Gene Flow In Full Genotypes
Gene flow is the process by which individuals (full genotype), and/or the genetic material they carry
(certain alleles of genes), move from one population to another and is an important source of genetic
variation, because it brings new alleles in the population. Gene flow can be subdivided in three
categories: (1) Migration: the movement of full genotypes (individuals) from one population to
another within the same species, which may be further integrated later by breeding, (2) Introgression:
the movement of genes from one species or strain to another through a process of successful mating
(hybridization) and backcrossing, (3) Horizontal (or lateral) gene transfer: the movement of genes
from one species or strain to another without successful

Something s Got Ta Give By Diane Keaton
In society age is a key aspect in the way people view others and how they communicate, a person s
age sets a tone for the language they use in communication with different groups be it their peers,
elders, or the young. Three aspects of age in society are communication, ability, and socially
constructed stigmas. Many of such aspects are portrayed in the movie Something s Gotta Give , where
a swinger on the cusp of being a senior citizen with a taste for young women falls in love with an
accomplished woman closer to his age. Harry, the soon to be senior citizen is played by Jack Nicholas
and Erica, played by Diane Keaton is an accomplished writer and the mother of Harry s young
companion. The movie makes you stop and think; what does age mean in the dating world today. In
the world of dating many people ask, does age matter? The answer is yes and no; as many different
components come into play. In the movie Somethings Gotta Give , Harry dates a younger woman and
when he meets her mom she doesn t seem to mind that her boyfriend is much older than her. An older
male and younger woman is accepted in society, whereas an older woman dating a younger man
becomes labeled as a cougar . A man who dates a younger woman receives no such title, this is
socially constructed by the white male dominant group, as to say it is ok for a man to do it, but when a
woman does it, she s a cougar . A man dating a young woman has been around for centuries and
coming from a dominant group the

The Excerpts From The Overspent American I Was Not...
Before reading the excerpts from The Overspent American I was not familiar with Juliet Schor s work.
While reading however, I saw that her views were different from many of the other authors that we
have read so far. When I had finished the reading I found the reading enjoyable and fascinating. The
reason that her writing intrigued me was because of her multiple perspectives while writing. Not only
does she concentrate on the economics of American people, but she also uses a sociologist lens to
show the purchasing habits of our culture. The Overspent American focuses on how we as a society
have changed our spending patterns from the past. During the 1950s the phrase keeping up with the
Jones was coined and it represented Americans trying to outspend their neighbors and friends. For
example, my friend buys a boat and I also need to buy a boat to make sure my friends saw me as being
wealthy. Today our society as changed in many ways but Schor finds that our spending habits have
altered the most since the 1950s. By analyzing and evaluating her work, one can see how Americans
spending habits have changed over time and how our economics have been overtaken by television
and broadcast media. As mentioned earlier, during the 1950s people were more likely to compare
themselves to their neighbors and community. There was limited forms of media that everyone saw on
a mass scale so most class groups would read or watch the same movies, books, etc. People would
look out their

Penelope In The Odyssey Essay
The Strong Character of Penelope in Homer s Odyssey
Homer s Odyssey is a story of the homecoming of Odysseus after the Trojan War. Odysseus left his
wife, Penelope, and their young son, Telemachos, almost twenty years before the telling of this story
to fight in the Trojan War. His absence places Penelope in a rather precarious position. Faced with
many different circumstances, both good and bad, Penelope is on her own to decide the path she
wishes to take. Depending on her decisions, the situations could either be filled with wonderful
opportunities or perilous dangers. The strong character of Penelope is revealed by her decisions.
While Odysseus is away from home, Penelope finds herself playing the role of dutiful wife ... Show

For my mother, against her will, is beset by suitors... (Odyssey 2.50). Assuming that Odysseus had
died in the course of the war, they wish to marry her, although no news has yet been delivered as to
Odysseus true fate. Meanwhile, the suitors are eating all her food, killing off all her livestock, and
generally using up all the resources of the household (Odyssey 1.248 251). Elders of the town suggest
Penelope forget her pride and go home to her father and for him to arrange a new wedding for her. Let
him urge his mother to go back to her father s, / and they shall appoint the marriage and arrange for
the wedding presents... (Odyssey 2.195 196) Thus, the suitors pose multiple dangers for Penelope. If
the suitors ruin all the household s resources, or if one were to successfully persuade her to marry him,
she would lose her power position. Likewise, if the resources run out and she is forced to move back
in with her father, she would lose both her power position and her autonomy.
Along with the suitors, Penelope also faces possible dangers from her own son. Even though
Telemachos is not in support of sending Penelope back to her father, he does not fail to underestimate
and otherwise disregard her. Following with the typical Greek mindset, Telemachos views women as
inherently inferior to men. This view includes how he sees his mother. He automatically assumes that
she cannot run a

The Yellow Wallpaper from the Point of View of a Doctor s...
The Yellow Wallpaper from the Point of View of a Doctor s Wife The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte
Perkins Gilman, is a story told from the first person point of view of a doctor s wife who has nervous
condition. The first person standpoint gives the reader access only to the woman s thoughts, and thus,
is limited. The limited viewpoint of this story helps the reader to experience a feeling of isolation, just
as the wife feels throughout the story. The point of view is also limited in that the story takes places in
the present, and as a result the wife has no benefit of hindsight, and is never able to actually see that
the men in her life are part of the reason she never gets well. This paper will discuss how Gilman s

No matter what a woman did or thought, she was still seen as the lesser of the sexes. Like the narrator,
women of that time were directed to suppress their creativity as it threatened the dominating male s
sense of control. By having the narrator be forced to write in secret, There comes John, and I must put
this away he hates to have me write a word, Gilman was able to show that even the simplest things,
like wanting to write were forbidden, lest the male approved (392). Prohibited from working and not
being able to contribute to the household as a proper wife, the narrator begins to feel helpless: So I...
am absolutely forbidden to work until I am well again. Personally, I disagree with their ideas (390).
The narrator s husband and brother both exert their own will over hers, forcing her to do what they
think is the appropriate behavior for a sick woman. She has been given a schedule[d] prescription for
each hour in the day; [John] takes all care from me (391). The way that she is required to act involves
practically no exertion of her own free will. Instead, she is expected to obediently accept the fact that
her own ideas are mere fancy, and only the opinions of the men in her life can be trusted. The fact that
she is not allowed to think for herself is narrowing the extent of her authority in her life and of her
autonomy. With no creative outlet her mind starts to find things upon which to dwell, things that only
she can see. Virtually imprisoned in

Importance of High Frequency Trading
Introduction
What is HFT?
While there is no definite answer to what high frequency might be, it has been generally accepted that
they are the type of trades automated by machines using proprietary algorithms and trade at very high
speeds, often executing at least a few trades in under a second. HFT strategies can be broadly
categorized into 4 groups:
Liquidity Providence: Rebate Trading, Automated Market Trading.
Pricing Inefficiency Arbitrage: Scalping, Latency Arbitrage, Statistical Arbitrage
Predatory Trading: Latency Arbitrage Flash Orders, Quote Stuffing
Directional Trading: News trading, Liquidity Detection, Momentum Trading: One prominent strategy

This example is most glaring during market crashes because HFTs would permanently cancel their
orders and liquidity unexpectedly dries up when it is most needed in the market. For example, many
HFTs withdrew from the market during the 2010 flash crash and some even became liquid demanders
(A Blessing or A Curse? The Impact of HFT on Institutional Investors). As such, during crises, HFTs
could cause market dislocation to occur as they pull out from the markets and funds will not be able to
offload positions as macro news events build up, causing some to suffer huge losses.
(http://www.forbes.com/sites/richardfinger/2013/09/30/high frequency trading is it a dark force
against ordinary human traders and investors/).
Also, there are few HFT type market making presence in securities that have a relatively high bid
spread. This is because for HFTs to make the markets in less liquid counters, it requires them to hold
long term unwanted positions in the security thus making the cost of market making high. As such,
long term investors would still be sustaining a high bid spread ratio when trading in less liquid
markets.
Avoiding HFT
In regards to liquidity detection by HFTs, funds have also begun to not trade in large open markets
when they know it s difficult to hide large positions, preferably instead in using dark pools an off
exchange platform operated by brokers. But this method would cause funds not to have the best bid

My Observation At The Mall Center Mall
For my observation, I decided to go the Town Center Mall in Boca Raton, Florida to observe the
advertisements that are present in our community. I went to the mall to conduct research because I
need to make a purchase for a vacation, so I thought this was the perfect place to go. Each store I
walked into, there were advertisements for instant savings, but the further I walked into any store, the
prices climbed higher. Truthfully, I was shocked by the amount of people who did not care that they
were being bamboozled. Initially, we were told at the front of the store that there were discounts, but
we had to find out on our own that the prices raised exponentially. This was the exact reason why I

Cliff Freeman said that people would kill anything that they thought of before they had the chance
because they got nervous. Lee Clow goes on to say that those business professionals have no
creativity, trust, or bravery when letting them, the advertisers, develop an idea. These people have
conquered the skill of persuasion and have mastered how to make the audience feel a connection to
their brand. Their creativity and knowledge helped me better my understanding of the advertising
world.
Library Research At first, I had no idea where to start my research. I would go on Google and try to
learn anything that I can that related to advertising. But that was too broad to start my research
because that really did not give me enough information. I had to change my approach to researching
because typing in advertising on Google was not going to do me any justice. But I after reading about
suggestions on where to start researching, I went on Youtube and watched a couple of TedTalks about
advertising.
I found a TedTalk by Jean Kilbourne titled The Dangerous Ways Ads See Women. I thought this
would be a perfect foundation towards answering my question. Although this is a popular source,
Kilbourne discussed about women body image issues in the United States and how there is a
psychological effect that impacts the way that women present themselves. This video helped me get an

The theory of multiple intelligences which has been a significant and remarkable contribution for
many educators and researchers that were studying the reasons and element necessaries to the teaching
of specific intelligences was elaborated by Howard Gardner a Harvard Psychologist using many
science concepts to explain human intellect.
In this theory of Multiples intelligences at the beginning he proposed that there were seven main
identified fields in which everybody have special abilities that he describes as intelligences.
With the Gardner definition of multiples intelligence as a mix of abilities that can be broadened and
developed throughout the course of an individual life. He created the bases for a new education model.
With this conception that it is actually implemented in many school around the world his followers
can see and assure most of the background ideas of his theory.
Gardner study at Harvard University was to address the work of Alfred Binet about The IQ or
Intelligence quotient that it s supposed to measure the intelligence. This test is the base too of another
well known test used now a days in a lot of schools, the famous SAT or Scholastic Aptitude Test

To be, or not to be; that is the question. You ve probably heard this quote several times throughout

on April 23rd, 1616 in his hometown. His death still remains a mystery to this day. His legacy is one
that will forever leave an impact on our world, as he left behind 38 plays, 154 sonnets, and two
narrative poems that are taught in schools everywhere today. Shakespeare is recognized as one of the

Implicit Bias Analysis
Implicit Biases in Reader Response
Reading Jane Austen has never appealed to me. The combination of dated prose, a general aversion to
plots I deemed to be too romantic , and my viewing of the film adaptations were enough to keep me
away from her novels. When I was asked to read Persuasion for a class, I was hesitant and unwilling
to fully engage with the material. This prevented me from enjoying the book fully. I didn t quite know
what was holding me back from enjoying the book, but I knew that it was something more than my
explicit biases against Austen. After a little reflection, I realized that my implicit biases were shaping
my reading of Austen. My implicit bias against a novel and author that I perceived as overly feminine
was coloring how I was interacting with and what messages I was taking from Persuasion (Austen).
Implicit biases are the unconscious attitudes that shape our thoughts, actions, and beliefs (Banaji and
Greenwald 46; Staats et al. 10; Schneider 169).Their impact is important to study because implicit
biases shape our responses to situations. Reader response theory examines how a reader responds to a
given text. Theorists such as Jauss and Eco include concepts that implicit bias can and should be built
into. Jauss horizons examine how our experiences, expectations, culture, and place in time shape how
we react and create meaning. Though implicit bias is not noted in Jauss formulation of the horizon, it
should be considered as it shapes our

Many years ago during biblical times the Philistine lined up to fight Israel. A man standing over nine
feet tall dressed in full armor came out of his camp every day to find a challenger. For forty days there
was no one willing to challenge Goliath until David volunteered. David was a young teenager who
wasn t even a part of the war, but was delivering stuff to his brothers, so it took some convincing to
the king to let him be the challenger. In 1 Samuel 17 more of the story is told. 45 David said to the

boring causing my mind to wander elsewhere. After Heckler finished, eventually it was time for

Salva was a Sudanese refugee who walked thousands of miles to reach safety from the civil war in

Unfair Promotion In Sports Media Essay
Unfair Promotion of Males in Sports Media
Brittany Lynch
La Sierra University Unfair Promotion of Males in Sports Media
The media has always promoted male athletes in sports more than female athletes. Whether it be
social, commercial, movie, or television media, you will always expect to see the male athlete as the
main hero. As we run through the history of sports and media we can find that the men took up the
majority of the spotlight. When women do finally enter the sporting world they find the transition is
hard and media proves it. Looking at sports today the media still portrays female athletes as less up to
par than the male athletes. We hope for a positive change in the future, one that involves equality in
the sports media world.

Lab Experiment On The Effect Of Temperature On Enzymes
Title: Effects of Temperature on Enzymes
Problem/Purpose: How does temperature affect the rate of enzyme activity on its substrate?
Hypothesis: If the temperature increases, then rate of the chemical reaction will increase as well, and
if the temperature decreases, then the rate of reaction will also decrease.
Data:
There were three test tubes in which the experiment was held. A relatively equal sized portion of raw
potato (this contained the enzyme [a biological catalyst] hydrogen peroxidase) was placed in each
tube. Then, enough water to cover the potato was added. Proceeding this, each of the test tubes were
assigned a temperature; cold, room temperature or warm (this was written on the tag so that they were
not confused). The test tube destinated cold was placed in a ice bath for five minutes. At the same
time, the hot test tube was placed in a hot water bath for five minutes. Meanwhile, the room
temperature test tube sat at room temperature for five minutes. When the five minutes were over, the
test tubes were returned to the rack (so that they were able to be observed). Then, the test tubes were
allowed to sit at room temperature for five more minutes. Once that period of time was over, 2 ml of
hydrogen peroxide (the substrate) was added to each tube.
Once this step was completed, a timer was started and observations were made. Using the timer, how
long cellular respiration (this was noted by the appearance of gas in the tube) took to start was noted.

Comparing The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator And Eysenck...
Personality is a complex area of Psychology, which has been studied for many years, by many experts
in the field. Each having their own ideas about how to understand, study and evaluate it. Here I will
introduce personality briefly, looking at the theories behind it. Then explain the need for testing. As
there are many test that are available to use, for the purpose of this essay I will look at The Myers
Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ) and discuss the
reliability and validity of some studies around these tests. Funder (2007), states that personality is a
combination of how people think, feel and behave, with the psychological mechanisms behind those
patterns. Therefore, it can be defined as consistent behaviour patterns and processes which happen in
the mind of the individual. These behaviour patterns suggest that there are individual differences and
that personality is consistent. The combination of these areas, and confliction of these is what
psychologist s try to understand. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

will be the psychoanalytic approach, the trait approach, the biological approach the humanistic

The Role Of Unrequited Love In The Arthurian Legend
Love is like a lit candle, it needs both the string and heat to work as partners in unison for its fire to
stay alive. The fire symbolizes both the love between two people, as well as their lives. The heat and
the string are ingredients for the ignition and continuation of the urgent scorch of fire as it is brought
at the hilt of the candle for heat to ponder through the air. However, if one side can t provide the string
or heat than their will be no fire, and no other ingredients for the other to work hand in hand with.
Love can foreshadow the beauty between two people, however, more specifically, it can foreshadow
the most tragic events. One could make the argument that the theme for the Arthurian legend is love.
However, in many of these examples one can find, love is mainly one sided. More specifically, only

Unrequited love kills those in the Arthurian legend because the continuous pain amongst them crushes
their hearts, It is like taking on the full force of a fast moving locomotive. Unrequited love leads to the
tragic death of the characters in many cases: it indirectly happens between Guinevere and Arthur;
Lady of Shalott and Lancelot; and lastly it happened between Lancelot and Elaine. In all three cases it
is always the one who loved the other who dies. Additionally, their death proves their love for their
lover, which makes unrequited love the most tragic of all. In Arthur s case his love for her proved that
he wanted her back. The Lady of Shallot knew the consequences when she gazed upon Lancelot s
imagery; and Elaine realized that she was so depressed she didn t see the point of living without
Lancelot. Contrary to the popular belief that Is it better to have loved than lost, all three characters in
these tragedies thought that it was definitively better to have lost than

Saturn Research Project
Our lab assignment this week was to research the Cassini/Huygens mission currently being conducted
by NASA and the European Space Agency. After learning about the mission, we need to list some of
the information it has provided us. As well as discuss what we have learned about Saturn, its rings and
the moon system. Choose at least one picture and explain it. Although, Saturn has always been my
favorite planet, I didn t know much about this mission. The lab proved fun and interesting to learn
about all the many discoveries of Saturn.
NASA launched the Cassini Huygens mission on October 15, 1997. Cassini was sent to explore the
system of the planet Saturn. With help from Venus, Earth and Jupiter, Cassini made a series of gravity

They used radar/microwave radiometer aboard NASA s Cassini spacecraft, which revealed a turbulent
atmosphere that has many similarities with Jupiter than previously realized. The new observations
reveal a calm and narrow equatorial belt surrounded by stormy bands just like on Jupiter. Although
regions at higher latitudes did show a different character that is unique to Saturn. Recently generated
global microwave maps of Saturn exposed detail of a mostly stable atmospheric environment. There
were some unpredicted diversity, including arid, desert like patches in Saturn s atmosphere.
The photo I chose is of a massive storm on Saturn in its north polar region. In false color the storm
looks like a deep rose color, which aids in seeing the details of this storm. A measuring of the eye is a
staggering 1,250 miles across. Cloud speeds reach as fast as 330 miles per hour. This photo is truly

Coronary Collateral Circulation And Humans Are Often More...
Studies looking at coronary collateral circulation in humans are typically more controversial. Skeptics
have stated that collateral development is probably due to the progression of coronary artery disease
rather than an effect of exercise training. In addition, direct measurement of collateral growth,
typically through coronary angiographic techniques, is difficult and may have severe limitations due
to low levels of resolution of vessels (Heaps et al., 2011). Small vessels involved in the coronary
collateral system ( 100μm) are incredibly difficult to view angiographically, so the full magnitude of
collateralization may not be assessed or may be drastically underestimated (Heaps et al., 2011;
Belardinelli et al., 1998).
An additional approach that studies have used to measure collateral circulation development is to
measure the rate pressure product in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). Increases in rate
pressure product at the beginning of myocardial ischemia have been found and is potentially related to
increased myocardial oxygen supply from collateral growth stimulation (Senti et al., 1998). After
exercise training, coronary patients have also seen a 29% increase in coronary flow reserve in
response to adenosine (Hambrecht et al., 1993). Patients with chronic CAD and impaired LV systolic
function who exercised at 60% of peak oxygen uptake 3 times a week for 8 weeks saw a significant
increase in mean collateral circulation score and improvements in wall

The Cause Of Racism Strengthens The Word Community
Racism stops the word community in its tracks. It is a weak and cowardly mindset, with obvious and
atrocious effects. It prevents the incorporation of other cultures that could positively benefit native
cultures. Racism incites hatred and fear, and breeds violence. The word racism means prejudice,
discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one
s own race is superior. It s the type of controversy that, when mentioned, generates bated breath and a
tense feeling. Racism is, at its best, disgusting. With that in mind, however, the question remains, why
would anyone ever harbor such feelings? The causes of racism can be unclear, but it is widely
accepted that discrimination of those of different races stem from the fear of loss and displacement,
ignorance, and a desire to feel superior. The fear of loss and displacement is a common reason for
racism. One who has a fear of the experiencing loss can strive to latch onto someone or something to
blame when loss occurs. This fear and anger is often directed to someone out of one s comfort zone,
which can be an individual or group from a different place, a different religion, a different gender, or,
in many cases, someone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, that is not to say that one should ever stop trying to prevent racism in communities, schools,
and workplaces. Racism will always create hatred, fear, and violence. One can not be a peaceful racist;
there are always those negative effects. The most straightforward solution to racism would be to
simply treat everyone with equal opportunity. However, due to seemingly uncontrollable fear of loss
and displacement, ignorance, and a desire to be superior, it seems that there will always be some
measure of racism in today s world and minds. It is each individual s job to prevent it as much as that

Short Note On Cutting My Hair
I stood there with the dull, black, kitchen scissors in my hand opening and closing them in thoughtful
anticipation. This was it. This was the moment I decided to be recklessly happy. I had wanted a haircut
for a long time and now I was going to get what I wanted regardless of the consequences. On
November 15, 2015, I decided to cut all of my hair off which gave me the courage to be myself whilst
handling the consequences, and through it all I learned that my happiness was more important than
making others happy. The decision to cut my hair was not a quick one, I deliberated on what to do for
years. I first got the idea to cut my hair four years ago when I was twelve. I did not mean a trim or
even a few inches off. I wanted a pixie cut. This was a shock to my parents because I had always had
long hair. The most I had ever cut was an inch or two. They were horrified when I cheerfully
presented them with a picture of the haircut I wanted. My parents had a stunned looks on their faces,
and in unison they said No . I, for the life of me, could not figure out why they reacted so badly. I
began to develop a plan. I would begin the process of cutting my hair by giving myself bangs. A few
weeks passed and then I did it. I grabbed a slightly dulled pair of scissors, parted my hair from left to
right near the front of my face, wrapped a hair tie around it and braced myself. I took a deep breath
and placed the scissors right above the tie and cut it off. Six inches of hair fell into

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Hydrocolubic Solubility
HYDROTROPIC SOLUBILIZATION [23][24] [25][26] Use of Additives may increase or decrease
the solubility of a solute in a given solvent. The effect of an additive depends very much on the
influence: it has on the structure of water or its ability to compete with solvent of water molecules. A
convenient quantitation result of the solute additive on the solubility of another solute may be obtained
by Setschenowequation.
Log S0/S = KCa where S = solubility in the presence of additive

3.5 MIXED SOLVENCY [31][32][33] Maheshwarihave proposed the concept of mixed solvency. His
opinion is that all substances whether liquids, gases or solids is solubilizing powder and hence
concentrated aqueous solution containing various dissolved substances can also improve the solubility

solvent for diclofenac sodium. Melted urea (M.P.: 132 135 ºC) dissolves diclofenac sodium (M.P.:
283ºC). This shows that melted urea act as solvent for diclofenac sodium. Melted ibuprofen

Created in 1964, Nike has continuously grown adding many diffusion lines to their brand to be more
distinct for different sports. Not only does Nike encompass almost all sports, but also they have
brilliant marketing and their trademark Just Do it partnered with the swoosh logo, which is endorsed
by celebrities makes Nike a desirable product. A demand that is worldwide requires employees that
are willing work around the clock, are paid less than minimum wage, and even employed children
workers. At least these were some of the things that Nike thought they needed, to increase profits and
get their product distributed. Nike made a huge mistake trying to cut cost by exploiting workers in
south Asian countries. Their ethical integrity was compromised and many consumers would not buy
from Nike, however now years later Nike has revamped their image with foundations and a traceable
supply chain. Hopefully, these measures Nike have taken will prevent any further ethical issues in the

Dr Pepper Snapple Inc: Energy Drinks
MKTG 5320
Wesley Gordon
Introduction
In the ever changing world of customer needs and expectations Dr Pepper Snapple was faced with an
increased customer focus on energy drinks. This area, when exploited correctly, is a high growth and
high margin beverage business. In early September 2007, Andrew Baker had his marching orders. He
emerged out a long discussion about entering the energy drink business and off he went.
First let s understand that an energy drink simply does as its title suggest, gives the consumer energy.
This is accomplished most of the time with caffeine from a guarana bean. Some of the other players in

This could be company strengths, current market penistrationpenetration, supplier agreements and
simply all of the business and/or customer loyalties that they have had. Also in today s market the
consumers are looking for the next new thing . They no longer want an extension of what they already
have. The consumers are loyal to a company, but can quickly change focus if a company fails to
continue to change to meet their needs and/or demands for change.
3. Do nothing
Dr Pepper could always do nothing at this time. During the stand down they could evaluate mergers,
joint ventures, or buyouts as they market strengthens.
Making a decision Given the track record of Dr Pepper Snapple and looking at the SWOT analysis I
feel that Dr Pepper should introduce an entire new product line. They can leverage their ability to
manage a diverse brand business, the leverage they have in the RTD segment, and the strengths that
the business as a whole has.
Implement the choice FDr Pepper has a great opportunity to penetrate the energy drink market. They
could quickly take a major market share and continue to support the ever changing customer needs
and ever changing expectations. The only remaining concept is how to do it.
1. Target Market Selection Who is to be serviced needs to be determined. Target heavy users, all users,
or even what age and gender to focus on.
2. Product Line and Positioning Choice The product line itself has to be determined. Is it

Macbeth is the main character in the play and makes a large impact on the entire storyline. He makes
drastic changes; he changes from good to evil. Many things caused this change to happen.
When the story first starts, Macbeth is a very loyal and respected general in King Duncan s army. In

Macbeth well he deserves that name. Till he fac d the slave, Which ne er shook hands, nor bade
farewell to him till he unseam d him from the nave to th chaps and fix d his head upon our battlement.
To which Duncan replies, O valiant cousin, worthy gentleman. This clearly shows that Macbeth is a

believe that before Macbeth murdered king Duncan he would not have decided to kill innocent women

A Study On Easter Island
Easter Island has long been a puzzling intrigue in the minds of historians, scholars, and the common
folk alike. What happened to the once tropical lush forests? How did a civilization erect such
impressive statues and why were they erected? And where are the people who erected these statues
now? Many of these questions have been explained over the years with circumstantial evidence and
preposterous assumptions. However, through careful analysis and meticulous evidence gathering, lead
scholars like Joanne Van Tilburg, Jared Diamond, Terry Hunt, and Carl Lipo, have established a
comprehensive literature on the history and likely events that happened on Easter Island.
One of the debates that continues today is centered primarily around the deforestation of Rapa Nui. An
island once thriving with lush tropical forests. On one side scholar s Tilburg and Diamond attribute the
deforestations to societal conflict and degradation while on the other, Hunt and Lipo argue that
deforestation was the result of combined human and rat resource depletion. I believe that Easter Island
represents a tragedy of the commons scenario in which the isolation of the island, from any other
island, contributed to the in fighting for resources (trees), power (chiefdoms), and prestige (moai),
ultimately leading to the extinction of a people and their environment. Diamond in Easter Island
Twilight , lays out a compelling case, with the support of Joanne Van Tilburg, that deforestation of

Nepal s Present Is Reflexive of Its History
Nepal s present is reflective of its history. Within the past few years, the country has been in a state of
disarray because its history has been fraught with political turmoil. As a whole, Nepal is a severely
underdeveloped country. Throughout its history, Nepal has had little interaction with the outside
world. The lack of political stability throughout its history accounts for many of the reasons of why
Nepal is the way it is. As a landlocked country, Nepal has had little interaction with the outside world
for most of its history. Unlike most developing countries, Nepal was never colonized. It is for the most
part still considered a traditional society and has not experienced much modernization. Nepal s history
for the most part has been able to play out with little interference. While it is still underdeveloped,
some theorists believe that the lack of outside interference will greatly benefit Nepal in the long term.
While Nepal has recently experienced vast political changes, it used to be a monarchy. In 1846, the
Ranas, the ruling dynasty, cut the country off from the outside world. In 1950, Anti Rana forces allied
with the monarch and the end of the Rana rule was brought about in 1951, allowing the sovereignty of
the crown to be restored. Nepal joined the United Nations in 1955 looking to be connected to the
outside world for the first time in almost a century. Nepal implemented a multi party constitution in

Scarlet Begonias/Fire on the Mountain Essay
Michael Peller has been a fan of the Grateful Dead for as long as he can remember. As a child, he
listened to their albums on cassette tapes in the car, and as a college student, he attended live
performances.
The Grateful Dead debuted in 1965 in Palo Alto, CA. It was known for its eclectic, psychedelic rock
style, which was sculpted amid the San Franciscan countercultural movement of the 1960s. The
movement gained speed alongside the civil rights movement and hippie culture. The Grateful Dead
embraced these new beliefs in their songwriting, rejecting common structure by adopting the jam
genre, which is based off of live improvisation.

fingers and bells on her shoes, a line that has stuck with Mike because of how the image reminds him
of the 70s, and as an extension, the ideas of freedom and being carefree. Mike doesn t have much of
an opinion about the lyrics of Fire on the Mountain , but he does love the rhythm and the bass guitar
because it just makes anybody want to dance (Michael Peller). However, I found the lyrics to be
meaningful in ways related to Mike s enjoyment of the song. The line, fire, fire on the mountain , is
repeated throughout the song, and almost sounds like an urgent call for help. Despite this, the beat and
music rolls on. The song pokes fun at a long distance runner who continues to make and dance to

Dhak The Causes Of Dhaka Is A Mega City
Dhaka is a mega city. More than twelve million people live here. Day by day the number is increasing
and most part of Dhaka is badly affected by the population growth. More than 7 hundred thousand
rickshaws ply or the city road, but only 75 thousand have legal number. This huge number of
rickshaws is creating traffic jam.
From time to time attempts are made to reduce the number, but the initiative usually produces no
results. The number of rickshaw pullers is huge. Almost there are no roads or streets or lanes free from
traffic jam. Traffic jam is obstructing trade and commerce. Illegal parking is another reason for traffic
jam. Cars, trucks and other vehicles are parked almost everywhere. Faulty traffic signaling system,
inadequate manpower and narrow road spaces and overtaking tendency of drivers create prolonged
traffic congestions and intensify sufferings of commuters keeping people motionless as well as
creating suffocating condition in the streets. So, alternative ways are urgently necessary to ease traffic

Not every foreign person is a threat to the security of Britain as the newspaper have us believe. The

that black people are often portrayed as criminals. Another example of black people being portrayed
as criminals is an article on the Nation of Islam, which reinforces stereotypes of black people being

Television representation of ethnic minorities portrays a particularly restricted range of social roles for
minority ethnic groups. In 1999 the broadcasting standard commission found that in terrestrial and
satellite television, members of minority ethnic groups appeared in 42% of programmes, accounting
for 7% of all people with a speaking role. They were best represented in children s programmes.
Children s programmes such as Newsround , CBBC and Blue peter all have had or have ethnic

Analysis Of Vince Lombardi s Speech
Although Vince Lombardi may have given a famous motivational speech, his wasn t the only
important event that was happening that day. There were many other events that was happening as
well for example on the same day of Vince s speech was the Vietnam War. Vince adapted
Imagery,Metaphor, and similes in his speech,What It takes to be number one. He uses those words
because the words granted the audience motivation to feel like a king.Vince gave a speech on the
gigantic open field that they made history on,winning the superbowl. Vince gave this speech at the

Taking it back,as it may sounds lombardi in reality he also faces the reality of facing rivals of other
teams which also brings out the competitiveness in himself for his team to win.Every time a football
player goes to ply his trade he s got to play from the ground up from the soles of his feet right up to
his head Being the top alpha is the only rule Lombard sets for his team, he doesn t need players who
thinks having second place is okay only the mindset that being number one is the only place is the
best. Players who keeps their head up and never down is the one he wants, he doesn t need players that
won t push their boulders in order to win. Being a coach may be a hard position but Lombardi was that
coach who was there to keep pushing his team. Lombardi may have been a coach that was harsh only
wanted commitment and want his team to be number one,not second. A lesson is that there are
options, you want to win you go give it your all but if you think it s alright to be second place there isn
t any place for that just only first place. Metaphors, much of this was seen

Why I Am A University Library
Until recently, I had no idea that there was a such thing as a Young Adult Librarian. I had assumed that
teaching would be the only job that would allow me to talk about books and share my love of books
with young adults; but then, one day I happened to stumble upon a blog ran by someone who was
sharing her experience as a Young Adult Librarian and I knew instantly that I had found what I wanted
to do with my life. At this point, I started looking around for ways to be involved with my university
library, just so I could have a taste of what it was like to work in a library setting. Since it is a
university library, I knew that my opportunity to deal with anything young adult would be pretty much
non existent, so I decided to just use the opportunity to learn whatever I possibly could about
librarianship. I spent the semester working with Collection Management and the Interlibrary Loan
office and I learned a little about the inner workings of those two areas, and a little about what it
meant to be a librarian. I still have my heart set on being a Young Adult Librarian in the end, and I
know without a doubt that a career as a librarian is right for me.
It is important to realize that being a young adult can be difficult, there are so many new experiences
and responsibilities that come with those years and it can be overwhelming for many. I want to
become a Young Adult Librarian so I can not only be in a position to, but also know how to best help
young adults navigate

My Report on the Jamaican Culture
Have you ever wanted to go to Jamaica because of their lifestyle or accent? Sure, you did! But, is their
lifestyle really what it is put out to be? Jamaican culture is the up building, upholding, and one of the
starting points of African culture. So, I am here to inform you about it. The culture of Jamaica is very
unique. Their culture is not the type of culture you would always imagine. Jamaican culture all started
in the dancehall. The dancehall started in the cities of Kingston in the late 1940s but really started to
become popular in the 1950s. The dancehall queen is the highest rank in the dancehall. The dancehall
queen means that the person is the most visible and the best dancer of them all. As soon as the music
hit the US in the 60 s and 70 s, it started to migrate into a Jamaican flavor or as known reggae. The
food customs of Jamaica is very different. The Jamaican patty is the most well known. These patties
are dated back all the way to when Jamaica was found. In this patty it is found to be different spices to
be cooked in their flaky shell. According to VIP Attractions, it states that, Today, patties can be found
all over Jamaica and the rest of the Caribbean. They became such a reminiscent piece of Jamaica that
they have made their way into Europe and North America to satisfy the longing palates of the
Jamaican Diaspora. Also, in the Jamaican culture, they eat Johnny Cakes. They also call these
Jamaican Fried Dumplings. Many breakfast platters are served

An Iep Meeting And Learn How The Meeting Is Conducted
I did not have a chance to sit in an IEP meeting and learn how the meeting is conducted. I am curious
to learn the counselor position in an IEP meeting. Due to the time period I started practicum, I was not
able to learn about the high school application process. When I started practicum in February, the
applications for high school were submitted. My site supervisor did not have a classroom lesson to
present while I was completing my hours. I want to learn how to conduct a classroom lesson and
connect that lesson to counseling. Finally, there were not any ACS cases occurring with a student for
me to learn about the ACS process. Because my counselor was busy showing me other counseling
duties, the topic of ACS was not mentioned. Hopefully in internship, I will be able to learn the correct
steps when calling an ACS case.
Extend To Which I Have Met My Learning Goals As stated in the section what I have learned, I have
met a couple of my learning goals. Some of the goals I met was, creating lesson plans for my groups,
demonstrating active listening, determine when to use open or close ended questions, provide useful
information of my students and being mindful of my personal biases. The hardest goal I met and
continue to practice meeting this goal is being mindful of my personal biases. I practice being mindful
by being aware of my personal biases. Usually, when I do not agree with different perspective from
mine, I make facial expression showing my disapproval. Also, I would

Competitive Strategy Of British Airways
Due to an unexpected worldwide recession in the early 1980s and years of inefficient processes,
British Airways (BA) faced the most catastrophic financial downturn in the organization s history. The
recession and current processes forced BA to drastically change their approach to business in order to
survive. As a direct result of change initiatives such as the survival plan created by John King and Roy
Watts, the customer focused strategy instilled by Colin Marshall, and the Putting People First
program, a new, more profound organizational culture became apparent. Through the use of primary
embedding mechanisms and secondary articulation mechanisms, BA successfully revitalized their
organization s culture, leading the company to greater financial success.
In order to outlast the harsh economic atmosphere, in September of 1981 John King, chairman of BA,
and Roy Watts, chief executive at BA, developed a unique strategy which they believed would save
the company. Both top executives were mightily concerned and knew that they needed to implement a
serious action plan that would change the direction of the organization. Therefore, the survival plan
produced involved tough, unpalatable and immediate measures that would ultimately save the
organization from peril. The survival plan included sweeping actions such as reducing staff by 20% in
nine months, freezing pay increases for a year, and closing parts of the business. Further, a year later,
King and Watts made more moves

Gene Flow In Full Genotypes Gene flow is the process by which individuals (full genotype), and/or the genetic material they carry (certain alleles of genes), move from one population to another and is an important source of genetic variation, because it brings new alleles in the population. Gene flow can be subdivided in three categories: (1) Migration: the movement of full genotypes (individuals) from one population to another within the same species, which may be further integrated later by breeding, (2) Introgression: the movement of genes from one species or strain to another through a process of successful mating (hybridization) and backcrossing, (3) Horizontal (or lateral) gene transfer: the movement of genes from one species or strain to another without successful ... • 3. Something s Got Ta Give By Diane Keaton In society age is a key aspect in the way people view others and how they communicate, a person s age sets a tone for the language they use in communication with different groups be it their peers, elders, or the young. Three aspects of age in society are communication, ability, and socially constructed stigmas. Many of such aspects are portrayed in the movie Something s Gotta Give , where a swinger on the cusp of being a senior citizen with a taste for young women falls in love with an accomplished woman closer to his age. Harry, the soon to be senior citizen is played by Jack Nicholas and Erica, played by Diane Keaton is an accomplished writer and the mother of Harry s young companion. The movie makes you stop and think; what does age mean in the dating world today. In the world of dating many people ask, does age matter? The answer is yes and no; as many different components come into play. In the movie Somethings Gotta Give , Harry dates a younger woman and when he meets her mom she doesn t seem to mind that her boyfriend is much older than her. An older male and younger woman is accepted in society, whereas an older woman dating a younger man becomes labeled as a cougar . A man who dates a younger woman receives no such title, this is socially constructed by the white male dominant group, as to say it is ok for a man to do it, but when a woman does it, she s a cougar . A man dating a young woman has been around for centuries and coming from a dominant group the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Excerpts From The Overspent American I Was Not... Before reading the excerpts from The Overspent American I was not familiar with Juliet Schor s work. While reading however, I saw that her views were different from many of the other authors that we have read so far. When I had finished the reading I found the reading enjoyable and fascinating. The reason that her writing intrigued me was because of her multiple perspectives while writing. Not only does she concentrate on the economics of American people, but she also uses a sociologist lens to show the purchasing habits of our culture. The Overspent American focuses on how we as a society have changed our spending patterns from the past. During the 1950s the phrase keeping up with the Jones was coined and it represented Americans trying to outspend their neighbors and friends. For example, my friend buys a boat and I also need to buy a boat to make sure my friends saw me as being wealthy. Today our society as changed in many ways but Schor finds that our spending habits have altered the most since the 1950s. By analyzing and evaluating her work, one can see how Americans spending habits have changed over time and how our economics have been overtaken by television and broadcast media. As mentioned earlier, during the 1950s people were more likely to compare themselves to their neighbors and community. There was limited forms of media that everyone saw on a mass scale so most class groups would read or watch the same movies, books, etc. People would look out their ... Odysseus left his wife, Penelope, and their young son, Telemachos, almost twenty years before the telling of this story to fight in the Trojan War. His absence places Penelope in a rather precarious position. Faced with many different circumstances, both good and bad, Penelope is on her own to decide the path she wishes to take. Depending on her decisions, the situations could either be filled with wonderful opportunities or perilous dangers. The strong character of Penelope is revealed by her decisions. While Odysseus is away from home, Penelope finds herself playing the role of dutiful wife ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For my mother, against her will, is beset by suitors... (Odyssey 2.50). Assuming that Odysseus had died in the course of the war, they wish to marry her, although no news has yet been delivered as to Odysseus true fate. Meanwhile, the suitors are eating all her food, killing off all her livestock, and generally using up all the resources of the household (Odyssey 1.248 251). Elders of the town suggest Penelope forget her pride and go home to her father and for him to arrange a new wedding for her. Let him urge his mother to go back to her father s, / and they shall appoint the marriage and arrange for the wedding presents... (Odyssey 2.195 196) Thus, the suitors pose multiple dangers for Penelope. If the suitors ruin all the household s resources, or if one were to successfully persuade her to marry him, she would lose her power position. Likewise, if the resources run out and she is forced to move back in with her father, she would lose both her power position and her autonomy. Along with the suitors, Penelope also faces possible dangers from her own son. Even though Telemachos is not in support of sending Penelope back to her father, he does not fail to underestimate and otherwise disregard her. Following with the typical Greek mindset, Telemachos views women as inherently inferior to men. This view includes how he sees his mother. He automatically assumes that she cannot run a ... The Yellow Wallpaper from the Point of View of a Doctor s Wife The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, is a story told from the first person point of view of a doctor s wife who has nervous condition. The first person standpoint gives the reader access only to the woman s thoughts, and thus, is limited. The limited viewpoint of this story helps the reader to experience a feeling of isolation, just as the wife feels throughout the story. The point of view is also limited in that the story takes places in the present, and as a result the wife has no benefit of hindsight, and is never able to actually see that the men in her life are part of the reason she never gets well. Like the narrator, women of that time were directed to suppress their creativity as it threatened the dominating male s sense of control. By having the narrator be forced to write in secret, There comes John, and I must put this away he hates to have me write a word, Gilman was able to show that even the simplest things, like wanting to write were forbidden, lest the male approved (392). Prohibited from working and not being able to contribute to the household as a proper wife, the narrator begins to feel helpless: So I... am absolutely forbidden to work until I am well again. Personally, I disagree with their ideas (390). The narrator s husband and brother both exert their own will over hers, forcing her to do what they think is the appropriate behavior for a sick woman. She has been given a schedule[d] prescription for each hour in the day; [John] takes all care from me (391). The way that she is required to act involves practically no exertion of her own free will. Instead, she is expected to obediently accept the fact that her own ideas are mere fancy, and only the opinions of the men in her life can be trusted. The fact that she is not allowed to think for herself is narrowing the extent of her authority in her life and of her autonomy. For example, many HFTs withdrew from the market during the 2010 flash crash and some even became liquid demanders (A Blessing or A Curse? The Impact of HFT on Institutional Investors). As such, during crises, HFTs could cause market dislocation to occur as they pull out from the markets and funds will not be able to offload positions as macro news events build up, causing some to suffer huge losses. This is because for HFTs to make the markets in less liquid counters, it requires them to hold long term unwanted positions in the security thus making the cost of market making high. As such, long term investors would still be sustaining a high bid spread ratio when trading in less liquid markets. Avoiding HFT In regards to liquidity detection by HFTs, funds have also begun to not trade in large open markets when they know it s difficult to hide large positions, preferably instead in using dark pools an off exchange platform operated by brokers. • 12. Implicit Bias Analysis Implicit Biases in Reader Response Reading Jane Austen has never appealed to me. The combination of dated prose, a general aversion to plots I deemed to be too romantic , and my viewing of the film adaptations were enough to keep me away from her novels. When I was asked to read Persuasion for a class, I was hesitant and unwilling to fully engage with the material. This prevented me from enjoying the book fully. I didn t quite know what was holding me back from enjoying the book, but I knew that it was something more than my explicit biases against Austen. After a little reflection, I realized that my implicit biases were shaping my reading of Austen. My implicit bias against a novel and author that I perceived as overly feminine was coloring how I was interacting with and what messages I was taking from Persuasion (Austen). Implicit biases are the unconscious attitudes that shape our thoughts, actions, and beliefs (Banaji and Greenwald 46; Staats et al. 10; Schneider 169).Their impact is important to study because implicit biases shape our responses to situations. Reader response theory examines how a reader responds to a given text. Theorists such as Jauss and Eco include concepts that implicit bias can and should be built into. • 27. Coronary Collateral Circulation And Humans Are Often More... Studies looking at coronary collateral circulation in humans are typically more controversial. Skeptics have stated that collateral development is probably due to the progression of coronary artery disease rather than an effect of exercise training. In addition, direct measurement of collateral growth, typically through coronary angiographic techniques, is difficult and may have severe limitations due to low levels of resolution of vessels (Heaps et al., 2011). Small vessels involved in the coronary collateral system ( 100μm) are incredibly difficult to view angiographically, so the full magnitude of collateralization may not be assessed or may be drastically underestimated (Heaps et al., 2011; Belardinelli et al., 1998). An additional approach that studies have used to measure collateral circulation development is to measure the rate pressure product in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). Increases in rate pressure product at the beginning of myocardial ischemia have been found and is potentially related to increased myocardial oxygen supply from collateral growth stimulation (Senti et al., 1998). After exercise training, coronary patients have also seen a 29% increase in coronary flow reserve in response to adenosine (Hambrecht et al., 1993). The causes of racism can be unclear, but it is widely accepted that discrimination of those of different races stem from the fear of loss and displacement, ignorance, and a desire to feel superior. The fear of loss and displacement is a common reason for racism. One who has a fear of the experiencing loss can strive to latch onto someone or something to blame when loss occurs. • 36. A Study On Easter Island Easter Island has long been a puzzling intrigue in the minds of historians, scholars, and the common folk alike. What happened to the once tropical lush forests? How did a civilization erect such impressive statues and why were they erected? And where are the people who erected these statues now? Many of these questions have been explained over the years with circumstantial evidence and preposterous assumptions. However, through careful analysis and meticulous evidence gathering, lead scholars like Joanne Van Tilburg, Jared Diamond, Terry Hunt, and Carl Lipo, have established a comprehensive literature on the history and likely events that happened on Easter Island. One of the debates that continues today is centered primarily around the deforestation of Rapa Nui. An island once thriving with lush tropical forests. On one side scholar s Tilburg and Diamond attribute the deforestations to societal conflict and degradation while on the other, Hunt and Lipo argue that deforestation was the result of combined human and rat resource depletion. I believe that Easter Island represents a tragedy of the commons scenario in which the isolation of the island, from any other island, contributed to the in fighting for resources (trees), power (chiefdoms), and prestige (moai), ultimately leading to the extinction of a people and their environment. Within the past few years, the country has been in a state of disarray because its history has been fraught with political turmoil. As a whole, Nepal is a severely underdeveloped country. Throughout its history, Nepal has had little interaction with the outside world. The lack of political stability throughout its history accounts for many of the reasons of why Nepal is the way it is. As a landlocked country, Nepal has had little interaction with the outside world for most of its history. Unlike most developing countries, Nepal was never colonized. It is for the most part still considered a traditional society and has not experienced much modernization. Nepal s history for the most part has been able to play out with little interference. While it is still underdeveloped, some theorists believe that the lack of outside interference will greatly benefit Nepal in the long term. While Nepal has recently experienced vast political changes, it used to be a monarchy. In 1846, the Ranas, the ruling dynasty, cut the country off from the outside world. In 1950, Anti Rana forces allied with the monarch and the end of the Rana rule was brought about in 1951, allowing the sovereignty of the crown to be restored. As a child, he listened to their albums on cassette tapes in the car, and as a college student, he attended live performances. The Grateful Dead debuted in 1965 in Palo Alto, CA. It was known for its eclectic, psychedelic rock style, which was sculpted amid the San Franciscan countercultural movement of the 1960s. She also had rings on her fingers and bells on her shoes, a line that has stuck with Mike because of how the image reminds him of the 70s, and as an extension, the ideas of freedom and being carefree. Mike doesn t have much of an opinion about the lyrics of Fire on the Mountain , but he does love the rhythm and the bass guitar because it just makes anybody want to dance (Michael Peller). Competitive Strategy Of British Airways Due to an unexpected worldwide recession in the early 1980s and years of inefficient processes, British Airways (BA) faced the most catastrophic financial downturn in the organization s history. The recession and current processes forced BA to drastically change their approach to business in order to survive. As a direct result of change initiatives such as the survival plan created by John King and Roy Watts, the customer focused strategy instilled by Colin Marshall, and the Putting People First program, a new, more profound organizational culture became apparent.
