Alex loses his sense of purpose, and becomes a machine that is fed instructions from The State.
Humans are able to make their own decisions and Alex is not. Alex refers to himself as a clockwork
orange because he believes he is only a clockwork toy to be wound up and controlled.
Man is defined by his actions, and Alex cannot decide his own actions so he ceases to be a man. A
man that cannot choose is actions is the same as a man that does wrong because once Alex s free will
is restored Alex commits more violent acts. Alex is released from prison and becomes a victim of the
people he once victimized. F. Alexander believed Alex was responsible for the death of his wife and

An Excerpt From The Story Of Anne Frank
Screeech! The sound of a car from below freezes all eight people living in a hidden annex, as they
look to each other for comfort. The best theme from the story of Anne Frank is that everyone needs
someone with whom to share life s experiences, although others may believe that a better theme is that
people need a sense of direction in their lives. Everybody needs someone to lean on, and no one can
get through the trials of life alone. The first piece of evidence to support the theme everyone needs
someone with whom to share life s experiences can be found on page 488 in the Anne Frank play. Mr.
Frank has just returned from his time in concentration camp during the war and he is talking to his
friend Miep Gies. His entire family was killed during the second world war. So now Miep is one of the
only close companions he knows. He returned to the secret hidden annex where he and seven others,
including his family hid during the war to escape punishments in concentration camps. Mr. Frank also
talked to Miep about the memories like Anne s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is when Anne and Peter have a small conversation in Peter s bedroom. Anne reminisces while she
gleams at the pictures hanging on Peter s wall. She remember that she won one of the pictures with
one of her friends, Jopie, before the war. Anne along with Peter, discussed what they wanted to do
once the war is over, when they are grown up. Anne said that she wanted to become a journalist,
because she has a passion for writing. Peter said that he d rather do something on a farm that doesn t
take a lot of thought. This supports the theme of everyone needs someone with whom to share life s
experiences. Anne and Peter talk about their aspirations, and share this time with each other, really
telling the other person how they truly feel. Sharing time with Peter helped Anne realize how she had

Bigotry And Prejudice Similarities
Prejudice and bigotry are similar in ways of singling out a group of people and disliking them. In
history prejudice has escalated quickly into wars, most notable of such would be, world war II (Hitler
s concentration camps) and the American Civil war (battle for slave freedom in the U.S.) Anybody is
capable of being prejudice, the battle of prejudice has been around as long as we have documentation
for. Prejudice is even found in the Bible, when the Hebrews were being held as slaves in Egypt and
Moses came in leading them to the promise land of Jerusalem. Prejudice is caused by the stereotyping
of a group of people without getting to know them. One could link this to sociocultural psychology,
because they are basing their hatred to a certain

Harold And Maude, A Film Released In 1971 And Directed
Harold and Maude, a film released in 1971 and directed by Hal Ashby is a provocative and relevant
anti establishment film against today s society s traditional definition of love and marriage. The
definition being that the older man and the younger woman is acceptable to us simply because a
marriage is about propagating children. Through the relationship of Harold, a twenty year old man,
and Maude, an eighty year old woman, Ashby presents us with the ultimate love story, one which is
not set within the acceptable limitations of conventionality, yet it teaches us that love can be simple,
genuine, and unselfish.
Throughout the film we get to experience alongside Harold his blossoming into his true self, most of
which can be attributed to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Ph.D. psychologist Nando Pelusi, The desire for certainty and genetic possession of a
partner is an ancient commandment, based on maintaining one s status and honor. Deferring from
today s society that has a twisted idea of love, in which it is demonstrated through a mixture of control
and jealousy, Maude s love for Harold is genuine and event innocent in a way due to its lack of
possessiveness. This is clearly shown in the phrase that Maude said to him on her deathbed, Oh! That
s wonderful, Harold. Go and love some more. (Harold and Maude) With just two single phrases she s
able to express that she loves him so deeply that what she truly wants is for him to be happy, even if it
won t necessarily be with her.
For the characters love to be truly ultimate they need to have some limitations; in this case the core
and foremost limitation being the institution of marriage, since Harold and Maude think differently
when desisting to this establishment. Even when authority figures in Harold s life abundantly criticize
their relationship and demean Maude s body into an old and withered corpse; Harold is still willing to
give in to the establishment of marriage his mother was presenting him with. He was of course
relinquishing in his own way, yet the fact that he was complying with it was a limitation, since unlike
Harold, Maude never conceded into that establishment. At the end of the film Harold was planning to

Persuasive Essay On Truck Drivers
Truck drivers are essential to this country s economy. Truck driving is one of the only ways that this
country has found to transport most of the goods we produce. There are many flaws in the other ways
we transport goods. As the demand for supply goes up the demand for truck drivers will go up as well.
Driving a tractor trailer or a semi trailer is a great career because of the job outlook, the work
environment, and the benefits and compensation.
Driving a truck can be a great way to make a living without a college degree. Truck driving is one to
the most rapid growing occupations. The Commercial Vehicle Training Association states that, The
truck driver occupation is listed as an occupation with the most growth by the Department of Labor,
Bureau of Labor Statistics. (Commercial Vehicle Training Association) This is very good for people
who are trying to get into this occupation. This means that anyone that passes all the requirements is
basically guaranteed a job. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration says, The Administration
operates a program to improve safety performance and remove high risk carriers from the Nation s
highways. (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) Programs like this exist to help make the
roads as safe as possible for everyone. Without these programs there would be hundreds of careless
and unsafe drivers on the road. In closing, many programs have been setup to keep all other drivers
and the company s materials safe.
Truck driving is very demanding because of the long periods spent away from home and the constant
driving for a long time. Also some drivers have to load and unload their cargo. The ATA states that,
Working as a long haul truck driver is a major lifestyle choice because these drivers can be away from
home for days or weeks at a time. They spend much of this time alone. (American Trucking
Association) These truck driver s lives are not easy. They spend most of their time on the road and
alone and most of the time when they reach their destination, they have to unload what is in the trailer.
The NAPFTDS says that, All graduates must be able to demonstrate that they meet federal, state, and
local standards as required for professional truck

Analysis Of Tim Burton s The Brilliant Joker Essay
It is easy to empathize with Jack Nicholson s brilliant Joker as he laments in Tim Burton s classic
1989 film, Batman, Where does he get those wonderful toys? The average person may not be
villainously inclined, but one can certainly relate to having their best laid plans constantly being
thwarted. Though, to be fair, probably very few people would take issue with someone as awesome as
the Batman getting in their way. Despite being a mere mortal, Batman and his fellow graphic novel
heroes serve as present day gods akin to the ancient Greek gods of Rome. There are a great many
things that set Batman apart from his colleagues, however; chief among them are his tragic origin
story, the best villains in modern literature, his total lack of superpowers, wealth, and endless
interpretations.
Everyone loves a good origin story. Superman s parents are killed in the explosion of their home
planet, Krypton, and spare him from the same fate by shipping him off to earth on a spacecraft. Spider
Man, who was already living with his aunt and uncle because his parents died while he was still a
child, witnesses his beloved uncle Ben die in front of his eyes at the hands of a thief. Yet Batman s
origin tale easily surpasses both in terms of flair for the dramatic. As a child, young Bruce Wayne is
walking with his parents, Thomas and Martha, through an alley after having left a screening of the
Mark of Zorro. Gunmen seeking to steal Martha s exposed pearls approach the family. An altercation

Effects Of Regime Type On The Duration Of War And War On...

[Title]
Introduction What is the effect of regime type on the duration of war and war s impact on political
leaders? And how do these effects range in comparison to other variables, such as wealth, military
power, or alliances? I hypothesize the following: longer wars have a worse impact on democracies
than on dictatorships and mixed regimes, and as a result are shorter. In the first section of this paper, I
define key terms used throughout the paper and review literature and theory related to the topic of war
and regime type. In the next section, I
Background and Literature Review Using [cite] s definition of regime type, I have identified three
types of regimes in this paper: democracies, dictatorships, and mixed regimes. Democracies are
defined as regimes that do not repress its people and include the highest proportion of the populace;
dictatorships are highly repressive and exclude most of the population; and mixed regimes use
moderate repression and exclude a significant proportion of their populace (CITE). To understand the
reasoning behind my hypothesis, I turn to the democratic and inter democratic peace theories, in
which my hypothesis is fundamentally rooted. These theories come from the liberal school of thought
in international relations and posit that democracies do not, or are less likely, to go to war, and do not
go to war with other democracies (Elman 758). There is much scholarly

Characteristics Of The Green Knight
In this paper I will discuss the ideas, cultures, characteristics of the Middle Ages are referenced and
how their presence interlocks in the work. Sir Gawain s quest covers his obligation to have success on
the test of becoming a Green Knight. This would help have return blow for the following Christmas.
Because the Green Knight proposed a challenge, Gawain was required to follow the terms of the
agreement. The journey to find the Green Knight is a sequence of temptations. He lodges at the Castle
Bertilak, and completed bargains with his host. Gawain will exchange anything he gambles on with
the Bertilak catches on the hunt.
Several philosophies have developed in many societies since the first societies of Mesopotamia to the
world now are duty, loyalty and bravery. No other period depends on these ideas more than the Middle
Ages time of Europe. The European civilizations were based on the nature of feudalism. Feudalism
worked if everyone in the society did their duty and gave loyalty to everyone above on the social
latter. The knight was the main support of the feudal society. He was the protector of the heavenly
Lord, their lady and the earthly lord. The roles and duties of the knight are quotes as, the most noble
knight under Christ, And the loveliest lades that lived on earth ever, and he the comeliest king, that the
court holds. (P. 26) Sir Gawain and the Green Knight gives a perspective to understand life from the
civil aspect of the European feudal society.

Pre 1914 Love Poetry from the Victorian and Elizabethan Era
Conventional females were considered to be second class citizens who were expected to refrain in
conveying their natural feelings and emotions. Women were also socially neglected, as they were
expected to remain at home whilst their respective husbands ensured the upkeep of the family by
managing the family finances. The male population at this point in time ignorantly viewed women as
coy, innocent characters, seemingly unaware that women had the same feelings and emotions as
themselves.
At the time in which poets like Robert Browning lived, the majority of marriages were arranged.
Property and power were two main factors which influenced negotiations for marriage ... Show more

However, it does give us a complete impression of a Renaissance nobleman. The dramatic monologue
begins with an insight into the Duke s interest in the collection of fine artwork. In the same way, we
can establish that the Duke also enjoys the collection of women, in the way that he introduces his next
piece of art.
That s my last Duchess...
Line 1
The Duke seems to be a man who expects his wife to be the
conventional female, and abide by the strict gender roles that existed at this period in history. He
repeatedly downgrades his wife, and makes out that she doesn t appreciate the high social rank which
she has married into. He even goes as far as indicating that his wife has been unfaithful all an attempt
to really try and justify his reasons as to why he gave commands .
[She] had a heart how shall we say? too soon made glad.
Line 23
In this quote, Browning tells us that his last duchess was easily pleased by compliments that she
received from other people. We sense that she also voices her gratitude for these compliments, and in
this way, the Duke has become disillusioned and because of this, he downgrades his wife for basically
being a nice person.
In another pretty feeble attempt to justify his actions, he tries to make his wife out as a disrespectful
person. He tells how every single gift that she received from various people would draw from her
alike the approving speech . From here, the Duke

Saving Lives in Traveling through the Dark by William...
Saving Lives
The most wonderful thing in the world is being able to save the life of another. Some people have this
chance and some people do not. The people that have not had the chance might have never been in a
situation to save a person s or thing s life. Some people might have been in a situation to have saved
someone or something and not chosen to act on it. The situation can be unnoticeable and you would
have to think about it and observe the details. The poem Traveling through the Dark by William
Stafford is about making the right decisions and saving lives.
In this poem, the speaker will tell us the story of how he made the correct decision and saved the life
of many people. Traveling through the dark I found a deer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I dragged her off; (Stafford 5 8). Once the speaker stopped the car he went and observed how
dangerous the situation was. The speaker decided to drag the doe into the river so no one would
swerve to miss the deer and become injured. She was large in the belly. My fingers touching her side
brought me the reason her side was warm; her fawn lay there waiting, alive, never to be born. Beside
that mountain road I hesitated (Stafford 8 12). Once the speaker touched the belly of the doe he
realized that she was pregnant. The side of the doe was still warm so that meant her fawn was still
alive. The speaker then had to think about throwing the doe into the river, because he did not want to
kill her fawn. I thought hard for us all my only swerving , then pushed her over the edge into the river
(Strafford 17 18). The speaker tried to think of another way to keep the deer out of the road and save
her fawn but he could not figure out a better way for everyone. As the thoughts ran through his mind,
he pushed the doe into the river. The speaker decided to sacrifice the doe s fawn in order to save more
peoples lives.
The speaker of the poem is a man traveling down the road at night. The speaker is not just speaking to
a certain group; he is speaking to all mankind. The speaker is in a situation where he has to make a
decision. He is telling us his thoughts and what he thinks would be the right choice. The

Implementing A Comprehensive Audit Plan Essay
Abstract
This paper will discuss the hot topics in emerging issues that was discussed in previous assignments.
Several companies can benefit from finding ways to implement a comprehensive audit plan to reduce
the likelihood of fraud occurring. Ideas associated with the SDLC and how to create phases that will
fall in line with this execution are also detailed in this assignment. The SDLC assists in reducing fraud
and cannot be applied lightly; this plan makes the process of fraud prevention and detection easier to
succumb. Updating policies and procedures is an ongoing process that cannot go unkempt.
Establishing a Comprehensive Audit Plan
The acronym SDLC is explained as a software development lifecycle. The phases of the SDLC
include analysis and definition phases, where the purpose should be determined, the goals that need to
be accomplished, and a set of definite requirements. Establishing a comprehensive audit plan is
integral in fulfilling the successful and quality financials for a business. This should be done at the
inception of creating the company as well as routinely checked on a consistent basis. This used in
accordance with the Sarbanes Oxley Act will guarantee that the company has a sure way to mitigate
the fraud opportunity that may occur during the time of day to day operations (Strayer University
2013).
A fraud detection plan will provide the blueprint for a healthy environment in the aspect of protecting
the company and its assets. The plan will give a

The Short Story The Interlopers
Many people desire to get something, and they fight each other to win their desire. They consider each
other their enemies and do whatever it takes to be better than one another. When the enemies need
help for same problem, they unite themselves to solve the problem. The short story The Interlopers by
Saki is about unification and reveals how enemies become allies in harsh situations. Ulrich von
Gradwitz and Georg Znaeym were enemies because Ulrich was the owner of the forest land, and
Georg was trying to steal Ulrich s forest land. They met in the middle of the forest and tried to kill
each other. However, they were trapped by the huge tree that fell from a fiery storm. Waiting for their
men to rescue them, Ulrich offered Georg a wine. Ulrich von Gradwitz told Georg Znaeym that if
Ulrich s men come faster than Georg s men then Ulrich will tell the men to rescue George first, and
that they have better things to do than getting the better of a boundary dispute (Saki 86). The quote
shows that Ulrich wanted to be friends with Georg rather than fighting over who gets the forest land.
Ulrich asked George to be his friend, and George accepted his request. Waiting for their men to come
and help them, both wished that their private men would come first so they can be the first to show
honorable attention to the other (Saki 87). The quote shows that both Ulrich and Georg wanted to
prove that they are friends. Ulrich von Gradwitz and Georg Znaeym became allies from

Operational Planning, Strategic Planning And Control
Operational Planning, Strategic Planning Control The function of planning is integral to the success of
any organization and is typically achieved through the development and communication of the
organization s mission statement, vision statement, and future goal setting. To set those goals a
manager must understand present realities and future contingencies for their organization, while
creating a vision of the organization s future (Boateng, Karikari, Akafo, 2015 p. 103). Per Satterlee
(2013), the mission statement is the crucial first step of establishing the future direction of the
organization. The vision statement explains the goals of how to achieve the mission. Policies,
procedures, and rules are written and implemented ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, it is imperative to formulate the strategy regarding exactly where the company is going
with their products and services. This portion of the process is truly organizational specific according
to their needs. Last, but not least, once all the planning has been completed, executives must oversee
its implementation to successfully live up to the mission statement. Key components of successful
implementation include clear, concise, and relevant communication, focus, and perseverance. One of
the ways to ensure effective implementation is ongoing evaluation.
Operational Planning After strategic planning, has taken place and filtered down through the
management team, operational planning takes place to execute the mission. Strategic planning
provides the vision for where the organization is heading; however, operational planning is where the
intricate details establishing mission completion is completed. Per Satterlee (2013) the operational
level, an integral part of the planning process consists of specific details to whom, what, when, and
how and includes functional areas within the organization, such as marketing, finance, and distribution
(p.69). During the operational planning phase, each section within the organization is provided with
their responsibilities for task completion. Managers conducting operational planning must factor in
issues such as budgetary concerns, policy and procedures, and team

Transformation In Jane Eyre
Jane Eyre written by Charlotte Brontё, is about a young woman s life in the late 1700 s. In the novel,
the reader learns of Jane Eyre s life as an orphan, student, governess, and wife. As a young woman in
the late 1700 s, Jane experiences an immense amount of pressure and oppression from those superior
to her; almost everyone was superior to her. From childhood to adulthood, the readers witness the
transformation of Jane s confidence, opinions, and experiences. Jane Eyre is considered a
Bildungsroman novel because of these age progressions and transformations in the story.
When Jane was a child, she lived with her Aunt and cousins, John, Georgiana, and Eliza in their home
called Gateshead. Jane s parents had died and she supposedly had no other family, so her uncle
insisted on taking her, but shortly died after and Jane was left in the care of Mrs. Reed, her aunt.
Throughout her time there, Jane became the target of physical and verbal abuse, especially from her
Aunt and John. Jane remained obedient and quiet with little protest because it would only bring her
more trouble to be rowdy. She was considered a burden, and was oppressed through everything she
did. After being attacked by John, Mrs. Reed punished Jane instead of him; she got locked away in a
room where her uncle died and eventually fainted from anxiety and panic. Ever since that experience,
Jane acted more rebellious and outspoken to Mrs. Reed and even lashed out at her, speaking about
every terrible thing Mrs.

Summary Of Marie Lu s Prodigy
The way a person acts or thinks everyday may be influenced in many ways, such as the setting.Settings
could be a big impact to a character just as much as a small impact. For example, in Marie Lu s
Prodigy demonstrated the powerful effect the setting could make on a character, especially in the most
important setting in the book, the Republic. In the beginning of Prodigy, the main characters, June and
Day, are in a military city, las vegas. They felt scared, cautious and very aware. But why would normal
people feel scared in las Vegas? Well, setting may have a role in this. June and Day are the most
wanted criminals of the country, so they have to be careful not to draw attention to themselves. So,
they felt intimidated by the offers patrolling the streets and the risk of getting caught. The text states,
Troops make their way up and down the street... This is a military city, a world of soldiers...Day
shakes his head slowly. He looks unsettlingly pale (8). This illustrated that the setting, las vegas,
affected the characters. Las Vegas made Day feel uncomfortable. This setting also made June think
about the past few weeks of her life. The author writes, Vegas is the worst possible city for us to
wander into by ourselves... I m a criminal now, I ll never be able to go back to the comforts of my old
life. The thought leaves a sick, empty feeling in my stomach, as if I miss being the Republic s darling.
Maybe i do (7).To reexamine, Vegas influenced June to reassess the last few

The Race into Space
Introduction:
As many people may know, the U.S.A. went to the moon first, but what they don t know is the story
behind the space race. So, I m going to tell you about it. For example, J.F.K. s speech. Also, about just
the space space race. Lastly, about who got there first and how. J.F.K. s Speech:
J.F.K. wanted to do something new while he was president, and in my opinion, that something new
was to go to the moon. Kennedy said his speech at Rice University because he wanted the young
peoples to tell their parents to help with the rocket payments and stuff like that. In my opinion, the
best part of his speech was when he said, ...not because they are easy, but because they are hard.
All About the Race:
The space race first started in the 1950 s. On November 3, 1957 Russia lanuches Sputnik 2, to follow
up on Sputnik 1. Inside the Sputnik 2 was a small dog named Laika, and she became the first live
animal in space. Unfortunatley, Laika did not survive. Then, on Jauary 2,1959 Russia s Luna 1 is the
very first space craft to go towards the moon, but unfortunatly goes past the moon and goes into orbit
of the sun between Mars and our planet Earth. In the 60 s more stuff happened. I m not going to say
EVERYTHING that happened in the sixties but I will tell you one super awesome thing. Neil

t told you the date or the country they where from. The date was July 20, 1969, and they were from

Conclusion:
Now you know the story behind the space race, so go tell your parents cousins, Aunts, Uncles, and
maybe even friends. Remember, I told you about J.F. K s speech, the space race, and who went to the

Life Experience In My Life
Life Lesson
Almost three years ago my mom was diagnosed with Bacterial Meningitis. Bacterial Meningitis is
very life threatening if not treated immediately. It was a very scary experience for everyone. With this
experience I have learned a very important lesson, don t ever take your parents for granted because
you could easily lose them and maybe sooner then you thought.
Sinus Infection
On a Saturday morning my mom woke up with a headache saying,
This is the worst headache I ve ever had in my life. She was also super tired and almost slept all day.
My family and I just thought it was nothing or her being overreactive. My dad and brother ended up
taking her to an ER early in the afternoon. They did a CT Scan and only found a Sinus Infection. They
were lazy on testing with plenty more options just didn t want to take the time. She was sent home
with medication that did not help lessen any of her symptoms.
Arriving Home
I remember walking in after spending the day with my sister and seeing my mom s medication just on
the floor in the breezeway. She was sleeping in her room at the time but soon woke up and said,
The pain is getting worse and spreading to my neck. There was nothing we could really do; she was
diagnosed with sinus infection. Later that night I was downstairs with my brother and we were playing
the Xbox. My mom comes down and doesn t really say anything, all we heard was mumbling. I tell
her to rest in my sister s room and she tries going

Gametogenesis Lab Report
Gametogenesis Lab Report
1. Introduction
Gametogenesis refers to the production of haploid sex cells within an organism. The haploid sex cells
are composed of half of the genetic material of that from the germ line of the parents. The process of
gametogenesis could not take place without two specific organs, the ovary and the testis. These two
organs, the gonads, are composed of germ cells where meiosis occurs. Meiosis is the method that
makes the germ cells haploid. In both males and females, this phenomenon can be observed. In males,
the genetic material is passed to offspring through a process known as spermatogenesis, and in
females genetic material is passed to offspring through the process of oogenesis. However, these two
processes, although similar in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay about Alfred Hitchcock s Rope
To this day Rope, Alfred Hitchcock s first color film, remains one of the most original motion picture
dramas. With the exception of the opening credits, Rope was shot on one individual set located within
a soundstage, similar to as if a play was being performed on stage. Despite the confined space the film
occupied, the atmospheric anxiety carried on up until the very end. Furthermore, Hitchcock
successfully created a deception, of the same repetitive shot. Nonetheless, during the one hundred and
eight minute film, it s hard not to notice the closeness Phillip and Brandon shared sexually together,
making them homosexuals. The movie opened up on a street in the afternoon, directed towards an
apartment where two young men were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

discussed the problem, no one could understand why the usually reliable David didn t show up to the

same room with them. In addition, Rupert Cadell played by the compelling Jimmy Stewart arrived to
the party. During a short discussion, Brandon said, Nobody commits murder just for the experiment of
murder, (Hitchcock 1948) as he pops the bottle of champagne, Nobody except us (Hitchcock 1948)
leaving Rupert suspicious that something wasn t the way it should be. Meanwhile, Brandon enjoyed
relishing the situation and his self certainty, but Phillip was only seconds away from completely
falling apart as Rupert shot questions and innuendos left and right. Hitchcock had his ways with the
camera, capturing Phillips s emotions by Generating terrific tension, as the spectator s eye guided
relentlessly to the significant detail at the significant moment (Wood 78). Therefore, the audience is
left feeling fully engaged with the way Phillip carried tension towards Brandon, due to Hitchcock s
Suspense technique (Wood 78). For instance, Brandon was clever, sneaky and had a spiteful
mysterious humor. Yet, he seemed to get a thrill from the idea of getting away with murder. His
heartlessly daring attitude was proof as

Summary Of Ambush By Tim O Brien
In Ambush, Tim O Brien portrays a sense of regret and uncertainty as he attempts to justify his actions
of killing an enemy soldier in Vietnam. (MS 7) While O Brien camps out with his platoon mate
Kiowa, he awakens for the final watch. O Brien spots a young enemy soldier, and without hesitation
and thought, O Brien automatically pulled the pin of a grenade and tossed it at the enemy s feet.
Immediately, O Brien felt a sense of regret; he states that as soon as the grenade hit the Earth it softly
popped and the enemy soldier jerked back from the explosion of the grenade (MS 5). O Brien explains
that the memory of the young soldier continually haunts him, and he therefore carries a burden of
regret. O Brien successfully uses literary elements such as imagery, irony, and repetition to portray his
sense of regret and uncertainty (MS 2). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

One must return to the past in order to move forward , is an old African proverb that has been used to

history, but also the study of one s family history. Another saying that has been used to refer to the
study of history is, You must learn your history, or you are bound to repeat it. These principles can

After these schools were established, it was still hard for a former salve to obtain an education. Fisk
University for example, only admitted those who were the children of a female slave and a white
male, normally a slave master. Many schools during this time period adapted this same entrance
criterion. A southern school, Lincoln Normal School, did not have any bias principles rooted in their
entrance process. Peyton Finley founded Lincoln Normal School, present day Alabama State
University in 1867, in Marion, Alabama. Peyton Finley is also noted for being the first African
American appointed to the Alabama State Board of Education. Finley s involvement with the board of
education allowed him to get the American Missionary Association and the Freemen s Bureau to
provide books, supplies, teachers, and finances for the new school. However, in 1864, the American
Missionary Association went bankrupt, and could no longer support Lincoln Normal School.
Therefore, the African American community in Marion, Alabama supported the financial needs of the
school. In 1874, Lincoln Normal School became the first state supported institution in Alabama. Prior
to this significant event in the school s history, George N. Card became the first president of the
institution in 1873. George N. Card is mostly noted for serving as president when the Lincoln Normal

12 Angry Men Sociological Analysis
The film 12 angry men I chose to write about provides multiple points that can be compared to things
we have learned in sociology which we can take from this movie. This relatable, reality based film,
features a group of jurors who have to make a choice over whether or not someone is guilty or
innocent of an accused murder. At first, eleven of the twelve jurors vote guilty. Over time, through
heated discussions, the jurors are swayed to the decision of not guilty(Rosen, 2016). Upon research,
this film highlights sociology ideas in areas such as conformity, social inequality, ingroup and
outgroup, groupthink among other examples. Given the circumstance of the situation the jury is in I
would say conformity is a huge factor. Judging other s interpretations of this movie I would say often
leads to conformity due to the influences some of the characters have and the points they
make.Conformity is the act of matching attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors to group norms. The tendency
to conform occurs in small groups and in society as a whole, and may result from subtle unconscious
influences or direct and overt social pressure.(Boundless.2015) My ... Show more content on

This game show would include participants from Universities and Colleges. The show would be based
on one minute mind games that would judge the participants level of aptitude.
The participants with the best score would be declared as the winners and would also be awarded with
prices and gift vouches. Secondly, the best participants chosen from each university would compete in
the grand finale of the QUICKWITT. We anticipate positive response from the youth and plan to cover
around 50 colleges and universities from Lahore, Pakistan.

MARKET ANALYSIS
Prime objective of producing this show successfully is to stay fully aware of the marketing trends and
the regular information about the industry and its history. It is pivotal to understand and analyze the
industrial impact in the particular industry as the show is related to entertainment industry. Around 20
different game shows were analyzed to determine the fate of ours, as the above mentioned game
shows were similar in sketch. Two of popular programs were SPRITE FUNDA and LIVING ON THE
EDGE, these shows have successfully targeted the youth but they somewhat failed to capitalize the
market in the growth terms. We believe that our execution would go as planned and we can
successfully fill the vacuum in the industry.
TARGET MARKET:
QUICKWITT will be targeting the youth industry by focusing on colleges and universities in the
initial time periods. The age would fall between 16 and 28 years old. In our initial stage we would be
targeting the youth from Lahore, the data collected by our team suggests that we would have to shuffle
between 28,000 individuals. However, we would be setting up arrangements for 3 to 400 students as
audience from the participating institution. The target market of Lahore is flexible and elastic, as it
comprises the majority of youth population of the country.

Commodity Racism
I watched the first black mirror episode and then the episode 3 (episode 1 stood out the most). One of
the first things that stood out to right from the beginning was how they tried to make it a really future
type feel, these episodes were actually really hard for me to watch because of the fact that our world
could turn out to be like the episodes where no one knows the world out side of their phone. In the
first episode a few terms that stood out to me was commodity fetishism, Hyper real, and a major one
was satire.

distorting or exaggerating reality. pertaining to or creating a hyper reality. This was really big when
she started to look in the mirror and laugh different ways and she automatically got a response on how
people would rate her based on how her laugh and how she looked was. Another part was when her
son was on the couch playing a video game with the virtual reality headset which made the rest of the
world invisible. When his mother walked in and asked him a question he had no clue that she asked
him a question, this also relates to when they were getting tea and how everyone was on there phone
and not talking to other people they were living their world through their phone. This is probably the
most realistic term that relates the episodes to the real life today. With the invention of the virtual
reality headsets this is one thing I could see and already seeing become a reality. Another part where
you saw this in the episode was when she meet the people going to tranquility con, those people were
living in a world where they characters not living in the real world and this is something we already

Satire was one of the terms that I was the most in the videos. Satire means a humorous critique this
happened a lot in the episodes where people would rate someone and whether it be a good or bad
critique they would act like they are friends and put on a fake act to look happy. This tv show is what I

Analysis Of Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Great Gatsby
Nathaniel Hawthorne has written may pieces of literature that has made us dig deep inside his words
to extract different meanings. He is well known for being one of the fathers of the American short
story. He is considered a Dark Romantic whose perception is muddled by limits on human
consciousness; where truth is uncertain and it shadows our abilities (Moreland). He is of Puritan
descendent and therefore his writing portrays anxiety, guilt, self depression and sins being passed
down (Moreland). His writing demonstrates how he likes to go deep within an individual s
unconscious. One of his best short stories is Rappaccini s Daughter. There is so much to take in from
such a short story. He includes cultural contexts pertaining to the nineteenth century women s equality
as well as ethical choices which turn out to be unethical. Hawthorne is a Puritan and therefore his
literature demonstrates it s religion. For example, when Giovanni, the medical student, is observing
Doctor Rappaccini s garden. The first thing he notices is all the great vegetation. As he continues
observing, he sees Rappaccini is touching the plants with gloves and he is being very careful not to
inhale its fragrance. He wonders if this garden is the Eden of modern times in the following passage:
Nevertheless, in spite of the deep intelligence on his part, there was no approach to intimacy between
himself and these vegetable existences. On the contrary, he avoided their actual touch, or the direct

The Friar In The Canterbury Tales
The first characteristic of the Friar is his greed for monetary gain. Superficially it seems that he is a
man who begs for the poor, for his survival, hearing the confessions of sinners but it is obvious the
Friar is quite covetous and materialistic. He absolved sins freely when rewards are involved. If a man
paid coin to the Friar as penance he knew the man s repentance was sincere. This is an example of the
politics of the church in Chaucer s time when religion meant much to the people, which in turn meant
greedy men could act as paid saviors. Although a friar s job was to beg for the poor, the Friar used his
position as a beggar for his own personal gain. He also used his skill of talk and courteousness to

In fact, all of the previous examples highlight not only other characteristics but his insincerity and
falseness as well. It is described many times how the Friar kept company with people of means than
the sick, poor and beggars. He begged in the name of the poor but did not associate with those he
supposedly begged for. The guise under which the Friar lived and worked proved him to be a false
man. The insincerity of the Friar is exemplified in his tale as well. His tale is about a thieving and
lecherous summoner; this displays his distrust of the position of a summoner; most likely because the
role of a summoner impedes on his financial gain. This feeling of distrust was mutual between the
Friar and the Summoner, which is explained possibly by not only greedy clergy men but issues of too
many religious positions. Most importantly his tale shows the Friar as a hypocrite. After he finishes
his tale the Friar asks everyone listening to pray for the summoners of the world to repent their evils
but his words are not genuine or heartfelt. On the surface the Friar may seem like a semi trustworthy
man but his traits reveal hypocritical

Describe The Quality Of Myself
Every person has their own personality and have their own qualities, behaviour and thinking. When it
comes to me, I would describe myself as a hard working, calm, patient and a friendly person. I would
also describe myself as confident person when it comes to make choices and as a person who learns
from failure. I am a person who works hard and puts all the efforts into any work that I m working on.
I always try to give my best and if I fail in something, I learn from my mistakes and keep trying until I
reach my goal instead of giving up. I m also a very friendly person and can work with other people
around me with great ease. I get along with people very well even if I am meeting the person for the
first time. When it comes to making decisions for myself I can stand up for myself and make a
confident decision for myself. Sometimes it is very difficult to decide something but I don t remember
a time when I gave up because giving up is not my habit. Working in a team is one thing that every
profession has, either if its in a school, college, university or a professional career. Its very important
that every person in a team gets along with other people and motivate each other. If I were to consider
myself, I think that I have some good qualities that considers me as a good team member. One quality
of a group member is that helping others out that are present in the group. This quality can be found in

The Conscript Wilfrid Wilson Gibson Analysis
Wilfrid Wilson Gibson was a British Georgian poet and a lot of his work gets associated with World
War 1. The poet s work originally started out as magical story telling; then abandoned that style for a
more honest, realistic style to life. Not life for the upper class, but for the low level workingman. The
switch to talking about the life of the working class made his work more real; his war poems were told
through the view of the common soldier. His switch in his poetry theme was not pleasing to everyone
though. A conscript is compulsory enlistment for state services, specifically armed forces. The
Conscript is about how working class men, the conscripts, are being examined by doctors to see if
they are in the proper conditions to go to war or be sent home. The doctors do not care if the men die
instantly when they go to war. In The Conscript, Wilfrid Wilson Gibson develops the theme of the

Migration
Migration is a wide area of study to which a variety of issues arise from. Taylor Francis Online
defined migration as the movement of people from one place to another with the intent of settling in
the new location, either temporarily or permanently. There are different types of physical migration:
intercontinental (between countries), intracontinental (between countries on a given continent), and
interregional (within countries) (Taylor Francis Online, 2016). With the new development of
technology and the accessibility of travel in everyday life, the migration of people has become easier

It was not really considered to be a reason for migration before as labour was the most common

Asians and the number of partakers continue to rise. Using the section Marriage Migration to East
Asia: Current Issues and Propositions in Making Comparisons by Yen Fen Tseng, he said that
migration movements are frequently Southeast Asians going to North East Asian countries for the
reason that countries belonging in North East Asia are the more developed and wealthy. Asian women
are commonly involved in such marriage. Marriages with East Asian countries are sometimes fueled
by social anxiety. Intermarriages in East Asia are products of farmers or lower class men suffering
from inadequate amount of marriageable women in their areas. It is said in the book that there are
instances wherein mail order brides introduce their sisters, friends, or nieces to marry men who they
know, mostly men from their husband s country. Marriage migration became an option for Asian
women to consider since it was an easy way to go abroad and to work considering the fact that there
were limited ways to move out of the country. This study is helpful to the researcher in explaining and

testify. A case that comes from the 5th amendment is Miranda vs. Arizona , which took place in 1966
[the case from which the Miranda Rights were composed]. This case involved an $8.00 theft and a
twenty year prison sentence. Ernesto Miranda was arrested for theft and interrogated by police for two
hours when he confessed that he had kidnapped and raped a woman a few days earlier. Miranda was
not aware that he was allowed to have an attorney present during questioning nor that he had the right
to remain silent. He was convicted based off of his confession; therefore, he was sentenced to twenty
years in prison. Because he was not aware of this right, his lawyers appealed through the courts. The

Technology In Blade Runner
Technology can be broadly defined as the use of scientific knowledge for practical purposes mostly in
industry. Its application in various industries includes the information and media technology,
agriculture, education, construction and transport. Technology allows us to perform complicated tasks
in our daily lives and ensures efficiency in production. Technology has been advancing in astounding
ways in recent years especially due to progress achieved in computing and it can only grow even more
in the future. Although authors have different views on this broad topic, they are important as they
help paint a picture for society on how technology will evolve. Phillip K. Dick in his book Blade
Runner, technology is more advanced and humans have achieved abilities to create machines that
resemble men. According to (Dick, 24), Roy: Chew, if only you could see what I ve seen with your
eyes . This points us to the fact that Chew considers himself Roy s creator and that he even though he
did, he does not get to experience what Roy do. We can deduct from this quote that the author foresees
a future in which Artificial Intelligence will be highly developed and robots will be a norm and that
people will own their own robots. George Orwell gives us an insight into his view on the subject of
technology in his 1949 novel, Nineteen Eighty Four as an important tool of innovation and
development that can be manipulated to serve evil masters in facilitating a lot of evil on humanity. The

Political Bias
Everywhere we look and listen there is bias. News stations and news reporters claim that they are
unbiased by are they really? Brooke Gladstone s, The Influencing Machine deciphers the different
types of biases. News stations such as CNN report on politics and news related to politics. The New
York Times reports on breaking news stories such as 9/11 or Boston Bombings. The Today reports on
breaking news stories and stories for the family. Bias comes in all forms and shapes from the
newspaper we read in the morning to the news we watch at night. There will always be political bias,
whether it is election season or the middle of the politicians term. It is prior knowledge of many that
CNN favors the Liberals on the political spectrum. The editors of CNN are very politically biased and
often times showcase the positive side of the Liberals and the negative side of the Conservatives. In
the article, Liberals Win Big the writer, Zelizer, writes about a major victory for the Liberals. The
Supreme Court on June 26, 2015 sided with the Liberal advocates and ruled that states cannot ban
same sex marriage. This ruling of The Supreme Court was a huge accomplishment for the Liberals,
but a major loss to the Conservatives. This article showcases the positive side of ... Show more content

We can watch, listen to it, and read it. Nothing is unbiased. No news station or newspaper is unbiased.
Everything has bias whether it is subtle or not so subtle. I have bias for almost everything. I have bias
for stores, perfume, clothes, shoes, food, and even laundry detergent. I make decisions based on bias. I
choose to watch CNN because it has a Liberal bias. I read The New York Times because I share the
same opinions as the editors. I watch The Today Show because I value the opinions of the cast.
Without knowing it, bias is a huge component in how we live our lives. Bias plays a part in what we
watch, listen and even eat. The world is made of bias whether it is good or

Analysis of Keats Captivating and Dismal Ballad La Belle...
John Keats is a spell binding poet, who lived a short life of 25 years, but left behind a towering legacy
in the Romantic period. His work La Belle Dame Sans Merci is an imaginative masterpiece written in
1819, which was near his death in 1821. During the time he wrote the ballad, his brother died of
tuberculosis; an ailment that swept over many members of his family, including him. He also became
devoted to young woman, Fanny Brawne, but struggled with his continuous meager ownerships. The
time of darkness, disease, and depression were close reflected in the ballad, where love and death both
reign as did in his personal life. The central idea in the writing was risking everything for a pleasure
that can be intoxicating, and can aid in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The landscape makes a statement that frames the question and announces a world of depleted vitality,
no longer productive of any harvest (Wolfson 297). The tone is somber and sorrowful; achieved
through foreboding words, and strange mystical appearances. The ballad is structured like a dialogue
between a speaker who poses questions from observation, and a knight who provides murky answers.
The first speaker that glides in during the first three stanzas, appearing to be a stranger to this sudden
ailed knight at arms. This stranger becomes the provider of a description of another being, the knight,
whose condition is haggard, and loitering. The use of these words suggests at posterior events. The
etymology of haggard suggests a wild or intractable person, leading later in the poem to a wild eyed
woman (Murry 82).The interrogative voice of the stranger is arrested by a strange impression
reflecting the speaker s uncertainty of the strange sights at present (Almeida 295). This questioning
voice appears to be the only sign of energy in the surroundings. The question clearly remains why a
knight is stumbling in an autumn setting, appearing alone, and not on a quest? The knight is the other
speaker in the ballad, who answers to the stranger on his worn appearance and deathly complexion. It
s described that he has a lily on thy brow, a sign of death; along with being moist and fever dew, all
signs of sickness.

Drug Delivery And Its Effect On The Body
Drug delivery is the method of transporting a pharmaceutical compound to safely achieve its desired
therapeutic effect in the body by using approaches, formulations, technologies, and systems. Today
these technologies are nanobiomaterials and the use of nanobiomaterials are unprecedentedly
increasing in drug delivery thanks to their significant advances in the diagnosis and treatment of
disease. The major goals of using nanomaterials are to reduce toxicity, increase biocompatibility,
safety, and specific cell targeting. Otherwise, nanoparticle based vehicles in drug delivery is an
important technology because of their small sizes, easy penetration through cells, increasing cellular
uptake, and capacity to carry large amounts of drugs, thus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cisplatin (DDP) was taken as a drug and coated on the negatively charged fNDs clusters. The aim of
this study is to show abilities of fNDs in tumor cells such as drug accumulation and retention time,
tumor cell killing effect after clearance with comparing only drug. In this study, nanodiamonds were
synthesized by detonation techniques and polyanionic polysaccharide sodium alginate (ALG)
functionalized onto the positive charged NDs clusters via electrostatic interaction. Cis
diamminedichloro platinum (II) (Cisplatin, DDP), a potent antitumor drug was used and in this study,
it was encapsulated with negatively charged fNDs clusters via anionic complexation between fNDs
and DDP. The size and zeta potential of NDs, fNDs and fND DDP were measured by laser light
scattering. The structures of modified NDs and fND DDP were observed by transmission electron
microscopy (TEM). FND DDP, fNDs, and DDP was cultured separately into HepG2 liver carcinoma
cells and was observed by synchroton based micro X ray fluorescence (µXRF) techniques. Also it was
controlled to be cultured into other cancer cells such as cervical cancer HeLa cells and lung cancer
A549 cells. Effect of fNDs on DDP delivery and releases were investigated. By ICP OES (inductively
coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry), drug loading efficiency was estimated. For
cytotoxicity and biocompatibility analysis, cell viability was assessed on cancer cells by MTT [3 (4, 5

Haunting Of Hill House Book Report
For this summer reading I decided to read the Scary Novels. Which included Shirley Jackson s The
Haunting of Hill House, William Peter Blatty s The Exorcist, and Stephen King s The Shining. The
Haunting of Hill House is about an 80 year old mansion built by a man named Huge Crain. Dr.
Montague, a paranormal investigator, rents the house in hopes to experience the supernatural. He
invites four people, Eleanor Vance, Theodora and Luke Sanderson, based on their pasts. From there
they stay for the summer in hopes to explore the supernatural side. The Exorcist is about a young girl
Regan MacNeil, a daughter of a famous actress, that gets possessed. After the actress, Chris, tries
everything to help her daughter from the so called sickness, she calls in a priest. ... Show more content

The author also adds an eerie backstory as to why it would be haunted , which consisted of a suicide
by hanging. It confused me by the end because I didn t know if she was possessed or going crazy. I
leaned more towards the possessed side since the ghosts would write out her name in I assumed was
blood and everyone else could see it, which knocks out the idea that she was just imagining it; but she
also could have done that herself but the book didn t specify that. My least favorite character was Jack
Torrance from The Shining. I hated it when he broke Danny s arm and how he couldn t control his
temper. Although it wasn t exactly his fault that he went crazy and tired to also kill his family I feel
like it wouldn t have maybe happened in the first place. If he wasn t an alcoholic with anger issues he
wouldn t have been so heavily influenced by the ghosts into killing his family. One similarity all the
books share is the involvement of an evil force that greatly affects the people. Regan being possessed
by a demon, Eleanor being possessed by the ghosts in Hill House, and Jack being almost controlled by
the ghost of Delbert. A similarity between The Exorcist and The Shining is the use of a child having

Xbox One Vs Ps4 Research Paper
For the last couple of years all I have been using is the Xbox as the main console I use for gaming. I
have been very happy with my results, but I think that might change. Ps2 had a great run, but in my
opinion once the Xbox 360 came around I think it beat the Ps3. Now, that the Ps4 has come around it
has changed everything. This essay is about the Xbox one and the Ps4. At the end of this I will choose
which Is better and why. First we will talk the Ps4 which Is a gaming console made by Sony, a
Japanese company. Other than being a new console, it has also brought new features that It has never
had in the past. With the xbox 360 s controller being called the best controller ever made, Ps4 knew
they had to step it up. In this model Playstation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Speaking of online play, some games on the Ps4 do not need to go online to play, which good for the
times my wifi goes down or if I dont have wifi. I have a habit of burning through controller batteries
quick and i don t feel going out and buying a $30 rechargeable stands, but this is where Ps4 comes
into place. This console is more convenient because it is smaller that the Xbox one. The Ps4 already
come with a rechargeable cable which means that instead of waiting for my controller to get done
charging, i can play and charge it at the same time.
In conclusion the Ps4 comes out on top overpowering the Xbox one, although that could change.
Microsoft has unveiled that they are coming up with a new console called Project Scorpio that is
planning to beat the Ps4 by adding some of the Ps4 s features like vr(virtual reality) combined with
their own. I still have hope for, since i have been using the Xbox all my life, but we will have to wait
and see later this year to see what it has and for now, the Ps4 reigns

Native American Culture In The 18th And 19th Century
In the United States, there are over 500 federally recognized American and Native tribes. All which
study and practice their own set of cultures and values. Religion, language, food and way of dress are
what makes every tribe different in their own unique way. The Indian Wars of both the 18th and 19th
century caused many of these tribes to relocate thus causing them to not only lose their homelands but
also their cultural identity. Native Americans were prohibited from practicing religion and cultural
ceremonies. This caused a recession in youth obtaining the knowledge to keep their cultural
renaissance alive and pass on their tribal dialects to future generations. Today, however Native
Americans are thriving at branding their youth with generation after generation of language, religion,
ceremonial tradition etc. The Native American culture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hispanic Americans may not have been kicked off their homeland and prohibited to study and teach
religion but they too have had to fight for their freedom. The Natives fought for their land and the
mexicans fought for territory. Different yet same. Decades ago, in the hispanic culture, the females
were raised to tend to the children and the men. Young females were considered women at very young
ages and were expected to get married and bear children. The men would go out and work to put food
on the table. In the Native Culture, it was the same, however native men would go out and hunt while
the native women would stay behind and tend to the children and work. Their work not only consisted
of cooking and cleaning, it also consisted of a full day of weaving baskets, stretching leather, picking
corn and anything needed for survival. The native woman was strong with belief and spiritual healing,
while hispanic women were dominated by the man. Today, however things have changed for both
cultures. Women are expected to work as well as take care of the home and

Transculturation in Our Sister Killyjoy and Nervous Conditions
Postcolonial insights include theories of Diaspora, cultural hybridity and transculturation. The latter,
transculturation is the term used to define cultural change induced by introduction of elements of a
foreign culture. [1] The term transculturation was first coined by
Cuban anthropologist and sociologist Fernando Ortiz in 1947 to describe the phenomenon of merging
and converging cultures.
Transculturation covers war, ethnic conflict, racism and multiculturalism, hence it is a concept very
relevant to the postcolonial period and subsequently to postcolonial literature. When transculturation
affects ethnicity the term ethnoconvergence comes into being and ... Show more content on

The title Nervous Conditions comes from Jean Paul Satre s introduction to Franz Fanon s book about
the psychosocial effects of colonization The Wretched of the Earth where he says that the condition of
the native is a nervous condition.[2] Dangarembga clearly means to foreground gender as the category
which determines
African women s lives and keeps them natives in relation to the dominant and controlling power
structure. Nervous conditions could also be interpreted as a metaphor for those internalized definitions
of femaleness that shape, from within women s private and public lives. [3] The African women in the
novel face racism, sexism and oppression in their community while navigating their lives within the
margins of both traditional and Western colonial cultures. Tambu s early self admired her educated
aunt, pitied her mother who suffered from being female and poor and uneducated and black. [4] As
Dangarembga s plot shifts from Tambu s individual rise to collective effort with all her female
relatives and friends, she acknowledges If 1 forget them, my cousin, my mother, my friends, 1 might
as well forget myself. [5] In recording these women s resistance to the patriarchy, Dangarembga
suggests that the strongest, most resilient females are not the women educated and liberated in the
West and privileged within their

I Am African Born And Raised
I would love to think that your family background and where come from should not predict how you
communicate in life, but who you grew up with, who are your family and where you grew up
definitely has a lot of influence of how you are going to communicate later in life
There is no doubt that Africans and Middle Eastern people are one of the loudest human beings in the
world. They can make a casual conversation look like the beginning of world War Three. I am African
born and raised. I was brought into a big family with Lebanese, Egyptian, German, Chadian and
Sudanese heritage.
When I first moved to America, on our second day in San Antonio my parents went to HEB to gets
some groceries for the apartment. They were talking about what to get and they saw a passion fruit
something we don t have back home. One of the associate won t stop staring at my parent, because
how loud they were, you can literally hear them from accross the store and the HEB on I 10 is pretty
big. In my family, we talk with our hand all over the place so it looked like my dad was about to put
his hand on my mom, which he would never do. but when people started gathering around us and the
cop saw what he was doing, they came towards my dad and arrested my dad. My Father was so
confused on what was going, couldn t understand why they put him in cuffs. We had to call our
caseworker to explain that he is not at all abusive and he is no threat to my family or mother and this
was all a

  • 4. An Excerpt From The Story Of Anne Frank Screeech! The sound of a car from below freezes all eight people living in a hidden annex, as they look to each other for comfort. The best theme from the story of Anne Frank is that everyone needs someone with whom to share life s experiences, although others may believe that a better theme is that people need a sense of direction in their lives. Everybody needs someone to lean on, and no one can get through the trials of life alone. The first piece of evidence to support the theme everyone needs someone with whom to share life s experiences can be found on page 488 in the Anne Frank play. Mr. Frank has just returned from his time in concentration camp during the war and he is talking to his friend Miep Gies. His entire family was killed during the second world war. So now Miep is one of the only close companions he knows. He returned to the secret hidden annex where he and seven others, including his family hid during the war to escape punishments in concentration camps. Peter said that he d rather do something on a farm that doesn t take a lot of thought. This supports the theme of everyone needs someone with whom to share life s experiences. In history prejudice has escalated quickly into wars, most notable of such would be, world war II (Hitler s concentration camps) and the American Civil war (battle for slave freedom in the U.S.) Anybody is capable of being prejudice, the battle of prejudice has been around as long as we have documentation for. Prejudice is even found in the Bible, when the Hebrews were being held as slaves in Egypt and Moses came in leading them to the promise land of Jerusalem. • 6. Harold And Maude, A Film Released In 1971 And Directed Harold and Maude, a film released in 1971 and directed by Hal Ashby is a provocative and relevant anti establishment film against today s society s traditional definition of love and marriage. The definition being that the older man and the younger woman is acceptable to us simply because a marriage is about propagating children. Through the relationship of Harold, a twenty year old man, and Maude, an eighty year old woman, Ashby presents us with the ultimate love story, one which is not set within the acceptable limitations of conventionality, yet it teaches us that love can be simple, genuine, and unselfish. Throughout the film we get to experience alongside Harold his blossoming into his true self, most of which can be attributed to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Ph.D. psychologist Nando Pelusi, The desire for certainty and genetic possession of a partner is an ancient commandment, based on maintaining one s status and honor. Deferring from today s society that has a twisted idea of love, in which it is demonstrated through a mixture of control and jealousy, Maude s love for Harold is genuine and event innocent in a way due to its lack of possessiveness. This is clearly shown in the phrase that Maude said to him on her deathbed, Oh! That s wonderful, Harold. Go and love some more. (Harold and Maude) With just two single phrases she s able to express that she loves him so deeply that what she truly wants is for him to be happy, even if it won t necessarily be with her. For the characters love to be truly ultimate they need to have some limitations; in this case the core and foremost limitation being the institution of marriage, since Harold and Maude think differently when desisting to this establishment. Even when authority figures in Harold s life abundantly criticize their relationship and demean Maude s body into an old and withered corpse; Harold is still willing to give in to the establishment of marriage his mother was presenting him with. He was of course relinquishing in his own way, yet the fact that he was complying with it was a limitation, since unlike Harold, Maude never conceded into that establishment. At the end of the film Harold was planning to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Persuasive Essay On Truck Drivers Truck drivers are essential to this country s economy. Truck driving is one of the only ways that this country has found to transport most of the goods we produce. There are many flaws in the other ways we transport goods. As the demand for supply goes up the demand for truck drivers will go up as well. Driving a tractor trailer or a semi trailer is a great career because of the job outlook, the work environment, and the benefits and compensation. Driving a truck can be a great way to make a living without a college degree. Truck driving is one to the most rapid growing occupations. The Commercial Vehicle Training Association states that, The truck driver occupation is listed as an occupation with the most growth by the Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics. (Commercial Vehicle Training Association) This is very good for people who are trying to get into this occupation. This means that anyone that passes all the requirements is basically guaranteed a job. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration says, The Administration operates a program to improve safety performance and remove high risk carriers from the Nation s highways. (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) Programs like this exist to help make the roads as safe as possible for everyone. Without these programs there would be hundreds of careless and unsafe drivers on the road. In closing, many programs have been setup to keep all other drivers and the company s materials safe. Truck driving is very demanding because of the long periods spent away from home and the constant driving for a long time. Also some drivers have to load and unload their cargo. • 8. Analysis Of Tim Burton s The Brilliant Joker Essay It is easy to empathize with Jack Nicholson s brilliant Joker as he laments in Tim Burton s classic 1989 film, Batman, Where does he get those wonderful toys? The average person may not be villainously inclined, but one can certainly relate to having their best laid plans constantly being thwarted. Though, to be fair, probably very few people would take issue with someone as awesome as the Batman getting in their way. Despite being a mere mortal, Batman and his fellow graphic novel heroes serve as present day gods akin to the ancient Greek gods of Rome. There are a great many things that set Batman apart from his colleagues, however; chief among them are his tragic origin story, the best villains in modern literature, his total lack of superpowers, wealth, and endless interpretations. Everyone loves a good origin story. Superman s parents are killed in the explosion of their home planet, Krypton, and spare him from the same fate by shipping him off to earth on a spacecraft. Spider Man, who was already living with his aunt and uncle because his parents died while he was still a child, witnesses his beloved uncle Ben die in front of his eyes at the hands of a thief. Yet Batman s origin tale easily surpasses both in terms of flair for the dramatic. As a child, young Bruce Wayne is walking with his parents, Thomas and Martha, through an alley after having left a screening of the Mark of Zorro. Gunmen seeking to steal Martha s exposed pearls approach the family. An altercation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Effects Of Regime Type On The Duration Of War And War On... Amy Ly International Policy Seminar Professor Danielson 10 March 2016 [Title] Introduction What is the effect of regime type on the duration of war and war s impact on political leaders? And how do these effects range in comparison to other variables, such as wealth, military power, or alliances? I hypothesize the following: longer wars have a worse impact on democracies than on dictatorships and mixed regimes, and as a result are shorter. In the first section of this paper, I define key terms used throughout the paper and review literature and theory related to the topic of war and regime type. In the next section, I Background and Literature Review Using [cite] s definition of regime type, I have identified three types of regimes in this paper: democracies, dictatorships, and mixed regimes. Democracies are defined as regimes that do not repress its people and include the highest proportion of the populace; dictatorships are highly repressive and exclude most of the population; and mixed regimes use moderate repression and exclude a significant proportion of their populace (CITE). To understand the reasoning behind my hypothesis, I turn to the democratic and inter democratic peace theories, in which my hypothesis is fundamentally rooted. These theories come from the liberal school of thought in international relations and posit that democracies do not, or are less likely, to go to war, and do not go to war with other democracies (Elman 758). There is much scholarly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

No other period depends on these ideas more than the Middle Ages time of Europe. The European civilizations were based on the nature of feudalism. Feudalism worked if everyone in the society did their duty and gave loyalty to everyone above on the social latter. The knight was the main support of the feudal society. He was the protector of the heavenly Lord, their lady and the earthly lord. The roles and duties of the knight are quotes as, the most noble knight under Christ, And the loveliest lades that lived on earth ever, and he the comeliest king, that the court holds. Pre 1914 Love Poetry from the Victorian and Elizabethan Era Conventional females were considered to be second class citizens who were expected to refrain in conveying their natural feelings and emotions. Women were also socially neglected, as they were expected to remain at home whilst their respective husbands ensured the upkeep of the family by managing the family finances. The male population at this point in time ignorantly viewed women as coy, innocent characters, seemingly unaware that women had the same feelings and emotions as themselves. The dramatic monologue begins with an insight into the Duke s interest in the collection of fine artwork. In the same way, we can establish that the Duke also enjoys the collection of women, in the way that he introduces his next piece of art. That s my last Duchess... Line 1 The Duke seems to be a man who expects his wife to be the conventional female, and abide by the strict gender roles that existed at this period in history. He repeatedly downgrades his wife, and makes out that she doesn t appreciate the high social rank which she has married into. He even goes as far as indicating that his wife has been unfaithful all an attempt to really try and justify his reasons as to why he gave commands . [She] had a heart how shall we say? too soon made glad. Line 23 In this quote, Browning tells us that his last duchess was easily pleased by compliments that she received from other people. We sense that she also voices her gratitude for these compliments, and in this way, the Duke has become disillusioned and because of this, he downgrades his wife for basically being a nice person. In another pretty feeble attempt to justify his actions, he tries to make his wife out as a disrespectful person. He tells how every single gift that she received from various people would draw from her alike the approving speech . From here, the Duke

  • 13. Saving Lives in Traveling through the Dark by William... Saving Lives The most wonderful thing in the world is being able to save the life of another. Some people have this chance and some people do not. The people that have not had the chance might have never been in a situation to save a person s or thing s life. Some people might have been in a situation to have saved someone or something and not chosen to act on it. The situation can be unnoticeable and you would have to think about it and observe the details. The poem Traveling through the Dark by William Stafford is about making the right decisions and saving lives. In this poem, the speaker will tell us the story of how he made the correct decision and saved the life of many people. Traveling through the dark I found a deer ... The speaker decided to drag the doe into the river so no one would swerve to miss the deer and become injured. She was large in the belly. My fingers touching her side brought me the reason her side was warm; her fawn lay there waiting, alive, never to be born. Beside that mountain road I hesitated (Stafford 8 12). Once the speaker touched the belly of the doe he realized that she was pregnant. The side of the doe was still warm so that meant her fawn was still alive. The speaker then had to think about throwing the doe into the river, because he did not want to kill her fawn. I thought hard for us all my only swerving , then pushed her over the edge into the river (Strafford 17 18). The speaker tried to think of another way to keep the deer out of the road and save her fawn but he could not figure out a better way for everyone. As the thoughts ran through his mind, he pushed the doe into the river. The speaker decided to sacrifice the doe s fawn in order to save more peoples lives. The speaker of the poem is a man traveling down the road at night. The speaker is not just speaking to a certain group; he is speaking to all mankind. • 14. Implementing A Comprehensive Audit Plan Essay Abstract This paper will discuss the hot topics in emerging issues that was discussed in previous assignments. Several companies can benefit from finding ways to implement a comprehensive audit plan to reduce the likelihood of fraud occurring. Ideas associated with the SDLC and how to create phases that will fall in line with this execution are also detailed in this assignment. The SDLC assists in reducing fraud and cannot be applied lightly; this plan makes the process of fraud prevention and detection easier to succumb. They consider each other their enemies and do whatever it takes to be better than one another. When the enemies need help for same problem, they unite themselves to solve the problem. The short story The Interlopers by Saki is about unification and reveals how enemies become allies in harsh situations. Ulrich von Gradwitz and Georg Znaeym were enemies because Ulrich was the owner of the forest land, and Georg was trying to steal Ulrich s forest land. They met in the middle of the forest and tried to kill each other. However, they were trapped by the huge tree that fell from a fiery storm. Waiting for their men to rescue them, Ulrich offered Georg a wine. Ulrich von Gradwitz told Georg Znaeym that if Ulrich s men come faster than Georg s men then Ulrich will tell the men to rescue George first, and that they have better things to do than getting the better of a boundary dispute (Saki 86). The quote shows that Ulrich wanted to be friends with Georg rather than fighting over who gets the forest land. Ulrich asked George to be his friend, and George accepted his request. Waiting for their men to come and help them, both wished that their private men would come first so they can be the first to show honorable attention to the other (Saki 87). Additionally, it is imperative to formulate the strategy regarding exactly where the company is going with their products and services. Last, but not least, once all the planning has been completed, executives must oversee its implementation to successfully live up to the mission statement. Key components of successful implementation include clear, concise, and relevant communication, focus, and perseverance. One of the ways to ensure effective implementation is ongoing evaluation. • 18. Transformation In Jane Eyre Jane Eyre written by Charlotte Brontё, is about a young woman s life in the late 1700 s. In the novel, the reader learns of Jane Eyre s life as an orphan, student, governess, and wife. As a young woman in the late 1700 s, Jane experiences an immense amount of pressure and oppression from those superior to her; almost everyone was superior to her. From childhood to adulthood, the readers witness the transformation of Jane s confidence, opinions, and experiences. Jane Eyre is considered a Bildungsroman novel because of these age progressions and transformations in the story. When Jane was a child, she lived with her Aunt and cousins, John, Georgiana, and Eliza in their home called Gateshead. Jane s parents had died and she supposedly had no other family, so her uncle insisted on taking her, but shortly died after and Jane was left in the care of Mrs. Reed, her aunt. Throughout her time there, Jane became the target of physical and verbal abuse, especially from her Aunt and John. Jane remained obedient and quiet with little protest because it would only bring her more trouble to be rowdy. She was considered a burden, and was oppressed through everything she did. After being attacked by John, Mrs. Reed punished Jane instead of him; she got locked away in a room where her uncle died and eventually fainted from anxiety and panic. Ever since that experience, Jane acted more rebellious and outspoken to Mrs. Reed and even lashed out at her, speaking about every terrible thing Mrs. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the beginning of Prodigy, the main characters, June and Day, are in a military city, las vegas. They felt scared, cautious and very aware. But why would normal people feel scared in las Vegas? Well, setting may have a role in this. June and Day are the most wanted criminals of the country, so they have to be careful not to draw attention to themselves. So, they felt intimidated by the offers patrolling the streets and the risk of getting caught. The text states, Troops make their way up and down the street... At first, eleven of the twelve jurors vote guilty. Over time, through heated discussions, the jurors are swayed to the decision of not guilty(Rosen, 2016). He is well known for being one of the fathers of the American short story. He is considered a Dark Romantic whose perception is muddled by limits on human consciousness; where truth is uncertain and it shadows our abilities (Moreland). He is of Puritan descendent and therefore his writing portrays anxiety, guilt, self depression and sins being passed down (Moreland). His writing demonstrates how he likes to go deep within an individual s unconscious. One of his best short stories is Rappaccini s Daughter. There is so much to take in from such a short story. He includes cultural contexts pertaining to the nineteenth century women s equality as well as ethical choices which turn out to be unethical. Hawthorne is a Puritan and therefore his literature demonstrates it s religion. For example, when Giovanni, the medical student, is observing Doctor Rappaccini s garden. The first thing he notices is all the great vegetation. As he continues observing, he sees Rappaccini is touching the plants with gloves and he is being very careful not to inhale its fragrance. Superficially it seems that he is a man who begs for the poor, for his survival, hearing the confessions of sinners but it is obvious the Friar is quite covetous and materialistic. He absolved sins freely when rewards are involved. If a man paid coin to the Friar as penance he knew the man s repentance was sincere. This is an example of the politics of the church in Chaucer s time when religion meant much to the people, which in turn meant greedy men could act as paid saviors. The insincerity of the Friar is exemplified in his tale as well. His tale is about a thieving and lecherous summoner; this displays his distrust of the position of a summoner; most likely because the role of a summoner impedes on his financial gain. This feeling of distrust was mutual between the Friar and the Summoner, which is explained possibly by not only greedy clergy men but issues of too many religious positions. • 37. The Conscript Wilfrid Wilson Gibson Analysis Wilfrid Wilson Gibson was a British Georgian poet and a lot of his work gets associated with World War 1. The poet s work originally started out as magical story telling; then abandoned that style for a more honest, realistic style to life. Not life for the upper class, but for the low level workingman. The switch to talking about the life of the working class made his work more real; his war poems were told through the view of the common soldier. His switch in his poetry theme was not pleasing to everyone though. A conscript is compulsory enlistment for state services, specifically armed forces. The Conscript is about how working class men, the conscripts, are being examined by doctors to see if they are in the proper conditions to go to war or be sent home. The doctors do not care if the men die instantly when they go to war. In The Conscript, Wilfrid Wilson Gibson develops the theme of the predestined death for the common man. The poet does this by ... Using the section Marriage Migration to East Asia: Current Issues and Propositions in Making Comparisons by Yen Fen Tseng, he said that migration movements are frequently Southeast Asians going to North East Asian countries for the reason that countries belonging in North East Asia are the more developed and wealthy. Asian women are commonly involved in such marriage. Marriages with East Asian countries are sometimes fueled by social anxiety. Intermarriages in East Asia are products of farmers or lower class men suffering from inadequate amount of marriageable women in their areas. It is said in the book that there are instances wherein mail order brides introduce their sisters, friends, or nieces to marry men who they know, mostly men from their husband s country. Marriage migration became an option for Asian women to consider since it was an easy way to go abroad and to work considering the fact that there were limited ways to move out of the country. If there were no Fifth Amendment, there would be self incriminating clause issues, such as: every time you are charged with a crime, you would be interrogated with no right remain silent; whenever law enforcement desires to subpoena your personal records, you would have no right to assert a claim against self incrimination; a refusal to testify on the grounds of self incrimination could be punished as a crime; confessions obtained through custodial interrogation would, in many circumstances, become admissible [there would be little, if any, deterrent to harsh interrogation techniques]; prosecutors could ask juries to draw an inference of guilt from a defendant s failure to testify. A case that comes from the 5th amendment is Miranda vs. Arizona , which took place in 1966 [the case from which the Miranda Rights were composed]. This case involved an $8.00 theft and a twenty year prison sentence. Ernesto Miranda was arrested for theft and interrogated by police for two hours when he confessed that he had kidnapped and raped a woman a few days earlier. Miranda was not aware that he was allowed to have an attorney present during questioning nor that he had the right to remain silent. The first speaker that glides in during the first three stanzas, appearing to be a stranger to this sudden ailed knight at arms. This stranger becomes the provider of a description of another being, the knight, whose condition is haggard, and loitering. The use of these words suggests at posterior events. The etymology of haggard suggests a wild or intractable person, leading later in the poem to a wild eyed woman (Murry 82).The interrogative voice of the stranger is arrested by a strange impression reflecting the speaker s uncertainty of the strange sights at present (Almeida 295). This questioning voice appears to be the only sign of energy in the surroundings. The question clearly remains why a knight is stumbling in an autumn setting, appearing alone, and not on a quest?
