1970s Environmental Issues
It is crucial to begin with an analysis of the most current public perspective, using surveys and
research done by the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication and Pew Research Center.
This point will be characterized by how environmental issues tie into politics and influence a
registered voter s vote. Will set up the framework for the following point of past trends and laying out
why public influence is impacted by events. Prior to the 1960s, environmental issues were not of
principal concern or of mass knowledge. (Rome, 2003) Up until the 1970s, environmental issues were
predominantly state issues and rarely regulated by the federal government. Building up to the 1970s
also known as the environmental era, many social platforms began ... Show more content on

(Cota, 1995) While there was a growing concern that follows the great environmental era, there was
concern that the 1980s would see decline in public concern for environmental problems. (Dunlap

the environmental decade may be just that the only environmental decade. While in no comparison of
the magnitude of the 1970s, this decade was not completely void of legislation. As seen with the
1990s, the focus of legislation was shifted to responding to high publicity environmental disasters
such as Love Canal, which gained an extraneous amount of coverage and influence. In the next decade
and on, environmentalism becomes less of a public movement and more so a political statement.
Suddenly, the argument is shifted from wanting regulation to a debate between economic and

Persuasive Essay On The Public Transportation System
What started out as a trip to Philadelphia ended up turning into a unique experience with public
transportation. There is more to public transportation than hopping on a bus or train and just getting to
your destination. There are unsaid rules that go along with riding in the public transportation system
and the point of my exploration remix is to share these rules with any other college students who do
not fully understand them. Without being aware of the unsaid rules, it is very easy to break them. I
want to prevent college students from making the mistake of embarking on the public transportation
system with no prior knowledge and prevent students from breaking any of the rules like I did. My
remix serves to provide quick information for those who want to use public transportation. College
students primarily will not take the time to seriously read through a handbook for public transportation
nor sit down to watch a video. However, a flyer with only a few sentences is readable and convenient.
All a flyer needs is a little bit of color and bold lettering and there it is! One of the rhetorical ideas I
used was humor. Humor is a great tool when used correctly because the listener will start to pay
attention when they laugh. I achieved this appeal to pathos by using cartoons on the flyer. It is easy to
glance over something and not read it but when something small makes one chuckle, they will retain
the information received. Using a tool such as humor allows the work to be memorable.
Technologically this was a tough assignment. At first, the original plan was to make a short video type
public service announcement. Unfortunately, I did not possess the knowledge to create one.
Regardless, making a flyer may be more effective for college students. I have incredibly awful
handwriting, so for me to draw any sort of flyer would be a waste of time. A more aesthetically
pleasing method would be to create a flyer online using microsoft word, multiple colors as well as a
small amount of photography. This is exactly what I did. There were many things I would have liked
to do with the flyer, but since I lacked technical knowledge, I could not achieve these ideas. I would
have liked to fade the photos behind the text so you

Fracking Controversy
Fracking refers to the process of drilling into the earth, which is commonly referred to as hydraulic
fracturing. This injection of water, sand, and chemicals especially in shale deposits releases oil or gas
that has been trapped for many years that was initiated many years ago for the purpose of oil and gas
extraction from the earth (Anderson and Bosselmann, 2013). The process can be carried out both
vertically or horizontally such that it creates new pathways or extend already existing ones. The
process causes a lot of controversy and at the same time, it acts as a potential key that will someday in
the future unlock greater sources of energy (Bamberger and Oswald, 2014). This research therefore
seeks to look at the positive aspects of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, further research has shown that shale oils and gases develop risks that interfere
with the quality of air especially from the exhausts of the trucks involved in the transportation (Wilber,

ground and the surface sources. This means that the releases of chemicals among other underground
spillages often cause unwanted mixtures between the clean sources and the migrating gases and

Visits From Inside The Black Mirror
Visits from Inside the Black Mirror Over the last ten years, technology has transformed almost every
aspect of our lives before we ve had time to stop and question it. We have access to all the information
in the world but no brain space left to absorb anything longer than 140 character tweets. Black Mirror
TV Show, Charlie Brooker, Channel 4. Within this quote, Brooker says that people have sold their
own ability to think independently just for all the information in the world at their fingertips.
Technology has only deepened its grasp on consumers by becoming a necessity for conformity. The
Visits from Inside the Black Mirror will interpret the consumers desire for social acceptance.
From Victorian era mad scientists to modern day serial killers, new monsters appear as American
society evolves, paralleling fluctuating challenges to the cultural status quo. (Poole). Today s modern
monster is Technology. Technology controls people s actions, their emotions, and influences their
decisions. Take in the thought of holidays and special events. During those times consumers race to
their local Best Buys and Apple stores just for the latest trends in technology. They spend hundreds of
dollars on these time wasters. That false hope of acceptance and peace makes the drive for technology
even more powerful.
In the year 2016 owning some form of technology is a necessity and without it the consumer is kicked
out of society forever. This is proven within the smartphone

A Spiritual Gain but a Financial Lose
Meditation has always been seen as a way to keep the mind and soul healthy. Mediation dates back to
1500 BCE originating in Ancient India. The practice soon started to expand and adapt to other cultures
around the world. Some of the earliest references to meditation are found in the Hindu scriptures and
it was around the 6th to 5th centuries that other forms of meditation developed into Confucian, Taoist
China, and Buddhist India (Taham). This spiritual and religious practice has been around for
thousands of years, benefiting many people. However, in the year 2017 mediation no longer feels like
a spiritual practice but rather like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Research suggests that meditation may physically change the brain and body and could potentially
help to improve many health problems and promote healthy behaviors. In a 2012 study, researchers
compared brain images from 50 adults who meditate and 50 adults who don t meditate. Results
suggested that people who practiced meditation for many years have more folds in the outer layer of
the brain. This process (called gyrification) may increase the brain s ability to process information
(Meditation: In Depth).
In many ways, the scientific studies showing how positive mediation has created this craze of
mediation. Mediation can be linked to many exercise practices such as yoga. Meditation and yoga go
hand in hand. Spending a few minutes of meditating then go into a hard body workout of yoga than
ending the class with meditation. Many private yoga studies promote the practice of meditation and
yoga increasing prices of their facility. Famous instructor Holly Rilinger is a perfect example. Rilinger
has created this workout called Calm and Cardio starting with a five minute guided meditation and
then launches into cardio and strength training intervals using bodyweight and dumbbells. During
each song, you alternate between two exercises while moving to the beat of the booming music
(Held). She has combined meditation with exercises and is now using this technique of meditation to
create an empire.
Exercise meditation is not the only thing that is expanding. There are

Banning Books In Schools Essay
Thesis: Classic works of literature should not be amended or banned because the novels pertain to
pivotal moments in history and help shape literary works today.
Often, groups of people with similar interests will congregate with the intent of banning a book or
ridding it of certain material. Not only does this strip classic literature of its raw delicacies, but it
violates the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. In New York in 1949, classic works
such as Oliver Twist and The Merchant of Venice were thought to generate hatred toward to Jews
(Gould). While some may be offended by an author s point of view or ideals, removing potentially
offensive language from books not only violates the right to freedom of speech, but ... Show more

Strongly opposing censorship, Jenkins claims, According to this perspective, children can only
respond to books by imitating what they read. If, for example, a book tells a story about a child getting
lost in a store and getting an ice cream cone when they are finally found, young readers will respond
by heading for a store so that they can get lost and have ice cream cones too. Children really have
much more complicated minds than that they aren t just passive vessels. Books are really just one
piece of their whole world (University of Illinois). Jenkins comments on the impressionable youth and
the impact that works of literature have on them to prove that the youth is more mature and sensible
than certain institutions believe them to be. By removing questionable material from books, these
institutions in which books are banned are removing all trust and confidence in readers. Hiding classic
literature from children, again, sets boundaries on their knowledge and does not allow them to
appreciate timeless works. Jenkins also says, The act of banning a book is taking a public stance to
intimidate potential readers. It s almost as if they re saying, Read this, and you will meet with our
disapproval. It s definitely more of a symbolic act, in the same way that flag burning is a symbolic act

Tennessee Williams And The Great State Of Tennessee
On March 26, 1911 the human version of the great state of Tennessee was born in Columbus
Mississippi. His name was Thomas Lanier Tennessee Williams. Tennessee was one of the most
amazing playwrights of the 20th century. Although he was one of the greatest playwrights of his time
he had to endure many obstacles throughout his lifetime. He had to deal with the complicated
marriage that he had with his wife. Also his parents marriage was very strained, and caused problems
in his life as well. Tennessee s father was an alcoholic, and was often times very violent. Also as a
child Tennessee Williams almost lost his life to a very serious disease. As a result of Tennessee
Williams flaws, obstacles, and determination he went on to become one of the greatest play writers of
the 20th century.
To start with, Tennessee was born on March 26, 1911 in Columbus, Mississippi he was the second
child of his siblings. According to the New York times article (2014), Tennessee suffered from a bad
case of Diphtheria in which he almost died. This incident left Tennessee weak, and he was confined to
the house for almost a year. Tennessee s father was an alcoholic, and often times had a very bad
temper (New York Times 2014). I think that Tennessee s father drinking problem effected his life in a
big way. Tennessee often times had to move around a lot due to his father s drinking problem when he
was 16 years old he won his third prize for an essay that he wrote which was called Can a Good Wife

Cultural Analysis of Australia
Geography Australia is both the smallest and oldest continent in the world, and it is the only country
that is also a continent. [1] It is an island located between the Indian Ocean and the South Pacific, just
south of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. At 2,941,299 square miles, Australia is the sixth largest
country in the world and only about 150,000 square miles (about the size of Montana) smaller than the
continental United States. Its interior land is a flat and sparsely populated desert, but as you move
outward the climate changes to grassland, subtropical, tropical, and even temperate in the southeastern
region. [1] While more than 70% of Australia is arid, the rest includes a variety of rich environments

Figure 2 Australian population concentrations by region. Growth Every state had population growth
between 2001 and 2011. Queensland recorded the largest growth (845,200 people), while Western
Australia recorded the fastest growth (24%). The Northern Territory had the smallest growth,
increasing by 33,600 people, while Tasmania and South Australia had the slowest growth (both 8.4%).
[6] A key contributor to change in the distribution of Australia s population is internal migration.
During 2009 2010, 331,400 people moved from one state or territory to another. This is an 8% drop
from the same period one year earlier (359,900). [6] In 2009 2010, Victoria, Queensland, Western
Australia and Tasmania all recorded net interstate migration gains, while New South Wales, South
Australia, Northern Territory and the Australian Capital Territory had net interstate migration losses.
Queensland has recorded positive net interstate migration for more than 30 years; in contrast, New
South Wales has had net losses every year since 1978. However, any losses due to net interstate
migration in 2009 were offset by growth due to natural increase (births minus deaths) and net overseas
migration. [7] Age Distribution The life expectancy in Australia is among the highest in the world at
79.7 years. Over the past century life expectance has increased by 24 years. Below is the age structure

Importance Of Trailer Brakes In Florida
If you recently purchased your first large boat, you need to make sure that you meet all the legal
requirements in Florida before you haul your boat down to the water. Florida has specific regulations
in place for any trailers that are used to haul larger loads, such as a big sail boat, in order to keep you
and the motorist around you safe on the road.
Trailer Brakes
The first thing you need to do is make sure that each wheel of your trailer is equipped with its own set
of brakes. You are required by law to have each wheel on your trailer have its own set of brakes when
you pull more than 3,000 pounds of weight.
Most larger boats will exceed this weight capacity; your owner s manual that came with your boat
should include weight information. If your boat is close to or ... Show more content on

You need to be able to see these taillights from at least 1,000 feet away. Be sure to test your taillights

Trailer Hitch Safety Backups
If your trailer is hitched to your vehicle, you need to make sure that you have some safety back ups in
place as well to keep your trailer attached. You can use chains or cables as a back up method to secure
your trailer to your vehicle.
Trailer Permit
If you are towing an oversized boat, you will need to obtain a permit. Luckily, the state of Florida has
made it relatively easy to obtain a permit. You just have to go to the Florida Department of
Transportation (FDOT) website and use their Permit Application System (PAS) to apply for a permit.
If you are only going to need to haul your boat a few times a year, you can apply for a trip permit
through the PAS. You can get approved online and print out your own permit. If you are going to be
hauling your boat on a regular basis, you are going to need to apply for an Annual permit. You can still
apply online for an Annual permit; however the permit itself is sent through the mail

Classroom Behavior Management For African American Students
The number of students being diagnosed with or suspected of having an Emotional/Behavioral
disability is rapidly increasing, especially for African American students and in students at younger
ages. The U.S. Department of Education reports that an African American child is one and a half times
more likely to be placed in a classroom for children with emotional disturbances than a White child
(Children s Defense Fund, 2011). I have observed that many of these students are often disengaged
during literacy instruction. As a result, these students present literacy inadequacies in addition to
behavioral challenges. Incorporating culturally responsive pedagogy and interventions across all
content areas increases a student s ability to comprehend texts. In addition to implementing research
based academic instruction, cultural instructional modifications, adequate teacher preparation for
teaching EBD students, engaging classroom behavior management for teachers of students with
Emotional/Behavioral disability, contribute to the literacy growth of EBD students.
An Emotional/Behavioral Disability is defined by:
(1) the student exhibits social, emotional or behavioral functioning that so departs from generally
accepted, age appropriate ethnic or cultural norms that it adversely affects a child s academic progress,
social relationships, personal adjustment, classroom adjustment, self care or vocational skills; (2) the
behaviors are severe, chronic, and frequent, occur at school and at

Human beings develop beliefs of the world based on their interpretations of observations and

The physical embodiment of cultural capital has become a substantial, if not the primary educational
force, in regulating the meanings, values, and tastes that set the norms that define our understanding of
self, the foundation of social life, and dictates one s position within the social order. Repeated
exposure to socializing agents within a family normalizes certain dynamics and renders others

The Impact Of Telemedicine On Health, A Systematic...
Introduction
To evaluate and study the impact of telemedicine in health, a systematic literature review was
conducted. An electronic research through the University of Maryland library was done the articles
selected dated from 2000 to 2014. A total of 12 articles was reviewed that dealt with clinical
outcomes, efficacy, patient and provider satisfaction. Telemedicine as an emerging field can greatly
improve the outcomes of healthcare thus resulting in decrease the delivery cost of healthcare. While
the results of the studies are inconclusive on some of the areas, there are some strong supports for
patient satisfaction. The literature reviews cost effectiveness, provider satisfaction, patient satisfaction

Several managed care organizations were represented. All of the organizations interviewed indicated
that there is a market demand for complementary and alternative medicine such as Telemedicine. The
study showed that while cost and clinical efficacy were important, both of these were less important
than market demand. This unexpected result show that consumer demands are actually more important
in shaping the demand for telemedicine and should be used to pursue development of telemedicine
among healthcare providers that will essentially lead to better reimbursement from health insurance
companies (Whitten and Kuwahara, 2003). Whitten and Kuwara states that payers must answer both
patients need and suppliers concerns of telemedicine cost Methods and Organization of the Report.

Pros And Cons Of Resealing Your Wood Deck

77 elephants were examined at a British zoo, and only 11 of them were able to walk correctly. It is

zoos have shut down their elephant attractions (Smith, 2008). Many people are attracted to keeping
wild animals as pets. They believe the wild animals to be interesting and exciting. At a young age, the
animals may seem easier to tame, but the older these animals get, the more aggressive they tend to
become. Many problems can develop from keeping a wild animal as a pet. Wild animals have specific
needs that have to be met, in order for them to prosper. Only the most exceptional zoos and wildlife
centers provide a living area that somewhat resembles the natural habitat of these animals, but it is
virtually impossible to provide sufficient space for larger species (CFHS). In captivity animals do not

harm to people. Some wild animals, such as reptiles and hedgehogs can actually carry bacteria called

then it can suffer psychologically (CFHS). Many wild animals that are kept as pets often get

The Importance Of Teaching A Past Lesson
One of the greatest aspects of teaching is having the opportunity to engage with students. Engaging in
the practice requires that teachers are constantly reflecting and wondering how they can better
enhance their performance. This is often done through reflecting on past lessons as well as actively
seeking appropriate leadership roles and opportunities. Effective teachers are master reflectors who
always understand how their actions contribute to the success of their students, their families and their
communities. Effective teachers are also sure that they are using their reflections and new knowledge
to inform their practice. In addition to reflecting on their own practice, new teachers are always

My first piece of evidence I have included for Standard 9 is an analysis of a past lesson. In the
analysis, I carefully reflect on the effects my choices and actions in the classroom have impacted my
students. Despite how passionately teachers may feel about engaging with students, it is important that
we are constantly wondering how we can improve our performance in the classroom. Little that
happens in the classroom happens for no reason. Constant reflection allows for teachers and students
alike to understand how classroom interactions can become more meaningful. In addition to my lesson
analysis, I have also included a lesson plan and its subsequent reflection. The lesson

Accidents Happen By Edgar Snyder Associates Essay
Accidents Happen According to Edgar Snyder Associates, there were 2,823 motor vehicle accidents
among people ages 13 to 19 years old in 2012. On a rainy day in October of 2015, when I was 18
years old I got into a car wreck while I was driving to work. Be careful when driving, you never know
when an accident will happen to you. When I woke up that morning I had no idea what the day had in
store for me. To start off, I had gotten up late and I was rushing through my morning routine. I needed
to be at work by 8:30 am and I kept my eyes on the clock. I really did not want to be late, after all I
had only just started working there a few weeks ago. When I finally had myself all ready, it was 8:20
am. It takes me fifteen minutes to get to work in Springfield from Williamsville and I knew that if I
wanted to get there on time I would need to hurry. As I went outside to my car I noticed that it was
sprinkling rain. I started my car and I was off. I was speeding and trying to make it through every light
without stopping. All the while I was still concerned with the music I had playing, constantly changing
the station. I was getting close to work now and it was about 8:27 am. I had just passed over the
Sangamon River and was approaching Freedom gas station where I needed to turn left onto Dirksen
Parkway. The light rain was still coming down as I got closer to the turn lane. I soon realized that quite
a few cars were backed up at the light ahead of me. I started to get over into

Kim Souzzi Religion Analysis
Kim Souzzi was 23 when she succumbed glioblastoma, a terminal brain cancer that is incurable;
however, her legacy lives on through what in the past was just science fiction. Kim s brain is
cryogenically frozen in the hopes that it one day can be mapped and her conscious be uploaded to a
computer. Experts in the field of neuroscience disagree whether or not the process is possible as time
and technology are potent variables. Despite being riddled with moral, fundamental, and scientific
questions Kim raised funding via her online blog and Reddit. There were mixed comments on Kim s
blog, many supportive of her endeavor and many on the contrary. Ideals clash when it comes to human
mortality. For centuries religion and science are in constant conflict, ... Show more content on

Kim s passion was neuroscience and studying the brain and it is only appropriate that she sought a
higher cause following her death. Kim was denied a legacy dying so young so she hopes for a second
chance with the advance of technology. It is therefore no question of science, religion, or morals;
rather it is that her dying wishes right or wrong. We all have our own rituals surrounding death.
Whether it is burial, cremation, cast into the ocean, or even used to further science, there is a purpose
in the final rite. Kim s story is a touching one because like she states in the video on New York Times,
she could just be buried and nothing more would come from that. Furthermore, she decides to
continue sponsoring her passions even after death. No matter what paradigm or perspective one takes,
Kim pursued what she truly loved in the hope that one day she will be a part of something greater than
herself. Technology and science are not ready for the ambitions of Kim; however, time is the
dependent factor in which science fiction will become science reality. I support her decision and what
she is doing, she follows her ambitions and although peculiar and eccentric, they are however her final
wishes and the opinions of the masses are irrelevant. The question of whether or not the computer
with Kim s conscious is her or not, because that is a clash of science and philosophy. People are afraid
of what they do not know. Virtual Mortality may be the key to preserving ideas of great minds,
musicians, philosophers, inventors and innovators. Death will not be overcome by the prospect of the
digital conscious rather life will continue. What was once history will continue to the future. Kim s
endeavor represents progress and if possible and successful will change the way death is

Off Road Heaven Research Paper
Off Road Heaven: Six of the Best Off Road Destinations For some of us, getting enjoyment from our
vehicles goes far beyond what the paved urban playground has to offer. We want a challenge. We want
a sense of exploration. We want roads, where instead of signs, the terrain itself sets the speed limit.
There s just something about that sense of accomplishment every time we complete a new trail or
obstacle that makes us want more. Everyone who owns an off road vehicle has their own favorite spot
to get away from the concrete jungles. Whether it s a light, relaxing ride down a dirt trail, or total axel
snapping carnage though boulders the size of small busses, there are some destinations you cannot
allow yourself to pass up. If off roading is your hobby of choice, here are the top six off road trails and
parks in the United States that should be on your bucket list.

The extreme trails can involve steep, off camber climbs, and washouts that could swallow a vehicle.
Once again, the extreme trails are meant for buggies and heavily modified vehicles. Hollister is home
to several major off road competition events such as the Top Truck Challenge. Those events usually
include its famous obstacle called the Tank Trap. The Tank Trap is a long, deep mud pit with logs
buried at the bottom. It has been known to break many of the best built off road vehicles. Besides the
dirt and mud, you can also find trails with sand, washed out gullies, and other trails that lead through

Groupwork Reflection
Background
Groupwork is considered one of the important parts in Business Analytics, no matter in professional
study or in working career. To provide the similar experience, the business analytics course in UNSW
had set a groupwork task to analyze the business blueprint for internet of thing (IoT) in different
business domain. This individual reflection will basically show the experience got from this
groupwork process.

Strengths Difficulties
During the process of working on the group assignment and presentation, it is observed that the team
has shown some good features of teamworking, which helped us to finish the groupwork task in a
higher quality and efficiency. These features might include:
Schedule Planning and Management. One of the good points for the team is to process the work
schedule with flexibility and conscientiousness. For instance, before taking the first group meeting,
the team members had shared class and working timetables so that the team could find the meeting
time that all team members are available and ensure the quality of meeting. Moreover, when booking
the room at meeting time, the team will book rooms for two more hours in case that the problem might
not be solved in the scheduled meeting time, which provides high flexibility for the team.
Information Share Analysis. Another good point for the team is to share the information and make
analysis for multiple parts. Instead of fully distributing assignment parts to each member, the team
shared all the cases as well as articles found to one independent folder, then thoroughly discussed the
possibility to apply these cases in different parts. Thus, the final group assignment had shown high
consistency on the content and the overall quality of our groupwork had been

It is easier for people to get more sleep if they try to go to bed at the same time and wake up at the
same time every day. (Williams Carey, Pg. 1, 3) Having good sleep hygiene is important because
when people sleep, bodies can repair themselves. Human bodies repair both physically and
psychologically when they sleep. When a body repairs itself physically, it heals things such as broken
bones and bruises. Furthermore, when the human body repairs itself mentally, it heals things such as
stress and memory loss. Bad sleep behavior and hygiene can lead to sleep decreasing. One way for
sleep to decrease is drinking caffeine or alcohol before bed if they do it will take them forever to fall
asleep. Don t have a heavy meal right before bed, or it will interfere with sleep. Never try to make an
effort to go to sleep because sleep should come naturally to everyone. (Williams Carey, Pg. 3 4) There
are many several different stages of sleep. These stages are called the sleep cycle. During this cycle
people have five measurable stages of sleep, but these can be simplified into just three stages. Stage
one is light sleep. In this stage people drift in and out of sleep and can wake up easily. When in light
sleep, eye movement slows down and muscles relax. If anyone has ever felt the sensation of falling,
this is the stage it happens in. (¨Stages of Sleep¨, Par. 1 2) The brain waves of the

Essay On Schizoaffective
Schizophrenic or schizoaffective: A critical analysis of a popular press article
A diagnosis of childhood onset schizophrenia (COS) is rare. Exactly how rare is unknown as the rate
of prevalence has been reported from 1 in 10,000 to 1 in 40,00 (Sood Kattimani, 2008; Gochman,
Miller, Rapaport, 2011). Regardless of the disorder s prevalence, witnessing a child battle the inner
demons that are frightening even for adults is disturbing. The only distinguishing factor between COS
and schizophrenia is age of onset. If individuals are 18 or younger when they display symptoms, they
will be diagnosed with COS. When someone is so young at age of onset their disorder will be more
severe and will have worse long term outcomes (Mash Wolfe, 2016). When a child is diagnosed with
an uncommon disease like COS it is typically reported in the news. This is the case with Gianni
Cristini who is haunted by scary voices and suicidal thoughts, and has been since he was younger than
4 years old. Because his symptoms were so severe and rare, he was diagnosed with an array of
disorders including autism, depression, and attention deficit disorder. Gianni s diagnosis at the time of
the article was bipolar schizophrenic affective disorder.

schizophrenia; and an individual with schizoaffective disorder will not have social dysfunction

unclear in Lah s article because she has reported the disorder as being schizophrenia, not
schizoaffective. Gianni does not appear to have any problems interacting socially, which further
emphasizes the need for his diagnosis to be schizoaffective

Theme Of Indian Camp By Ernest Hemingway
Lions, Suicide, and War; Oh My! What do a lion, a suicide, and a war have in common? Connected or
not, these three factors can influence the character s behavior whether it be in or out of a figurative
sense. These three components are also very symbolic in Ernest Hemingway s writing, more
specifically in his short stories Indian Camp , The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber , as well as
the interchapters from In Our Time. Ernest Hemingway s portrayal of conflict creates a violent
normality in some of his stories. This is shown by the character s response to suicide, hunting, and
war.

The light could symbolize Nick s veil of innocence to be removed from his life because he had just

very abrupt and no one intended for it to happen at that moment. The death of the Indian husband

Gender Importance in Marketing
Gender Marketing
Abstract
Gender Marketing is not about male versus female. It is about understanding your customer and his
profile thoroughly. Marketers generally adopt the approach of neutral marketing to play safe; by and
large both men and women feel that they have not been targeted by the marketers properly. The
marketers should continuously strive for competitiveness and take benefits from the ever changing
environment which can be facilitated by the realization of the concept of gender marketing. In this
article I will discuss about the changing role of women today and how it has an impact in marketing of
products like online selling, car purchase, garment purchase and food drinks.

who inhabited it between 3000 1500 B.C. They were conquered by a greek people known as
Philistines and also Jews, one of the semitic peoples, in the years 1200 1100 B.C. A hundred years

As Islam expanded rampantly in the years 630 730 A.D., Jerusalem and Palestine were incorporated
into Islamic rule, exposing Jews to the Arab rule as well as initiating the clash of religions that thrives
to the present day. In A.D. 691, Dome of the Rock, a Muslim temple memorating Muhammad s
ascension to heaven was built upon the ruins of the Jewish Temple, thus provoking the latter on the
religious grounds, and initiating an ongoing dispute, one of the most prominent in present day Old
City of Jerusalem (Smith).
Toward the end of the Ottoman rule (1516 1918) over Palestine, the situation there began to
destabilize, most notably following the Ottoman land reform law passed in 1867, which granted
foreigners the right to own land if they agreed to pay taxes to the Ottoman government. The aim of the
law was to force foreigners to submit to Ottoman jurisdiction in return for their investment in land in
the empire. The ruling is essential to the current ethnic plight in Palestine, as it was especially in that
region, that those regulations were applicated inconsistently, which opened the way for extensive
outside investment and led to numbers of Palestinians acquiring lands, while giving them claim to

The movie Glory Road (2006) is about the true story of how Texas Western University defeated all

examples when it comes to asking others for guidance or lack thereof. The story follows a man named

performed by two neurosurgeons, Dr. Strauss and Dr. Nemur, that will theoretically increase his
intelligence. The surgery has already been tested on other animals, like Algernon the mouse. Although

especially was only invested in the surgery for his own personal gain and not for the benefit of
Charlie. Because he was so eager to get his results out to the world and so paranoid that someone may
discover a way to complete the surgery before him, he decided to rush into the surgery and didn t take
the guidance given to him by Dr. Strauss who said that they should wait. Instead, he goes ahead with

  • 2. 1970s Environmental Issues It is crucial to begin with an analysis of the most current public perspective, using surveys and research done by the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication and Pew Research Center. This point will be characterized by how environmental issues tie into politics and influence a registered voter s vote. Will set up the framework for the following point of past trends and laying out why public influence is impacted by events. Prior to the 1960s, environmental issues were not of principal concern or of mass knowledge. (Rome, 2003) Up until the 1970s, environmental issues were predominantly state issues and rarely regulated by the federal government. Building up to the 1970s also known as the environmental era, many social platforms began ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Cota, 1995) While there was a growing concern that follows the great environmental era, there was concern that the 1980s would see decline in public concern for environmental problems. (Dunlap Scarce, 1991) The Los Angeles Times commented environmentalists concern with, They worry that the environmental decade may be just that the only environmental decade. While in no comparison of the magnitude of the 1970s, this decade was not completely void of legislation. As seen with the 1990s, the focus of legislation was shifted to responding to high publicity environmental disasters such as Love Canal, which gained an extraneous amount of coverage and influence. In the next decade and on, environmentalism becomes less of a public movement and more so a political statement. Suddenly, the argument is shifted from wanting regulation to a debate between economic and environmental ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Persuasive Essay On The Public Transportation System What started out as a trip to Philadelphia ended up turning into a unique experience with public transportation. There is more to public transportation than hopping on a bus or train and just getting to your destination. There are unsaid rules that go along with riding in the public transportation system and the point of my exploration remix is to share these rules with any other college students who do not fully understand them. Without being aware of the unsaid rules, it is very easy to break them. I want to prevent college students from making the mistake of embarking on the public transportation system with no prior knowledge and prevent students from breaking any of the rules like I did. My remix serves to provide quick information for those who want to use public transportation. College students primarily will not take the time to seriously read through a handbook for public transportation nor sit down to watch a video. However, a flyer with only a few sentences is readable and convenient. All a flyer needs is a little bit of color and bold lettering and there it is! One of the rhetorical ideas I used was humor. Humor is a great tool when used correctly because the listener will start to pay attention when they laugh. I achieved this appeal to pathos by using cartoons on the flyer. It is easy to glance over something and not read it but when something small makes one chuckle, they will retain the information received. Using a tool such as humor allows the work to be memorable. Technologically this was a tough assignment. At first, the original plan was to make a short video type public service announcement. Unfortunately, I did not possess the knowledge to create one. Regardless, making a flyer may be more effective for college students. I have incredibly awful handwriting, so for me to draw any sort of flyer would be a waste of time. A more aesthetically pleasing method would be to create a flyer online using microsoft word, multiple colors as well as a small amount of photography. This is exactly what I did. There were many things I would have liked to do with the flyer, but since I lacked technical knowledge, I could not achieve these ideas. I would have liked to fade the photos behind the text so you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Fracking Controversy Fracking refers to the process of drilling into the earth, which is commonly referred to as hydraulic fracturing. This injection of water, sand, and chemicals especially in shale deposits releases oil or gas that has been trapped for many years that was initiated many years ago for the purpose of oil and gas extraction from the earth (Anderson and Bosselmann, 2013). The process can be carried out both vertically or horizontally such that it creates new pathways or extend already existing ones. The process causes a lot of controversy and at the same time, it acts as a potential key that will someday in the future unlock greater sources of energy (Bamberger and Oswald, 2014). This research therefore seeks to look at the positive aspects of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the other hand, further research has shown that shale oils and gases develop risks that interfere with the quality of air especially from the exhausts of the trucks involved in the transportation (Wilber, 2012). This overall process may result in the pollution of water or rather the contamination of both the ground and the surface sources. This means that the releases of chemicals among other underground spillages often cause unwanted mixtures between the clean sources and the migrating gases and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Visits From Inside The Black Mirror Visits from Inside the Black Mirror Over the last ten years, technology has transformed almost every aspect of our lives before we ve had time to stop and question it. We have access to all the information in the world but no brain space left to absorb anything longer than 140 character tweets. Black Mirror TV Show, Charlie Brooker, Channel 4. Within this quote, Brooker says that people have sold their own ability to think independently just for all the information in the world at their fingertips. Technology has only deepened its grasp on consumers by becoming a necessity for conformity. The Visits from Inside the Black Mirror will interpret the consumers desire for social acceptance. From Victorian era mad scientists to modern day serial killers, new monsters appear as American society evolves, paralleling fluctuating challenges to the cultural status quo. (Poole). Today s modern monster is Technology. Technology controls people s actions, their emotions, and influences their decisions. Take in the thought of holidays and special events. During those times consumers race to their local Best Buys and Apple stores just for the latest trends in technology. They spend hundreds of dollars on these time wasters. That false hope of acceptance and peace makes the drive for technology even more powerful. In the year 2016 owning some form of technology is a necessity and without it the consumer is kicked out of society forever. This is proven within the smartphone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some of the earliest references to meditation are found in the Hindu scriptures and it was around the 6th to 5th centuries that other forms of meditation developed into Confucian, Taoist China, and Buddhist India (Taham). • 8. Banning Books In Schools Essay Thesis: Classic works of literature should not be amended or banned because the novels pertain to pivotal moments in history and help shape literary works today. Often, groups of people with similar interests will congregate with the intent of banning a book or ridding it of certain material. Not only does this strip classic literature of its raw delicacies, but it violates the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. In New York in 1949, classic works such as Oliver Twist and The Merchant of Venice were thought to generate hatred toward to Jews (Gould). If, for example, a book tells a story about a child getting lost in a store and getting an ice cream cone when they are finally found, young readers will respond by heading for a store so that they can get lost and have ice cream cones too. Children really have much more complicated minds than that they aren t just passive vessels. Books are really just one piece of their whole world (University of Illinois). Jenkins comments on the impressionable youth and the impact that works of literature have on them to prove that the youth is more mature and sensible than certain institutions believe them to be. By removing questionable material from books, these institutions in which books are banned are removing all trust and confidence in readers. Hiding classic literature from children, again, sets boundaries on their knowledge and does not allow them to appreciate timeless works. Jenkins also says, The act of banning a book is taking a public stance to intimidate potential readers. It s almost as if they re saying, Read this, and you will meet with our disapproval. Engaging in the practice requires that teachers are constantly reflecting and wondering how they can better enhance their performance. Effective teachers are master reflectors who always understand how their actions contribute to the success of their students, their families and their communities. When a body repairs itself physically, it heals things such as broken bones and bruises. Furthermore, when the human body repairs itself mentally, it heals things such as stress and memory loss. Bad sleep behavior and hygiene can lead to sleep decreasing. One way for sleep to decrease is drinking caffeine or alcohol before bed if they do it will take them forever to fall asleep. Don t have a heavy meal right before bed, or it will interfere with sleep. Never try to make an effort to go to sleep because sleep should come naturally to everyone. (Williams Carey, Pg. 3 4) There are many several different stages of sleep. These stages are called the sleep cycle. During this cycle people have five measurable stages of sleep, but these can be simplified into just three stages. Stage one is light sleep. In this stage people drift in and out of sleep and can wake up easily. When in light sleep, eye movement slows down and muscles relax. If anyone has ever felt the sensation of falling, this is the stage it happens in. (¨Stages of Sleep¨, Par. 1 2) The brain waves of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Key Life Events In James 4:14 (NIV) God says What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and vanishes . Even as a 28 year old I can see the reality of these words. My life is short, and it is important to make the years I have on earth count. In order to make sure I am spending my time on earth wisely, it can be beneficial to reflect on past events from my life. In this essay I will discuss some positive events from my timeline, key transitions that changed my life in a positive way, negative events in my life, and key transitions that changed my life in a negative way, and finally I will discuss what I discovered about myself through this mapping exercise. Like I mentioned previously moving out of my mom s place did not seem like a positive event at the time, but looking back I realize just what a pivotal step that was. I would have never received the blessings and the good that came out of that negative situation. • 27. Essay On Schizoaffective Schizophrenic or schizoaffective: A critical analysis of a popular press article A diagnosis of childhood onset schizophrenia (COS) is rare. Exactly how rare is unknown as the rate of prevalence has been reported from 1 in 10,000 to 1 in 40,00 (Sood Kattimani, 2008; Gochman, Miller, Rapaport, 2011). Regardless of the disorder s prevalence, witnessing a child battle the inner demons that are frightening even for adults is disturbing. The only distinguishing factor between COS and schizophrenia is age of onset. If individuals are 18 or younger when they display symptoms, they will be diagnosed with COS. When someone is so young at age of onset their disorder will be more severe and will have worse long term outcomes (Mash Wolfe, 2016). When a child is diagnosed with an uncommon disease like COS it is typically reported in the news. This is the case with Gianni Cristini who is haunted by scary voices and suicidal thoughts, and has been since he was younger than 4 years old. Because his symptoms were so severe and rare, he was diagnosed with an array of disorders including autism, depression, and attention deficit disorder. Connected or not, these three factors can influence the character s behavior whether it be in or out of a figurative sense. These three components are also very symbolic in Ernest Hemingway s writing, more specifically in his short stories Indian Camp , The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber , as well as the interchapters from In Our Time. Ernest Hemingway s portrayal of conflict creates a violent normality in some of his stories. This is shown by the character s response to suicide, hunting, and war. The doctor made the body clearly visible to his son with the light. The light could symbolize Nick s veil of innocence to be removed from his life because he had just witnessed the birth of another human being, yet also the death of another. This removal of his veil was very abrupt and no one intended for it to happen at that moment. The death of the Indian husband came as a shock to the characters and even though it was unintended, it still played a major part in the tone of the birth of the Indian baby.
