caused many strikes throughout the nation, leading to
union s. In the Second Industrial Revolution there was a great deal of work being done but the
workers had to go through poor work conditions to be able to have a meal on the table for there
family. In the 1860s through the 1900s, the working person was greatly impacted by the Second
Industrial Revolution.

Study Of The Airline Industry Resilience And The Terrorist...
Finally, Company Size, Industry, Company Ownership, Organizational Design (Czinkota et al.,
2010), and Firm Age are introduced in the model to control for factors beyond relationships that
could influence the dependent variable of performance resilience. Data Analysis The research
method relies upon the general methodological framework used by Gittell et al. (2006) in the study
of the airlines industry resilience to the terrorist attacks of 9/11. This exploratory archival data
analysis employs quantitative statistical techniques from the terrorism and international business
literature stream. Initially, correlation analysis between the operationalized independent variables,
moderating variables, control variables and the dependent variable will be conducted, using
Pearson Correlation Coefficients as a measure, to identify and evaluate non causal associations and
strengths of relationships between variables. In addition, scatterplots would be created of the
variables to determine whether linear relationships exist. An analysis of variance (ANOVA) would
be used as the general structure for statistical testing of the conceptual model, shown in Figure 4,
using the F test. Moreover, the F test would be an initial overall inference test of the
operationalized conceptual model. Furthermore, collinearity diagnostics tests for multi collinearity
on the independent and moderating variables will be performed using Variance Inflation Factors as
a gauge to assess any overlap or

The Era Of Madness And Confinement
The Era of Madness and Confinement The 1950s was an era of civil conflict for the United States.
Although it the post World War II era and the United States was the world s strongest military, there
was a war going on within its own society. (Ginsberg, 1) This generation dealt with civil rights
movements and communism at the home. ( The 1950s ) But with all the pressure of all that is
going on around this how did this generation turn out? It was during this time that author Allen
Ginsbergwrote his poem Howl, which was broken up into three parts. In his poem Howl, Allen

simply takes short pauses in between each line. It gives off the impression that Ginsberg is so
passionate in what he is talking about that he does not need to stop until he has said his whole
piece. Part one also uses obscene language, which includes words such as sex, f**king, semen, and

The Effects Of Climate Change And Variability Essay
Abstract
Climate change and variability poses a major challenge to current and future productivity of
major crops. During the last century, there has been a rapid increase in various greenhouse gas
emissions, leading to warmer temperatures, drought stress, and increased exposure to ultraviolet
B radiation. At the present rate of population increase and green house gas emissions it is
predicted that future climate will be warmer and drier, and there will be more occurrences of
short episodes of extreme events of various stresses. Crops often exposed to short episodes of
various abiotic stresses or its combination during its critical period of growth stages can limit its
yield potential. Understanding of impact of climate change drivers and climate variability will be
critical in developing crop management strategies to combat negative effect of climate change and
variability. This review provides an overview of the influences of elevated carbon dioxide, high
temperature stress, drought stress, elevated UV B radiation and their interaction on various
physiological, growth and yield processes of various crops. Elevated carbon dioxide will
increase crop yield in C3 plants under optimum growth conditions. However, under high
temperature, drought and UV B stress conditions there will be very limited or no benefits of
elevated CO2 on grain yield. It is predicted that global mean surface air temperatures will increase
in the range of 1.5 to 4.5В°C by end of this century. Similarly,

The Unemployment Rate Of The United States Essay
Unemployment rates were essentially higher in August in 6 states, lower in 3 states, and stable in
41 states and the District of Columbia, the U.S. Authority of Labor Statistics reported today. Ten
states had eminent jobless rate diminishes from a year prior, 5 states had increments, and 35 states
and the District had no noteworthy change. The national unemployment rate stayed at 4.9 percent
in August and was minimal not quite the same as that of August 2015.
Nonfarm finance work expanded in 4 states and the District of Columbia in August 2016,
diminished in 3 states, and was basically unaltered in 43 states. Throughout the year, 35 states
included calculable quantities of nonfarm finance employments, North Dakota and Wyoming lost
occupations, and 13 states and the District were basically unaltered.
Territorial Unemployment
In August, two locales had unemployment rates fundamentally not quite the same as the U.S. rate
of 4.9 percent: The Midwest, at 4.5 percent, and West, at 5.3 percent. Throughout the month, no
area had a measurably critical unemployment rate change. Noteworthy throughout the year rate
diminishes happened in two areas: The South ( 0.5 rate point) and West ( 0.3 point). Among the
nine geographic divisions, the West North Central had the most minimal unemployment rate,
4.1percent in August, trailed by New England, 4.2 percent, and the South Atlantic, 4.5 percent.
The Pacific had the most astounding rate, 5.4 percent. Throughout the month, the West

A Synopsis Of Othello
Synopsis
William Shakespeare s book, Othello, is a tragedy written in the year 1603, based on the story, A
Moorish Capital. It revolves around four main characters, Othello, his wife Desdemona, Cassio
who is a Lieutenant and Othello s most trusted, and Iago, who is Othello s ensign, Most of the
action in the play takes place on the island of Cyprus. The themes covered include love, racism,
revenge, betrayal, jealousy and envy, and repentance. The book Othello is a tragedy since it attains
the standards put by Aristotle when defining the word tragedy. The writer uses drama to talk
about the fall of an individual who was once in a higher place. This fall could either be due to
internal or external forces. It is a tragedy that explains what happens ... Show more content on

The demand of 3D films has continually increased over the past decade. The revenues of these
3D films have always been on a rise, which is an indication that more people are watching
movies in theatres. Reimagining Shakespeare s Othello as a 3D movie can also help to reboot
the story, especially among young people. The director of the movie can add or change some
aspects of the story that may not be appealing to the audience, and introduce new scenes to take
advantage of the 3D technology, and also to make the movie more interesting. 3D is best
enjoyed with scenes involving a lot of action, the director can therefore capitalize on the violence
that exists in the story, which is caused by jealousy and need for revenge. For instance, to add
some aspects of action in the movie, the director can introduce fights and other types of violence,
to make it thrilling and interesting at the same time. Individuals who already know the story and
the characters would also be curious to see Othello as a 3D movie. As Shakespeare s stories are
famous and widely known, the production of the movie would create some buzz, attracting new
audience at the same

to sell more of those same things for different people. In this option the Raju Omelet can target a
new area rather than Al krama area to reach to different people in Dubai.
Market penetration in the lower left quadrant, is the safest of the four options. Here you focus on
expanding sales of its existing products for existing market: you know that the product works, and
the market some surprises for you remains (Tony,2000,P239).. With this approach, it is to sell
more of the same in the same market and Raju Omelet can sell more things which are made by

Product development, in the lower right quadrant, is a little more risky, because a new product is
introduced in the existing market (Tony,2000,P241). Here, you sell different products to the same
people. Here Raju Omelet can extend their product by producing different variants, or repackage

Repetitive thoughts, desires, or impulses that are unwelcome and provide anxiety or distress are
considered an obsession. While repetitive unwanted behaviors are a compulsion. Together these two
words are contributing factors that make up Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. The American
Psychiatric Association constitutes OCD as an anxiety disorder in which people have recurring,
unwanted thoughts, ideas or sensations (obsessions) that make them feel driven to do something
repetitively (compulsions) (Dougherty, Wilhelm, Jenike, 2014, p. 432).

Likelihood TAF and Moral TAF generate a cohesive connection between thought and action
(Thompson Hollands, Farchione, Barlow, 2013, p. 408).
In most cases OCD is treated through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, exposure and response
prevention, and/or with the use of medications. Exposure is repeatedly exposing the subject to a
trigger of obsession. If a person is afraid of getting sick, they would expose themselves by sitting in
a hospital. Response prevention is asking the patient to refuse contributing to their compulsive
behavior. The behavior they perform is to reduce rising anxiety levels, but while participating in
ERP the patient will experience levels of anxiety while facing the fear. In the hospital situation, the
patient would have to refuse leaving or excessive handwashing. Since OCD habits are usually
created out of anxiety or distress the use of anti anxiety medications are commonly used to suppress
anxiety. Without the anxiety, the need for a compulsive behavior is not as strong. Cognitive
treatment was formed to redirect misrepresented cognitions that might persist having not been
considered or dealt with while under behavioral treatment (Whittal, Thordarson, McLean, 2004, p.
1560). Undergoing cognitive treatment is an alternative to ERP as anxiety levels are lower with
less trigger provoking methods. To compare Cognitive Behavioral Therapyagainst Exposure

You have introduced yourself and have addressed the other aspects of the beginning phase of

Mr. K. s concern relates in some way to the divorce. Therefore, you want to encourage him to

this particular question and anticipate how Mr. K. might respond.

Slavery During The Twentieth Century
Jeremy Black has recently stated slavery played a major role in the twentieth century. The twentieth
century, he argues, witnessed a highpoint in slavery as it rose to a new peak. He defines slavery as
being public which differs from the conventional account of enslavement, economic exploitation
and racism. For Black, the conventional account of slaveryhas been easier to define and confront.
This dissertation through the work of three authors: Buchi Emecheta, Ayi Kwei Armah and Tayeb
Salih aims to act as a corrective to approaches similar to Black s theory, that slavery has been easily
defined, by demonstrating the tension between remembering and forgetting history. The twentieth
century narratives trace the history of the Atlantic slave tradethrough contemporary Africa,
reflecting the role of slavery in present day. The works unearth remnants of the past in order to
locate African memories in literature and bring them forth from the margins of history. Each author
originates from different geographical locations in Africa, which allows various forms of slavery to
emerge in the narratives, representing slavery as continuing to haunt the African psyche.
In tracing transatlantic slave trade literature, Achille Mbembe states, there is, properly speaking no
African memory presenting the void of African voices in the history of the slave trade. The
memories depicted in literature are as Paul Connerton claims remembered by those in power
demonstrating the

Second, consultants said that no Chinese would ever lose face by drinking from a cup in the
street since the Chinese preferred not to eat or drink in public. Starbucks no smoking policy came
out of its desire for nothing cologne, perfume, nor tobacco smoke to interfere with the smell of
their dark roasted beans. Upon entering Asia, Starbucks stuck with its no smoking policy, which
according to interviews turns out to be a welcomed policy. Even the smokers claimed not to have a

Although the Chinese dislike drinking in public, the high awareness of the brand and the Chinese
market being so brand driven outweighs this habit. The Chinese consumers perceived the high
prices as conveying quality and sophistication. Retailers keep this in mind as they charge more for
public consumption, as customers go to Starbucks if not for the coffee, but to present themselves as

Eve Tuck And Yang Summary
When looking at activism and social change within indigenous communities I think many non
indigenous individuals often forget what the most important aspect is that these indigenous people
are fighting for. Within educational institutions we learn about the ways that indigenous
communities are oppressed and marginalized and have been for many years. However, In Eve
Tuck and Wayne Yang s article, Decolonization is not a metaphor they take a very different
approach in order to help the reader recognize that decolonization does not take place without being
able to give indigenous individuals their land back. As we are often taught that decolonization can
refer to social justice means it is usually unclear as to the ways in which this process begins.
Decolonization is not merely educating awareness but having... Show more content on

What I have noticed is that these authors both consider decolonization as something that is a goal
and the need for physical transformation to be present. For Walia this transformation deals with
undoing and challenging the physical barriers of boarders (p. 118). She makes the same argument
as Tuck and Yang stating that We are inserted into and complicit in culture that sees Indians rather
than settlement as the problem. (p. 118). Walia goes beyond what Tuck and Yang argue in stating
that we need to understand the need for a decolonization movement that can try to push these
negative cultural aspects that society contains. She explains various types of these movements
and how they all go above and beyond to fight for different types of decolonization while learning
to challenge oppressive behavior and create conditions that we want to see (2013, p. 129). I think
by realizing that decolonization is not simply a metaphor we are able to realize that social change
needs to be taken into consideration in order to change this

Who Is Cool Hand Luke As A Christ Figure
Luke as a Christ Figure In literature, it s not uncommon for authors to create a character who
parallels Christ himself. In Cool Hand Luke, directed by Stuart Rosenberg, starring Paul Newman,
George Kennedy, Strother Martin, and J.D. Cannon, the protagonist Luke is shown as a Christ
figure. The film begins with Luke being arrested on account of being intoxicated and vandalizing

disagree with the strict rules and authority. While serving his two year sentence working in a chain

Models of the Kingdom Essay
In the book Models of the Kingdom Snyder (2001) presents eight models which Christians have
used to define the kingdom of God. Snyder (2011) explains these models can clarify theological
issues and help obtain truth of the kingdom of God. However, the author also indicates, each model
has strengths and weaknesses thus one should consider three criteria when selecting a model

Analysis Of The Article The Life Of East St Louis ...
The article Life in Mississippi: East St Louis, Illinois is one that is not taken lightly. The article
shows one the injustice that African Americans face in the city of St. Louis. The article all
together is shocking and heartbreaking. To know that in a country that is suppose to be one of the
greatest, if not the greatest, there still is so much injustice is not only eye opening but also
upsetting. One of the 2 most heartbreaking parts for me was when Kozol describes the old men
leaning on his cane listening to Jesse Jackson and crying. This is something so powerful to me
because this is someone who has experience all of the hardships that east St. Louishas to offer and
he has to live knowing that not much has change and maybe Jesse Jackson was the only one
promising the change they deserve. The last scene was when one of the students goes up to
Kozol after class and tell him that what Dr. King did was nothing because they are still living in
such horrible situations. For a teenage kid to think and feel that way, they must have had to
suffer through so much, which is exactly what the article is able to show us, the injustice that
these kids face on a daily basis. Having read this is shocking to one because we live in a different
area where we aren t prone to see such things and because we have grown up and taught to believe
that racism and poverty is almost non existing because this is American a country that doesn t fail
the people.

Batman Vs. Superman, By Jerry Siegel And Artist Joe Shuster
Batman Vs. Superman Although Superman is unable to be controlled or contained, Batman is
much to unpredictable and goes well outside of the law to get what he needs. Superheros are the
fictional embodiment of all of our greatest aspirations, they are also a symbol of hope and give
families a lightness in times of hardship or struggle. Sometimes people need something to take
their attention off of everyday things. From the day we are able to walk, people want to run, but
what happens after we run? We want to run faster, jump or even fly. As people we naturally want
to be able to do more. Since we can t do these thing that we all dream about doing, people write
and tell stories about people that can do the things we can t. The very first Superhero was actually
Superman. He was created by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster, in a small town in Ohio in
1933. Superman or Clark Kent appeared in Action comics for five years, his likeness was then
sold to Detective Comics in 1938. Since then Superman has had a huge number of shows and
movies from the films starring Christopher Reeves, to the show Lois and Clark.
Batman was created by artist Kane and writer Bill Finger, and first appeared in Detective Comics

Human Improduction And The Process Of The Human...
Human Reproduction is a process in which a new human is created. It is essential because it is
needed in order to sustain our population and ensure our species survival. The male reproductive
system contributes sperm, the male sex cell, this sex cell contains 23 chromosomes. The male
reproductive system is also in charge of releasing the sperm into the female s vagina and make
sure that it reaches the female s egg. The female reproductive system is in charge of creating egg
cells, the female reproductive sex cell containing 23 chromosomes. The female reproductive
system is also in charge of making sure fertilization, implantation and that the embryo successfully
develops and is born. The male reproductive system is in charge of making healthy sperm(male
sex cell) and making sure that it successfully reaches the egg of the female. As most systems are,
the male reproductive system is a combination of many components. It all starts at the seminiferous
tubules within the testes, where the sperm is created, however, the testes create hormones that
regulate the production of sperm. Surrounding the testes is the scrotum, a sac of skin that keeps
the sperm at about 3 degrees Celsius below body temperature. After the sperm matures, it is stored
in the epididymis until ejaculation occurs, during ejaculation, the epididymis contracts, releasing
the sperm into the vas deferens, a long tube that connects the urethra and the epididymis. The
sperm then passes by 3 glands, the seminal vesicle which provides sugars, the prostate gland
which provides an alkaline fluid for protection and finally the Cowper s gland which provides a
lubricant for the sperm to travel in. This mixture of substances, called semen is ejaculated out the
urethra and finally the penis and hopefully into the female s reproductive system. However the
penis must be erect for the sperm to successfully enter the female s vagina, this is where erectile
tissue comes in, the tissue is inflated with blood, keeping the penis erect and ensuring that the
sperm enters the vagina. The female reproductive system is in charge of creating eggs and ensuring
the development of the embryo into a fully grown fetus. Just like the male reproductive system, the

This reaction is typical for many of the project managers with whom we interacted. They don t find

This may, of course, not always be the case: sometimes the Gantt chart is indeed the bible by which
the project is managed. The problem faced by project managers is recognizing which approach is
appropriate for the particular project at hand. Should they strictly enforce the discipline inherent in
critical path thinking or should they adopt a more contingent style of management, utilizing a set of
tools and techniques better suited to the particular characteristics of the project?
There are few guides to inform the project manager in this important decision. Managers are left to
their intuition as to which methods and style of management to choose. The pressure to adopt the

The Characteristics And Effects Of The Human Brain
The Human Brain is the most important organ in the body. Much like the headquarters of the body.
Without the brain the rest of the body will suffer. The brain also creates different traits and
personalities. How ever when the brain doesn t function properly it will cause many effects to an
individual. These effects can range from minimal to severe, depending on what is wrong with the
brain.
The human brain is protected by a bone structure in a form of a skull. The brain has a light pink,
pail, and noodle look to it. It has lines in the brain to section parts of the brain. The brain feels
like jello, it s stays in place but squishy. Put to much pressure on it, it will break. The human
brain is very sensitive. The human brain is also wet and slimy, like the feeling of boggers. The
human brain has its own odd smell. Like rotting food in the trash. The average brain weighs
about three pounds. Robbie Gonzalez stated Assume it feels solid, firm, almost rubber like. But
the brains you encounter in a lab setting have almost always been fixed and preserved with
chemicals like formaldehyde, which have a dramatic effect on the texture and firmness of tissue
like brain matter (Gizmodo). What Robbie is saying that brains that are in lab class feel different
than a fresh brain. The reason why they feel different is that in the lab their preserved with
chemicals. That s what Robbie was talking about.

Power Has The Ability To Improve, Or Corrupt Its Holder.
Power has the ability to improve, or corrupt its holder. In William Golding s Lord of the Flies,
the desire for power is illustrated through symbols in the novel, and changes in the boys
behavior. Throughout the boys struggle to survive, their strong thirst for power quickly begins
to consume them. People of authority may use power to their advantage, such as Jack, and it
may often corrupts one s mind. Power is not all bad, though corrupted authority and abuse of
power have many consequences, one of which is the collapse of society. Golding uses
symbolism to show how power affects the boys morals and behavior. The desire and
consequences are shown with the conch, Jack vs Henry s view on power, and the killing of the

Secondly, the way power affects someone is shown within Jack and Henry. Henry has a short
encounter with power, while the consequences are long lasting with Jack. Henry attempts to
control tiny transparent creatures on the shore by talk(ing) to them, urging them, ordering them
(61). He is so fascinated with these creatures and is entranced by the power that he has over
them. He desires power, and finds it when he begins to control these transparencies. His
encounter is short, and he cherishes what little power he had, and does not mind that his orders
go unfulfilled. On the other hand, Jack lets the power go to his head. Jack was obsessed with
hunting, and his desire for power had caused him to lose his identity. Jack wanted to camouflage
himself so he d have an advantage over his prey, by rubbing his face with charcoal. He planned
his new face. He made one cheek and eye socket white...he looked in astonishment, no longer at
himself but an awesome stranger (63). Behind the mask Jack was liberated from shame and self
consciousness (64), and it transformed not only his appearance, but his attitude. The mask
allowed Jack to put away all civilized thought, and unfortunately he goes too far with this. He
becomes more mean and demanding towards the boys. He had power over a pig s life, and is
given power by the hunters. They obey him and follow him around,

The Purpose Of Teaching
Introduction.
Teaching in a classroom is like leading a team to the top of a mountain. Teaching especially when
having a class full of children is the ultimate challenge, because they are new for what they are
dealing with, but it can be also a source of fun to deal with these pure natured souls. Teaching
students at higher classes is much easier, because most of them are independent, and they can think
more about what they learn in class. The purpose of chosen teaching as a profession, curriculum,
teaching methods and teacher s roles are discussed in the following.
Purpose.
Teaching is like leadership. Teachers lead their students to achieve their goals during the study
period. It s a great honor to help my students by giving them the encouragement that they need to
make their dreams come true. The main reason of chosen education as a profession is to follow the
massage of Allah to build our planet. The nations can t raise without educated individuals, so I will
try to make my students aware about the ongoing situations around the country and which might be

Symptoms of Lupus Essays
Lupus is an autoimmune disease that attacks women between the ages of 15 and 40. It occurs less
often in men than in women. The people affected by lupus vary depending on the country or
region. In the US alone, the prevalence rate is highest among Asians of Hawaii, blacks of
Caribbean origin, and Native Americans of the Sioux, Arapahoe, and Crow tribes. Lupus is a
disease that affects the immune system. We can think of the immune system as an army within the
body with hundreds of defenders (known as antibodies). They defend the body from attack by
germs and viruses. In lupus, however, the immune system becomes overactive and creates
antibodies that attack healthy tissues in the body, such as: the skin, kidneys, lungs, heart and brain.

The most common drugs that can cause lupus are procainamide, used for heart problems,
hydralazine used for high blood pressure, and dilantin used for seizures. Drug induced lupus is
usually found in older men and women of all races. The cause is not known, but certain factors
combined are thought to be significant contributors to the development of lupus. These include
genetic defects, hormonal factors, medications, some infections, exposure to ultraviolet B light, and
chemical exposure. Some of the infections that are suspected triggers are the Epstein Barr virus,
cytomegalovirus, parvovirus, and hepatitis C. Some known chemical exposures include
trichloroethylene found in well water and silica dust.
The most common symptoms are fatigue, rashes, or joint pain. Other symptoms that might
develop are skin problems, sensitivity to light, neuropsychiatric problems, fever, changes in
weight, hair loss, and/or swollen glands. Some specific skin problems are skin rashes, i.e., the
facial butterfly rash. Raynaud s phenomenon is often common, affecting the fingers, toes, ears, or
tip of the nose. About 90% of lupus patients have fatigue in various degrees. Symptoms depend on
what body organs are affected and how seriously they are affected. This disease can cause problems
in nearly any system of the body, including the:

В•Kidney
В•Lung
В•Digestive system
В•Blood cells and related organs

Sororities as a Social Institution Essay
When one first thinks of Greek life or a sorority the only thing that comes to mind is the social
aspect. Most people don t think of sororities as social institutions that envelop their own culture,
with mannerisms, languages and customs that are unique to each individual organization. However,
these institutions promote a common set of values that enable members to become connected in a
way that has a more profound meaning than just social interaction. Greek organizations are good
examples of how institutions can affect and be affected by social status and roles within the
collegiate community. They are also a prime example of how race, class and gender can affect a
social setting in both positive and negative manners. Greek... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Within sororities is a language all their own; many words are created or used in a different
manner. For example, big is not an adjective that describes something grand or large as in the
English language. However, big is a term used to describe an older sister whose is assigned to a
younger sister within the organization to be a mentor and a friend. Another example is the word
waltz , which is not referring to a ballroom dance but rather the celebration of a sister s twenty first
birthday. Even the word sister is a part of a sororities unique language as it does not denote the
relationship between blood related relatives, but rather signifies the sister like bonds between
members. This language is imperative to a sorority s culture because it unifies members under a
commonality that distinguishes them from other groups and organizations, much like racial and
religious cultures. Each sorority also has different gestures, much like the language, that are
individualized to each sorority and help distinguish one from the other. Every sorority has a hand
gesture to designate what sorority they are in. Members use this gesture in pictures, when
participating in events and many other times to help differentiate members. Also, sororities have
gestures that encompass all organizations to help distinguish themselves as being in a sorority. For
example, the sorority squat is a common tool used by a big and little to distinguish their roles in a

of boys behaviors in school. Garibaldi first starts out by stating the feminist complaints that girls
were losing their voice in a male oriented classroom have precipitated the school s establishment to
be more in their favor. This has led to boys becoming increasingly disconnected inside the
classrooms. Garibaldi claims that only 65 percent earned high schooldiplomas in the class of 2003,

Traditional Instructional Methods Have Continued For...
Traditional Instructional Method
Traditional teaching methods have continued for generations, and are still implemented today.
However, these instructional methods do not encourage students to own their own learning which
in turn leaves them as less engaged.
Author of How Teacher EducationMatters Linda Darling Hammond wrote about the positive
effects training and development on teaching has on the teachers who under go them in contrast to
those teachers who had a small amount or even no training. Furthermore, teaching training and
development reforms that intensively wove expansive experimental training with assignments
regarding how to learn and how to teach produces teachers that have a higher probability of
remaining in their chosen teaching career. Therefore, teacher training plays a vital role in growing
a teacher s ability to teach and respond to practical situations that were merely just theory in training
to their actual classrooms, and then be able to evaluate and grow further.
In the last ten years their has been mass unhappiness with the education system especially with
teacher training programs. Assorted criticism towards education schools has arisen, claims from
that they are ineffective in shaping adequate teachers for their job, or that they do not respond to
new demands, or that they do not give students any practical experience, or even that they act as

Increase proportion of nurses with baccalaureate degree by 2020 If one can stop for a few
minutes and imagine a doctor s office, a hospital, and a nursing home without nurses, you can
easily see the important role that a nurse plays in society. It s not far fetched to believe that fewer
nurses can shorten our lifespan. Imagine a hospital stay or a surgery without nurses. Imagine your
chances of infection and a successful recovery without the constant care that nurses provide in the

The Importance Of Business Communication
Good communication s high value in the business world is incontestable. In fact, it s not

There are four different types of communications in every business that should be proficient in order

pericarditis can last from a few days to three weeks. Ultimately, the goals of treatment include
reducing pain and inflammation, treating the underlying case, if it s unknown and checking for
complications. A doctor will advise patient to take over the counter anti inflammatory medicines to
help reduce pain and inflammation; such as aspirin or ibuprofen. For pain that becomes severe, a
stronger medicine called colchicine or prednisone (steroid), is prescribed. If an infection is the
cause for the pericarditis, an antibiotic

A Comparison Of Frank Lloyd Wright And Frank OGehry
Two architects who works needs to be recognized too are Frank Lloyd Wright and Frank O Gehry.
Both great architects with creative designs that seem to incorporate with their surroundings. Who
contributed so much to our modern designs and buildings that we still visit today. Both architects
who came up with new ideas and designs instead of the traditional like houses and buildings but
added new concept to what we see today. Frank Lloyd Wrightwas born in the year 1867, in
Richland Center, Wisconsin. Both an architect and writer, he is considered a genius of the
American architecture (Kaufmann 1). Wright went to the University of Wisconsin at Madison for
a few terms where he took engineering courses (Kaufmann 3). He finally left Madison after a few
years and found work with J.L. Silsbee, in architectural detailing. After a few years he opened his
own architectural practice. One of his styles that became the residential design of the 20th century
in the United Stateswas the Prairie Style. The Prairie architecture was known for its revolutionary
approach to the building of modern homes. Wright built about 50 prairie houses in ten years. Two
of his major works that stand out is the Guggenheim Museum located in New York and the Marin
County government Centre located near San Francisco. The Guggenheim Museum is a form of
abstract art which has no separate floor levels but uses a spiral ramp. This was his ideal of
continuous space and most significant building. His principles

Faye Carey Analysis
Do you see a problem in the world? Do you have the passion to change it? If you have heard the
term, teen activism, the definition of it is Youth activism is youth engagement in community
organizing for social change. There have been many times when people have wanted to change
the world (or, in other words, was an activist.) You may know Faye Carey or Bianca V. These
teenagers are activists who saw a problem that they could change and made huge differences.
Their cause was animal abandonment. In this text, you will see what they did to make a
difference outside their community, or even country. Faye Carey You have probably gone to a
pound with so many dogs waiting to be adopted, or seen stray animals left on the side of the
road. Faye saw this issue, and her compassion made her start looking into it deeper, and ended up
helping dogs way outside of her community. One of the most significant things that Faye Carey
did was she advertised many dogs, and many of them were adopted. In the article, Teenage Girl is
Dogs Best Friend, it emphasizes, Faye managed to re home over 60 dogs. This shows that the dogs

advertise dogs and kittens. In fact, the article, Pet abandonment: Faye Carey, illustrates, She has
set up a Facebook page, Animal Re home Waikato, where she advertises puppies and dogs who
need adopting. The author later states, The Facebook page is successful because it has almost
300 likes, and has won many hearts. I think that the Facebook page was a good idea is because the
website is world wide, and many people use it. That way, many people can see Faye s page. The

Deception By William Shakespeare s Play
In William Shakespeare s play 1 Henry IV, deception is a recurring theme. Main characters King
Henry IV and Hotspur deceived other characters in order to benefit themselves. Were these
characters deceiving their subordinates for the sole purpose of gaining power for themselves or
were their choices and actions political strategy geared toward gaining honor and maintaining
the well being of the nation? It is hard to answer this with an exact, correct answer since the only
person that can really answer the question is no longer here, but from these two characters
actions we can draw conclusions. However, it is not as black and white what their intentions
were when they used deception since they both show qualities that make their deception look
good and bad. The question arises from this, did King Henry and Hotspur use their deception
merely for their own personal benefit or for the benefit of the country as a whole? Shakespeare
depicted King Henry as having more complicated reasons for taking the throne since we see both
sides where he shows he wants it for his own benefit but also we see that he wants it for the
benefits of others while with Hotspur it is pretty clear to see that he used deception to try and gain
power just for selfish reasons. Two of the characters take the same route to achieve power and
influence, deception, but their intentions for doing so differ. On one hand there s King Henry, who
although he does not appear a lot throughout the play, one can

Analysis Of Montezuma Conquest
Conquest: Montezuma, Cortes and the fall of Old Mexico
A Historical Book Review The historical narrative, Conquest: Montezuma, Cortes and the fall of
Old Mexico by Hugh Thomas, is a brilliant and meticulously detailed account of the clash between
empires. It gives one a multi sided perspective of all the parties involved during this period, not just
of the Europeans. The clash between Cortes and the Mexica, the birth of a new nation and the
blatant truth brought on by meticulous research and scripture are portrayed through this narrative.
Conquest begins, in detail, with the Aztecs or Mexica as they called themselves. The word Aztec
was not used during the sixteenth century, not even by Cortes. It gained its popularity from
Fransisco Clavijero and later used by Prescott (Thomas, 1993, p xix). The main focus of this
civilization outlined their leadership as well as military decisions. The Mexica dominated
surrounding civilizations along the Mexican valley for material gain, expansion and for trade.
Their social classes, as well as standards, culture, and way of life, was scripted in this cheater. One
thing that caught my attention was the scrupulously detailed account of human sacrifice and
religion that played out in this chapter the more that one read in. The Mexica worshipped many
gods and sacrificed many humans to their gods to bring about rain, health, prosperity and
agricultural abundance. The Mexica s ritualistic sacrifices were one of the things that

How To Repair Your Concrete Walkway So It s Safe And Attractive
The walkway to your front door should be kept in good condition so it doesn t ruin the appearance
of your home. Repairing cracks is important so no one trips and falls on your property. Falling on
concrete could break a bone or cause a head injury. You could even get sued for not maintaining
your walkway properly and creating a hazard. Here are a few tips for repairing cracks in your
concrete walkway and improving its appearance.
Fill In The Cracks
You can probably fill in small cracks yourself. Start by cleaning your walkway to get rid of sand
and dirt. Focus on getting debris and weeds out of all the cracks. You can buy concrete crack
filler in a squeeze container that s easy to use. Just squeeze the filler into the crack and scrape off
the excess, so the surface is level. Filling big cracks takes a little more work. To get the filler to
adhere properly, you ll need to widen the bottom of the crack. With the bottom wider than the top,
the filler will be trapped in place.
Use a pick and hammer to knock pieces of concrete loose from the bottom of the crack, being
careful not to make the top of the crack any wider. You may want to buy a bag... Show more

Call a concrete contractor to take a look and offer an opinion. Grinding the higher side of the
crack will make your walkway even again, and it is much less expensive than tearing out part of
the sidewalk and putting in new concrete. The contractor can grind away all raised portions of
your sidewalk so it is level and safe. The contractor can fill in the cracks and apply a coating on
the concrete to restore its appearance, or leave that job to you. Another time you may need to hire
a contractor is when your walkway has crumbling sides. Those need to be repaired by creating a
wooden frame along the walkway and then filling it in with

Pharmaceutical Companies Stand in the Way of Treatment Essay
Pharmaceutical Companies Stand in the Way of Treatment Abstract This casebook concentrates on
the negative effects that the pharmaceutical industry s trade and production policies have on third
world nations suffering from disease epidemics. My position is that pharmaceutical companies are
not concerned with the health benefits of their drugs, but rather with the market that their drugs
generate. I illustrate this notion by describing the trade policies that pharmaceutical companies
influence and the pharmaceutical companies production policies which concentrate on producing
life style drugs rather than drugs that cure life threatening diseases. Multinational pharmaceutical
giants are occupied with producing drugs that yield the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But this is not necessarily true. Western governments are usually generous about funding drug
industry research. These governments also allow the drug companies to market discoveries and
new drugs that are produced in government and university laboratories. The most expensive
aspect of producing a drug is the pre clinical research, which is performed by the government and
universities, not the drug companies. The Academic Search Premier on the Penrose Library
website was the most useful research tool. Since this casebook topic covers an international
concern that is current and at stasis, it was necessary to use current journal articles in attaining
reliable and up to date information. The process of inquiry and acquiring information about this
topic delineated the necessity of examining several different sources and being a critical reader.
In analyzing different sources of information, it was crucial to note the validity and reliability of
the source; many times it was useful to analyze both sides of an issue in order to gain a balanced
understanding of the topic at issue. In 2001, the discovery of three letters containing anthrax
spores caused widespread panic that swept across the US. Thousands of people flocked to clinics
to be tested for possible infection and hundreds were affected by the shutdown of workplaces and
public facilities. Though only a

Decline Of Baseball Players
If the Major League baseball season were to end today, the Milwaukee Brewers would finish with
the third worst record in baseball. Come next June, the Brewers would be selecting one of the most
important players in the last ten years. If the brewers hit on their next prospect they could find
themselves back into contention, but if they fail, they could find themselves continuing to need to
rebuild.
Top prospects in baseball are more important than ever in today s game. For the past few years we
have seen a passing of the torch. We have seen players like Chipper Jones, Derek Jeter, and Todd
Helton retire and pass the face of today s game to players such as Mike Trout, Bryce Harper, and
Carlos Correa. These young players are contributing so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The team needs a good mix of power, speed, and contact. They need some solid pitching, a decent
bullpen, and flexibility to be able to add the missing piece. When it comes down to it that is
what baseball teams need to be successful. The Brewers are well on their way. They have a solid
bullpen with the 11th best bullpen era this season. Milwaukee s young pitching is quickly
improving too. The Brewers offense is currently in the exact middle for most offense categories
this season. This means, that the Brewers truly have not been as bad as most people believe, just a
little unlucky. The Brewers have actually scored more runs than the Cardinals with runners in
scoring position and they also have a better average, on base percentage, and home runs than the
Cardinals. So while it seems that the Cardinals are worlds better than the Brewers, it is not the

MAHG 5028 Religion and Genocide: RittnerConversation Starter #12
Rwandan Genocide The Angels Have Left Us by Hugh McCullum, discusses the African tragedy
that took place in Rwanda, which resulted in the murder of over one million victims. The Rwanda
genocide was between two groups, the Hutu and the Tutsi. Hutu were considered to be the natives
and indigenous to the land, where Tutsi were considered to be the non native settlers who were non
indigenous. Through propaganda and myth, the tension of ethnic hatred would slowly crumble the
Rwandan State. The Rwandan military distributed weapons with the funding from the French. On

Road blocks where ID cards could be checked were large killing sights. Bodies of Tutsi, Hutu, and
Tutsi sympathizers could be seen left in large piles on the side of the road, scattered throughout the
streets, and inside homes and churches. Many victims fled to hospitals, schools, and churches in
hopes of sanctuary, but for many they became their tombs. Rwanda Prime Minister Faustin
Twagiramungo stated, We have the same language, the same religions. There is no song or
dance or drum beat that is peculiar to one or the other of our people. We had disputed before the
colonial period over things like land ownership, and sometimes there were little fights, but the
chiefs dealt with it in the traditional way and never did we suffer destruction like we have just
experienced (1). The racist theories of earlier colonizers tried to differentiate the two groups based
on physical appearances. Belgians considered Tutsi to be more European and were given
educational advantages. Hutu were excluded from all levels of power and left as a minority
position. These disadvantages along with the nations poverty, over population from refugees, land
pressures, and ecological degradation would rage the extremists and fuel their hatred. Rebels
(interahamwe) and Hutu extremists hunted Tutsi. The propaganda was fed through the Radio
stations giving Hutu ideas of how to find, capture, and kill Tutsi. Hutu rebels called the Tutsi

Describe The Color Blue
When I see the color blue, I think of my pale blue, stuffed bunny that I got when I was three
years old. I named him Blue Sky after the huge expanse of pale blue that loomed over my head
as I played outside and blew bubbles in my backyard on warm summer days. I wanted him to
become my new playmate, looking up at the clouds with me as I found shapes in them and
marvled at the cloudy trails left by airplanes. My earliest memories are filled with the colorblue. It
was the color of my first glasses, my favorite toy, and the best slide on the playground across the
street from my house, all seemingly simple objects that my young mind grasped onto in a way that
made them monumental. These things made up my entire world at a time when I was completely
carefree, my mind full of wonder when experiencing even the simplest things. I still think back to
my early childhood sometimes when I look up at the sky on a cloudless day, and it reminds me to
stop and appreciate the little things sometimes when the world starts to feel overwhelming.... Show

Alternative Energy Production And Its Effects On Fossil Fuels
There has been a growing pressure to develop alternative energy production paths to reduce the
dependency on fossil fuels, while at the same time reducing CO2 emissions to prevent global
warming. Energy from the waste conversion is considered as alternative mean to create renewable
energy. Besides its importance in power generation, char as one of the pyrolysisproduct is
considered as a potential source that can be valorised alongside oil and gas (or syngas).
Pyrolysis is a thermochemical conversion processes that need an external source of heating to yield
gaseous and oily products in the total absence of oxygen, whose characteristics depend on feedstock
composition, temperature, reactor configuration and gasifying agent, and another key process (1,2).
This technology is considered as an attractive alternative to incineration for dealing with municipal
waste disposal due to its lower amount of nitrogen oxides (NOx) and sulphur oxides (SOx)
produced (3). Pyrolysis conditions and parameters are optimised to achieve the optimal output.
However, the thermal cracking process might lead to generating the extent of pyrolysis which is
considered less valuable.
One of the outputs, char, is a carbon rich matrix that contains almost all the inorganic compounds
present in the raw wastes and a significant amount of the condensed by products formed during the
pyrolysis process dispersed throughout a porous structure. In most cases, MSW pyrolytic char does
not have sufficient quality to

Conventional Drug Delivery Systems ( Ddss )
Abstract:
With the emergence of more novel and effective drug therapies, increased importance is being
placed upon the methods by which these drugs are being delivered to the body. Different
methodologies have been heavily investigated as possible solutions , one of these methods are
intelligent or Smart polymeric drug delivery systems . Stimuli responsive and self regulating drug
delivery systems have captured the imagination of researchers, in large part because they suggest a
means to mimic the physiological homeostatic feedback mechanisms that are essential for health.
As dysregulation of homeostasis is a feature of many diseases such as diabetes and cancer.
1.Introduction:
Conventional drug delivery systems (DDSs) are often accompanied by systemic side effects that
mainly are attributed to their nonspecific bio distribution and uncontrollable drug release
characteristics. To overcome these limitations, advanced controlled DDSs have been developed to
achieve the release of payloads at the target sites in a spatial controlled manner.
Commercially available controlled release devices offer several advantages, e.g. they maintain the
drug within the desired therapeutic range with just a single dose, they allow localized drug
delivery which ultimately may reduce the need for follow up care, they preserve drugs that are
rapidly destroyed by the body and ultimately improve patient compliance.
With the breakthrough of the biotechnology field in medicine, many advantages of

The Importance Of Education In Hong Kong
A hardworking, entrepreneurial and well educated population of about seven million people serves
as the foundation of Hong Kong s productivity and creativity. Located at the southeastern tip of
China, Hong Kong is ideally positioned at the center of East Asia. Not only is Hong Kong a large
city on the mainland, but its territory extends to include small rural islands and the Kowloon
Peninsula. Once a small port city, Hong Kongis now a world class center for business, finance, and
art culture.
Education is a top priority in Hong Kong. The government provides financial assistance where
necessary to guarantee that no student is deprived of education. The government has provided nine
years of free and universal basic education since 1978, which consists of six years of primary
education and three years of junior secondary education. During the 2008 and 2009 school year,
free education was extended and it included senior secondary education. Hong Kong also has
twelve higher education institutions, including seven universities and teacher training institutions,
all funded by the University Grants Committee. The other four institutions are the Open University
of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, the Hong Kong Shue Yan University,
and Chu Hai College of Higher Education.
As the average life expectancy in Hong Kong has increased by more than five years in the last
decade, the number of people dying from age related diseases has risen. Medical advances have led

  • 2. Van Gogh And Gauguin The discussion that took place during week three focused broadly on comparing the differences in vision, personality and ideas of the primitive between Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Gauguin. These differences were investigated through their working relationship, as shown by their letters of correspondence, and the art each artist produced during this time. The group discussed comparisons between Van Gogh s plan and almost obsession with making the Studio of the South work and Gauguin s wanderlust that kept him moving. The ideal studio of both Gauguin and Van Gogh opened up discussion further to what aspects of the primitive each painter was influenced by in their attempted creation of a utopian working space. The readings from Childs and the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A Discussion again focused on comparing the two saying how the preference of Brittany versus Arles says much about how their creative process differed. Gauguin s rarely depicts his subject matter with descriptive accuracy instead he takes a place and abstracts the savage and primitive quality that he is searching for. Brittany offers Gauguin not only a rocky savagery in its landscape but allows him to abstract a medieval primitivism from the people in the area due to their Catholic devotion and less modern lifestyle. In his letter to Gauguin in September 1888, Gauguin describes the figures in Vision After the Sermon, as him achieving a great rustic and superstitious simplicity saying that the people are less civilized due to their Catholic devotion, and thus more spiritual. Arles offered Van Gogh a calm sunny place in nature that can act as a monastery for him. A quote by Childs was brought up that, Arles was caught somewhere between a French agrarian village and a modern city This caused issue for Gauguin who didn t want any of that modernity, as shown by him often leaving out signs of civilization in his tropical landscapes. While Van Gogh does feature aspects of modernity in his painting later ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Coming Of Age In Persepolis Marjane Satrapi claims that her story is about the coming of age, not for either gender, but for all humans. However, after reading the book, one might argue that it truly is a woman coming of age story and not for all humans. One might even go as far to say that she is a little defensive in this interview, further hinting that feminism is a very important value for Marjane. It is human nature to do what is best for oneself. It is human nature to protect the rights of one s own kind. It is Marjane s human nature to tell her story with hopes of achieving equal rights for all women. In Persepolis, Marjane Satrapis true purpose for telling her story is not to show the coming of age for all Iranian s; her true purpose for telling her story is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout her story, Marjane mentions many instances where women are objectified, sometimes in an extremely vulgar way. One of these instances takes place when her mother, Marji, is on the side of the road after her car breaks down and two fundamentalist men approach her; They insulted me. They said that women like me should be pushed up against a wall and fucked and then thrown in the garbage (74). All because Marji was not wearing a veil. One might also say that these men are particularly vulgar, and give off a very disgusting vibe, but nonetheless it is a loss for females everywhere. According to these terrible men, all they are good for is sex. Then they are useless. A little less grotesque instance of objectification is when the Satrapis maid talks about her son experiencing martyrdom propaganda at his school, where his teachers ... told him that in paradise there will be plenty of food, women, and houses made of gold and diamonds (100). The Basic Building Block Of Carbohydrates POLYMER SCIENCE [Document subtitle] History of Carbohydrates Carbohydrates are one of the macronutrients used in our diet and also protein carbohydrate interactions are an essential component of cellular structure and function. Vegetables, food grains, fruits, many other dairy products naturally contain carbohydrates in various amounts. The basic building block of carbohydrates is a simple combination of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen. Any compound containing these three elements and having twice as many hydrogen atoms as carbon and oxygen are the chemical definition of the carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are called as the natural polymers. Natural polymers occur in the nature and they can be extracted. They are water based. Some examples of natural polymers are DNA cellulose and proteins. There is also another type of the polymers called as synthetic polymers those which are derived from the petroleum oils and they are made by the engineers. Some examples of the synthetic polymers are nylon, Teflon, polyester. Humans when evolved used to eat only fruits and tubers year around. Fruits and tubers are consisted of safe starches and every one can consume them regularly and they become excellent part of their life s. Then humans started to hunt animals for food. Many scientists believe that when humans started eating meat those which are high suppliers of the carbohydrates human s brains become big. • 6. Study Of The Airline Industry Resilience And The Terrorist... Finally, Company Size, Industry, Company Ownership, Organizational Design (Czinkota et al., 2010), and Firm Age are introduced in the model to control for factors beyond relationships that could influence the dependent variable of performance resilience. Data Analysis The research method relies upon the general methodological framework used by Gittell et al. (2006) in the study of the airlines industry resilience to the terrorist attacks of 9/11. This exploratory archival data analysis employs quantitative statistical techniques from the terrorism and international business literature stream. Initially, correlation analysis between the operationalized independent variables, moderating variables, control variables and the dependent variable will be conducted, using Pearson Correlation Coefficients as a measure, to identify and evaluate non causal associations and strengths of relationships between variables. In addition, scatterplots would be created of the variables to determine whether linear relationships exist. An analysis of variance (ANOVA) would be used as the general structure for statistical testing of the conceptual model, shown in Figure 4, using the F test. Moreover, the F test would be an initial overall inference test of the operationalized conceptual model. Furthermore, collinearity diagnostics tests for multi collinearity on the independent and moderating variables will be performed using Variance Inflation Factors as a gauge to assess any overlap or ... It gives off the impression that Ginsberg is so passionate in what he is talking about that he does not need to stop until he has said his whole piece. Part one also uses obscene language, which includes words such as sex, f**king, semen, and a*s which further indicates the bluntness of the situation. Ginsberg uses a symbolic language ... • 8. The Effects Of Climate Change And Variability Essay Abstract Climate change and variability poses a major challenge to current and future productivity of major crops. During the last century, there has been a rapid increase in various greenhouse gas emissions, leading to warmer temperatures, drought stress, and increased exposure to ultraviolet B radiation. At the present rate of population increase and green house gas emissions it is predicted that future climate will be warmer and drier, and there will be more occurrences of short episodes of extreme events of various stresses. Crops often exposed to short episodes of various abiotic stresses or its combination during its critical period of growth stages can limit its yield potential. Understanding of impact of climate change drivers and climate variability will be critical in developing crop management strategies to combat negative effect of climate change and variability. This review provides an overview of the influences of elevated carbon dioxide, high temperature stress, drought stress, elevated UV B radiation and their interaction on various physiological, growth and yield processes of various crops. Elevated carbon dioxide will increase crop yield in C3 plants under optimum growth conditions. However, under high temperature, drought and UV B stress conditions there will be very limited or no benefits of elevated CO2 on grain yield. It is predicted that global mean surface air temperatures will increase in the range of 1.5 to 4.5В°C by end of this century. Similarly, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Exposure is repeatedly exposing the subject to a trigger of obsession. If a person is afraid of getting sick, they would expose themselves by sitting in a hospital. Response prevention is asking the patient to refuse contributing to their compulsive behavior. The behavior they perform is to reduce rising anxiety levels, but while participating in ERP the patient will experience levels of anxiety while facing the fear. In the hospital situation, the patient would have to refuse leaving or excessive handwashing. Since OCD habits are usually created out of anxiety or distress the use of anti anxiety medications are commonly used to suppress anxiety. Without the anxiety, the need for a compulsive behavior is not as strong. Cognitive treatment was formed to redirect misrepresented cognitions that might persist having not been considered or dealt with while under behavioral treatment (Whittal, Thordarson, McLean, 2004, p. 1560). Undergoing cognitive treatment is an alternative to ERP as anxiety levels are lower with less trigger provoking methods. At this point, you know only that Mr. K. s concern relates in some way to the divorce. Therefore, you want to encourage him to explore that topic in depth. Mr. K please describe your thoughts about for your future plans? The question that I selected was open ended. My question is opened ended because I am asking my client to explore something. My rational for choosing this question was because I did not want to come off as blaming Mr. K for anything. The test was very clear about that. • 14. Slavery During The Twentieth Century Jeremy Black has recently stated slavery played a major role in the twentieth century. The twentieth century, he argues, witnessed a highpoint in slavery as it rose to a new peak. He defines slavery as being public which differs from the conventional account of enslavement, economic exploitation and racism. For Black, the conventional account of slaveryhas been easier to define and confront. This dissertation through the work of three authors: Buchi Emecheta, Ayi Kwei Armah and Tayeb Salih aims to act as a corrective to approaches similar to Black s theory, that slavery has been easily defined, by demonstrating the tension between remembering and forgetting history. The twentieth century narratives trace the history of the Atlantic slave tradethrough contemporary Africa, reflecting the role of slavery in present day. The works unearth remnants of the past in order to locate African memories in literature and bring them forth from the margins of history. Each author originates from different geographical locations in Africa, which allows various forms of slavery to emerge in the narratives, representing slavery as continuing to haunt the African psyche. In tracing transatlantic slave trade literature, Achille Mbembe states, there is, properly speaking no African memory presenting the void of African voices in the history of the slave trade. The memories depicted in literature are as Paul Connerton claims remembered by those in power demonstrating the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Within educational institutions we learn about the ways that indigenous communities are oppressed and marginalized and have been for many years. However, In Eve Tuck and Wayne Yang s article, Decolonization is not a metaphor they take a very different approach in order to help the reader recognize that decolonization does not take place without being able to give indigenous individuals their land back. As we are often taught that decolonization can refer to social justice means it is usually unclear as to the ways in which this process begins. The female reproductive system is in charge of creating egg cells, the female reproductive sex cell containing 23 chromosomes. The female reproductive system is also in charge of making sure fertilization, implantation and that the embryo successfully develops and is born. The male reproductive system is in charge of making healthy sperm(male sex cell) and making sure that it successfully reaches the egg of the female. As most systems are, the male reproductive system is a combination of many components. It all starts at the seminiferous tubules within the testes, where the sperm is created, however, the testes create hormones that regulate the production of sperm. Surrounding the testes is the scrotum, a sac of skin that keeps the sperm at about 3 degrees Celsius below body temperature. After the sperm matures, it is stored in the epididymis until ejaculation occurs, during ejaculation, the epididymis contracts, releasing the sperm into the vas deferens, a long tube that connects the urethra and the epididymis. The sperm then passes by 3 glands, the seminal vesicle which provides sugars, the prostate gland which provides an alkaline fluid for protection and finally the Cowper s gland which provides a lubricant for the sperm to travel in. This mixture of substances, called semen is ejaculated out the urethra and finally the penis and hopefully into the female s reproductive system. However the penis must be erect for the sperm to successfully enter the female s vagina, this is where erectile tissue comes in, the tissue is inflated with blood, keeping the penis erect and ensuring that the sperm enters the vagina. The female reproductive system is in charge of creating eggs and ensuring the development of the embryo into a fully grown fetus. Just like the male reproductive system, the female ... Some of the infections that are suspected triggers are the Epstein Barr virus, cytomegalovirus, parvovirus, and hepatitis C. Some known chemical exposures include trichloroethylene found in well water and silica dust. The most common symptoms are fatigue, rashes, or joint pain. Other symptoms that might develop are skin problems, sensitivity to light, neuropsychiatric problems, fever, changes in weight, hair loss, and/or swollen glands. Some specific skin problems are skin rashes, i.e., the facial butterfly rash. Raynaud s phenomenon is often common, affecting the fingers, toes, ears, or tip of the nose. • 35. Sororities as a Social Institution Essay When one first thinks of Greek life or a sorority the only thing that comes to mind is the social aspect. Most people don t think of sororities as social institutions that envelop their own culture, with mannerisms, languages and customs that are unique to each individual organization. However, these institutions promote a common set of values that enable members to become connected in a way that has a more profound meaning than just social interaction. Greek organizations are good examples of how institutions can affect and be affected by social status and roles within the collegiate community. They are also a prime example of how race, class and gender can affect a social setting in both positive and negative manners. Greek... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Within sororities is a language all their own; many words are created or used in a different manner. For example, big is not an adjective that describes something grand or large as in the English language. However, big is a term used to describe an older sister whose is assigned to a younger sister within the organization to be a mentor and a friend. Another example is the word waltz , which is not referring to a ballroom dance but rather the celebration of a sister s twenty first birthday. Even the word sister is a part of a sororities unique language as it does not denote the relationship between blood related relatives, but rather signifies the sister like bonds between members. This language is imperative to a sorority s culture because it unifies members under a commonality that distinguishes them from other groups and organizations, much like racial and religious cultures. Each sorority also has different gestures, much like the language, that are individualized to each sorority and help distinguish one from the other. Every sorority has a hand gesture to designate what sorority they are in. Members use this gesture in pictures, when participating in events and many other times to help differentiate members. Also, sororities have gestures that encompass all organizations to help distinguish themselves as being in a sorority. For example, the sorority squat is a common tool used by a big and little to distinguish their roles in a picture. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Garibaldi first starts out by stating the feminist complaints that girls were losing their voice in a male oriented classroom have precipitated the school s establishment to be more in their favor. This has led to boys becoming increasingly disconnected inside the classrooms. Garibaldi claims that only 65 percent earned high schooldiplomas in the class of 2003, compared with 72 percent of girls. Furthermore, teaching training and development reforms that intensively wove expansive experimental training with assignments regarding how to learn and how to teach produces teachers that have a higher probability of remaining in their chosen teaching career. Increase Proportion Of Nurses With Baccalaureate Degree Increase proportion of nurses with baccalaureate degree by 2020 If one can stop for a few minutes and imagine a doctor s office, a hospital, and a nursing home without nurses, you can easily see the important role that a nurse plays in society. It s not far fetched to believe that fewer nurses can shorten our lifespan. Imagine a hospital stay or a surgery without nurses. • 44. Deception By William Shakespeare s Play In William Shakespeare s play 1 Henry IV, deception is a recurring theme. Main characters King Henry IV and Hotspur deceived other characters in order to benefit themselves. Were these characters deceiving their subordinates for the sole purpose of gaining power for themselves or were their choices and actions political strategy geared toward gaining honor and maintaining the well being of the nation? It is hard to answer this with an exact, correct answer since the only person that can really answer the question is no longer here, but from these two characters actions we can draw conclusions. However, it is not as black and white what their intentions were when they used deception since they both show qualities that make their deception look good and bad. The question arises from this, did King Henry and Hotspur use their deception merely for their own personal benefit or for the benefit of the country as a whole? Shakespeare depicted King Henry as having more complicated reasons for taking the throne since we see both sides where he shows he wants it for his own benefit but also we see that he wants it for the benefits of others while with Hotspur it is pretty clear to see that he used deception to try and gain power just for selfish reasons. Analysis Of Montezuma Conquest Conquest: Montezuma, Cortes and the fall of Old Mexico A Historical Book Review The historical narrative, Conquest: Montezuma, Cortes and the fall of Old Mexico by Hugh Thomas, is a brilliant and meticulously detailed account of the clash between empires. It gives one a multi sided perspective of all the parties involved during this period, not just of the Europeans. The clash between Cortes and the Mexica, the birth of a new nation and the blatant truth brought on by meticulous research and scripture are portrayed through this narrative. Conquest begins, in detail, with the Aztecs or Mexica as they called themselves. The word Aztec was not used during the sixteenth century, not even by Cortes. It gained its popularity from Fransisco Clavijero and later used by Prescott (Thomas, 1993, p xix). The main focus of this civilization outlined their leadership as well as military decisions. The Mexica dominated surrounding civilizations along the Mexican valley for material gain, expansion and for trade. Their social classes, as well as standards, culture, and way of life, was scripted in this cheater. Besides its importance in power generation, char as one of the pyrolysisproduct is considered as a potential source that can be valorised alongside oil and gas (or syngas). Pyrolysis is a thermochemical conversion processes that need an external source of heating to yield gaseous and oily products in the total absence of oxygen, whose characteristics depend on feedstock composition, temperature, reactor configuration and gasifying agent, and another key process (1,2). This technology is considered as an attractive alternative to incineration for dealing with municipal waste disposal due to its lower amount of nitrogen oxides (NOx) and sulphur oxides (SOx) produced (3). Stimuli responsive and self regulating drug delivery systems have captured the imagination of researchers, in large part because they suggest a means to mimic the physiological homeostatic feedback mechanisms that are essential for health. As dysregulation of homeostasis is a feature of many diseases such as diabetes and cancer. 1.Introduction: Conventional drug delivery systems (DDSs) are often accompanied by systemic side effects that mainly are attributed to their nonspecific bio distribution and uncontrollable drug release characteristics. To overcome these limitations, advanced controlled DDSs have been developed to achieve the release of payloads at the target sites in a spatial controlled manner. Commercially available controlled release devices offer several advantages, e.g. they maintain the drug within the desired therapeutic range with just a single dose, they allow localized drug delivery which ultimately may reduce the need for follow up care, they preserve drugs that are rapidly destroyed by the body and ultimately improve patient compliance.
