Cultural Change In Ancient Egypt
Let s take an imaginary trip some 6828 miles to Egypt. The Ancient Egyptian civilization is
exceptionally famous because it continued without massive cultural change for almost 3,000 years. All
its cities were built beside the Nile, a very manageable river; making farming easy and productive
(Minds, 2015). According to an article in Egypt Travel Guide, Egyptian cuisine combines many of the
best traditions of African, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cooking, and is both delicious and
healthy. Fruit, such as dates and olives, picked from the trees combine with vegetables, meats and
fresh fish, aromatic herbs and spices to create colorful and flavorsome dishes (Egypt travel guide,
2015). From this information, I chose to become familiar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Certain foods are prohibited from eating. Muslims who observe Islam usually doesn t eat pork or pork
products. Some Muslims only eat fish that have scales. They also observe Ramadan, which is a month
long of fasting from food during a certain time frame. During fasting they must refrain from eating
and drinking. At the end of each fast day, they usually break their fast with dates, water, fruit juice or
soup. The unique Egyptian cuisine has been influenced throughout history, particularly by its
neighbors from the Middle East. Persians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, and Ottomans. More recently, the
foods of other Arabic people in the Middle East such as the Lebanese, Palestinians, Syrians, as well as
some foods from Europe, have affected the Egyptian diet. However, Egyptian cuisine maintains its
uniqueness. After thousands of years, rice and bread remain staple foods (Food in Egypt,

Essay on Ritalin, Helpful and Harmful
Ritalin Helpful and Harmful
When 20/20 and Oprah did segments about ADD on television, many parents felt that they finally
knew what was wrong with their kids. They rushed to the doctor s office to find out how they could
fix the problem. Most soon discovered a drug called Ritalin. It sounded simple. All they had to do was
give their rambunctious or hyperactive child a pill three or four times a day, and magically he or she
would be a perfect little angel. Most were so happy to find a cure that they did not stop to contemplate
other methods of treatment, possible side effects, or get a second opinion. Dr. Sharon Collins believes
this is because, It takes time for parents and teachers to talk to kids. It takes ... Show more content on

Many experts feel physicians should be more aware of the side effects of the drug and look to alternate
solutions before prescribing Ritalin. Some experts also believe that Ritalin should be only part of the
treatment for patients with ADD or ADHD. The drug, which now saturates the market, produces the
same sensations as the narcotic speed if someone who is not ADD or ADHD takes it. Because of its
narcotic nature, Ritalin is considered by law to be a controlled substance, and its dosage and intake
must be carefully monitored. Parents see Ritalin as a quick fix and urge doctors to prescribe it for their
children, thus leading to premature or improper diagnoses, more people having adverse side effects to
the drug, and an increased availability of the drug for non medicinal purposes.
Many doctors do not take the time to perform a complete evaluation of the patient who is suspected to
have ADD or ADHD. They listen to the teacher or parent and assume because the child has a short
attention span or is very hyperactive that the child must have ADD. The doctors do not take time to
examine other possibilities for the child s behavior such as learning disabilities, depression, or anxiety
disorders that look like ADHD, but do not need Ritalin (Hancock 55).
This need to find a quick fix has

Spring Prompt 2016 Greta Slaats
One day I was taking a hike in the Himalayan mountains and came upon a big wall of stone blocking
the path. In the middle of the stone wall was a round little door with a key hanging on a hook beside it.
Being cautious I crept up to the door and knocked. I don t know who would have answered the door if
someone had answered. I was puzzled and stuck to the spot thinking of what to do. I decided to walk
back to my village way down below and come back tomorrow to see if the wall was still there. When I
got home I ran straight to the town square to go to my father s workshop. I told Papa all about my
journey in the mountains. He warned me of animals that would take me away to the darkest corners
and eat me up. Just then Tijana came running into the store. There is a tiger in the rice fields! he
shouted. Every once in awhile the wild beasts from the jungle would come into the valley in which the
village sat. Our bravest men would shoot arrows and protect us. When the creature went away or was
dead we would celebrate, but that never ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

because we didn t speak the whole way down. After I had dropped Tijana off at his house I decided to
go up to the door again. Tijana was not coming with me for he was to much of a burden. Once I got up
to the door I heard growling and there was a tiger right about 25 yards away from me. I froze because
he could have killed me right then and there. The only option was to go through the door so I took that
way out. Slowly, I grabbed the key and unlocked the door and in one swift motion I quickly slipped

Descriptive Essay On The Border
If I had to give the word luck a meaning, I would start by stating that being born to my Mexican
parents and being raised in the international border between Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua and its sister
city of El Paso, Texas where two cultures clash and become one, has made me an incredibly lucky
person. Being able to move freely between both countries has given me the ability to observe and
understand the environment from two different perspectives.
In a time of globalization, and taking out of the equation old and recent political events that don t
respond to progress, the traditional idea of a border seems long lost. Throughout my life, I have been
exposed to the realities that make a border a complex setting. On average 22,000 people cross the
Juarez El Paso border daily; 1,000 of them being students seeking a better education; others are part of
the workforce that impulses the economy of both cities working either in any of the 350 maquiladoras
in the area or other jobs. On the other hand, some people enjoy crossing the border to visit family or to
spend a day in one of the many shopping centers in the El Paso area as well as in other entertainment
events. The border offers a strong sense of culture and traditions on both sides which serves its people
and visitors. This international relationship is critical to the lives of many people, yet especially
Mexican Americans, like me.
I grew up in Cd. Juarez, in a house and an engraving business that my father inherited from his father,
a man who landed in Juarez seeking opportunities that he later turned into a business. Given the fact
that my father, just like my grandfather, didn t have formal higher education, and still was able to run a
successful business, has taught me the value of hard work and dedication. I also learned the basic
concepts of team work, through my mother who would help my father with the business. The
combination of these qualities allowed me and my siblings to grow up in a healthy environment until
it all changed about a decade ago during the dark times of the border.
The drug war exploded and Cd. Juarez had become famous as one of the most dangerous cities. The
streets were filled with violence and a numerous amount of people were

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Working Alone
These days, there are many companies that prefer working in teams rather than for each person to be
working individually. They view working in groups as a more efficient and faster way to complete the
tasks given. But what the companies overlook, is that not everyone works better in teams. There are
two types of people, introverts and extroverts. Introverts are people who prefers to be alone as they are
the type that enjoys thinking to themselves. They often avoid socializing with others as it clears their
mind better to be alone. While being the opposite, extroverts enjoys being around people more and
tend to get bored easily when alone. They are the type to think while they talk instead of thinking to
themselves.
People who are introverts are especially the type who work better by themselves. There is also a
plausibility of conflicts breaking out when certain people work in a group together. This can be due to
poor communication, weak leadership, change in leadership, dissatisfaction with management style,
seeking power and etc. For example, when two employees who don t see eye to eye were to be sent to
work in the same department, there would immediately arouse a tension in the air. Adding on that they

One of the most significant advantage of working alone is that you do not have to take orders from
anyone else and the decisions are all up to you. Which wouldn t restrict your working methods and
lets one have more freedom to work out the task in their own desirable way. The time and place done
is also a choice that is optional to those who work individually. Another advantage is one can take full
credits on the project or task. This is because it was done by the person alone so there is no need to
share the credit with others. There will also be no issues such as when one gets acknowledged for a
job well done despite doing less or even none of the work load just because he/she was part of the

Examples Of Selfishness In Romeo And Juliet
Romeo and Juliet: The text Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare examines the theme of
impulsivity and selfishness. The characters of Romeo, Juliet and Friar Lawrence act with selfishness
and impulsivity causing them to make poor choices. Romeo acts impulsively because of selfishness.
Romeo acts impulsively when goes to the Friar to marry Juliet right after he meets her at a party. After
the marriage Romeo realised that there are many problems. At the second fight scene Romeo kills
Tybalt and after he realized what he has done he replies O, I am fortune s fool ( Act 3, Scene 1, Line

Introduction: The term image of God occurs three times in the Bible. In Genesis 1:26 27 and 9:6, we
find out that man is created in the image of God. In 2 Cor. 4:4 we see the phrase used in reference to
Jesus who is the image of God. There is no exact understanding of what the phrase means, but we can
generalize. It would seem that the first two verses refer to God s character and attributes that are
reflected in people. The term cannot be a reference to a physical appearance of God since Jesus says in
John 4:24 that God is Spirit, and in Luke 24:39 Spirit does not have flesh and bones. Therefore, we
can conclude that the image of God deals with humanity s reflection of ... Show more content on

Example 2: God wants us to have a heart of compassion for others. Compassion involves feeling, but
it involves so much more. If we only feel, then we are sympathetic. If our sympathy motivates us to
act, then it becomes compassion. True compassion feels and it acts. Notice that compassion begins
with feeling. Without feeling, there is no compassion. Feeling is not enough, but it is a place to begin.
If we do not weep for those who are hurting, how can we minister to them? We must be about the
Savior s preoccupation with people. I believe that if we serve hurting people, encourage those in
despair, help those in need, and hurt with those in pain, we will have not only enriched their lives but
have done exactly what God would want us to do. People don t go where the action is; people go
where the love is. I have worked in the geriatric nursing field my entire adult life and the most
important impact on the lives that I touch is my ability to be compassionate. I find that when a spouse

Analysis Of Robert Frost And The Tuft Of Flowers
There once lived a fellow named Robert Frost, who was one of the greatest poets of the 20th century.
In the year 1874, Robert s life began in San Francisco. He lived there for eleven years with his family
until his father died. When that happened, Robert, his mother, and little sister all moved to
Massachusetts. There, Robert went to high school and graduated top of his class. He went on to
complete only one term at Dartmouth College, and after that, two years at Harvard University. After
leaving college, Robert worked as a farmer and later as a factory worker for a short time. Next, he
taught English at Pinkerton Academy for four years. Mr. Frost s wrote many poems, one of which is
called The Tuft of Flowers, is one of Frost s earlier works. Accordingly, the focus this essay will be
analyzing that poem and comparing it with another Robert Frost wrote. There are two parts of this
essay, analyzing the first poem using four elements of poetry: theme, imagery, sound, and symbol, and
the second part is a comparison of the first another written by Frost, Acquainted with the Night.
In the beginning of The Tuft of Flowers, a newly mown field can be seen. The flowers and tall grasses,
which had been a haven and a joy for insects, animals, and people, were unceremoniously assaulted by
the blade of the workman. The author of the poem is observing the scene, alone; his loneliness is
evident. However, this hopelessness is as he was before he noticed the tuft of flowers. He viewed all

Examples Of Discrimination In To Kill A Mockingbird
The United States, for hundreds of years, was what the majority of the world looked at as the prime
example of racism and discrimination. A pitiful example of how humans can treat each other under the
right conditions. The lynching, torture and outright cold blooded murder of African Americans in the
USA. This behaviour was evident (mostly within the South) after the influential Plessy v. Ferguson in
1896 onward, up until the Civil Rights movements which managed to squash much of the institutional
discrimination. One could see a manifestation of this in 1960, with Harper Lee releasing the classic
racial commentary To Kill a Mockingbird , she managed to illuminate many injustices faced by the
Black communities in the deep South scrutinising ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The injustices served to the Black community were fought, often lost, but nevertheless fought. The
African Americans of the South were being stripped of their right to a fair and just trial to degrade
African Americans as a people. We see this in the many trials which unjustly convicted innocent
African Americans, To Kill a Mockingbird does a great job at illustrating this, Harper Lee uses Tom
Robinson along with a clearly obvious court case (in favour of Tom) to clearly show the extreme bias
within the courts, as Tom does not receive the respect, or consideration of the White jurors or
prosecutor (with Tom, in turn, being sentenced to death when he is clearly innocent). Harper wanted to
show that, while Blacks were being given their constitutional right to a fair trial, these trials, were far
from fair, they were a despicable combination of Kangaroo Court and Show Trialing and the book
helped bring this fact to light for many northern readers whom may not come across such information
otherwise. But there were many triumphs as well, the court case known as Brown v. Board of
Education , one of the most influential cases in all of civil rights history. It proved that Blacks are still
resilient to the discrimination within their society and that change, especially in regards to education
(one of the most important parts of one s life). Brown v. Board of Education led to the end of
segregated schools in the U.S., ruling them to be unconstitutional, overriding the ruling of Plessy v.
Ferguson (that being, separate but equal, which ended up as an Orwellian more equal than others
scenario). This ruling meant that children of all races would be allowed to enjoy the fruits of Western
education, it empowered the next generation of African Americans, not simply in a civil mentality
way, but in a literal

How Does Society s Ridicule Affect Frankenstein
Both Victor and his creation suffer internally from the ridicule of society. Victor has always been a
family man, and was interested in learning. Eventually, Victor would find himself in a prominent
institute where he becomes obsessed with creating life. To give more insight, Telgen Diane explains
Readers get the distinct feeling that Victor s inquisitive nature causes his emotional and physical peril
because he cannot balance his intellectual and social interactions. For instance, when he leaves home
to attend the University of Ingolstadt, he immerses himself in his experiment and forgets about the
family who lovingly supported him throughout his childhood (Diane 188). His family was very
prominent and were on the top of society. Internally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the book they both suffer the same fate dying alone which is a fear Victor and his creature
especially had. Victor always prided himself around his family, and was always the most wretched
when they passed. The creature wanted a mate to bond with no matter how miserable the conditions
were because at least he would have someone to love and die with. Victor failed in doing this, and
suffered the consequences for his failure to comply to the simple needs of his creation. To further
analyze, T.J Madigan explains If Frankenstein can be faulted as indeed he can it is not for hubris, but
rather for the very qualities he mentions above, cowardice and carelessness. For he performs his
operation without telling anyone else, and when his creation comes to life, he rejects it by running
away and hoping the creature will die. This rejection of what he has brought about his failure to share
his findings with the scientific community, or the people around him ultimately leads to tragedy
(Madigan). Victor was too afraid of being ousted by the scientific community if he shared this. If
Victor had done so, he may have been either taken as a joke or an evil doer. Victor may have had help
to control his creature and avoid death all over, but it is because of the ridicule of the society that
stopped him from sharing his

The Takata Corporation Case
The Takada family founded Takata Corporation in 1933. Originally the firm manufactured parachute
static lines as well as other textiles. In the 60s Takata began to shift towards the automobile safety
industry by selling seat belts to car manufacturers. The corporation supplied the first Japanese car
manufacturer to have seat belts as part of the vehicle s standard design. Takata found success in the
new industry, which led the firm to expand into airbags as well as child safety restraint systems. With
its strategic decision to enter the automobile safety industry Takata was reaping the benefits. The firm
commanded a major portion of the airbag market, eventually becoming one of the top three airbag
manufacturers in the automotive industry. However, despite the company s early contributions to
automobile safety, recent events have tarnished the firm s reputation. Takata has continually failed to
address and correct a potentially fatal malfunction within in its airbag design. Decisions, driven by a
desire to reduce production costs, have forced the company to abandon its corporate social
responsibility, harming various stakeholders in the process. It is unfortunate that the once respected
firm has irreparably damaged its image. In an industry where defects and mistakes by manufacturers
can potentially kill consumers, public trust in the firm is immensely important. Consumers need to
know that a firm is committed to creating not only economic value, but societal and

World Order Research Paper
The world order, in general, refers to the economic, political or social state of affairs prevailing in the
world at a given time and the corresponding effect this has on the different relationships countries
have among each other. In this essay, I will argue that the world order is not in fact changing and that
we are not witnessing a power shift from the West to the rest of the world. To prove this, I will analyse
in terms of hard and soft power how the West is still the more dominant party. Firstly, I will compare
the military and economic power of the US and China and come to the conclusion that the US is the
more dominant power. Next, I will demonstrate how in terms of foreign policy and political power the
US commands more soft power ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It could, therefore, be argued that these increased political tensions may cause the US to lose key allies
and in turn help China become the more favoured country. However, in recent times, China has proven
to be arrogant, aggressive and rude when it comes to executing its foreign policy. Many countries,
including Japan and India, claim to find it increasingly challenging to cooperate with China and this
has done nothing but push said countries towards the US and cemented the US s global power.
Therefore, it is clear that even in terms of soft power, the US scores much higher than China and as a
result there will be no shift in power which re emphasizes the fact that the world order is not changing.
In conclusion, I have argued that the world order is not changing. In order to prove this, I have first
established that in terms of hard power (militarily and economically) the US is the more dominant
power and as a result there appears to be no power shift. Furthermore, I have shown that even in terms
of soft power (using foreign aid and foreign policy) the US still scores ahead of China, once again
indicating no signs of a power

The Prediction Of Fullerene Structure
Fullerene was first recorded in a Japanese article, Kagaku, written by Eiji Osawa in 1970 which stated
the prediction on the existence of C60 compound [1]. In the following year, a conjecture on the
stability of C60 was established by Osawa and Yoshida where the aromatic characteristic of C60 was
described further. The stability was further better explained when the Hückel s calculation method was
applied and introduced to the icosahedron structure of C60 by Bochvar and Gal pern [2]. The
prediction of fullerene structure was discussed based on graphite balloon speculation made by David
Jones using pseudonym of Daedalus in a journal, The Scientist [3]. This speculation was essentially
describing the gas phase carbon cluster in the form of geodesic cages which is applied to giant
fullerenes compound [2].
Fullerenes can be described as closely packed carbon cages hold in rings of, most commonly,
hexagons and pentagons with sp2 hydridised carbons. In some larger structure with more than 100
carbons, heptagonal rings may present. A large numbered fullerene will require larger cage to obtain
the most least steric angle between the bonds and the structure might have a surface of concaved [4].
Figure 1 and Figure 2 show the cage structures of fullerenes C60 and C70. Both of these fullerenes are
the most stable fullerene with more planar and larger nearly spherical structure and have higher
thermodynamic stability with positive enthalpy change of formation, ∆H_f [4]. Figure 1:

The Purchasing Power Parity ( Ppp ) And I Will Divide This...
Introduction:
A quote from Adam Smith s book shows the distinguishes between money and wealth : It would be
too ridiculous to go about seriously to prove that wealth does not consist in money, or in gold and
silver; but in what money purchases, and is valuable only for purchasing. This quote means the money
purchases seems to be more important than money itself, in other words, this view is consistent with
many economists who think the purchasing power is important. There is two type of fundamental
international financial relationships: first is the Purchasing power parity which occurs in goods and
services market, the second is the interest parity which occurs in the money market. Both relationships
state the association among interest rate, inflation rates, and change in exchange rates.
In this paper, I will only focus on discussing the Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) and I will divide this
paper into four sections. In section 1, I will come up with the definition of PPP and other theories
behind it. For section 2, I will briefly introduce the absolute PPP and relative PPP and empirical
evidence on PPP. Section 3 explains empirical test of PPP in practice and the problem of PPP. For the
last section, there are conclusion and remarks.
Section 1: Understanding Purchasing power parity
In this section, I will define the purchasing power parity and other theories behind PPP.
WHAT IS PPP?

Adoption of Ifrs in Australia
International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) are an international set of accounting standards.
Early in the 21st century, the Australian Accounting Standards board, with guidance from the
Financial Reporting Council (FRC), decided to implement IFRS s throughout Australia. This decision
was made so that Australia could participate and contribute to the development of a distinct set of
accounting standards that could be used all around the world. This report will explore the process of
setting standards in Australia, the effects it can have on interest groups, and the way in which the
introduction of IFRS would change the way Australian accountants report their financial position. The

Australia, and on an international level, is a political process. It involves politics to a great extent in a
number of ways. For example, politics are involved during the standard setting process, as the groups
involved are all government groups which are statutory bodies under various acts, this is politics. The
affects that the standards have on stakeholders in Australian companies as well as the economy as a
whole, is also linked to politics. The FRC advises the Australian government on the process in which
accounting standards are set, as well as advising the direction in which the AASB will head. The
AASB is responsible for standard setting in Australia. Although the FRC can provide the AASB with
strategic directions, it does not have the power to directly force the AASB to create or amend a
specific standard. The FRC is also responsible for appointing the members of the AASB,

Communication in Euthanasia of an Animal Essay
It is important that communication is part of a euthanasia. In most cases clients pets are a large part of
their life, they would want it to be stress free and painless for there animals ending. The decision that
the clients have to make to get to this stage is usually hard for them so it is crucial that they are clear
on how a euthanasia takes place and the possible after effects. This is so that the client is not disturbed
if any unfortunate movements happen once the animal has passed away.
Also communication in this situation will give the client a feeling that they are in safe hands and that
the veterinarian knows what they are doing when is comes to making the last parts of their pets life as
smooth as possible. Giving clients plenty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example if you are in a happy mood and your excited, but you start to talk about a sad subject in
an excited tone this can be confusing and taken in the wrong context.
Different religions have different views on animals as a whole. When referring to religion in line with
euthanasia some religions wouldn t allow euthanasia of an animal because of the possible side effects
on reincarnation when another human passes away. This is in eastern
religions(Buddhism,Hinduism,Jainism), a value is given to the animals life so that if any cruelty or
euthanasia could potentially harm another human when it comes to incarnation. Most Christianity
nations perceive animals as a possession. So any kind of cruelty/ damage to there possession is not
tolerated. Animals are widely kept through out this religion and are seen to be a big part of many
Christian families. In religions such as Muslim religion some certain animals are refereed to as
unclean animals, this is animals such as the pig and dog. This is why some Muslim families keep dogs
but they will not be allowed in the house they will be outside as a working dog or used to guard the
premiss.
When dealing with a client is is important to take in to consideration their religious beliefs when it
comes to treating there animal, this may mean that some types of treatment that may need to be given
cant be due to the religious beliefs. This would then mean

How Is Rip Van Winkle A Hero
Rip Van Winkle is an ineffectual male hero who cannot support his farm or family. Instead of facing
the consequences of his idleness and facing his wife, who certainly makes the problem worse instead
of better, he sleeps for twenty years. Finally, he is of such an age that his idleness is excusable and
allowed. This makes him an antithesis to the American dream. He has no ambition, he does not work
hard for himself, and he does not rise above where he began. He just likes to chat and have friends. He
also sleeps through what was the defining moment of American history, and upon waking, he does not
even care. This develops him as the American anti hero, for he takes no part in the country s founding
or history. His story makes sense as more of an Old World story, one that the Dutch settlers, in their
relatively old village, can retell. The story also shows that great historical events are often less
important than the daily happenings in an individual s life. The only oppressor Rip Van Winkle cares
about having overcome is his wife. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She is constantly berating Rip Van Winkle, even though everyone else in the neighborhood adores
him. We only ever see her worst side, except for the one comment made after she has died that she
always kept the house in good order. Her criticism of her husband, if far too strong, is nevertheless
deserved. He has completely failed in his role as husband, father, and breadwinner, leaving his family
in near ruin. The husband is an extreme form of deadbeat and the wife an extreme form of nagging, a
state of affairs which appears to be a lesson and warning for Irving s male and female readers alike.
The husbands should learn to be more industrious and attentive, and the wives should learn to be less
antagonistic and more understanding lest they drive their husbands further

Analysis Of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn s One Day Of The Life...
David Cheng
Ms. Chappell
AP English
15 November 2015
The Effect of Structure on Purpose in One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich One Day in the Life of
Ivan Denisovich by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn follows a Russian prison inmate, Shukhov, through a
standard day in the gulag system. The novel displays Shukhov s struggle to survive through inhumane
conditions and how he deals and tolerates his suppressive and endless lifestyle. The novel provides
insight into the differing ideals and philosophical views that the very diverse groups of prisoners hold.
By using tools such as perspective and time, Solzhenitsyn provides a platform from which he can
bring multiple levels of meaning to an otherwise monotonous and uneventful account. Time plays an
important role in the structure on One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich. The lack of chapters,
sections, or parts in the book keep the narration continuous, creating the effect of an elongated day
that drags on. In the following passage, Shukhov reveals the how time is perceived in the camp: No
zek ever lays eyes on a clock or watch... All a zek needs to know is how soon is reveille? How long till
work parade? Till dinnertime? (171) . The effect of time elongation is done with the lack of specific
times; events are only described chronologically and specific times are rarely used. Personal time is a
precious resource for the prisoners, or zeks. To the zeks, time in the prison camp is a contradiction
because there is too much of

Bacterial Cell Lab Report
Bacterial cells are smaller and simpler than plant and animal cells because they are prokaryotes and
lack membrane bound organelles. In addition, unlike animal and plant cells, bacterial cells lack a true
nucleus and mitochondria. Instead of a cell nucleus containing chromosomes, the DNA in bacterial
cells is arranged in a single circular strand in the cytoplasm.
Bacteria tend to multiply very rapidly under favorable conditions, forming colonies of millions or
even billions of organisms within a space as small as a drop of water. Bacteria also spreads and can
survive in extreme conditions via a process called sporulation. Sporulation involves repackaging
genetic contents into small reproductive bodies called spores, which contain little water, have a low
metabolism, do not divide and feature an impermeable, multilayered envelope. They can grow into
new bacteria once their environment replenishes its nutrients.
I was able to observe the shape of bacteria cells in this lab because millions of bacterial cells had
grown into colonies making them visible. 5 shapes of bacteria are spherical (cocci), rod (bacilli), spiral
(spirilla), comma (vibrios) or corkscrew (spirochaetes). They can exist as single cells, in pairs, chains
or clusters. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In his test, bacteria that retain the crystal violet dye do so because of a thick layer of peptidoglycan

resistant against antibodies because of their impenetrable cell wall. I believe the technique would be
useful in this experiment to learn about and distinguish both types of

Nanotechnology and Natural Products as Novel Anti-cancer...
INTRODUCTION:
There are new approaches and agents against certain types of cancer that are urgently needed. Some of
the new agents use highly advanced technology utilizing nanoencapsulation that will improve the
therapeutic index of the natural drugs. Nanoparticles for cancer therapeutics are rapidly evolving and
are being introduced in an attempt to overcome several limitations of conventional small molecule
chemotherapeutics. Though chemotherapy is successful to some extent in certain cancers, it has
several limitations (14). I will be discussing three natural products (Currcumin, Thymoquinone and
Genistein) from plants that have anti cancer effects. These three natural products have been studied for
its antitumor mechanism against ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is due to the invasive ability of pancreatic cancer cells during the early stages of carcinogenesis.
Therefore, a majority of patients diagnosed with pancreatic cancer often results in death due to
metastatic disease, even after treatment, making it very complex and difficult to treat (2).
NATURAL PRODUCTS:
Small organic molecules derived naturally from microbes and plants have provided for over 40 years a
number of useful cancer chemotherapeutic drugs. (20) A variety of natural products have been
discovered over the last decade to inhibit human cancer cell proliferation. These compounds represent
a whole new range of structurally diverse structures for anticancer drug discovery. I will focus on
three natural products derived from plants that have anti cancer effects. The natural products are as
follows: Currcumin, thymoquinone and genistein.
UTILIZING NATURAL PRODUCTS:
The hunt for naturally occurring lead compounds has continued in recent years, and are being
investigated for their anti cancer activities. Selected new compounds or their derivatives that are
described have been obtained for the first time recently from organisms of diverse biological origin,
with potential use as cancer chemotherapeutic agents. As a result, the supply of a given natural
product sample may be improved, and it may be possible to determine a beginning notion of structure
activity relationships and of its

Interpreters Of Maladies
Literary Analysis of Interpreters of Maladies
Interpreters of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri is a short story that focuses on a far from average family
vacation. Mr. Das and Mrs. Das take their three children on a family vacation to explore heritage and
show the children more about Indian culture. The Das family is being chauffeured by an Indian man
named Mr. Kapasi who is a translator in India that learns more about himself and the Das family on
this journey. The trip turns out to be more than expected when Mrs. Das makes a confession and her
sons life is put in danger. Interpreters of Maladies has much symbology that foreshadow many
elements. This paper will review those symbols and analyze how they reflect in the text.

How Does John Proctor Show Greed In The Crucible
Greed: the intense and selfish desire for something, greed is something that can control someone s
actions or personality. In the story The Crucibles Rev Parris let his greed take over his mind and other
choices during this period of time. Rev Parris was a merchant before he became a minister and it was
obvious that he still had a love for money. Instead of worrying and caring for his daughter who was
sick he was arguing with his members about his ministers salary . John Proctor didn t have much
respect for Rev Parris because when Parris came to Salem he wanted golden candlesticks instead of
the perfectly good ones they had. For twenty weeks he preached nothing but golden candlesticks until
he got them. Another example of Rev Parris s greed was when Abigail and Mary Warren stole Parris s
money from his strongbox, he seemed more worried about losing all of his money then his Abigail his
niece. When a man can forget his daughters sickness to argue his salary or use the podium to preach
for golden candlesticks there is an evident problem with greed for money in that person. ... Show more

As mainstream newspapers accounts of Dominicans involved in violent crime or drug trafficking
became commonplace, some white started to react with anger and blamed the new immigrants for the
city s decline (p. 117, 2011). Most Dominicans are based in Washington heights. According to an
article Published by Brennan Ortiz, This neighborhood is bordered to the south by Harlem at 155th

Leading Economic Indicators
Leading Economic indicators offer statistics and data about the economy. There are a total of ten
economic indicators that the conference board uses to gather statistics and data to determine the status
of the economy and what is expected. This helps them determine what businesses and people should
and should not do for the future of the economy Three leading economic indicators that have been on
the media lately are the average weekly hours and manufacturing, manufacturers new orders,
consumer goods and materials, and Building permits, new private housing units. The first leading
economic indicator in the latest press release of the business cycle of the United States is the average
weekly hours and manufacturing ( Description of components, 2012, February 6). For the month of
March, businesses showed acceleration in manufacturing. This is the second straight month in March
where manufacturing production has grown. The Institute for Supply Management said its
manufacturing index was 53.2 % in February while it turned out to increase to 53.7 percent for March
( US manufacturing expanded more quickly in March, 2014, April 1). This increase shows how
manufacturing production increased from February to March by .5 percent. Although this is a slight
increase this shows how there is either growth in the companies or the economy is getting better. Any
Readings of 50 percent and higher show an expansion or a growth in manufacturing period ( US

United States Debt to GDP ratio In the last year the United States has painfully reached the net public
debt to GDP ratio of 100 percent. This would be the federal government s accumulated debt that is
equal or has actually surpassed the United States Gross Domestic Product in 2010. After the debt
ceiling limit was passed, the Treasury borrowed $238 billion in 2010. This brought public debt to

The analysis of Germany, past their stated GDP and their stated debt to GDP ratio is really a study of
the EU/ECB themselves to determine the size and the liabilities that are born by their largest economic
member so that we can fully assess the financial condition of Germany.
Historically, from 1995 until 2011, Germany Government Debt to GDP averaged 65.3 Percent
reaching an all time high of 83.0 Percent in December of 2010 and a record low of 55.6 Percent in
December of 1995. A chart with historical data for Germany Government Debt to GDP is on page 5.
When compared to the United States, Germany by far has a lower debt to GDP ratio. One reason alone
is that Germany is only the size of Oregon, therefore, the population is nowhere near that of the
United States. Germany which has the third largest economy in the world, currently owes around 65%
of their GDP, whereas the United States is at 100 percent. Some facts why the United States has a
higher Debt to GDP ratio are: public debt as percent of GDP the U.S. has 9.4% larger gross debt as
expressed in % of GDP, Government Surplus/Deficit as percent of GDP USA has 5.1percent greater
deficit as expressed in percent of GDP, GDP Growth Rate
USA GDP is growing 0.7percent more over a 10 year period and GDP by Sector the U.S. has a
slightly more industry based economy

Abuse of vulnerable adults
PRINCIPLES OF SAFEGUARDING AND PROTECTION IN HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE
Within the care sector there are many individuals who rely and depend on the help and support of
others such as nurses, social workers and support workers. When this level of trust and responsibility
exists it is important that these individuals are able to feel safe and confident and not at risk to abuse.
It is therefore our responsibility as carers to ensure there are safeguarding procedures in place to
protect all individuals from any form of abuse at all times. In order to effectively safeguard against
abuse within health and social care settings it is first important to identify types of abuse so as to see
how the risk of abuse can be restricted and also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This could be an individual missing meals or medication because staff fail to realise these needs have
not been met. In situations where staffing levels are insufficient this type of abuse is more likely to
arise as staff may be unable to cover the work load depriving individuals of care or support. It is also
essential to maintain high levels of staff communication to ensure information such as medicinal
requirements or hygiene routines are carried out, particularly with individuals who may have
communication difficulties or are non verbal. If an individual is displaying signs of poor hygiene, dirty
clothes or other visual indications that they are not being properly supported it is important to
investigate why and ensure this is not due to staff negligence. Discriminatory Discriminatory abuse
can be any form of abuse that has arisen from prejudice towards a person s beliefs, race, sexuality,
gender, disability, age etc. This is a very personal form of abuse and can be avoided by staff working
as a team and being aware of any personal problems/differences or conflicts of interest. It is important
to identify if abuse has occurred in a discriminatory manner as this can help identify if abuse is likely
to occur again. Some individuals may have religious beliefs that require support or may restrict diet
therefore it is important for staff to be aware of any individuals requirements. Institutional This form
of abuse can perhaps be more

Richard T. Lambert s Argumentative Analysis
Considerable debate remains around how to read Aquinas on cognition. Some scholars, most recently
Richard T. Lambert, argue that Aquinas is predominantly Aristotelian. Other scholars argue that
Aquinas is predominantly Augustinian or following broad Neoplatonic impulses. The sheer extent of
scholarly attention Aquinas has sustained over the centuries makes the material difficult to wade
through and avoiding controversial claims impossible. Therefore, the following summary is an
interpretation one possible reading which I hope you will find convincing for the sake of the

  • 2. Cultural Change In Ancient Egypt Let s take an imaginary trip some 6828 miles to Egypt. The Ancient Egyptian civilization is exceptionally famous because it continued without massive cultural change for almost 3,000 years. All its cities were built beside the Nile, a very manageable river; making farming easy and productive (Minds, 2015). According to an article in Egypt Travel Guide, Egyptian cuisine combines many of the best traditions of African, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cooking, and is both delicious and healthy. Fruit, such as dates and olives, picked from the trees combine with vegetables, meats and fresh fish, aromatic herbs and spices to create colorful and flavorsome dishes (Egypt travel guide, 2015). From this information, I chose to become familiar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Certain foods are prohibited from eating. Muslims who observe Islam usually doesn t eat pork or pork products. Some Muslims only eat fish that have scales. At the end of each fast day, they usually break their fast with dates, water, fruit juice or soup. The unique Egyptian cuisine has been influenced throughout history, particularly by its neighbors from the Middle East. Persians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, and Ottomans. More recently, the foods of other Arabic people in the Middle East such as the Lebanese, Palestinians, Syrians, as well as some foods from Europe, have affected the Egyptian diet. • 3. Essay on Ritalin, Helpful and Harmful Ritalin Helpful and Harmful When 20/20 and Oprah did segments about ADD on television, many parents felt that they finally knew what was wrong with their kids. They rushed to the doctor s office to find out how they could fix the problem. Most soon discovered a drug called Ritalin. It sounded simple. All they had to do was give their rambunctious or hyperactive child a pill three or four times a day, and magically he or she would be a perfect little angel. Most were so happy to find a cure that they did not stop to contemplate other methods of treatment, possible side effects, or get a second opinion. Dr. Sharon Collins believes this is because, It takes time for parents and teachers to talk to kids. It takes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many experts feel physicians should be more aware of the side effects of the drug and look to alternate solutions before prescribing Ritalin. Some experts also believe that Ritalin should be only part of the treatment for patients with ADD or ADHD. The drug, which now saturates the market, produces the same sensations as the narcotic speed if someone who is not ADD or ADHD takes it. Because of its narcotic nature, Ritalin is considered by law to be a controlled substance, and its dosage and intake must be carefully monitored. Parents see Ritalin as a quick fix and urge doctors to prescribe it for their children, thus leading to premature or improper diagnoses, more people having adverse side effects to the drug, and an increased availability of the drug for non medicinal purposes. Many doctors do not take the time to perform a complete evaluation of the patient who is suspected to have ADD or ADHD. They listen to the teacher or parent and assume because the child has a short attention span or is very hyperactive that the child must have ADD. The doctors do not take time to examine other possibilities for the child s behavior such as learning disabilities, depression, or anxiety disorders that look like ADHD, but do not need Ritalin (Hancock 55). This need to find a quick fix has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Ap Excerpt Research Paper Spring Prompt 2016 Greta Slaats One day I was taking a hike in the Himalayan mountains and came upon a big wall of stone blocking the path. In the middle of the stone wall was a round little door with a key hanging on a hook beside it. Being cautious I crept up to the door and knocked. I don t know who would have answered the door if someone had answered. I was puzzled and stuck to the spot thinking of what to do. I decided to walk back to my village way down below and come back tomorrow to see if the wall was still there. When I got home I ran straight to the town square to go to my father s workshop. I told Papa all about my journey in the mountains. He warned me of animals that would take me away to the darkest corners and eat me up. Just then Tijana came running into the store. There is a tiger in the rice fields! he shouted. Every once in awhile the wild beasts from the jungle would come into the valley in which the village sat. Our bravest men would shoot arrows and protect us. When the creature went away or was dead we would celebrate, but that never ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After I had dropped Tijana off at his house I decided to go up to the door again. Tijana was not coming with me for he was to much of a burden. Once I got up to the door I heard growling and there was a tiger right about 25 yards away from me. I froze because he could have killed me right then and there. The only option was to go through the door so I took that way out. Slowly, I grabbed the key and unlocked the door and in one swift motion I quickly slipped through the ... • 5. Descriptive Essay On The Border If I had to give the word luck a meaning, I would start by stating that being born to my Mexican parents and being raised in the international border between Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua and its sister city of El Paso, Texas where two cultures clash and become one, has made me an incredibly lucky person. Being able to move freely between both countries has given me the ability to observe and understand the environment from two different perspectives. In a time of globalization, and taking out of the equation old and recent political events that don t respond to progress, the traditional idea of a border seems long lost. Throughout my life, I have been exposed to the realities that make a border a complex setting. On average 22,000 people cross the Juarez El Paso border daily; 1,000 of them being students seeking a better education; others are part of the workforce that impulses the economy of both cities working either in any of the 350 maquiladoras in the area or other jobs. On the other hand, some people enjoy crossing the border to visit family or to spend a day in one of the many shopping centers in the El Paso area as well as in other entertainment events. The border offers a strong sense of culture and traditions on both sides which serves its people and visitors. This international relationship is critical to the lives of many people, yet especially Mexican Americans, like me. I grew up in Cd. Juarez, in a house and an engraving business that my father inherited from his father, a man who landed in Juarez seeking opportunities that he later turned into a business. Given the fact that my father, just like my grandfather, didn t have formal higher education, and still was able to run a successful business, has taught me the value of hard work and dedication. I also learned the basic concepts of team work, through my mother who would help my father with the business. The combination of these qualities allowed me and my siblings to grow up in a healthy environment until it all changed about a decade ago during the dark times of the border. The drug war exploded and Cd. Juarez had become famous as one of the most dangerous cities. The streets were filled with violence and a numerous amount of people were ... • 6. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Working Alone These days, there are many companies that prefer working in teams rather than for each person to be working individually. They view working in groups as a more efficient and faster way to complete the tasks given. But what the companies overlook, is that not everyone works better in teams. There are two types of people, introverts and extroverts. Introverts are people who prefers to be alone as they are the type that enjoys thinking to themselves. They often avoid socializing with others as it clears their mind better to be alone. While being the opposite, extroverts enjoys being around people more and tend to get bored easily when alone. They are the type to think while they talk instead of thinking to themselves. People who are introverts are especially the type who work better by themselves. There is also a plausibility of conflicts breaking out when certain people work in a group together. This can be due to poor communication, weak leadership, change in leadership, dissatisfaction with management style, seeking power and etc. For example, when two employees who don t see eye to eye were to be sent to work in the same department, there would immediately arouse a tension in the air. Adding on that they are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 9. Theo 104 Biblical Worldview Essay Worldview Biblical Essay Theology 104 Ericka Morales Introduction: The term image of God occurs three times in the Bible. In Genesis 1:26 27 and 9:6, we find out that man is created in the image of God. In 2 Cor. 4:4 we see the phrase used in reference to Jesus who is the image of God. There is no exact understanding of what the phrase means, but we can generalize. It would seem that the first two verses refer to God s character and attributes that are reflected in people. The term cannot be a reference to a physical appearance of God since Jesus says in John 4:24 that God is Spirit, and in Luke 24:39 Spirit does not have flesh and bones. Therefore, we can conclude that the image of God deals with humanity s reflection of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Example 2: God wants us to have a heart of compassion for others. Compassion involves feeling, but it involves so much more. If we only feel, then we are sympathetic. If our sympathy motivates us to act, then it becomes compassion. True compassion feels and it acts. Notice that compassion begins with feeling. Without feeling, there is no compassion. Feeling is not enough, but it is a place to begin. If we do not weep for those who are hurting, how can we minister to them? We must be about the Savior s preoccupation with people. I believe that if we serve hurting people, encourage those in despair, help those in need, and hurt with those in pain, we will have not only enriched their lives but have done exactly what God would want us to do. • 10. Analysis Of Robert Frost And The Tuft Of Flowers There once lived a fellow named Robert Frost, who was one of the greatest poets of the 20th century. In the year 1874, Robert s life began in San Francisco. He lived there for eleven years with his family until his father died. When that happened, Robert, his mother, and little sister all moved to Massachusetts. There, Robert went to high school and graduated top of his class. He went on to complete only one term at Dartmouth College, and after that, two years at Harvard University. After leaving college, Robert worked as a farmer and later as a factory worker for a short time. Next, he taught English at Pinkerton Academy for four years. Mr. Frost s wrote many poems, one of which is called The Tuft of Flowers, is one of Frost s earlier works. Accordingly, the focus this essay will be analyzing that poem and comparing it with another Robert Frost wrote. There are two parts of this essay, analyzing the first poem using four elements of poetry: theme, imagery, sound, and symbol, and the second part is a comparison of the first another written by Frost, Acquainted with the Night. In the beginning of The Tuft of Flowers, a newly mown field can be seen. The flowers and tall grasses, which had been a haven and a joy for insects, animals, and people, were unceremoniously assaulted by the blade of the workman. The author of the poem is observing the scene, alone; his loneliness is evident. However, this hopelessness is as he was before he noticed the tuft of flowers. He viewed all ... • 11. Examples Of Discrimination In To Kill A Mockingbird The United States, for hundreds of years, was what the majority of the world looked at as the prime example of racism and discrimination. A pitiful example of how humans can treat each other under the right conditions. The lynching, torture and outright cold blooded murder of African Americans in the USA. This behaviour was evident (mostly within the South) after the influential Plessy v. Ferguson in 1896 onward, up until the Civil Rights movements which managed to squash much of the institutional discrimination. One could see a manifestation of this in 1960, with Harper Lee releasing the classic racial commentary To Kill a Mockingbird , she managed to illuminate many injustices faced by the Black communities in the deep South scrutinising ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The injustices served to the Black community were fought, often lost, but nevertheless fought. The African Americans of the South were being stripped of their right to a fair and just trial to degrade African Americans as a people. We see this in the many trials which unjustly convicted innocent African Americans, To Kill a Mockingbird does a great job at illustrating this, Harper Lee uses Tom Robinson along with a clearly obvious court case (in favour of Tom) to clearly show the extreme bias within the courts, as Tom does not receive the respect, or consideration of the White jurors or prosecutor (with Tom, in turn, being sentenced to death when he is clearly innocent). Harper wanted to show that, while Blacks were being given their constitutional right to a fair trial, these trials, were far from fair, they were a despicable combination of Kangaroo Court and Show Trialing and the book helped bring this fact to light for many northern readers whom may not come across such information otherwise. But there were many triumphs as well, the court case known as Brown v. Board of Education , one of the most influential cases in all of civil rights history. It proved that Blacks are still resilient to the discrimination within their society and that change, especially in regards to education (one of the most important parts of one s life). Brown v. Board of Education led to the end of segregated schools in the U.S., ruling them to be unconstitutional, overriding the ruling of Plessy v. Ferguson (that being, separate but equal, which ended up as an Orwellian more equal than others scenario). This ruling meant that children of all races would be allowed to enjoy the fruits of Western education, it empowered the next generation of African Americans, not simply in a civil mentality way, but in a literal ... • 13. How Does Society s Ridicule Affect Frankenstein Both Victor and his creation suffer internally from the ridicule of society. Victor has always been a family man, and was interested in learning. Eventually, Victor would find himself in a prominent institute where he becomes obsessed with creating life. To give more insight, Telgen Diane explains Readers get the distinct feeling that Victor s inquisitive nature causes his emotional and physical peril because he cannot balance his intellectual and social interactions. For instance, when he leaves home to attend the University of Ingolstadt, he immerses himself in his experiment and forgets about the family who lovingly supported him throughout his childhood (Diane 188). His family was very prominent and were on the top of society. Internally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the book they both suffer the same fate dying alone which is a fear Victor and his creature especially had. Victor always prided himself around his family, and was always the most wretched when they passed. The creature wanted a mate to bond with no matter how miserable the conditions were because at least he would have someone to love and die with. Victor failed in doing this, and suffered the consequences for his failure to comply to the simple needs of his creation. To further analyze, T.J Madigan explains If Frankenstein can be faulted as indeed he can it is not for hubris, but rather for the very qualities he mentions above, cowardice and carelessness. For he performs his operation without telling anyone else, and when his creation comes to life, he rejects it by running away and hoping the creature will die. This rejection of what he has brought about his failure to share his findings with the scientific community, or the people around him ultimately leads to tragedy (Madigan). Victor was too afraid of being ousted by the scientific community if he shared this. If Victor had done so, he may have been either taken as a joke or an evil doer. Victor may have had help to control his creature and avoid death all over, but it is because of the ridicule of the society that stopped him from sharing his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the 60s Takata began to shift towards the automobile safety industry by selling seat belts to car manufacturers. The corporation supplied the first Japanese car manufacturer to have seat belts as part of the vehicle s standard design. Takata found success in the new industry, which led the firm to expand into airbags as well as child safety restraint systems. With its strategic decision to enter the automobile safety industry Takata was reaping the benefits. The firm commanded a major portion of the airbag market, eventually becoming one of the top three airbag manufacturers in the automotive industry. However, despite the company s early contributions to automobile safety, recent events have tarnished the firm s reputation. Takata has continually failed to address and correct a potentially fatal malfunction within in its airbag design. Decisions, driven by a desire to reduce production costs, have forced the company to abandon its corporate social responsibility, harming various stakeholders in the process. It is unfortunate that the once respected firm has irreparably damaged its image. In an industry where defects and mistakes by manufacturers can potentially kill consumers, public trust in the firm is immensely important. Consumers need to know that a firm is committed to creating not only economic value, but societal and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. World Order Research Paper The world order, in general, refers to the economic, political or social state of affairs prevailing in the world at a given time and the corresponding effect this has on the different relationships countries have among each other. In this essay, I will argue that the world order is not in fact changing and that we are not witnessing a power shift from the West to the rest of the world. To prove this, I will analyse in terms of hard and soft power how the West is still the more dominant party. Firstly, I will compare the military and economic power of the US and China and come to the conclusion that the US is the more dominant power. Next, I will demonstrate how in terms of foreign policy and political power the US commands more soft power ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It could, therefore, be argued that these increased political tensions may cause the US to lose key allies and in turn help China become the more favoured country. However, in recent times, China has proven to be arrogant, aggressive and rude when it comes to executing its foreign policy. Many countries, including Japan and India, claim to find it increasingly challenging to cooperate with China and this has done nothing but push said countries towards the US and cemented the US s global power. Therefore, it is clear that even in terms of soft power, the US scores much higher than China and as a result there will be no shift in power which re emphasizes the fact that the world order is not changing. In conclusion, I have argued that the world order is not changing. In order to prove this, I have first established that in terms of hard power (militarily and economically) the US is the more dominant power and as a result there appears to be no power shift. Furthermore, I have shown that even in terms of soft power (using foreign aid and foreign policy) the US still scores ahead of China, once again indicating no signs of a power ... • 17. The Prediction Of Fullerene Structure Fullerene was first recorded in a Japanese article, Kagaku, written by Eiji Osawa in 1970 which stated the prediction on the existence of C60 compound [1]. In the following year, a conjecture on the stability of C60 was established by Osawa and Yoshida where the aromatic characteristic of C60 was described further. The stability was further better explained when the Hückel s calculation method was applied and introduced to the icosahedron structure of C60 by Bochvar and Gal pern [2]. The prediction of fullerene structure was discussed based on graphite balloon speculation made by David Jones using pseudonym of Daedalus in a journal, The Scientist [3]. This speculation was essentially describing the gas phase carbon cluster in the form of geodesic cages which is applied to giant fullerenes compound [2]. Fullerenes can be described as closely packed carbon cages hold in rings of, most commonly, hexagons and pentagons with sp2 hydridised carbons. In some larger structure with more than 100 carbons, heptagonal rings may present. A large numbered fullerene will require larger cage to obtain the most least steric angle between the bonds and the structure might have a surface of concaved [4]. Figure 1 and Figure 2 show the cage structures of fullerenes C60 and C70. Both of these fullerenes are the most stable fullerene with more planar and larger nearly spherical structure and have higher thermodynamic stability with positive enthalpy change of formation, ∆H_f [4]. • 18. The Purchasing Power Parity ( Ppp ) And I Will Divide This... Introduction: A quote from Adam Smith s book shows the distinguishes between money and wealth : It would be too ridiculous to go about seriously to prove that wealth does not consist in money, or in gold and silver; but in what money purchases, and is valuable only for purchasing. This quote means the money purchases seems to be more important than money itself, in other words, this view is consistent with many economists who think the purchasing power is important. There is two type of fundamental international financial relationships: first is the Purchasing power parity which occurs in goods and services market, the second is the interest parity which occurs in the money market. Both relationships state the association among interest rate, inflation rates, and change in exchange rates. In this paper, I will only focus on discussing the Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) and I will divide this paper into four sections. In section 1, I will come up with the definition of PPP and other theories behind it. For section 2, I will briefly introduce the absolute PPP and relative PPP and empirical evidence on PPP. Section 3 explains empirical test of PPP in practice and the problem of PPP. For the last section, there are conclusion and remarks. Section 1: Understanding Purchasing power parity In this section, I will define the purchasing power parity and other theories behind PPP. WHAT IS PPP? Early in the 21st century, the Australian Accounting Standards board, with guidance from the Financial Reporting Council (FRC), decided to implement IFRS s throughout Australia. This decision was made so that Australia could participate and contribute to the development of a distinct set of accounting standards that could be used all around the world. This report will explore the process of setting standards in Australia, the effects it can have on interest groups, and the way in which the introduction of IFRS would change the way Australian accountants report their financial position. (Deloitte, 2005, A IFRS vs. IFRS). Process of Setting Standards I believe that the process of setting standards, both in Australia, and on an international level, is a political process. It involves politics to a great extent in a number of ways. For example, politics are involved during the standard setting process, as the groups involved are all government groups which are statutory bodies under various acts, this is politics. The affects that the standards have on stakeholders in Australian companies as well as the economy as a whole, is also linked to politics. The FRC advises the Australian government on the process in which accounting standards are set, as well as advising the direction in which the AASB will head. The AASB is responsible for standard setting in Australia. This is in eastern religions(Buddhism,Hinduism,Jainism), a value is given to the animals life so that if any cruelty or euthanasia could potentially harm another human when it comes to incarnation. Most Christianity nations perceive animals as a possession. So any kind of cruelty/ damage to there possession is not tolerated. Instead of facing the consequences of his idleness and facing his wife, who certainly makes the problem worse instead of better, he sleeps for twenty years. Finally, he is of such an age that his idleness is excusable and allowed. This makes him an antithesis to the American dream. He has no ambition, he does not work hard for himself, and he does not rise above where he began. He just likes to chat and have friends. He also sleeps through what was the defining moment of American history, and upon waking, he does not even care. This develops him as the American anti hero, for he takes no part in the country s founding or history. His story makes sense as more of an Old World story, one that the Dutch settlers, in their relatively old village, can retell. The story also shows that great historical events are often less important than the daily happenings in an individual s life. David Cheng Ms. Chappell AP English 15 November 2015 The Effect of Structure on Purpose in One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn follows a Russian prison inmate, Shukhov, through a standard day in the gulag system. The novel displays Shukhov s struggle to survive through inhumane conditions and how he deals and tolerates his suppressive and endless lifestyle. The novel provides insight into the differing ideals and philosophical views that the very diverse groups of prisoners hold. By using tools such as perspective and time, Solzhenitsyn provides a platform from which he can bring multiple levels of meaning to an otherwise monotonous and uneventful account. Time plays an important role in the structure on One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich. The lack of chapters, sections, or parts in the book keep the narration continuous, creating the effect of an elongated day that drags on. In the following passage, Shukhov reveals the how time is perceived in the camp: No zek ever lays eyes on a clock or watch... All a zek needs to know is how soon is reveille? How long till work parade? Till dinnertime? (171) . • 23. Bacterial Cell Lab Report Bacterial cells are smaller and simpler than plant and animal cells because they are prokaryotes and lack membrane bound organelles. In addition, unlike animal and plant cells, bacterial cells lack a true nucleus and mitochondria. Instead of a cell nucleus containing chromosomes, the DNA in bacterial cells is arranged in a single circular strand in the cytoplasm. Bacteria tend to multiply very rapidly under favorable conditions, forming colonies of millions or even billions of organisms within a space as small as a drop of water. Bacteria also spreads and can survive in extreme conditions via a process called sporulation. Sporulation involves repackaging genetic contents into small reproductive bodies called spores, which contain little water, have a low metabolism, do not divide and feature an impermeable, multilayered envelope. They can grow into new bacteria once their environment replenishes its nutrients. I was able to observe the shape of bacteria cells in this lab because millions of bacterial cells had grown into colonies making them visible. 5 shapes of bacteria are spherical (cocci), rod (bacilli), spiral (spirilla), comma (vibrios) or corkscrew (spirochaetes).
