All aspects of art follow one of the five formal elements of art. The elements are line, shape, texture,
color, and balance. Some elements are subdued, but some paintings have elements that are very
obvious. With the artists use of these elements he states what his style is, as well as, the use of
medium, and color that directs the viewer s eye to a specific area of the painting. I will choose
paintings to show these elements, how they are used, and what idea the artist is trying to show, and
give my impressions.
The first element I will address is shape. There are regular shapes that are geometric and irregular
shapes that show motion. I have chosen, for shape, Little Yellow Horses by Franz Marc, shown on
page 829. This painting was completed in 1912. The medium is oil on canvas in the Expressionism
style. It is currently displayed at Staatsgalerie, Stuttgart, Germany.
Here we have a painting of three yellow horses with exaggerated curvature and is composed of open

militarism were a large part of national pride. Austria Hungary, for example, wanted Serbia. The
German military was expanding rapidly. With each argument countries got into, hatred became

War I was inevitable due to each of the great powers being imperialistic, militaristic, and prepared for

During the early 1900 s, the European great powers believed they all had something to gain from

goal for all the countries of Europe was growing. Austria and Hungary joined together into a dual
monarchy in 1867. This country annexed Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1908. Germany was annoyed at

Finding out a family member has a disease and that it s a mental one, is devastating. Mental problems
don t just destroy the individual, but the entire family. Until recently, we came across something
known as delusions of persecution. We immediately started seeking for answers only to find out my
great aunt, Maria de Jesus Carbajal de Marquez, has been suffering from delusions of persecution for
the past three years. Never in a million years did we think that one of our family members would
suffer from this mental disease.
Whenever a person falsely believes they are being conspired against by others is called delusions of
persecution. An example of delusions of persecution would be that the government is spying on an
