In both characters, Lear and Larry banishes their daughter, Cordelia and Caroline, due to his pride and
blindness. However, in King Lear , Lear gave his power to his daughter who do not actually love him.
Afterword s Lear realizes he was wrong and his youngest daughter Cordelia was the good one. In A
Thousand Acres , Larry accuses Rose and Ginny even though it is wrong about treating him badly and
become blinder as the story goes on. Caroline and Cordelia both stick by their father, even after he
shuns them but Caroline is ignorant, as she does not see her father s true side that her sisters know of.
In King Lear , Goneril and Regan betray Lear by shutting him down after he gave them his power.
Unlike Goneril and Regan, Ginny and Rose only deny Larry s requests for his safety, not because they
are selfish. These motifs are similar but have been flipped around in the two works. Instead of Ginny
and Regan being selfish, Larry is the bad guy, who does not learn from his mistakes. Jess is also
similar to Edmund, as he did something not socially acceptable by leaving the farm and returning
years later. However, he never did anything extremely cruel or evil that causes death and havoc, like

Sydney Carton Character Analysis
In A Tale of Two Cities, Charles Dickens thorough development of each character and skillful use of
coincidence prevents anyone from fading into insignificance; every character in the novel plays a role
vital to the evolution of the plotline. Perhaps more impressive than his ability to place every single
character in a significant role, Dickens uses the element of surprise to introduce the magnitude of
various roles. Sydney Carton, in particular, seems to play a rather insignificant part in much of the
novel, resulting from his self admitted worthlessness. Carton s continual and somewhat irritating self
criticism primes him for a surprising acquisition of influence at the conclusion; an inconsequential life
becomes the novel s hero in an ending which few anticipate. Carton expresses regret over his
unfruitful life multiple times, agonizing over the idea of not having the opportunity to alter it. Dickens
creates a final set of circumstances that are traumatic for much of the novel s characters; Carton,
however, sees the situation as the perfect chance to finally do something meaningful with his life. In
an ironic yet sensible twist, the only way Carton can redeem his wasted life is by losing it. In light of
the nature of his life up to the conclusion of the novel, he does not merit the Christ figure label until
his final act of sacrifice. Charles Dickens unexpectedly transforms a wretched Sydney Carton into a
symbol of Christ through the character s displays of selflessness,

Civic culture In Yugoslavia Essay
One definition of ethnicity reads as followed identity with or membership in a particular racial,
national, or cultural group and observance of that group s customs, beliefs, or language . Ethnicity
defines many of us but a few want our definition to be cleansed and this is when civil conflict arises.
Ethnicity is frequently cited as an explanation for conflicts in the post cold war era. Yugoslavia, a
prime example of a system that encountered ethnic conflict that led to a violent civil war, consisted of
six republics and two autonomous districts. The government at the time wanted control of these
republics but the republics wanted to be free from government control. There was a push by several
ethnic groups to form their own sovereign ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These congruities of blood, speech, custom, and so on, are seen to have an ineffable, and at times
overpowering, coerciveness in and of themselves. One is bound to one s kinsman, one s neighbor, one
s fellow believer, ipso facto; as a result not merely of personal affection, practical necessity, common
interest, or incurred obligation but at least in great part by virtue of some unaccountable absolute
import attributed to the very tie itself. The general strength of such primordial bonds, and the types of
them that are important, differ from person to person, from society to society, and from time to time.
But for virtually every person, in every society, at almost all times, some attachments seem to flow
more from a sense of natural some would say spiritual affinity than from social interaction. The
cultural primordialist is easier to accept in today s modern world. For primordialists, ethnic bonds and
hatreds are fundamental to one s identity, meaning that conflicts between ethnic groups are inevitable.
Conflicts will by definition be extremely brutal and violent because there is no room for compromise
on one s spiritual ties and cultural beliefs.
Instrumentalist, the second field of thought is when you can differentiate groups from tribes and
identity is situational. In modernization it changes the class system within society but does not
necessarily lead to conflict. Instrumentalism is when ethnic conflict occurs when it

Point Of View Of The Progantist Hushpuppy
The film Beast of the Southern Wild is a coming of age movie, which is told in the point of view of
the progantist Hushpuppy. Hushpuppy is a six year old girl living on the outskirts of society in the
Bathtub. Through the lenses and point of view of Hushpuppy, the audience is about to see the human
experiences of Hushpuppy s transition from dependence to independence and learning how to survive
in the environment she lives in. Through the use of adult figures, motifs, and overall ways Hushpuppy
learns how to be connected to her environment, Hushpuppy is able to unfurl her story of how she
learned how to survive in a small town called the Bathtub. When the movie first starts, the viewers are

The use of motifs throughout the film helped reveal the story in a way that is completely unique to the
point of view of Hushpuppy. During the same speech Miss Bathsheba gives, Hushpuppy is also
introduced to aurochs. Aurochs are extincts beasts that are frozen in the caps of the South pole. From
this scene on, the audience is shown multiple shots of the beasts. These beasts are usually portrayed
when Hushpuppy exhibits signs of fear or a change in Hushpuppy s outlook. By molding the aurochs
into the sequence of the film, this adds to the feeling of childish wonder. Moreover, it helps the viewer
connect with Hushpuppy s fear. For example, there is a scene in the movie where Hushpuppy comes
face to face with her fear and the aurochs. This is the moment where her father is ill and dying. She
has to combat her fear of the aurochs. She does this by not running. She turns around and stares at the
aurochs. The aurochs eventually lay down and sniff her in a sense of acceptance. It was at this point
where Hushpuppy says You re my friend, kind of. I gotta take care of mines (Zeitlin 2012). This scene
is one of the most important scenes in how Hushpuppy helps unreveal the storyline. This is the end of
the movie, and she faces her fears and stand up against this large, beast that she has been dreaming

The Research Into Leisure Constraints
As more models of analysis are being made around the research of leisure there has been a shift in
terminology. There has been a movement away from the term barrier to the more inclusive term
constraint. In addition, we do not mean to imply that the existence of barriers automatically leads to
non participation in leisure activities. Individuals are not passive; instead, they often successfully or
unsuccessfully negotiate through constraints (Jackson, 1995; Crawford et al, 1991).
There have been many models developed to analyze the literature on constraints/ barriers. Many of
these models have been criticized for their lack of insight into an individual s decision making process
and their static approach. What is evident is that there is no consensus on what is the best model or
approach to take. The research into leisure constraints continues to grow. As far as leisure participation
or nonparticipation are concerned...constraints are encountered hierarchically, first at the interpersonal
level. Leisure preferences are formed when interpersonal constraints (eg. stress, socialization,
perceived self skill) are absent or their effects have been confronted through some combination of
privilege and exercise of human will. Next, depending on the type of activity, the individual may
encounter constraints at the interpersonal level (eg. interpersonal interactions); this could happen in
activities requiring at least one partner or co participant but would be less relevant in the

The Process of Decision Making Essay
Organizational behavior helps managers to improve the organization in a good way. Decision making
process is the one of the behavior in human organizational behavior. According to McShane and Von
Glinow (2000), decision making a conscious process of making choices among one or more
alternatives with the intention of moving toward some desired state of affairs . Decision making is a
linear process and it includes six steps such as identifying the problems, gather and evaluate data, list
and evaluate alternatives, select best action, implement the decision and getter feedback (refer to

As stated by Prasad (2008), the managers should identify the different choices available in order to get
most acceptable outcome of a decision. From searching different alternatives the managers can evade
blocks in operations as choices are suitable if a particular idea goes wrong. Khanka (2000) expresses
the view that selections can developed from in many ways such as can get from sources like
experience, do training other organizations, and take others ideas and suggestions related in problems.
Furthermore to improve alternatives solution the managers may investigation the signs of a problem
for clues or fall back on intuition or result that stated by Griffin and Moorhead (2010). For an example
in marketing department a non programmed decision is compulsory the manager have to produce
alternatives for raise market share. As McShane and Von Glinow (2000) pointed out that in a
programmed decision is a standard operations is not to generate choice but can take out from the

words they need to define what is to be accomplished by it (Quick Nelson, 2013). The decision criteria

Canadian vs. American Constitution
A governmental system is required in each aspect of our lives to maintain justice and regulate order
through a reasonable and unbiased approach. Rules and regulations need to be implemented within
society to ensure that the fundamental freedoms of individuals are guaranteed, both equally and
justifiably. This paper will discuss the importance and relevance of constitutions to our everyday lives,
with a particular focus on the Canadian Constitution and how it essentially allows us to live in a
democratic and free society. According to Christopher E. Taucer, constitutions empower the
government by setting out bodies with authority and their powers and limits on that authority, (2001,

The primary provincial responsibilities include the power to tax, education, natural resources and
health.
The executive branch of the United States consists of the President, Governors and their Cabinets. The
Canadian executive branch is composed of the Queen or her representative the Governor General, the
prime Minister and the Cabinet. The integration of the court system is much different from the US
court structure. Provincial courts in Canada deal with less serious criminal and civil matters. All courts
above provincial courts are in the same system, all the way through to the Supreme Court of Canada.
Half of all judges, and all those sitting on superior courts, are appointed and paid by the federal
government. The US court structure is much more complicated, reflecting s greater historical and
constitutional status. The US has two parallel judicial systems: federal and state. The independent state
court systems have variable rules for appointment and election of judges, including the tenure. The
parallel federal court system in the US decides disputes between states and in state cases where one
party is out of state.
The supreme court of Canada has final authority over all public and private law, which includes
municipal, provincial, and federal law. The Supreme Court of the United States has a more limited
mandate; it deals only in federal legislation and the US Constitution. It plays no role over private law

Due to strong usage; idiomatic expressions have infiltrated people s daily conversations. One certain

behind idiomatic expressions is to get an exaggerated or ironic point across in order to express a

conceited people. There may be a bystander who is trying to hook up (this is also an idiomatic
expression) with some a random bystander who is much more attractive but then gets rejected.
Someone who may have witnessed the situation may say that the person being rejected was being too
big for his britches . This is a form of changing context situation in order for the idiom to fit in place.
Southern people in particular like to manipulate the meaning slightly so that its usage can be expanded
to different situations. Other than that change there is no prominent change or context meaning within

The Jive is a very lively and fast paced dance that contains a great amount of energy. It begins with a
smooth glide movement to the side. The basic look and feel of jive is that it is performed with lots and
lots of energy, with the legs portraying a pumping action. Although the jive contains two fast paced
dancers, they dance in unison as they begin. In the jive there is a great amount of footwork.. Although
jive dancers may appear to be moving their feet haphazardly in every direction, the feet are actually
well controlled under the body with the knees close together. Once they are done dancing in unison,
they begin to come together and dance in a smooth, but fast pace. The man is always going to lead this

Modern Potentials And Applications Of Ferrofluids
Ferrofluids are nanoscopic shards of magnetic particles suspended in organic fluids or water. What are
the modern potentials and applications of ferrofluids? Ferrofluids have current applications in a
variety of fields and continue to have potentials for further advancements in others. With research of
the first ferrofluid in 1963 by Steven Papell with N.A.S.A., ferrofluids have been used to provide
advancements in the field of technology. In modern times, ferrofluids are used in speakers for their

Manette Vs Carton
A Tale of Two Cities depicts what life was like before and during the French Revolution. Many heroes
emerge as people continue to die from the guillotine. Charles Darnay, Dr. Manette, and Sydney Carton
become heroes by saving each other and themselves. Charles Darnay lives in what seems as a life of
luxury to the people around him. He is an Evremonde, and he is not proud to have the family name as
they have a history of repressing the people. When his uncle, the Marquis, is murdered, Darnay leaves
the chateau to Gabelle to take care of it as he makes his way to London to begin a new life as Charles
Darnay. This courageous act of leaving everything that is known to him to create a new life for
himself makes Darnay a hero. He goes to London ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They use this to their advantage again when Darnay is sentenced to death in Paris after being
denounced and found guilty; however, the real Darnay does not have his head severed off by the
guillotine s blade. Carton is able to take his spot, freeing Darnay to be with Lucie. This keeps his
promise to Lucie that he would do anything for Lucie and anyone dear to her heart. Carton makes this
promise before any of them depart to Paris since he knew Lucie could never love him the way he
loves her. Hours before the execution, he comes into Darnay s cell that Barsad unlocks. Carton drugs
Darnay until he passes out, allowing them to switch places. Barsad takes Darnay to safety while
Carton makes his way to his death. ... it was the peacefullest man s face ever beheld there ... he looked
sublime and prophetic (Dickens 366). Even though Darnay and Dr. Manette are courageous, Carton
has the most heroic actions. He gives away his life, so Lucie can live a long and happy one with
Darnay. Carton could have let Darnay die and return to London with the Manettes, hoping that Lucie
would love him. Instead, he brings purpose back into his life by sacrificing himself for the happiness
of those that are dear to him. It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far

Dbq New Imperialism
Many times throughout history imperialism has been practiced by various major super powers of the
world. For example, Western Europe decided they would extend their power after the Industrial
Revolution since they became so wealthy from it. They expanded their empires into Africa, India and
China. This is known as the New Imperialism. The desire for expansion was motivated by the hope of
economic growth and more power. There are five types of Imperialism and many positive and
negative views about them. One of the five types of Imperialism is giving economic and military aid.
This can be helpful to the colonies and the mother country. Another is a sphere of influence. This is an
area in which an imperialistic country can do business privately ... Show more content on

When the colonies become ruled by a mother country this means the natives will most likely become
slaves (Document 2). The European countries will benefit from their labor. In Africa missionaries
came and the natives didn t like them (Document 4). The Africans thought of them very negatively
because they used religion as means to gain trust so they could conquest the natives land. Also, new
diseases were introduced to the natives by the Europeans. There were many more negative effects of
imperialism in Africa like their loss of dignity and their ability to lead themselves (Document 6). This
is because the Europeans taught them that their culture was inferior to theirs. In the political cartoon in
Document 7, it shows a cartoonist implying that Europeans work the natives in the colonies very hard
all for the money. They don t care about the natives well being. In India, the British took over and
many bad effects occurred as result to this. Like, Indian resources going straight to Britain. Also
British manufactured good replaced Indian local industry. Farmers were forced to grow cash crops like
tea and cotton and Indians went hungry. Also, top jobs were reserved for the British. This left many
Indians unemployed. The Indians were treated as inferiors in their own country. Many wars broke out
due to racism and which mother country wanted which colony. Like in Africa the Boers War in 1899
was a confrontation between the English and the Dutch when England wanted to take the Cape
Colony from the Dutch. Another war in Africa caused by Imperialism is the Zulu war. The Zulu war
was caused by British aggression. In China the Opium war was between Great Britain and China. It
began in 1839 as a conflict over the opium trade that ended in 1842 with the opening of five Chinese
ports to foreign merchants. But the worst effect of Imperialism is when the mother country tries to
replace the culture of the

Exercising Process
Exercising requires the skeletal muscles to have chemical energy from ATP in order to contract and
relax. Chemical energy is present in the macromolecules of the foods people consume everyday such
as protein, carbohydrate, and fat. Cells metabolized these molecules to produce energy that is used to
form ATP. The demand for ATP increases as people exercise but skeletal muscle fibers store very little
ATP therefore, in order to continue exercising, ATP must quickly be replenished continuously. Most of
the ATP generated is during oxidative phosphorylation while some is also produced during glycolysis.
Glycolysis is an anaerobic process that metabolizes glucose to pyruvic acid. Pyruvic acid is converted
to acetyl CoA in the presence of oxygen, which then enters the citric acid cycle. During the citric acid
cycle, ATP is formed from phosphorylation while hydrogen is oxidized to water which constitutes
most of the ATP generated. Pyruvic acid is converted to lactic acid if not enough oxygen is supplied to
the active muscle and lactic acidosis occurs which increases the acidity of the blood. Lactate from the
blood is removed and converted back to pyruvate by muscle fibers, which is then oxidatively
metabolized to generate and replenish ATP at the end of intense exercise ... Show more content on

This process is accelerated by an increase in sympathetic stimulation of adipose tissue during exercise.
Maintaining a sufficient production of ATP during moderate to heavy dynamic exercise is required and
dependent upon the breakdown of glycogen as well. Exhaustion occurs when glycogen stored in the
muscles are depleted. Therefore, the capacity for sustained work at moderate to heavy intensities
depends on the amount of stored glycogen, which varies from person to person and can be altered by
prior activity and diet (Pflanzer

Obesity Research Paper
High fructose corn syrup is known to be a tasty and all around unhealthy sweetener that we human
consume. The inexpensive and readily obtainable sweetener has caused an epidemic obesity that
plagued the world shortly after it has been introduced worldwide at supermarkets. Considering that
HFCS is heavily processed in many foods as a substitute for table sugar, it is permeated into almost
every food we eat. Eating too much food containing HFCS may be good for our taste bud, but it does
not mean it is good for our body. The predominant sweetener leads to obesity because it has a copious
amount of sugar, metabolizes differently than any other sugar, and are nowadays falsely advertised as
healthy . HFCS has been used as a sweetener in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fructose can only be metabolized by the liver because only the liver has a transporter for it. Whereas
glucose can be metabolized by every cell in the body. Also, fructose goes through a metabolic change
that keeps your body from burning fat. This means that all fructose gets stored in your fat cells and are
then turned into fat. Moreover, fructose causes people to gain more calories because they do not feel
as if they are full. As Jacqueline states, As an increase in insulin and leptin are associated with satiety,
some researchers theorized that perhaps ingesting fructose instead of glucose leads people to consume
more calories because they do not get the right signals to feel full (Jacques, n.d.). Insulin is a hormone
that regulates the amount of glucose in the blood. Leptin is a hormone that will help regulate your
appetite. A increase in insulin and leptin will signal your body that you are full. Although, as you
become resistant to the results of insulin and leptin, you end up eating more. Nowadays many food are
advertised to persuade the audience that a certain brand or product is better in comparison to the
others. HFCS for instance are usually advertised as being healthy in comparison to regular sugar. This

Japan Final Reflection Paper

Final Reflection
Japan is in a mission to search for energy after the devastated earthquake and tsunami in 2011. People
are afraid of nuclear power, yet there is no way to stop the production of nuclear power completely.
Japan is heavily depending on nuclear because it is cheaper than buying resources from the Middle
East. In the long run, this will impact Japan s economic and climate change. There is no right or
wrong to this decision, but one thing for sure, Japan needs a new form of energy. Japan population has
been declining at a rapid rate. There is no real solution to prevent the population from decreasing.
From my perspective, Japanese families tend to live far away from each other. The reason behind this
is due to work. People in Tokyo will get a better paying job than people in Matsuyama, so most of
them are looking to work in a bigger city. At the host family that I went to live with for two days, the
mother will wake up early to prepare breakfast and bento for her child. In the US, no one will prepare
breakfast or lunch for you. Everyone has their own business to take care of. However, Japan is totally
different from the western culture. People share their worries to get things done. Even though they are
not family, the way they interact with each other is just so heartwarming. For these house wife, every
day is pretty much the same. I believe Japanese government need to push more support for women.
Japanese women tend to lose their jobs if they decide to have a baby. Child care is expensive and not
everyone wants to do it. Therefore, many Japanese women rather keep their jobs than having a child
because they will lose the ability to do what they love. Most people hate doing something that they
don t enjoy, so if there is no benefit from it; no one will want to waste their time doing such job. If
there are more support for women to have a child, then the population will increase overtime. At this
point, there are less younger people than old people because they are not interested to date anyone. If
the government won t act now, the consequence will impact Japan in the long run. Japanese tea
ceremony is very interesting to learn about. Every single step is thoughtfully

Mitosis And Eukaryotic Analysis
Life starts out in organisms that are so small and complex even the naked eye can t see. It starts from
the zygote and ends up becoming the person you are today! It all starts from a cycle, when
fertilization, the fusion of two haploid gametes, (the sperm and the egg) forms a diploid zygote. This
is how the chromosome number in a life cycle changes from haploid to diploid (23 to 46). A lack of
chromosomes or having more than 23 chromosomes can cause syndromes like Down Syndrome or
Turner Syndrome, which will be discussed later. Mitosis is the division of a haploid or diploid cell into
two duplicate daughter cells. Mitosis is basically the division of a nucleus into two duplicate cells, and
both have the same number of chromosomes. These identical cells are called totipotent cells, which
have the ability to develop into new organisms. A good example of cell division in haploid cells is
how the male honey bee develops from an unfertilized haploid cell. For humans, each cell contains
50% DNA from mom and other 50% from dad. Since these cells are eukaryotic, they include both
introns and exons. Exons are the nucleotide segments in genes and introns are non coding regions. In

Similarities And Differences Between The Friar And The...
Joseph Heimerl
Matt Daly
English 10
26 September, 2016
The Friar and the Pardoner The Canterbury Tales, retold by Geraldine McCaughrean, is composed of
many stories told by different characters on the road to Canterbury. On their pilgrimage, each of the
characters tells a different story in a contest to win a free dinner when they get to Canterbury. Many of
the tales have similar morals, but the tellers are very different, such as the tales of the Friar and the
Pardoner. Though both of these tales have a similar plot and can be interpreted in a similar way, their
tellers are significantly different. Although the Friar and the Pardoner are very different people, they
both have a similarly structured story, using a symbolic demons as the antagonist, and with very
similar plotlines. In the Pardoner s Tale, three unintelligent men want to find and murder someone
named Death who is killing many people. The three men stumble upon a pot of gold, which happens
to be Death s pot of gold. They all split the money in the pot and become rich. While one of the three
leaves to buy wine to celebrate their fortune, the two guarding the gold become greedy and plot to kill
the other so they can keep his gold. However, the one who left had a similar idea, and poisons the
wine he brings to dinner. That night, the two who guarded the gold kill the other one, but then drink
the poisoned wine to celebrate. They all die, and Death takes back his gold. In the Friar s Tale, a

A deep, dark blue river, lush green plants full of monkeys and birds. Warm air blowing on my face, the
smell of cool and refreshing, but fishy, water. The breathtaking beauty of the Amazon. On a large
cargo ship, though a cruise in the Amazon, we (me and my family) float down the river. The original
blue paint is wearing off. It stops at large villages to load and unload, but boats from small villages
have to pull up against the moving ship. Pink, freshwater, dolphins live in this large river (the largest
river in the world). There are mostly blind and aren t always all pink. They don t show much of their

other native kids do. Other times we are stuck under the roof in our hammocks, reading, because of
the rain. Though the sunsets are always beautiful. One day we stop at a large town and it takes forever
to load and unload the ship. I am at the back of the ship, listening to people yelling Spanish words I

Chris Mccandless Escaping The World s Foolishness
Escaping the world s foolishness
Every one of us sometimes thinks that we need a break from life, and that s what Christopher Johnson
McCandless wanted. The book Into the Wild by john Krakauer talks about Chris s journey the
wilderness. Chris was brave to take the decision to go live in the wilderness and hitchhike to Alaska
alone. Shaun Callerman stated that [Chris] made a lot of mistakes based on arrogance... I think he was
jus plain crazy. I disagree with Callerman point of view, because in my opinion Chris wasn t crazy, but
he was courageous. Chris didn t go there to kill himself, but he was enjoying every moment in his
journey. Although, Chris had a love for the wild and being independent; He was just fed up with
society and wanted to live on his own away from all of that.

The Impact Of Technological Change On Employment Essay
Macroeconomic Written Assignment Unit 7 Definition of structural unemployment: Structural
unemployment occurs when employees and employers, for some reason, can t find each other. For
instance new technology may be a cause of structural unemployment. A company may require new
technology skills that are not met by the candidates in the area, so sometimes the employer decides to
relocate certain jobs somewhere else where people are more qualified. Another example is when
technology and automation in production causes loss of jobs as well. Also, a company may decide to
move its office or production somewhere else (overseas), where the cost of labor is more convenient.
All of these situations generate an increase in the unemployment rate, called structural unemployment.
Impact of technological change on employment The impact on employment occurs because a change
in technology immediately affects the demand of skills requirements. For instance, think about a
factory that is going to open a sophisticated new automated production area that would produce
something automatically from raw materials into finish goods. In this case, the employer will most
likely hire a mechanical engineer in order to fill the position. I made this extreme example just to
explain that a technological change has always represented a change in the skill demand in business
since the industrial revolution. Hence, with the innovation of technology, from hardware to software,
employees at all level need

My Experience Of My Life
It was the summer of 15. Filled with travel, laughter, and smiles. But, at that time I didn t pay attention
or even cherish those moments. Now, I truly know how much I miss the feeling of being that happy all
the time. School was out. Everyone just waiting for the clock to hit the 12, that s when everything in
my life changed. It was my first time going on my airplane. My first time being in a car for more than
8 hours. It was my very first firsts. I m not going to lie. That scared me. You know. Experiencing
something for the first time. That s a tough job. But anyways, that s the background to this very
important part of my life. During this time, I saw happiness beaming off of everyone s face and saw
no bad in people. I wish I thought this way now. High School changed my perspective a lot. The stress
is at its ultimatum. It just doesn t want to stop. I constantly am in books, studying for a test, in books,
memorizing a poem, or in books because I generally have nothing to do. All I want is to go back to the
time that I explored something every day. With a friend or just with my family. Summer was great. I
also had my first experience at an overnight summer camp. Let me tell you more about that. The car
ride to the buses was filled with emotion. It was the first time that I would leave my family for a
whole week. I was still in the 7th grade so that was a big wave of independence instantly coming my
way. I honestly thought that I wasn t going to survive. What would I

The Palestinian Conflict Of The Middle East
Israeli Palestinian Conflict The creation of two sovereign states is the only possibility of a peaceful
end to the conflict over historical Palestine in the Middle East. To achieve this, a third party must offer
enough incentive to both the Arabic and Jewish states and create a sovereign Palestinian state. This is
not a very probable outcome, as the conflict is rooted in the peoples traditions and beliefs making it
much harder to compromise. I predict this conflict will end in the overwhelming takeover of the
Palestinian and Holy Land area by the militarily superior Israelites and the trampling of the Arab
people. Conflict over Palestine and the less well defined, Holy Land, is deeply rooted in Middle
Eastern society. Conflicting claims over the land have rocked Palestine and the surrounding states for
many years. The two key actors in the Israeli Palestinian conflict include the Jews and the Arabs.
Outside actors who also have influence and interests over the area include Europe, America, and
Egypt. Jewish interest in the Palestinian territory is based either religiously or with the interest of
creating a Jewish state. According to religious writings and tradition, the Holy Land was promised to
the Jewish people. Groups who identify religiously do not necessarily support the creation of a Jewish
state. Jews who do hold interest in the creation of a Jewish state are identified as Zionists. While today
s Zionists continue to call for an end of the diaspora of the Jewish

Why Golf Is a Sport Essay
Argumentative Essay
Why Golf Is a Sport
A matter of opinion has separated a variety of sports enthusiasts apart, due to the ongoing debate of
whether golf is a sport or simply a skill. Famed golfer Arnold Palmer declared, Golf is deceptively
simple and endlessly complicated; it satisfies the soul and frustrates the intellect. It is at the same time
rewarding and maddening and it is without a doubt the greatest game mankind has ever invented.
(ThinkQuest.com) These words state what every athlete experiences and feels when he/she is turning a
double play, making the game winning three point shot, or throwing a hail mary pass for a touchdown.

Yet, many people object the physical exertion aspect with golf, that it does not require any. These
objectors who say golf should not be included in that defined group are ignorant to athletics and its
regulations. My definition of a sport is a competition that involves athletes who play to win within a
certain structure of rules and regulations. Anyone can be an athlete; they do not have to be good to
play a sport, as long as they try with some effort. A sport requires certain qualities of an individual too
that it can not be without. Hand eye coordination is vital to every sport out there. A basketball player
has to shoot the ball into the hoop, a football player has to throw the ball to an open receiver, a
baseball player has to swing a bat to hit a 95 mile per hour fastball, and golfers have to swing their
club and hit a tiny ball a couple hundred yards. It is the number one aspect that is required in all
sports. Although it is common to associate sports with many other qualities. The manly qualities of
other sports such as cheerleaders and fights usually are not included in golf, some figure because it is
missing these qualities, that it should not even be considered a sport. Cheerleaders are important to
sports. They keep the crowd excited; they keep the participants enthused about winning; and they give

Modern Pain Therapies For Pain Management Essay
1 Introduction
Despite all the advances erupting from therapeutic research, current treatments for pain management
remain inadequate. The efficacies of modern pain therapies are challenged by adverse tolerability
profiles, unfavourable side effects, concerns with long tern use and potential for misuse or abuse
(Carven Roberts, 2013). While the major analgesic medicines on the market today include narcotic
(opioids) and non narcotic analgesics, non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and heat
therapy (Carven Roberts, 2013), engineered biologics are emerging as a promising approach to
reconcile various inadequacies of existing pain therapies, since they can be manufactured with
capacities such as target specificity to minimize unnecessary, adverse reactivity.
Utilizing recombinant DNA technology, our iGEM team hopes to produce the functional mambalgin 1
protein, which is naturally derived from the venom of Dendroaspis polylepis, commonly referred to as
the African Black Mamba. Mambalgins have been characterized with a strong potential to be useful in
the treatment of acute and chronic pain, since the mechanism of action for this protein is independent
of the opioid pathway meaning that it likely non addictive by its properties and is as potent as
morphine, without building tolerance (Diochot, Baron, Salinas, Douguet, Scarzello, Dabert Gay,
Debayle, Friend, Alloui, Lazdunski, Lingueglia, 2012). Escherichia coli was chosen as the chassis

In A Thousand Acres , Larry accuses Rose and Ginny even though it is wrong about treating him badly and become blinder as the story goes on. Caroline and Cordelia both stick by their father, even after he shuns them but Caroline is ignorant, as she does not see her father s true side that her sisters know of. In King Lear , Goneril and Regan betray Lear by shutting him down after he gave them his power. Unlike Goneril and Regan, Ginny and Rose only deny Larry s requests for his safety, not because they are selfish. These motifs are similar but have been flipped around in the two works. Instead of Ginny and Regan being selfish, Larry is the bad guy, who does not learn from his mistakes. Jess is also similar to Edmund, as he did something not socially acceptable by leaving the farm and returning years later. • 4. Sydney Carton Character Analysis In A Tale of Two Cities, Charles Dickens thorough development of each character and skillful use of coincidence prevents anyone from fading into insignificance; every character in the novel plays a role vital to the evolution of the plotline. Perhaps more impressive than his ability to place every single character in a significant role, Dickens uses the element of surprise to introduce the magnitude of various roles. Sydney Carton, in particular, seems to play a rather insignificant part in much of the novel, resulting from his self admitted worthlessness. Carton s continual and somewhat irritating self criticism primes him for a surprising acquisition of influence at the conclusion; an inconsequential life becomes the novel s hero in an ending which few anticipate. Carton expresses regret over his unfruitful life multiple times, agonizing over the idea of not having the opportunity to alter it. Dickens creates a final set of circumstances that are traumatic for much of the novel s characters; Carton, however, sees the situation as the perfect chance to finally do something meaningful with his life. In an ironic yet sensible twist, the only way Carton can redeem his wasted life is by losing it. In light of the nature of his life up to the conclusion of the novel, he does not merit the Christ figure label until his final act of sacrifice. Charles Dickens unexpectedly transforms a wretched Sydney Carton into a symbol of Christ through the character s displays of selflessness, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Civic culture In Yugoslavia Essay One definition of ethnicity reads as followed identity with or membership in a particular racial, national, or cultural group and observance of that group s customs, beliefs, or language . Ethnicity defines many of us but a few want our definition to be cleansed and this is when civil conflict arises. Ethnicity is frequently cited as an explanation for conflicts in the post cold war era. Yugoslavia, a prime example of a system that encountered ethnic conflict that led to a violent civil war, consisted of six republics and two autonomous districts. The government at the time wanted control of these republics but the republics wanted to be free from government control. There was a push by several ethnic groups to form their own sovereign ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These congruities of blood, speech, custom, and so on, are seen to have an ineffable, and at times overpowering, coerciveness in and of themselves. One is bound to one s kinsman, one s neighbor, one s fellow believer, ipso facto; as a result not merely of personal affection, practical necessity, common interest, or incurred obligation but at least in great part by virtue of some unaccountable absolute import attributed to the very tie itself. The general strength of such primordial bonds, and the types of them that are important, differ from person to person, from society to society, and from time to time. But for virtually every person, in every society, at almost all times, some attachments seem to flow more from a sense of natural some would say spiritual affinity than from social interaction. The cultural primordialist is easier to accept in today s modern world. For primordialists, ethnic bonds and hatreds are fundamental to one s identity, meaning that conflicts between ethnic groups are inevitable. Conflicts will by definition be extremely brutal and violent because there is no room for compromise on one s spiritual ties and cultural beliefs. Instrumentalist, the second field of thought is when you can differentiate groups from tribes and identity is situational. In modernization it changes the class system within society but does not necessarily lead to conflict. Instrumentalism is when ethnic conflict occurs when it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Through the lenses and point of view of Hushpuppy, the audience is about to see the human experiences of Hushpuppy s transition from dependence to independence and learning how to survive in the environment she lives in. During the same speech Miss Bathsheba gives, Hushpuppy is also introduced to aurochs. Aurochs are extincts beasts that are frozen in the caps of the South pole. From this scene on, the audience is shown multiple shots of the beasts. These beasts are usually portrayed when Hushpuppy exhibits signs of fear or a change in Hushpuppy s outlook. By molding the aurochs into the sequence of the film, this adds to the feeling of childish wonder. Moreover, it helps the viewer connect with Hushpuppy s fear. For example, there is a scene in the movie where Hushpuppy comes face to face with her fear and the aurochs. This is the moment where her father is ill and dying. She has to combat her fear of the aurochs. She does this by not running. She turns around and stares at the aurochs. The aurochs eventually lay down and sniff her in a sense of acceptance. It was at this point where Hushpuppy says You re my friend, kind of. I gotta take care of mines (Zeitlin 2012). • 8. The Research Into Leisure Constraints As more models of analysis are being made around the research of leisure there has been a shift in terminology. There has been a movement away from the term barrier to the more inclusive term constraint. In addition, we do not mean to imply that the existence of barriers automatically leads to non participation in leisure activities. Individuals are not passive; instead, they often successfully or unsuccessfully negotiate through constraints (Jackson, 1995; Crawford et al, 1991). There have been many models developed to analyze the literature on constraints/ barriers. Many of these models have been criticized for their lack of insight into an individual s decision making process and their static approach. What is evident is that there is no consensus on what is the best model or approach to take. The research into leisure constraints continues to grow. As far as leisure participation or nonparticipation are concerned...constraints are encountered hierarchically, first at the interpersonal level. Leisure preferences are formed when interpersonal constraints (eg. stress, socialization, perceived self skill) are absent or their effects have been confronted through some combination of privilege and exercise of human will. Next, depending on the type of activity, the individual may encounter constraints at the interpersonal level (eg. interpersonal interactions); this could happen in activities requiring at least one partner or co participant but would be less relevant in the ... M.R.I s use the intermediate magnetic relaxation periods of organs, which is the amount of time it takes a tissue to react and equalize to a magnetic force, to construct an image. These periods vary only slightly, thus creating dim and low resolution images; but if one was to saturate an organ with an easily manipulated magnetic fluid, such as a ferrofluid, one could see with great contrast the difference between native and foreign tissues. This usage would allow examiners to better identify tumors or unhealthy organs. In like ideas, the localizability of a portion of ferrofluid by a magnetic field, associated with the fact that any liquid may be turned into a magnetic fluid, (Scherer Figueiredo Neto 725) can be used to manipulate medication in a way to reduce side effects and increase the effectivity of the treatments. Researchers believe this may be a way to reduce the enervating effects of chemotherapy, thus improving the overall treatment. There are five types of Imperialism and many positive and negative views about them. One of the five types of Imperialism is giving economic and military aid. Also, new diseases were introduced to the natives by the Europeans. There were many more negative effects of imperialism in Africa like their loss of dignity and their ability to lead themselves (Document 6). This is because the Europeans taught them that their culture was inferior to theirs. In the political cartoon in Document 7, it shows a cartoonist implying that Europeans work the natives in the colonies very hard all for the money. They don t care about the natives well being. In India, the British took over and many bad effects occurred as result to this. Like, Indian resources going straight to Britain. Also British manufactured good replaced Indian local industry. Farmers were forced to grow cash crops like tea and cotton and Indians went hungry. Also, top jobs were reserved for the British. This left many Indians unemployed. • 25. Exercising Process Exercising requires the skeletal muscles to have chemical energy from ATP in order to contract and relax. Chemical energy is present in the macromolecules of the foods people consume everyday such as protein, carbohydrate, and fat. Cells metabolized these molecules to produce energy that is used to form ATP. The demand for ATP increases as people exercise but skeletal muscle fibers store very little ATP therefore, in order to continue exercising, ATP must quickly be replenished continuously. Most of the ATP generated is during oxidative phosphorylation while some is also produced during glycolysis. Glycolysis is an anaerobic process that metabolizes glucose to pyruvic acid. Pyruvic acid is converted to acetyl CoA in the presence of oxygen, which then enters the citric acid cycle. During the citric acid cycle, ATP is formed from phosphorylation while hydrogen is oxidized to water which constitutes most of the ATP generated. Pyruvic acid is converted to lactic acid if not enough oxygen is supplied to the active muscle and lactic acidosis occurs which increases the acidity of the blood. Lactate from the blood is removed and converted back to pyruvate by muscle fibers, which is then oxidatively metabolized to generate and replenish ATP at the end of intense exercise ... People are afraid of nuclear power, yet there is no way to stop the production of nuclear power completely. Japan is heavily depending on nuclear because it is cheaper than buying resources from the Middle East. In the long run, this will impact Japan s economic and climate change. There is no right or wrong to this decision, but one thing for sure, Japan needs a new form of energy. Japan population has been declining at a rapid rate. There is no real solution to prevent the population from decreasing. From my perspective, Japanese families tend to live far away from each other. The reason behind this is due to work. People in Tokyo will get a better paying job than people in Matsuyama, so most of them are looking to work in a bigger city. At the host family that I went to live with for two days, the mother will wake up early to prepare breakfast and bento for her child. In the US, no one will prepare breakfast or lunch for you. Everyone has their own business to take care of. However, Japan is totally different from the western culture. People share their worries to get things done. Even though they are not family, the way they interact with each other is just so heartwarming. For these house wife, every day is pretty much the same. I believe Japanese government need to push more support for women. Japanese women tend to lose their jobs if they decide to have a baby. Child care is expensive and not everyone wants to do it. Therefore, many Japanese women rather keep their jobs than having a child because they will lose the ability to do what they love. Most people hate doing something that they don t enjoy, so if there is no benefit from it; no one will want to waste their time doing such job. If there are more support for women to have a child, then the population will increase overtime. At this point, there are less younger people than old people because they are not interested to date anyone. If the government won t act now, the consequence will impact Japan in the long run. • 28. Mitosis And Eukaryotic Analysis Life starts out in organisms that are so small and complex even the naked eye can t see. It starts from the zygote and ends up becoming the person you are today! It all starts from a cycle, when fertilization, the fusion of two haploid gametes, (the sperm and the egg) forms a diploid zygote. This is how the chromosome number in a life cycle changes from haploid to diploid (23 to 46). A lack of chromosomes or having more than 23 chromosomes can cause syndromes like Down Syndrome or Turner Syndrome, which will be discussed later. Mitosis is the division of a haploid or diploid cell into two duplicate daughter cells. Mitosis is basically the division of a nucleus into two duplicate cells, and both have the same number of chromosomes. These identical cells are called totipotent cells, which have the ability to develop into new organisms. A good example of cell division in haploid cells is how the male honey bee develops from an unfertilized haploid cell. For humans, each cell contains 50% DNA from mom and other 50% from dad. Since these cells are eukaryotic, they include both introns and exons. Exons are the nucleotide segments in genes and introns are non coding regions. In ... • 32. The Impact Of Technological Change On Employment Essay Macroeconomic Written Assignment Unit 7 Definition of structural unemployment: Structural unemployment occurs when employees and employers, for some reason, can t find each other. For instance new technology may be a cause of structural unemployment. A company may require new technology skills that are not met by the candidates in the area, so sometimes the employer decides to relocate certain jobs somewhere else where people are more qualified. Another example is when technology and automation in production causes loss of jobs as well. Also, a company may decide to move its office or production somewhere else (overseas), where the cost of labor is more convenient. All of these situations generate an increase in the unemployment rate, called structural unemployment. Impact of technological change on employment The impact on employment occurs because a change in technology immediately affects the demand of skills requirements. For instance, think about a factory that is going to open a sophisticated new automated production area that would produce something automatically from raw materials into finish goods. In this case, the employer will most likely hire a mechanical engineer in order to fill the position. I made this extreme example just to explain that a technological change has always represented a change in the skill demand in business since the industrial revolution. The Palestinian Conflict Of The Middle East Israeli Palestinian Conflict The creation of two sovereign states is the only possibility of a peaceful end to the conflict over historical Palestine in the Middle East. To achieve this, a third party must offer enough incentive to both the Arabic and Jewish states and create a sovereign Palestinian state. This is not a very probable outcome, as the conflict is rooted in the peoples traditions and beliefs making it much harder to compromise. I predict this conflict will end in the overwhelming takeover of the Palestinian and Holy Land area by the militarily superior Israelites and the trampling of the Arab people. Conflict over Palestine and the less well defined, Holy Land, is deeply rooted in Middle Eastern society. Conflicting claims over the land have rocked Palestine and the surrounding states for many years. The two key actors in the Israeli Palestinian conflict include the Jews and the Arabs. Outside actors who also have influence and interests over the area include Europe, America, and Egypt. (ThinkQuest.com) These words state what every athlete experiences and feels when he/she is turning a double play, making the game winning three point shot, or throwing a hail mary pass for a touchdown. Golfers are athletes too, they train for that big moment just like any other athlete, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Yet, many people object the physical exertion aspect with golf, that it does not require any. These objectors who say golf should not be included in that defined group are ignorant to athletics and its regulations. My definition of a sport is a competition that involves athletes who play to win within a certain structure of rules and regulations. Anyone can be an athlete; they do not have to be good to play a sport, as long as they try with some effort. A sport requires certain qualities of an individual too that it can not be without. Hand eye coordination is vital to every sport out there. A basketball player has to shoot the ball into the hoop, a football player has to throw the ball to an open receiver, a baseball player has to swing a bat to hit a 95 mile per hour fastball, and golfers have to swing their club and hit a tiny ball a couple hundred yards. It is the number one aspect that is required in all sports. Although it is common to associate sports with many other qualities. • 36. Modern Pain Therapies For Pain Management Essay 1 Introduction Despite all the advances erupting from therapeutic research, current treatments for pain management remain inadequate. The efficacies of modern pain therapies are challenged by adverse tolerability profiles, unfavourable side effects, concerns with long tern use and potential for misuse or abuse (Carven Roberts, 2013). While the major analgesic medicines on the market today include narcotic (opioids) and non narcotic analgesics, non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and heat therapy (Carven Roberts, 2013), engineered biologics are emerging as a promising approach to reconcile various inadequacies of existing pain therapies, since they can be manufactured with capacities such as target specificity to minimize unnecessary, adverse reactivity. Utilizing recombinant DNA technology, our iGEM team hopes to produce the functional mambalgin 1 protein, which is naturally derived from the venom of Dendroaspis polylepis, commonly referred to as the African Black Mamba. Mambalgins have been characterized with a strong potential to be useful in the treatment of acute and chronic pain, since the mechanism of action for this protein is independent of the opioid pathway meaning that it likely non addictive by its properties and is as potent as morphine, without building tolerance (Diochot, Baron, Salinas, Douguet, Scarzello, Dabert Gay, Debayle, Friend, Alloui, Lazdunski, Lingueglia, 2012). Escherichia coli was chosen as the chassis organism for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
