Kingdom Animalia Essay
Extra Credit Essays
1. Domain bacteria Single celled organisms, ( otherwise known as prokaryotic cells) that do not have a
membrane protecting the cell. Bacteria can be found almost everywhere in the world.
Domain eukarya All organisms grouped within the domain eukarya are also considered single celled.
Eukaryotic cells are specifically grouped by the things each organism lives off, or by the things they
eat individually.
Domain archaea Along with bacteria the domain archaea is a prokaryote cell meaning it consists of
one single cell. However archaeal organisms can be found in areas where the earth s most intense
natural resources are present. Areas including Yellowstone National park where there are many
geysers along with places including Hawaii.
2. Kingdom Protists these organisms solely do not depend on themselves to create food but on other
living things.
Kingdom plante this kingdom is made up of plants. Plants survive solely on photosynthesis. This basic
way of nutrition.
Kingdom fungi unlike the kingdom plante the members of the kingdom fungi, survive and live off of
what is found in the soil beneath us. Fungi are considered to be decomposes meaning they decompose
dead organisms which therefore becomes the food for their cells.
Kingdom Animalia Humans are considered to be classified under the kingdom Animalia. Humans and
many other animals eat other living organisms unlike the kingdom fungi. We survive on eating other
living things.

Roe V. Wade ( 1973 )
Pamela Macie Davis Professor Joseph Devaney American Government, 5:15 6:30 MW 6 April 2015
Roe v. Wade (1973): Second Draft Norma McCorvey was a young woman who had dropped out of
high school, divorced from her husband, and was raising her five year old daughter with very little
money. She tried to obtain an abortion but was unable to under Texas law in 1969. At the time, Texas
did not allow women to have abortions unless the mother s life was in danger. McCorvey had no
choice but to carry the baby full term and give up the baby she wanted to abort. Her lawyer also
introduced her to two recent graduates of the University of Texas Law School, Sarah Weddington and
Linda Coffee. The three women decided to challenge the constitutionality of Texas s law and
McCorvey became Jane Roe in a test case against Henry Wade, the criminal district attorney for
Dallas County, Texas. Wade appealed to the Supreme Court the decision of a three judge federal
district court striking down Texas s law. Justice Blackmun finally handed down the Court s opinion on
January 23, 1973. The Court s decision was seven to two, and the majority s opinion was announced
by Justice Blackmun. Chief Justice Burger and Justices Douglas and Stewart concurred; Justices
Rehnquist and White dissented. Justice Blackmun delivered the opinion of the Court by saying, The
principal thrust of appellant s attack on the Texas statutes is that they improperly invade a right, said to
be possessed by the pregnant woman,

Taking a Look a the Munchausen Syndrome
Munchausen!!!
If you know someone with munchausen syndrome, you know how bad the disease is. If you don t
know someone with the disease, I will tell you all about it. the disease isn t very big or popular
anymore, because not a lot of women don t have this disease anymore. I have done a lot of research,
and most of the diagnoses were done in the 1900s, but the disease is still around some places. This
disease is mostly diagnosed to women, because most men don t feel the need to these kind of things.
Personally, I don t know anyone with the disease, but I have been doing research for a while and
things do get really serious. The disease is when women, that have children, don t feel enough love
from their kids so they poison their kids food, and when kids are sick, what do they usually want the
most their momma. Then the kids want their mother and the mothers feel loved more that usual.
Women with munchausen are putting the lives of innocent children in danger, some are even going to
the extreme and taking their lives.
Munchausen syndrome is a serious mental disorder in which someone with a deep need for attention
pretends to be sick or gets sick or injured on purpose. People with Munchausen syndrome may make
up symptoms, push for risky operations, or try to rig laboratory test results to try to win sympathy and
concern.Typically, the cause is a need for attention and sympathy from doctors, nurses, and other
professionals. Some experts believe that it isn t just the

Grad School At A Very Good Program
When I met my former fiancé, we were both in grad school at a very good program, working on a mix
of loans, grants, and small scholarships to make it through. Neither of us came from wealthy
backgrounds, and our school was very expensive. We took refuge in the fact that we were the poor
kids, surrounded by many wealthy people who did not have to worry about the same things that we
did. And because we were both on the same (very strict) budget, when it came to things like dating
and romance, we had very similar limits for what constituted a couple s night. I can count on one hand
the times we went out to dinner together to a real restaurant, and our biggest hobby was probably
getting creative with ramen recipes and watching our shared Netflix account. I loved it because it was
him, but I admit that I was always envious of the other students around me who seemed to be able to
live the way they wanted, without worrying about the cost. We both graduated within a year of each
other, and both got jobs more or less in our chosen professions. I became a counselor at a charter
school for underprivileged but gifted students, helping guide them into college and choose the best
classes. My ex took a job doing research for a foundation involved with urban planning. We were the
bright eyed, hopeful young couple living in Queens, trying to make the world a better place in our
own naive way. We had a tiny apartment, and both earned meager salaries, but we were happy and in
love. And

Mary Warren In The Crucible
In the Crucible there are a group of girls that go into the woods. They dance, chant, and some of them
even took there clothes off. They were caught by Reverend Parris. He wasn t sure on what to think of
it so he left it alone until that morning his daughter Betty was in bed sick. Parris and some others
began to investigate the girls, because they expected witchcraft. There are many people in this tale that
I could talk about, but the one I have chosen is Mary Warren. The reason for this is because in my
opinion she really helped bring the story to the conclusion that it did. Whether she meant to, or not.
She also had a change of heart in the play, more than once. So now we shall indulge ourselves into the
significance of this character and what role she truly plays. Mary Warren is a young girl, 18 years of
age. She lived as a servant to John and Elizabeth Procter. She is one of the many girls that went into
the woods to dance . After the girls were caught they tried to take the attention of of themselves and
put it on others. This caused a big commotion, that in the end caused many people to lose their lives.
The girls were saying that people are witches in order to save there own lives. Marry being one of
these girls was not completely happy with what she was doing. ... Show more content on

This poppet was small, white and had on a dress. When she was finished she put the needle in its side.
That s when Abigail had a great idea. Abigail was more or less the leader of the girls and was just as
conniving as the devil. Knowing good and well that Mary was going to give the poppet to Elizabeth,
Abigail took a needle and stabbed herself and accused Elizabeth of witchcraft. What this had done,
was that the men from the court came to the Proctors house looking for a poppet which they found and
found the needle in its stomach. Unknowingly Mary had put Mrs. Proctor in jail and caused John to
get even more involved than he had

Durability Lab Report
Abstract This report discusses the testing of the durability of the Ultra Thin Lifestyle, Trojan, and
Durex Condoms by putting ball bearings in each condom until it broke for 3 trial runs. They are
commonly known as a rubber layer used when having intercourse and is considered a safe haven
because it helps prevent pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections in this case, we used ultra
thin rubber sheaths. Our hypothesis was that if Lifestyle cost more than Durex and Trojan, then
Lifestyle would have the most durability. We gathered our materials which included gloves, sealed
condoms, ball bearings, and a plastic bin. We took the mass of one ball bearing before starting to
know how to calculate how much intake each condom can endure and started putting them into each
condom until it broke. Our findings were that the durability of each brand was extremely inconsistent
during the three trial experiment. In addition, it meant we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To begin, we used an electronic balance to measure the mass of one ball bearing in grams and the
mass was recorded on a separate sheet of paper. We then positioned a bin on the floor below the
workspace. The Durex Ultra Thin condom was removed from its package and held open over the bin.
Ball bearings were added to the condom until the condom broke. The number of ball bearings that it
took to break the condom was recorded on a separate sheet of paper. These steps were repeated two
more times, using Trojan Ultra Thin condoms the second time, and LifeStyles Ultra Thin condoms the
third time. This entire process was repeated two more times until all three brands were tested with
three trials. Once all the results for the trials were recorded, the the mass a condom could hold before
breaking was calculated for each trial for every brand. The number of ball bearings that the condom
could hold was multiplied by the mass of one ball

Taking a Look at Literary Deconstructionism
What is literary deconstructionism? According to the Merriam Webster dictionary deconstructionism
is the literary analysis that questions the fundamental conceptual distinctions, or oppositions , in
Western philosophy through a close examination of the language and logic of philosophical and
literary texts . In other words it means that the reader makes the text what they want it to be, they
cannot assume that the writer is implying anything by the words he has written; the text can have a
different meaning to each person that reads it. Deconstructionism has been closely related to the
postmodernism era as they both tend to resist definition or classification. According to Clark Morrow
in the July 2007 The Vocabula Review, most people consider the theory that words are very indistinct
tokens of meaning; and can yield any number of meanings as deconstructionism, while others call it
postmodernism; as stated previously these two literary eras are closely linked. Deconstructionism
theory states that can be no misinterpretation of what you read, the writer may intend to have one
meaning of the text but each person that reads it can all take away different meanings from it.
Deconstructionism began in the mid 1960 s, and peaked during the 1970 s; by a man name Jacques
Derrida. Derrida was born in July 1930 in El Bian, Algeria and died October 8, 2004 in Paris, France;
he graduated with his baccaulaureat in 1948 from the Jewish lycee`. After graduation he went on to

Pan1 And Genetic Domain Structures
In contrast to Sc, Ca, and Mo that share the Pan1 Las17/Bee1 endocytic pathway, Cn appears to adopt
a distinct Cin1 Wsp1 endocytic pathway for transport, growth, and virulence [22]. Both Cin1 and
Wsp1 display domain structures similar, but not identical, to human ITSN1 and WASp than to Sc/Ca
Pan1 and Las17/Bee1 [23, 24]. These findings suggest a unique intracellular transport process
occurring in Cn and raise several important questions. As endocytic proteins function by interacting
with other partner proteins, what are the other binding partners of Cin1 in the pathway? Does Cin1
mediated endocytic pathway contribute to specific virulence characteristics? We are uniquely
positioned to address these critical questions.
In terms of domain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The intriguing finding that Cin1 S confers a CNS survival advantage provides a novel avenue to probe
the CNS propensity of Cn. Finally, given the importance of exRNA in intercellular cellular
communication, it is tempting to speculate that Cin1 regulates uptake and export of exRNA to play a
role in host pathogen interactions and pathogenesis. Because of our recent advances, we believe we
may possess an unprecedented system to probe the mechanism of pathogenesis in Cn.
C. Approach Cn is a haploid budding yeast with a well defined life cycle. It also has proven to be a
tractable research model in which classical and molecular approaches, as well as both in vitro and in
vivo models, are available for studying host pathogen interactions and pathogenesis. In addition,
genomic and proteomic approaches including microarray, whole transcriptome shotgun sequencing
(RNA Seq), and proteomics have all been employed to study pathogenesis of Cn [35 37]. This well
established model organism and available research resources will be invaluable for us to pursue our
research goals.
In Cn, Cin1 is required for the endocytic transport of the lipophilic styryl dye FM4 64, normal
morphology, proper localization of a Lac1 DsRed fusion protein, mating, and the production of
capsule, urease, and phospholipases [22]. Cin1 also regulates the actin cytoskeleton upstream of the
WASp homolog Wsp1 and Cdc42 [23, 24]. This pleiotropic function is

Nutrition Intake Log Analysis
Nutrition Intake Log Over the period of three day I kept a food record to analyze my nutrient intake.
Keeping this food log allowed me to see what and how much nutrients I was getting from the foods I
was consuming. I quickly realized that I had been missing out on some key nutrients, vitamins, and
minerals needed for a healthy life style. Without analyzing your intake, it is hard to see what nutrients
you are getting and if you are getting enough of them. This food record allowed me to see how I can
better improve my diet and achieve a healthier lifestyle.
Nutrients and Minerals I am 20 years old, five feet eleven inches, and I weight about 205 pounds. It is

As I said before I am trying to lose weight, and this showed me that calories and exercise are not the
only things I need to focus on. I realized that I consume more protein and carbohydrates than I need
and both of those get stored as fat if not used. I also consume too much sodium which can have
negative effects on the hear. Sodium makes blood volume increase which makes the heart have to
work harder, and over time this leads to high blood pressure, heat attack, stoke, and even heart failure
(Harvard 2016). In regards to this I need to cut down on my sodium intake to increase my heart health.
Calcium and Potassium are two key minerals need for life and I am lacking in both areas. Calcium
helps build and repair tissue, and without it, overtime bones can deteriorate (National Institute of
Health 2016). I am not too short of my calcium goal, but I need to maintain and good calcium intake
to maintain good bone health. Potassium is also an electrolyte, a substance that conducts electricity in
the body, and with my sever lack of potassium intake I am at risk for heart disease (UMM 2015).
Lastly I need to make sure I am getting enough of my vitamins. I lack the right amounts of Vitamins
C, D, and E. Lack of vitamin can cause many symptoms such as fatigue, shortness of breath,
dizziness, irregular heart beats, muscle weakness, personality changes, unsteady movements, or
mental confusion (Mayoclinic.org 2016). Most symptoms of

The Pros And Cons Of General Intelligence Tests
It is notable to mention that the individual s attainment measured by general intelligence tests are
indeed broader and the products of less formal and usually less recent learning experiences compared
to the ones measured by standardized achievement tests (Aiken, 2003c). Cohen et al. (2013b) regarded
that the primary purpose for this kind of measure is that it focuses on the test taker s level of
comprehension in the different subject matters. These types of tests are commonly structured to
include several subject areas divided into subtests and are most typically identified as test batteries.
Interestingly, achievement tests often serve as better predictors of school ratings than tests of
intelligence or special abilities. This does not connote, however, that test of achievement in a specific
subject can entirely replace tests of intelligence and special abilities. The accomplishments or
achievements determined by general intelligence tests are usually extensive and formed by less formal
and probably less recent learning experiences than those measured by standardized tests of
achievement. Moreover, for the reason that achievement tests usually evaluate knowledge of
information that has been methodically taught, scores on these tests are more influenced by coaching
than scores on intelligence tests.
There are a number of purposes carried out by achievement tests, the basic one is to determine how
much an individual know about certain topics or how well one can perform

voice will be ground back into sharp ugly bits. I ll become the gargoyle again, but this time by my

valuable and meaningful lessons that those can be huge impact on every others and eventually can
change the world we are lived in. This quote is from when the moment of decision is made on the cliff
by the narrator, he decides to confront his brutal reality and try his best to survive in the most
desperate situation; most importantly, his decision would not be made without the continuous help of
Marianne Engel. When I was in the depression for very long time after losing significant amount of
valuable elements in my life such as money, time, relationship, and more, the one approached to me
with a helping hand, who gave me the motivation to face the reality and survive. Even it seemed like I

2004 with the development of Phase I of said project in an effort to create and build a better
community for city residents. In doing so, they have been privy to obtaining various grants and
funding that allowed them to extend the focus on the project to the Riverwalk and Seawall, while

The Role of Economic Theory Economic theory is an essential part in economic research, and even
more so when discussing the development of city projects. The idea that the implementation of
policies in budgetary issues would improve people s lives is attractive to budget administrators and
city administrators alike (Varian, 1989). In fact, it is most useful for evaluating the answers to
common problems faced by local organizations. The determining factor is based on the approach
taken to evaluate the effectiveness of the project. The use of Cost Benefit Analysis in City Projects ,
such as the Sanford Riverwalk, provides strategic analysis and planning of the recreational incentives
for city residents. The city is based around surrounding popular cities known for their parks and
recreation. The City of Altamonte Springs, Daytona Beach, and the City of Orlando are known for
their state parks and touristic areas. Because the development of such a project would contribute to a
competitive market and enhance the face value of the city, it is part of the overall analysis of the
research conducted on this particular project. Influence of Economic Theory Economic theory was
certainly influential in cost benefit

What is a hero? According to Merriam Webster Dictionary, and hero is in mythological or legendary
figure often of divine descent in Dallas with great strength or ability. Dictionary.com describes a hero
as someone noted for courageous acts on nobility of character or someone who in the opinion of
others has special achievements, abilities, or personal qualities and is regarded as a role model or Idol.
My personal definition is someone who is seen as sort of a higher up position but has a fatal flaw that
inevitably leads to their downfall. You could some all of these definitions up and call Percy Jackson a
hero. First, one reason that Percy Jackson is a hero is because he is selfless. And The Lightning Thief,

Plagerism Or Schoolastic Dishonesty
I believe that this is plagerism or schoolastic dishonesty. I belive this because plagerism is defined as
teh practice of taking somone else s work or ideas and passing them off as one s own. In other words
plagerism is an act of fraud. In the text Miguel ask Alyssa to tellhim the anwers to questions on the
test. This means that the answers Miguel provideson his test are not his own and by definition are
plagerized. I believe that Miguel and Alyssa are at fault for plagerizm. I believe this because the
following took place in the text, Miguel asked Alyssa for the answers and Alyssa moved her arm so
that Miguel could see her paper. Justin see s what is taking place but did not participate in the act so he
is not at fault for plagerizm.

Can Money Buy Happiness Analysis
In the informational text, Can Money Buy Happiness? , the central idea is by spending money
unselfishly, can bring joy to both to giver and the receiver . For instance, in the informational text,
Professor Elizabeth Dunn conducted a research in 2008. She gave cash to two groups of students. She
told one group to spend cash on themselves and the other to spend it on someone else. Which group
turned out out be happier? The group that spent the money on others. (Scope Magazine pg 26)
According to the research, it is clear that spending money unselfishly brings joy to oneself, but does
the character Jerry from, President Cleveland, Where Are You? agree with the central idea of Can
Money Buy Happiness? Jerry would probably have disagreed with the central idea.
First of all, Jerry spent the money to bring Armand, his older brother, to a dance. This could be
confirmed in the text when Armand was dressed up in a suit with new shoes when before he only had
some old shoes that were falling apart. Where he got the suit? It was from Jerry. I needed that five
dollars it was an emergency (Comier pg 29) Jerry spent the five dollars on Armand, although Jerry
feels regretful. Jerry spent money on Armand for love, even though he never agreed with love. I was
glad I had never become involved with love love that bought desperation to your eyes, that caused you
to write letters you did not plan to send. (Comier pg 28) Jerry also muttered Love when he saw
Armand, Jerry obviously regretted his decision but at the same time he thought he would feel happy.
Secondly, Jerry may have not felt happy because he was forced to spend the money unselfishly. Think
about it, he never felt like giving the money to Armand for the cause of love but it felt he forced
himself to give him the money, or like someone gave him a command to do it. This is implied when
Armand thought Jerry a lesson. It s all right, he (Armand) said gently. Maybe you learned something.
The words were gentle but they held a curious dignity, the dignity remaining even when his voice
cracked on the last syllable. (Cormain pg 27) This was probably foreshadowing the part in the story
Jerry felt like he was commanded or forced to

Married With A Family Vs Single Life
Married with a family Vs Single life. Marriage is a beautiful aspect in a persons life. When a person is
single they tend to live a life that is a different kind of lifestyle. Marriage is when one person scarifies
their needs to help fulfill the other person s needs that they love and care for. While being single, that
person only cares about themselves and fulfill s their own needs with what makes them happy. The
contrasts between being married with a family and being single are freedom, communication, and
financial issues. To begin with, being married with a family comes with responsibilities such as having
less freedom. By having less freedom the wife or husband takes care of the kids which takes a lot of
the time. Also having jobs can take up the freedom of a marriage couple. When a person is single they
have all the freedom they want. Being single they can do whatever they desire such as going out,
having the time of their life. Also, they are not tied down to another person. In some situations if a
married couple doesn t have kids that can mean here freedom consist of spending time with there
spouse which take up the other spouse or both of there time and freedom. With being single they don t
have the responsibility for no one but themselves. Also with being single has the advantage of the

The NBA Is A Dream In The NBA
For most young players, playing in the NBA is a dream. For a lot of people, they only see and judge
from the outside looking in. They have no idea the body of work that players put together throughout
the years just to get to the NBA. For the lucky few making it to the NBA is the easy part, maintaining
their longevity in the league is the hard part. Which is why all the great players eat, sleep, and breathe
basketball. That obsessive quality is what made players such as Kobe Bryant, and Micheal Jordan
great. Before Jordan, and Bryant was known as The Black Mamba, and Air Jordan they were young
players in the NBA going through the pitfalls, and growing pains of making it first as a rotation player,
then as one of the league main attractions. For some young players, the NBA lifestyle is too much to
handle while others come out of college prepared to embrace the rapid NBA lifestyle, some struggle to
maintain their position in the league.
We recently sat down with rising stars Devin Booker, Marquis Chriss, Dwayne Bacon, Willie Cauley
Stein, and De Aaron Fox. They spoke about what life in the NBA is like as a rising young star.
What are some challenges that you face playing on a young team?
Booker: It s a dream come true, something I always wanted, I made a lot of sacrifices to be here. It s a
grown man league and every day I m working harder to get better.
Chriss: We re learning everything together, being so young we haven t experienced everything yet, I

Cognitive Dissonance Theory
Leon Festinger created the cognitive dissonance theory as an attempt to explain why people desire to
have consistency between their behaviors and actions. Cognitive dissonance is the distressing mental
state people feel when they find themselves doing things that don t fit with what they know, or having
opinions that do not fit with other opinions they hold (Festinger, 1957; as cited in Griffin, 2009). Thus,
people are motivated to change either their behavior or their belief when feelings of dissonance arise.
Dissonance is reduced using three mental strategies. Selective exposure is the strategy used before a
decision is made. The premise of this strategy is to avoid information that is likely to increase
dissonance. The second ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The difference between condition one and three is that condition three allowed the participants to self
affirm after finding out their verdict was in disagreement with the other group members. Festinger
argues that the lack of choice adds consonant cognitions which reduce the overall amount of
dissonance that otherwise would be experienced (Festinger, 1957, 1958; as cited in Matz Woods,
2005). Additionally, the opportunity to self affirm strengthens self worth and thereby reduces the
dissonance created when people s actions threaten their personal integrity (Simon, Greenberg, Brehm,
1995; as cited in Matz Woods, 2005). Thus, Matz and Woods hypothesize that dissonance will be
reduced by the lack of choice and the opportunity to self affirm. The results show low levels of
discomfort in the lack of choice and self affirmation conditions, providing an explanation of the kinds
of strategies people use to reduce dissonance. Study three introduces an interpersonal strategy
introduced by Festinger: changing one s own attitude to align with others opinions (Festinger, 1957; as
cited in Matz Woods, 2005). Building off of Festinger s idea of changing one s attitude three
conditions are used in this study. The three strategies used are: (a) changing one s own attitudes to
agree with others in the group, (b) influencing others to change their opinion, and (c) joining a
different, attitudinally congenial group. The end results show

The Negative Stereotypes About Bisexual Lifestyle
The second contributing factor is the negative stereotypes about bisexual lifestyle. The political
treachery of bisexual women resulted in their connection to sexual promiscuity. Lesbian women also
frequently accused bisexual women of being fence sitters who were able to choose between having a
heterosexual and a lesbian relationship. Katie Griffin, a therapist, once summarized her bisexual
experience into On any other day, I will be straight. If it s Wednesday, I must be Gay (1). In other
words, many see bisexual individuals as being 50% gay, 50% straight, and 100% non committal.
Griffin is certainly not alone in her experiences; in her clinical practice she found that many bisexual
women had to choose between lesbianism and heterosexuality (10). The fluidity of bisexuality creates
discomfort with women who had to go through the tedious process of pinpointing the gender they are
attracted to. Hence, lesbians see bisexuality as a transitional identity between heterosexuality and
lesbianism; notably, 83% lesbians agreed that some women claim to be bisexual when they are really
lesbians who are afraid to admit it (Rust, Neutralizing the Political Threat 9). Stone also notes in her
memoir that lesbians are often bitter about the straight passing privilege that bisexual women possess
(2). They claim that bisexual women are able to enjoy the benefits of the lesbian community without
receiving the discrimination that comes with it.
The ability of bisexuals to

As both student and Art Educator, I support the idea that we all should be free to practice laboratory

Culture And Culture In Maggie Walker s Everyday Use
Many times in life, it is required to make important decisions in tough situations, while other times
decisions are made quickly and easily. What is it that causes us to operate in a specific way or talk a
certain way in various situations? Although culture is often seen as the only factor of how we behave
and think, culture has just a moderate affect a person s mentality on the various situations in life. Parts
of a person s culture play a slight role in someone s ideas and actions. In the story, Everyday Use , a
mother and daughter are in a conflict over who will keep an old quilt, But they re priceless! Maggie
would put them on the bed and in five years they d be in rags (Walker 82). This excerpt provides the
reader with an example of both the power and the weakness of someone s cultural background. On the
strong end of culture, there is Maggie. Maggie is just like her mother and the rest of her family in the
sense that she is a home town and family oriented girl. However, her sister, Dee, was raised in the
same cultural environment, but has vastly different ideas and cultural perception. The cause of this
differentiation is due to factors outside of one s cultural background. Personality is a major reason for
the difference between the sisters, as both sisters have the same cultural roots, but are complete
opposites. The personality of a person greatly affects mentality and behavior. Although culture can
setup the foundation of views on life, it is personality that

Evidence-Based Decision-Making Model Analysis
Bethel University (2010) refers to the need to make the best decisions based on the data you have.
This is evidence based decision making (EBDM). Kreitner and Kinicki (2013) define EBDM as a
process of conscientiously using the best available data and evidence when making decisions. There is
a five step model to evidence based decision making that includes identifying the problem or
opportunity, gaither internal data or evidence about the problem and evaluate its relevance and
validity, gather external evidence about the problem from published research, gather views from the
stakeholders affected by the decisions and consider ethical implications, and integrate and critically

After VWF is made, it can follow a number of pathways. It can either be released into the plasma,

One of the main fibrinolysis enzymes is plasmin, this is an enzyme that comes from plasminogen, the
conversion of plasminogen to plasmin will incorporate 2 serine proteases. These serine proteases are

monocytes and macrophages. Two enzymes also differ in the fact that uPA has a lower affinity for
plasminogen compared to tPA. This process will stop and inhibit the buildup of fibrin, it also allows
the thrombus to be removed. The activation of plasminogen will form plasmin and this will degrade
the thrombus. Plasmin will terminate the clotting process. During this process, fibrin degradation

The Strategy For A Portfolio Management Strategies
This argument is flawed. In order to know performances of both strategies, both the shift direction and
shift size should taken into consideration. First, it is not appropriate to conclude that one strategy can
outperform another strategy in the category of active portfolios management strategies even though
under the condition that there is a steeping of the yield curve. Performances of different strategies are
various, different, even though under one same condition, since the detailed information of each
strategy is unknown. Theoretically, performances of two strategies depends on the detailed shift
situations (trend and size) of the yield curve. Second, the core method of the barbell strategy is
focusing on the exceeding situations. To be more specific, the barbell strategy concerns securities with
the longest and the shortest maturities. Meanwhile, the main approach of the ladder strategy is to build
a portfolio including securities with approximately equivalent maturities. Third, however, under some
situations, ladder strategy will outperform the barbell strategy. To be more precise, once the maturities
of these two strategies are same, and if the yield curve will experience a negative steepening trend, the
discount rate of the ladder strategy will be lower. Consequently, as the denominator of the ladder
strategy is smaller than that of the barbell strategy, the ladder strategy will beat the other one. Fourth,
on the other hand, if the maturities of these two

Revenant Movie Vs Book
Is the desire for revenge a basic component of human nature? The highly awarded movie The
Revenant is an epic story of Hugh Glass s mission to seek revenge on those who had wronged him.
The movie teaches many important life lessons, but they differ significantly in comparison to the book
it s based on. Not only does the story teach important lessons, it is a notable legend in American
folklore. The motion picture rendition of Michael Punke s book The Revenant changes the meaning of
the book because despite the similarities in the characters and the initial storyline the ending scene
redefines the book. The movie was able to portray the charter of Hugh Glass with uncanny accuracy to
how he was depicted in the book. Both the movie and book ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In both stories, Glass plays an important role in the trapping expedition that he is on. In the beginning
of the movie Glass is a guide for a return trip to a nearby fort after a successful trapping mission.
Similarly, in the novel, Glass is a guide on an expedition to inhabit a formerly abandoned fort. This is
a critical portion of the story because it is the first action that eventually develops the story into the
epic tale that it is. Another important aspect that both the book and film have is the conflict with the
ruthless native Ree tribe. In the book, the Ree tribe was intent on killing all the white settlers along the
Grand River. In comparison to the movie in which the Ree were killing American trappers along the
Grand River in an attempt to find the chief s missing daughter. The most significant section of the
book was when Glass was brutally mauled by ta bear. The book had a very detailed account of Glass
running into a large sow with her two cubs, and Glass was able to shoot the sow from close range as it
barreled towards him. The movie took a more theatrical approach with Glass being initially knocked
to the ground and mauled by the bear and then after it came back for a second attack he shot it.
Despite the discrepancies, both have a large sow accompanied by two cubs, and the cubs are the first
thing that he sees. Additionally, despite Glass s different initial run in with the bear he still shoots it as
it charges him for it to later die and fall on top of him. After being severely injured Glass is left behind
with John Fitzgerald and Jim Bridger. The book has the two abandon the camp to avoid being detected
by a Ree hunting party that is near their campsite and in the process, they take all of Glass s
possessions. The movie has the exact same thing happen except there was not an actual Ree hunting
party. Instead, Fitzgerald made up the lie so he could convince

The Parthenon of Athens was the temple of Athena Parthenos, known as the Greek goddess of
wisdom, and was built in the 5th century BC. According to Silverman (n.d.), this Doric peripteral
temple was built on the Acropolis in Athens to replace two earlier temples of Athena that were
destroyed by the Persians. The style of the Parthenon denotes clear Doric design. It has rectangular
base dimensions of 69.5 by 30.9 meters with low steps along each side and a cella length of 29.8

Excessive Global Energy Transition
Concerns about the consequences of excessive global warming have made energy transition a matter
of increasing interest. Carbon emissions from changing land cover and emissions of CH4 and N2O
from agricultural activities are significant contributors to the excessive global warming, but emissions
of CO2 from the combustion of fossil fuels remain the largest source (Vaclav 2016). Nevertheless,
there are empirical indicators that promoting the transition to the decarbonisation of current global
energy mix will necessitate the shift of energy systems towards a more sustainable configuration
(Loorbach and Rotmans 2010). This view is not only shared amongst the academia but also amongst
policy makers. But the big question is, is decarbonization in itself sustainable? Whereas the

The Brother Grimms Version Of Rapunzel
The Brother Grimms version of Rapunzel tells the story of a girl who was taken from her family as

character enters to save her. Rapunzel was taken by the enchantress as soon as her mother had given

The isolation of the lipophilic compounds found in marijuana led to the discovery of which
component caused the psychoactive affects, D9 THC, which is produced from an acid derivative

  • 2. Kingdom Animalia Essay Extra Credit Essays 1. Domain bacteria Single celled organisms, ( otherwise known as prokaryotic cells) that do not have a membrane protecting the cell. Bacteria can be found almost everywhere in the world. Domain eukarya All organisms grouped within the domain eukarya are also considered single celled. Eukaryotic cells are specifically grouped by the things each organism lives off, or by the things they eat individually. Domain archaea Along with bacteria the domain archaea is a prokaryote cell meaning it consists of one single cell. However archaeal organisms can be found in areas where the earth s most intense natural resources are present. Areas including Yellowstone National park where there are many geysers along with places including Hawaii. 2. Kingdom Protists these organisms solely do not depend on themselves to create food but on other living things. Kingdom plante this kingdom is made up of plants. Plants survive solely on photosynthesis. This basic way of nutrition. Kingdom fungi unlike the kingdom plante the members of the kingdom fungi, survive and live off of what is found in the soil beneath us. Fungi are considered to be decomposes meaning they decompose dead organisms which therefore becomes the food for their cells. Kingdom Animalia Humans are considered to be classified under the kingdom Animalia. Humans and many other animals eat other living organisms unlike the kingdom fungi. We survive on eating other living things. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Roe V. Wade ( 1973 ) Pamela Macie Davis Professor Joseph Devaney American Government, 5:15 6:30 MW 6 April 2015 Roe v. Wade (1973): Second Draft Norma McCorvey was a young woman who had dropped out of high school, divorced from her husband, and was raising her five year old daughter with very little money. She tried to obtain an abortion but was unable to under Texas law in 1969. At the time, Texas did not allow women to have abortions unless the mother s life was in danger. McCorvey had no choice but to carry the baby full term and give up the baby she wanted to abort. Her lawyer also introduced her to two recent graduates of the University of Texas Law School, Sarah Weddington and Linda Coffee. The three women decided to challenge the constitutionality of Texas s law and McCorvey became Jane Roe in a test case against Henry Wade, the criminal district attorney for Dallas County, Texas. Wade appealed to the Supreme Court the decision of a three judge federal district court striking down Texas s law. Justice Blackmun finally handed down the Court s opinion on January 23, 1973. The Court s decision was seven to two, and the majority s opinion was announced by Justice Blackmun. Chief Justice Burger and Justices Douglas and Stewart concurred; Justices Rehnquist and White dissented. Justice Blackmun delivered the opinion of the Court by saying, The principal thrust of appellant s attack on the Texas statutes is that they improperly invade a right, said to be possessed by the pregnant woman, ... • 4. Taking a Look a the Munchausen Syndrome Munchausen!!! If you know someone with munchausen syndrome, you know how bad the disease is. If you don t know someone with the disease, I will tell you all about it. the disease isn t very big or popular anymore, because not a lot of women don t have this disease anymore. I have done a lot of research, and most of the diagnoses were done in the 1900s, but the disease is still around some places. This disease is mostly diagnosed to women, because most men don t feel the need to these kind of things. Personally, I don t know anyone with the disease, but I have been doing research for a while and things do get really serious. The disease is when women, that have children, don t feel enough love from their kids so they poison their kids food, and when kids are sick, what do they usually want the most their momma. Then the kids want their mother and the mothers feel loved more that usual. Women with munchausen are putting the lives of innocent children in danger, some are even going to the extreme and taking their lives. Munchausen syndrome is a serious mental disorder in which someone with a deep need for attention pretends to be sick or gets sick or injured on purpose. People with Munchausen syndrome may make up symptoms, push for risky operations, or try to rig laboratory test results to try to win sympathy and concern.Typically, the cause is a need for attention and sympathy from doctors, nurses, and other professionals. Some experts believe that it isn t just the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Grad School At A Very Good Program When I met my former fiancé, we were both in grad school at a very good program, working on a mix of loans, grants, and small scholarships to make it through. Neither of us came from wealthy backgrounds, and our school was very expensive. We took refuge in the fact that we were the poor kids, surrounded by many wealthy people who did not have to worry about the same things that we did. And because we were both on the same (very strict) budget, when it came to things like dating and romance, we had very similar limits for what constituted a couple s night. I can count on one hand the times we went out to dinner together to a real restaurant, and our biggest hobby was probably getting creative with ramen recipes and watching our shared Netflix account. I loved it because it was him, but I admit that I was always envious of the other students around me who seemed to be able to live the way they wanted, without worrying about the cost. We both graduated within a year of each other, and both got jobs more or less in our chosen professions. I became a counselor at a charter school for underprivileged but gifted students, helping guide them into college and choose the best classes. My ex took a job doing research for a foundation involved with urban planning. We were the bright eyed, hopeful young couple living in Queens, trying to make the world a better place in our own naive way. We had a tiny apartment, and both earned meager salaries, but we were happy and in love. And ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Mary Warren In The Crucible In the Crucible there are a group of girls that go into the woods. They dance, chant, and some of them even took there clothes off. They were caught by Reverend Parris. He wasn t sure on what to think of it so he left it alone until that morning his daughter Betty was in bed sick. Parris and some others began to investigate the girls, because they expected witchcraft. There are many people in this tale that I could talk about, but the one I have chosen is Mary Warren. The reason for this is because in my opinion she really helped bring the story to the conclusion that it did. Whether she meant to, or not. She also had a change of heart in the play, more than once. So now we shall indulge ourselves into the significance of this character and what role she truly plays. Mary Warren is a young girl, 18 years of age. She lived as a servant to John and Elizabeth Procter. She is one of the many girls that went into the woods to dance . After the girls were caught they tried to take the attention of of themselves and put it on others. This caused a big commotion, that in the end caused many people to lose their lives. The girls were saying that people are witches in order to save there own lives. Marry being one of these girls was not completely happy with what she was doing. ... Knowing good and well that Mary was going to give the poppet to Elizabeth, Abigail took a needle and stabbed herself and accused Elizabeth of witchcraft. What this had done, was that the men from the court came to the Proctors house looking for a poppet which they found and found the needle in its stomach. • 8. Durability Lab Report Abstract This report discusses the testing of the durability of the Ultra Thin Lifestyle, Trojan, and Durex Condoms by putting ball bearings in each condom until it broke for 3 trial runs. They are commonly known as a rubber layer used when having intercourse and is considered a safe haven because it helps prevent pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections in this case, we used ultra thin rubber sheaths. Our hypothesis was that if Lifestyle cost more than Durex and Trojan, then Lifestyle would have the most durability. We gathered our materials which included gloves, sealed condoms, ball bearings, and a plastic bin. We took the mass of one ball bearing before starting to know how to calculate how much intake each condom can endure and started putting them into each condom until it broke. Our findings were that the durability of each brand was extremely inconsistent during the three trial experiment. In addition, it meant we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To begin, we used an electronic balance to measure the mass of one ball bearing in grams and the mass was recorded on a separate sheet of paper. We then positioned a bin on the floor below the workspace. The Durex Ultra Thin condom was removed from its package and held open over the bin. Ball bearings were added to the condom until the condom broke. The number of ball bearings that it took to break the condom was recorded on a separate sheet of paper. These steps were repeated two more times, using Trojan Ultra Thin condoms the second time, and LifeStyles Ultra Thin condoms the third time. This entire process was repeated two more times until all three brands were tested with three trials. Once all the results for the trials were recorded, the the mass a condom could hold before breaking was calculated for each trial for every brand. • 9. Taking a Look at Literary Deconstructionism What is literary deconstructionism? According to the Merriam Webster dictionary deconstructionism is the literary analysis that questions the fundamental conceptual distinctions, or oppositions , in Western philosophy through a close examination of the language and logic of philosophical and literary texts . In other words it means that the reader makes the text what they want it to be, they cannot assume that the writer is implying anything by the words he has written; the text can have a different meaning to each person that reads it. Deconstructionism has been closely related to the postmodernism era as they both tend to resist definition or classification. According to Clark Morrow in the July 2007 The Vocabula Review, most people consider the theory that words are very indistinct tokens of meaning; and can yield any number of meanings as deconstructionism, while others call it postmodernism; as stated previously these two literary eras are closely linked. Deconstructionism theory states that can be no misinterpretation of what you read, the writer may intend to have one meaning of the text but each person that reads it can all take away different meanings from it. Deconstructionism began in the mid 1960 s, and peaked during the 1970 s; by a man name Jacques Derrida. Derrida was born in July 1930 in El Bian, Algeria and died October 8, 2004 in Paris, France; he graduated with his baccaulaureat in 1948 from the Jewish lycee`. After graduation he went on to the ... • 10. Pan1 And Genetic Domain Structures In contrast to Sc, Ca, and Mo that share the Pan1 Las17/Bee1 endocytic pathway, Cn appears to adopt a distinct Cin1 Wsp1 endocytic pathway for transport, growth, and virulence [22]. Both Cin1 and Wsp1 display domain structures similar, but not identical, to human ITSN1 and WASp than to Sc/Ca Pan1 and Las17/Bee1 [23, 24]. These findings suggest a unique intracellular transport process occurring in Cn and raise several important questions. As endocytic proteins function by interacting with other partner proteins, what are the other binding partners of Cin1 in the pathway? Does Cin1 mediated endocytic pathway contribute to specific virulence characteristics? We are uniquely positioned to address these critical questions. In terms of domain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The intriguing finding that Cin1 S confers a CNS survival advantage provides a novel avenue to probe the CNS propensity of Cn. Finally, given the importance of exRNA in intercellular cellular communication, it is tempting to speculate that Cin1 regulates uptake and export of exRNA to play a role in host pathogen interactions and pathogenesis. Because of our recent advances, we believe we may possess an unprecedented system to probe the mechanism of pathogenesis in Cn. C. Approach Cn is a haploid budding yeast with a well defined life cycle. It also has proven to be a tractable research model in which classical and molecular approaches, as well as both in vitro and in vivo models, are available for studying host pathogen interactions and pathogenesis. In addition, genomic and proteomic approaches including microarray, whole transcriptome shotgun sequencing (RNA Seq), and proteomics have all been employed to study pathogenesis of Cn [35 37]. This well established model organism and available research resources will be invaluable for us to pursue our research goals. In Cn, Cin1 is required for the endocytic transport of the lipophilic styryl dye FM4 64, normal morphology, proper localization of a Lac1 DsRed fusion protein, mating, and the production of capsule, urease, and phospholipases [22]. Cin1 also regulates the actin cytoskeleton upstream of the WASp homolog Wsp1 and Cdc42 [23, 24]. This pleiotropic function is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Nutrition Intake Log Analysis Nutrition Intake Log Over the period of three day I kept a food record to analyze my nutrient intake. Keeping this food log allowed me to see what and how much nutrients I was getting from the foods I was consuming. I quickly realized that I had been missing out on some key nutrients, vitamins, and minerals needed for a healthy life style. Without analyzing your intake, it is hard to see what nutrients you are getting and if you are getting enough of them. This food record allowed me to see how I can better improve my diet and achieve a healthier lifestyle. Nutrients and Minerals I am 20 years old, five feet eleven inches, and I weight about 205 pounds. It is recommended that I intake 2800 calories per day, but as I am trying to lose weight ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As I said before I am trying to lose weight, and this showed me that calories and exercise are not the only things I need to focus on. I realized that I consume more protein and carbohydrates than I need and both of those get stored as fat if not used. I also consume too much sodium which can have negative effects on the hear. Sodium makes blood volume increase which makes the heart have to work harder, and over time this leads to high blood pressure, heat attack, stoke, and even heart failure (Harvard 2016). In regards to this I need to cut down on my sodium intake to increase my heart health. Calcium and Potassium are two key minerals need for life and I am lacking in both areas. Calcium helps build and repair tissue, and without it, overtime bones can deteriorate (National Institute of Health 2016). I am not too short of my calcium goal, but I need to maintain and good calcium intake to maintain good bone health. Potassium is also an electrolyte, a substance that conducts electricity in the body, and with my sever lack of potassium intake I am at risk for heart disease (UMM 2015). Lastly I need to make sure I am getting enough of my vitamins. I lack the right amounts of Vitamins C, D, and E. Lack of vitamin can cause many symptoms such as fatigue, shortness of breath, dizziness, irregular heart beats, muscle weakness, personality changes, unsteady movements, or mental confusion (Mayoclinic.org 2016). • 12. The Pros And Cons Of General Intelligence Tests It is notable to mention that the individual s attainment measured by general intelligence tests are indeed broader and the products of less formal and usually less recent learning experiences compared to the ones measured by standardized achievement tests (Aiken, 2003c). Cohen et al. (2013b) regarded that the primary purpose for this kind of measure is that it focuses on the test taker s level of comprehension in the different subject matters. These types of tests are commonly structured to include several subject areas divided into subtests and are most typically identified as test batteries. Interestingly, achievement tests often serve as better predictors of school ratings than tests of intelligence or special abilities. This does not connote, however, that test of achievement in a specific subject can entirely replace tests of intelligence and special abilities. The accomplishments or achievements determined by general intelligence tests are usually extensive and formed by less formal and probably less recent learning experiences than those measured by standardized tests of achievement. Moreover, for the reason that achievement tests usually evaluate knowledge of information that has been methodically taught, scores on these tests are more influenced by coaching than scores on intelligence tests. There are a number of purposes carried out by achievement tests, the basic one is to determine how much an individual know about certain topics or how well one can perform ... My face will become weathered granite. My lips will wither, and my voice will be ground back into sharp ugly bits. I ll become the gargoyle again, but this time by my own choice. (Davidson 314). In the story of The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson, it contains the very valuable and meaningful lessons that those can be huge impact on every others and eventually can change the world we are lived in. This quote is from when the moment of decision is made on the cliff by the narrator, he decides to confront his brutal reality and try his best to survive in the most desperate situation; most importantly, his decision would not be made without the continuous help of Marianne Engel. When I was in the depression for very long time after losing significant amount of valuable elements in my life such as money, time, relationship, and more, the one approached to me with a helping hand, who gave me the motivation to face the reality and survive. The Role of Economic Theory Economic theory is an essential part in economic research, and even more so when discussing the development of city projects. The idea that the implementation of policies in budgetary issues would improve people s lives is attractive to budget administrators and city administrators alike (Varian, 1989). In fact, it is most useful for evaluating the answers to common problems faced by local organizations. The determining factor is based on the approach taken to evaluate the effectiveness of the project. The use of Cost Benefit Analysis in City Projects , such as the Sanford Riverwalk, provides strategic analysis and planning of the recreational incentives for city residents. The city is based around surrounding popular cities known for their parks and recreation. The City of Altamonte Springs, Daytona Beach, and the City of Orlando are known for their state parks and touristic areas. Because the development of such a project would contribute to a competitive market and enhance the face value of the city, it is part of the overall analysis of the research conducted on this particular project. According to Merriam Webster Dictionary, and hero is in mythological or legendary figure often of divine descent in Dallas with great strength or ability. Dictionary.com describes a hero as someone noted for courageous acts on nobility of character or someone who in the opinion of others has special achievements, abilities, or personal qualities and is regarded as a role model or Idol. My personal definition is someone who is seen as sort of a higher up position but has a fatal flaw that inevitably leads to their downfall. • 18. Can Money Buy Happiness Analysis In the informational text, Can Money Buy Happiness? , the central idea is by spending money unselfishly, can bring joy to both to giver and the receiver . For instance, in the informational text, Professor Elizabeth Dunn conducted a research in 2008. She gave cash to two groups of students. She told one group to spend cash on themselves and the other to spend it on someone else. Which group turned out out be happier? The group that spent the money on others. (Scope Magazine pg 26) According to the research, it is clear that spending money unselfishly brings joy to oneself, but does the character Jerry from, President Cleveland, Where Are You? agree with the central idea of Can Money Buy Happiness? Jerry would probably have disagreed with the central idea. First of all, Jerry spent the money to bring Armand, his older brother, to a dance. This could be confirmed in the text when Armand was dressed up in a suit with new shoes when before he only had some old shoes that were falling apart. Where he got the suit? It was from Jerry. I needed that five dollars it was an emergency (Comier pg 29) Jerry spent the five dollars on Armand, although Jerry feels regretful. Jerry spent money on Armand for love, even though he never agreed with love. I was glad I had never become involved with love love that bought desperation to your eyes, that caused you to write letters you did not plan to send. (Comier pg 28) Jerry also muttered Love when he saw Armand, Jerry obviously regretted his decision but at the same time he thought he would feel happy. Secondly, Jerry may have not felt happy because he was forced to spend the money unselfishly. Think about it, he never felt like giving the money to Armand for the cause of love but it felt he forced himself to give him the money, or like someone gave him a command to do it. This is implied when Armand thought Jerry a lesson. It s all right, he (Armand) said gently. Maybe you learned something. The words were gentle but they held a curious dignity, the dignity remaining even when his voice cracked on the last syllable. • 20. Married With A Family Vs Single Life Married with a family Vs Single life. Marriage is a beautiful aspect in a persons life. When a person is single they tend to live a life that is a different kind of lifestyle. Marriage is when one person scarifies their needs to help fulfill the other person s needs that they love and care for. While being single, that person only cares about themselves and fulfill s their own needs with what makes them happy. The contrasts between being married with a family and being single are freedom, communication, and financial issues. To begin with, being married with a family comes with responsibilities such as having less freedom. By having less freedom the wife or husband takes care of the kids which takes a lot of the time. Also having jobs can take up the freedom of a marriage couple. When a person is single they have all the freedom they want. Being single they can do whatever they desire such as going out, having the time of their life. Also, they are not tied down to another person. In some situations if a married couple doesn t have kids that can mean here freedom consist of spending time with there spouse which take up the other spouse or both of there time and freedom. They have no idea the body of work that players put together throughout the years just to get to the NBA. For the lucky few making it to the NBA is the easy part, maintaining their longevity in the league is the hard part. Which is why all the great players eat, sleep, and breathe basketball. That obsessive quality is what made players such as Kobe Bryant, and Micheal Jordan great. Before Jordan, and Bryant was known as The Black Mamba, and Air Jordan they were young players in the NBA going through the pitfalls, and growing pains of making it first as a rotation player, then as one of the league main attractions. For some young players, the NBA lifestyle is too much to handle while others come out of college prepared to embrace the rapid NBA lifestyle, some struggle to maintain their position in the league. We recently sat down with rising stars Devin Booker, Marquis Chriss, Dwayne Bacon, Willie Cauley Stein, and De Aaron Fox. They spoke about what life in the NBA is like as a rising young star. • 22. Cognitive Dissonance Theory Leon Festinger created the cognitive dissonance theory as an attempt to explain why people desire to have consistency between their behaviors and actions. Cognitive dissonance is the distressing mental state people feel when they find themselves doing things that don t fit with what they know, or having opinions that do not fit with other opinions they hold (Festinger, 1957; as cited in Griffin, 2009). Thus, people are motivated to change either their behavior or their belief when feelings of dissonance arise. Dissonance is reduced using three mental strategies. Selective exposure is the strategy used before a decision is made. The premise of this strategy is to avoid information that is likely to increase dissonance. The second ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The difference between condition one and three is that condition three allowed the participants to self affirm after finding out their verdict was in disagreement with the other group members. Festinger argues that the lack of choice adds consonant cognitions which reduce the overall amount of dissonance that otherwise would be experienced (Festinger, 1957, 1958; as cited in Matz Woods, 2005). Additionally, the opportunity to self affirm strengthens self worth and thereby reduces the dissonance created when people s actions threaten their personal integrity (Simon, Greenberg, Brehm, 1995; as cited in Matz Woods, 2005). Thus, Matz and Woods hypothesize that dissonance will be reduced by the lack of choice and the opportunity to self affirm. The results show low levels of discomfort in the lack of choice and self affirmation conditions, providing an explanation of the kinds of strategies people use to reduce dissonance. Study three introduces an interpersonal strategy introduced by Festinger: changing one s own attitude to align with others opinions (Festinger, 1957; as cited in Matz Woods, 2005). Building off of Festinger s idea of changing one s attitude three conditions are used in this study. The three strategies used are: (a) changing one s own attitudes to agree with others in the group, (b) influencing others to change their opinion, and (c) joining a different, attitudinally congenial group. • 23. The Negative Stereotypes About Bisexual Lifestyle The second contributing factor is the negative stereotypes about bisexual lifestyle. The political treachery of bisexual women resulted in their connection to sexual promiscuity. Lesbian women also frequently accused bisexual women of being fence sitters who were able to choose between having a heterosexual and a lesbian relationship. Katie Griffin, a therapist, once summarized her bisexual experience into On any other day, I will be straight. If it s Wednesday, I must be Gay (1). In other words, many see bisexual individuals as being 50% gay, 50% straight, and 100% non committal. Griffin is certainly not alone in her experiences; in her clinical practice she found that many bisexual women had to choose between lesbianism and heterosexuality (10). The fluidity of bisexuality creates discomfort with women who had to go through the tedious process of pinpointing the gender they are attracted to. Hence, lesbians see bisexuality as a transitional identity between heterosexuality and lesbianism; notably, 83% lesbians agreed that some women claim to be bisexual when they are really lesbians who are afraid to admit it (Rust, Neutralizing the Political Threat 9). Stone also notes in her memoir that lesbians are often bitter about the straight passing privilege that bisexual women possess (2). They claim that bisexual women are able to enjoy the benefits of the lesbian community without receiving the discrimination that comes with it. The ability of bisexuals to ... Culture And Culture In Maggie Walker s Everyday Use Many times in life, it is required to make important decisions in tough situations, while other times decisions are made quickly and easily. What is it that causes us to operate in a specific way or talk a certain way in various situations? Although culture is often seen as the only factor of how we behave and think, culture has just a moderate affect a person s mentality on the various situations in life. Parts of a person s culture play a slight role in someone s ideas and actions. In the story, Everyday Use , a mother and daughter are in a conflict over who will keep an old quilt, But they re priceless! On the strong end of culture, there is Maggie. Maggie is just like her mother and the rest of her family in the sense that she is a home town and family oriented girl. However, her sister, Dee, was raised in the same cultural environment, but has vastly different ideas and cultural perception. The cause of this differentiation is due to factors outside of one s cultural background. Personality is a major reason for the difference between the sisters, as both sisters have the same cultural roots, but are complete opposites. In order to know performances of both strategies, both the shift direction and shift size should taken into consideration. First, it is not appropriate to conclude that one strategy can outperform another strategy in the category of active portfolios management strategies even though under the condition that there is a steeping of the yield curve. Performances of different strategies are various, different, even though under one same condition, since the detailed information of each strategy is unknown. Theoretically, performances of two strategies depends on the detailed shift situations (trend and size) of the yield curve. Second, the core method of the barbell strategy is focusing on the exceeding situations. To be more specific, the barbell strategy concerns securities with the longest and the shortest maturities. Meanwhile, the main approach of the ladder strategy is to build a portfolio including securities with approximately equivalent maturities. Third, however, under some situations, ladder strategy will outperform the barbell strategy. To be more precise, once the maturities of these two strategies are same, and if the yield curve will experience a negative steepening trend, the discount rate of the ladder strategy will be lower. Consequently, as the denominator of the ladder strategy is smaller than that of the barbell strategy, the ladder strategy will beat the other one. Not only does the story teach important lessons, it is a notable legend in American folklore. The motion picture rendition of Michael Punke s book The Revenant changes the meaning of the book because despite the similarities in the characters and the initial storyline the ending scene redefines the book. In the beginning of the movie Glass is a guide for a return trip to a nearby fort after a successful trapping mission. Similarly, in the novel, Glass is a guide on an expedition to inhabit a formerly abandoned fort. This is a critical portion of the story because it is the first action that eventually develops the story into the epic tale that it is. Another important aspect that both the book and film have is the conflict with the ruthless native Ree tribe. In the book, the Ree tribe was intent on killing all the white settlers along the Grand River. In comparison to the movie in which the Ree were killing American trappers along the Grand River in an attempt to find the chief s missing daughter. The most significant section of the book was when Glass was brutally mauled by ta bear. The book had a very detailed account of Glass running into a large sow with her two cubs, and Glass was able to shoot the sow from close range as it barreled towards him. The movie took a more theatrical approach with Glass being initially knocked to the ground and mauled by the bear and then after it came back for a second attack he shot it. Despite the discrepancies, both have a large sow accompanied by two cubs, and the cubs are the first thing that he sees. Additionally, despite Glass s different initial run in with the bear he still shoots it as it charges him for it to later die and fall on top of him. After being severely injured Glass is left behind with John Fitzgerald and Jim Bridger. The book has the two abandon the camp to avoid being detected by a Ree hunting party that is near their campsite and in the process, they take all of Glass s possessions. Nevertheless, there are empirical indicators that promoting the transition to the decarbonisation of current global energy mix will necessitate the shift of energy systems towards a more sustainable configuration (Loorbach and Rotmans 2010). This view is not only shared amongst the academia but also amongst policy makers. But the big question is, is decarbonization in itself sustainable? Whereas the decarbonization of energy mix is appreciated, but given that the remaining hydrocarbons; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Arguably, it represents the most profound global transformation of the 21st Century. While Canada Energy Transition points to risks and challenges, an equally important insight is that, energy transition is the golden opportunity of our age, providing a chance to secure the future of our energy, save the environment and make the world a better place. Thus, economies who respond to the attendant challenges of transition with innovative solutions will prosper the most, drawing from the proven correlation between GDP and GHG emission. However, fewer places are better positioned than Canada in terms of resource, knowledge, experience and financial capacity to lead and excel in this area, as such transition can only guarantee the sustainably of Canada s energy future. Also, while there is still a long road ahead, Canada s progress towards transitioning to sustainable energy systems, with Ontario and Alberta leading the way, offers a fascinating example for other ... Violence In Wuthering Heights Research Paper The Duality of Violence and Passivity in Relation to Environment in Wuthering Heights Characters in Wuthering Heights exemplify the effect of dual natures and the destructive impact such internal struggles can have on filial relations. The Brother Grimms Version Of Rapunzel The Brother Grimms version of Rapunzel tells the story of a girl who was taken from her family as soon as she was born and kept in custody until adulthood. When examining the story from a feminist perspective, it becomes apparent that Rapunzel is a character that is given no choices of her own. She is forced to follow all of the enchantress instructions and is not able to live her own life until a male character enters to save her. Rapunzel was taken by the enchantress as soon as her mother had given birth to her. She was taken away due to the fact that her father had given her up due to fear in a certain situation. Right off the bat of this story, both Rapunzel and her mother are treated as objects. The father completely disregards the fact that Rapunzel is a human being and she is his and his wife s daughter. Not even consulting his wife before making this decision. I can t help but wonder why he didn t consult his wife before giving up the rights to their child, it s as if he feels that ... The story reads, Rapunzel grew into the most beautiful child under the sun. When she was twelve years old, the enchantress shut her into a tower, which lay in a forest, and had neither stairs nor door, but quite at the top was a little window. The preceding quotation poses the question of what if Rapunzel did not grow up to be a beautiful child? If Rapunzel had not grown up to be beautiful, would the enchantress have treated her differently? And what if this child was not the female Rapunzel was, would the enchantress still lock her away in the tall tower away from everyone that could view her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The isolation of the lipophilic compounds found in marijuana led to the discovery of which component caused the psychoactive affects, D9 THC, which is produced from an acid derivative caused by the heating of the cannabis leaves. It was not until the late 1980s that D9 THC was found to bind to two G protein coupled cell membrane receptors, consequently named the cannabinoid type 1 (CB1) and type 2 (CB2) receptors, to exert its effects. Thereafter, anandamide and 2 arachidonoylglycerol, CB1 and CB2 endogenous ligands, were identified in animals andnamed endocannabinoids.16 CB1 receptors are found primarily in the brain but also in several peripheral tissues. CB2 receptors are mainly found in immune and hematopoietic cells, but can become upregulated in other tissues. (Devinsky, 2014, p. 793). Cannabinoid, a component of cannabis, does not active CB1 and CB2 receptors therefore it does not produce any psychoactive effects within the body. However cannabinoid or CBD is beneficial medically because it counter acts some of the function inhibitors D9 THC causes in the CB1 receptor, thus allowing cannabis to be more tolerable and increase the therapeutic ...
